[0:00]
That's what I'm talking about.
[0:04]
Yeah, you can't be.
[0:10]
Thank y'all.
[0:12]
Well, it's time for all the solid meditation, public
[0:26]
comment.
[0:31]
Next slide, there's the approval of the agenda.
[0:34]
Motion to approve, so move. Second.
[0:48]
The next is the approval of the minutes of the March 22nd, the approval
[0:57]
of minutes, all
[0:58]
the members of the eye.
[1:03]
The
[1:05]
next is the unfinished business.
[1:07]
The next is the approval of the projects.
[1:18]
Thanks for starting to come back to life around the parish, and that includes construction.
[1:27]
As you know, we've been forward with our downtown roofing project.
[1:33]
Susan can give you more detail.
[1:35]
As of right now, the planter's cabinet was selected by the board to oversee the roofing project
[1:42]
and is currently working to secure some of the bond.
[1:46]
Those clay tiles are, they secure some that are close to matching.
[1:52]
We should be able to do a close match, where it's working with one of the local, or local
[2:01]
those in this area, the title manufacturers.
[2:05]
And so we should be there, he's somewhat about a close match.
[2:10]
The other problem with the grouping project is at this point trying to figure out how you
[2:17]
update the asbestos that's in the bottom.
[2:21]
We were very lucky and then there was no asbestos underneath the plate tiles.
[2:26]
So that will simplify the project just a little bit.
[2:30]
There's no asbestos underneath the flatwood.
[2:34]
And so we'll have to sit here and debate that.
[2:37]
That requires a little bit more caution and being charitable.
[2:43]
What is it that you're scavenging up?
[2:45]
We're moving stuff that makes you have to do it bit by bit.
[2:49]
And Susan, not really sitting here, I thought she stepped in.
[2:54]
But she could sit here and tell you that there's a certain criteria
[2:57]
they've got to make sure that that's done.
[2:59]
So we are working on that.
[3:01]
We are about step three into our writing a rocket we have never agreement with Southern University.
[3:11]
We've had preliminary meetings with Dr. Alford who is moving to street board to take over the they call it OCIS.
[3:25]
and it's off campus instructional, something almost guided.
[3:31]
They're off campus as the important part.
[3:34]
So she did actually move in here to oversee it
[3:37]
and then we'll run the law school here.
[3:42]
We still have a few things we're discussing,
[3:44]
but everything went down to the road smoothly after an event.
[3:49]
And we have another meeting tomorrow afternoon
[3:53]
where we will polish up our CDA.
[3:57]
We're probably not going to give anything away other than
[4:01]
some furniture on the third or fourth floors.
[4:04]
We've worked out security details.
[4:07]
They've got their own security issues.
[4:09]
They want to worry about this.
[4:11]
That's okay with us.
[4:13]
There's ample space in that building run
[4:15]
and operate two different Wi-Fi units
[4:20]
and two different
[4:26]
I'm not trying to say why I'm trying to come in there.
[4:32]
Why in population?
[4:36]
Byber?
[4:36]
By that store I'm trying to think of.
[4:39]
We've got to keep byber lines coming in there so they'll have their own set of the fiber.
[4:43]
And we're looking at things like security issues as far as whether we want to share cameras or not.
[4:50]
We had to be almost done to the conclusion to be better off if we don't.
[4:56]
So there are lots of little details that you just don't think need to be discussed.
[5:02]
So that's what we're doing there.
[5:05]
Danelle Wrightson, who I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with, she helped us with the
[5:11]
planning for a C.I.E. and she also helped in the 90s when we did all the construction on
[5:18]
all the new branches. She's going to help us on our remodeling. I tell you that the Southern
[5:26]
University's already done an amazing job with their preliminary architect or plans for
[5:33]
what they're planning on doing with the third or fourth. We do have copies of that. I can
[5:38]
share with you if you'd like to look at it. And one of the things, yes, before someone asks,
[5:44]
One of the things we are negotiating is the library remains, or have it, or keeps the rights to approve of any changes.
[5:57]
And they all have to be done within the historical context of the building that we've got.
[6:02]
We've got this way in our ear, making sure that everything can be done properly so that the building doesn't lose any historical value.
