[3:15] engineering was selected our most

[3:18] improved yard since they're they're

[3:21] brothers but they're all in business

[3:28] happy to award them certificate of most

[6:05] had the opportunity to hire a battalion

[6:06] chief a few months ago from our budget

[6:12] through nom applications inhouse, out of

[6:15] house. We did some interviews and uh

[6:18] felt like that, uh, Wes Walker was our best fit for our battalion chief.

[6:24] Um, Wes has been in the fire service a

[6:26] long time. Um, fourth generation.

[6:30] Yep. Uh, firefighter um, for here in PAC

[6:34] Fire Department. Um, he's he's worked

[6:36] with us for over 20 years. Um he's

[6:38] worked in different locations in South

[6:40] Jordan, um Oram, um Spanish Fork, Lone

[6:45] Peak, and I'm glad that he was excited

[6:48] enough to come work for us and be uh an

[6:50] employee here in his hometown. Uh he's a

[6:54] great asset for us, and we're excited to

[6:56] have him. He has a lot of great wealth

[6:57] and knowledge. Um and he helps out with

[7:00] our uh medical calls and and with the

[7:02] crews. Um he's also a paramedic so that

[7:05] helps on days we're short on staffing

[7:07] with paramedics. So we're excited to

[7:09] have him as part of our full-time staff.

[7:11] So um great to have him here with us and

[7:15] he's always excited and smiling and I

[7:17] think he grows an inch or two every

[7:19] month. I don't know. He just keeps

[7:20] getting taller and taller. Yeah. But

[7:22] anyway, um thank you for supporting us

[8:00] District where there's a combination

[8:03] department where I was a captain there.

[8:05] From there I came down to uh Oram and

[8:08] then I left Oram after about two years

[8:10] and went to Spanish Fork for six months

[8:12] and then I went back to ORM was at ORM

[8:14] for five years total and the whole time

[8:17] I still maintained with Pac. So I

[8:19] started here and hopefully I'll end here

[8:21] one day. Uh but it's it's honor to be a

[8:25] part of this community and watch our

[8:27] department grow and develop. It's it's

[8:29] fun to be in this growing stage. Um it's

[8:32] not going to be fun. It's not going to

[8:34] be easy, but it we'll get there. So,

[12:16] good hands. Eden is an amazing helper

[12:19] and brings such a positive attitude to

[12:39] what teachers said about him. Parker

[12:42] consistently shows kindness, respect,

[12:46] the people around him. He is the kind of

[12:48] peer that others look up to, not because

[12:50] he seeks attention, but because he

[12:52] naturally sets a great example. He truly

[12:55] embodies the Grizzly motto by being

[12:57] grateful, respectful, responsible, and

[12:59] resilient. Parker makes our school a

[13:01] better place simply by noticing others,

[13:03] including everyone, and offering a

[14:52] spotlight this in pace and focus on it.

[14:55] And part of the Just Serve program is

[14:57] that you will be giving out Just Serve

[14:59] awards for volunteers in the city. And

[15:01] so, I went ahead and chose one for

[15:03] tonight. Um you'll none of you will be

[15:05] surprised, but I would like to invite

[15:17] This is a heart of service award. It

[15:19] commemorates our 250th anniversary of

[15:22] being a nation. And a really pretty

[15:35] she does for our city. And I have a

[19:10] the salmon supper, and there's it's

[19:12] getting to the point where it's kind of

[19:14] an exclusive event almost. Now, there

[19:18] have been several times when I wanted to

[19:20] go because I was traveling and when I

[19:22] got home, all the tickets were already

[19:24] sold out. Um, I'm wondering if there's a

[19:28] better way

[19:30] to do that. I've had two, some people

[19:32] actually say, "Let's have two salmon

[19:33] suppers." Now, that's that's really a

[19:36] hard thing for the staff.

[19:39] >> Yes. And um they said, "Well, you could

[19:42] have one in the evening and one the next

[19:43] morning." But I don't think that'll

[19:46] work. But it almost seems to me that we

[19:50] ought to have a lottery of some kind

[19:55] apply for so many tickets and then if

[19:58] they got picked they got picked because

[20:02] I've come back from Wyoming because I

[20:04] still have people there in my family

[20:29] somewhat. This year we sold just over

[20:31] 2,000 to PAC residents and then the rest

[20:34] were put on sale uh the following

[20:36] Monday.

