[0:02] Big shoes to fill there. Who do
[0:05] » I need to yell at? [laughter]
[0:09] [snorts]
[0:15] » Stupid. >> Hey, get comfortable in that seat. Then
[0:17] the next time the election, I'm gonna mess with him. Uh,
[0:21] » everyone except Julie, I believe. No, >> he's so when he he sits down, it's super
[0:27] low and then he's going to go home. I know. I have to raise it up for him
[0:31] every time [laughter] because it doesn't fit under the thing.
[0:35] » Oh, yeah.
[0:38] » Um, paper packet. No computers. Cuz there's so many people. I was like, I'm
[0:43] not doing it twice. >> Um, yours is on your computer.
[0:48] » Yeah. Hold on one second. >> Stupid thing.
[0:55] tomorrow. >> Uh Nate Griffith
[0:58] is the This thing just needs to go in the trash.
[1:04] » Is it going to work? Probably not. >> I'm just going to shut the camera off.
[1:10] [snorts]
[1:14] » Coming from highrise, I hope I show you all.
[1:16] » Yeah, we have a quum so we can start. >> Yeah. Um, let me start recording. Are
[1:22] you ready, Mike? >> Yeah, I'm ready, but not everybody's
[1:25] hearing. Still start. Let's get her going.
[1:29] » Okay, I'm going to start recording. >> Okay. And Dusty is online, too. So,
[1:37] » Okay. Uh, we're going to start the city council and parks and recck joint
[1:41] meeting for Tuesday, August 18th, 2026. Can we have a roll, please?
[1:50] » Yes. Oh my gosh, this is going to be a test for me. Um, okay. Uh, Stag
[1:56] » here. >> Klein
[1:59] » here. >> Ornament
[2:02] » here.
[2:06] » West Benfer >> here.
[2:12] » Man >> here.
[2:15] Hoffman >> here
[2:17] » and Britney is not on parks and wreck. >> I think there's a
[2:22] » Yeah. >> Okay.
[2:27] » Hi Nate. >> You can just grab one of the paper
[2:31] packets from those piles and that has all the information. And we're just
[2:34] doing roll. So I'm going to say is it's Griffith correct?
[2:39] » Yeah. >> Okay. Take the whole stack. Just the
[2:42] » one. Just one. Just one whole pile. >> One whole pile. up.
[2:46] Sorry. [laughter]
[2:50] » Perfect. Okay. So, I'm going to say your name and you're just going to say here.
[2:55] So, Griffith.
[3:00] » Okay. >> Yes, we are. Good.
[3:05] » Okay. Next, I want to approval of agenda.
[3:09] » Motion to approve agenda. >> Second. I got a motion and a second to
[3:13] approve the agenda. All those in favor?
[3:17] » I.
[3:21] Next thing I got on the package is an approval of consent agenda.
[3:28] Approval of consent agenda. >> Motion to approve consent agenda.
[3:32] Second. >> Got a motion to approve consent agenda
[3:35] and a second. Let's do a roll for this. >> All right. Bernamat.
[3:41] » Hi, >> Pujo.
[3:45] » Fine. >> Hi,
[3:46] » Stag. >> Hi.
[3:49] » Okay. And I guess we'll just do everyone. Uh, Hoffman.
[3:54] » Hi. >> West Menfer.
[3:57] » Hi. >> Griffith.
[4:00] » Hi. >> And Herman.
[4:01] » Hi. >> We will move from that to the public
[4:06] comment. If anybody at the VIP said no >> I just Dusty is listening on and online.
[4:15] » So if anybody like to speak to the council or information
[4:23] anything that is not on the agenda but now's the time.
[4:34] Okay, let's get to business.
[4:39] All right. >> First thing is Swisser Sports Youth
[4:44] or U Sports adding public equipment to caster.
[4:50] » Go ahead, Britney. Um, so we're looking at doing um
[4:55] doing something else um and bringing like a rectangle deck box
[5:03] up at the Castic Park. Um, I've reached out with Elely. They have something
[5:08] similar. Um, and it's some is a deck box that has jump ropes, chalk, basketball,
[5:15] soccer balls, um, volleyballs, kickballs, pickle ball, rackets and
[5:21] balls, frisbes. So, it's just something that, um, you know, kids are riding
[5:25] their bikes and they can't bring a basketball. And, you know, I know
[5:28] there's going to be a lot of improvements up there and that's
[5:31] happening. Um, so it's just something that So Sports wants to give back. Um,
[5:35] » it's just like a storage box. >> It's just a storage box
[5:38] » on what they have. >> Yes. Yep. Um, so I asked Ele and just
[5:44] kind of I called them and kind of just got just a little insight. Um, theirs
[5:49] was locked. It got broken into. So now they do not lock it. Um, and obviously
[5:54] with anything stuff gets vandalized, stuff gets broken. So Sports would
[6:00] provide all of that. Um, you know, we're going to try to, you know, ask if people
[6:04] have stuff that they want to get rid of, you know, donate it. Um, but it's just
[6:08] something that, you know, right at the initial cost, we'll provide everything.