[6:09]
I got an opportunity last week to meet with Amy Grapp in the present enterprises and why this was quite marvelous in its timing is that we were looking at all the furniture we have in the downtown branch and it's wonderful, beautiful, four-year-old hardcore wood furniture.
[6:36]
And I don't know if you've looked at a lot of the newer libraries in the park furniture
[6:42]
they use, but it's kind of like this stuff, you know, it looks nice, it works, but it's
[6:48]
not that old-fashioned furniture, wood furniture, so Kristen Enterprises will pick it up, we've
[6:56]
finished all that, and delivered the back, there are places, the only place I know where
[7:03]
Where they've done work, the inside tab of Paris is for the Tatto prison free and free
[7:12]
program, the Susan O. that's located on Kings to South Vernon's restaurant, and they've
[7:22]
done some work within there and they've also done some work within the school.
[7:25]
And they've done some work on more embodies or I can give you any details that it was
[7:30]
a historical, a different project and very, very successful phone.
[7:34]
Well, they, when they brought us to the proposal to
[7:38]
bring goal consortium meeting, the one they specifically
[7:42]
did for us as part of their active catalog had just
[7:46]
all the different libraries they've done in the state.
[7:51]
And the best thing about all this is that they're already on
[7:54]
state contract, so they're already entering the
[7:58]
in the system and they take it up and deliver it.
[8:03]
So those were our data centers, right there.
[8:07]
And so they've solved that problem for us.
[8:09]
They also do with working.
[8:11]
They will create guests and they've got,
[8:14]
I mean, from scratch, we have a brand name
[8:16]
with service guests, got it done for the second quarter.
[8:21]
Lots of great stuff there.
[8:23]
where else? We hired a collection development consultant, we've been having very
[8:31]
impressed in conversations in our acquisitions department and with our
[8:35]
staff on what constitutes a 20th century reference collection. And thing
[8:48]
you
[8:48]
want to believe me, that's okay, and they're entitled to their kinship. My
[8:52]
a record staff have been quite used to using certain tools that are up in and out of sleep.
[8:59]
And we'll bring in somebody from the outside and let the more of you to think for a while.
[9:04]
Is with the car kind of on?
[9:08]
I mean, you didn't say that live on the camera, didn't you?
[9:12]
Anyway, buddy.
[9:14]
Yes.
[9:17]
We're here for my problem.
[9:20]
We're trying to squeeze in on three-fourths of collections to fit on two floors, and I'm
[9:26]
I'm not gonna give up fiction, I'm gonna give up children's materials, I'm gonna give up young adult and there are special collections we have that we cannot do it.
[9:38]
We've at least come to an agreement where the third floor, the law collection will stay there and be taken over by something university they will add and scan to it but before we have what made it appealing to them to work with us because that will remain ours, it will remain open to the public.
[9:57]
Any time the library is, they can just move on up from our first and second floor, they need the law library, they can go right into the third floor and use other universities.
[10:07]
Slash, SMS, law library collection, so that works with us.
[10:12]
What we have though is I have like some of our librarians here know about the reuse guide's periodicals, we're familiar with that.
[10:22]
We have all of them.
[10:27]
They created this thing called its internet. Back in the 1980s,
[10:31]
you might remember it and there are better reader guides. Now I can make a good argument
[10:36]
for keeping all the reader's guides from the beginning to 1985 because a lot of those
[10:42]
materials have not been indexed and put on the internet, so that's a good thing to keep
[10:47]
we might keep those, but everything, like 1994, we re-invest our money and we think about
[10:57]
those resources and how we better sit here and put them to better use. And so, therefore,
[11:02]
we're bringing in Judith. I'm Judith, my entire professional career. She's a working collection
[11:07]
development way and the other. We're over 40 years from New York Public and produced some public
[11:14]
library to work for the county system there's called Allen which provides basically the
[11:22]
surcy dynamics and all the data bases. So there's anybody I trust to do an actual assessment
[11:29]
of our collections in spur. What else have we got going on? Oh yeah, you've got to sit here
[11:34]
and prove three new grants for our time branches. If you haven't been out to see
[11:44]
I recommend you just go take a drive and go see the newly expanded twice the size it was all the wonderful LED lighting in there.
[11:56]
It just makes for it. You wouldn't believe it is not the same library.
