[0:32] chumash peoples.
[0:33] we honor and pay respect to
[0:34] their elders and descendants
[0:39] past, present, and emerging as
[0:41] they continue their stewardship
[0:43] of these lands and waters.
[0:44] we acknowledge that settler
[0:46] colonization resulted in land
[0:48] seizure, disease, subjugation,
[0:54] slavery, relocation, broken
[0:56] promises, genocide, and
[1:01] multigenerational trauma.
[1:05] this acknowledgment demonstrates
[1:07] our responsibility and
[1:09] commitment to truth, healing,
[1:11] and reconciliation and to
[1:13] elevating the stories, culture,
[1:15] and community of the original
[1:16] inhabitants of los angeles
[1:18] county.
[1:21] we are grateful to have the
[1:22] opportunity to live and work on
[1:24] these ancestral lands. We are
[1:26] dedicated to growing and
[1:27] sustaining relationships with
[1:29] native peoples and local tribal
[1:38] governments, including (in no
[1:39] particular order) the:

[1:42] mission indians.

[1:44] california tribal council.