[6:12] But, um, we just, you know, I don't know if it can be monitored by cameras. I
[6:17] know there's cameras up there. I know things are going to get vandalized.
[6:20] Things are going to get left out, but I feel that, you know, this is would be a
[6:23] great asset to, you know, the park up there. But
[6:27] » they've got one at both both of the parks in the too. There's a there's a
[6:31] smaller one up at what what they call the fire park where it's got all like
[6:34] the fire equipment and then the basketball courts. There's one sitting
[6:37] up there too and there's always stuff in there. I don't know if it gets stuff
[6:41] gets taken out but it's they don't lock either. Yeah. Maybe they can just go up
[6:44] there and take >> and they did have like a bigger one but
[6:47] it got like the wind damaged the wind came through and it just ripped off the
[6:50] door. So that's why they did the death box. Um, but like I said, it's something
[6:55] that, you know, we want. We're trying to give back, but we don't know, you know,
[7:00] something. So, >> is there a spot for us to put this where
[7:04] the cameras can be focused on it, too? >> Um, I'm sure. Or we can we can always
[7:09] just get another one of the cameras that we've already gotten. We have one at the
[7:14] sewer plant, one at public works, and one up here. Um, and we can they're $30,
[7:19] and it doesn't cost anything to have them running off Wi-Fi. So we could
[7:22] always do that. >> And I didn't know if like it could be up
[7:24] by the concession stand just so it kind of had some you know.
[7:28] » And these cameras are solar so we don't have to have power or anything. We can
[7:31] mount them anywhere. So >> where the size is,
[7:35] » you know. >> Gosh.
[7:37] » Like just kind of that table if not a little bit smaller. Not the height, just
[7:41] the size. Um >> Okay. You walked through it.
[7:45] » It's got like double doors on it. >> Um it would just have one door.
[7:50] » There's one right at the legion. Mhm. >> Right outside. You walked right by it
[7:53] yesterday. Go to the meeting. Oh, I probably did. [laughter] Sits right up
[7:56] against the building. Probably did. >> Okay.
[8:00] Just curious. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yep. It's not relatively
[8:04] huge. It's just Yeah.
[8:11] » Other questions? >> Yeah. We just have to find the best spot
[8:15] to put it that makes the most sense, but I would I would think anywhere up there.
[8:20] I mean >> I mean stuff's gonna get taken out of it
[8:23] and not returned or it's get taken and left down at the basketball court. So I
[8:27] mean that's the reality of it. I think every year we just ask for does people
[8:31] have stuff to donate back into it, >> right?
[8:33] » But [clears throat] I think more than anything is just a
[8:35] reminder that there's no like vandalism being done to
[8:40] » all all the balls and all that stuff will be easy to have donated as their
[8:43] kids get older. I mean, I've got stuff sitting in my garage. I'll
[8:46] » get everybody. >> And [clears throat] if things something
[8:50] does happen where, you know, we need to take it away, we'll, you know, I'll
[8:53] contact, you know, Brian help me or we'll put it away for a while. And,
[8:57] » you know, like I said, I know things are going to happen, right? But it's just
[9:01] nice to have, you know, you always see kids up there, but they don't have a
[9:04] basketball or they want to do stuff and, you know, they're able to use the soccer
[9:08] nets or, you know, just things down there. So, um,
[9:11] » and then in the winter time, we could always put it in the storage shed.
[9:15] » Yeah. >> Just take a haul back up there.
[9:25] » That's it for that. Let's move on to the next thing. Paint estimates for trail
[9:30] and updates. >> Yeah. So, in your packet, you have an
[9:34] estimate um that Donna had provided for the paint to redo some of the activities
[9:39] on the trail. I also put a post out on the Swisser City of Swisser Facebook
[9:45] page uh looking for someone to volunteer to do the activities we have and maybe
[9:51] add some more if they had ideas. I haven't gotten any emails about that
[9:54] yet, but hopefully we'll get someone to volunteer. Um, I thought about reaching
[9:58] out to Prairie once school gets back in session, too, and asking if they wanted
[10:02] to like do something with it. Um, or Kirkwood if they have art students or
[10:07] anything like that, too. >> Can we just when they do paint it, can
[10:12] we ask her if they can like sprinkle like sand or some like when it when it
[10:17] rains like you're Oh, yeah. Like you wouldn't think just a like a small
[10:22] little strip, but I I was running over there and it was wet. Like I mean you
[10:27] could definitely slip. >> They make all kinds of paint with that
[10:30] stuff in it like an epoxy in it where it makes it not so slick and everything.