[12:01]
So we're hoping that I know what Belcher's got planned with theirs or some audience that not necessarily are,
[12:10]
cars, they got some insurance for parking places that got over.
[12:16]
Greenwood Hidden Bottom is paint, it's carpet, it's this, it's new bathroom furnishings and
[12:23]
all that good stuff.
[12:26]
And I don't remember the third old morning sport, that basically they're doing everything,
[12:31]
the stripping and building down and putting it back together and being the morning sport.
[12:36]
It needs it from wet
[12:44]
doors
[12:47]
you can see underneath, so more important needs to help, and they're going to use the entire grant to fix up the building.
[12:55]
That's not where we are with that.
[12:58]
Unless the board objects, I'm going to go ahead and combine Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the downtown branch to change that up a little bit
[13:07]
because our basement flooding situation keeps getting more
[13:13]
interesting by the day, so we're going to make a base to now,
[13:18]
hiring an engineer and seeing if we can stop the various water leaks.
[13:24]
Well, ours is nowhere near to pass some of the other downtown Texas Avenue buildings.
[13:30]
Their basements are just horrible trying to keep water out of those interesting
[13:36]
and ours, we keep discovering new and interesting things we've never known about.
[13:43]
Who knew our HBAC?
[13:48]
We went down 23 feet underneath the street to where it did be clogged up during.
[13:56]
So we discovered that a couple of months ago.
[13:59]
We just discovered this weekend some interesting plumbing that's underneath
[14:04]
they still play in the bat form, turns out there's 100-year-old pipes underneath you.
[14:11]
We have no idea what they do. We didn't even know they were there until this weekend,
[14:15]
and the water was coming up out of themselves. Always something new with that, Bill.
[14:20]
That's where we are. I can entertain questions.
[14:28]
Yeah, thanks to the reminder of downtown, you don't have security. I know some of them
[14:35]
I mean, we still want to have open, so out public, first and second, so you talk about security
[14:45]
and you want that settlement and on that own security.
[14:48]
Southern is the first discussion that started was security cameras.
[14:55]
as you guys know we got scared cameras all over.
[15:00]
Because of the Freedom of Information Act, video is considered a record, and it can't be requested to the freedom of information. So we shared that information. We saw that it was at that time they decided perhaps they don't want our freedom of information records co-ingled with theirs. So that's when we decided that changing up and letting them provide their home security cameras on the 3rd, 4th, 4th,
[15:29]
would be better. And it helps from our point of view also because Kathy will tell you
[15:36]
when she gets a brief information request for that. And when you get a subpoena, it
[15:42]
doesn't matter if you have to hand it over. So the other thing that security regarding
[15:48]
that is like janitors,
[15:54]
whether or not they want our cleaning crew to clean their offices.
[15:58]
They said, you know, that's a good point, maybe we don't want your janitorial services and they review that so there's that.
[16:07]
They were looking at wanting to add an additional security guard, which I have no problems with that.
[16:15]
If that's, you know, we've got what we can afford to put there.
[16:19]
And we're actually looking at taking all those cameras from the third or fourth floor.
[16:25]
and reusing them on the second first floor because the way we're doing, we'll have to do it a lot of the allowed folks that are currently classrooms per busy will now be steps and those are not line of sight where you can sit in a service desk and see if we'll be putting cameras all over that floor to provide steps and they can sit in a service desk and look at a monitor and be able to see every corner on the side.
[16:55]
second first floor. But it would be interesting, you know, Southern, and also have some of
[17:02]
its own computer security issues. And so that's why they want to bring in their own fiber
[17:08]
line, and they want to have their own Wi-Fi. We have no problems with that. So, that's the one
[17:17]
place that we've actually had to really work, all the other decisions in such that that
[17:22]
nature have been really easy.
[17:24]
Green that's a lot of illegal stuff dealing with a long problem.
[17:29]
And I kind of say that they've been teaching and having a time
[17:33]
company, saying that they've been all that,
[17:35]
so I can see that what I'm saying.
[17:37]
So we're trying to keep what needs to be separate,
[17:40]
separate, and then with those things that we can work
[17:43]
together on, we're doing that.
