[0:50] Hello, Mayor.
[1:03] Hello to you both.
[1:07] Good
[1:11] morning folks, evening folks.
[1:16] Hello, everybody. I had a trouble finding the meeting on the town web page, but it is under government.
[1:30] Did you find that by yourself or did you see my email?
[1:34] No, I found it on myself.
[1:36] Well, yeah.
[1:37] But it's with the amp that a little bit, meeting a little easier to find.
[1:45] Well, you know, I couldn't find it.
[1:48] I couldn't find it.
[1:50] And Tanya couldn't find it.
[1:52] So I'm hoping the rest of the folks do.
[1:56] the link on Facebook is how I found it very easy so anybody that's following the
[2:01] town page can find it there too. Okay well you know we're trying to hit any and all
[2:10] types of social media and we're not huge we're not only human but you know
[2:18] on occasion we make mistakes. Big mistakes sometimes we make mistakes. We try very
[2:25] hard. So let's give folks a bit to call in or to email only got participants so far.
[2:52] You know, getting getting used to social media is not something for us faint of heart
[3:01] or computer knowledge, it's just what it is, and will we try?
[3:13] It's of us technically challenged.
[3:17] That's it is a high.
[3:20] Hi, John's been a while. How are you?
[3:26] Doing good. You're in the shop.
[3:29] Glad to see you came back from camp and that looked awful nice.
[3:31] I don't know about it. Come back.
[3:34] Oh, come back for this. Can I get more food?
[3:38] Oh, well, okay.
[3:38] Probably a little beer too, maybe.
[3:46] Will wait a minute or a couple minutes and give everybody a chance we have 14 participants.
[3:53] Now we're gaining on them.
[3:55] And I want to thank all who put this together.
[4:01] This is, you know, like everything on zoom when we can get out of zoom,
[4:09] it'll be better. But it does serve a purpose.
[4:17] And during our day meetings, I've learned it before I
[4:20] might mouth to unmute myself. And when I don't, everybody else says, yeah, I'm mute yourself. So
[4:30] that's okay. I for what I'm going to miss being able to mute myself.
[4:39] I'll have to stop boring sweatpins to work too. That really stinks.
[4:54] My boss is going to be unhappy because I'm going to be leaving early to be able to make it back to
[4:58] and for meetings and he's not going to like that because there's no do I work until 615 tonight.
[5:04] So he can just deal with it.
[5:08] I actually got out of the office about three o'clock today and I was very pleased.
[5:13] And you.
[5:15] There was an important reason that I did that actually was two,
[5:18] three because my grandson came in unexpectedly.
[5:24] And no, I'm going to go see Toby.
[5:27] Good for you. Good choice.
[5:30] Yes.
[5:32] Okay, folks.
[5:34] This is the town of Maldon community development block grant public hearing on May 20, 2021.
[5:45] Let's get started please.
[5:47] All participants should note that this hearing is being recorded and a link to the reporting recording will be posted
[5:56] at Maldonwa.org by May 27th.
[6:03] So, welcome everyone to the Towns Public Hearing
[6:06] regarding the Towns planned applications for Steve Grant funds
[6:11] to help construct the Fire Station Town Hall building
[6:15] and planning fees for the Town Park.
[6:20] In Town Trail System that connects the trailhead
[6:24] with a great American rail to trail, locally known as the
[6:29] Plistic Ascades Trail, development in the trailhead area, and the RV park.
[6:37] There you go. We're hosting this hearing to tell you about both these projects,
[6:43] answer your questions about the projects, and here any concerns you may have
[6:49] about the projects or any or other community needs. Information about the projects being submitted
[6:58] and about the hearing have been made available on the Towns website and hard copies have been made
[7:06] available at Town Hall. Please note that we only have an hour for this evening and if we do not
[7:15] get to your question or concern, you may email us at townofmoldenwa at gmail.com or stop
[7:26] and see making it or I at Town Hall.
[7:30] Friday, Friday, May 28, 5 PM. You can also write down your questions or concerns and drop them at Town Hall.
