[8:58] We had several very strong candidates

[9:00] step forward and I really appreciated

[9:02] the time I got to spend with each one of

[9:04] them to meet with them and talk about

[9:07] why they wanted to serve. It made this a

[9:09] very difficult decision.

[9:12] After completing the interview process

[9:14] and carefully considering each of the

[9:15] candidates, tonight I'm pleased to

[9:18] announce that I will be recommending

[9:20] Frank Curillo to the village board for

[9:22] appointment as village trustee.

[9:24] Frank's been serving it for a long time.

[9:28] He started on the historical commission

[9:30] in 2012 and he moved to the plan

[9:33] commission in 2017.

[9:35] Over that time, he's gotten to know the

[9:38] village, our development process, and

[9:40] the kinds of issues that come before us.

[9:43] Frank's professional exper experience is

[9:46] also a good fit for the board. He works

[9:48] on complex projects, deals with budgets

[9:51] and contracts, and has to bring a lot of

[9:53] different people and interests together.

[9:58] That experience along with his years of

[9:59] service to the village has prepared him

[10:01] well to serve on the board.

[10:04] Frank has also worked through a number

[10:06] of important development and land issue land use issues during his time on

[10:10] the plan commission and has stepped in

[10:12] to lead the meetings when needed. He

[10:15] knows how the village works and I

[10:17] believe he will be able to hit the

[10:18] ground running.

[10:20] I also want to sincerely thank everyone

[10:22] who applied for the vacancy.

[10:25] I was really encouraged by the number of

[10:27] people who are willing to step up and

[10:29] serve the itasa.

[10:32] We could only recommend one person for

[10:34] this vacancy and I hope the others will

[10:36] stay involved. There are a lot of ways

[10:39] to serve the village and I plan to

[10:41] continue those conversations with each

[10:43] one of them.

[10:44] The village board will formally consider

[10:46] my recommendation to appoint Frank at

[10:48] our September 15th meeting. And if

[10:51] approved, Frank will serve until the

[10:52] municipal election on April 6th, 2027

[10:56] when I task of voters will elect a

[10:58] trustee to serve the remainder of the

[10:59] term through April of 2029. Frank, thank

[24:58] administrator. She was um extremely

[25:01] involved with uh with this PGA. It was

[25:04] her her push to get this thing going. It

[25:06] was her tenaciousness to schedule and

[25:09] meet and and hold hold timelines and and discussions to to the situation at

[25:14] hand. Um you know, we did some stuff on

[25:16] our end of PD, but it it started with

[25:18] her. So, thank you for that. Um

[25:22] so, uh this past week had a couple some

[25:25] interesting calls. officers did respond

[25:26] to a uh a pretty violent domestic revol

[25:30] in rev involving an adult son and a set

[25:32] of parents uh late in the evening hours.

[25:35] Uh um the the the one person was either

[25:40] under the influence of drugs or

[25:41] intoxicated but he was possessing a

[25:42] knife. Um officers encountered that

[25:45] situation. They used deescalation

[25:47] tactics. um removed the removed the

[25:50] parents from the home and um ultimately

[25:52] was able to bring that uh matter to a

[25:56] peaceful resolution um for now.

[25:59] Uh we also had officers responded to a

[26:02] young adult who was um [clears throat]

[26:05] um having some trouble in life and was

[26:08] um standing by one of our bridges. And

[26:10] once again, uh, we we really promote the

[26:13] mental health, mental health training.

[26:15] Um, and those officers were able to

[26:17] speak to that individual, get the

[26:18] paramedics there, and individual agreed

[26:21] to go for medical assessment.

[26:24] Um, we had a 2-year-old child that um

[26:27] left an apartment and uh was walking

[26:30] around the halls and making his way down

[26:32] to uh some areas on unsupervised. Uh,

[26:36] somebody's record saw him. Uh we were on

[26:38] our way. Parents were about then

[26:41] realized the child was missing and so

[26:43] the child and the parents were reunited.

[26:45] Um the kid was a little hard to crack.

