chumash peoples.

we honor and pay respect to
[0:34]
their elders and descendants
[0:39]
past, present, and emerging as
[0:41]
they continue their stewardship
[0:43]
of these lands and waters.

we acknowledge that settler
[0:46]
colonization resulted in land
[0:48]
seizure, disease, subjugation,
[0:54]
slavery, relocation, broken
[0:56]
promises, genocide, and
[1:01]
multigenerational trauma.

this acknowledgment demonstrates

our responsibility and

commitment to truth, healing,

and reconciliation and to

elevating the stories, culture,

and community of the original

inhabitants of los angeles

we are grateful to have the