[7:42] Please note that if you have extension, extensive questions or comments for the sake of time, a lot of it, and to give as many people possible.
[7:52] The chance to send you may be asked to submit your questions or concerns in writing to the mayor or town clerk by the 28th deadline.
[8:05] The town has adopted a grievance procedure and will refer to this procedure if necessary regarding any feedback or questions about the projects being submitted to the state.
[8:20] This procedure is available for residents to review at Town Hall during business hours, and we
[8:28] be well posted on the Town's website.
[8:34] Jody Opine, our grant manager for the long term recovery organization, will now take a few
[8:45] minutes to explain the CDBG program what projects are eligible for funding and what the town has
[8:55] selected for funding given the restrictions and Maldon's particular situation. Please hold any
[9:03] questions until I open the floor for public comment as this information may answer any of the
[9:11] questions that you may have.
[9:16] Jody will read out the following information for you folks.
[9:21] Thank you, Jody.
[9:24] What is CDBG?
[9:26] The Community Development Block Grant Program is funded by the U.S.
[9:30] Department of Housing and Urban Development HUD
[9:33] to benefit low and moderate income residents
[9:35] through city and county projects.
[9:38] CDBG grants to entities and Whitman County
[9:41] are administered through the Washington State Department of Commerce.
[9:45] There are several different kinds of grants, but Maldon will be applying for two general
[9:49] purpose grants, one for construction and one for planning.
[9:54] What can these particular funds be used for?
[9:58] The state has prioritized its general purpose grants for sewer, water, and transportation activities
[10:04] that address public health and safety, community facilities, economic development, affordable
[10:11] housing but not new housing construction and certain planning activities, funds cannot be used
[10:18] to construct government buildings such as town offices, maintenance shop, or post office.
[10:25] What projects does the town want to have considered for CDBG funding?
[10:31] For the general purpose construction grant application, the town is requesting the maximum
[10:36] $900,000 toward the cost of building a fire station, which will include four vehicle base,
[10:44] workspace for public safety vehicles and equipment maintenance, public safety of public
[10:49] safety equipment and supply storage, restrooms and shower, a small kitchen and a training room.
[10:57] For the planning grant application, we are requesting the maximum of $30,000 to help fund a comprehensive
[11:04] plan for building an in-town trail system that connects to the guard trail head, the area around
[11:11] the trail head, an RV park, and a new town park. We believe this connected outdoor recreation
[11:17] system will bring economic benefits to the town, as well as providing beautiful outdoor spaces
[11:23] and recreation opportunities for everyone living in and visiting Maldon. Why a fire station?
[11:31] don't we need a library and food pantry first or funding for our water and sewer systems?
[11:37] The town has already received funding for water system improvements from the state 3.7 million from
[11:43] public works and has multiple requests submitted for federal funding for a new sewer system.
[11:50] Given the allowed activities for the general purpose grant, community facilities,
[11:55] meets most meets our needs.
[11:58] The other community facility, the Community Center,
[12:01] which will also house the library and food pantry,
[12:04] has other funding sources available,
[12:07] contributions from private, corporate, and foundation donors.
[12:11] These sources will not require the town
[12:13] to pay a prevailing wage for construction.
[12:16] However, both CDBG funds and insurance proceeds
[12:19] will require that prevailing wages be paid.
[12:22] Where we do use any portion of CDBG or insurance funds to build the community center, prevailing wages must be paid for all construction activities.
[12:33] Another reason for submitting the fire station facility is that we are still almost constantly under threat of another wildfire event.
[12:40] We need to be able to defend the town from fire, a new station and upgraded equipment together with extended water service and additional hydrants, as well as creating a defensible fire barrier around the town, will put us in the best position to do that.
[12:57] In addition, each resident taking steps to minimize the spread of wildfire around their home and out buildings will also help us prevent another devastating fire event in Malin.
[13:07] Simply put, a fire station is a critical need that is best met with government grant funding.
[13:15] Why do we need another comprehensive plan?
