[0:05] Okay, good morning, or good, I guess, good evening, everybody. Thanks for joining us. It is 6.30, so we're going to go ahead and get started. This is the District 127 and School Links webinar to just share some information about this college and career platform that our district has pivoted to. And we've now onboarded all of our students are almost all of our students. So we wanted to introduce our families to this platform and how their students are using it and how you might use it.
[0:33] My name is Tracy Landry. I'm the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching Learning and Innovation.
[0:39] It carries a District 127, and with me from the District is Gina, one introduced yourself.
[0:44] I am Gina Skyler. I'm the Administrator for Careers and Community Partnerships.
[0:49] Thank you for joining us this evening.
[0:52] And with us we have Scott Walner from School Links, who will be our guide this evening to tell us all things school links.
[0:59] There is a questions button in the bottom right of your screen.
[1:03] If you have questions, you can type them there.
[1:06] Questions that aren't answered live, we'll try to put an FAQ together after the fact
[1:11] and post it with the video.
[1:13] At this time, I will kick it over to Scott to talk about school links.
[1:18] Thank you, Tracy.
[1:20] Hello, everyone.
[1:22] One of the weird things about this webinar format as we can't see out there.
[1:25] So just wanted to say hello. Thank you for coming in. And yeah, tonight I'm going to tell you all about school links and how Grace Lake is utilizing school links and most importantly, just share with you some of the great value and tools that your children, the students at this district have and so I'll give you just a little bit of context.
[1:49] I'm the customer success manager from school links.
[1:52] So I'm not just presenting to you tonight,
[1:53] but I actually work really closely with Gina and Tracy
[1:57] and others at the district.
[1:58] So I do sort of in a sense know your district
[2:01] and feel a connection to the students and your staff
[2:05] sort of in a second hand way.
[2:06] So I'm really excited and feel like it's privileged
[2:10] to talk to you all tonight.
[2:12] So yeah, I'm gonna jump right into a little slideshow
[2:15] to start and then I'll actually show you
[2:17] the school links platform too. Stick around until the end because in the last portion I will
[2:24] show you how to log in if you haven't already and then show you some of the things that you can
[2:30] take advantage of with your guardian account. So yeah, thank you again for your time. Don't forget
[2:36] about the questions button. My good friend and colleague and Desha is there and she'll try to get
[2:41] to as many questions as she can.
[3:01] Okay.
[3:02] So here's a little agenda of what I want to talk through.
[3:05] As much as this is to give you a little preview.
[3:08] It's also to help myself stay organized just creating this.
[3:12] So I'm going to focus a little bit on what Grace Lake is utilizing.
[3:18] This is some special things that I've discussed with Tracy and Gina ahead of time.
[3:23] Things that they wanted to specifically share with you all tonight.
[3:26] then I will jump in and become a student at Gray's Lake. I'm going to demo as
[3:33] a student and the platform that I show you will look exactly as your students see
[3:39] it. So I want to just show off and highlight some of the really awesome tools
[3:44] that your students can utilize even when they're not in school. Imagine that at
[3:49] home. They could go on school links. Even after they graduate and I'll talk
[3:53] about that too. And then finally, I will show you just what you can do as a guardian.
[3:59] Okay, so if you don't know what schoolings is at all, this is a college and career readiness
[4:06] platform. We say that this is our all-in-one student success platform. So as a company and as a software,
[4:15] we offer tons of tools for your district and students to utilize. I'm not going to spend time
[4:22] going through these today but we just like to show all of the different things we do and you'll
[4:27] see a good taste of that tonight. Instead of telling you all about these things I will just mention
[4:32] that 39 out of the top 50 schools in the four major north counties of Illinois utilize school
[4:41] links and over 80% of students north of I-80 use school links nowadays. So we're really excited and
[4:49] and proud of this, and we also want to let you know
[4:51] that you're right there along with a lot of other districts
[4:55] and guardians and students using schoolings too.
[4:59] Okay, so some of the main features
[5:01] that your district is utilizing,
[5:05] one is the course planner tool.
[5:08] So using this tool, your students can create graduation plans
[5:14] so this can mean making a plan for courses
[5:17] that fit a particular career pathway or area of interest for up to four years of planning.
[5:25] What we say is that this process and our tool and sort of the user interface that students use,
[5:32] it really does empower them to make informed choices.
[5:36] So, I'm showing you a little screenshot here of a summary page of a student's four-year graduation plan.