[17:45]
It's just like we're figuring out since we pay a stipend on a regular
[17:50]
basis for utilities and maintenance and stuff that where we rent buildings, they're talking
[17:56]
to us about helping us with that so that's good. My understanding I have to talk to Dr. Wilson
[18:01]
again but I think it's just going to be a $1.99 year lease so we're going to have those two
[18:08]
fours. But this time we're going to be very careful. We are fully aware of the media's attention
[18:17]
attention to this and what your paying attention to,
[18:20]
want to make sure the tax fairs are getting their proper
[18:24]
due for their tax dollars.
[18:27]
And, you know, it's just being careful to make sure we're
[18:31]
doing our due diligence and everybody is happy at the end.
[18:38]
No, that's more than you want to do.
[18:42]
You heard the question and comments.
[18:44]
You're on.
[18:46]
Thank you.
[18:47]
Thank you Mr. Trouble.
[18:49]
We're six of new business right now.
[18:52]
We have four.
[18:53]
Four, two, one, two.
[18:55]
Me?
[18:55]
Okay.
[19:00]
Okay.
[19:00]
Okay.
[19:01]
We bet on a special meeting on May 17, at 1030.
[19:07]
And all of our care people here, you get everything.
[19:10]
me and what we decided was to present in their own view of the proposed media employing
[19:17]
a increase, and we remember also just to really and go with just how to be able to expect
[19:25]
nine employees to set a team that chance and cause an increase, one team for more development,
[19:31]
they were going to do something extra for them.
[19:33]
So, the board, this is their recommendation to you.
[19:38]
Junior Moon has written second.
[19:40]
The most important rule would recommend the proposal to the board.
[19:44]
The proposal can sit on a mid-year system wide.
[19:47]
Employee pay increase of 56 per hour beginning to last second,
[19:52]
the 21.
[19:53]
And at issue 20, I said for hours of non-support employees
[19:57]
who continue to perform their duty during the month.
[20:00]
The library says to sit down beginning of the pandemic.
[20:04]
And the most of us pay is the negative impact out of it now.
[20:09]
And we like to bring that motion to you now to the moment.
[20:14]
Sorry to be having a question.
[20:21]
This is you mean since we did this mid-year,
[20:25]
most pay raises go from personnel to finance.
[20:28]
And then finance those are to the board.
[20:31]
So I don't care how you wish to do it.
[20:35]
So you.
[20:41]
So why are you asking for it?
[20:43]
Yeah, you're asking for it.
[20:44]
So why are you asking for it?
[20:45]
Which one would you like to...
[20:46]
Thanks for your work.
[20:48]
But that has to be an impact.
[20:50]
To that, we have one priority.
[20:54]
Loading to improve the recommendation
[20:56]
to take that out which may help me
[20:58]
a small current movement.
[21:01]
To a way set.
[21:03]
So much momentum, motion care.
[21:05]
I don't know if the recommendation may be that.
[21:07]
First of all, please.
[21:12]
Okay, of course you have a committee, you can have the finance committee approve of this
[21:19]
proposed planning grace for employees.
[21:22]
There are no questions that I would kind of end the question to a group.
[21:27]
So move.
[21:29]
I'll say that, sir.
[21:30]
There's the move in the second, and we approve the proposed planning grace,
[21:50]
on Monday, May 17th, and Mr. Total, worked us through two policies that the staff will
[21:58]
find staff with the personal appearance code in the patron condom policy. After reviewing
[22:06]
discussion being approved for those policies as they have been revised, and we have not been
[22:13]
into before for Brooklyn.
[22:23]
Any question about the policies or the conversation that
[22:29]
they have?
[23:03]
I would just like to add, while we're continuing through with all the board through policies,
[23:13]
If there is one in particular or do I first look at that, please shoot me in the email, let me know, or kind of
[23:22]
Balancing things out, trying to make a priority for which one you think would be best to go through next.
[23:28]
Any suggestions for help at this time?
[23:33]
Next item is under your business, or the grant application is for the one kind of right.
[23:43]
I'm just going to say that other than a typo and the mortgage port grant where they ask
[23:52]
for $100,000 and then total it down to $100.
[23:55]
My better action G-roads for them is they're going to be very shocked when we get the $100
[24:00]
check.
[24:02]
But we can overcome that typo.