[26:48] He wouldn't explain too much to us how

[26:50] we got out but we we we surmised how we

[26:52] got out. Um so and then we have uh it's

[26:56] nice to hear that there's still a lot of

[26:58] civility in the world. a U men's Rolex

[27:01] watch valued about $30,000 was uh lost

[27:04] or left behind at a wedding at the uh at

[27:06] a hotel in town. A a gentleman found

[27:09] that and uh turned it in to the police

[27:13] and um sure enough a couple days later

[27:16] the owner of that watch went contact the

[27:19] hotel. They said we'll call the Tesco

[27:21] police. They did. They came in u showed

[27:24] proof of that it was their watch and we

[27:25] were able to reunite him and his watch.

[27:27] But a a good Samaritan had actually, you

[27:29] know, took possession of that watch

[27:31] initially and and and did the right

[27:32] thing and turned it in.

[27:38] >> Um last week, uh uh we reviewed the

[27:43] school safety plans for the start of the

[27:45] school year with the superintendent and

[27:52] superintendent Bennis left the school in

[27:54] a great situation and, uh,

[27:56] superintendent weeks will follow

[27:57] through. So, um, those were all all up

[28:00] to standard, up to date. And then, uh,

[28:03] today we designated for today, tomorrow,

[28:04] and even in the, um, into probably the

[28:07] end of the week, we designated the PD as

[28:08] a cooling center. So, should some

[28:10] persons need need relief, it is

[28:13] available at the PD.

[29:31] soon. uh the Schiller Pond project, the

[29:34] contractor was able to pour the driveway

[29:36] apron uh access to the lift station and

[29:42] waiting on uh the electrical relocation

[29:45] to finish that uh that project up. Um

[30:47] Um and to give you an update on the

[30:50] President's Cup, uh we are making

[30:52] progress. Um in front of you is uh the

[30:56] brochure that we are working on that

[30:58] will be in the hotel rooms. Um and uh

[31:03] guests who are attending for the PGA

[31:06] will be receiving that along with a

[31:08] little gift bag welcoming them to the

[31:11] village. Um the brochure will be guiding

[31:14] people to our only Itasca website which

[31:17] is um getting its final touches before

[31:19] it goes live, but that will be a central

[31:21] location to show where our restaurants

[31:24] are, what events are happening. Um and

[31:28] it'll be utilized moving forward all

[31:30] year round by the different businesses.

[31:33] Um so far we have about $65,000

[31:37] in requests for doing events. Um a lot

[31:40] all of our hotels are participating and

[31:44] we'll be putting on events that um

[31:47] residents and visitors alike can go to

[31:49] and some of our local hotels are also

[31:51] planning things. Um, a lot of it is

[31:54] centered on golf. So, doing some tea

[31:56] times and uh putting at their facilities

[32:00] along with uh simulators and they're

[32:03] going to have um live music and then um

[32:07] dinner and lunch specials as well. So,

[32:10] we'll be encouraging everybody to look

[32:12] at only uh.com to get information and

[32:16] we'll be doing a launch on our social

[32:18] media for it. We're also going to be

[32:20] having banners um at key intersections

[32:24] at uh Bloomingdale Road and Rowling,

[32:27] over in Hamilton Partners, over by

[32:30] Eaglewood, over by Hyatt um and the

[32:33] Weston uh advertising uh the only in

[32:36] Itasa as well as welcoming the PGA

[32:39] visitors.

[33:44] we received uh several complaints I just

[33:47] want the board to know regarding traffic

[33:48] and parking and they were actually from

[33:50] two locations. One was it was I guess a

[33:54] mess over by Usher Park during prom. So,

[33:57] we're going to kind of make some

[33:59] probably adjustments moving forward with

[34:01] when they're going to have prom and

[34:03] graduations of potentially um looking at

[34:07] restricting parking to one side of the

[34:09] street because we actually had people

[34:10] that were parking in front of people's

[34:13] um you know, the people weren't able to

[34:16] get in their driveways and honestly

[34:18] people were having a hard time getting

[34:19] down the roadway. So, we're just going

[34:20] to have to keep those on our schedule.

[34:22] That's going to be something we do new

[34:24] moving forward is to keep that event on

[34:26] our schedule and then just make sure

[34:27] that we get out there in advance and

[34:29] post to be one side only.

