[3:23] » Just one item, Mr. Chair. Um I've been advised by Jen Ward, youth center

[3:27] director. She's been informed by Scott Martin, senior. He's the executive

[3:31] director and of strategic initiatives of the Hakamark area YMCA. The youth center

[3:37] is now the recipient of the Burnon Family Branch Red Triangle Award. This

[3:42] award recognizes organizations and individuals for their partnership and

[3:46] support of programs and activities of the YMCA meeting the changing needs of

[3:51] our community. It is for the work Milford and Franklin did together with

[3:55] remote learning during CO for children in Milford to more present-day

[3:59] collaborations on tournaments and child protection. The YMCA in Franklin is

[4:04] acknowledging the Milford Youth Center as an organization they are proud to

[4:08] partner with and wanted this recognition to shine on our youth center. For your

[4:12] information, the award will be presented at the YMCA's annual meeting to be held

[4:16] on Tuesday, May 12th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Lake Pearl. Uh, all award

[4:21] winners received their award during the event. All three of you gentlemen will

[4:25] be invited. And I want to congratulate Jen and her entire staff uh for

[4:29] receiving this prestigious award. And that's all I have tonight, Mr. Chairman.

[4:45] on Aging concerning an appointment

[4:52] and it's a email from Dino Debat um asking us to appoint Michelle Kramer

[5:02] to the council on aging. Um she's highly qualified. She has a master's degree in

[5:07] social work. She's also the director of social services at Countryside for over

[5:12] 30 years and she's replacing Paul Gallagha. Uh Paul served on the council.

[5:18] I I serve on the council. Paul served on the council for many years as and he

[5:23] made stay at the senior center. He just having some personal difficulties

[5:29] uh healthwise. So, if we could uh have a motion to

[5:33] appoint Michelle Kmer and to uh thank Paul for his services. Sure. A motion,

[5:40] Mr. Chair, uh to appoint uh Michelle Kramer as recommended by the chair of

[5:45] the uh council of aging as well as the other committee members uh and to

[5:50] appoint u Michelle Kramer to the council of aging and also thank you for the

[6:17] please. >> Uh my name is Cairo Barlo.

[6:21] » Welcome. >> I am a student who lives in Milford and

[6:25] this is a part of my civics project on local government. I'm here to share a

[6:29] proposal on reforms to the MWRTA's Route 14. While the route connects some

[6:35] central, commercial, and residential areas of our town, well, it lacks

[6:39] coverage to many essential parts in our town. The route also leaves many gaps

[6:43] and stops within walking distance, resulting in a lack of transit use by

[6:47] students, elderly, and those without cars. I put together a short proposal,

[6:52] which I'll hand out now.

[7:08] This proposal suggests new targeted stops in highdensity residential and

[7:13] commercial areas while simultaneously closing gaps between stops and

[7:17] connecting more residents to other parts of town. These stops should increase

[7:21] accessibility to Milford's public transit system drastically, giving a

[7:26] reliable source of transit throughout town to those in need. These are

[7:29] designed to only minimally tweak the current route and avoid fair increases.

[7:34] I request this proposal be forwarded to the proper channels and considered by

[7:37] the town of Milford and MWRTA staff for review. Are there any questions?

[7:46] I have forwarded the proposal to the Metro West Regional Transit Authority.

[7:50] Have you met with them yet? They did offer to meet. Uh did they set something

[7:53] up or not? >> Uh we are in the midst of setting.

[7:56] » Okay. So, they're more than willing to meet. Uh go through the proposal. I read

[8:00] the proposal. It's obviously very well prepared, very well researched. You

[8:04] should be commended for that. Absolutely.

[8:06] » So, um but it is in their hands. >> Hopefully, you can get a one-on-one

[8:10] meeting officer. >> Yeah. Just a couple of things, please.

[8:13] Well, thank you. Uh anyway, thank you so much for this. Again, it's a pretty darn

[8:17] uh good project that you're doing for uh civics, I'll tell you. Uh and and I

[8:21] congratulate you on that. Like Rick said, again, the proposal focuses on

[8:25] enhancing the mobility of residents who, you know, don't have a vehicle, who um

[8:30] handicapped some way, shape, or form. and and and again that gives an

[8:34] opportunity to make um this whole route 14 more functionable and accessible yes

[8:43] » to some of the people who won't be able to have it and um again I really

[8:47] appreciate this this is very thoughtful of you and um uh pretty good for a

[8:53] military high senior right thank you >> thank you so much

[8:59] » thank you Mr. Chairman Tyro, I just want you to know that I'm actually the board

[9:03] representative on the MW RTA. So, I'll work closely with Mr.

[9:09] Balani and the MWRTA to follow through, make sure that they

[9:14] do in fact have this and, you know, we'll report back on, you know, where

[9:19] they are and where we are with working on this. But greatly appreciate you

[9:22] putting this and bringing this to our attention and I I promise you that I

[9:27] will work on it. >> Thank you so much.

[9:40] um 5 minute walk. It take me a lot more than 5 minutes nowadays. But um for the

[9:52] also if we better serve the public that's why we brought the uh service

[9:58] here to Milford to begin with uh wasn't mandated on the on this town. So um then

[10:06] can we send a copy of that Rick to plan still Brian has a copy also.

[10:16] and also being a liazison to the MWR. Brian's a liaison and he's also the town

[10:23] committee that works with MWRTA. So, um I'm sure that he'll be president.
