[0:04]
The
[0:47]
last board meeting, six of those were founded. The particulars of each of those were discussed with the board in close session.
[0:56]
The period 1, SSTS report was posted for the board. That's the student safety guidance system. Any questions from the board on that?
[1:07]
We call, we do this twice a year, once for the first half, and once for the second half.
[1:14]
That's all I have to say.
[1:15]
So we have any committee reports,
[1:27]
board members have questions or comments on tonight's agenda or any other topic?
[1:40]
May I have a motion to open the floor to the public?
[1:51]
Any opposed?
[1:53]
Does anyone from the public have questions or comments on tonight's agenda or any other topic?
[1:58]
I
[2:30]
would like to address these more in regards to my lawsuit and litigation.
[2:38]
I wanted to give the board members the regulations for the Board of Education and then kind of
[2:45]
go over it with you.
[2:48]
I
[3:25]
would like to point out to all of the board members according to what is written here in terms
[3:35]
of the HIV investigation procedures for the four is that whenever there's a situation
[3:44]
that happens in the school and it's reported to the principal, which in my case it was
[3:54]
was reported immediately to the principal by my daughter,
[3:59]
AGT, and as well as by myself.
[4:04]
There was never an investigation that started.
[4:07]
It was nothing that the proper protocol was not followed
[4:12]
out in terms of the procedure that's here on this regulation.
[4:17]
I would like to bring to your attention
[4:19]
that once it was reported to the principal it was never given to the coordinator for my understanding of David, Mr. Cuzzle, who is the coordinator for HIV in the high school and as well as in the district.
[4:39]
He was not made aware of the HIV and what happened that day in the classroom when Mrs. Keith made a derogatory.
[4:49]
for the statement. And then my daughter responded and then she responded back and then there
[4:56]
were additional words. After it was told to the principal, it was then shared with the guidance
[5:05]
counselor. It was shared with the superintendent. It was also shared with Mike Rabinel, which is a board
[5:11]
remember? Immediately. There was never any written document that was written up and
[5:19]
referenced to any type of investigation. So I would like to point out that
[5:28]
if this
[5:29]
is the regulations for the board then why wasn't it done the same way when it's
[5:35]
in reference to my child in any other situations regarding HIV?
[5:43]
I would like to
[5:44]
also brings to your attention that even with sharing with Michael Rubino, who is a
[5:51]
Ford member, the only thing that Michael Rubino did was from my understanding was
[5:57]
sharing it with the superintendent. I reached out to the superintendent and he
[6:05]
basically told me that there was an investigation that was done, which was
[6:08]
never done.
[6:15]
Mr. McKeever even indicated that there was no investigation
[6:18]
So why do we have these regulations listed on the school's website when they're not being followed out?
[6:32]
Moving forward, after it was initiated, the teacher, Mrs. Keep, still went up to my door in the hallway and intimidated her further.
[6:47]
and then continue to retaliate and to mess with her grades junior year, which is a very,
[6:57]
very important year for students when they are applying to colleges and to continue to mess
[7:06]
with her grades by not entering them, entering them incorrectly, not putting in test scores,
[7:12]
was putting in extra work as a negative instead of a positive and continue to do this from
[7:20]
October until February until it was time for us that we couldn't we were getting not
[7:27]
any kind of help from the board we weren't getting any help from the superintendent we were
[7:34]
not getting any help from the principal or the teacher and it was just continuing on and
[7:46]
And all of you still sit here and haven't done anything in reference to the situation.
[7:53]
But you have regulations that are supposed to be carried out in this district which
[7:59]
have not been carried out.
[8:02]
I don't know if all of you have read the regulations or if you even know the regulations, but they
[8:08]
were not followed in this situation.
[8:10]
And
[8:14]
even with Mike Rabito knowing what actually happened right away,
[8:20]
as a board member, he should have talked to Mr. Kuzo about it, since he is the lead investigator for HIV.
[8:33]
He goes to the superintendent, the superintendent does not.
[8:38]
not sure whether he shared it all with the board members or not he should have since he's a board member and should have requested for an investigation to be done which was not done.
[8:51]
Now I've been fighting this loss for a year and a half and I will continue to fight it but I just wanted to bring to your attention that what you have written is not what you are doing in this district.
[9:04]
because if that was the case, we wouldn't be here today.
