[0:34]
Rick Corbin
>> Here.
[0:36]
» Brad Laquidari
>> Here.
[0:37]
» Tim Pritchard
>> Here.
[0:39]
» Steve Danner
>> Here.
[0:40]
» Okay, we have a quorum.
[0:43]
Next order of business is we have two
sets of minutes to approve. The first is
[0:49]
the August 4th.
All board members have had access to
[0:53]
read.
Are there any corrections, additions,
[0:58]
changes to the August 4th minutes?
[1:04]
Anyone okay? If there no
changes I will entertain a motion to
[1:10]
approve the August 4th minutes as they
are written.
[1:15]
Okay, Tim Pritchard
>> I'll second it.
[1:18]
» Rick Corbin second. All those in favor
of
[1:22]
accepting or approving the minutes from
August 4th meeting say I.
[1:26]
» I.
>> Opposed?
[1:30]
Second order is that we approve minutes
for the August 20th meeting.
[1:37]
All members have had access to read it.
Have any changes or
[1:42]
things you want to add or correct?
[1:47]
Then I'll entertain a motion to
accept the minutes as written for the
[1:53]
August 20th meeting.
I'll make a motion. Corbin makes the
[1:57]
motion.
>> Second.
[1:59]
» Then Richard makes second. Those in
favor of accepting the minutes of August
[2:04]
20th as written, say I.
>> I.
[2:07]
» Opposed?
[2:11]
All right. Our old business, that's
[2:16]
we carried forward because we weren't
already to kind of make some changes
[2:21]
yet.
But, we are ready now.
[2:25]
So, is there anything you want to add,
um, Interim Chief Trailer, about Nathan
[2:31]
Silva before we go ahead and
make the recommendation?
[2:34]
» Uh, we've had this on the table for a
while now. I think it's
[2:37]
still, uh, my recommendation is best
suited to appoint, uh, Officer Nathan
[2:41]
Silva to the acting night shift sergeant
position.
[2:44]
Silva does a great job. He's somebody
I'm I'm growing
[2:48]
I'm learning that I can lean on more and
more, uh, especially as he's had this
[2:51]
whole kind of pending.
Uh, and and I think he'll do a good job
[2:54]
with it.
>> When do you anticipate he would make
[2:57]
this change?
>> Uh, I believe the date where he would
[3:00]
actually switch over to night shift
after we do a little bit of day shift
[3:02]
training, uh,
would be, uh, September 20th.
[3:06]
» Um,
board members, do you have any questions
[3:10]
for, um, Interim Chief Trailer about
Nathan Silva?
[3:16]
All right, then I'll entertain a
recommendation to approve Nathan Silva
[3:20]
as acting sergeant on second shift.
Okay, Brian Arthur makes the motion.
[3:27]
» I'll second that.
>> Then Corbin seconds.
[3:31]
All those in favor of, uh,
recommending that we approve Nathan
[3:35]
Silva as acting sergeant on second
shift, say I.
[3:39]
» I.
>> Opposed?
[3:42]
Say nay.
>> Nay.
[3:44]
» Okay.
All right.
[3:47]
All of the board members agreed we're
making a little shift in the agenda,
[3:52]
just the order of the agenda, nothing
else is being thrown out or added. Um
[3:57]
in new business, we're um
we've asked
[4:02]
we have three.
One is about um
[4:07]
a recommended This is This is
This is the old one. We have an amended
[4:11]
agenda on.
>> I can pull it up.
[4:15]
» Okay, we have an amended agenda that was
posted because that amended agenda
[4:20]
we're going to um
look at Travis Thompson as a
[4:29]
Yes.
He's going to be an acting He's going to
[4:31]
be the the
He'll be It's called a change of
[4:35]
technical
status to detective from patrolman.
[4:41]
You want to give us a
summary of Travis Thompson?
[4:45]
» Yeah, um
Travis has actually Here, Travis, you've
[4:49]
been an officer for
28 almost Yeah, 28 years.
[4:52]
» Uh several years as a detective at the
Anderson Police Department. Uh
[4:56]
and and I've done my research and and
made some phone calls to ensure that
[5:00]
Travis was going to be the right person
for this job. It's a very, very
[5:03]
unanimous yes. Travis is fully qualified
to do this. I have no doubts in my mind
[5:07]
that Travis is more than capable
stepping in this role and doing a hell
[5:11]
of a job with it.
