[6:04] with for Brian. Brian is the type of

[6:06] employee who arrives early, stays late,

[6:08] and takes personal ownership of his

[6:11] responsibility.

[6:13] One of Brian's greatest strength is his

[6:14] ability to work with the public.

[6:17] How true that is. He does not seek

[6:20] recognition or special attention. He

[6:22] simply does what is needed to be done

[6:25] when needs to be done.

[6:28] And he does it in an exceptional way.

[6:31] Brian's work ethic, professionalism, and

[6:33] dedication sets the standard for others

[6:36] to follow.

[6:37] South Weber has greatly benefited from

[6:40] Brian's decades of service.

[6:42] And we are very fortunate to have him on

[6:44] our team.

[6:47] And we do, Brian. It's great. Thank you

[7:27] come and and bring them to the city

[7:28] council and and have this public moment,

[7:31] which I think is really uh special and I

[7:33] hope that uh it comes across that way.

[7:35] But, I wanted to take a moment um to

[7:37] identify just a couple of things. Uh in

[7:40] 1996

[7:43] when Brian started working for South

[7:45] Weber City, the number one movie was

[7:47] Independence Day.

[7:49] Other movies that came out that year,

[7:51] Mission Impossible, the first one.

[7:54] Scream, the first one. There are now

[7:57] seven of those. Happy Gilmore and Space

[8:00] Jam.

[8:00] The dance craze song of the year,

[8:03] Macarena.

[8:05] Came out in 1996 when Brian started

[8:08] working here. It took It was a 14 weeks

[8:10] at number one on the Billboard charts.

[8:12] Uh, Princess Diana was still alive.

[8:15] Hong Kong was still ruled by, uh, Great

[8:17] Britain.

[8:19] Uh, it's now under Chinese control

[8:20] again. The Utah population was about 2

[8:23] million. We're now about 3.5.

[8:26] And, uh, South Weber's population was

[8:28] about 3,500. We're now over, uh, 8,200.

[8:32] When he started, there were four

[8:35] full-time employees in public works. It

[8:37] fluctuated between three and five over

[8:40] those first few years, he told me. Um,

[8:44] >> now we have 10 full-time employees in

[8:46] public works, for comparison. Things

[8:48] that did not exist when Brian started

[8:51] working for South Weber City.

[8:53] Um, our water employee, Adam Jordan.

[9:00] Google, Netflix, Wi-Fi, Facebook, the

[9:03] iPhone, Blu-ray discs were not a thing.

[9:06] DVDs actually just barely came out that

[9:09] year.

[9:10] Um,

[9:11] fiber, of course, internet, 5G,

[9:14] streaming, those things did not exist.

[9:16] UTA's tracks did not exist that year.

[9:20] And the International Space Station did

[9:22] not exist. Uh, Europe's current

[9:24] currency, the euro, did not exist. Harry

[9:27] Potter was not a thing. Of course, Real

[9:30] Salt Lake and, uh, the Utah Jazz Western

[9:33] Conference Finals championships were not

[9:35] a thing when he started.

[9:38] Adams Avenue Toll Road did not exist.

[9:42] And of course Canyons Meadow, any of it.

[9:45] The park, the subdivision, all of it did

[9:47] not exist at that time. The fire

[9:48] station, the family activity center, the

[9:51] central water tank,

[9:53] none of which was here.

[9:55] In those 30 years that Brian has

[9:57] dedicated his work life to South Weber

[9:59] City, I realize that I have worked for

[10:02] eight different organizations and Lance

[10:04] 11.

[10:08] average. We looked it up. It's not a bad

[10:09] thing that we had those numbers, but

[10:12] very loyal in that time. But more

[10:13] importantly, in those 30 years Brian

[10:16] worked hard every single day to make

[10:18] South Weber a better place and I think

[10:20] he's accomplished that. He's held every

[10:23] single position that public works

[10:24] department has had over those 30 years

[10:27] and and he's touched parks and streets

[10:30] and water and everything in between.

[10:34] So, the difference that Brian has made

[10:36] is significant and and I'm happy to to

[10:39] say on behalf of all of us, thank you,

[10:41] Brian. You're truly amazing.
