[20:22] region to try to keep the ice.

[20:32] one and if you let it go it's

[20:34] going to be a bad mark on the

[25:09] initially it was going to be

[25:10] paid by >> montgomery county

[25:13] and the parks national parks

[25:15] association for all that >>

[25:18] funding. The only reason why

[25:19] kettering had to put money in

[25:21] to the rink at that time was

[25:23] the estimate for what it was

[25:25] going to cost to build. It had

[25:26] gone up since all that time so

[25:29] I think kettering was really

[25:30] given a gift here with that ie

[25:32] arena and I think that's just

[25:33] something we should still

[25:34] continue and look at that as

[25:36] being a gift and do whatever e

[25:37] can and whatever we can do >>

[27:23] event for both schools to

[27:26] big game and hopefully fairmot

[28:02] is really amazing and there's

[28:03] over $1,000 worth of awards

[28:05] given out. So it's this

[28:08] saturday the 12th from 1 to 3.

[28:11] can have there's food and drik

[28:13] also given and it is a free

[28:15] event and tell right in the

[28:16] gallery at rosewood >> art

[28:17] center I sit on the sister ciy

[28:24] committee which is really neat

[28:29] organization. We just had

[28:30] students here I know they

[28:31] visited mr. Sullivan's room ad

[28:34] that was that was fabulous. M.

[28:39] adult trip that's going to tae

[28:41] place this 2027 in june and

[28:45] there are some >> spots

[28:51] itinerary is is an incredible

[29:32] then the partners for a healty

[29:33] youth which was right before

[29:35] this meeting. I'm really

[29:37] excited to see what's being

[29:38] done and to engage with those

[29:40] groups and a lot more of the

[29:42] activities and things that I

[29:44] can get myself involved in wih

[29:45] those. Friday, september 11th

[29:48] is the 25th anniversary

[29:51] of september 11th. That day I

[29:55] remember where I was I was a

[29:57] senior in high school. I

[29:59] watched it from a classroom at

[30:01] fairmont. I saw both planes ht

[30:04] the towers, left an impact on

[30:07] my life as I know it has on a

[30:08] lot of others. I just want to

[30:10] encourage everyone to reflect

[30:13] on that day remember that day

[30:15] the lives that were lost and

[30:17] then educate those that werent

[30:19] around. For that I had the

[30:20] privilege of taking my kids to

[30:22] new york a couple of years ago

[30:24] and I always discussed it trid

[30:25] to educate them on the lives

[30:27] that were lost, the public

[30:28] safety personnel that are stil

[30:30] losing their lives to the

[30:31] cancers that they acquired frm

[30:33] that disaster. I brought them

[30:35] to the museum and got to

[30:37] educate them further. So I jut

[30:39] want to encourage everybody to

[30:40] remember that day especially n

[30:43] the 25th anniversary. >> thank

[31:15] they just recognized the

[31:16] importance of cities in ohio

[31:18] and the importance of states

[31:19] supporting them. The plan just

[31:22] really identifies that ways

[31:24] that the state can support

[31:25] cities better. And I stood

[31:26] alongside mayors of columbus

[31:28] and cleveland and cincinnati

[31:29] and in my friend spring in

[31:30] springfield in middletown to

[31:32] talk about the important work

[31:33] the cities do and that's that

[31:34] they are the economic drivers

[31:36] of ohio that the cities nobody

[31:38] does economic government bettr

[31:39] than cities so what we do and

[31:42] explain >> that plan out so im

[31:43] really privileged to work with

[31:44] that group in that committee n

[31:46] columbus. I also want to brag

[31:48] on our own don kirshner, our

[31:51] sustainability coordinator she

[31:52] was named the 2026 clean enery

[31:54] staff >> champion from the

[31:56] power a clean future >>

[31:58] organization and she's going o

[32:00] be recognized at a dinner next

[32:01] month after our conference in

[32:03] columbus. And I just need to

[32:04] say that her work as

[32:06] sustainability coordinator hee

[32:07] has ramifications that reach

[32:08] beyond our city and folks

[32:10] outside of this region

[32:11] recognize the work that she's

[32:13] doing not only on behalf of or

[32:14] city but in partnership with

[32:16] other groups in the region and

[32:18] it's really proud of her and

[32:19] the work that we've been able

[32:20] to watch her do over the last

[32:21] two years >> holiday at home e

[32:24] all talked about it but I dont

[32:26] think we fully appreciate the

[32:27] lift outside the volunteers.

