[1:33] to and reimburse them upon successful completion. I've seen that happen in a

[4:29] » The the branch board of the YMCA and Rose met on March 5th. uh YMCA project

[4:36] is uh they received temporary oxy from Jackson Township to allow uh for

[4:42] delivery of shipped items and furniture setup within the building. Uh the

[4:45] remaining of the site work is pending coordination with first capital

[4:48] engineering uh which they have coordinated some CAD drawings and I

[4:53] think they're going to start within the next 10 days, two weeks uh to get that

[4:58] May 1st uh date is not realistic anymore. It's going to be later on in

[5:02] May, beginning of June to for the for the opening. Um they had an echo grant

[5:07] res recognition on March 11th. Press conference was held. Um that stands for

[5:13] every child has opportunities. All three county commissioners were there

[5:17] including uh and also Senator Kate Clunk. Upcoming events uh food truck

[5:23] event April 24th at Little Creek Park and give local York is going to get

[5:28] kicked off May 1st. Um the Springrove Rex and Parks dissolution um is in the

[5:34] final stages and is currently is uh is being handled by legal counsel. That

[5:40] next meeting is scheduled for May 19th for the board of the YMCA Roses.

[5:46] Playground committee met on uh the 23rd of March down here at 11:00. Um it was

[5:55] reported that a a swing was removed from the layout based on space um that we had

[6:03] to work with in inside the uh the playground area. Um we're we're close to

[6:09] determining what the budget is so we can move forward with grant writing. Um

[6:14] working with uh York County. We're hoping to have a maintenance agreement

[6:19] in front of council um next next meeting in May.

[6:24] Um, we're also working with some fundraiser fundraising goals and working

[6:31] with social media under the direction of Kate Clunk and with the help of Jessica

[6:36] with this on putting on social media and our next playground meeting is the 20th

[6:41] of this month month at 11 o'clock which I hope that we have more to report on um

[6:47] on direction of way the grants are going next month.

[7:58] I guess well, two things. Um, I guess that would have been two weeks ago now,

[8:03] two Thursdays ago, me and Cheryl attended the York County Birth

[8:06] Association quarterly meeting. um representatives from the SPCA were there

[8:11] and gave gave a pretty lengthy presentation about animal services in

[8:16] Pennsylvania and the Commonwealth. How you know some how of course it is so

[8:23] it's different than 49 other states. Um animal control in Pennsylvania is not a

[8:29] government regulated um service. All the rest of the 49

[8:33] states, the government kind of handles it. So York County um is,

[8:41] you know, actually lucky on what we have. A lot of places around the country

[8:48] come to York County to see what is working. They consider themselves a no

[8:52] kill shelter. Um what they base that on is a percentage of basically live

[8:59] animals in, live animals out. And to be considered a no kill shelter, they have

[9:04] to be 90% above and above. Um they typically run from I guess about 2017

[9:14] they were only at 50%. So in the last within the last 8 to 10

[9:19] years they've got that number up to over n I believe the last percentage was 2024

[9:25] it's believe was 92.8% % animals in animals are live going out. Now, a lot

[9:31] of that has to do with um you know the tag tag neuter released. Um you know

[9:38] with the cat population um you know again I thought a lot more was going to

[9:44] be brought up about burrows funding the SPCA but that is

[9:50] still kind of a lot of that is rumored. you know, I think if the county decides

[9:56] to start giving them money, yes, you'll see, you know, burrows having to pay

[10:00] that. Um, but overall, I thought it was very, I mean, well presented. Um,

[10:09] you know, um, they also, I mean, I think another big thing with their lowcost

[10:17] neuter and spay program, I believe their lead veterinarian that

[10:22] takes care of that. um was recognized I guess that was last year

[10:27] » I think so >> of doing um she did over 13,000 spay or

[10:33] neuters in a year and the most in most I guess um she won what they call a uh

[10:42] what was this >> was it a snip or

[10:44] » snippy award a snippy award it's um basically

[10:48] animal rescues and um SPCA awards that they have for different

[10:55] things all across the country. So, she was recognized as being, you know, um

[11:01] the one that did the most in one year. And I mean, if you think about that, you

[11:05] know, five days out of five days, that's a lot of animals in on on and off our

[11:13] table, you know. Um, you know, I think another thing is they've hired a a now a

[11:20] animal control um police officer that hopefully they'll start in the next six

[11:25] weeks that you know we'll be able to enforce animal you know cruelty law um

[11:32] for the county. Now it's only one person but you know those kind of things are a

[11:36] big help. The the county was going has gone almost about a year without one.

