[20:30] meetings. Always great to meet with him.

[20:32] Um we discussed certain fiscal system

[20:35] issues between the schools and the

[20:37] county. I believe the superintendent is

[20:39] loud and clear on how we need to improve

[20:41] some of the workflow. Uh we discussed

[20:43] the status of ARPA projects that the

[20:45] commissioners have been awarded

[20:46] previously to the schools. It appears as

[20:48] though the major project uh which is the

[20:50] Kemp Hall HVAC project has been

[20:53] completed. The schools will be returning

[20:55] a balance of a little over $7,000 which

[20:57] was left over.

[20:59] » Um we discussed the upcoming SUP and

[21:02] some of the potential impacts that um

[21:05] the um amount of money that could be uh

[21:08] allocated to the Aggie might be

[21:10] impacted. You'll hear more from me on

[21:12] September 2nd about that. Jeremy is fine

[21:14] with our plan. Um, and he discussed some

[21:17] legislation that he and a group of other

[21:19] superintendents were looking to um, get

[21:21] off the ground and eventually talked to

[21:23] the trustees about. Uh, has nothing to

[21:26] do with us, but was very interesting

[21:28] and, um, he was, uh, gracious enough to

[21:31] explain it to us. So, overall good

[21:32] meeting. Um, so speaking of the uh

[21:35] September 2nd meeting, that would be

[21:38] your opportunity to um consider and vote

[21:40] on the proposed September um advisory

[21:44] board meeting. Um per Phil Iontoska's

[21:47] email on August 7th to department heads

[21:49] requests are due back no later than

[21:52] August 26th, which is a week from today.

[21:55] Um it's a relatively quick turnaround to

[21:57] take the content of the request and get

[21:59] it ready. Uh but it is our goal to have

[22:01] that prepped and ready for your

[22:02] consideration on the second. Um in

[22:06] addition, that proposal uh will include

[22:09] a FY27 capital plant. So that'll be

[22:12] packed in for your consideration uh two

[22:15] weeks from today.

[22:17] Uh some of the commissioners have been

[22:19] tracking one of our larger capital

[22:20] projects this year and that is the

[22:22] repaving of the Denim District 4 parking

[22:24] lot. The commission as may recall we

[22:26] funded that uh project last year fiscal

[22:29] year. Um we put forward a study to

[22:33] examine the engineering associated with

[22:34] the needs of that project and we put it

[22:37] out to bid in the spring. We got a

[22:39] relatively uh high u bid one single bid

[22:42] back which was extraordinarily high

[22:45] indicative of a bad bid cycle. We were

[22:47] caught at a time when most of the

[22:49] vendors doing this work are flat out and

[22:52] planned out. So, we waited and we rebid

[22:54] and the recent uh results showed four

[22:57] biders that came in, which is good. The

[22:59] low bid, however, is slightly higher

[23:01] than the funding we have available. So,

[23:03] we'll be looking to augment that um at

[23:05] the upcoming advisory board meeting in

[23:07] order to um get the contract awarded and

[23:10] get that work going sometime this this

[23:12] fall, late late summer, early fall.

[23:14] We'll get it going over there. Um just a

[23:17] quick update on the hiring process. Um

[23:20] the committee and doing interviews for

[23:23] the rover have completed their work.

[23:25] We're going to be making a

[23:26] recommendation on hire to the

[23:27] commissioners as early as next week.

[23:29] Similarly, the work involved with the

[23:31] human resources director involve

[23:34] interviews with six individuals. Um that

[23:37] process is complete and we'll also be

[23:38] making a recommendation to the

[23:40] commissioners next week on that hire. Um

[23:43] so we're moving quickly on that. Um, we

[23:46] are likely to have the W, excuse me, the

[23:49] Wallist recreational facility

[23:51] superintendent uh, posting ready by

[23:56] getting that up. Um, also relative to

[24:00] personnel, uh, all the performance

[24:02] evaluations for the department heads are

[24:04] completed and I want the commissioners

[24:06] to know some of the goals that the

[24:08] department heads are now locked into and

[24:10] working towards. Um, one of the larger

[24:13] ones is the requisition and facility

[24:16] management software system for our

[24:18] facility maintenance divi division. This

[24:21] is a tool that is long overdue and will

[24:24] be integral to helping the department

[24:26] manage the facility more effectively

[24:28] going forward. Um, our IT people are

[24:31] working towards improving um our daily

[24:33] time entry by expanding and implementing

[24:37] the daily daily sorry the Tyler access

[24:40] portal for use by employees to enter

[24:42] their time off requests. Um, this is all

[24:45] part of our move in the direction of

[24:46] automating processes as recommended by

[24:49] the Abrahams group.