[24:08]
I've read over deltures and Hig and Bottoms with a good eye and I think they will pass Jim.
[24:17]
Jim is our gatekeeper over here for all the grant money.
[24:22]
And so, if there needs to be a minor change, I don't think I saw anything,
[24:28]
but if there needs to be a minor change in something we could do, that's okay.
[24:32]
We're still going to hand in the money, let them go through with the guidelines to make sure
[24:38]
they do everything they're supposed to do and then any money left over they will just give it right back to us.
[24:44]
I can tell you at this point when you're spending every dime, I was impressed.
[24:51]
I suspect other places are going to spend every dime.
[24:59]
OK, I'm going to take a ride, and there's a total of 147 pounds, right?
[25:07]
OK, what happens if they just get a whole hundred pounds?
[25:11]
We lose that or what?
[25:15]
Yeah, that's it.
[25:17]
You don't spend it, you have to get it back.
[25:19]
But I talk to your folks.
[25:22]
They will spend it.
[25:22]
We don't, yeah.
[25:23]
They don't call me.
[25:28]
They got $147 for their budget which tell me that they've already done some great work
[25:35]
and they've also looked at, there is a American Rescue Plan money that's out there and
[25:43]
whether or not that's what they're tipping in to, and I know they've talked with the Public
[25:50]
service commission and they've got money for their L.A.D. and back most of our town and
[25:56]
villages are taking advantage of that and we're seeing lights being replaced throughout the
[26:02]
parish so that's that's good but I promise to die I'm not they have to give it back and I'm not
[26:08]
going to take away from it. I'm writing it up where we don't get it together. That's all.
[26:15]
So in the event that the grant funds are not expended, they come back to us, the library
[26:22]
do be the library, they have to give them back to the grant board, or they'll be over
[26:26]
until the next day.
[26:29]
They have probably another year and a half or almost two years suspended, so we're not,
[26:39]
Yeah, all the total dollar fund they're available through the entire cycle so if they get back and they need it again and you're out
[26:47]
We would have a problem they just submit a new grant
[26:50]
So at the end of the grant cycle, yeah, at the end of the grant cycle if they are unexplained funds do we hold on to those who do we have to?
[27:00]
They go back in the fund balance or the operating reserve
[27:05]
as the accounting scholar.
[27:08]
So on simple approaches, we maintain those dollars.
[27:12]
Yes.
[27:13]
OK, we don't lose the money.
[27:15]
We're not losing the money, that's ours.
[27:18]
And what we do is we hold on to that.
[27:22]
We've got to keep those people who are not familiar
[27:24]
with how our budgeting works.
[27:26]
We are asked by the parish to keep depending on who you talk to, which here it is.
[27:37]
Anywhere between $75,000 to $100,000 of our annual expense in an operating reserve
[27:46]
to prevent us from having to do what they call.
[27:50]
I enter in financing which means we borrow money until we get the taxes to operate on for a year and when we get paid and we pay it back which is kind of a strange cycle.
[28:05]
I understand why they ask that saves us the headaches of having to sit here paying interest for operating for a year.
[28:15]
And we're actually earning some interest, it's not much, I don't have to tell you if you've got a savings account out there, if you're getting a full percent, tell me which bank you're at, so I can join you.
[28:30]
But we keep it there, we will continue looking to know in so many ways I like to spend that money and capital improvements.
[28:42]
And you guys have done enough budget adjustments when the things like elevators go crazy or a roof needs fixing the work.
[28:56]
I will warn you that our insurance has changed.
[29:01]
Most of you may have had the same discussion with your homeowner's insurance since we are having more and more hail storms in our area.
[29:10]
But they're not as likely to cover that in the near future.
[29:15]
In fact, we've been told that our deductible on hail damage has gone up substantially
[29:22]
to the point where we'll probably have to just do our own repairs for hail storms.
[29:30]
So, Susan came directly if I'm wrong on that, but I do seem to remember that that was
[29:35]
The big shock of our latest insurance is because they have improved damage,
[29:42]
hailed damages, quite substantial, and therefore the bad fall on that went up a little bit
[29:47]
so substantially on it.
[29:51]
Nothing that, from what I understand, is unusual, the insurance industry this time, more of
[29:58]
that.
