[0:05] Good evening to work, please stand for a minute.
[0:18] The record
[0:32] is the public meeting of the
[1:14] I can make sure that we're out and she's back and then I'm going to serve the board of the board of the chancellor's work.
[1:22] The meeting is open to the public.
[1:24] We'll take a roll call.
[1:27] Trust me, Shane.
[1:29] Trust me, sir.
[1:30] Yeah.
[1:31] Trust me, doesn't it?
[1:32] Yeah.
[1:32] Trust me.
[1:33] Trust me.
[1:33] Yes.
[1:34] Trust me.
[1:34] Yes.
[1:34] Trust me.
[1:35] Yes.
[1:40] Trust me.
[2:45] So there are not questions, there are two statements.
[2:48] So, the first one for B-5, I want to thank Superintendent Nese because a new roof on this high school is not only an aesthetic
[2:59] improvement, right?
[3:00] It's vital to the health and safety of the educators and staff in the building and the students.
[3:07] So, that shows a pure commitment to everyone in this building that things are working to get better.
[3:13] So, we all appreciate that tremendously.
[3:16] And then for B-13, and this one's not a question either, this is another thank you.
[3:22] Thank you to the Board Trustees for utilizing the entirety of the 2% cap.
[3:28] Some of us in this room tonight remember and live through the years of five consecutive zeros.
[3:35] And we felt the pain and devastation of that because it resulted in extremely low morale in the district.
[3:42] And it caused a massive riff of over 200 educators.
[3:48] And so when you look at budgets, budgets always focus on priorities.
[3:54] And it's clear that the reflection in the budget is showing the priorities are continuing
[4:00] to make the district grow, to make it better and support everyone here, including the staff and the students.
[4:06] So we appreciate that very much.
[4:50] I just don't recognize a lot of the stylists, I've never seen stylists
[5:16] before, so I'm not
[5:17] of office, but whether it be in use currently, just as they would be eligible to use the
[5:23] rest of this year, and we'll start out in 2024 to the next year.
[5:30] I have a little bit to you, it's like a binding contract for next year for 2024 to the
[5:35] next year.
[5:36] I'm not voting to talk in there, it's for next year, yeah, on this slide, I will no longer
[5:43] If it's all illegal music, you should be taken out of it.
[5:47] Because I think when you have this type of thing,
[5:49] there's people working with this type of music.
[5:51] So it should be off day because I wouldn't feel confident on this type of music.
[5:58] I wouldn't know about this type of music.
[6:00] I wouldn't say any important way to start with it.
[6:03] I don't know.
[6:04] There will be people that will not consent from now.
[6:12] Which of these titles are new to this list?
[6:23] I've been in an environment where I'm going to say it's municipal government.
[6:28] I don't show up in all the study now.
[6:30] It's going to be used to hire somebody to do nothing about it.
[6:34] So how many of these titles are new with nobody in them?
[6:40] I
[6:43] can see a lot of questions coming in just for me now.
[6:48] I'll put it right here.
[6:54] It's the first time I see this thing.
[6:56] I've seen it.
[6:58] Is it a standing here?
[6:59] All this man?
[7:00] No, I haven't been here for a long time.
[7:02] He's like a bachelor.
[7:03] They give you one people a way to be a name.
[7:05] That's what we did in the name.
[7:06] Everybody's doing the same thing.
[7:08] Just a birthday.
[7:10] Are you going to send that?
[7:11] So, what we'll do is we'll move C10 and we'll make that a non consent time.
[7:26] So, we have all our action items.
[7:28] We'll move C10 to non consent on the motion from Trusting Bird and the second from Trusting
[8:23] Yes.
[8:24] Trusting Burke.
[8:25] Yes.
[8:26] Trusting Testament.
[8:27] I'm
[8:33] a nun.
[8:33] I'd rather take away the work of the Bible.
[8:35] Okay.
[8:37] Trusting Testary Rodriguez.
[8:39] Is absent.
[8:39] Trusting Magiot.
[8:41] Yes.
[8:41] Trusting Samuel.
[8:43] Yes.
[8:43] Trusting Spravegan.
[8:44] Yes.
[8:45] Christ President Brasad, who's on his house.
[8:48] And President Bezmer.
[8:49] Yes.
[8:53] We just have...
[8:55] We'll start with one of the students represented.
[8:59] This year's a night for sure.
[9:09] Good evening board members. I'm Prakshag, and I have very exciting updates from the student government.
[9:16] Last month, Stuga organized the Cupid's Ball where everyone had a blast and the sweetheart dance for our students and project independence.
[9:25] On March 7, Stuga also attended a luncheon appreciation for hosting this dance.
[9:30] We would like to thank Ms. Demedici and Ms. Lago
[9:35] for putting it together.
[9:37] This month, STUGA once again plans to ignite
[9:40] school spirit in students by hosting a students
[9:42] versus teachers basketball game.
[9:45] We will be holding the charity event this Friday,
[9:48] March 22nd, in the BHS main gym.
