[0:04] Can I do differently with them? The weda.us website is just a very, very valuable resource for our teachers. So, just getting that out there to them and in their hands and knowing that they have that available, just continuously monitoring the academic progress of our ELL students to ensure that their experiencing success and if not what do we need to do?
[0:34] provide the support for them and also work, you know, continuing to work with the ELL
[0:40] teachers that we have and making sure that they have all the tools and their toolbox
[0:45] that they need.
[0:48] So,
[0:53] and then we provided as well the fall to spring in WA growth results for each grade level
[1:03] So these particular charts, they show the purple bar, shows actual growth for the entire grade level, the average, how much, and this growth is based on the rich score.
[1:20] So like all kindergarteners in first grade, they grew, like 23 points.
[1:29] And then the diamond is, what was their target for the year?
[1:34] And their target is based on where they started at the beginning of the year.
[1:40] So, NWA has done extensive research and norms setting.
[1:46] And so, they know, you know, if you start at this RIT score on average, this is how much growth we've seen.
[1:53] So, this is your target for the year.
[1:56] So, obviously, we want our purple bars to be above those diamonds or at those diamonds.
[2:03] So, if you language arts on the top and mathematics on the bottom.
[2:08] So, you can see in math, we all of the grade levels reached it for math.
[2:17] For language arts, K, 1, 2 and 3, reached theirs, 4, fell just a little short and fifth was just right at it for their growth.
[2:38] And then we provide each school's picture.
[2:42] So you can see how each school performed and their average growth based on their targets.
[2:54] So you can see, like in this particular example, third grade in math, very, very well, very much exceeded their target.
[3:07] So that's, you know, those are things that obviously that we want to celebrate.
[3:12] So things you want to add or...
[3:14] No.
[3:15] I just wanted to add to, we're very pleased with the H&WA progress.
[3:19] This was actually, when you compare it to last year,
[3:22] a much higher rate of student achievement
[3:25] on the NAVA assessment, particularly in air and mathematics.
[3:28] Very high software teachers and our administrators there.
[3:31] And as we wrap up, looking at that area where she for fourth grade
[3:35] is actually two schools where we can target next year
[3:38] to help to look at that data.
[3:40] But one, you just have an overall picture of how that assessment
[3:44] was supporting our other state data and also our Irene.
[3:48] so if there any other questions I'm gonna turn it back over to the board. Thank
[3:58] you very much
[4:00] Thank you. thankful you
[4:03] Thank you
[4:08] Much appreciated our dream
[4:13] To that year thank you all right, thank you for sharing with us, and we're gonna take about a good
[4:19] five, six minutes break before we get started and then we'll be back. Thank you.

[4:46] of regular school board meeting for June 8, 2023. At this time, we always began our meeting with

[5:12] I'm totally not the 30 minutes for this period, stage a name, come forward, and you may
[5:19] share at this time.
[5:25] You know, one for the good of the calls, thank you.

[14:34] At this time, I really want to recognize our tennis team.
[14:39] The girls' tennis team was number one, I'm sorry, so make sure you want to hear me.
[14:44] Our girls' tennis team was number one in the mid.

[14:56] They're overall record was 13 in one this season.
[15:00] Just happening the last game, the last match of the season, but 13 and 1 is something to be very proud about. So please give them a hand on that.
[15:12] This season, their domination was clear as they won 42 to 3 in the sense of their opponents. 42 to 3, that is unbelievable.
[15:23] And the last thing, the girls are coming too tight. This is what pipe needs to be excited for. They are 29 and 4 as a group. 29 and 4, please give it up for them.

