[4:48] Okay, that's a capital for you.
[4:51] Quick.
[4:51] No, no, no,
[4:56] no.
[5:05] Okay, next, we have 5.2 presentation of wars to the love of three postal contests. And I guess that's the reason why we have a full house for the first time in 10 years. Welcome.
[5:18] Mr. City Manager.
[5:19] Thank you, Mr. Mayor. Members of the City Council. The love of three posts are contests. It's held each year in honor of Arbor Day to highlight the importance of trees and the many benefits they provide to our community.
[5:28] This year, more than 720 students from local elementary and middle school submitted posters
[5:34] recognizing the importance of trees in Lomorada.
[5:37] Members of the City's Senior Council review the entries and narrowed down the posters
[5:42] to 44 finalists.
[5:45] Then the Community Services Commission selected the Citywide winners of this year's contest.
[5:50] The posters have been on display at the Lomorada Library for the past month.
[5:54] Winning posters are also on display this evening in the lobby.
[5:57] And I'd like to invite up our community services, Commission Vice Chair Erin Berry, who will reveal the names of tonight's
[6:13] winners.
[6:13] Good evening.
[6:16] Good evening.

[17:36] And from 8th grade, Penny Asso, the attitudes of our Lord, teacher, Ms. Faria, from
[18:23] Okay,
[18:50] next we have 6.1, the point men's, real point men to the historical preservation, the
[18:55] advisory council, Mr. Manager. Thank you, Mr. Mayor, pursuant to the provisions of the
[19:00] resolution establishing advisory bodies. The members automatically removed. If that
[19:04] is absent from more than 25% of the prior eight meetings.
[19:08] A routine review of the tenant records indicates that historical preservation advisory council
[19:12] member, Dr. C. David Peters has missed three meetings recently.
[19:16] As a result of the absence of the C was automatically removed from the historical preservation
[19:20] advisory council.
[19:21] However, he has expressed interest in being re-appointed.
[19:24] So, about that, we're recommending the City Council re-appoint, Dr. Peters, to the historical
[19:28] preservation advisory council for a term ending in June of 2027.
[19:31] Thank you. Before we proceed, we'll give one minute, anybody wants to leave? You can, you may leave.
[19:40] All right.
[19:49] No.
[19:50] Underneath that.
[19:52] It's good to put your sleeve.
[19:54] Makes sense.
[19:57] I want to move it, Mayor.
[20:00] Please, may I have a minute?
[20:10] Okay, let's go.
[20:23] It's heavy.
[20:30] If we're there to hear that?
[20:34] This is, this is how many people care about the meeting.
[20:43] Okay, back to our lonely council meeting.
[20:46] As always, we have 6.1, do I hear a motion?
[20:50] I'll move, Mayor, to appoint Dr. Peters.
[20:53] Well, for motion by second-by, Mayor Potem, roll copies.
[21:00] Councilmember Bean, aye.
[21:01] Councilmember Durus.
[21:02] Councilmember Lewis.
[21:04] Mayor Potemotero.
[21:04] Aye.
[21:05] Mayoring.
[21:05] All right.
[21:06] Let's go back to the comment.
[21:08] Anyone wishing to address Council, please step forward to the podium,
[21:12] stage of name.
[21:18] Even in Council, Jack, we've got that.
[21:21] Simple question for the agenda item eight, 12.
[21:27] I didn't see an amount for our investment in our world famous theater.
[21:34] I'd like to, if that's available, I'd like to know the amount, if there's an amount.
[21:58] Mr. Marriott can answer that, it's the amount of $165,730 is the cost of it.
[22:07] revenue goal is $269,394.
[22:17] Next, anyone else?
[22:20] Seeing none, public comments now close?
[22:23] We will continue on with the agenda.
[22:25] Next, we have ordinances and resolutions.
[22:27] 9.1 second reading and adoption of ordinance number 750.