[10:34] » Just figured it wouldn't probably cost that much to add some sort of
[10:38] » you know >> like grit to it.
[10:40] » Yeah.
[10:44] I'm just thinking if I almost slipped and I got size 10 and a half little kid
[10:48] with, you know, >> right?
[10:55] » Just be a few gallons of paint probably. >> Yeah.
[10:58] » Yeah. I think the estimate was like was it 152? Um
[11:03] » the Sherman Williams one. >> Yes. It's kind of hard to see on there,
[11:06] but >> 138. Yeah.
[11:10] » Yellow, blue, and red. They did not have grants.
[11:14] » Okay. >> Okay.
[11:16] » Yeah. And there's money um on the So with parks and wreck, I provide this to
[11:23] them so they can see our current budget, what we've expended so far um and what
[11:27] we have left. So obviously you can see we have um money left in grounds
[11:32] maintenance um quite a bit. So
[11:40] » the difference is what we have left in the budget.
[11:42] » Yeah. 880 500 or 8,000.
[11:54] » Okay.
[11:58] Let's move on to Barks and Rex duties and buildings.
[12:06] All right. So, I provided what we have in our code for parks and wreck. This
[12:12] got brought up because um I think there's been some confusion with the
[12:17] processes of parks and wreck, what your guys's position is and versus like mine
[12:24] and public works and council, who's making decisions, who's buying things,
[12:28] all of that. So, um I put this in here because it's very small. This is the
[12:33] only page that provides information on what um parks and recck should be
[12:37] responsible for. Um it when it comes to purchasing, it just says follow
[12:42] procedures established by council. Um those procedures are uh basically
[12:47] everything goes on the claims list, which is what we've been doing, but I
[12:50] don't think that was related to like parks and wreck. So, when council asks
[12:56] me to put stuff on your guys's agenda and then I put it on your agenda, you
[13:00] guys talk about it, you find something, you want to purchase it, and then it
[13:03] comes back to me and then I put it on the claims list for council to approve.
[13:08] Um, unless it's like a big item, I make it an agenda item. That way, we can talk
[13:12] about where the money's coming from and all of that. But, if it's general stuff
[13:15] like basketball nets, I just go ahead and order them. Um, so I can purchase up
[13:19] to $500 on one item. Um, and so I will usually just order maintenance supplies
[13:24] and things. Um, but I think what
[13:31] has been happening is you guys give recommendations to council, but
[13:33] sometimes they change them and make a different decision. I just don't think
[13:37] there's a lot of communication going back and forth on like why it was
[13:40] changed or why it was different or if it was even changed. So, I think if we come
[13:45] up with procedures on, you know, what what you guys would like
[13:50] to see and what council would like to see going forward,
[13:52] » I think it's important for us to have a joint meeting at least every other year
[13:57] at a minimum. I think even once a year is probably even better just because
[14:02] especially on parks board, there's been a huge turnover in the last couple
[14:05] years. Uh, council we've seen turnover. Um, so just to get everybody on the same
[14:09] page, I think it's definitely needed because
[14:13] Last time we had one of these, I Mike might might have been the only other
[14:16] person. It's been a long time, >> especially with all the changes that are
[14:19] going on up there, too. We're making some drastic
[14:24] » changes to the park. So, it's good to >> The other thing I'd like to know is like
[14:27] whose responsibility? Like, say all of a sudden we decide
[14:31] » um we're going to redo the whole infield, which we're already doing or
[14:34] whatever, like >> should that be on the city council to go
[14:37] out and get the bids or should it be on the parks and recck commission? Because
[14:41] in my opinion, just my personal opinion, I think it should be on the parks
[14:44] because we're doing it for the parks. You guys are on the board. And I mean,
[14:48] sure, it's got to be approved by us, but I mean to take away from uh Mallalerie
[14:53] and Brian trying to, you know, call around, get bids or get quotes and
[14:57] everything, that should kind of be part of the parks board, I would think. I
[15:01] mean, if you guys come up with an idea, say you guys want to put in a whole new
[15:05] playground set or whatever, you guys get the bids and bring them to us and then
[15:09] we would I mean, >> you know,
[15:12] » the only thing that I the only thing that I would argue against that claim
[15:16] would be like that's a that's a significant like construction build. So
[15:21] for if we have the ability to put out a public bid like we're like that's the
[15:27] like as a city like you guys can we I don't know if we have access to it. I'm
[15:32] sure we would gladly do it but like you put out hey public notice we're looking
[15:37] for public bid instead of okay I'm going to call this guy this guy like you make
[15:42] the contractor come to you. >> Yeah you guys bring that to us instead
[15:47] of us bringing that to you. You know what I No, no, no. I'm saying I'm saying
[15:51] like the city would put out a public notice that says I'm looking for a bit.