There's no concerns on my end of making
[5:15]
some kind of a technical job.
He has no personal
[5:21]
» Board members, do you have anything you
want to add?
[5:26]
» All right.
>> Uh
[5:28]
we've all received his resume
and had a chance to look at it. And
[5:32]
you're recommending So, I'll entertain a
motion to accept
[5:40]
the recommendation to approve
Travis Thompson as [clears throat] the
[5:44]
detective.
>> Motion.
[5:46]
» Motion.
>> Second.
[5:49]
» As acting
>> detective.
[5:51]
We talked about that.
So
[5:54]
He did
>> Okay, make a motion and
[5:57]
» Thank you.
All those in favor of the motion say I.
[6:01]
» I.
>> Opposed?
[6:05]
» Congratulations, Travis.
>> All right. Um
[6:10]
Thank you.
Interim Chief for making that
[6:13]
suggestion. So, would you uh let's go on
to the next order of business. Just
[6:17]
update us in the transition so far.
>> Uh so, with the approval of both
[6:21]
approvals that the board made tonight,
uh
[6:24]
so, we'll be starting out and I believe
I don't have the calendar in front of me
[6:27]
tonight, but I believe his first night
shift uh will be September the 12th. Uh
[6:32]
at that same time, our newest hire also
showed he'll also be switching to nights
[6:35]
as he's going through the field training
process. He'll work his days, do a good
[6:40]
job, which is fine, but he'll be
transitioning to night shift because
[6:42]
that's where he'll be assigned shift.
Great.
[6:46]
Uh I'll be working with Travis and with
him while he is being trained.
[6:51]
To show you guys his transition into the
detective position,
[6:54]
uh it'll take a little bit of time
just due to staffing manpower.
[6:59]
I I wish I could start him there
tomorrow first thing, but we just can't.
[7:02]
But I'll go over that with him uh this
week.
[7:06]
And we'll map out what the day training
is for signing into day shift. We'll
[7:10]
have some more work for him to do on
nights in the time that he's able to do
[7:12]
that.
But again, I think both of these
[7:14]
approvals Yes, sir.
Great. I I appreciate the board
[7:17]
approving those
over to you.
[7:20]
Uh for both of those guys.
[7:25]
Um
as far as day shift staffing goes, uh
[7:28]
we'll fill this patrol spot being open
on days. Scott will transition into that
[7:32]
spot. So, basically it's just a change
over there.
[7:35]
Uh
[7:38]
biggest thing is we're we're maintaining
business as usual. We're know we're
[7:41]
still here. we're still taking calls.
Everybody, as long as everyone calls,
[7:45]
take the phone, whatever the case may be
for the public. We're not going
[7:47]
anywhere, so whatever is needed of us,
we'll be there to help you.
[7:53]
And I just want to continue working with
the board, trying to move forward with
[7:57]
with this process.
Maintain open communication.
[8:02]
If you're listening, you know,
I'm going to follow up with you.
[8:07]
» Thank you, Mr.
Gray. Appreciate that.
[8:10]
Our last order of business is an
overview of the search and selection
[8:14]
process, and this is a very
beginning stage.
[8:19]
We discovered that there we needed to
improve upon the job description, so
[8:23]
that's our next step. We're going to
look at job descriptions and then
[8:28]
then post
and then probably get some
[8:32]
uh
expertise in
[8:35]
the process of
the job. But we're still at the
[8:39]
beginning stages. We're we're balancing
doing it quickly but versus doing it
[8:44]
correctly. So, be patient.
Um this is the beginning, so we hope to
[8:50]
get
your department stabilized as soon as
[8:53]
possible.
Each um
[8:58]
meeting, our next meeting is October
6th, we'll update that process
[9:03]
um where we are. So,
I wish I could give you more
[9:06]
information, but we've just it's just a
week since we've made a change.
[9:13]
Anybody want to add to that?
Okay.
[9:21]
Then
that's the business for tonight. I will
[9:24]
entertain a motion to adjourn.
>> Motion to adjourn, please.
[9:28]
» Okay.
Okay, so Richard motion to adjourn with
[9:32]
Lenny second.
All those in favor of
[9:35]
the motion to adjourn, I.
>> I. Opposed?
[9:39]
Okay.
>> Question. Thank you.
[9:43]
That's it.