[13:18] If funded, the $30,000 from this grant will be used to expand the scope of work with SCJ Alliance
[13:25] to include a comprehensive outdoor plan for trails, recreation and green spaces.
[13:31] The current plan covers housing, infrastructure, business district and roadways.
[13:35] We want to not only provide great safe spaces for children to play and our residents to enjoy their town,
[13:42] but also to create outdoor recreation that entices visitors and new residents.
[13:48] We also want to maximize the Gart Trailhead and use this as an opportunity to spur community and economic development,
[13:55] such as cafes, coffee shop, London Mac, campground, small convenience store, bike rental business, et cetera.
[14:03] If you have already decided what you are submitting, why are we here?
[14:07] The purpose of this hearing is to let residents know the town is applying for two CDBG grants.
[14:13] What projects we are submitting for funding consideration and to answer any questions you may
[14:18] have about those projects, the application process, or the community's needs in general?
[14:24] A copy of the final applications will be made available on the town's website by June 4 for residents
[14:30] to review if desired and a link to the recording from this hearing will also be available on the
[14:36] town website by May 27. Is there a cost to the town to apply? The town will have to pay for any
[14:44] required environmental or cultural resource reviews related to the proposed construction site.
[14:50] We estimate these reviews will cost approximately $5,500 and this will be paid with FEMA public
[14:56] assistance funds. The grant manager hired by
[15:00] A LTRO will complete the application and the town's mayor and construction manager will help oversee the construction.
[15:08] If funded, how much will the town receive? Each application will request the maximum amount, which is $900,000 for the general purpose construction application and $30,000 for the planning application. If funded, the amount granted may not be the full amounts requested.
[15:26] The building will also have town offices, how can you use this grant to pay for that space?
[15:33] We will pro-rate the application as allowed by the state to only cover costs associated with allowable construction,
[15:40] all space related to the fire station and public safety training.
[15:44] How will you pay for the town offices and shop?
[15:47] We will use insurance proceeds.
[15:51] How much will this build in cost?
[15:54] Total construction cost is not yet known.
[15:56] However, the deadline to apply for CDBG grants is June 2nd,
[16:00] and we do not want to miss this opportunity to secure funds for the building.
[16:05] We will have preliminary budget information on the building before the June 2nd deadline.
[16:10] When will we know if Maldon received the grants?
[16:13] Resipience will be announced in September, along with the amounts granted.
[16:18] When will construction start and when will it be finished?
[16:20] If funded, we are working to have construction start this fall with an anticipated completion of early spring 2022.
[16:29] Where can I send questions and comments about these projects?
[16:33] Questions, complaints, or grievances about the CDBG application process must be submitted in writing using one of the following methods.
[16:42] Delivered to Town Hall located at 204 Westmoreland on Tuesday, St.
[16:48] Thursdays between 9 and 4, 9am and 4pm, dropped through the mail slot at Town Hall.
[16:56] Delivered via US mail to the town of Malden, Peelbox 248,
[17:01] Maldon Washington, 99149, or you may send an email to town of Maldonwalk
[17:08] at gmail.com.
[17:09] If you are unable to write or email your comments, you may stop by in person, or call 509-569-3771,
[17:20] and talk to Mayor Dan Harwood, or Mickey Harnellite, town clerk.
[17:25] All CDBG related complaints and grievances must be received or postmarked by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021.
[17:34] A written response to your questions, complaints or grievances will be sent to you within 15
[17:40] working days were practicable. Please include your name and mailing address. A copy of the
[17:46] town's grievance procedure can be found at moldenwall.org.
[17:52] Thank you, Jody. I am now opening the hearing for public comment and questions.
[18:05] These are grants that we are looking at and so it would be not something that we would
[18:11] maybe having to try to repay?
[18:13] It is not.
[18:14] These are grants.
[18:17] These will not have any tax liability on the citizens.
[18:24] Wow, that's awesome.
[18:27] Yeah.
[18:34] Oh, go next, this coming.
