[1:43]
Here, go for it. Here, Milligan, here, Shadel, Smith, Stewart, here, Wall, Wilkinson. Here,
[1:51]
best of the cushions, up, just a little, not hard from now.
[1:57]
Let's say the plague allegiance.
[2:01]
I plague allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
[2:05]
and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under our indivisible liberty and justice
[2:12]
All right.
[2:15]
Any public comments? I'll
[2:22]
move on to the approval of the minutes. Can I get a motion for approval of the last month's minutes?
[2:31]
Holly motions. John seconds.
[2:36]
Allen. Yes. Get in.
[2:39]
Yes. Go forth. Yes. Milligan. Yes. Smith. Yes. Stewart. Yes. Wilkinson. Yes.
[2:46]
Yes,
[2:49]
that's approved. We'll move on to the financial report.
[2:54]
It was nice to get a little early and looks really good.
[2:59]
Revenues, I was looking sales tax revenue, obviously, we're only two months in, so that doesn't mean much, but we are just a little ahead of pace.
[3:08]
I saw something that really pulled admissions, was almost half of the whole budget already.
[3:15]
a little more than half actually and that's really good because nor typically you know this
[3:20]
budget divides our pool season in half which makes it hard to tell because you get July and
[3:25]
August to this year May or June on the other side of it and June is always our biggest month so
[3:31]
that means we should be in pretty good shape on that poor parties rentals were almost a budget
[3:38]
R.A. So we really, we were the last two summers, we have just been booked solid on pool parties.
[3:45]
If you don't have your pool party budget or booked by in the June, you're going to get
[3:54]
stuff with what you have and you want to get what you want.
[3:57]
You better be starting booking in February or March.
[4:00]
It's really been popular.
[4:02]
I think it's a great value for which we charge and I think it's been very well received
[4:08]
and a lot of people have been taking advantage of that.
[4:14]
Park activities is down, we had so many rain outs, obviously.
[4:17]
Plus it's this time of year when we back off, we just started playing again in the last couple of weeks.
[4:22]
And as you can imagine, with it being 100 degrees,
[4:25]
it didn't get about 20 teams, which probably considered it's 100 degrees out there,
[4:30]
that's probably a lot of teams playing.
[4:33]
Because they're playing in the heat of that, there isn't a wait until seven or eight o'clock at night,
[4:37]
like they did the football and they moved back to 5-30 to 6-30.
[4:41]
You can't hardly do that with the baseball tournament.
[4:43]
You can't get a play when they're there.
[4:44]
So those are looking pretty decent.
[4:52]
Concessions, actually again, considering we've been down on teams
[4:56]
and everything else, concession numbers look good.
[4:59]
So revenues are really looking good.
[5:05]
Expenses, I didn't see anything that really concerned me.
[5:07]
I will warn you that we're going to bust water wide open.
[5:12]
And while we're on that subject, guys were watering the crap out of fields, soccer, football,
[5:20]
baseball fields, everything they all looked, I'm sorry, they just looked bad.
[5:25]
They're not in great shape.
[5:28]
We have sprinkler systems when we put them in.
[5:30]
It was designed to aid to keep the grass green, not go two months at a hundred degrees without
[5:39]
water.
[5:40]
I mean, we haven't had any significant rain at all since middle of July, and it just can't
[5:47]
keep up with that.
[5:48]
I'm sorry, that's just the fact of the way it is, and unless you want to spend $2.8 million
[5:53]
that they did out the golf course, you know, our systems total between both systems is probably
[6:00]
about $60,000 or $70,000, so you can see the difference in what you're getting.
[6:06]
And I mean, six-inch waterlines, we've got a two-inch waterline.
[6:10]
Just, unfortunately, it's just what it is.
[6:13]
It's not designed for that.
[6:14]
Remember, we want it to be designed for that.
[6:16]
I mean, we just don't have the capabilities to water that.
[6:19]
I mean, we cost a lot of money just for the water,
[6:21]
not to mention the system itself.
[6:24]
However, that being said, I do have a plan to increase the water flow at it.
[6:31]
Nelson, we think we can divide.
[6:34]
I'm waiting on the gentleman to give me a bid on what it'll cost.
[6:38]
We think we can divide the system, where we have baseball on one water system and football on soccer, on the other water system.
[6:47]
So we'll be able to water both at the same time, which will be able to increase the amount of water we can put out, significantly double it for all practical purposes.
[6:56]
So that should help us not get to the position we are now even if it gets dry like this again.
[7:01]
But unfortunately, again, we just, it wasn't designed for this kind of weather.
[7:08]
We're doing the best we can.
[7:10]
We're out there, water, and every day, when you see the water bill next month,
[7:14]
when we do water, that's all we can do.
[7:16]
You know, we fertilize, we do everything right.
[7:19]
We just don't have the capabilities to keep up with that.
[7:22]
I apologize, but it is what it is.
[7:25]
Go look at the high school baseball field.
[7:27]
It looks as bad as.
[7:29]
It's brown everywhere.
[7:30]
Yeah, yeah.