[9:10]
And there is no reason from the time that my attorney said
[9:15]
out a letter to the board, which was in March.
[9:21]
The lawsuit was not filed until June.
[9:25]
And between March and June, something could have been done
[9:29]
to do an investigation before June for a lawsuit
[9:33]
was ever filed and nothing was done so I hope that the board realizes that they
[9:43]
did not follow their own policy and their own procedures and
[9:52]
that I hope in
[9:53]
the future that you will follow your procedures and your policies that you
[9:58]
have listed on your website thank you. As
[10:06]
I said before the board cannot comment on
[10:12]
I do ask that you do not make assumptions on what board members cannot do in terms of
[10:19]
taking action for our restrictions.
[10:24]
Well, I had two board members that requested a letter to be sent over in regards to the
[10:31]
litigating and that letter was never responded to by the board.
[10:43]
No, not to me, but I may respond it to my attorney, it was never responded to and that
[10:52]
was the request by the board.
[11:00]
I just wanted to bring that to your attention.
[11:09]
All right.
[11:09]
Does anyone else from the public have questions or comments, may I have a motion to close the
[11:16]
floor to the public?

[13:01]
May I have a motion to approve items 1pol and 2pol?
[13:05]
Come on, then.
[13:20]
Is there any old business
[13:40]
that's even going to go into the community school, it was
[13:57]
very
[14:11]
We're going to have a math night on Wednesday night here at the high school and media center
[14:18]
for our K-4 parents.
[14:20]
So we'd like to invite the community and please get bored out.
[14:23]
We are going to do a selling, sending a message out to parents.
[14:31]
But there were items that weren't discussed in the private.
[14:34]
There's a number of professionals in the business.
[14:37]
We're going back into it.
[14:40]
But I don't know many of those.
[14:42]
as if they didn't have to do with
[14:47]
what we are going back in two seconds.
[14:57]
I guess we'll hear from them, but um...
[15:00]
Ms. Cole-Bath is not here tonight because she's down in DC attending the National School Board Association at Mcisee Institute. And Mrs. Tuck was just down there attending the National School Board Association Headquarters symposium. So we look forward to hearing from both of them at the next meeting.
[15:23]
I just had one piece. Our Assistant Business Administrator, Bella, is sitting in the audience, so would like to welcome her.
[15:43]
I'm going to have
[15:51]
a motion to open the floor for public comment, so I'm
[16:01]
all in favor.
[16:04]
Any opposed or abstentions?
[16:16]
I really just wanted to come two reasons to support Ms. Gibson and her seems to be forever
[16:24]
going situation with her daughter in case, excuse me, I also wanted to come out this
[16:31]
evening because this is February, Black History Month, I'm sure we all know this.
[16:37]
And unfortunately because of the, I don't know how to say this, but unfortunate situations
[16:44]
with the IS School, the 5-6-School PTO, the executive board, things were put on a halt.
[16:51]
And so now we have finally, we, Dr. Danielle, finally called the meeting, and now three new
[16:57]
members have been appointed to the board.
[17:01]
However, with that said, at this meeting, we basically discussed chocolate flowers and
[17:09]
this boat ride that's ever being talked about.
[17:12]
Just really shallow things.
[17:15]
And as an African-American person, I was wondering when we were going to maybe touch on
[17:20]
some things that to me were important, and that would be the African history month.
[17:28]
It is the shortest month, but it is the month that we are given, but it's something that we did not get to touch on.
[17:35]
But because I'm here, what I would like to do, it should give you guys a look at something that I would like to have printed up to give to you to have,
[17:46]
and to also maybe possibly give to the teachers, to give to the students as part of a packet that I would like to put together for the schools,
[17:57]
I know things have to go through Dr. Daniela or maybe through you but because of the matter
[18:03]
of time and the time that was taken away by choice not because it had to be but that was
[18:09]
a choice that that leadership made.
[18:11]
I don't think it was absolutely necessary that all this time had to be taken but it is
[18:17]
then something that I believe is very important especially things that you guys think is important
[18:22]
and as well considering, I believe you said,
[18:24]
Mr. Tuck is down at A or have been down at a equity forum
[18:29]
or a workshop, but this is titled
[18:31]
Culturally Responsive Teaching.
[18:34]
And he said, seven principles of such.
[18:37]
And then I also have here another,
[18:41]
we got a fit in the car.