[5:43] They're taken through a guided process where they can select courses for every single subject
[5:48] for their entire time at high school.
[5:52] On this page, students also get feedback about if they're meeting graduation requirements,
[5:59] what credits they've earned, and again, are they aligned with the requirements for a career
[6:04] pathway.
[6:06] Another thing that this does is also support the Gray's Lake staff.
[6:10] So counselors are able to interact with this view of students' course plans and help support them to, again, make smart informed choices for the future.
[6:23] So, as I mentioned, again, I'm just giving you a little taste here of the process so that you can see how easy and powerful this is.
[6:31] I mean, just saying that my students can plan for all of their courses for high school and be aligned with what they want to accomplish after they graduate is pretty awesome.
[6:41] and to see it in this just like simple, straightforward format is really nice.
[6:47] So I'm just showing you a little bit of how students will step through and actually select courses for each grade level,
[6:53] even utilize preset sequences of courses that the district sets up for them.
[6:59] It's really awesome, again, as they create these plans, they're getting real-time feedback
[7:04] if they're meeting certain requirements in subject areas, for pathways or for graduation.
[7:09] Okay,
[7:13] and what else the last thing that I wanted to say about the course planner was that multiple people see the same view and it allows them to review and edit and adjust and tune a students plan for graduation altogether.
[7:28] other. So staff members see these course plans. Students obviously are a huge part in making selections
[7:34] for these course plans. They have a lot of, um, it's sort of empowered students to make the
[7:39] choices that they want to make. And guardians, you also will have a chance to review course plans as
[7:46] well. So, um, something to look forward to. A tool that, um, I could spend an entire hour talking
[7:55] about or many hours talking about is the work-based learning program. Another thing that your district
[8:02] has chosen to get for your students and for your district community. There's a lot of aspects that
[8:10] go into the work-based learning program and process, but many of these things often center around
[8:17] students getting opportunities for internship and employment and work-based learning experiences.
[8:24] So there's a whole suite of tools and processes that we can utilize with the work-based learning
[8:31] feature.
[8:32] And again, some of the most important things are how your students are finding opportunities
[8:38] and interests that they will seek out as they move forward.
[8:48] So some of the things that your district will likely be utilizing, again, we've talked
[8:52] about this specifically at your district.
[8:54] So this is not just a generic pitch about our tool in school links, but instead some of the things that your students are likely going to encounter.
[9:04] So being able to keep track of and organizing time sheets, student evaluations, even communications and forms between all of the interested parties, which can include guardians, the students, the supervisors and obviously the staff members that graze like as well.
[9:20] So, again, in just a brief session like this, I would love to go give you an entire
[9:26] tour of how the work-based learning program works and how Grace Lake might use
[9:31] that to support their student internships. But for tonight's meeting, I guess I
[9:36] just want to let you all know that this is there for you and your students. It's
[9:41] really there for your families. So the work-based learning program and focusing on
[9:45] student internships is something that is really important.
[9:53] Okay, something that is related to these work-based learning
[9:59] experiences is actually being able to track them.
[10:02] So one of the tools that we use in order to do this is the
[10:07] experienced tracker. So your district is setting up categories of
[10:13] experiences that students might have and your students are able to go
[10:16] in and log entries for themselves based on the experiences that they have. Now this might
[10:22] seem simple and trivial but I think back to my own days as a pretty successful high school
[10:29] student, one who was, you know, focused academically and trying to do all of the right things,
[10:34] I never kept track of any of the experiences that I had. Whether I had a part-time job in the summer
[10:40] or I was a leader at a youth group or for a sports club, I did a lot of those things but I never
[10:46] really kept track of them. And later on when I had to submit an application or try to get a job
[10:53] or try to get a scholarship, I had to do a lot of backtracking and finding out all of those
[10:59] details that I really should have been keeping track of. So now with school links,
[11:03] your students are going to be taught how to track and log these experiences throughout their entire
[11:08] high school career. And what I wanted to show you with this next slide is that by doing that
[11:14] that in their profile in school links, they can actually translate those experiences into
[11:20] a resume.
[11:21] So by doing just a simple task of logging, who was my supervisor, what organization did
[11:27] I work with, how long, and on what dates did I have this experience, this will get housed
[11:33] on the student's professional profile on school links, and they can use it to automatically
[11:38] generate a resume for themselves.
[11:40] So when I jump over to the student side, I'll show you a little bit more how that looks.
[11:44] I think it's really exciting when you get to just, again, see what your students go through.