[35:33] Grove you can park a little bit further

[35:35] down and still make that walk. So,

[35:37] >> and even Maple was I mean there's no way

[35:40] you would have got an emergency vehicle

[35:41] down

[35:43] >> 100%. So, and we need to let people know

[35:45] where those parking lots are, you know,

[35:47] things like that. So, um that works a

[35:50] little bit better. So, we're aware of

[35:51] that. The other place was at um 207 East

[35:54] Center. So, they actually had a larger

[35:56] uh religious celebration that happened

[35:58] this weekend. There was a lot of

[36:00] parking,

[36:02] [cough] apparently parking issues there.

[36:05] So, excuse me. [cough]

[36:12] Um, so we'll be following up with the

[36:13] mosque, especially given the fact that

[36:15] we have some construction that's coming and we have done some um

[36:19] preliminary reachouts to them, but we're

[36:21] going to be talking we're going to be

[36:23] looking at marking Center Street so that

[36:26] there is no parking during construction.

[36:28] Obviously, um trying to move that

[36:31] parking back and forth while it's under

[36:32] construction would be difficult. So that

[36:35] means you're going to have bleed over

[36:37] into the other areas, which would be the

[36:40] side streets there that are not wide

[36:42] enough to park two cars and get an

[36:44] emergency vehicle through. So during the

[36:47] north side infrastructure project, those

[36:49] streets from Elm all the way through

[36:52] Cherry are going to be posted that it is

[36:55] no parking on one side of the street.

[36:58] So,

[36:59] uh, primarily on Fridays, we're going to

[37:01] kind of look at their whether there are

[37:03] other days, but on on the other days,

[37:06] there's usually not enough cars. They

[37:08] can kind of weave in and out. But on the

[37:10] Friday, when there are services, they can't park on both sides of the

[37:14] street and then get traffic through.

[37:18] streets and I don't know if this is a

[37:20] police department matter or our matter.

[37:22] I just don't understand why it's why you

[37:24] don't restrict parking to one side of

[37:26] the street all the time.

[37:30] had an open house with the residents um

[37:32] regarding that and there was some mixed

[37:35] feelings about that. It's not a problem

[37:37] most of the time. Uh and they didn't

[37:40] want to have you a lot of the residents

[37:41] there were like we don't want to not be

[37:43] able to park in front of our house. Um

[37:46] and so at the you know over the last

[37:48] year even through the spring religious

[37:51] celebrations we did not have massive

[37:54] issues. Uh there seems to have been a

[37:56] miscommunication in the fall. So we want

[37:58] to try to rectify that moving forward

[38:11] do. But I I think that once the the uh once the streets get widened, you

[38:19] probably on most of them will be able to

[38:24] if not, we most likely will post them at

[38:26] that time.

[38:32] » I mean, I suppose all that could be on

[38:34] the table. Uh, I think the residents

[38:36] would have some pretty

[38:37] >> we ran a lot of this past

[38:39] >> residents and the solution we kind of

[38:42] came up with was what everyone kind of

[38:44] wanted and it has worked. So, I don't

[38:47] know that we have to

[38:48] >> throw everything out. I just think we

[38:50] need this one or anything discussed.

[38:54] >> Yeah, we actually had an open house. We

[38:55] looked at oneway streets. We looked at a

[38:56] lot of different things at that and

[38:58] there's just, you know, not unonymity. I

[39:00] think what's going to be really um

[39:02] interesting here is that we're going

[39:03] into a time of construction. We're going

[39:05] to have to adjust during construction

[39:08] that construction is going to be moving

[39:09] at different streets at different times

[39:10] and so they're going to have to get used

[39:12] to not parking on the street period. So

[39:14] that might be the time when we open

[39:17] streets back up to move it to just one

[39:19] side and see how it works cuz they won't

[39:22] have been they'll be used to parking on

[39:24] one side throughout the construction.

[39:27] So, um, but center is going to be the

[39:30] most impactful because the people who go

[39:32] there park on center primarily and

[39:36] that's just not going to be a

[39:37] possibility over construction. So, we're

[39:39] working with them. You know, we have

[39:42] already talked to them about moving to

[39:44] the metro lot that is by the school district um facility there. It's

[39:50] really only a couple blocks away and it

[39:52] is the best place for their parishioners

[39:54] to park. So, we just need to work with

[39:56] them to do that and they've been really

[39:57] good in the past. So, I think, you know,

[40:00] we're hopeful that we're able to

[40:02] alleviate the situation pretty quickly,

[40:03] but I wanted to make you aware of it.

