[29:55] d typically guess mid last week typically s . They were due guess mid last week typically s akes 10 days. They were due tod . They didn akes 10 days. They were due tod 't have some y. They didn't have some supplie lab y. They didn't have some supplie . Didn't s in the lab.
[30:02] Didn't get them pd lled for the day we're hoping te . lled for the day we're hoping te Hopefully not. So we think we will So we think So we think we will get two thi it out So we think we will get two thi anyway.
[30:12] Past couple of weeks, you Past Past couple of weeks, you know,t been continuing Past couple of weeks, you know,t we've just been continuing flus. where we can , the where we can calls where we can, the calls have ded . I think we've only where we can, the calls have ded reased. I think we've only had o calls this week, is that reased.
[30:18] I think we've only had o wo calls this week, is that rigd y? wo calls this week, is that rigd Okay.
[30:25] They're decreasing . I can't They're decreasing They're decreasing. I can't tas Feel that we're Feel that making Headway BEQ , we've talked BEQ We've talked to them this week We've talked to them this week.k we We've talked to them this week.
[30:38] k may Possibly turn the corner on Possibly Possibly turn the corner on thig . Possibly turn the corner on thig Just keep it up adding Possibly turn the corner on thig thing. Just keep it up adding e Activate d carbon and Activate You know, we need cooler weather You know, we need You know, we need cooler weathe need it to rain You know, we need cooler weathe
[30:49] and we need it to rain to flus' s Creek and we need it to rain to flus' I don 't know if you've been I don I don't know if you've been on lately, but I don't know if you've been on he greenway lately, but if you Greenway he greenway lately, but if you at the bridge
[30:56] re on the Greenway at the bridg 2 re on the Greenway at the bridg right there at Wendy's. re on the Greenway at the bridg on 52 right there at Wendy's, t bridge on 52 right there at Wendy's, t f you look over that bridge ints Creek, to which f you look over that bridge ints
[31:01] Lovells Creek, to which we donw water out Lovells Creek, to which we donw at that point at was well at that point was well below our intake at that point was well below our I mean. I mean, you can see the algae I mean, you can see I mean, you can see the algae i.
[31:08] I've never seen I mean, you can see the algae i. Lowell's Creek. I've never seed huge Lowell's Creek. I've never seed algal bloom it this bad huge algal bloom re Greenway R it this bad huge algal bloom re ght there at the Greenway Ridge in the ght there at the Greenway Ridge stone So we need
[31:15] cooler So we need weather , rainr So we need Can you beat me Anything you want to add in? Anything you want to Yeah. We think it's We improved and I it's We We think it's improved and I hat heard We think it's improved and I hat . My family en't heard.
[31:33] My family is the fi something about en't heard. My family is the fi it. st to say something about it. I heard st to say something about it. I in about a week.
[31:41] Maybe still pock ets of it out Maybe still pock Maybe still pockets of it out t still may pick Maybe still pockets of it out t ere and you still may pick up ae on it here and ere and you still may pick up ae there.
[31:51] But we think we' But we think we're getting it a be glad So you want to know
[31:54] I was asked I was a question , and I didn't a question a question, and I didn't have ad I don't have many a question, and I didn't have ad answer, and I don't have many,
[32:04] It was hot in a lot of It was hot places It was hot in a lot of places. d ours It was hot in a lot of places. d Ours seems to be worse Ours seems than I Ours seems to be worse than I dk to people in other Ours seems to be worse than I dk
[32:12] n't talk to people in other plas . n't talk to people in other plas when algae grows when , is it just grows when The luck of the draw The luck of the or I mean, it was I mean, it was pretty much smal algae all the I mean, it was pretty much smal
[32:25] er amounts of algae all the tim , Andy? er amounts of algae all the tim That
[32:57] Pretty much everything Pretty much 's at And a whole lot more meaning And a whole lot And a whole lot more at that And a whole lot more.
[33:05] Normally there's Normally all gas And all of that
[33:11] But when you But straight down to But straight down Like he used to say Like the excuse me. the the excuse me, Mayor, could we k him to go to the the excuse me, Mayor, could we k mic, because sk him to go to the mic, becaus at home might sk him to go to the mic, becaus
[33:21] people at home might want to hr And why is And that? And why is that? Explain a litte about And why is that? Explain a litte stress e bit more about stress. I know is when e bit more about stress. I know I'm stressed . s when e bit more about stress.
[33:28] I know what it is when I'm stressed. Ne about water being what it is when I'm stressed. Ne t sure about water being stress. Right t sure about water being stress. . The alga t sure about water being stress. d. Right. The algae is just bei stressed because d. Right.
