country throughout this uh United States
[2:14]
of America look look at those who uh had
difficulties um with we had a lot of
[2:20]
tornadoes a lot of weather hurricane so
those who lost a lot and uh keep those

with all others weaknesses
[3:16]
disappointments and difficulties knowing

[5:23]
for an adoption of the
agenda move
[5:28]
second it's been moved and supported any
discussion seeing or hearing none all in
[5:35]
favor say I I all oppose the
[5:43]
same and sounds like the motion
passes that will bring us down to item
[5:51]
number six presentation presentations
and
[5:56]
proclamations and we have none
um and then that brings us down to item
[6:03]
number seven uh we have no public
hearings tonight brings us down to item
[6:08]
number eight which is citizen
comments and I will start as we always
[6:14]
do which is with uh reading the rules
for speaking before the city council uh
[6:19]
number one each speaker will state their
name and address prior to addressing
[6:22]
Council number two each speaker is
limited to up to three minutes before
[6:26]
addressing the council excuse me before
the citizen comment portion of the
[6:31]
meeting council members will not debate
or answer questions at this time number
[6:36]
three each speaker should be polite and
courteous to the council and members of
[6:40]
the public in attendance while any
member is while any speaker is free to
[6:45]
express his or her opinion on any
subject no speaker may direct personal
[6:51]
attacks at any member of the staff or
Council unrelated to the manner in which
[6:55]
they perform their duties use obscene
language while addressing the city
[7:00]
council or engage in disruptive or
disorderly behavior during a council
[7:04]
meeting number four should any speaker
cause a breach of the piece through
[7:08]
their conduct the mayor May declare the
speaker out of order number five if a
[7:13]
speaker is declared out of order by the
mayor and refuses to cease and assist
[7:17]
from disruptive or disorderly conduct
the mayor May order the person removed
[7:22]
from the meeting number six each speaker
may speak once under public comment and
[7:27]
may not yield their time two
others Joel
[7:40]
Smith sorry sorry goad okay my name is
Joel Smith 1038 South grenell Street and
[7:46]
I'm a Jackson Community member here to
speak on the results of the past
[7:49]
election with the election of President
like Donald Trump I'm scared for the
[7:53]
rights of both myself and those I care
for that they will be taken away I'm
[7:57]
scared for my trans and queer friends
who may be
[8:00]
May face increased discrimination as a
result of the doctrine I suppose ideal
[8:05]
uh project 2025 which will permit
discrimination on the basis of gender
[8:08]
identity and sexual orientation I'm
scared for my friends who are in unions
[8:11]
and who work on minimum wage as the
proposed exemptions to labor laws like
[8:16]
those that cover minimum wage and the
right to form a union could be suspended
[8:20]
under certain state and local wide
exemptions I am scared for really the
[8:25]
city of Jackson there is proposed cuts
to both the EPA and funding for you know
[8:31]
projects that help keep us safe like
replacing the lead service lines which
[8:34]
are still in place which carry our water
today like for instance reclassifying
[8:37]
the pasas forever chemicals which have
horrifying effects on like people should
[8:43]
they be even in proximity reclassified
as non-hazardous substances which would
[8:48]
also delay the clean up of them and I'm
simply scared for the rights and dignity
[8:53]
of everyone in town that will be
violated and ripped away should any of
[8:57]
these policies go into place so the
question I ask to you council is what
[9:02]
are you going to do to protect us what
is your goal in keeping Jackson safe
[9:07]
that's
[9:13]
all Mr John C
[9:20]
King thank you Mr Mayor John King 233
Street here in the city um as far as
[9:26]
that comment um what happened in the
first uh Trump
[9:32]
Administration compared to the Biden
Administration was Hillary
[9:37]
Clinton prosecuted with a bunch of fake
charges and stuff like President Trump
[9:44]
was no um I mean there's just so much
stuff uh the January 6 stuff was you
[9:51]
know there's still going to be Fallout
from there so um you know I've heard
[9:56]
that comment multiple times uh the last
couple of meetings that people oh I'm so
[10:02]
scared for the people that I love and
stuff and uh uh there are a lot of
[10:08]
people that uh on the um January 6 uh
commission that a lot of them probably
[10:14]
should be looked into now the the
they're saying oh maybe they'll all get
[10:19]
pardons from Biden and um I I was
wondering why the time change uh why it
[10:26]
wasn't put on Facebook or in more uh on
the website more Vi uh displayed where
[10:33]
everyone could see it um it it's finally
nice that there's an elected official in
[10:39]
the Fifth Ward um I had talked about
that uh the Third Ward uh couple
[10:46]
meetings ago mentioned oh I started
December 1st well she started a new term
[10:51]
so you know there's why this stuff the
City attorney polls is nonsense you know
[10:58]
uh oh doesn't make sense if this and
that um I had done a
[11:04]
foer uh about shelanda Hunt's like uh um
her all the uh signings that she had
[11:13]
pretty much all the information was uh
Whited out now if you remember when
[11:20]
Derek does did his thing be careful what
you sign um then eventually a bunch of
[11:25]
people uh got set nasty things so that
was an illegal thing done there um I
[11:31]
mean I I even talked with Deb no she
said oh I'll email you she never did so
[11:37]
I think the city attorneys off must have
taken the um summer off and so now but
[11:45]
now the current uh council member was
glad to start in
[11:49]
December uh you know I was told she's
got John King uh A derangement
[11:55]
syndrome um you know even on uh ke
Hamilton had posted
[12:01]
something uh where I made the comment
that a lot of the athletic facilities at
[12:06]
the school were
donated and kha said not entirely my
[12:10]
council member now liked it
just and there was no truth to what
[12:16]
Kesha said so you I think maybe my uh
council member is a stupid white woman
[12:22]
at times I it's just really bad thank
you thank you
[12:29]
uh Laura
[12:34]
schuy in case you don't know me I'm
Laura Schley 759 West Michigan Avenue
[12:40]
welcome to the other side of the podium
I know thank you it's kind of nice over
[12:44]

last night it was very informative thank
[12:51]
you
Freddy there was a nice program that the
[12:56]
city has that I as a landlord am hoping
to take advantage
[13:00]
of uh but my main reason is to
congratulate Christie you did a nice job
[13:05]
on your campaign I think I've seen a lot
of follow through and I hope it
[13:10]
continues I like the detail and uh your
presence and your attention to the
[13:17]
people within your ward so thank you for
running and congratulations on your win
[13:22]
that's all thanks