[7:30]
Yeah, I mean, even people with good water systems aren't so I don't
[7:40]
really see anything else like I said that would give us any great pause or
[7:44]
Anything that goes. Oh, we got an issue there. So I think we're in good shape on budget
[7:48]
Did anybody any of you guys see anything that you want to talk about or it gives you did anything for this budget
[7:55]
But I know the last meeting
[7:58]
Troy gave us some numbers. I didn't know if we were able to maybe get those five, you know the final numbers
[8:03]
in a PDF so we can take a look at it okay okay okay I'm sorry I don't know I've been
[8:14]
notified either okay and I don't remember that what that number was but it's kind of like
[8:21]
you turn on a baseball game and then you turn it off and then bottom of the eighth and it's tied
[8:25]
you know you kind of want to see how it ends and so it looks like we were doing pretty well but we
[8:29]
We still have some projects out there, skate park, refurbish of these slides.
[8:34]
In last year's budget, that we'll be doing this year.
[8:37]
So, there is money, but this pushback.
[8:40]
Pushback.
[8:41]
Contracts have been out for skate parks so we should start having skate park conversations with skate park company in the next week or so or two.
[8:49]
Let's hope and the water slide project will get started here before long.
[8:54]
We've already had dead gride and some trees removed and some stuff down out actually Brennan's
[9:00]
Willard asphalt was working very hard at getting out there
[9:03]
He's he still has plans on being there just as quick as he can probably within the next couple weeks
[9:08]
We'll see if that
[9:11]
If we can get there in the bread butter obviously is for wood and if they come up with something they want done before then
[9:18]
He's gonna have to go there. I mean, that's just the way the world works
[9:23]
pick of all is going great obviously down there those courts are all done we're
[9:28]
working on getting sewer system put in and a water line and everything like that
[9:31]
so we can start working on the pick of all bathrooms and Indian Creek
[9:36]
bathrooms whatever you want to call them down there so we'll be back to to
[9:39]
talk more about that probably at the next meeting about what we're going to do
[9:43]
and what we need to bid and how we move forward on that project and I think that's
[9:50]
it on that. Sorry, I think I got out of line. I'm sorry, late.
[9:54]
Where the bathroom is going by the petroleum. I was trying to remember when we were
[9:57]
here. We have a pitcher on that. Since I get the gal or four, I don't know. I got a little
[10:00]
half way over. I got a little head on myself. I'm sorry. We're good to move on from
[10:04]
the financials.
[10:13]
Okay. There's your bathroom. I'm sorry. I just got a little
[10:15]
head on myself. It's on the sidewalk going
[10:19]
between the shelter and the parking lot. If you've been down there lately, they had a
[10:22]
pile of gravel when they were putting the septic tank in or the septic lines in.
[10:25]
where that pile of gravel is basically where it's going to go.
[10:30]
It's a lot more convenient there than on the other side of the walking trail.
[10:34]
The shelter obviously gets used, but not in here with the Pickleball Court and
[10:38]
the basketball and the Zach's House will get used, so it's just made more sense to put it there.
[10:43]
Not to mention the way the septic work, it's a lot better to be able to get our septic over there
[10:49]
going straight down by the basketball court than it is to try to go across that creek.
[10:53]
We went across a creek, started to cause some issues, and then if we didn't, we wanted
[10:58]
to go way up that direction very far, then we would really have to go all the way back
[11:02]
into your subdivision, back in there, holly to get water and stuff.
[11:08]
So it made a lot of difference.
[11:09]
It was a lot more cost-effective to put it there for that.
[11:13]
So we'll have water, we'll put a bottle for the station, and some stuff like that ought
[11:16]
to be really well received.
[11:17]
We get so much traffic there, we really need bathrooms.
[11:21]
So I think this is the best way to make that happen.
[11:24]
Everybody, anybody having problems with that location?
[11:27]
Anybody having problems with what we've talked about
[11:29]
for the bathrooms and bathrooms?
[11:30]
The main, the doorways will be on the sidewalk.
[11:34]
So you won't be able to see them when you come into the parking lot
[11:37]
you're going to see a nice side of a building,
[11:39]
not men's and women's doors and stuff like people going in and out.
[11:42]
So it'll be a little more private too for the people going in and out of the doors.
[11:48]
just a question on that design. Is there anything between the basketball court and the parking lot? I just don't think there is.
[11:55]
Just a sidewalk.
[11:57]
And there's not going to be anything there.
[11:59]
Just my first reaction to seeing that was, I don't want to park my car, where someone like basketball misses and hits the car.
[12:06]
But there's going to be a fence.
[12:07]
No, there's no fence there.
[12:08]
There's going to be, though, wasn't there?
[12:09]
No, there never was a plan for progress.
[12:11]
That's, um, let me, he's not a possibly just minor thing, but if there was something just, just when the role misses, I think you're, that's a good point to be honest to
[12:22]
have on it. So let me look at it and see. Now, we do have a lot of that corner is hashtagged out. Right. So it's not parking anyway. So there's only one or two spots there. So let's look and see what makes sense.
[12:34]
Is there a way to put a backstop up?
[12:36]
That's what I'm going to look at.
[12:38]
I think I'll call Leo and have him come down and see if he's got any ideas.
[12:42]
Just with the basketballs going out there.
[12:43]
That's a good point.
[12:45]
I'm frankly in the other end to, there's nothing back there, but just if you're playing basketball,
[12:49]
you're not the case.