[18:37] I want to understand better the eligibility requirements
[18:44] with not being available for government buildings. Is that just about not being available
[18:52] to construct buildings that a government would own? Or, for example, if we did want to use
[18:58] the funds to build a community center that had space that we could lease to the United States post office,
[19:08] the townwood, it would be a community building, but it could we lease it to the USPS. I just want
[19:16] to make sure that I'm clear about the eligibility requirements and that I make sure that I
[19:21] understand how that works with not being available for postal service. No idea what you'd like
[19:27] to answer that or I can do it. I'll give you my thoughts and then if Dan wants to add to that.
[19:34] We were trying very hard to stay away from any space that would be government activity related
[19:40] and getting into leasing that space to the post office and muddy that line.
[19:45] And so we are trying to keep it clean and avoid mixing some funds for prevailing wage purposes.
[19:50] Did you have anything to add to that?
[19:52] I do. And that is concerning the community center.
[19:57] We have two separate buildings and the rules are very clear on what we can and can't do.
[20:07] To not have to wait utilize prevailing wage.
[20:14] And the reason for that is prevailing wage will increase considerable the cost of each building.
[20:22] So we're trying to utilize funds that we have to maximize what we can have for the community.
[20:36] Thank you. That was part two of my question was to understand why in these times we wouldn't want to pay prevailing wage.
[20:44] Because it seems like not paying prevailing wage just increases the burden on the building industry.
[20:50] So I wasn't following why we would be trying to avoid that.
[20:54] Colleen, it's nice to support the building industry, but we have to look what we can do for Maldon.
[21:03] Are there any other questions or comments at this time?
[21:12] We have 17 participants.
[21:16] And well, I know that Jody did a fantastic job answering questions, but I can't help but think there must be a comment or a thought.
[21:27] Please.
[21:29] can I ask this question? Sure. I just want to make sure that I
[21:34] felt it correctly. Part of one of these grants is that RV Park or that was on one of the
[21:39] other grants that we got when we were explaining that. Go ahead, Jillie. So the planning grant
[21:45] that we're applying for for the $30,000 would include outdoor space recreation and that
[21:50] would include an RV park to maximize the use on that trailhead. Oh, cool. And then
[21:56] And that would be like a free RV park or would the city collect some income off of that.
[22:02] I'll let Dan in to that one.
[22:04] Well, that's yet to be determined.
[22:06] I would imagine that there would be fees because there will be maintenance that will be being
[22:13] incurred for that type of project.
[22:17] Is that okay, Rachel?
[22:19] Perfect.
[22:20] That's fabulous.
[22:21] See you guys are doing an amazing job looking out for the future model.
[22:24] and then I really appreciate it.
[22:26] Thank you.
[22:27] Michelle Vandam.
[22:31] To clarify, there was a mention of a park, is this an additional park or is this referring to the same Maldon park?
[22:42] This is the same. Go ahead, Jody. This will be the town park for Maldon.
[22:48] The same park.
[22:58] Thank you, Michelle, for asking questions.
[23:04] Since we don't have a lot of people, could you help us understand why we hold off
[23:11] on any kind of fire department until we can get this funding in place with it?
[23:17] With this funding be available, for instance, if we use the insurance to build back a
[23:22] fire department that we can do with insurance, would we be able to have this funding to
[23:28] expand that rather than have no fired apartment until spring of 22. What are the options
[23:37] therefore as far as total construction of the the big fired apartment we want with the training
[23:44] and everything and the four base versus building back what we can with our replacement coverage
[23:51] insurance and then seeking this funding to expand that.
[23:55] Colleen, one of the concerns that we have is cost of materials, but we anticipate we will
[24:03] have a facility to store and keep the fire trucks warm over winter.
[24:12] It may not be perfect, it'll be closer as that correct, Joey.
[24:16] Yes, and also just to add to that Colleen, if we start working on the grounds, slated for the
[24:23] and start working on the building that pretty much nullifies and makes very difficult adding CDBG funds
[24:30] to finish off that building because there are environmental, review and cultural review requirements,
[24:37] and that will make that almost impossible to apply for a CDBG grant to add to that building.