[15:55] » Yeah. Yeah. She's almost I think over a certain dollar we'd have to, don't we?
[15:59] » Um it's like it's an extreme amount and it's only it's vertical and horizontal
[16:04] infrastructure that we have to, right? >> Um but otherwise it's like an weird it's
[16:08] like a $300,000 or something crazy. I [clears throat] asked about it because I
[16:12] thought that too that if it was over 10,000 we had to put it out to bid. Um
[16:16] but we don't. So, um, obviously we want the best price. So,
[16:21] » that pavilion was like, say that pavilion was like 23,000. Did we have to
[16:25] post that on our >> Nope.
[16:27] » No, but you can get that's an easy way for you to to be able to not have to do
[16:33] so much leg work of, okay, I got I'm going to call 15 contractors. You make
[16:37] them do it. You just say, hey, we're looking for a new pavilion.
[16:46] city person was going to do some of that >> but never did.
[16:50] » Right. >> Kind of got lost in the bushes.
[16:53] » See, that's where I'm thinking we've kind of like not dropped the ball but
[16:56] we've got confused of like >> do we supposed to be doing this stuff or
[17:00] » But if you're not but if you're not in the industry like Patty are you in
[17:04] construction? Yeah. You know you know people in construction. That's that's
[17:08] what that's what I'm saying is if you have the ability to put it out as a
[17:12] public notice like that's the easiest way.
[17:14] » And then and then you're doing like a like a very minuscule amount of leg
[17:18] work. >> I will say the things we've put out
[17:20] since I've been here I get no responses to I the the ball diamond I had to reach
[17:25] out many many times >> to get bids on those but that's kind of
[17:29] more of a niche thing. >> The the pavilion was the same thing. I
[17:32] did get a couple estimates after um Grom so we did end up with two or three um
[17:37] but I am like even though I post it and publish it and all that um we're not
[17:42] getting anymore. >> I think
[17:44] nobody
[17:48] » Yes. >> Exactly. I I think that it's a it's I
[17:51] think it's just like a stigma that we're not the same as working for Cedar Rapids
[17:56] and I think people just lump it all together like you know for us it's like
[17:59] any other place you have to provide your insurance that's that's it and
[18:04] » so I put it out and I'm glad to publish and I'm glad to you know continue
[18:08] researching or trying to get bids and things. I think the thing that takes up
[18:11] a lot of my time that um I so I'm not able to do it as well is um grants,
[18:17] donations, things like that. And Brian had talked about that as well, like
[18:21] wanting to do that. Um especially with like the basketball court and stuff like
[18:25] that. We could have gotten uh donations potentially, but I just don't I don't
[18:30] have time to do that. Brian does definitely doesn't have time to do that.
[18:33] And so that would be a good thing for parks and wreck to kind of
[18:37] » I think some of it is you guys have an idea try to thumbnail a price that we're
[18:44] looking at so we can then have an idea of what we're looking at as a starting
[18:48] point. So say you want to redo a new play set saying, "Oh, well made a quick
[18:54] few phone calls. It's going to cost 15 grand to redo it." and you guys can kind
[18:59] of decide among yourself that's the direction you want to go
[19:02] » before bringing it to us instead of us saying oh three of us don't want it but
[19:07] two of us do and then comes back that what we decided on is not exactly the
[19:11] direction you guys wanted to go so give us some guidance on the direction of
[19:16] what you guys are looking for that way it makes it a little easier and quicker
[19:20] on us >> it almost it almost sounds like speaking
[19:23] with Mallerie if you're not getting it's almost going to be getting quotes on
[19:26] anything around here is going to be word of mouth out better than anything like
[19:29] we know somebody or you know or Cody knows somebody that does this or I know
[19:33] somebody that does this. >> But also looking at like the current
[19:37] state of where we are and where we're going. We do have a new pavilion now. We
[19:40] do have a new infield. So like the next big project would probably be a pavilion
[19:45] up here if that's like how we if you guys want to go with it. Besides that,
[19:50] in playground equipment, like individualized items up there, I don't
[19:54] see, and maybe I'm wrong, Patty, any other huge project,
[19:59] » unless we put a playground on orchard on that lot.