[11:49] And so I'll show you how this tool works.
[11:52] And if you want to do it with your student at home, go ahead and start logging their experiences,
[11:57] keeping track of all the great things that they're doing, the awards that they get.
[12:01] They were the captain of the team or had a lead solo in a concert.
[12:05] they can log all of that stuff in their schoolings profile.
[12:09] So a really fun and powerful tool, I think every student at your district should know,
[12:15] and I think now they do know that they have this tool available to them.
[12:19] So you can support them to utilize it too as guardians.
[12:24] All right, I'm going to briefly go over the event scheduler.
[12:28] This is another awesome thing that your district uses to organize experiences for your students.
[12:34] So now on schoolings students will be able to see what events they have available to them like college rep visits, career fairs, workshops, anything that's your district and the team that I work with so closely
[12:49] decide to essentially advertise to students as an opportunity on school
[12:55] links. Students can easily see what those opportunities are, register for them,
[13:00] and importantly, get notifications that they have an event coming up. So if you
[13:07] don't feel like you need to remind your student of everything that they have on
[13:11] their schedule, school links help them out with some reminders that that college
[13:15] a drop visit is coming up,
[13:17] or they have that workshop tomorrow
[13:19] during their lunch period.
[13:25] Okay, I think I'll pass over this a little bit.
[13:28] Yep, and just highlight again some of the things.
[13:31] I just sometimes I like to give a little bit of a view
[13:33] and the inside of what we see on school links,
[13:36] sort of from the staff side is like,
[13:38] how are we working with the school links tool?
[13:40] So, and it's just really nice to see like,
[13:43] hey, people like Gina and Tracy are going behind the scenes
[13:46] and setting up things like college rep visits
[13:49] it's and parent nights like tonight and things like that.
[13:52] And all of this has the underlying goal
[13:55] of supporting your children and their opportunities.
[13:57] So I just think it's super neat.
[13:59] And we all just wanted to share that with you a little bit.
[14:04] Okay, finally, the college application manager.
[14:07] If you haven't already experienced this,
[14:10] if your student is not a 12th grader yet,
[14:13] Grace Lake, along with many other districts,
[14:16] as I mentioned are utilizing school links to fulfill and send off college
[14:22] application documents. So students are making requests for letters of
[14:27] recommendation. Counselors and teachers are writing letters of recommendation
[14:32] and your students are sending off their transcripts and their schedules and all
[14:37] of these documents to the schools that they dream about going to. So it's really
[14:42] they need. Again, this is where I will sort of bring my reality and role into the picture.
[14:49] I'm working with people like Gina and Tracy five days a week during this season to help
[14:56] all of these processes go well and everyone involved is.
[15:00] Engaged and focused, and it's just really nice to see, again, so many people involved supporting your students. So, yeah, in addition to just really accomplishing and fulfilling the college application process, this tool is also helping your students by just keeping track of everything that they need to submit to those institutions, helping them monitor the progress and keep track of all of those requirements.
[15:28] So submitting test scores and submitting forms for financial aid and actually going and submitting those applications.
[15:36] Students are using school links to help them through that.
[15:42] Again, I'll show this off a little bit when we see the tools that your students can utilize.
[15:46] But I can't help just showing how cool and neat this process and this tool is.
[15:52] I'll show you how this college search feature works.
[15:55] but essentially students have this great platform
[15:59] where they can learn about any school
[16:02] that you can think of in this country.
[16:04] They can use different strategies
[16:07] to help them find the right school
[16:09] and they can really just learn a lot about the school
[16:12] because we've organized an entire index of information
[16:15] about each school.
[16:17] So students can learn about the graduation
[16:20] and acceptance rates, the admission stats,
[16:22] the calls and financial aid and so many other things, including virtual reality tours and videos
[16:27] from actual students. So again, I don't want to spoil any of what I'm going to show you, but
[16:32] I just want to gain your interest a little bit here. So with the college application process,
[16:40] as I said, they can actually sort of analyze their chances of getting into certain schools,
[16:46] make decisions about which schools they want to apply to or prioritize, all through schooling.
[16:52] So as I mentioned, students will request teachers of letters of recommendation and keep track of their applications.
[17:01] Again, I just want to show you this so you know this is going on.
[17:03] If you never see your students schoolings page, just know that they're working on this stuff.
[17:08] They're working on their applications on schoolings.
[17:11] They're setting them up and keeping track of everything.
[17:13] So it's just I think important to share with you all.
