[0:03] I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the
[0:08] republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and
[0:15] justice for all. >> Please remain standing for a moment of
[0:17] silence.
[0:25] Thank you. Welcome everybody. Start with the commissioner's agenda.
[0:32] Any public comment on the commissioner's agenda?
[0:35] » This is where I can ask question. >> This is where you better ask now. Hold
[0:39] your piece. >> Number six, uh the ordinance regarding
[0:42] uh the $5 fee. >> Um can you explain just a little bit
[0:46] about how all that came about? >> You know, how long have you guys been
[0:50] discussing that? >> Well, it's been uh in discussion since
[0:54] what was it 2013 or 2015 when they enacted it? What was the date? Let me
[1:00] see. 2015. 2013 is when they enacted it. 2015
[1:06] is when counties started putting it in place. We're one of the few counties
[1:11] left that haven't done it yet.
[1:15] » Do you know how many vehicles are in Saskuana County that this is going to
[1:18] impact? >> I know. I've got four. [laughter]
[1:24] No, I do not have that number off the top of my head. There was a study done
[1:27] on it.
[1:31] » Do you have a figure of how much you guys expect to race through this?
[1:35] » Well, it's all going to depend on, again, that's a a dart in the board on
[1:40] the wall because we don't know u if you register your car for one year, you pay
[1:44] five bucks. If you register for two years, you pay five bucks. So, if you do
[1:48] it for two years, you're only paying 250 a year.
[1:51] » So, so we don't know what we're going to get.
[1:56] But when it comes to 40 bridges that the county owns, any
[2:01] help we can get for replacement of those bridges or work, that's the main thing.
[2:08] » Now, I noticed it's not supposed to take effect until May. Is that just to give
[2:12] the department >> just the process? It has to go back
[2:14] through the Department of Transportation for them to enact it and put it in place
[2:18] because they collect it and then they send it to us.
[2:24] » All right. Anybody else on that? Anything on anything else?
[2:27] » I have a question on that because I gave a presentation about this at our state
[2:33] association. >> Yep.
[2:34] » And does it go with act 89 or 44 or is it a separate fund?
[2:40] » It's act 89. >> Okay.
[2:42] » So, yeah.
[2:46] Okay. Anything else? Get a motion to close public comment.

[5:18] narcotic work. So I really consider that part of the job description. I mean
[5:22] there is no K9 to be handled. So >> right, but Justin's position as the U
[5:26] chief county detector encompasses everything.
[5:29] » Okay. >> So he's covered through that.
[5:31] » Okay. >> Now you can have him do everything.
[5:34] [laughter] >> Unfortunately, I think he realizes that
[5:39] So, >> and maybe have to for a little bit of
[5:41] time, right? >> Yeah. He's going to be he's going to be
[5:44] uh busy. >> So, you're Yes on that then.

[11:05] Colare Transportation, right? Yeah. Col. Yep. and Jersey Shore PA for a price of
[11:13] $6,953.
[11:17] All in favor say I. >> I.
[11:19] » I. So carried. Uh before we close again back to the $5 fee, uh we're one of the
[11:25] few counties left in the state that finally enacted it. Uh basically the
[11:30] condition of local bridges have gotten to the point where we're starting to
[11:34] have to replace bridges and do major work. We have one uh bridge we've
[11:38] already gotten a multimotal grant on that Christian Daryl worked with uh was
[11:43] housing authority, right? Housing authority on to get us and that was what
[11:46] two and a half million >> $2.5 million grant. We still have to
[11:49] come up with our match on it which we pay. Uh we have another bridge that we
[11:54] just put in to uh try and get a multimodal on um to get the funding for
[11:59] that. The issue is is all these bridges in the county are all aging out and
[12:04] becoming uh in somewhat less than optimum condition and are going to
[12:10] require uh replacements, a lot of them. And right now the cost to replace a uh a
[12:16] small bridge is anywhere from $2 million to $5 million. So it's very expensive to
[12:23] replace them. Uh don't know how we ended up with all the bridges. We don't own
[12:27] any of the roads. Well, for some reason we own all the bridges. So that was must
[12:32] have been a heck of a deal back in the early times. So
[12:36] » we have a significant match that we have to go with, you know, multi.
[12:39] » Yeah. So multimotal we have a significant match on the other one
[12:42] that's like $2.5 million. It's like $659,000
[12:46] we have to match for. So they are significant. So again, instead of just
[12:52] doing tax increases every year, this is a way to basically hit the people who
[12:57] are driving across the bridges and trying to get some funds to uh um be
[13:01] able to pay for our match and get these bridges replaced. So that's what that's
[13:06] about. So, and uh I guess it's this weekend's Valentine's Day, right? So,
[13:10] happy Valentine's Day to everybody. [laughter]
[13:14] » The softer side of me today.
[13:19] All right. Item 20. >> I'll make a motion to approve item
[13:22] number 20. >> Second.
[13:24] » Motion by Commissioner M. Second by Commissioner Der to approve item 20.
[13:27] Close the meeting at 9:13. All in favor say I.
[13:31] » Thank you all for coming. >> [laughter]