[32:29] but as I spent talking to our

[32:30] public safety teams that were

[32:32] already busy they're doing

[32:34] double duty there at our city

[32:36] during the day and then they'e

[32:37] across town at alter fest at

[32:38] night where large crowds are

[32:40] gathering >> and you know we

[32:42] read about exurban overtime

[32:45] costs and who gets that? Well,

[32:46] that's the cost of a safe

[32:47] community. It's the cost

[32:49] of these gentlemen and ladies

[32:51] working 18 hour days on a

[32:52] holiday weekend and with their

[32:53] families the ones I spoke to

[32:56] said I'd rather be home than

[32:57] work the overtime the cash is

[32:58] nice but my family's at home

[32:59] without me today and the fire

[33:01] department was already busy

[33:02] after the storms. Then they

[33:04] were on site to make sure that

[33:05] we were safe when thousands

[33:07] of thousands of people gatherd

[33:08] in two different places at the

[33:09] same time in our city I can't

[33:11] say enough for them. The

[33:12] streets guys from the public

[33:13] services department had just

[33:15] come off clearing trees from

[33:16] roads and people's cars and

[33:18] people's roofs and then they

[33:19] come to make sure our parade

[33:20] route was safe and blocked off

[33:22] so >> folks could walk up far

[33:24] hills avenue without fear of a

[33:25] car coming into the path. They

[33:27] also said we'd rather be home

[33:30] but this is our job over time

[33:31] over time they would trade ovr

[33:33] time for family time every tie

[33:35] so when you read the articles

[33:36] but over time remember why tht

[33:38] occurs they're keeping us

[33:39] safer. Keep it streets clear

[33:41] and make sure that this

[33:42] festival was as fun as it was

[33:44] for so many people. And >> wih

[33:46] that I don't think we fully

[33:47] appreciate what that festival

[33:48] means for our city. I spend a

[33:50] lot of time with rick hartman.

[33:52] his dad was the mayor here 34

[33:55] » years ago and rick still

[33:57] comes back to kettering. He's

[33:58] not lived >> here since 1978

[34:00] but he knows this is the home

[34:02] where his dad was in service >

[34:04] to his community near hartman

[34:07] and he just >> comes back and

[34:08] those stories repeated

[34:09] themselves over and over >>

[34:10] again for what hardy at home

[34:11] means for so many people. So

[34:14] just if you see folks from

[34:15] public services and public

[34:16] safety and the parks

[34:18] restoration folks, the lincoln

[34:19] park staff, free staff just

[34:23] just thank them when you see

[34:24] them there weekend was full

[34:26] of work so that we could just

[34:27] show up and enjoy it. >> one

[34:31] of the next last points I had

[34:32] the honor to walk them and

[34:34] escort colonel okamura. He's

[34:37] the base commander for

[34:37] wright-patterson >> air force

[34:39] base. He's been in town just a

[34:40] few months and colonel ackbar

[34:42] is a great guy. Brought his

[34:44] wife and his kids to holiday

[34:45] home. They recognize the

[34:47] importance of this community o

[34:48] the base into the workforce

[34:50] both enlisted officer corps ad

[34:52] civilian contingent that this

[34:54] community is still a

[34:55] destination community for thoe

[34:56] families and he spent the day

[34:58] here at the parade and at the

[34:59] festival as a testament to his

[35:01] commitment to our city and the

[35:02] troops that he commands. I was

[35:04] really nice just to spend time

[35:05] with he and his wife lori got

[35:08] to celebrate the barnes

[35:09] project. I cannot be a bigger

[35:13] cheerleader for what matt

[35:14] grayson has pulled off in the

[35:16] last three years in regards to

[35:17] the barnes project. He's not

[35:20] going to like this comment but

[35:22] in every conversation of the

[35:23] success of that project the

[35:25] public private partnership

[35:26] bringing the schools to the

[35:27] table, the developer at the

[35:28] table, the service foundation

[35:30] and the philanthropy dollars s

[35:32] all on the back of matt's work

[35:34] that started three years ago.I

[35:37] also heard in this conversatin

[35:38] today >> the work of brian

[35:40] charles ski, pat taylor, our

[35:41] city architect and the folks n

[35:43] planning development that >>

[35:44] have just been over backwards

[35:46] to make sure this project is

[35:47] done in a way that honors the

[35:48] city, honors all the

[35:50] stakeholders that come to the

[35:51] table and every from co hatchd

[35:53] the architects on the ground,

[35:55] the contractors or just so

[35:56] complimentary to the city staf

[35:58] about making this huge project

[36:00] come together. You know it's

[36:03] going to be a 15 to $18 millin

[36:05] investment over the next coupe

[36:06] of years in that project and

[36:07] those are not tax dollars,

[36:09] those are not city dollars or

[36:10] school dollars very small tiny

[36:13] bit. It's going to come from

[36:14] our coffers because of the wok

[36:15] that that has been led by by

[36:17] matt bringing >> all these

[36:19] people to the table to save

[36:20] this building and turn it into

[36:21] something very productive for

[36:23] our community. >> and last ths

[36:26] week we get the honor of our

[36:28] volunteer our good neighbor

[36:30] of human relations of the work

[36:31] they do and the quantas is

[36:33] going to celebrate our police