[11:43] Um, so they're really happy to get that back and hopefully, you know, as

[11:47] problems come about, you know, that person will investigate th those type

[11:52] things. Um, the other thing, um, I did talk to, uh, York County Commissioner

[12:00] Buford and invited him to our either it was either this meeting or the main

[12:05] meeting. Um, and he accepted the invitation. Him and the county engineer

[12:10] will be here at the main meeting to kind of any questions with the um the

[12:17] truck overhead thing? You know, there you know, I I mentioned how a lot of

[12:22] burough council was kind of I won't say upset, but they were you know, the

[12:27] transparency was not there. Um you know, we kind of have not there's a lot of

[12:33] questions that weren't answered. So again, um please spread that around. You

[12:39] know, you know, it's our time to answer ask those questions. If any burough

[12:44] residents have questions, please let us know so we can bring them to our their

[12:50] attention if not answered. Um, other than that, I have nothing else.

[12:56] » Just to piggy back on what Doug said, I found it interesting that uh the

[13:01] gentleman said that the burrows and townships through what we pay to the

[13:07] SPCA is a small amount. And then he's And and

[13:11] I'm thinking, well, how do they do all this? He said, because they have a $5

[13:15] million budget, but they only get like 6% from from us. And he said, well,

[13:22] through our fundraising. So, every time somebody makes a donation to the SPCA,

[13:28] it's going towards that $5 million, which is how they actually keep in

[13:33] business. And I said, "Well, what about all this information that I've been

[13:37] hearing that the county commissioners might fund this? You know, I thought

[13:42] maybe you would be talking about that." And he said they laid the groundwork

[13:46] that they did go to the commissioners meeting and they talked about having the

[13:51] county fund uh their program and that they they were very

[13:59] acceptable of the whole thing and thought it was a good idea, but they

[14:02] didn't give any money. But he thought they'd at least laid the groundwork that

[14:07] when they come back this year and maybe in the next year that they might get a

[14:12] little further ahead than they did. So hopefully it's coming in the future that

[14:18] the county will be paying for this, but otherwise until then it's us doing our

[14:24] 6% and the $5 million coming from donors in your county. Thought that was

[14:31] interesting. Thank you. All right. Leans are still

[14:56] out there on Facebook that on Wednesday morning, uh, Maple Street will be closed

[15:01] between South Street and 6:16. Uh, the county and that's only between 7 and 12.

[15:08] Uh, the county is going to be coming in, they have a contractor coming in to

[15:11] replace the the the guard rails on the white bridge back there.

[15:31] mention that I'm sure everybody saw over the weekend that the that the rods and

[15:35] the kids are out and everybody's fishing and just to

[15:40] let people know where where the state does this creek. We're fortunate this

[15:46] creek's been stocked for almost 40 years. And on the 14th or on the 13th of

[15:53] April, they will be doing Centerville to Laroo.

[15:57] Everybody probably knows where that area is at. Um that section is open to

[16:03] fishing year round. And May 5th, the Tuesday next month, they'll do Maple

[16:10] Street to the fire hall again. That'll be the last stocking for the the state.

[16:16] Between that, the Isaac Walton League and Hopewell Fishing Game also puts fish

[16:22] in there. So, um, if you know anybody that owns land along this creek and

[16:29] where they fish, be on their good side because it's it's

[16:34] really getting delicate with people posting their property and the state has

[16:38] to have a certain amount of land and creek open for them to stock. And the

[16:45] upper section especially is getting all broken up with land owners.

[16:50] That's really in jeopardy of losing fish. So down here we're okay yet, but

[16:55] um just putting it out there. No one is talking.