[20:36] >> My question is how how is it how is it

[20:39] notified? I mean I it's hard to get into

[20:42] the city website sometimes to do this

[20:44] stuff. It's not the friendliest website.

[20:46] >> April, could you could you help us out a

[20:48] little bit? Come on up if you wouldn't

[20:50] mind. As long as we got some time here,

[20:53] but this is not exclusive. Mike, I'd

[20:56] love to take a look at other ways, too.

[20:59] >> So, the tickets go on sale the um three

[21:03] days before and we set aside 2,000 for

[21:05] PAC residents only. You could log on to

[21:08] your our recreation account as long as

[21:12] you're a PAC resident and create a PAC

[21:15] account in that recreation. You could be

[21:18] anywhere in the world and buy your

[21:19] tickets when they go on sale. So they go

[21:22] on sale 9:00 a.m. This year will be a

[21:25] little different. We put the information

[21:27] about the pre-sale in the city

[21:29] newsletter and we try and do it for two

[21:31] months. So, it's kind of one of those

[21:34] things that tells if you're reading our

[21:36] city newsletter, and we're not trying to

[21:38] be secretive. We want to be as

[21:40] transparent as possible, but we have put

[21:42] it in there. Um, you can call the wreck

[21:45] department and we would tell you the

[21:47] days that are on sale and we can

[21:48] actually even help you. So, the um this

[21:51] year the pre-sale went on sale at 9:00

[21:54] a.m. and it was about

[21:58] roughly 1 in the afternoon that we sold

[22:01] out of our 2,000 tickets. So, people had

[22:04] that opportunity to buy them that whole

[22:06] day. Then when what happens next is we

[22:09] give the volunteer tickets. We set them

[22:11] aside because if you're a PAC and

[22:12] volunteer, you get a free ticket and

[22:15] then whatever is left, we put we have

[22:19] everything closed down until they go on

[22:21] sale to the general public on that

[22:22] Monday. On the general public sale,

[22:25] anyone can log in at 9:00 am and buy

[22:29] your ticket. It's kind of like what

[22:31] you're suggesting. It's a lottery in a

[22:32] sense. I don't know how the the system

[22:36] works, how it chooses who gets in first,

[22:39] who doesn't get in first, but you get

[22:41] that opportunity. And then the other

[22:43] thing we did this year is we had a

[22:45] waiting list. So if you gave us a call,

[22:47] we would put you on our waiting list. I

[22:48] had approximately 50 people on the

[22:50] waiting list and I was able to fill

[22:53] everybody on that waiting list. There

[22:55] was only two families and I just

[22:57] couldn't get a hold of them. So

[23:00] >> I appreciate all the hard work. problem

[23:02] is there's still a problem and I I think

[23:04] it needs to make it we need to make it

[23:07] easier than it is now because that

[23:09] presupposes that they have the apps or

[23:11] all these other things.

[23:17] that information out to the public

[23:19] because I've talked to a lot of people

[23:20] and they are not happy.

[25:18] that all the volunteers do. One of the suggestions that's gaining a

[25:23] lot of traction that I took some time to

[25:26] check on was to start the senior

[25:29] citizens earlier. So, I took the time to

[25:31] get on the buses as they were leaving uh

[25:34] the salmon supper and ask them if there

[25:37] would be any interest if we started

[25:38] earlier around 1:00 if they could come

[25:42] earlier. And they were so excited. Two

[25:44] buses says that way we can get back for

[25:47] other activities.

[25:49] So, I I think it's something I was kind

[25:52] of waiting until the dust settled from

[25:54] this year and the pains went away to

[25:56] talk about it, but uh I I really think

[25:59] the idea of maybe starting a little

[26:01] earlier and and helping get some of the

[26:04] people that couldn't come at 1:00

[26:07] because of work and that we could get

[26:09] those buses here and feed them and then

[26:11] be ready for the citizenry,

[26:14] you know, regular time.