[22:31] Approving amendment number 1 to a development agreement to insolent the
[22:35] I'm trying to build board at 1465,
[22:38] far from Bolivar within the freeway commercial zoning district.
[22:48] Think about the Wickers tonight.
[22:50] So yeah.
[22:50] But do I have a motion on the consent calendar?
[22:52] Should we have a motion?
[22:54] Second.
[22:55] Well, the second roll call please.
[22:58] Councillor Mervuy.
[22:59] Aye.
[22:59] Councillor Mouderous.
[23:01] Councillor Mouderous.
[23:04] Aye.
[23:04] And yeah, just play about what I just said.
[23:08] Mr. Mayor of the City Council agenda item 9.1 is the second reading and adoption of ordinance
[23:15] number 750 approving amendment 1 to the development agreement for the electronic billboard
[23:21] at 1465. Firestone Boulevard within our CF zoning district for the commercial.
[23:27] So on April 14, the City Council held a public hearing and introduced for first reading
[23:32] the ordinance. That's before this evening. The ordinance, again, amends a development agreement
[23:37] to allow for a deferred payment for electronic billboard.
[23:40] The fees owed to the city would be made
[23:43] in equal monthly payments of $25,500 from September
[23:47] of this year to March of next year.
[23:50] All of their terms and conditions within the development agreement
[23:54] would remain the same.
[23:56] And so with that we're recommending the council
[23:57] except for second reading and a top board in number 750
[24:00] of proving amendment number one to the development agreement
[24:03] to install an electronic billboard at the property
[24:06] at 14655 firestambulified. Within the freeway commercial zoning district.
[24:12] Thank you for the staff report. Any questions?
[24:16] Discussions?
[24:17] Do I have a motion?
[24:19] Move on to 9.1.
[24:21] Okay motion by Comp and Lewis.
[24:23] Second by Councilwoman Bean.
[24:25] Roger please.
[24:26] Comp and Ruby.
[24:28] I- I can some of it.
[24:29] Durus.
[24:29] Comp and for Lewis.
[24:30] Mayer Hospital, Material.
[24:32] Mayer.
[24:33] Next, we have City Council reports in announcement.
[24:36] Will start with Councilman Lewis.
[24:38] Thank you, Mr. Mayor.
[24:40] Well, in the last two weeks, the only attendance I had was at the Mayor's Community Breakfast.
[24:46] Where, of course, the Mayor was the guest speaker as well as Pastor Damon David Newman,
[24:52] who was the keynote speaker.
[24:54] And he did an awesome job of talking about being better together.
[24:59] It was a great speech.
[24:59] Thank you.
[25:00] I don't think we recorded it, but if you get a chance, maybe he can come over to your church and get that speech again. It was a really good speech.
[25:08] So the venue was moved this year to the Lomerate Theatre, and I think that's a great place to have that event.
[25:14] So I think it'll probably, from years to forward, we'll still be having that event at the theatre. It's a much better location. Thank you, B.T.
[25:21] And Dr. DeRouz is the president of the mayor's committee breakfast here and did a great job this year and setting it up and picking the players, but this is our 10th year, I think in the community breakfast.
[25:39] So thanks to all who participated and Michelle, back there was a big winner and one of the mayor or milleteral ward impact community awards.
[25:50] And the other one was Pastor David Newman, I think, or no, was the Arts College.
[25:55] Arts College.
[25:57] Got the other award.
[25:58] So, another great event, and I hope to see you there next year, and that's my report.
[26:03] Great.
[26:03] Thank you so much.
[26:04] May I put a tap?
[26:05] Thank you, Mr. Mayor.
[26:06] I also attended.
[26:09] Passion even the speech you gave was, I felt like I was in church all over again, like
[26:16] the mayor made a comment that you sit through this, you covered it for church on Sunday.
[26:20] you're fine.
[26:21] But the message that he relayed was just so powerful and so meaningful.
[26:27] And yes, he did go on for a while, but it was pleasant to hear him speak.