[24:51] One of the other items is all the

[24:53] department heads now know that they're

[24:55] um creating content and information

[24:58] which will be shared throughout the year

[24:59] with the assistant county director uh

[25:02] for deposit into our what we call the

[25:04] ROI database. You received the

[25:06] presentation from the IT director and

[25:09] the assistant county director a few

[25:10] months ago about the creation of this

[25:12] database. um working with our web

[25:15] designer, we're looking to have this

[25:17] product um in a solid beta format for

[25:20] you to look at probably this fall. Um,

[25:23] we're hoping to have most of the content

[25:25] lined up and then every year all the

[25:27] department heads are going to be cycling

[25:28] new information in so that the

[25:30] commissioners can see um for the benefit

[25:33] of all the communities that we can serve

[25:36] that we do serve the the product

[25:39] services and in some cases grants that

[25:42] are given back to communities. In other

[25:43] words, what are we doing for them? So

[25:45] that product should be ready for uh your

[25:47] review this fall. Our engineering

[25:50] department is looking at um expanding

[25:53] the GIS software applications. That's

[25:56] something Patrick started last year.

[25:58] We'll be um moving forward u further

[26:01] with our proc advancing our procurement

[26:03] policy which which does need updating.

[26:06] Um we'll be looking at installing solar

[26:09] at the Wallist Recreational Facility on

[26:11] the top of the cart barn. Um, and

[26:14] finally, um, overall I wanted to let the

[26:17] commissioners know that the the

[26:19] department heads are finally like

[26:21] collectively seeing the benefit of these

[26:23] goals as personally rewarding and

[26:25] obviously very beneficial to the county.

[26:27] The system's working quite well. The

[26:29] performance has been very good. Uh, and

[26:31] I can't thank them all enough for their

[26:33] hard work.

[26:41] would guess it's approximately a three

[26:43] bay garage. Three bay garage if you had

[26:50] storage.

[27:53] And uh we were joined by um uh Patrick

[27:57] and also our our nighttime uh night

[28:00] supervisor who joined us for maintenance

[28:03] and we basically looked at their

[28:05] proposal and then we had to look at like

[28:07] the pros and cons. uh we have a

[28:10] willingness to try to work with the town

[28:11] of Denim which he appreciates but the

[28:14] issue with a couple of things is that is

[28:16] uh the location where we're going to put

[28:18] it to make sure it's safe for the

[28:20] children and what was brought to our

[28:22] attention which is you know reasonable

[28:24] by the director of security the trial

[28:26] courts Jason Dicki who I know from

[28:28] Canton basically said that there's

[28:31] sometimes uh people who use the trial

[28:33] court that might not be um you know you

[28:37] don't want to put them in an area close

[28:38] to children learning how to ride a

[28:40] bicycle. Uh that said, um again, I would

[28:44] look at it in a positive way because

[28:46] truthfully, the program we're looking to

[28:48] do would be in a late afternoon and by

[28:51] that time the trial court is emptied

[28:52] out. The people are gone. They they're

[28:54] done for the day. So, we're looking at

[28:56] maybe like an afternoon program and

[28:58] maybe a couple of a week. Again, the

[29:00] issue though is safety. We want to make

[29:02] sure it's safe. We want to make sure

[29:04] also that we're not limiting too much of

[29:06] the pocket. We're not giving up too

[29:07] much. So, we left it as u kind of

[29:10] open-ended. He was going to look at it

[29:12] guess a school instead of the Gideon

[29:14] school tap excuse me school and they're

[29:17] going to look at that maybe they might

[29:19] run it down there might be safer and

[29:21] better but he kept this as an option and

[29:23] we'll keep your appraise on it. That's

[29:25] all right now. Not solid like we're

[29:27] going to go forward but we're trying. He

[29:28] appreciated the fact that we reached out

[29:30] and we're trying to help him and you

[29:32] know it was a way if we could scale it

[29:34] back it would probably be better but

[29:35] there's the grant itself is it's a new

[29:38] program by DOT right mass DOT and they

[29:42] have strict guidelines in terms of how

[29:44] big it has to be and where you do and

[29:45] stuff like that. Basically it's a

[29:46] program where parents can take their

[29:48] kids to a safe area and teach you how to

[29:51] ride a bike and it's plain and simple.

[29:53] It's bike safety which is a great thing.

[29:55] Just a footnote, I I don't know if you

[29:57] saw the email from Patrick as a

[29:58] followup, but he's offering uh

[30:00] engineering survey services to Denim for

[30:02] that Capeen School location in the event

[30:05] they need that area survey.

[30:09] some challenges with that location, town

[30:11] owned. Um and I think it was off grade

[30:14] and maybe not 88 um compatible. So um

[30:36] no meeting and I had some time to go

[30:38] over and talk to them which worthwhile I

[30:40] don't think we're going to see fruition

[30:42] on it but you never know but if we can

[31:47] will become sort of catchall spaces for

[31:51] redirecting previously obligated funds

[31:54] to liquidate. So um I'm going to wait

[31:57] until um early to midepptember before we

[32:00] have another snapshot of the available

[32:02] surplus and I'll be back to talk to you

[32:04] about making recommendations on how to

[32:07] redistribute them. Um