[17:17] Cool. All right.
[17:19] Alright, I wanted to finish that first section in 20 minutes or less.
[17:23] I'm going to just pause here for a moment to let you throw some questions into the
[17:28] questions section and Dacia, I think, has been in there answering some of them.
[17:33] I'm going to jump into just to take a look and I'll also ask, is everything sounding and
[17:39] looking alright?
[17:40] Can you see the slides okay and can you hear me okay?
[17:43] I just always want to double check that.
[17:46] everything is clear.
[17:51] A deep question for whoever asks, how does this relate to the common app?
[17:56] We can't go too deep into that, but just know that we actually integrate directly with common app.
[18:02] So students are still going to be using common app to actually fill out their applications,
[18:06] but everything that they do in common app is coming back into schoolings
[18:10] so that they can manage all of their applications,
[18:13] whether it's common app or not common app.
[18:16] So great question.
[18:18] I'm sure in day show was like,
[18:20] oh my gosh, how do I answer this one?
[18:21] This is a deep one.
[18:25] A copy of the presentation.
[18:27] Yes, okay.
[18:33] Cool.
[18:39] think this is where I want to get out of my presentation here.
[18:45] And I want to just jump in right here.
[18:51] Okay.
[18:53] Any other questions in the chat so far?
[18:55] or feel free to leave a comment in there.
[18:57] If you think this is cool, say, hey,
[18:59] wow, I'm excited about this.
[19:01] Again, we can't see each other in the meeting,
[19:03] so I don't know if you're excited right now.
[19:05] I don't know if you're smiling when I'm telling you all of this
[19:07] or you're like, oh, my gosh.
[19:09] I already knew all of this.
[19:17] If not, I'm going to roll in here as a schooling student.
[19:50] Okay,
[19:55] great.
[19:56] So what I've done now is become a schooling student.
[20:00] I am Mildred Holmes tonight, and so now everything that you see in this next middle section of our presentation is very similar in many ways to what your student might see when they log in at home.
[20:20] So just keep in mind that this is a demo student.
[20:24] this is a demo district, so it's not real data, it's not student data. Our team uses this a lot
[20:30] to practice and to train people and to do demonstrations, so there are some things that look a little
[20:36] bit a little bit weird, but just try to sort of understand why they look that way and maybe without
[20:41] a trained eye you won't even notice. So I probably shouldn't have said anything at all. Okay, all right,
[20:46] so the first thing that I point out is the student profile. So your student, your child has a profile,
[20:54] it's right up here and what I like to say is this is a professional media profile or it should be
[20:59] treated as such. This is not your social media profile. This is something that you want to put
[21:06] forward your best professional self. So on this profile page students can customize it to make
[21:14] themself, make their profile fit them but again the idea is their professional self. And we also
[21:23] So allow students to set goals here so students can, whenever they want, go in and submit
[21:30] what their goals are for a career or for a college or even just what we call a career
[21:36] cluster which is a sort of larger category of careers.
[21:40] You can see this one is STEM, science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
[21:45] And so this is great for the student to do as they progress.
[21:48] it's sort of a reflective process and at the same time this also provides insights to you as a
[21:56] guardian and to the district and the staff members who support your students. So staff members can
[22:02] see what kind of goals students have set. They can see what colleges they've favorited and when they
[22:08] set up events those types of activities will actually help the student find those events and register
[22:16] for them, and get support from the people who want to know them a little bit better.
[22:21] So students can also list things that they're proud of, their strength.
[22:25] This is where they sort of get a little bit personal, and we think that's really awesome.
[22:30] Setting goals and putting your stake in the ground is something that blossoming young people
[22:36] should do.
[22:38] Down here in this section, I'm going to connect this a little bit with the experience tracker
[22:43] that I mentioned.
[22:44] So, and I think somebody had a question in the chat about validating, or how do we maintain
[22:51] fidelity and logging experiences?
[22:53] I wonder if some students might, you know, make up some volunteer hours.
[22:58] Well, yes, we have thought of that, and we agree that there should be some easy and simple
[23:04] ways to just, yeah, validate those and make sure people are being honest.
[23:08] So there are processes set up with how experienced types are actually approved or even verified by third parties like supervisors.
[23:19] So through schoolings we can actually communicate and get verification from supervisors or approval from staffs.
[23:27] Yeah, so this is a place where students can log their experiences, internships, volunteering, working, whatever it might be, keep track for yourself.