[18:43]
But it's just a cute little document
[18:45]
of the levels of culture and just acknowledging
[18:49]
different things of different people's culture, whether it be food, whether it be dancing, clothing, and just to get the children ideas of different cultures and what culture means to everybody.
[19:01]
And so the idea is inclusive, and of course diversity. And so yes, in the spirit of Black History Month, to include others, but yes, a focal point on Black History.
[19:17]
And that would have come with some of the things that Ms. Tug
[19:21]
had said for me, which was some bios on some African-American
[19:25]
heroes from our past, as well as focusing on some
[19:28]
other present African-American heroes, unfortunately,
[19:32]
a loss of one-hour-fourish thoughts of Kobe Bryant.
[19:36]
But I just have some ideas of ways to celebrate that are beyond
[19:41]
the normal ways.
[19:42]
And I just, unfortunately, I don't feel like those ideas are
[19:46]
and being heard and being heard fairly
[19:47]
and being taken seriously into consideration.
[19:51]
So I'm standing before this board
[19:52]
to get permission to do something
[19:54]
and to not be a token or to not be just a puppet sitting
[19:59]
on the side because actually that's what I feel
[20:01]
like I am at this point.
[20:03]
Any idea that if without the a not taken seriously
[20:06]
I know they were two board members
[20:07]
who were at the meeting the other night.
[20:10]
And I'm not sure what the purpose of presence
[20:14]
the purpose of your friends was for but it's really not a whole lot happening or at least
[20:20]
the leadership that I was appointed for doesn't seem to be effective and I'm not interested
[20:25]
in just being something just to be or have a title just to have.
[20:29]
My purpose is to be effective and my purpose is to bridge a gap and so if you would like to
[20:37]
take a look at the document so that I would hopefully get permission to maybe pass it on
[20:43]
and distributed to the teachers and they hopefully look through and maybe take some notes on
[20:51]
this being culturally sensitive. I would like for you to take a look at the documents that I have,
[20:57]
or at least this one document that I have. Do you mind if I pass it to you?
[21:02]
Sure, you can give it to us. I cannot believe I don't have my document with you, but I'm going to show you that one as well.
[21:09]
You can also do that.
[21:11]
This is true.
[21:12]
You want it?
[21:13]
I'm so old fashioned.
[21:15]
Yes.
[21:15]
It's the whole email thing.
[21:16]
I'm totally nervous.
[21:18]
Yes.
[21:18]
The whole scanning and email thing.
[21:20]
I'm getting there.
[21:21]
I think I'm there.
[21:22]
But I would definitely scan it and email it to you as well as a very cute document.
[21:27]
And I think it better everyone.
[21:31]
It's not just about one body and one culture, but everyone.
[21:34]
And I've got to say, I'm just after 20 years being here, and after the reason for
[21:39]
wonderful children who are absolutely well-adjusted and who speak very highly
[21:45]
effortly Mr. Rode met my daughter who's right now at Colorado State University
[21:50]
and she spoke nothing but great things about being in Fort Leal coming from
[21:55]
Fort Leal and being in Colorado where there's almost no one who looks like her.
[22:01]
Wonderful things. She opened my eyes to something new. I want other people to see
[22:06]
And I want to feel good about being here and all the other parents that I meet, I want them to feel good about being here.
[22:13]
And I want them to say, I don't like it when parents tell me I'm leaving and I have to go.
[22:19]
This is not for me because they don't feel welcomed. And part of it is because of what you may read on this page.
[22:26]
So I'm just asking you to open your ears, open your eyes, open your hearts because this thing is real.
[22:34]
and I would children what matters for me and so that's why I'm standing here
[22:39]
born this evening and I thank you for opening up the floor and allowing me to
[22:44]
say these few words to you so please take a look at that document and thank you
[22:50]
everybody have a good night thank you thank you
[22:55]
to close the floor to the public all in
[23:02]
favor any opposed all right the board
[23:08]
will be going back into executive session to discuss
[23:26]
I'm going to post.
[23:28]
Tell me, tell me.
[23:29]
Thank you.
[23:30]
Thank you.
[23:31]
We'll be back in a bit.
[23:33]
Oh, I'm really excited.
[23:35]
The speaker and the place we are.
[23:38]
Wait a minute.
[23:39]
All in favor?
[23:40]
Hi.
[23:42]
Who are you post?
[23:42]
That's a good thing.