[26:31] I mean, I told him his voice and his demeanors can't or he could sing Mary had a little
[26:37] lamb and make it sound like it's moving your soul to stop.
[26:41] He is a tremendous individual and I was just so glad to have him because I think the
[26:46] The speech included everything from 2020 on today, and it was very healing and very
[26:50] cause you to really think about our society and our community and how better we are together.
[26:55] Again, congratulations to Love Lamarada and Arts College for the Daily Award.
[27:00] It was awesome to see Millie's family attend and to see her grandson there and had the opportunity
[27:05] to speak with him afterwards and really reflect on.
[27:07] We talked about Millie's Kitchen that if you made it out of Millie's Kitchen, when one piece
[27:14] when she was through with you, whatever it was,
[27:16] you were doing all right.
[27:17] Some people historically didn't make it out there
[27:20] without a couple scarves on them,
[27:21] but he made out of millies,
[27:22] millies, kitchen, you were just fine.
[27:25] Also the addition of the entertainment afterwards,
[27:29] first class PT, unbelievable.
[27:32] It was so awesome just to see those two sets
[27:35] in which the young lady performed for the crowd.
[27:38] Just made it something that over the top
[27:41] that I would never expect.
[27:44] But we're going to expect it again and fortunately some of that caliber because once you hit it that mark, it's hard to hit it again
[27:49] I know you probably won't be here for it
[27:50] And that's something drastically changes, but
[27:53] You said the bar very high my friend and so the next person's got a big big shoes to fill
[27:58] That's all I have Mr. Mayor. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Mayor.
[28:01] Council member be
[28:03] Thank you, Mayor. In congratulations to camping world and to all the love a tree poster winners and there's supportive families what a great turnout
[28:11] Last week, I had the honor of attending Calcities Veterans Roundtable on Zoom as an ally and a supporter representing this great city of Lamiata.
[28:22] Also, I went and collaborated with the new government relations regional representative Rebecca Lansing from Southern California Edison.
[28:30] I also attended the monthly contract cities board meeting, which was held at the Paramount Driven as a sock hop with a classic car show right up my alley.
[28:41] honoring the outgoing president of the mayor of Paramount Brenda Olmels.
[28:47] Also attended the beautiful mayor's community breakfast last week and the Temple Beth Ores
[28:53] 70th Anniversary Celebration and I have the joy of being served by the L.A.S.D.
[29:00] deputies at the tip a cop fundraiser at our very own iconic Lomra da I-hop in support
[29:09] of the Special Olympics. So it was a great breakfast. I also had the opportunity to help host
[29:16] a great event at Escolona Elementary. So shout out to Dr. O and her staff and the PTA. We collaborated
[29:23] with the CHP, where we installed and checked 41 car seats. It was wonderful working with officers
[29:31] Zachary Salazar and his team. In fact, Salazar wrote all of us back and said, this is a number
[29:37] that they pay attention to, extra attention to,
[29:41] because each seat represents child's safety being affirmed.
[29:47] So the CHP officer Salazar estimated
[29:49] that more than 100 lives were impacted in positive ways
[29:54] for safety in every child's seat.
[29:57] I also had the opportunity to,
[30:00] Enjoy a fun, filled, grand opening at Form Pilates Studio on Valley View, so congrats to Asala and her team.
[30:08] And at our annual council retreat meeting here at City Hall, we reaffirmed the code of ethics,
[30:15] pointing to our mission and roll of integrity, trust, and teamwork.
[30:21] As a standard of character for everyone who works for is appointed to and elected to represent this great
[30:29] city. I challenge us all to care for each other and to keep those values in mind as we speak
[30:37] to one another gently and from a place of respect and inquiry and care. I know I will hold myself
[30:45] to that. So as we head into the summer just like you saw on Gianna's rainbow heart in her little
[30:52] poster, let's be the sunshine, let's be the rainbow when someone else's clouds. Thank you and good night.
