years behind, you know, situations that
[3:11]
was our, you know, our control. But we
had a great turnout. And the next thing
[3:17]
that we will be doing is widows and
widowers lunches. and I'll get back with
[3:22]

[3:32]
» Okay. In tonight's business, we have
resolution number three. Everybody
[3:38]
resolution.
[3:45]
Is everybody ready?
[3:52]
Be it resolved by the city council of
Trescuit, state of Arkansas, a
[3:57]
resolution entitled former private
studies, a resolution authorizing the
[4:02]
mayor or their design of Prescuit to
apply for a grant on behalf of the city
[4:08]
of Prescuit. Whereas Preser City Council
has determined that the Presto community
[4:14]
meets eligibility requirements necessary
for a grant under the Arkansas site
[4:20]
development program. And
whereas the press community has
[4:26]
presented plans to perform due diligent
studies at the former pot site.
[4:33]
And whereas city council prescript
recognizes the need for the project and
[4:39]
its importance and supports the preset
community in its efforts to proceed with
[4:45]
the same. And whereas the preset
community has furnished proof that they
[4:51]
have raised $2750
through community cash andor in kind
[4:57]
donations to be applied to the project
as a local match.
[5:02]
Be it further resolved that the city
president is hereby authorized to submit
[5:07]
an application a formal request to the
Arkansas Economic Development Commission
[5:14]
for purpose of securing state grant
funds in the amount of $52,250
[5:21]
to aid the Presby community in executing
the proposed project described here and
[5:28]
that Prescuit is further authorized to
administer the grant for the same
[5:32]
project.
[5:41]
Any discussion?
[5:51]
No discussion.
Mayor,
[5:54]
» I move we accept this resolution.
Second.
[6:04]
» All right. Austin,
>> yes.
[6:07]
» Yes.
>> Amy,
[6:09]
» yes.
>> Roberts,
[6:11]
» yes.
>> Yes.
[6:12]
» William,
>> yes.
[6:17]
» Okay. Under citizens communications, we
have no devil cards.
[6:23]
So, let's go to discussion or
announcements from the council.
[6:32]
I have on August 8th, the Presist
Education Association will be doing
[6:38]
their back to school bash at the
National Guard Armory beginning at 8:00
[6:42]
a.m.
[6:46]
Saturday.
[6:53]
We have these are we have the back to
school bed but it's so different. I mean
[6:57]
you doing great.
We did that at home playing games. We
[7:03]
have camp
[7:09]
20 or 23 of them can play one day. So
we're having that down at Greenland
[7:14]
Street
Green
[7:18]
and
bring kids out. We have this stuff for
[7:22]
kids come out
for both.
[7:32]
So we're on to on Tuesdays and bring the
kids out that type of fun.
[7:37]
Then
I mean I just going to tell got one
[7:42]
concern I guess it's time for time to
bring it up and that is do we have a
[7:48]
date on
cleaning up of the property at
[7:54]
Greenland and Maine? Do we have Can you
just give us an update on where that? I
[8:01]
haven't been involved in that one.
[8:11]
» Which Who owns that property?
>> Who owns that property?
[8:16]
» That's a lot of question. Not really
sure.
[8:25]
» Oh, is that the Maxine? Yeah, we are
working on that. We've uh been in touch
[8:30]
with the state's lawyer. Uh they say now
that they're going to sign the release
[8:35]
to um
allow the city to tear it all down.
[8:40]
We're waiting on the guy who's all has
all the junk. He started cleaning it up.
[8:45]
We're trying to get him to get the rest
of it and then uh hopefully they're a
[8:49]
good sign and everything so the city can
tear it down.
[8:52]
» Okay. Next door in burn down. There's
three three structures to tear down.
[8:59]
» I know where the structures are. It's
the burnup house and
[9:02]
» Yeah, the burnup house, the restaurant,
and
[9:04]
» used to be restaurant and in and
[9:10]
» the old
log cabin that's
[9:14]
» Yeah.
>> deteriorated is no longer
[9:16]
» Oh, there we
were working on that today. Good. Thank
[9:21]
you. Appreciate
>> it. Yeah.
[9:26]
Okay, one more thing and I wanted to
thank those who uh the mayor city police
[9:33]
all those that helped in making Fred
Thomas day what it was on. Thank y'all
[9:38]
so much.