[24:46] Thank you. Janelle, does anyone else have any comments or questions?
[25:02] It is 722, we have a few minutes here folks, so there are still 17 participants and I hope someone else has got a question.
[25:17] This is very important to us to interact with the community and let us know what you're thinking.
[25:28] Please ask questions.
[25:34] Boydler, Michelle, go ahead,
[25:44] bandite, go ahead.
[25:49] I forgot to unmute myself.
[25:55] Will the RV Park impact property values?
[26:04] Conversely, we hope that it will increase property values by showcasing what we have in our town.
[26:12] and letting folks come, visit, and then down the road, they say,
[26:19] ha, you know, when we were visiting that little town of Maldon along the
[26:23] close to Cascade's highway, they had the things that we would like and
[26:29] things that we can grow on and make a future for our cities.
[26:37] Does that answer your
[26:38] question Michelle? I would be hopeful because I would like to
[26:44] you know, embrace that with hope. I just cautionary tale. I wouldn't want it to see
[26:50] want to see something like that. Go into disrepair and then negatively impact the property
[26:55] values of the neighbors around wherever that would be located. You know, like any property,
[27:06] if it's left in disrepair and negatively impacts the properties around it, whether it's an
[27:11] be Parker or something else. So guess that's, you know, just we all owe it to each other to do our best
[27:21] together.
[27:25] Absolutely. I agree with you. Totally.
[27:30] That's why if we, if we do this correctly,
[27:39] you know, it doesn't have to be 20 lots to begin. If we start with five and have success with
[27:46] you know, we can go on and increase it. But it doesn't have to be big to serve the purpose.
[27:58] You know, maybe four lights is all we need. But that's, you know, it's a great idea.
[28:07] So this is ideas and thank you for your comment and thoughts on this.
[28:16] But to clarify, it would just be like a short term camp ground RV spot, not where people would be living, correct?
[28:23] The rules that we have in place will not allow someone to live in that facility for more than I believe two weeks without permission
[28:36] of the council. And that's been consistent for the last five years. So, Janelle.
[28:47] I remember when the past funders were here, they were talking about doing a lot of fundraising
[28:52] and being able to try to do the park without any of the existing funds that have been incorporated.
[28:59] So would this be funds in addition to their stuff, would that impact their fundraising and and would they those to be to combine together?
[29:10] How would that work?
[29:13] Would you repeat the first part of that question again please?
[29:15] Sure. Pathfinder's the group of kids from all over the state were in our park and they are have plans for the park to put in like a sports field and that type of thing.
[29:27] their thoughts are that they're going to be raising the funds for doing all of that
[29:33] putting it all together, making it, you know, it was fabulous. These kids are just amazing.
[29:39] But they were looking at trying to do the whole thing without any extra funding.
[29:43] So, if this grant was to come in, is that just extra like, we were talking about maybe a sprinkler
[29:50] system for in there and how to do that. And that was just another big expense that their eyes kind of
[29:54] And so if that could be incorporated with what they're doing to be able to do so.
[30:02] The 30,000 is for planning purposes only. We can't do any work with that. But given the once for a trail system in town, the RB park, development around the trailhead, there are a lot of things that we can do fundraising for that they can assist with and do fundraising for. There are a lot of needs that can be handled with different fundraising opportunities.
[30:28] so that they will certainly be able to fundraise for things that they want to.
[30:33] Absolutely. Cool. Thank you. And then, you know, when the Center for Disaster Philanthropy
[30:39] Donation that just came in, also be able to go into that pot for the improvements on the
[30:44] part. Yes.
[30:48] Vanessa,
[30:53] I'm mute.
[30:56] So I missed the whole, I think I missed the whole meeting pretty much.
[31:00] So my only question I guess is where was the RV park being talked about putting it fit
[31:11] what was that?
[31:13] Where's the RV park going to be located?
[31:16] No idea. That's why they call it timely. Yes.