[29:58]
So back to my understanding.
[30:00]
If you see more and more interesting climate changes, we may see different types of insures. I feel
[30:08]
really sorry for those folks who live on the coast.
[30:13]
My brother hasn't been able to get insurance
[30:16]
on anything. You can go for a club within half a mile of each. Just think they won't do it any more.
[30:24]
You know, it's going to get in that way, I suspect, but here's one little indication that it's going to be bad for us if they have a form.
[30:34]
It's
[30:37]
a prosecutor's business.
[30:39]
Any questions or comments?
[30:42]
Are you on individual motions?
[30:44]
I think you can do them all three at once.
[30:46]
I think I'm going to be able to be a motion to approve the grant application for the
[30:51]
Velcro.
[30:51]
I suggest you give it all to the time, just a clarity.
[30:59]
One of the time?
[31:00]
Yeah, I was strong.
[31:02]
There you go.
[31:03]
One at a time.
[31:04]
Okay.
[31:04]
Let's have a grant come in a motion to approve Velcro's grant application.
[31:08]
Is that made?
[31:10]
Second.
[31:11]
You have to approve the second.
[31:12]
I'll give it all to the members.
[31:12]
All right.
[31:13]
All right.
[31:14]
Good.
[31:15]
Um, my question's for the head and bottom.
[31:19]
I'm on the way except it ran out of things.
[31:20]
I think about it.
[31:21]
That's it.
[31:23]
It's like a round of the second, I'll first round it.
[31:26]
Uh huh.
[31:27]
It's really, it's really, really good for the morns for them.
[31:31]
So when?
[31:32]
Second.
[31:34]
It's really good for the morns for the head.
[31:35]
It's like a round of the second, it'll be great.
[31:36]
I'll try to say hi.
[31:37]
Alright.
[31:57]
I think that the only two bridge we have that are actually named out is the ball head
[32:06]
Okay, next on the agenda of the reports,
[32:09]
voices of directors.
[32:11]
Oh, my.
[32:13]
Thanks, Patrick, and picking up.
[32:17]
Kathy, Kathy was giving me our time in the other days.
[32:20]
And John, you've got way too many meetings.
[32:24]
Opps, anyone?
[32:25]
Don't want to be.
[32:26]
Anyway, let's keep you, or at least,
[32:30]
you've got my report.
[32:32]
So I'll just hit some highlights.
[32:33]
As we were discussing prior to the meeting, the Governor and the Mayor have kind of sort of hinted on how you interpret some of the words that you used.
[32:46]
We may or may not have the wear mask in the near future. We're going to sit down tomorrow and discuss that.
[32:53]
It's very interesting.
[32:55]
of bureaucraties, always fun language to try and interpret.
[33:03]
We are working with the registrar voters, we're trying to find a new early voting location,
[33:10]
and based on the criteria they need, it has been suggested by the parish commissioners
[33:21]
that Hamilton South Cato, right down the road here would make an excellent early bogey site.
[33:29]
It does create a few little headaches for us, but nothing that we can't overcome.
[33:36]
So we are moving forward with that.
[33:39]
We still have quite a few hoops that jump through with the state, so at this time it is tentative
[33:46]
until the state says of the work we're planning on doing walkthroughs with the
[33:55]
registrar sometime in the week or two. Let's see what else we've done.
[34:00]
Sideboard has a very interesting exhibit and competition going on this summer.
[34:06]
It's called Game Board and we're actually talking eSports. Who knew that my
[34:14]
experience playing pong back in the 1970s, but actually lend itself to eSports in the
[34:25]
21st century. Don's not going to be like, I don't know what I'm talking about.
[34:28]
You've heard it for a night? You've heard it for a night, a league of, I know it's considered
[34:33]
a sport. Oh well, I'm not going to let you step into that one. I've really decided for it
[34:40]
Not only they get this for it but they're working with the schools to provide sports all summer long and our part of the grant is to provide education on how to develop games through software to will be taking the making go out about the summer and teaching coding to five to ten euros.
[35:04]
So, you can even teach coding to someone that doesn't want to read now using a cover.
[35:10]
So, we're going to have to fund that in the summer.
[35:13]
I thought that was a very fun thing to come up with.
