[1:53] bond and inclusivity of all citizens.

[1:56] Whereas in the United States 70 million

[1:58] adults have a disability and only 16,000

[2:00] service dogs from accredited training

[2:03] programs exist nationwide and the need

[2:05] is growing. Whereas K9 Companions

[2:08] created the service dog for people with

[2:09] physical disabilities 50 years ago in

[2:12] 1975 creating a new kind of support for

[2:15] disability. Whereas K9 Companions is a

[2:18] nonprofit organization that enhances the

[2:21] lives of people with disabilities by

[2:23] providing expertly trained service dogs

[2:26] and ongoing support for to ensure

[2:28] quality partnerships. Whereas K9

[2:31] Companions and their service dogs

[2:33] empower people with disabilities to lead

[2:35] lives with greater independence by

[2:37] providing best-in-class training,

[2:39] ongoing follow-up services, and a deeply

[2:42] committed community of support. Whereas

[2:44] National Service Dog Month aims to

[2:46] educate our community about the benefits

[2:47] of service dogs and the laws protecting

[2:50] their handlers. Whereas in recognition

[2:52] of service dogs and the adults and

[2:54] children with disabilities in our

[2:56] community, inclusive community in which

[2:58] all citizens and their trained service

[3:00] dogs are embraced. Now therefore, be it

[3:04] recognized that service dogs and the

[3:07] adults and children with disabilities in

[3:08] our community

[3:11] do hereby proclaim September to be the

[3:13] national service dog month and encourage

[3:16] all the citizens to celebrate service

[3:18] dogs and be respectful of the right to

[3:20] safe access in our community afforded to

[3:23] adults, children, and veterans who lead

[3:25] more independent lives because of their

[3:26] assistance. so proclaimed and effective

[3:55] >> Okay. I am Margot Dietrich, my partner,

[3:59] service dog Manhattan, who has served me

[4:03] as not just my dog, but my son and my personal care attendant, my associate

[4:13] therapy dog, I mean PT dog, he and my

[4:17] business partner because you see how

[4:21] dogs put people at ease.

[4:25] That's what he does with my business

[4:26] partners. But we also have

[4:30] Edie with Puppy Nepal.

[4:36] We have puppy razors who get our dogs at

[4:39] 8 weeks old. They're shipped from

[4:41] California.

[4:43] And we have these wonderful volunteers

[4:46] who give their time, their home, their

[4:50] heart, and their money to raise these

[4:53] babies until they're about 15 to 18

[4:55] months. And then they go to our

[4:58] campuses. We have six across the country

[5:02] where our professional trainers teach

[5:05] them the skills that they will need to

[5:08] help people with individual I mean

[5:11] individuals with disabilities or we have

[5:14] hearing dogs now. We have PTSD dogs. So

[5:19] we have a veterans program.

[5:22] It's awesome. children and adults. And

[5:26] we have um our therapy dogs here,

[5:32] two therapy dogs. When we try very hard,

[5:36] we have our own breeding program, but

[5:39] still only about 50% of the dogs

[5:42] actually graduate as therapy dog, as

[5:46] service dogs.

[5:48] If they don't graduate, the puppy razors

[5:51] can get them back, and most do. And

[5:56] these ladies turned dogs they raised

[6:00] into therapy dogs. It's a another

[6:05] full education of what these dogs need

[6:08] to do. But we have Maryanne with Falty

[6:13] and Sharon.

[6:15] I can't even see him with Jazz. Jazzy,

[6:19] right?

[6:19] >> Jazz Jazz.

[6:21] >> We don't name them.

[6:22] >> And and we have another therapy dog that

[6:25] is a facility dog working at Shepherd

[6:28] Center. Some of our therapy dogs

[6:31] actually work in institutions,

[6:35] courts, schools, hospitals, nursing

[6:38] homes to help patients through all kinds

[6:41] of things. So that's I I brought a a

[6:46] whole group tonight because last time we

[6:49] only had a puppy. I want to tell those

[6:51] who saw and met Fabriio last year that

[6:56] he just went to college.

[6:59] Just started in August. And so his puppy

[7:03] razors are

[7:06] not here because it's hard to give your

[7:08] dog up. God bless them. But we have

[7:11] Sharon who is going to tell you some

[7:14] really exciting news for our whole

[7:17] community about Kenan Companions.

[7:22] >> So, uh, the big announcement for the

[7:24] greater Atlanta area is we have gotten a

[7:27] field office. It will be in the North

[7:30] Druid Hills area, Decar. It's off of

[7:32] Briercliffe. We are hoping that the

[7:35] office will be open early 2027.