[9:51] And the game will include teachers and students
[9:53] who volunteer to play a basketball.
[9:56] Students are very excited to attend
[9:58] and we hope the student body will come to cheer for our teams.
[10:02] All funds will be donated to a student at Midtown to fight leukemia.
[10:07] Student government was also in touch with the organization for the citywide blood drive,
[10:12] which was held on March 3rd.
[10:14] All students of BHS were given a chance to come and help out and earn service hours if needed.
[10:21] Volunteers were given jobs such as running the raffle.
[10:24] The student government is currently in the process of applying and completing the requirements
[10:29] for the NJASC Standards of Excellence Award.
[10:33] As part of this application, the student government took a trip to East Brunswick High School
[10:38] last Friday to learn about their student's counsel and the events that they do.
[10:44] They are also competing for the award and will be coming to BHS tomorrow to learn about
[10:49] our government and the events that we host.
[10:52] We hope that we will be able to show them the amazing events that BHS has and eventually
[10:56] win this award.
[10:58] And from all of Stuga and the student body, I would like to wish everyone a wonderful
[11:02] spring break.
[11:03] Thank you.
[11:26] Good evening.
[11:27] I just wanted to find out, first of all, what is the last day of school now for this calendar,
[11:31] this school year?
[11:34] I know it should have been June 18th, but that was before snow days were built in.
[11:39] The 20th?
[11:40] They are going to school in the 19th.
[11:42] Even though it's June 18th?
[11:54] So the 21st. Fantastic. Okay. Thank you. That's very helpful for me. I just wanted to know,
[11:59] I got a lot of pushback from my boss this year. Her son's in Hoboken and she had a private school
[12:03] and she's like, why do you have these snow days? We have no snow days. What I'm just curious,
[12:09] what is what goes into deciding whether we take a snow day? I'd like to be able to go back to her and say,
[12:13] I talked to the board of ed and this is what happens.
[12:37] Fantastic. Thank you. And one more question,
[12:39] not related to calendars or snow. A little bit of clarification on how the gifted and talented
[12:44] program is supposed to work. I am grateful we have it, but I'll be honest. I'm a little disappointed
[12:48] about what my son's been getting this year and gifted and talented. I was expecting more.
[13:08] Okay,
[13:12] so they don't get pulled out for any special classes. Is that correct?
[13:16] Okay, I think I was expecting that. Thank you very much. Have a good evening, everyone.
[13:33] During the open workshop, Superintendent Nees mentioned some stuff where we did some work
[13:40] recently with NJCU.
[13:42] So I'm an alumni, right?
[13:43] And I was invited to be on a panel discussion there on last Monday in the 11th.
[13:48] So it was myself, Dina DeCanto, Cindy Wrangler, and Kristy Segru.
[13:53] And the whole purpose of the panel discussion at NJCU was to meet and talk about teacher
[13:59] attention and recruitment.
[14:01] So both Sean Spiller, our NJA president, was there, and our state senator, Angela McKnight,
[14:07] were also there.
[14:09] And so we did a roundtable discussion with the staff, the new president, President
[14:14] of Cebo, and some of the current student teachers, or they call them clinical practitioners
[14:18] now, some of them in the field about what's necessary to not only bring people into the field,
[14:25] but also keep them there.
[14:27] And there was a lot of great conversation in that room that day, some really awesome
[14:32] opportunities we worked with Dr. Rosen and Dr. McGriff to figure out how do we really
[14:38] maneuver and bring back and revive the profession and give it its prestige that it once had.
[14:45] So along with that, one of the really great things that took place was that President
[14:52] to see but announce that from this point forward,
[14:55] hopefully as long as he's President,
[14:57] he'll be there for a while,
[14:58] that he is granting all-
[15:00] All NJA members of 15% discount if they attend NJCU for their master's degree or their doctorate degree. And we're going to continue working on several other initiatives that I was a part of when I first started teaching here in the district that they're looking to bring back so that we can keep funneling NJCU graduates to the Bayon school district like many of us have in the past. You know, I think if we did a poll, probably 10, 15 years ago,
[15:29] So majority of the educators in this space were coming out of NJCU, and I'm looking
[15:34] forward to really bringing that back and helping the district pool in some more
[15:39] educators and bring more of that positive atmosphere back in.
[15:44] So I just wanted to share that.
[15:45] I thought that was important, especially since, you know, it was not only me, but
[15:48] several other teachers in the district that came along with the Stet day.
[15:52] So thank you.
[15:54] The L.
[16:09] Bush-aydon.
[16:11] Husky Berck.
[16:12] Husky Diaship good.
[16:13] Husky-dêscutor good is this,
[16:15] and this is Absent.
[16:16] Husky Maggio.
[16:17] Husky Sennilo.
[16:19] Husky-surfing.
[16:20] Husker-aid.
[16:21] Husker-aid without.
[16:22] Husker-aid from N.S.
[16:23] Husker-side.
[16:23] And this is 4-7.
[16:25] We better turn off the meeting.