>> That was a good day.
[9:40]
» It was
[9:43]
» It was hot.
[9:47]
» Really hot.
>> One more thing, Mayor. Um the date for
[9:52]
the uh widow and widow's lunchon is
August 19th, 12:00 at the police
[9:57]
department. And we've had a lot of
people here in our community that have
[10:02]
lost, you know, their spouses and we
want to want them to come out and and
[10:08]
let us show them some love. Okay? You
don't even want to bring them.
[10:14]
» That's on Wednesday, August 19th.
[10:18]
» Thank you. Could
[10:26]
you kind of give a explanation about the
grant that we received last Monday? I
[10:34]
» Oh, yeah. We went to Little Rock
[10:39]
with the governor brought home right at
$500,000.
[10:44]
uh the committee that did the calling to
the 64 homes that are involved. They
[10:51]
went with us and got in the picture. U
64 homes on the Wildcat Road in the new
[10:59]
town area. A lot of them have sewer
backups and this is going to stop all
[11:06]
that.
So they've [clears throat] been waiting
[11:09]
several years as we prioritize the
grants and now it's their turn. So
[11:15]
that's going to be big.
Glad this one is really going to take
[11:20]
place.
>> That's why money going to go to the
[11:23]
grand.
>> Yes.
[11:26]
499,000
[11:31]
brother.
[11:36]
I don't know. I think we probably need
to be prepared as a city. Uh they there
[11:43]
I've never known a project to come in on
the budget or on budget. So I think we
[11:49]
need to think about
we probably going to have to put
[11:53]
something to make sure the project is
completed.
[11:56]
» That happens a lot.
>> Yeah. So we need to think about that.
[12:01]
But $500,000 is a rock toward that. One
of the worst needs in the town. People
[12:08]
sew back up in the shower.
We get that fixed. We'll be good.
[12:19]
» Anybody get anything else?
>> I I have one other thing to mention.
[12:26]
You know, we had process with the
drainage. So on that third,
[12:32]
fourth, you know, we had that big rain
and you know, sometime I I think we we
[12:40]
we don't realize that you can have a
flash flood and and you you can have a
[12:45]
nice drainage situation, but a flash
flood going to eliminate your your your
[12:51]
ditch problems. So I I want to make sure
people understand that the ditch is
[12:57]
normal rain, it takes care of the
problem, but we have so much water if
[13:03]
the ditches was overflowing.
And I ain't never seen them do that
[13:07]
before. I mean from the far down water
cross the road. I mean Yeah. But that
[13:15]
was a classic. I mean you can't I mean
you can't get around cuz you don't know
[13:20]
when it's going to be. You can't. So I I
just think our citizens need to realize
[13:26]
that the drainage is working, but if you
have a flash flood,
[13:31]
you're not going to be able to hold all
that water.
[13:35]
I just want to make sure that that's
understood. Well, that not that's not
[13:40]
just a pressing problem, but just
obvious
[13:54]
really really [clears throat]
[13:58]
» Yeah, that's a good point because you
can turn on the TV and there's cities
[14:02]
with lots and lots of money and lots and
lots of good drainage. When that flash
[14:06]
flood comes, the flooding they just
can't handle
[14:10]
» too much at one time.
[14:15]
» Okay. Anybody anything else?
>> Are we under?
[14:20]
» Not that I've heard. the county judge
has said, but I haven't heard.
[14:26]
» It's been so hot,
you know, and I've been noticing the
[14:30]
fire having
[14:35]
the fire.
[14:47]
Anything else? I would just like to uh
thank uh
[14:53]
the city for allowing us to attend the
Arkansas Municipal League last month. I
[15:00]
think it was one of I've heard some
people say it's one of the best ones
[15:04]
they attended. We learned a lot. We were
on time on point and everything that was
[15:10]
going on and up to date and the
networking that we did. We want to thank
[15:14]
uh the city for allowing us to attend.
It was a well organized
[15:27]
» and thanks for getting all
[15:33]
this [laughter] time.
>> Right on in there.
[15:39]
I'll get it. Y
>> keeps me on the fifth and sixth floor
[15:44]
since I don't like heights and I don't
want to be on
[15:49]
me where I need to be.
>> Yeah.
[15:51]
» All right. Anybody anything else?
[16:02]
You guys were