[35:17]
We, but we, but decided, oh my thanks just keep getting more interesting and more interesting.
[35:23]
We do our children's book festival.
[35:26]
You see on the Saturday during children's book week, which is usually the first week in May.
[35:33]
Those pesky schools changed their third grade testing period, so now we have to have art
[35:41]
break in the Children's Book Festival. All of the same week. Oh my staff is going to be upset
[35:48]
with me. There will be so many places, but that's okay. We're still moving forward with that.
[35:54]
That you'll be happy to know that the SNL Foundation has secured the promise of a $25,000
[36:04]
donation to help bring sympathy back to art break next year in 2002.
[36:10]
They will be doing bill choices, belief and the good bugs.
[36:16]
The same what it is.
[36:18]
I believe in the great good bugs.
[36:21]
It's not the great bugs.
[36:22]
So, what we're doing that, we have been talking right now, UVH, back to oppression systems
[36:31]
are all raised.
[36:32]
You know, we back then have been available for well over a decade, and price seems to
[36:39]
be coming down a little bit, and so we're moving forward with that, and we think we can get
[36:43]
some of the $40 million in American rescue of planned dollars in the Paris and City will
[36:51]
be getting and we only need about a hundred thousand dollars each at most of our buildings
[36:57]
and we have discovered some smaller ones that actually will replace a standard 2 by 4 lighting
[37:08]
unit and have an HVAC filtration system in it for our smaller part time branches so we've
[37:15]
We've got ways to do that, both the larger and the smaller branches we will be who have
[37:22]
to be of deal pressure for the future.
[37:26]
Let's see, bring gold.
[37:28]
You'll get to see a brand new public library campaign.
[37:34]
Bring gold is doing with KTBS.
[37:36]
If you want to KTBS, take a, you see us, we should be in there.
[37:43]
and
[37:46]
teach you into this coalition
[37:51]
for schools out from library broadband coalition
[37:55]
who wants to help us with our wide area of Wi-Fi.
[37:59]
You can know there are plans in the near future
[38:02]
for some American rescue plan monies
[38:05]
that are out there to help with broadband expansion.
[38:10]
We are working with the big problems
[38:15]
themselves, Shelby, SHLB, that's Shelby, that's what they call their active, in any way.
[38:19]
We're working with them, they can help us secure some of those bonds.
[38:23]
Key Pants in the city is currently trying to get a test pilot going at one of the recreation
[38:32]
centers.
[38:33]
Of course, as with everything right now, everybody's gearing up to get busy again.
[38:39]
There's a slight little thing called inflation that happens when the demand goes up and
[38:44]
and probably it's not there.
[38:46]
And right now we're seeing prices on everything go up.
[38:49]
If you're trying to buy a new home or build a new home,
[38:53]
I wouldn't suggest it this time.
[38:55]
I paid $15 a piece for the Cedar fence plants the other day.
[39:02]
Yeah, I saw your eyelids go like that.
[39:04]
Two years ago, they were $3.95 each, in any way.
[39:08]
We've also partnered with the launch network.
[39:11]
This makes me happy, if you've read Beyonce's report,
[39:15]
you'll see there's a little bit more detail.
[39:18]
It's a coalition.
[39:20]
This has started about two years ago with the EAD,
[39:25]
which is the honorio, accelerated program,
[39:30]
with the Biomedical Research Foundation.
[39:33]
They had somebody in there and it didn't quite do that they wanted,
[39:37]
so they just re-bamped it.
[39:39]
They've got a new director and they have come up with the launch network as a way to coordinate
[39:50]
all of us.
[39:51]
So what the library is now, especially the three resource centers, they are now hubs
[39:56]
and we've got direct emails and ways of reaching out to a reference library if you decide
[40:09]
I can quickly tell you the budget is OK, where we should be, but I really want to point out to you just statistics.
[40:21]
I can
[40:27]
tell you that we haven't paid back to 80, 90 percent at all, but if you look on the back page, you can see that we had 82,000 plus or minus visitors in the first quarter.
[40:44]
We used to average about 250,000 visits per quarter.
[40:50]
So, you can see that's not where we wanted to be, but it is moving up.
[40:57]
Computer usage used to be combined between Wi-Fi sessions and actual tap or computer sessions.