[17:55] Back to back at that.
[18:04] And after that, we will also have our wrestling coach, Mr. Johnson, and representing our
[18:09] athlete who was also undefeated.
[18:10] Thank you.
[18:22] Good evening to the members of the board and Dr. Young.
[18:26] My name is Coach Chestnut.
[18:28] I am the Head Girls Coach at New Augusta North Public Academy.
[18:31] Our team is supported and nurtured 110% by dedicated coaches.
[18:38] These coaches are Coach Graves, Coach Jones, Coach Livingston, Coach Mack, Coach
[18:43] Berchett, Coach Hooks Cockrum and Myself.
[18:47] Our season started off with 50 girls, about 80% were new to track.
[18:52] When first, the first me ended with a strong win to a fierce competitor in a two-way
[18:57] me, I saw an opportunity for us to just break a few school records.
[19:02] These young ladies demonstrated a lot of strong leadership within the group, trust and willingness
[19:06] to follow our lead, and we became a force to be reckoned with.
[19:10] They are supportive, compassionate, and patient, and they will fight for each other, and
[19:15] this is why we win.
[19:18] We won our district meet, we won back-to-back runner-up make-meats, we were one of the top contenders
[19:24] at the Marion County meet, and before the thunder and storm in the lightning, ultimately
[19:29] we rose to the occasion, not without multiple challenges.
[19:35] But with nothing but mental toughness, we went down in Tara Hought, Indiana at Indiana State
[19:41] University for the middle school state track and field meet.
[19:45] It was quite a journey.
[19:47] Friends and family of MDS Pike Township schools, we are here partially today to congratulate
[19:53] New Augusta North Public Academy for back-to-back state middle school championship for girls tracking
[20:03] people.
[20:10] Some of our runners here today are Mia Mathis. She was our star herdler, 200 dash
[20:19] herdler. She was in the 4 by 1 and she did high jump. Almost broke the school record for high jump.
[20:28] And we also have Courtney Taylor, who was also on our four by one.
[20:34] She was an alternate for our four by four.
[20:37] She did stay qualified for the long jump.
[20:41] And also stay qualified for the hundred and two hundred dash.
[20:49] Our other girls aren't here, but we'll take their medals and certificates.
[20:54] Thank you very much.
[21:55] How's everybody doing?
[21:58] All right.
[22:00] I'm sorry.
[22:02] All right.
[22:03] So I'm here for Rachel Adolfe.
[22:05] She is the only girl that went in 23 and 2 last year.
[22:09] And she want to make, actually, this past season.
[22:13] We're going 30, you know.
[22:14] Some here just recognize her for that.
[22:16] Overall, just as a coach,
[22:18] I'm loving her to the girl that she's aspiring to be the one that she's
[22:23] aspiring to be, also a straight-day student, so I'm really there as students
[22:27] as far as I have fleece that can, so I'm just pushing that narrative in.
[22:30] She's only girl, had her as a six-phase student. She can't wait to have her for this fall, and hopefully another on the feet of the season, and she's also going to pipe. So, I just want to recognize where she'll die.
[23:31] And this time, I would like to invite Pai High School athletic directors from Ms. Kinjutshamp and Merkel and Mr. David Paddock.
[23:52] First and foremost, President Webster, members of the Board, Dr. Young, Ms. Champion, Merkel and I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the support and commitment you offer to the student athletes and our department.
[24:03] It's truly been an honor for us to serve our community and it's a blessing and we just wanted to make sure we should thank you.
[24:10] We'd also like to extend our appreciation to the coaches, the teachers, mentors and parents who have played a vital role in shaping our exceptional student athletes.
[24:19] And to highlight the student athlete piece, at the high school we currently had 200 or
[24:24] excuse me, 737 student athletes that competed this year.
[24:29] The overall average of the GPA of all those students, we just ran these this morning, came
[24:35] out to 2.94 cum, so that's all 737, that's the average.
[24:42] Our junior class in senior class, so through their junior year and through their senior year,
[24:47] Our student athletes came in at a 3.08 cumulative average.
[24:53] We had 370 at a 3.0 in higher.
[24:56] We had 78 at a 4.0 in higher.
[25:07] So without further ado tonight we gather to celebrate the remarkable
[25:10] achievements of our select student athletes who have probably represented
[25:14] our high school at the highest level of competition.
[25:18] Their skill and dedication have made us all incredibly proud.
[25:22] To student athletes that are here tonight being honored, your achievements have left the
[25:26] lasting mark on our school's legacy, so congratulations on your well-deserved recognition.
[25:32] At this point, I'd like to proceed with the celebration of excellence as I pass the baton
[25:36] to the glue that holds our department together, Ms. Kendra Champion McLean.
[25:45] He just made that nice comment because he's making me read the names because that makes me
[25:51] stick to a script. Otherwise I'll talk all night. Those of you who know me, you know, this is
[25:56] So, without further ado, we're going to recognize these kiddos and as a reminder, we do compete
[26:02] in one of the most challenging, competitive conferences in the state of Indiana and also
[26:07] in Marion County, extremely competitive and challenging.
[26:12] So, we're going to honor some athletes.
[26:13] We have a handful from the winter that we haven't yet had the opportunity to publicly recognize
[26:18] and then several from the spring.
[26:20] And so these are the young men and women who have stood out above and beyond, above their
[26:26] peers, not only here at Pikai School, but in our county and in our conference.
[26:31] We will start with boys and girls swimming and diving.
[26:35] And we're going to read the kiddos who are here.
[26:37] We have Sean Burnett, all conference,
[26:47] and also Marie Riley, all conference, and she's a freshman.
[27:12] Okay.
[27:13] We're going to, sorry, that's my fault.

[46:45] I'd also be remissed if I didn't recognize the board.
[46:48] We talked to not about a lot of innovative things that we're looking at.
[46:51] Put it in place because we do want our students to be successful.
[46:55] We couldn't do that if these resources were allocated by the board.
[46:59] You guys have been very supportive of that.
[47:01] So thank you to the board.
[47:03] I'm excited to have an opportunity to brag on Wednesday
[47:06] at the Youth Emerging Stronger Summit.
[47:11] And that would be up in Noblesville.
[47:13] We were, I was asked to be a panel speaker
[47:16] because of the work we've done with wellness,
[47:20] as well as being a recipient of the project,

[47:35] Cartman, who was our assistant CFO.

[47:44] head custodian at ASC who's done a great job over the years just taking care of us all
[47:49] day every day and that's Ms. Robby Mills so it'll be June 20, it'll be at 1 o'clock and
[47:55] You'll get some information from Ms. Patterford.
[47:59] And I might add to Dr. Young's comment on the conference that he was attending.
[48:04] I attended back here.
[48:07] I think it was early part of May downtown mental health conference.
[48:13] And met the same individuals who were responsible for giving pipe the grant.
[48:18] But they found out who I was, they mentioned Dr. Young and stated that out of I think several schools that apply for the grant, they like what Pike was doing and excitement that they saw with Pike and so they were happy to award us the grant.
[48:37] We'll have to ask enough, but we serve on one of their committees.
[48:42] I declined to do that, but we were grateful that Pike is still in the loop.
[48:48] So, hey, talk to someone this week, encourage them, and
[48:51] survive them.
[48:52] Your conversation might be the one that talked them off the edge.
[48:56] Living in a time where we just need good encouragement and good words.