[12:50]
I can call Leo.
[12:52]
We'll see what we can do.
[13:00]
There's a picture of it.
[13:01]
So yeah, we can see if we can't come up with something.
[13:04]
because I have heard some people say that when they miss on that other end the ball goes down over the hill so yeah
[13:09]
we can do that. I don't really like fencing the whole court but something on the ends to stop it from the ball from rolling off would be
[13:17]
probably well received. We can go out a few feet and put maybe a four or six foot fence there and make it, it'll make it reasonable.
[13:23]
Okay, great idea. And is it going to be marked? Yes, that's the best thing.
[13:27]
Yep, the same company that did the Pickleball courts are going to be painting basketball will do black court with white lines gold and the free throw line stuff like that.
[13:41]
Says September 14th start date. They might be here today or tomorrow. They're working on an indoor court in Lebanon. They said so they might try to swing over and do some of ours this week.
[13:53]
place instead of waiting and starting next week, but they'll have it done in four or five
[13:59]
days, so most probably, and stuff, so the completed next two weeks will be ready to go and
[14:07]
everything with paint and
[14:12]
questions about that still.
[14:18]
Oh, I was going to say, what is that
[14:19]
not realize that? Okay, we had talked about moving the dog park up on the other side of the
[14:25]
building and changing it completely, which meant we would have to get parking and all kinds
[14:28]
And so after Willard asphalt came out and actually laid out where the parking lot goes, I think
[14:36]
we'll be able to leave the dog park where it is, which means we still have the fence
[14:40]
already there.
[14:40]
We already have water there.
[14:42]
We have a lot of nice shade trees there, which we wouldn't have at the other location.
[14:45]
And then we could go up there where that triangle is and it probably won't look like that triangle,
[14:50]
but this was just something we could put together fairly quickly for you.
[14:54]
We could build a small dog park there.
[14:57]
So you'll have a large dog park on the...
[15:00]
Regional part, and then a small dog park up there in the triangle piece. Not real thrilled with that point down here. So that's why I said probably won't look exactly like this one. I really don't like that point because of the one dog is aggressive. We got into another dog and ran the dog in the corner couldn't get away. So we probably put a four or six foot eight foot something cut off down here. We cut that point off somewhere to keep the dog from getting cornered in there. We couldn't get out.
[15:29]
She and another dog beaten up on her two or three dogs jumping on one dog.
[15:34]
It just kind of helps not to have an animal trapped in a corner, but we have separate
[15:41]
entrance and everything else for them, just like we have now where it has the double
[15:44]
gates system where you go through a gate and then go through another gate.
[15:47]
So hopefully you don't let somebody else's dog out while they're inside there.
[15:51]
And they'll share that that one leg of the fence will be shared and we have enough fence
[15:57]
It's obviously for this easily from the donation from Lowe's, so it won't cost us some concrete and some labor to put it up so it'll be a great addition.
[16:08]
I think that makes the most sense. We've already got a couple of trees planted there.
[16:12]
My thought would be we probably go by it from Lowe's this winter or this fall and see if they've got some leftovers of Walmart somewhere around that might have some bigger trees that are left over that they want to get rid of before winter.
[16:24]
might make us a deal on some larger trees so we could put some trees in there
[16:28]
that might make some shade in a few years instead of 30. Is there a cost savings?
[16:35]
Oh, benefit. Yes, a lot. Yeah, we were probably looking at 75 or 80 to move it.
[16:41]
And this will cost us, like I said, some concrete and some trees, you know,
[16:45]
probably under, be under $5,000. And the parking is already there. We don't have
[16:50]
parking dead. You don't have any issues with that. New sidewalks or anything. Everything
[16:54]
is right there. So I thought that made the most sense. And when you see where the new parking
[16:59]
lot goes, it will make a lot. It really truly makes sense not to move the park.
[17:04]
I have a couple of questions about that. Follow up. Last month, you showed us the design
[17:10]
of the parking lot with the walking trail. Does this change the design of the walking trail
[17:18]
No, we are still going to do what we said before. We will make the loop or not the one.
[17:23]
It will be a separate walking trail. I already talked about that.
[17:25]
Right, but I thought the walking trail last time meant moving the dog park.
[17:29]
No, not correct.
[17:30]
Okay.
[17:30]
No.
[17:31]
And then the follow-up on that would be, I think I recall like there being some excitement and feeling like we need to upgrade the dog park and the equipment.
[17:40]
Am I remembering that correctly?
[17:41]
We can do that.
[17:42]
Yeah, that will actually give us some money that we were going to spend on fencing to actually buy build some stuff in the park. Yes.
[17:49]
Okay. So the intention is to upgrade what is in there.
[17:53]
Okay.
[17:57]
Does that make sense to everybody? Anybody?
[18:00]
Shelter's still going?
[18:01]
Yep.
[18:02]
Yeah, that's on.
[18:09]
Oh, you didn't have a shelter?
[18:12]
I thought I sent it to you.
[18:13]
Okay. I will send out some pictures of shelters so we can start.
[18:17]
So you can have an idea of what you want to look at because we probably need to vote on those next meeting about which one you like and cost and stuff.