[26:17] >> set aside for res but you have so many

[26:22] out of town people that are no longer

[26:24] piece of residents that are just

[26:26] devastated because that preale really

[26:28] does work. Yeah,

[27:42] things. Um, first, just to let you know,

[27:45] we've we've had quite a few calls, u

[27:47] medical and fire. Um, things are still

[27:50] dry even with all the rain we've had.

[27:52] Um, we were actually out on the freeway

[27:53] the other day with a fire um from a tire

[27:58] and so it was surprising to see how well

[28:00] the grass that was cut still burned. Uh,

[28:03] so things still are dry. So, we're we're

[28:06] cautious about that and hopefully we'll

[28:08] um still have good uh results for our

[28:12] area without any fires and things. So,

[28:16] um we're keeping our our park closed to

[28:18] fires. Um the Forest Service has still

[28:21] remained open for fires. No restrictions

[28:23] at all anywhere in in Pacin Canyon or

[28:26] the Uenta Wasach. Um but they have a a

[28:30] better moisture content up higher than

[28:31] we do down lower. Um, also, um, we've

[28:35] been working on, um, we we got a

[28:38] sidebyside a couple years ago. We use

[28:40] for fire and medical calls, rescue type

[28:42] stuff. Um, we've been doing work on that

[28:44] and and a lot goes to Renzy and he did a

[28:47] lot of fabrication stuff so we could

[28:48] put, um, a stretcher basically in the

[28:52] machine so when we had to go up into the

[28:54] canyons to get people, we can take the

[28:56] patients instead of having a whole group

[28:58] of people have to pack people out for

[29:00] miles on a trail. Uh, this machine will

[29:03] work wherever we go. Um, Forbay, Pacing

[29:06] Canyon, the trails here. So, it's taken

[29:08] a while to get the fabrication,

[29:10] everything done, but um, we'll have to

[29:12] show you pictures. He's done a fantastic

[29:13] job putting it all together. So, I would

[29:15] like to thank Ren for his help on that.

[29:18] Um, Station 92 is is going well. You

[29:22] hopefully you've driven by and seen all

[29:23] the earth work, all the fill they're

[29:25] bringing in um to bring the site up to

[29:27] grade. Um, it's amazing how much they've

[29:29] had to bring in, but um, things are

[29:31] going well. We did our pre-construction

[29:32] meeting today. There's a few little

[29:34] things we're working out, but we're continuing to move forward with

[29:37] the station um and getting that under

[29:40] construction. Um they're doing the peers

[29:42] right now, which they put down the

[29:44] ground to help stabilize the ground as

[29:46] they put the footings and stuff there

[29:48] because of liquefaction.

[29:50] >> How deep do those peers go, do you

[29:51] think, Chief?

[29:52] >> 40 feet.

[29:53] >> Yeah, pretty deep. Yeah, they it was

[29:56] surprising to to hear that when they did the um testing of the ground

[30:01] that um there was water 20 feet down and

[30:04] so they felt like there could be

[30:05] liquefaction. So um it's interesting

[30:08] that our whole area um there's been

[30:11] challenges. Salem had to do it. Spanish

[30:13] work on their station had to do it.

[30:15] We've had to do it, but unfortunately

[30:16] we've had to go a little bit deeper than

[30:18] the others just because of that site.

[30:20] But um things are going well. um they've

[30:24] got most of the um contracts um bids

[30:27] back in and so it looks like things are

[30:29] progressing well with that. So we look

[30:30] forward to um doing a groundbreaking

[30:34] here soon once we we're our plan is to

[30:37] uh with the site work get the the peers

[30:39] in place and then it can be leveled out

[30:42] a little bit and then we can do a

[30:43] groundbreaking for the station and park

[31:20] transmission line, a 345

[31:23] KV uh transmission line through our city

[31:26] and we have some real concerns about

[31:27] that about its location. We we support

[31:30] the transmission. We we support

[31:32] generation and all of those things and

[31:34] distribution, but uh its location uh

[31:36] along the Sharp uh railway line that

[31:39] goes straight through our city is a real

[31:41] concern for us and so we were gathering

[31:43] some more information. We will be

[31:45] meeting with them and providing you

[31:47] updates as we get more information. So

[31:49] apologize for our tardiness. Uh I wanted

[31:52] to come and just quickly talk about a

[31:54] problem that I didn't expect to have.