[31:00] Thank you, Council Member Bean.
[31:02] Dr. DeRouce.
[31:03] Mr. Thank you, Mayor.
[31:07] My announcement.
[31:08] I was a sanitation district meeting a week ago.
[31:12] Everything was going well there.
[31:14] I just want to remind everybody that if you go on the website,
[31:17] Alec County sanitation district, there's
[31:20] Tores and different things available.
[31:21] You can go.
[31:22] The general public can go to these.
[31:24] They have them throughout the summer.
[31:25] They have different events going on.
[31:27] They're free, the kids will love it, they can see how everything works and all that stuff
[31:32] in what happens.
[31:34] It's very an educational tour there and they have about three or four of them going through
[31:39] this some a month and then also to my colleagues in the council if you would like to take
[31:44] a boat tour and go out and see where all the garbage goes, we can certainly arrange that
[31:52] for you.
[31:53] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, so something with that.
[31:57] When I was talking about that, yeah, yeah, you can bring it on Rod and Real.
[32:02] But it's a three-hour trip, and if you want to do that, just let me know, and I'll see what
[32:06] I can do that up for you, but they take you out three miles out, and show you how everything
[32:14] works.
[32:15] And then they also take you to the different plants along the shoreline, so you can see what's
[32:20] going on.
[32:20] It's a very intricate operation.
[32:22] And they go on there, so that's available.
[32:25] Yesterday, along with City Manager,
[32:28] Jeff Pointin, I attended via Zoom,
[32:30] I five meeting still doing some clean up activity
[32:34] on the I-5, but also trying to get funds released,
[32:38] so they continue that widening of the freeway
[32:42] down through downing in to commerce and all that.
[32:46] The big hold up there is the inner change
[32:48] and stuff, it's so much money
[32:51] and do these things and there's a long hold up on that but working to try and get that done.
[32:58] And then also the better together, Mayor's breakfast, community breakfast, everybody did such
[33:07] a wonderful job in putting that together, the team that puts that together, you know,
[33:13] everybody works together for the common good and then it's just an example of us being
[33:20] better together, it's like we ask BT, BT, can we have such and such and such and as soon
[33:25] as we're done saying, can we, he's gone, yeah, you can do that, we can put that together,
[33:29] we can, and I'm like, are you sure?
[33:31] And it's like, there's no hesitation, but it's when people come together and we bump up
[33:36] against each other and find out we have so much in common.
[33:41] And we can build bridges and work together.
[33:45] There's not everybody in the city, we're going to embrace and always want to go out to dinner
[33:49] with, but we had work community and we worked together and you saw that in evidence there.
[33:55] I had a lot of people come up and say what a nice atmosphere in David's speech, which
[34:02] was really a short sermon, but was just so much on point because he brought everything
[34:08] together.
[34:09] You know, when he was done, I wanted to run through a wall or something.
[34:12] You know, he was just so on point with that, but that is going to be an ongoing thing.
[34:17] I believe for us we are better together and we have subtitles in that but yeah, we are better
[34:23] together and Ali was great and you came out from New York to do that and so you know we can promote
[34:31] all these different things there's a lot of different things and if you have ideas or things
[34:38] for that event, please let us know and also we want to be expanding the money that we give out to
[34:45] community. We're now in a situation where we can now really get back into the community and that's what we wanted to do all all along.
[34:53] And I don't know how much they paid that MC but that guy was good.
[34:58] So you got to get him back anyway.
[35:02] Any way, but it was just a wonderful time ahead by all. That's my announcement.
[35:07] Thank you, Councilman. BT, you have one more week of Mean Girls.
[35:12] Yes, one more week of Mean Girls. It's doing very well. We look forward to having you there for that.
[35:16] And we're getting ready to do our presentations after that before we do anesthesia, our final production of the year.
[35:23] And also I know this that the audience are a lot younger.
[35:27] Yes, that is true.