[23:35] As I mentioned earlier, keep track for yourself so you don't have to go back and find it all.
[23:40] But at the same time, anything that I log here in this section or the portfolio section
[23:47] down here, we also have a portfolio section.
[23:50] The experiences in the portfolio are actually used if the student wants to generate a resume.
[23:56] So if you see my little cursor, I should have done the sort of like highlighting laser beam
[24:00] around my cursor.
[24:01] But up here there's a little button and it says export resume.
[24:04] So, any of those experiences, again, or portfolio items, which I won't focus on today,
[24:10] those are going to be automatically formatted in a nice, simple, straightforward resume.
[24:15] They put an information, which will go in the header of the resume, and then they can download
[24:19] it, or save it to Google Drive and edit it, change the formatting, however they want, add
[24:24] things that maybe don't make it on to school links in some way.
[24:27] So, just something I love to highlight about the profile is, hey, your students, if they
[24:32] You need to resume really quickly.
[24:34] Go into school links.
[24:35] It's probably easier than typing it up yourself.
[24:37] Log some experiences and hit that export resume button.
[24:41] Okay.
[24:43] I will also show you that students have this activities center.
[24:49] So in the activities center, the student can take
[24:52] a bunch of different assessments.
[24:55] These are really short, dare I say fun,
[24:59] at least engaging little assessments.
[25:03] Often they are agreeing or disagreeing
[25:07] with certain questions that get them to essentially
[25:10] just be thoughtful and reflective about themselves.
[25:13] And then by taking these assessments,
[25:15] they're gonna get some feedback
[25:17] and depending on the assessment that they take,
[25:19] they're gonna get feedback,
[25:20] which maybe matches them with a career cluster
[25:22] or gives them a few examples of career clusters
[25:25] that they might match with or specific careers
[25:28] that they met with match with, sorry, or other things here that you can see. I won't go
[25:35] through all the details just based off of time, but these are things that students can
[25:38] take at any time they want. They can take them as many times as they want, and they can
[25:43] look at their past results, too. So they really can take this, you know, every semester,
[25:48] every year, and actually look at maybe some things that have changed over time and how they
[25:54] fall. So I think this is again super neat. I actually have a schoolings account myself and I take
[25:58] assessments every semester, you know, for myself. And, you know, in four years I'll see how I change.
[26:03] So yeah, it's a really cool thing and your students can do this whenever they want. But your district
[26:09] is also thoughtfully sort of planning out some of these assessments for your students as well.
[26:15] So this is again where I bring in some personal insight into what Grace Lake is actually doing
[26:19] specifically. And so, yeah, we essentially set up a schoolings curriculum and push some
[26:25] of these surveys or assessments out to your students and help them remember to take them.
[26:31] We're just, you know, motivate them to take them. Very similarly, we have the learning hub,
[26:36] which has not things that the students are going to get feedback about themselves on,
[26:41] but actually where they're going to go and learn. You can see here, I'm just going to zoom out
[26:45] just a little bit. You can see here we have lots of topics. These are appropriate topics for
[26:51] college and career readiness for post-secondary planning for success planning. Like I said,
[26:56] all in one success platform. So, students can take module-based learning units where they watch
[27:04] short videos, they visit external links, they take surveys, they take a little quiz, and they can
[27:11] move through these learning units at their own pace. Similar to the
[27:15] assessments, these are always open to your students when they log into
[27:18] schoolings. They can take them multiple times and some of them are also sort of
[27:22] assigned to them by your district. Finally, I always show off a game of life. This
[27:30] is something I think would actually be fun to sit down and do with my parent
[27:36] if I was a high school student. Or if I was a parent, this is something that I
[27:39] I think would actually be fun to do with my student.
[27:41] I am a parent now, I should have mentioned that in my intro.
[27:46] I will now, I'm a former teacher myself,
[27:48] a former high school physics and chemistry teacher
[27:51] and soccer coach, and I also have a couple little kids
[27:54] now, the oldest is in kindergarten.
[27:56] So now as I imagine my high school children,
[28:00] I hope they have school links at their school,
[28:03] and I would love to play the game of life.
[28:04] So, in the game of life, students can put in information about what their goals are, what their career goal is, maybe what degree they want to earn, and if they want to attend a particular college, maybe like the greatest university that I know of, the University of Oregon.
[28:27] And they can continue to put in information about their plans and project forward what their future outlook might be like.