[31:21] Okay, you know, we don't okay. I just wanted to bring up like the the I was
[31:31] Whoops, we lost you. Okay, so it will be talked about before done though like we're not going to have
[31:36] the library and then a trailer park right next to it, right? Absolutely not. No.
[31:45] Vanessa, Vanessa, did you miss the part that Dan was there was a question and Dan answered it
[31:51] being that it will only be a two week maximum stay without expressed permission to stay. It won't
[32:00] be someplace that it's not going to be like a trailer park where people will pull their their homes
[32:04] and stay there for a very long period of time.
[32:06] They're not going to be living there.
[32:07] Did you miss that part?
[32:10] No, I heard that part.
[32:12] My question is, we are going to separate
[32:14] like the community center library, the children's park.
[32:20] We're not going to stick an RV park on that same property
[32:24] where we don't know these people.
[32:27] I'm, you know, they come in.
[32:28] They can't for two weeks or a week or even two days.
[32:32] We need to keep mold and safe, as far as our kids play
[32:35] outside. And I just, I don't want the park to this RV park to be stuck on the same piece of property
[32:43] where kids right now are free to play at the park without parents worry. When I do library
[32:51] events or whoever, if there was a different librarian, but I just don't, we need to make sure
[32:58] that we're distinguishing that that piece of property where I'm sorry, but you can't, you don't
[33:05] who's going to rent an RV spot. So it cannot, I mean, I just want to make sure that the town has
[33:12] a voice before it's stuck somewhere that parents and other town members can say no, I absolutely
[33:20] do not want it near the children's park. I mean, there just has to be, I just want to make sure
[33:27] that as a town we have a voice in where it's located so that we still feel comfortable and safe
[33:34] our community like we do right now. And you will, that, you know, this is called a planning grant
[33:42] and, you know, there is the possibility that it may not even fit into the plans of the rest of the
[33:49] town. But when you, when you plan for something you try and look down the road for all possibly
[33:59] and that is including the safety of our kids and those you utilize in your park.
[34:05] So you're 100% right, but just remember it's a planning grant, it's not an implementation grant.
[34:16] Thank you.
[34:17] Yeah, I was just like I said, I didn't hear too much at the beginning.
[34:19] So I just kind of wanted to make sure that we still talked about communication and stuff like that.
[34:25] Absolutely.
[34:26] Thank you so much.
[34:28] That's very good point too.
[34:29] Good point.
[34:31] Yeah, that's a great point.
[34:32] And Vanessa reminds me that in one of the iterations of the state parks department planning
[34:41] for the trailhead, there was going to be some RV camping spaces.
[34:47] So that's constantly in flux.
[34:50] What they're going to be doing for our trailhead.
[34:53] So with this planning grant, the people doing this planning, they'll be working with state parks to see about, you know, who who takes on what and how we get this accomplished.
[35:09] I mean, there's absolutely no doubt that everybody will be working together with a reminder that we are a town that is a state park.
[35:19] And we will give our input as absolute maximum we can and cooperate and work with the parks as they will with us.
[35:30] I had a conversation with state parks today and they are looking forward to this.
[35:39] Whether they have an overnight camping spot there or not is yet to be determined.
[35:49] can I ask one more question? Sure. Since the trail goes through town, are they bound by
[35:57] our zoning like so if we made the trail mixed use recreational residential or if we said no
[36:03] residential is the state park bound by our zoning because I mean zoning's what we do so we don't
[36:08] have our v-parts next to libraries. No idea. Okay. No idea. All right. Thank you. That would be part of the
[36:18] planning process to play that out.
[36:27] Okay folks,
[36:30] we still have 17 participants. Are there anyone else
[36:34] with comments or questions? Please ask them. This is the time to let us know what your thoughts are.
[36:45] We've done a very good job tonight, guys.
[36:49] We've got 27 minutes.
[36:53] So if I don't hear any more in a couple minutes,
[36:57] we will consider our meeting finished.
[37:05] So I'm
[37:14] okay, folks.