[33:34] The algae is just bei g stressed because, I mean, tec the alg g stressed because, I mean, tec ae is alive nically the algae is alive just are, and it's nically the algae is alive just like we are, and it's trying to So when it's in So a drought So when it's in a drought condi
[33:40] harder for the So when it's in a drought condi ion, it's harder for the algae , so it ion, it's harder for the algae causes o survive, so it causes it to b be stressed o survive, so it causes it to b and off sically be stressed and off-gas sically be stressed and off gas So
[33:49] like Mitch So So like Mitch was saying a mome ago, So like Mitch was saying a mome the geosamin So like Mitch was saying a mome is extremely apparently So like Mitch was saying a mome people apparently this is someg I didn't know people apparently this is someg before I hing I didn't know before I rea
[33:58] even more about hing I didn't know before I rea it. Joshimin is one of Joshimin the chemical makeups the chemical that people the chemical makeups that peopl than almost the chemical makeups that peopl can smell more than almost anyg . They I can smell more than almost anyg hing.
[34:07] They I was actually readig just a fact about hing. They I was actually readig it that ng just a fact about it that sa How people say that shark How people say How people say that sharks smeld and water How people say that sharks smeld . The amount How people say that sharks smeld blood and water.
[34:15] The amount of and water that blood and water. The amount of sharks is nothing hat blood and water. The amount of compared to l is nothing compared to how pe can smell l is nothing compared to how pe the earthy smell l is nothing compared to how pe ple can smell the earthy smell s
[34:21] amin produces ple can smell the earthy smell s . The oneduces ple can smell the earthy smell s hat geosamin produces. The one per hat geosamin produces. The one it's about 5 parts hat geosamin produces.
[34:28] The one art perr it's about 5 parts pern That you can smell just That you can That you can smell just out of ity That you can smell just out of . We have uriosity. We have a 25 million reservoir uriosity. We have a 25 million . That is 1.9ervoir uriosity. We have a 25 million tr at is allon reservoir. That is 1.9 trf water allon reservoir. That is 1.9 trf .
[34:37] So that means So about 10 t means So drops of t means So So that means about 10 drops ofn in So that means about 10 drops ofn a 25 million gallon So that means about 10 drops ofn geosamin in a 25 million gallon , you'd be able to geosamin in a 25 million gallon
[34:45] reservoir, you'd be able to sme So if you were standing So So if you were standing beside t , you'd be able So if you were standing beside t f it, you'd be able to just bary pick up an od f it, you'd be able to just bary or from it
[34:50] ly pick up an odor from it. Now did have more than ly pick up an odor from it. Now that at we did have more than that at t 270 parts we did have more than that at t , but bout 270 parts, but it doesn't very much bout 270 parts, but it doesn't in the
[34:56] ake very much in the water for to actually be enough ake very much in the water for t to actually be enough that yod . t to actually be enough that yod The could actually smell it. The g could actually smell it.
[35:04] The gs osamin, though, is completely hs to people, it 's just an od to people, it or to people, it's just an odor. B algae to people, it's just an odor.
[35:09] B gases it into the t the algae gases it into the w , then as it comes through t the algae gases it into the w ter, then as it comes through t process, it ter, then as it comes through t e treatment process, it doesn'ts get taken out e treatment process, it doesn'ts always get taken out in the tre process, and that always get taken out in the tre tment process, and that's wheree add the tment process, and that's wheree activated carbon we add the activated carbon to
[35:16] any of the od we add the activated carbon to ors in it dsorb any of the odors in it. T is actually dsorb any of the odors in it.
[35:22] T en the carbon is actually takent the end of the en the carbon is actually takent filter out at the end of the filter th filters at the end of out at the end of the filter th rough our filters at the end of.
[35:28] So, as it's absorbed So, as , it's So, as it's absorbed, it's caugs , and then just So, as it's absorbed, it's caugs t by the filters, and then justs the water goes through after th . the water goes through after th That's a great explanation That's a great . So lanation That's a great That's a great explanation. So I don't understand That's a great explanation.
[35:40] So he only thing I don't understan is I think he only thing I don't understan he only thing I don't understane explained it he only thing I don't understane The algae is The in water . lgae is The Yes. Sor The algae is in water. Yes. So w does a drought The algae is in water. Yes. So w stress it?s a drought The algae is in water. Yes.
[35:48] So w I think just because I with I think just because with the ls water level that I think just because with the ls there is, it ss water level that there is, i 's harder for the algae to surve . 's harder for the algae to surve So that's what 's harder for the algae to surve stresses ve.
[35:55] So that's what stresses it s it's kind ve. So that's what stresses it s s, I guess it's kind of in a su type mode s, I guess it's kind of in a su . Okay . Soe mode s, I guess it's kind of in a su it ay vival type mode. Okay.
[36:00] So it ant understand, I don vival type mode. Okay. So it ant I don't understand, I don't unt it myself I don't understand, I don't unt erstand enough about it myself y why erstand enough about it myself y it off gases o know exactly why it off gasese When it's stressed When When it's stressed, but apparen
[36:06] does When it's stressed, but apparen . That was ly it does. That was what was kd of explained to me ly it does. That was what was kd by nd of explained to me by Eric Hn from the DE nd of explained to me by Eric Hn Q.
