[8:54] Switching over to the senior services division. They have a bunch of activities for those seniors. They have their craft classes. Of course, they have their bingo, which is twice a week. But also, we had a bingo social. So it's an event that we put together where the seniors love playing Lotaria and bingo. So they were able to entertain themselves with that. By also adding music, they had the city's Hawkins dance where they got to dress the same and come with pairs. They also had movie days.

[9:22] They had excursions such as the O.C. Fair and the SWATMe.

[9:26] They also had a karaoke social and their August birthday social.

[9:29] So you can see that August was a very busy month for the seniors.

[9:32] What we try to do is we try to get them as tired as we can so they can go home and just sleep and then a little later.

[9:41] However, they keep coming back every single day, so we're so happy to see them.

[9:48] As we look, we can see our stats reports.

[9:50] These are the activities that they signed up for for the month of August.

[9:55] We have anywhere from classes, fitness classes, workshops, nutrition program, which is where

[10:01] they can eat for a donation.

[10:04] They have recreation activities, socializing groups, clubs, and even our case management

[10:08] services.

[10:09] In total, we had 6,700 and five activities, individuals attend activities throughout the month.

[10:17] And then you can see there are also the presentations we had throughout the month of August.

[10:21] We had from information booths to presentations to the health department.

[10:26] We also had the American Red Cross come in and do a blood drive.

[10:30] And then the Christian Health Center also came in and did free blood pressure screening.

[10:35] And they also set up an info booth for anybody who was interested.

[10:40] To conclude the presentation, we have our transportation division.

[10:43] and here you can see the number of trips that we gave out through the month of August.

[10:52] You can see an increase toward the end of the weeks because we started taking the children back to school.

[10:57] So you can see weeks four through six. There's a slight increase in the number of kids we were transporting.

[11:03] And also we added some new places. So we have a shopping and we have even some workplaces.

[11:10] what we hope to do with our transportation is just to add places that the seniors can that they can sign up

[11:17] and we can take them throughout the week and we call these different from our daily routes.

[16:07] funds in order for us to provide toys to the underprivileged families of the city of South

[16:13] Amani. This also includes a hot meal, a present, and a day full of activities which includes

[16:19] a snow field, a visit from Santa Claus. And lastly, we have inflatables and activities for

[16:25] the children to do. This year, the toy drive is going to, the toy giveaway is going to be

[16:30] December 12th, that is a Saturday, and we have about an average, we get about 50 to 60 families

[16:38] per group and we do four groups throughout the day. So what we like to do is send out this

[16:44] letter to the business community and they respond by giving us a check back made to the city of

[16:49] Southamani in which we would buy a toy and then give that toy to a needy family that is registered

[16:55] for the event. So attachment A is broken down there and you can see a draft of the letter.

[17:02] If this community service commission approves, then we will present this letter to the city

[17:06] council. And then attachment B is the actual form that is filled out giving the donation

[17:12] amount. So that's where a entity for a business will sign whatever amount or they can also

[17:18] put other and put a selected amount. Then they'll mail a check back to the city of South

[17:22] the money with that donation amount that they wish.

[18:31] giving. It's an annual event, and the participation has increased over the years. The first time

[18:39] we did this event, I believe was about seven years ago. We had 50, and then last year

[18:44] we had 580 participants signed up for the event. So it is a growing event. We're doing

[18:50] so the update that I wanted to provide to the commission was we did raise the fees.

[19:01] However, we had kids free for a significant amount of years.

[19:07] So all the years in the past, every child has been free.

[19:10] However, when we do every child is free,

[19:12] what we notice is that 50% of the participants

[19:14] that sign up under the free category, they don't attend the event.

[19:18] And it is a cost per participant for us to do administrative work,

[19:22] but also we have to pay for a timing chip which is $2.50 per participant.

[19:27] So whoever does income, we do it for free, we actually lose funding.

[19:32] So to make a $5 fee for youth participants, it's more of a commitment fee in order for

[19:38] them to actually attend the event.

[19:40] So that is the update that I wanted to provide to the commission and everything else with

[19:46] the races themselves, the courses have not changed, the number of categories have not changed,

[19:51] and also the race times have not changed.

[19:54] We have two races, we have the children's turkey trot, which are from ages 5 to 8 years old, and then we have the 5K from ages.

[20:02] You can sign up as a 5-year-old as well, and we go all the way up to whatever age as long as you want to participate in it.

[20:08] And within those, we have different age categories that you can win in each category.

[20:14] So some of the categories we have themselves, we have adult categories, we have a senior category.

[20:18] adult goes from 30 to 45 and then we have 46 to 55 and then we have senior

[20:24] categories from 55 to 65 and then we have a 65 plus as well.