[40:05] >> Kianne, just a question or two on that

[40:07] real quick. One is, is there a

[40:09] congregation primarily from outside of

[40:12] Itasa?

[40:13] >> It is.

[40:13] >> So, they're not necessarily kind of

[40:15] seeing our construction project

[40:17] dayto-day. So there's going to be people

[40:18] coming into town that so that the mosque

[40:21] is going to have to communicate to the

[40:22] parishioners to say, "Okay, so that's

[40:24] part one. Part two is based on the

[40:26] amount of traffic we saw this past

[40:28] weekend. Are we are we still confident

[40:30] that they're not exceeding their number

[40:32] of people in the building per the fire

[40:34] code?

[40:35] >> Are we confident? I mean, nobody was

[40:37] there this past, but based on the I

[40:40] mean, there's a lot of people that can

[40:41] fit in that building in the various

[40:43] different rooms and levels. It is we are

[40:45] fairly confident that even at their peak

[40:49] they will not exceed and that is based

[40:51] on both the amount of people that can

[40:54] fit in that total building as well as

[40:57] the fire department's assessment of it.

[40:59] Now in various rooms there's only

[41:02] supposed to be so many people in various

[41:04] rooms so many people in that and I know

[41:06] that when the fire department has gone a

[41:08] couple times to they have not found them

[41:10] to be over. So even when people are

[41:13] concerned that they're over, they

[41:14] haven't been over.

[41:20] » Okay. So, um, beyond that, there was a

[41:24] pretty significant power outage in town

[41:26] today. For those of you who, um, might

[41:28] have experienced that, there were a

[41:29] total of 1,700 customers out. um just

[41:32] the uh uh end of that it was an

[41:36] underground fault um in a main line and

[41:39] so people were out from kind of the I I

[41:41] don't know how far north it went but

[41:43] definitely most of the south side um of

[41:47] >> we were out by at least up to center

[41:49] street.

[41:50] >> Yeah.

[41:50] >> Okay. So you were up at least to center

[41:52] street and then all the way down into

[41:54] Addison on both sides. Yeah. It was a

[41:56] fairly large fault. So, um, they were

[41:59] able to reroute it and get it up pretty

[42:01] quickly. They're, um,

[42:03] >> about an hour.

[42:04] >> Yeah, it was. Yeah, just about just a

[42:06] little over an hour. So, they were out.

[42:08] So, yeah. Um, but if you wondered what

[42:10] happened, that was it. So, uh, wanted to

[42:13] since I got that information, speaking

[42:15] of commed,

[42:17] uh, because of the storms this summer, a

[42:20] lot of the comm work had had to be

[42:23] delayed, which meant the scheduled work

[42:27] has been pushed back sometimes a month

[42:29] to two months. And so this is impacting

[42:32] the Spring Brook Nature Center project

[42:34] um which they needed a new they need an

[42:37] electrical pole that needed to be um

[42:40] moved and um [clears throat] basically

[42:44] uh upgraded. Uh KMED had contacted them

[42:47] already that the next time there was

[42:49] going to be construction they were going

[42:50] to need an upgrade there. And so, um, we

[42:54] have put it on our list as a priority

[42:56] and have been interfacing back and

[42:58] forth, uh, with KMED on behalf of the

[43:01] contractor on a regular basis. Um,

[43:04] unfortunately, at this point, I'm not

[43:06] sure that they're going to be able to

[43:07] get that project completed. And if they

[43:10] don't, the ice skating rink will be

[43:13] moved to an alternative location for

[43:16] this winter. They won't be able to get

[43:18] it up,

[43:19] >> but we're working on it. So again, the

[43:23] storms this year, if they can because

[43:25] it's actually a pretty small project for

[43:27] them. So if this if they can find a

[43:29] pocket to put it in, I'm having those

[43:32] conversations three times a week trying

[43:34] to move that along. Just letting you

[43:36] know.