[18:27]
The lead time on shelters right now is 16 to 20 weeks.
[18:36]
So we're going to have to kind of decide if we want one.
[18:39]
I mean, that's six months lead time.
[18:44]
So by the time we buy everything else it'll probably look at it nine months to a year by time it's installed almost unless we get lucky.
[18:52]
Can you might just remind me where that was for the shelter?
[18:55]
It's replaced as the shelter number one that's there. The old straight one.
[19:01]
So we take that one car on.
[19:03]
That one out and put the new one right there.
[19:08]
And I thought I thought we put that on here and I apologize.
[19:15]
Can you, I mean, I don't know if I'm the only person who's reminded like Walt was just
[19:19]
the intention was just to upgrade it?
[19:20]
Yes.
[19:21]
Yeah.
[19:22]
The other one is that it needs a new concrete floor, the concrete floor has got some damage
[19:26]
to it.
[19:27]
So if you're going to do that, it makes sense, just to put a new shelter up, the old shelters
[19:31]
from 1984.
[19:32]
It's wood, it's got exposed rafters and a lot of things inside of it.
[19:37]
So this will be more of a shelter along the lines of what we have at Wallace, not.
[19:44]
I'm not quite that elaborate with this, but a nice three-four-on-three-sided shelter.
[19:50]
It's really nice.
[19:50]
And I apologize.
[19:51]
I thought we got this on there, and I didn't realize we didn't.
[19:57]
And it was in the budget, for the next 7-28.
[20:02]
We were going to, was it going to have to be moved a little bit because of the parking
[20:05]
line?
[20:05]
Yeah.
[20:06]
A little bit relocated just a little bit.
[20:08]
But it'll be right there in that scene.
[20:09]
And it's a different shape.
[20:10]
Yeah.
[20:10]
Yeah, the one we now have is long and straight.
[20:13]
It'll be moved to a T shape.
[20:16]
I'll make that more clear.
[20:17]
I'll send you out an email with all this attached to it,
[20:19]
with pictures and things like that.
[20:21]
I apologize.
[20:22]
So you had it had to be moved because of the parking lot.
[20:25]
And so if you're going to move it, you get a tear down.
[20:27]
So just get a new one.
[20:30]
Yeah, so I apologize.
[20:31]
I thought I got that in there and I was here.
[20:34]
So I will send that out this week.
[20:36]
There won't be any voting or anything like that online.
[20:38]
just pictures of the shelter and and general information on cost and stuff like that. I'll give you
[20:43]
three or four or five options to look at and then we'll vote on it the next meeting. Are we able to do
[20:48]
a shelter similar to how the bathrooms are being done? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. One I like is pretty cool.
[20:58]
It'll I think it'll match really well.
[21:03]
I mean as far as like avoiding the prevailing wage and
[21:07]
I doubt that we'll be able to get under prevailing wage on this. It'll be the shelter alone will part cost
[21:13]
75
[21:14]
Yeah, it'll be 120
[21:19]
I don't see any possible way of getting it under prevailing wage. Are you having to pull all the concrete up?
[21:26]
Yeah, yeah
[21:28]
That's a pretty easy thing though. We have a contract with focus and excavating
[21:31]
Yeah, you'll come in to get up haul it off is a part of our city bed. So we get a decent rate on that
[21:39]
And that's not part of that won't be part of the people building it so there won't be a mobilization of them
[21:45]
bringing bulldozers and jackhammers and all the stuff that they have to
[21:50]
So just run out there and take care of it
[21:52]
And I apologize again. I thought I had that on there
[22:03]
kind of the numbers from this year, if you look, we're very, very similar to last year obviously up from 24, but within $100 or $60 pretty much of what our totals were last year.
[22:19]
Parties were a group rate. Overall admission was a little down. That could be part of the passes.
[22:25]
is we're so more passable here so our daily rate is a little different but so we brought
[22:32]
in and that is from June through the poll season so it's not actually the budget year 26 but
[22:41]
is the poll season 58,000 and now I just put a note in there that our operating budget for
[22:49]
the pool is $115,000, so it will lose $7,000 a year at the pool.
[22:57]
So many of those numbers, what's not up, I mean it's cheap to get into the pool, you
[23:02]
know.
[23:02]
Especially if you need a dollar to get a number of people that generated, you have any
[23:06]
idea?
[23:07]
Well you take $5 to get in the pool, I could look, and I mean I got it on the computer on how
[23:14]
many people in there.
[23:15]
It's an amenity that is well used.
[23:17]
Oh, yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
[23:23]
Well, I mean, pools just are, as the nature goes,
[23:27]
the only pool I know within a reasonable distance,
[23:31]
if you want to call Republic a reasonable distance,
[23:33]
Republic's the only pool it makes close to their money back.
[23:37]
I'm not saying they make money, but they get close.
[23:40]
Well, I mean, it's probably just an amazing.
[23:48]
by making money or something. I'm basically saying they're paying the bills for water and that stuff. They aren't paying any debt service on them what they have. They probably have what now 12 million in that place.