[28:39] So based on what degree I've selected, what university I want to, if I have any money saved or plan to earn while I'm in school,
[28:48] I can get information about my salary, my taxes, my loans, healthcare, we're taking sort
[28:57] of cost of living expenses into account here for the students based on the information
[29:02] that they provide, and they get of, I'd say, a friendly but honest projection about those
[29:08] things, and as students go in and sort of add things about their lifestyle, they might
[29:16] start to see some of these things change. And so it really is a cool tool which gives
[29:21] awesome direct feedback to the student and helps them think about their future.
[29:27] Down here you can see based on my choices of if I want to get a university degree or
[29:33] what type of degree that is, I can actually plan for investing in my own education and maybe how much
[29:41] we can handle out-of-pocket versus in loans and things like that.
[29:45] So it's a really cool tool, and I can save this scenario for myself,
[29:50] you know, my plan to such and such, or whatever it might be,
[29:54] and what's really nice is then I can create multiple scenarios as a student,
[29:58] so I can see.
[30:00] What's my outlook if I go try to be a doctor? What's my outlook if I skip school and go into the trades? What's my outlook if I go become a teacher or a counselor? So it's a really, really cool, powerful tool. And like I said, I just think you also know that your student has it. So there you go. Okay. Great. I'm just going to check the questions real quick, trying to remind myself to do that. Please share out SIT and ACT score. Okay.
[30:29] I'm going to leave those for Endasia.
[30:31] Thank you, Endasia, for continuing to answer.
[30:34] I'm going to stick with my talk track here.
[30:38] Thank you for your questions, even the specific ones
[30:40] in the questions.
[30:42] But I hope you can recognize why I, presenting,
[30:45] cannot address those directly.
[30:46] And that's why we have our other partner here.
[30:49] So thank you, Endasia, and thank you for your questions.
[30:53] OK.
[30:55] So as I mentioned, we support Grace Lake to work through their college application process.
[31:03] I showed off this tool just previously and I'll show it again.
[31:08] Students have this tool to, first of all, find schools that fit criteria that they're interested in.
[31:15] So I can use the search bar to search for schools that I know I'm interested in.
[31:19] or I can use any of these filters here to actually make choices about maybe what size school
[31:26] I want to go to, or even what US region, like I can't live in Illinois anymore.
[31:35] I'm sorry, I have to go to school on the west coast.
[31:38] Maybe there are students out there like that.
[31:40] They can include that here.
[31:42] Students can even search for schools that fit certain criteria like their ACT and SAT score.
[31:48] or I saw that question in the chat.
[31:50] So yes, students are able to take into account
[31:54] their test scores in GPA when they use this tool
[31:57] and when they're making choices.
[32:00] So students can even type in things,
[32:02] like I'm interested in math and apply this as a filter
[32:07] and now I'm seeing a ton of schools that fit my criteria.
[32:11] I can favorite them and
[32:16] I'm just favoriting them
[32:17] have hazardly, although Shasta College is interesting. I have been to Shasta, California.
[32:27] So making some choices for favorites. So even if I'm a ninth grader using the college search tool,
[32:33] maybe at that point in my career, I'm just exploring what colleges interest me and favorite them.
[32:39] And by the time I'm a senior, I've done a lot of sort of work and gained some information and insight
[32:45] for myself to jump right into that college application experience so you know I just
[32:50] favored it a few schools here I'll only click into one and show you that for every single
[32:56] school that we have we have this school profile card so for Santa Clara University and all
[33:04] others that I might have favored it or explored I have a wealth of information here graduation
[33:10] and acceptance rate, US News and World Ranking.
[33:14] Also, one that I often point out, student to faculty ratio
[33:18] and students receiving percentage of students
[33:21] receiving financial aid.
[33:23] And also information about, as I get to that section,
[33:27] cost and financial aid.
[33:29] So, again, as a guardian, I, a parent or guardian,
[33:33] I imagine, hey, I would still like to take a look at that, too!
[33:36] Hey, can you log on to school leagues?
[33:38] Let me let me look at the college search feature really quickly.
[33:42] I'll tell you that with your guardian account,
[33:43] you also have the college search feature.
[33:45] So you don't have to have your student log in.
[33:47] You can actually look at the code.
[33:50] All right.
[33:50] Similarly, we have the career center.
[33:53] So students have a number of different views that they can take to explore careers.
[34:01] I'm going to just focus on one.
[34:04] It organizes careers and career clusters.