[43:38] Um, we also got a couple of fairly

[43:42] extensive foyer requests and this is not

[43:44] to really talk about the requests

[43:46] themselves, but something that we

[43:47] uncovered and that is Microsoft in their

[43:50] last um in their last version that they

[43:53] gave us. G3 is what we use. They no

[43:56] longer allow you to to dduplicate

[44:01] um when you search for a an email. So

[44:05] when we have to do a foyer search it

[44:07] goes and the foyer search goes across

[44:09] the entire organization to everybody's

[44:12] email and then it returns results and

[44:15] those results in previous version of

[44:17] Microsoft we were able to dduplicate

[44:20] them automatically. So if the same email

[44:23] was sent to me, Mike, Jennifer and Bob,

[44:26] they would only get it once for our FOYA

[44:29] officer to have to review.

[44:32] Microsoft has since eliminated that. And

[44:36] so we had our first large FOYA that that

[44:40] ended up being an issue in um because we

[44:43] can get really it it you know thousands

[44:46] of email results back um and it took

[44:50] about four full staff days to go through

[44:54] and dduplicate it. So, we are now

[44:57] looking at what it's going to take to

[45:00] add that because this is going to shock.

[45:02] I know it's going to be shock and awe

[45:04] right now, but Microsoft has that as an

[45:07] add-on that you can pay extra for

[45:09] >> and you have to pay for that extra per

[45:13] user. So, everybody who has a box that

[45:17] you'd be searching you have to pay for.

[45:19] So we are looking at what the cost is

[45:21] going to be to add that functionality

[45:25] which we previously had

[45:27] that has been dropped from our current

[45:29] package back onto the current package.

[45:32] Um or if there's an alternative way an

[45:35] alternative software that we might be

[45:36] able to use to do something similar. So

[45:40] um I just thought you all might find

[45:42] that a little bit interesting. Um,

[45:44] >> Kianne, I I volunteer to save the

[45:46] village money and surrender my email

[46:03] Lator, uh, our building supervisor. So,

[46:07] we had a person who was tagged o over a

[46:09] years a over a year ago for um we were

[46:14] unable to upgrade their meter when

[46:18] meters were upgraded. That was a couple

[46:19] years ago. And then, you know, we said

[46:22] we have to upgrade your meter. We have

[46:23] to get in the place. And then they just

[46:24] stopped receiving water and we had to

[46:26] tag it. The person was still living in

[46:29] there. They they have a job where they

[46:32] travel often. So sometimes they were

[46:34] there, sometimes they were not. Um,

[46:36] without going a lot into the personal situation here, it it

[46:41] was a a situation where that person

[46:44] needed some help in order to make good

[46:48] decisions to be able to get their home

[46:52] functioning again. and Mike went above

[46:56] and beyond as well as Subers and their

[46:58] group went above and beyond um because

[47:01] when they finally got in and were able

[47:03] to replace the meter, they were able to

[47:05] determine that the pipes themselves had

[47:08] burst at some point, so they couldn't

[47:10] turn on the water. And so there were

[47:12] additional services that needed to be

[47:14] wrapped around for that person to be

[47:16] able to have their house be habitable

[47:18] again. And the team went above and

[47:21] beyond to do that. And it's one of the

[47:23] times that I am exceptionally proud to

[47:26] be the leader, a leader here with this

[47:30] group of people because it's it's the

[47:32] kind of service you don't see every day.

[47:34] So to Mike and his team, to Curtis and his and his team, um, and Mike

[47:40] Latoya, if you see him, please let him

[47:43] know. [clears throat]

[47:44] Um, OSHA did come and did an inspection

[47:47] of the village on 7:15. They did a heat

[47:49] inspection. We got no comments from that

[47:51] heat inspection, which is great. So, you

[47:54] know, OSHA doesn't tell us like, hey, so

[47:56] they they visited public works out in

[47:58] the field. It was an exceptionally um

[48:01] hot day. There are some new kind of

[48:02] regulations regarding heat in the field

[48:05] and um interviewed some of our

[48:07] employees. And normally what you get

[48:09] back from that is you have to do X, Y,

[48:10] and Z, and you have this many days. And

[48:12] this time they of course they don't say

[48:14] you did a great job. They just say we

[48:16] came out, we did it,

[48:18] didn't find anything. So reminder, here

[48:20] are the rules. So that is the best

[48:22] possible um result of something like

[48:25] that. So to Mike and his folks, uh they

[48:27] did a good job. And also just want to

[48:29] report that we got the task P&L in.