[24:01]
Yeah, they probably have 12 to 14 million in the Republic by now maybe more
[24:06]
Well, they just added on a big chunk. Yeah, they added this year because I know people can play with the bill not parking
[24:13]
Yeah, yeah, the surf things been and it's actual
[24:17]
You don't even get admission into the surf thing if to buy if to buy another $10 wristband to build a surf. Yeah, you have to buy a surf pass-to-past
[24:25]
surf
[24:32]
It's really neat.
[24:35]
It's a nice pool system and they're a bedroom community from Springfield
[24:40]
and they get a lot of people from Wellard and Fair Grove and all those places Springfield
[24:45]
that go there. They don't have any real competition there for an aquatic park either. The closest
[24:52]
places white water and Branson so they don't have I mean there's nothing there's no they got a pretty
[24:59]
good pretty good deal right now because they really don't have any competition I mean there's
[25:06]
some other nice pools around down there don't get me wrong but nothing along a water park and
[25:11]
they're basically a water park I mean they're very similar to white water just maybe there's about 8,000
[25:19]
visitors? No, between admission, you know, plus another class is probably another thousand, so you're
[25:26]
9,000 people there. Yeah, that doesn't count. Yeah, that's not count pool parties or anything like that.
[25:33]
When you did the dollar days, was it, was it received pretty well? Pretty packed or no?
[25:40]
We didn't do, we had 300 people there. Yeah, that's not what we might, but it was hot.
[25:46]
But, and that's typically with something you see at the pool when it gets above 95 or so people don't want to go to pool either.
[25:53]
It's a concrete and all, you know, there's just.
[25:55]
Parents don't want to sit out.
[25:57]
Yes, I don't know.
[25:57]
The parents don't want to go.
[25:58]
It's a good one for them.
[25:59]
The parents don't want to go.
[26:02]
I mean, we got people there.
[26:04]
We've probably got $50 on the day.
[26:08]
It's a great idea.
[26:11]
And we'll probably look at doing some of that more in May with your guys as guidance.
[26:16]
we may try to set some guidelines that if it's going to be 100 or it's going to be 95 or something
[26:22]
along those lines when we open that we just automatically charge a dollar that day and make it out
[26:29]
so the public knows about that might have been a little bit of our issue too on those dollar days.
[26:33]
It was kind of a last minute let's do this type thing and there wasn't a whole lot of time for
[26:39]
people to plan and let's face it if pull opens at 11 30 and you're at work it's hard to get your kids
[26:44]
there. If you don't have a couple days to make plans sometimes. Did you see a spike in
[26:50]
concessions or anything? A little bit, but not a whole lot. There were decent. They were decent.
[27:01]
Lead tournaments. We've had two tournaments so far. This is what we quit when it took the
[27:06]
like the month off kind of. We had 22 teams first week, 11 teams the second. We have tournaments
[27:13]
It's coming up the next seven weekends there.
[27:17]
We started adult league, soft, church softball,
[27:20]
on September 1st with 10 teams sign up,
[27:23]
which last year we had eight,
[27:25]
so we did improve two teams,
[27:28]
and then I know we won't run soccer, we get it ready.
[27:31]
They started August 31st and have 18 teams registered
[27:35]
in their five age groups for the soccer season.
[27:41]
Questions with any?
[27:50]
I'm going to say no, because I'm guessing, but I don't know, you know, something pretty good, or I've got to go back and look at other years.
[28:01]
I knew that one of the complaints I heard this year was that a lot of folks just didn't hear about it.
[28:05]
I think the only place it was advertised was Facebook and my several friends whose parents
[28:11]
said I would have signed my get up but I didn't hear about it so I wouldn't be surprised
[28:15]
of their numbers were done.
[28:16]
No two leagues only had two teams in it.
[28:19]
Just when I was looking at schedules on paint and sock or whatever but I'm not sure on their
[28:24]
overall.
[28:25]
How many kids are on team?
[28:27]
I think it maxed out at 12.
[28:29]
Well, in theory there's that older boys they didn't have enough coaches and so there was
[28:34]
going to be two coaches with like 18 boys on each team and a number parents then backed
[28:42]
out because they didn't want they didn't think that was conducive to a we tried that
[28:47]
see if good fun environment so about 210 kids probably on 18 just still a nice turn
[28:54]
out yeah but they've been 300 plus in recent seasons so I'm if that's your your calculation
[29:00]
And I would say venture to say that the temperature probably didn't help because it had already turned out really dry and already started getting pretty hot.
[29:10]
And everything was coming out loud and range forecast saying it was going to be hot, hot, hot, hot.
[29:14]
So can anything be sent out like through the schools for that for kids today?
[29:19]
Well, that's the problem, it's already signed up sorority before school started that they closed the Friday before school.
[29:25]
Yeah, that was another reason why it turned out it was done.
[29:28]
Yeah, school started later this year too.
[29:31]
Yeah, no, it was, I think there's several reasons he certainly late schools or early school, late school, whatever it was.
[29:45]
That's the Churchill league, that's all we do is Churchill league anymore for adults.
[29:51]
We tried doing, we used to have co-ed and men's league and it's just died down to where you'd get four teams.
[30:00]
Even last year we had an outside company, KMN, it's called Average Joe Softball, where instead of coming as teams, you sign up as individuals and they let you get a buddy to guarantee your own team and did like a draft league, and they had, I think, six teams, but by the end of it, even the people that paid upfront weren't showing up, and they were down to like two teams the last week or two of it and stuff, so it's just-
[30:28]
But this 10 numbers grown, grown something though, right? That's a
[30:31]
pretty good thing that we have, which we have three new churches this year.