[36:11] He m the DE nd of explained to me by Eric Hn dson from the DEQ. He knows a l more about it than dson from the DEQ.
[36:16] He knows a l I do, and t more about it than I do, and e with him t more about it than I do, and e at length had spoke with him at length as , and drought had spoke with him at length as couple times, and drought condis , and of course couple times, and drought condis Hotter weather Hotter tends to make Hotter weather tends to make ale grow Hotter weather tends to make ale , and then during
[36:24] ae grow, and then during the ho , as it's growing ae grow, and then during the ho ter weather, as it's growing, i- gas, but ter weather, as it's growing, i- then the 'll off-gas, but then the strese it's the drought 'll off-gas, but then the strese where it's the drought conditis
[36:29] , and I where it's the drought conditis actually did look ns, and I actually did look up we ns, and I actually did look up came today ns, and I actually did look up , last efore we came today, last year,e were down efore we came today, last year,e about 13 In our rain for the In our
[36:40] entire year In our rain for the entire year2 5, In our rain for the entire year2 and through the of 2025, and through the years s year, we're down of 2025, and through the years s o far this year, we're down abo6 %.
[36:47] o far this year, we're down abo6 So basically , I mean So basically , except So basically, I mean, except fo storms that we've So basically, I mean, except fo had, we some storms that we've had, wen ve basically been in a drought n for almost ve basically been in a drought n a year and ondition for almost a year and now ondition for almost a year and Alright
[36:56] All right, great . All right, great Alright, great. Stephanie Alright, great. StephanieQ did y other municip Alright, great. StephanieQ did y ay other municipalities and wat systems in ay other municipalities and wat the state r systems in the state are havi some of these r systems in the state are havi problems
[37:03] g some of these problems, not t scale we are g some of these problems, not t . g some of these problems, not th e scale we are, but they did sa But we're going to look into But we're going to But we're going to look into wa in the future But we're going to look into wa
[37:12] , maybe this e future But we're going to look into wa s in the future. Maybe this mayn going thing the s in the future. Maybe this mayn be an ongoing thing the next fes . I don't know be an ongoing thing the next fes Maybe fighting some of Maybe this. We Maybe fighting some of this.
[37:19] We of these tools Maybe fighting some of this. We don't keep some of these tools on don't keep some of these tools site. We're going to be looking We're going to into A ways to fight this is A ways to fight maybe A ways to fight this is maybe a We've never had We've never this scale We've never
[37:32] We've never had this scale of t e city of Mount Airy that I kno Yeah , in the Yeah time that I've Yeah, in the time that I've bee for Yeah, in the time that I've bee almost 19 years Yeah, in the time that I've bee , weost 19 here for almost 19 years, we'vd
[37:39] some here for almost 19 years, we'vd slight algal had some slight algal blooms be and stuff had some slight algal blooms be , but nothing fore and stuff, but nothing. Th one wasn't like fore and stuff, but nothing.
[37:46] Th a full-blown s one wasn't like a full-blown you could see s one wasn't like a full-blown , but loom that you could see, but ju the amount of loom that you could see, but ju geos min thatunt of loom that you could see, but ju off-gassed from the alg off-gassed off-gassed from the algae. We'vr seen anything quite off-gassed from the algae.
[37:52] We'vr never seen anything quite liket . So I really think never seen anything quite liket it. So I really think it was mo the stress it. So I really think it was mo than just the heat tress it. So I really think it was mo e the stress than just the heate .
[37:57] e the stress than just the heate e the stress than just the heatr But since, like, where it was g . But since, like, where it was g But since, like, where it was g , like we like But since, like, where it was g o strong, like we like, say, afr We upped our algae dose We upped to
[38:04] We upped our algae dose to the r , which helps We upped our algae dose to the r suppress eservoir, which helps suppress y kind of eservoir, which helps suppress y algal growth ny kind of algal growth, and tho turned up our ny kind of algal growth, and tho carbon feed n also turned up our carbon fee
[38:11] than n also turned up our carbon fee the last time we did n also turned up our carbon fee more than the last time we didk , Brian more than the last time we didk had researched back look, Brian had researched back Probably
[38:19] Back about 30 some Back years ago Back about 30 some years ago, t when they fed Back about 30 some years ago, t carbon mes when they fed carbon, they as much mes when they fed carbon, they as we're feeding id feed as much as we're feedinw .

[38:33] Usually we feed about Usually we , we're Usually we feed about we're on a 13% Usually we feed about we're on a rate of the feeder Usually we feed about we're on a bout a 13% rate of the feeder. e up to about bout a 13% rate of the feeder. e 35 to 40 to about bout a 13% rate of the feeder.
[38:37] e e're up to about 35 to 40% of t feeder's capacity e're up to about 35 to 40% of t , just to e feeder's capacity, just to mae feeding enough e feeder's capacity, just to mae e sure we're feeding enough in e care of all e sure we're feeding enough in e the odor.