[41:05]
Used to be up around 200,000.
[41:08]
You can see barely made $100,000, really not.
[41:13]
But what's impressive is that even though nobody's coming to the libraries,
[41:18]
Not as much as they used to, you're still checking out a lot of books.
[41:22]
We've almost hit the 200, our average should be about 250,000 per quarter of a circulation.
[41:28]
And we were at 192,000.
[41:32]
And most of that is coming through our electronic materials collection.
[41:39]
You see what that is now at 30%.
[41:41]
I used to average about 20%.
[41:43]
We've seen a nice rise in heat material.
[41:47]
We're starting to think it's a trend.
[41:49]
We met with Fringo on Friday and we have discussed
[41:54]
the next budget.
[41:55]
We're going to increase our heat material budgets.
[41:58]
We're moving forward there.
[42:00]
That's my report.
[42:07]
Next up, the public service is up there,
[42:09]
which I assume will be really good.
[42:10]
Yeah, that's me.
[42:11]
Again, I'll point to Beyonce's report, and for the love part, we're starting to get back out there, as you can see.
[42:26]
We're getting requests to show up.
[42:29]
Even though most of our summer reading program are going to be online, we do have a few that will be in person.
[42:35]
and we won't have to make it go easy and out about in teaching curry to five to ten
[42:43]
year olds. We're slowly moving back into what we used to
[42:50]
try to guess it. Is there
[42:51]
a time around on men's ancestry will not be available? I
[43:04]
believe due to COVID if you
[43:07]
log in under your age it was available. It was available from home so I was
[43:11]
curious as an individual. Yeah, you have to make it live. Now, now I have to go check that out.
[43:19]
They may have forgotten time, but no, no, we'll check on that for you. I do not know the timeline,
[43:25]
that would be a Caleb slash Joey question, but we'll get that for you. It's been a great,
[43:30]
been a great resource. Our genealogy department has been doing a few online programs. Those are
[43:37]
all been very popular.
[43:41]
Any questions or answers? Would you like me to just move to
[43:44]
the rest of us?
[43:48]
Sports services, the bulk of our time that I was interacting with sports services was
[43:59]
getting this young lady replaced and then finding that young lady's replacement for her.
[44:05]
We had, according to Ginny's report, 5,000 new items done through the Catalogies Department
[44:15]
in March and April, the belt that pretty much records, it's a record, so mark that down
[44:23]
5,000 items is pretty good.
[44:27]
Come on in, you're not too late,
[44:33]
we should badger and move her,
[44:40]
let's see what else.
[44:41]
all
[44:45]
of our copiers, the new copiers out,
[44:51]
about any injuries or hurt feelings which was amazing.
[44:56]
And you can see our partners.
[45:06]
We're starting to get the
[45:14]
public sentence again to realize the public libraries are still here. And we've done some more of the anti-racism training of the leadership team when through unconscious bias training for hiring, which was interesting.
[45:32]
We have some other things going on, move
[45:38]
forward to Susan's, and Susan's going to tell you
[45:41]
mostly that you can try to get water out of the business down to our library.
[45:46]
And maintenance is a big thing.
[45:50]
Number two, the LED lighting version is the key thing to finish this building by my feet.
[45:57]
So, all LED in this building.
[46:00]
And let's see if that's about it, any questions?
[46:10]
Foundation, I have to tell you, the biggest thing we do is $25,000.
[46:14]
And until it's finalized, I'd like to mention who to share.
[46:24]
Gender discrimination on their part to see the symphony and art break
[46:27]
for the second period of reading invention.
[46:34]
I'll leave you a question to come to the study in a minute.
[46:39]
Is it going to be this way, yes?
[46:48]
I'm going to miss getting Kathy a hard time.
[46:53]
She's not going to put up with it so.
[46:59]
If you're into gone, ancestry.com is available until Juneibo
[47:08]
are watching.
[47:09]
So
[47:17]
our next meeting is scheduled for us in line of 26, is that along the left, do you know the right leg?
[47:28]
Okay, there's no bells, we need to move to the adjourn.
[47:33]
Second, second, and the second, and the penalty on the first leg on it.
[47:37]
I, the least drug, the penalty on the first.
[47:40]
Pass is good time.