[30:37]
Okay. Well, you guys have a hundred churches in the town.
[30:40]
So I was going to say we've got a, we have one from Payton, and we've never,
[30:44]
that added on which the guy that goes there has always played Lebman church ball.
[30:49]
And now I guess he goes to Camden, so he brought them in and stuff.
[30:53]
But we did have three new churches playing this year and stuff.
[31:00]
So kids are so busy. It's hard for adults to play. I think that's why it has killed a lot of adult sports, truth, honestly. It's kids are so busy with sports that's why I quit playing.
[31:13]
Didn't have time anymore.
[31:17]
Yeah, exactly. And it's not just us that's struggling. I mean, you know,
[31:22]
Springfield, Branson, everybody used to have these big tournaments with 30-40 teams
[31:26]
in them on a weekend. And now they're almost no tournaments at all. And their
[31:30]
legs are doing the same thing hard to get, hard to get people. And I know it's
[31:34]
probably a different correlation, but people, you know, I mean some adults have
[31:39]
just transitioned over to that because it's easier to have two people or four. That's a
[31:43]
but instead of nine. A lot of the stuff we're learning is nobody wants
[31:47]
organized stuff. They want, like you said, pickleball to where they can call a
[31:51]
buddy on a Tuesday and go play and not have that commitment to. It was
[31:54]
still a day. You still get to do something. It's not competitive and it's about
[31:58]
it, you know. Well, no, it's a problem with the average show. The thing is a good
[32:01]
idea. It's a good concept, but if you're not committed to it, you're gonna quit
[32:04]
showing up. Yeah. That's why like this golf saying popular because you can play
[32:09]
any time and just grab a buddy and whatever day of the week you guys are free
[32:14]
you can go out and play a game or something pick up and I'm always surprised you
[32:19]
know when I go to Ashley Park how many people I mean it's consistent with the
[32:23]
Frisbee golf someone's always out there playing you know always there's always
[32:28]
someone at least at least two or three people out there playing and then as you
[32:33]
walk through it's like oh there's someone over here and I'm saying it doesn't
[32:37]
matter.
[32:41]
You actually have 20 people are more playing, but you
[32:43]
doesn't. It doesn't feel like it because it's so spread out.
[32:46]
And they're like, man, a lot of people are playing. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
[32:49]
So they like the layout of the course to do it. It's a good course.
[32:54]
It is. Yeah, I mean, I don't, I don't play a big popular. Yeah, it
[32:58]
is. It is. We have a lot of people from out of town that stop and
[33:02]
play just on their way. It's the only sport I've seen the
[33:35]
easy for us to know because that's where we're at all the time and they're always busy.
[33:39]
I mean, there's people coming in going all day long, every day, all day, which is good.
[33:46]
That's what we want.
[33:47]
And it's really got a good safety component to it because there's so many, the more people,
[33:54]
the safer it is.
[33:54]
Yes.
[33:55]
Yes.
[33:56]
The nature of it.
[33:57]
Yeah.
[33:58]
I had a question on the, do we have any baseball, youth leagues in the fall?
[34:04]
We don't do anything in the fall, or baseball.
[34:06]
My question is going to be, but do you have the question came up over the past couple
[34:10]
of days with the soccerers, you know, what the high-hots too hot?
[34:12]
Does the baseball have like policy for, like even for tournaments, like the wet, what's
[34:19]
it called, the wet?
[34:19]
All glow, time, there's no, okay.
[34:27]
But we are starting to see that a lot more in youth programs that are run by the stadiums.
[34:34]
I mean, I think if I had a, I would recommend that the baseball does have one because
[34:40]
There's a lot of concern as you get heat advisories, you know, especially for raccoleagues when is it too hot for kids to be out and just kind of that clear kind of readings on when it's this we don't do this most of the most of that stuff is activities where the kids don't get a break.
[35:03]
you know football soccer those activities running there's no break you know
[35:08]
when you run you run your whole five miles when you play football you may come
[35:12]
to the sideline but you're still standing up in the heat and everything
[35:14]
else baseball is a little bit unique in that kids do get to go the dugout they do
[35:19]
get in the shade they do get a chance to break get water they do get a chance for a
[35:24]
break in there or some of the other ones don't so I think that that was a little
[35:28]
different but yeah I would I think that we maybe need to investigate.
[35:33]
I think it's smart to have something in place that when when you are dealing with really
[35:37]
hot temperatures you just got something that's an easy decision versus how we'll play
[35:42]
it by ear and we'll see how it feels which is confusing.
[35:45]
We can look at it.
[35:45]
Let's look at it and see what we can come up with.
[35:52]
That's all we have.
[35:53]
Well, any comments from the board?
[35:56]
One.
[35:57]
And kind of going back to Ashley and her you're talking about the safety it is.
[36:00]
It's phenomenal.
[36:01]
I kind of brought this up, I think maybe to you John, there is a homeless man and actually in my only big thing is he used to kind of be down in the pavilion that was open.