[7:39] It will function as a mini regional

[7:42] center. Right now, our regional center

[7:44] is Orlando, Florida. So, when we turn

[7:47] our dogs in for uh professional

[7:50] training, we have to travel to Orlando.

[7:52] We are going to be able to utilize this

[7:54] office um off of Brier Cliff. It's about

[7:58] 5,000 square feet and the buildout won't

[8:01] be too much. Um, so we're hoping to get

[8:03] that started pretty quickly and that is

[8:07] huge news for us because it opens up a

[8:10] lot of opportunities for volunteers. If

[8:12] you don't want to raise a puppy, we will

[8:14] need help there. We will need help

[8:16] bathing dogs, walking dogs, um, just all

[8:19] kinds of opportunities for volunteers to

[8:22] become involved with K9 Companions. even

[8:25] if you do not have a graduate dog, a

[8:28] therapy dog, a new puppy, or a facility

[8:31] dog. And these dogs all cover all areas

[8:35] of K9 Companions, and we thank you so

[11:29] Corner Circle. Um, basically,

[11:33] um, there's been some construction all

[11:36] summer on East Jones Bridge Road. The

[11:40] only thing I can see that's different,

[11:41] and supposedly it's going to be finished

[11:43] pretty soon, um, is that the sidewalk

[11:47] from Wateride down to Jones Bridge Park

[11:50] has been widened so golf carts can drive

[11:52] down. But it's basically it's cut us

[11:56] like I live off West Jones. My

[11:58] neighborhood has only one entrance and

[12:00] exit onto West Jones and we're cut off

[12:03] and it's very difficult to get to um

[12:06] Engles in that area.

[12:09] Uh so it's brought a lot of traffic down

[12:11] West Jones Bridge Road because all the

[12:13] people who live past me have to go down

[12:15] West Jones.

[12:18] Um so it's that's a problem. Then uh

[12:22] this last month we had the glow race at

[12:24] night.

[12:26] Um, basically Saturday night we were

[12:29] stuck in the house because we couldn't

[12:31] go out because goes from 8 to 10. The

[12:35] problem with the glow race is that god

[12:38] forbid if there's a fire or a heart

[12:39] attack, it's very and with East Jones

[12:42] being closed be very hard to get an

[12:45] emergency vehicle down to our

[12:47] neighborhoods on West Jones.

[12:50] Um, now in the future, from what I

[12:53] understand, Peachy Corner Circle in

[12:56] front of the day building, they'll have

[12:57] some sort of like a roundabout, if I'm

[13:00] not mistaken. And it seems that's going

[13:03] to take some construction, too. So,

[13:05] we'll have another blockage. And again,

[13:07] my area will have only one way to get

[13:10] out, East Jones, or to go make a

[13:12] right-hand turn and go towards the Cab

[13:14] County on Peach Corner Circle. So, it's

[13:18] just basically it's the traffic just

[13:20] seems to be getting bigger and bigger

[13:22] and more blockage and more construction

[13:24] and it's getting more difficult to get

[13:26] out of our area and more and more

[13:28] traffic

[13:30] and it just to me and also I don't know

[13:33] it seems like I'm seeing a lot of

[13:35] surveyors on Peach Corner Circle. So,

[13:38] are we going to make Peach Corner Circle

[13:40] Road and

[13:43] you know uh three lanes or four lanes?

[13:45] Is that the plan? I have no idea.

[13:48] I mean, you guys know because I see a

[13:51] lot of surveyors there.

[13:53] And that's basically, you know, it just

[13:55] seems to be more and more traffic and in

[13:58] our area, which is a very quiet single

[14:01] family homes area. But it seems that

[14:03] with as we have more and more

[14:04] apartments, we need more and more lanes,

[14:07] more and more traffic,

[14:09] which is not good.

[14:12] And then I I want to make one other

[14:14] comment that I spoke to uh uh the lady

[14:17] there, can't see her name, um Ora about

[14:22] the purchase

[14:24] of the uh property uh in town center for

[14:28] $3 and a4 million dollars. Uh I don't

[14:31] know how we're going to pay for it

[14:32] because it's a bankrupt business and

[14:33] it's empty and I don't know what the

[14:34] plan is on the deal. It was sort of

[14:37] surprise a few months ago. So, I have an

[14:40] excellent idea how to make money to pay

[14:42] off that $ three and a quart million

[14:44] dollar what, however we use the money,

[14:46] loan, whatever, reserves. That's simple.

[14:49] We just do like LA and New York.

[14:52] We tax people have second homes in the

[14:55] area and we tax empty apartments.