[34:06] students can learn about these clusters, or they can learn about the careers that fit
[34:11] that category. Very much like the college search feature, I can use different filters
[34:17] to sort of gain information and insight about how these careers compare. And so maybe
[34:25] I know that I'm interested in this general category of architecture and construction, but I need
[34:30] some differentiator to decide between engineering management and to architecture or interior
[34:36] design. So as a student, I can learn about all of these. Again, I can I can favor it them if
[34:43] they interest me and just like the college search feature, I can actually learn a ton about them.
[34:49] So for each career that we have on school links, we have again an entire index of information here.
[34:57] I'm not going to dive deeply into this, but there are things where students can compare. Wow,
[35:02] It looks like I picked a career with a high median salary and a pretty good job growth
[35:08] percentage in this career cluster compared to some of these others.
[35:12] And so again, I'm just sort of showing you some of the great information that we have
[35:16] on here, including, you know, what education is required?
[35:21] What certifications are required, if any?
[35:23] Do I have to get a degree in order to find an opportunity in this career?
[35:28] Or does this career just require some licensure?
[35:31] So that's information that students can find on here as well.
[35:35] And this is an opportunity for me to also highlight that
[35:40] school links is very supportive of all post-secondary plans.
[35:47] So college and career options are great and supported through school links.
[35:54] So again, I can find out what education is required.
[35:57] And if it does require a degree, I'm actually prompted to add one of those degrees or programs
[36:04] to my college search. So now I'm seeing
[36:10] schools that fit my criteria and
[36:14] also allow me to go and obtain that particular degree.
[36:20] Okay, I'm just tracking my time here trying to stay on my schedule. I do get excited about showing these things off.
[36:27] And I think that is probably the last thing that I want to say I will maybe mention this
[36:34] finances toolbox here, students can find information about scholarships on this portion
[36:42] of the platform.
[36:43] Your district can also utilize this to post scholarship opportunities for your students.
[36:50] So in my mind, if I'm trying to provide information to you all out there, guardians, hey, there's
[36:55] place for your student to find scholarships. Learn about what that scholarship requires. Again,
[37:02] save it, track it, mark down that they've applied to it, actually go and find the application
[37:08] page without having to search the internet. This is a wonderful, wonderful tool that your students
[37:15] can utilize. So I thought I would show that off as well. And then I think again, I'm going to pause
[37:22] here at the end of this middle section and just let some questions accumulate in the chat.
[37:34] Interesting.
[37:37] Great question. I might.
[37:41] I can't speak to that directly. The historical student
[37:45] application data, I can say that schooling helps in tracking and analyzing all of that data, so
[37:51] it is an excellent tool to be able to do that seeing the results of, first of all, what your students
[37:58] have submitted application to but then also the actual results. And that happens at this point,
[38:04] now year over year for your district. That information can also be utilized to help your students
[38:10] make choices. So I didn't get a chance to show off like a scattergram today. That's something that
[38:16] takes the historical application results from your district or nationwide and then presents that on
[38:22] a graph to a student and sort of shows them where do they stack up against that historical data.
[38:29] So yeah, great, great question.
[38:31] That's a really powerful piece of of school links.
[38:50] All right, I think then I will just go on to the last portion.
[38:53] I will just show you more briefly.
[38:56] The majority of this was to show you what your district is using
[39:00] and what your students do and can use.
[39:04] And now I'm going to show you what your guardian account looks like.
[39:07] So give me just a moment here.
[39:09] here.
[39:14] Okay, and I wanted to show the login screen. Okay.
[39:18] So the website at the top or
[39:21] the URL at the top app.schoolings.com is the place that you can go to log into your
[39:28] guardian account if you haven't already. You'll see a page that looks very similar to this.
[39:33] And essentially what you can do because your district has set of guardian accounts for you
[39:37] is put in your, oh boy, that's mine.
[39:43] You can put in your e-created
[39:46] with your student's contact information
[39:50] and then use the forgot password button
[39:53] if you haven't logged in yet
[39:54] to get an email notification
[39:56] and then reset your password and log in.
[40:01] If you end up having any issues logging in with school links,
[40:06] you can always reach out to a representative
[40:09] of that at your district.
[40:12] Okay, once I log in as a guardian,
[40:14] your page initially will not look like this one,
[40:17] and may not ever look like this one.
[40:19] This guardian is actually also a member,
[40:21] so that's something that is possible for you as a guardian.
[40:25] But for the most part, I'm gonna focus on this button
[40:28] right here, which is my students.