[36:12]
He's moved up into the kids area and a lot of times you got moms and kids that are going in there and I just hate to see that as if I was a mom with young kids, I would probably like, I would probably go someplace else.
[36:26]
just because it is partially if not fully fenced in that area like it just yeah I agree 100%
[36:34]
with your sediment. He does leave and come back. He doesn't spend the night there. Unfortunately.
[36:41]
The cops have talked to him. He leaves 11030 and shows back up at 6.
[36:49]
There's just nothing you get. I mean the parks are open to the public.
[36:51]
Yeah. There's not until he does something, you know, he doesn't leave trash. He picks up after himself. He comes and goes. I, he, he seems not. He, I've talked to you about, you know, he picks up trash. If a lightbulbs out somewhere, he comes and tells me that we want to move up into, I know, yeah, it's just kind of one of them, I understand. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. Yeah. But he, like I said, he came up this morning and told that we had a hot one.
[37:21]
problem in the bathroom. Yeah, that it was hot water was hooked up wrong and guess what?
[37:26]
He was right. Yeah, he makes notes. I mean, yeah, I don't know. I'm in a part-time position.
[37:36]
I don't know. Speaking of trash, he's checking on things. I mean, might make people feel
[37:40]
safer if they don't want to turn on. I mean, nice. And he seems that he's been there for two years.
[37:45]
Yeah, he's been there for a while because he kind of migrated over. We started down
[37:49]
the lower pavilion then he moved over to the church for a little while he sleeps under the church
[37:58]
as pavilion a lot of times and then I've noticed him he's he's ping ponged around a little bit and
[38:05]
that but as long as he keeps doing that it that makes it within the lawn there's just not much
[38:10]
much. I know he's told me the cops have came but I'm not camping here so there's nothing
[38:15]
and he's doing their own.
[38:17]
Well, he's aware that he's being watched.
[38:20]
So maybe that is also up.
[38:22]
But I just know as if you're coming in with your young kids,
[38:26]
I would leave my kid in the playground with the other.
[38:29]
Yeah, I would neither.
[38:30]
That was my only kind of concern with it
[38:33]
is it's going to probably start turning people away
[38:36]
if it hasn't already.
[38:37]
I grew home.
[38:40]
I got to play in the new pickable courts.
[38:42]
It actually for the first time on Monday
[38:44]
in their fabulous and those who play their regularly just cannot speak highly enough about
[38:48]
the likes, the court, everything, and they just say we need more. And they just say
[38:54]
it's always that's so regularly used, it's so full. I think great work and they want
[39:00]
more. And I think I hate to build more out there at this particular time, just I'll give
[39:06]
you my two cents worth, especially with the new part coming online, eventually out off Mount
[39:13]
because I think that if we're going to build more pickleball courts we need them in a different location so they're not all in the same spot.
[39:19]
That way the kids that live in that side of town will have a place that they can go play like my kid does there now.
[39:27]
You know, he couldn't jump on your scooter and ride from over there to the pickleball courts where my kids do now.
[39:32]
So I think that I know it's inconvenient for a little while but I think maybe we wait.
[39:39]
And I do think there's not that my son plays every single day and he'd never he doesn't have to wait
[39:45]
He said usually more than like a game. Where's you know, I mean like it's staying busy
[39:49]
But he's not going over and sitting for there's a lot of people seem to take turns
[39:55]
Yeah, they do. Yeah, people seem to be taking turns, but it's busy
[39:58]
And I think it would be even busier if we had more courts
[40:01]
I just don't know that building courts there and then turn around and two years build more courts on the south side of town
[40:08]
that we don't over build then too, I don't know, parks. That's you guys. If you guys want to build
[40:12]
some more, I mean, they're in the park world. They're pretty affordable. I mean, they're not
[40:20]
a playground. You can't, we can build four pickleball courts easily for less than a playground.
[40:26]
Isn't, isn't there like a big piece, like, a parking park over across the road?
[40:34]
Yeah,
[40:34]
Yeah, I mean parks. Yeah, yeah, not all of it. I think it's actually kind of a tree line is that yeah, there's a we have that side until like the
[40:44]
Carthell track. It's about a fifth
[40:47]
About fifth of it on the other side of the road. Yeah, so it's possible. We threw a couple over there just to pass five
[40:52]
Everyone so we get Mount Rose going. I mean, that's within the realm of possibility. Yeah, I mean easy maintenance
[40:58]
That would be nice how someone my side of the intersting.
[41:04]
Yeah, no, I get that.
[41:06]
Yeah.
[41:08]
The only, again, my only thought on that one is that it's not easy accessible for the kids.
[41:16]
Parents still would have to drive them.
[41:18]
I like, especially like Elliott, you know, my son, they four o'clock as soon as they get home.
[41:24]
Hey, we're going to play pickleball.
[41:25]
before long there's 10 I'm all going to play Peckaball. Everyone I'm shows up on a scooter, a bicycle, skateboards, golf cart electric bike because they can't pedal anymore.
[41:34]
Yeah, no, yeah. That'd be a sad. So my grandma's out in the accessible parking. Yeah, here's good to her.
[41:44]
There's a lot of the gifts on the other side right down the road. Yeah, yeah, we got all those partners coming to. I forgot about that. Yeah.