[37:23] While we're waiting for people to find their voice,
[37:26] I just want to mention that today is global awareness.
[37:30] Global accessibility awareness day, and we don't have captions and the chat is disabled. And for me, with my comprehension situation, being able to read, as I listen, house me, increase my comprehension, which will reduce the number of questions I need to ask, and you've all experienced it, that when I'm emotional, I can't divide attention. So controlling my volume is very difficult. If I could type in the chat, that would reduce that.
[38:00] problem. So, just want to mention today's global accessibility awareness day and we are not fully
[38:05] accessible in this Zoom meeting that we're doing because we have no captions and a chat is disabled.
[38:12] Colleen, we are working to enable that technology that is is very good, it's good for the
[38:22] community and those who need it, but it all, you know, we're working on this.
[38:29] This is new for everybody and we all look forward to having in-person meetings.
[38:39] Thank you.
[38:42] Okay folks,
[38:45] you know, we want you all to ask a question if you feel like you need to
[38:51] ask. Now is the time to ask them. So, if no other questions are needed or we can help someone.
[39:07] We have five minutes remaining. It is 736 and at that time we will complete this meeting.
[39:17] I think that Jodi's information was really, really complete. And so maybe that's why we're not getting very many questions.
[39:28] And so Jodi, thank you so much for clearing up so many questions that I had before there was even a chance to ask. So I appreciate it.
[39:36] very welcome. I've never, I'm not used to people in my house even listening to me for
[39:42] two seconds so that all of you listen to that, it's very gratifying. You did a good job
[39:48] in joining. It's a little more difficult than our, our ops meetings, there's no doubt.
[39:56] But, you know, we were very grateful for the rain today and we're grateful for the weather
[40:06] that we do have. We've got a lot of good things coming in the next few weeks and I would
[40:14] like to have rain except for those events.
[40:22] On Saturday, we will have Ruck for the Fallen
[40:27] beginning at 9 o'clock in the morning. The funds raised for those that group will go to
[40:36] old star families. Very well deserved. For the veterans, we will have a meeting at 1130 at the
[40:46] Ralto. And there I will read to those in attendance, citation that our local Pine City resident
[40:59] Travis Nixon, received after being killed in action,
[41:05] October 29th, 2005, in Afghanistan, he received the Silver Star.
[41:15] That means amount to us.
[41:19] And we want to thank Jody for sponsoring that meal for our veterans.
[41:26] You're very welcome.
[41:29] And then they will have a complete closing ceremony at the park in St. John at 1 o'clock.
[41:37] Next week on the 25th, I believe, is Count Town Council.
[41:43] Well, the 27th we will have an activity in the park with representatives, Joe Smith and Mary
[41:54] Guy, Senator Mark Schessler and possibly, and I say, possibly, because in the morning
[42:04] at Washington DC, Representative Kathy Morris Rogers will be testifying in favor of the
[42:12] in septic system and then flying out here. On June 2nd we will have the John Wayne Trail
[42:24] Riders arrive and order these star will provide the meal and the entertainment will be
[42:40] management, singing, green beret, and Carter Junction, friends that have been here before.
[42:51] The next morning, the John Wayne Trailwriters will have breakfast by the community church,
[43:02] and they will depart for their final destination.
[43:05] And
[43:09] with a little luck, we're still working hard at it.
[43:15] During that time frame team Rubicon may be able to begin removing the dead and dying trees
[43:26] and reduce the fire hazard and mark beetle hazard that we have in our town.
[43:35] So, one last time for folks to comment, we've got about a minute left.
[43:45] Hello, can you hear me?
[43:48] Yes.
[43:49] Oh, hi, this is Diana.
[43:51] I want to tell y'all you're doing a fabulous job.
[43:58] We appreciate a thanks now, and we are working hard for the citizens.
[44:05] There's no other thing that we do day in and day out, we look for housing, we look at water systems, we look at fire prevention.
[44:17] There's nothing that we don't work for.
[44:22] All right, folks.
[44:24] Thank you.
[44:26] It's 741.