[31:58] I met with uh David Rolley today uh and

[32:01] the problem is a good one. Uh, our

[32:03] innovation center is so busy. Uh, all of

[32:06] the spaces have been rented out. They

[32:08] only have one desk left to be rented uh

[32:11] in in the whole facility. I would

[32:13] encourage you all to go down there

[32:15] sometime. Uh, it is a bustling place at

[32:18] all times of the day. Uh, and so we're so pleased with the success that

[32:24] we've seen there and the resource that

[32:26] that's been to the community. I just

[32:27] wanted to give you an update on that of

[32:29] how well that's doing uh and looking for

[32:32] ways to continue to provide that to our

[32:34] residents. So, thank you.

[32:53] got a lot of energy still this time of

[32:55] year. Uh we had a had a project Saturday

[32:59] morning down under the freeway uh and

[33:02] worked our way on both sides of the

[33:03] freeway and and cleaned that up. It was fun. We had fun. We've now moved

[33:10] from uh yard of the month uh in

[33:12] September in awarding that that our our

[33:16] yard for October will be the best

[33:19] Halloween direction or uh decoration. So

[33:22] we would like we would like the

[33:24] nominations in by the 25th of October so

[33:28] that we can award it the first uh

[33:30] council meeting of November. So it'll be

[33:33] a Halloween themed uh yard. So, we'll

[33:37] accept nominations up till the 25th of October.

[33:42] Um, then Lacy and I and Robert and Dave

[33:48] and Sean had the wonderful opportunity

[33:51] to go up to the Uamps convention. Uh,

[33:55] man, we're facing a lot of complex

[33:57] issues. Transmission being being one of

[34:00] them. There's a lot of new power sources

[34:02] coming on, but there's not enough

[34:04] transmission lines to carry the the new

[34:06] power and trying to get Pacific Core or

[34:10] Rocky Mountain. Uh I think they told us

[34:13] in the one session, Lacy, that the

[34:16] application period is eight years out

[34:18] for power that's ready to come online

[34:20] right now that they won't even accept

[34:23] their application for eight more years.

[34:26] So, we're we're facing some growing problems with power. I think the

[34:30] most exciting part of the the trip was

[34:34] uh

[34:35] sitting in the hotel room without power.

[34:39] Uh you go to a power convention and uh

[34:42] the power goes out. But what was really

[34:45] exciting was the next morning I took a

[34:47] tour of the their generation plants and

[34:50] they actually had a real time video of

[34:53] the lightning hitting a transformer and

[34:56] that was pretty cool. uh looked like

[34:58] somebody really blasting an arc welder.

[35:01] Uh but it knocked out it knocked out the

[35:03] whole the whole south and west part of Logan. Uh but I was impressed how

[35:10] quickly they got it back up for as much

[35:11] devastation as it did. So uh a lot of

[35:15] neat things. I think Sean should be very uh happy with what Pac City is

[35:21] doing and what Sean's doing. I know that

[35:24] I come away with a sense of of uh

[35:27] admiration for Shawn and what we've done

[35:30] with our new generators and and power

[35:32] protecting the citizens of PAC and not

[35:36] buying spot power as much anymore. Uh I

[35:39] look forward to some of the new

[35:41] technology that's coming down the

[35:43] pipeline as long as we can get it to our

[35:45] lines. So, thank you for that

[35:48] opportunity to go and and see that and

[35:50] to hear hear the speakers. They were great. Thank you.

[35:59] things. Um, first, I saw a post on

[36:03] Facebook about um complimenting the

[36:06] flowers along 9:30 towards the temple.

[36:10] Um, and I I live over there, but they

[36:13] said a big shout out to uh who whomever

[36:16] planted these flowers. They are

[36:18] stunning. And I just wanted to um thank

[36:22] Tracy and his team even though Tracy's

[36:24] not here today um for going

[36:28] just running with the plan and the idea.