[41:58]
We don't have anything in the budget next year than with 600,000 in the following year and 600,000 in the next two years.
[42:06]
It's going to be two years.
[42:13]
Four of them will probably be 60, 75, something like that.
[42:19]
and I get you a more firm number.
[42:21]
I would have to just see, I can't remember how much asphalt
[42:24]
there dried off the top of my head.
[42:26]
I wouldn't prepare that question.
[42:27]
So, I mean, it's a point we could just build too.
[42:32]
Those are probably going to connect to Harkie, right?
[42:34]
And isn't there a walk?
[42:35]
Pretty close, right there.
[42:36]
Yeah, those apartments will be right there.
[42:38]
They'll be right there.
[42:39]
There's a part of the plan is to have a,
[42:42]
if there's a fence, it's going to be gone.
[42:44]
Is there a whole new privacy fence all the way around there?
[42:47]
Well, along the walkway there, I think at the end it is there is, but I was surprised to see a full fence up there.
[43:03]
I drove by Wallace 10 o'clock the other night and there was like eight cars back there and all ages or kids playing basketball or pickleball at the old seats.
[43:16]
I mean, if you guys really if you want to, I'll obviously
[43:21]
let me yell at Brennan and a couple people and I'll have you a price for next week.
[43:25]
I think that's a yeah, I think that's something that we don't like to see.
[43:29]
Okay. Well, don't make that happen. That's an easy pull.
[43:33]
Yeah, that's an easy job. And it seems like the community wants it.
[43:36]
Mm-hmm. Oh yeah. You're kind of spreading it out and making accessible for more.
[43:41]
or just not one set.
[43:42]
I agree.
[43:42]
And so on that, you guys look at the latch on the Pickleball court door.
[43:48]
It seems like get hung up.
[43:50]
I have an old lady telling me that she couldn't get it to latch or something.
[43:55]
I'll check and see.
[43:55]
I'm not.
[43:56]
Yeah.
[43:56]
Do you have anything in the plans to, or potentially could we host Pickleball tournaments?
[44:02]
We have one coming up.
[44:04]
Somebody's renting them an auto.
[44:05]
Are they renting them?
[44:08]
They're renting them.
[44:09]
Yeah, how does that work financially like what's the cost or what are we we've said at a hundred dollars this first time and
[44:16]
That's kind of like our all-day shelter rental price and when you always go from there
[44:21]
They since there are no restrooms or tell them they have to provide for the bodies
[44:26]
You know when you have that many people there with
[44:29]
$100 for all-for-court for yeah, okay
[44:33]
And where's that?
[44:34]
that. Plus they have to do put a potty so that'll be it. They're going a couple hundred
[44:39]
there. A church is going to fund for a pickle ball tag. Actually, yeah. Is there
[44:44]
way to post that the pickle ball courts will be running out that day? We will. Okay. Is there
[44:51]
an information board you could put up there?
[44:55]
Yeah, we can put a boat board up. Yeah, similar.
[44:57]
Yeah, you know, like a...
[45:00]
That way, someone wants to put up, you know, they wanted to play pickleball, like start a little league or whatever, maybe a little board, make it post stuff, or if it was going to be closed for something or anything like that. That's rented out, you know, and that way everyone has plenty of time. You know, you can. Yeah, I think that's okay. Well, hopefully most of our people that are playing a lot will know about the tournament because hopefully they'll be playing in the tournament. That's all.
[45:33]
We just were in the process and we're getting it all set up right now, date the 24th of October, maybe some time up, I thought it was kind of late, but yeah, it was when they had it reason.
[45:44]
That's just in a couple weeks.
[45:50]
Yeah, that's still okay.
[45:52]
Yeah, it's a month. I guess for September, they were still on it. We're getting closer, October.
[45:57]
How much set up at Lace those are going to do? I don't even know if you have on-pires or if you just
[46:01]
refute yourself. I don't think you refute yourself. It'll be ref yourself and I'm sure it'll be.
[46:06]
Yeah, but that's over 24. Oh, the field supervisor for a citywide tournament.
[46:10]
Remind me of plan to 6 p.m. The Boswell courts. We had any just because someone was commenting like
[46:16]
just how they are in disrepairs, what they told me.
[46:20]
We talked about those at all, and what our plans are for.
[46:24]
We haven't really discussed anything there.
[46:26]
They're the only thing that they really need as new nets.
[46:28]
And we're trying to find the right size nets now.
[46:32]
For tennis or for pick-a-ball?
[46:34]
Tennis.
[46:35]
You're trying to reset it up for tennis?
[46:36]
Yeah, it can be, it's both, but the net is different for pick-a-ball it is for tennis.
[46:42]
I think we talked about it one time to to leave some tennis like just it's got the painted line
[46:48]
So you could look at the ball, but it's painted for the net is a little higher than
[46:54]
Tennis tennis that's higher than a pipette ball net
[47:00]
Yeah, yeah, there's some people to play there when you didn't you have the
[47:06]
The net
[47:08]
Arriving it was wrong. So yeah, yeah, we got a new net. It was the wrong one
[47:16]
No, I'm going to be the poster too close together.
[47:22]
Okay. Well, I've been no one has anything. We'll just call this a meeting adjourned.