[40:31] So right next to your dashboard button,
[40:34] you have this my students.
[40:36] So now I'm a guardian on school links,
[40:38] and I'm looking at my two students right here.
[40:42] You should see your students there.
[40:45] If you don't see one of your students there,
[40:48] in this case, I think you should see your students there.
[40:51] If you don't, again, reach out to your district.
[40:53] This add or remove is related to a different way
[40:56] that we link guardian accounts.
[40:58] I don't worry about that.
[40:59] But let me just click on one of my students.
[41:02] I guess this is my son, John.
[41:04] So now I'm essentially looking at John's case file is what we call it on school
[41:11] links. So I'm going to see anything that my student is assigned to do. So some of
[41:18] those things like assessments that students might get assigned by your
[41:22] district or learning units or reminders to go and favorite five college profiles
[41:28] or to go set up their common app account or anything like that, you can actually also check up on what is assigned to your student.
[41:38] And then you have this drop down menu here. This is sort of the most important place that you can go as a guardian.
[41:45] Keep in mind that my demo guardian may have a slightly different set of available selections here.
[41:52] Okay, so yours might not look exactly like mine, but in general you're going to see a lot
[41:58] of the same information.
[42:00] And what you see here is essentially categories of the things that your students have done
[42:06] or have housed or logged on schoolings.
[42:10] So if you want to see the assessments that your student has taken, you can go and check out
[42:15] what's the results of their find your path assessment
[42:20] or would you rather assessment or top skills
[42:23] which actually matches them with careers.
[42:26] So you might actually also gain some insight
[42:28] about your student.
[42:30] I think maybe sometimes, again,
[42:31] imagining my own high school students,
[42:33] they might keep for me what they want to do.
[42:35] Maybe they won't feel like telling me.
[42:37] Maybe they don't want me to know,
[42:39] because they think I'll ruin it for them
[42:40] or something like that.
[42:41] Well, here on School Lakes, you can gain some insights into your students.
[42:46] And so I just think it's really neat that we, again, we offer students to be reflective in this way.
[42:52] You know, I mentioned the game of life earlier.
[42:54] My student hasn't created any. You can look at the game of life.
[42:57] I also mentioned the goals that your students set.
[43:00] So if you want to see that they've set an excellent goal of going to Augustana College,
[43:06] you can go and learn that about them if you didn't know already and then
[43:12] another place where you're going to be able to interact and actually as I
[43:16] mentioned before see and sort of review not take any action but review your
[43:22] students course plans.
[43:27] Okay just looking at anything else I want to mention here
[43:31] oh the experience tracking if you want to see what experiences your students have
[43:35] been logging or maybe even what colleges they've favorited or lists that they've made.
[43:42] This is a great place to go and I do come here to also mention that, hey, this is one place
[43:48] where on schoolings you can really directly interact with your student, you can actually
[43:53] create a list of colleges for them.
[43:56] So if this is your alma mater and all of the schools that you hope they go to or that you
[44:03] think are a great fit for them. You can actually leave them a little list right here. So the counselor
[44:09] can do that for them too. And then obviously the student is empowered to do that as well.
[44:15] Okay.
[44:17] Great. Again, I'm not going to point out and walk through every single one of these sections. And
[44:22] again, some of them might not be applicable to what you're seeing directly. But I will just also
[44:27] mention that what I said earlier, so as a guardian, you can utilize the school search tool. You know,
[44:34] So this is going to help you actually to create those lists, right?
[44:38] So you can actually really take the perspective of a prospective student here and put in your search criteria,
[44:46] your filter criteria for what you think your student might pursue.
[44:52] And this can actually help you create some lists for your students.
[44:55] The same thing goes here with the Career Center.
[45:00] We're able to see that. All right. I think I'm just going to go back to the dashboard and make sure there's not anything I'm messing here. Yeah, I guess the other thing that I should point out is that you also have this little chat feature down here. So this little widget down here in the in the bottom corner. You'll be able to interact with, first of all, our help service system. So there is some ways that we can maybe answer your question with an automated hello particle.
[45:29] But you always have an option to go and speak with a schooling representative directly inside of our work hours, obviously.
[45:39] But if you have a question there, you can do that. And we do also have the school links help center.
[45:46] So if you have a question about how something works on school links, you have a set of articles that are available to you as a guardian.
[45:54] And you can do that too. Maybe you're helping your student do something that they're trying to do as well.
[45:58] Okay, I think I'm going to stop my sharing now.