[36:31] It was a great collaboration and and

[36:33] it's made it they've made it a really

[36:36] beautiful part of our city and those

[36:37] flowers are the sunflowers and the

[36:40] zenyas are just beautiful and I drive by

[36:44] there almost every day and there are

[36:48] people on that path every all the time

[36:51] and so it has been wonderful and um

[36:55] along those same lines I was driving

[36:58] early this early in the morning up to

[37:01] Provo to work and um this week and I

[37:04] just the rain has made everything so

[37:07] beautiful in our little part of the

[37:08] valley and the views of the mountains

[37:12] and I was just struck and I and I don't

[37:16] think I take it for granted but and

[37:18] maybe some people do but I don't think

[37:20] about it all the time but we live in a

[37:23] beautiful area with beautiful views,

[37:26] beautiful mountains, beautiful farmland

[37:30] and I just I just wanted to bring that

[37:32] to everybody's attention to notice that

[37:35] more often. We are truly blessed to live

[37:38] in such a beautiful place and I hope we

[37:40] can do

[37:42] a lot to preserve it cuz once once the

[37:44] farmland is gone, it's gone if you if we

[37:47] choose to let it go. And it's valuable.

[37:49] And um I've I've had the opportunity to

[37:53] live where there were no mountains. And

[37:55] you miss them when you've lived where

[37:57] there are mountains. And so, um, I just love looking at them, especially

[38:02] early in the morning if I happen to be

[38:04] up that early. Um, and then also Onion

[38:08] Days. I'm so excited. I hope to see

[38:09] everybody at all the activities. Starts

[38:11] tomorrow with the concert. Aaron Watson,

[39:24] support to our city and our fire

[39:53] different options and we have not found

[39:55] the silver bullet yet, but unfortunately

[39:57] it's just really popular. People love it

[40:03] it, but we can't we can't kill off our help either. So it's that that

[40:08] metric we're trying to figure out, but

[41:55] them to apply. Um, President Chris has

[41:58] just been fantastic, especially for PAC

[42:01] helping us get the MTech building here.

[42:04] And going along with that is uh, Senor

[42:06] is a business that moved into the

[42:08] Plunder building and they had kind of an

[42:11] open house uh, a couple of weeks ago.

[42:15] But one thing I did find out is one of

[42:17] the reasons they moved here is because

[42:20] of the MTech building and the MTech. And

[42:23] so we've arranged to uh next week to

[42:26] take them through the Mtech building.

[42:28] They haven't been through it. So we're

[42:29] going to take the the send some of the

[42:31] Senor people through that building. Then

[42:34] the last thing I have is just uh we uh

[42:37] hired a consulting company to help us

[42:39] bring retail into PAC. It's called

[42:42] retail strategies. And they were here

[42:45] this Monday. Came and looked over the

[42:47] town and they thought there was lots of

[42:48] potential here. and they met with about

[42:50] five of the different land owners that

[42:52] have land that's available for retail.

[42:54] So, we'll just keep you a breast of how

[42:56] that's going. But, if we can get more

[42:59] retail here, it helps us have more

[43:01] options for shopping and eating, but it

[43:03] also brings in the sales tax dollars to

[43:07] help us keep rates down. So, thank you,

[43:14] I uh Bob already took all the thunder on

[43:17] the U amps thing, but um I learned more

[43:21] about power in a couple days than ever

[43:23] in my life, especially I thought I knew

[43:33] since being on the council and that

[43:34] really pushed it more of just being so c

[43:37] conscious of our usage, especially,

[43:42] you know, when we're not in the room and

[43:43] just little things like that of just how

[43:45] much it affects us and the increase of

[43:48] usage. Um, but so that was a lot of fun.

[43:51] I was at Walmart when the power went out

[43:54] and so that was even more fun. Um, and

[43:57] it was a torrential downpour.

[44:00] Uh, I'm really excited for Onion Days.

[44:02] I'm really nervous though because I

[44:04] don't know what to expect on everything.

[44:07] My husband thought he was going hunting

[44:08] this weekend and I told him he is not

[44:11] and so cuz I will be busy. So, poor him.