[20:02] » That would be a whole Yeah, that's a whole
[20:03] » And that'd be like half million probably.
[20:08] » A lot where I don't know where it's at where I buy it.
[20:11] » Yes, >> it's kind [laughter] of fit in. Yeah.
[20:13] But at the same time, I think, you know, just kind of looking at the future, like
[20:18] that's a lower line item, looking at a fiveyear plan. But I mean, the ball
[20:22] diamond and redoing the pavilion were two big projects that
[20:26] » parking lot. >> Yeah. And the park Well, the parking lot
[20:28] I think like they can always give us feedback. All right. All right. This
[20:32] needs to be redone. that goes into our >> No, but I'm just saying it was a big
[20:35] project to start with when we redid it, you know,
[20:37] » but I think going forward we shouldn't run into too many more of those because
[20:41] » we've kind of tackled some of the big >> ticket items from the outfield.
[20:46] » Yeah, the outfield still needs to be addressed, but I think that should be
[20:50] much less significant than the infield. >> Yeah.
[20:53] » But no material like material wise and stuff,
[20:56] » but people are excited because they see the changes.
[20:59] » Exactly. >> That's all anybody wants to see for so
[21:01] long. It just sat there and nobody did anything. So, youth sports is using it.
[21:06] There's more people up there. So, that's what we want.
[21:09] » Yep. And the park's something that's 100% used by everybody. I mean, can be
[21:14] by anybody. It's not socialized by just these people use this and Right.
[21:18] » Yeah. So, the park is for everyone, which is a great thing,
[21:21] » especially for the youth. >> A lot of people use the batting cage,
[21:25] which is great. I mean, >> people can use it. I'm like, it's free
[21:29] game. Go up there whenever you want. you know, it's first come, first serve. You
[21:32] know, it's just nice that everything up there is Yeah.
[21:35] » Yeah. We're actually hosting Prairie AU softball is going to be using the
[21:39] diamond this year, too, around Swisseru Sports. So, between the Mavericks,
[21:43] Swisseru Sports, and the AU softball, like the diamond is going to be used a
[21:48] ton this fall and next year. So, >> so maybe we could maybe see if we could
[21:52] get the scoreboard. >> I took the I got a it's going to be like
[21:57] 500 bucks. We can try to I can get a new um they still make those buttons. It's a
[22:04] whole new thing cuz some of the buttons work and some of them don't. So
[22:07] » the whole board now is probably >> well they you can I think the it's $500
[22:13] for the whole setup and then you can you can like stuff plug and plays. Yeah.
[22:19] » So >> is that
[22:20] » I don't know what it is exactly that's broke. So, it's might as well just buy a
[22:24] whole different thing very much works except for the score up.
[22:28] » Yeah. >> Is it worth it to even do that or should
[22:31] we start like making a plan to like replace the scoreboard and the
[22:34] controller and update it? >> Was that donated by somebody?
[22:39] » I'm not sure. >> I think that's
[22:44] » Oh, I just don't know if you could get another controller that would
[22:50] » Could you? >> Yeah, I found them.
[22:51] » A new one. Mhm. >> They look It looks exactly like They
[22:55] still make that >> really?
[22:57] » Yeah. Like what's the what's your Yeah. Breed name the scoreboard company, but
[23:03] um it's like D de D de D de D de D de D de D de D de D de D de D or D something.
[23:06] » Dronics. >> Dacttronics.
[23:07] » So is that is that the 500 or >> Yeah, it's for the for the whole thing.
[23:13] » So >> we can get going. I think we should move
[23:18] forward on that because we >> we drag our feet on that scoreboard for
[23:22] about about four or five years ago. So, >> um and I'll tell you like when I ran the
[23:28] softball tournament, a lot of people that are in the
[23:30] » not even the outfield, but sitting on the side, they're like, "Man, it'd be
[23:33] nice to know the score in the inning." >> Yeah.
[23:35] » So, that'd be something easy. >> And and the youth sport, the youth teams
[23:39] that are practicing are playing down there could use it, too. And I'll also
[23:42] tell you there are two lights that are out too. The left field left light is
[23:47] out and then there's one along the first baseline. One of the lights is out
[23:54] fixed. >> They told me that the left field left
[23:56] light was fixed. >> Well, actually like the whole light
[23:59] » No, the whole light system shuts down after like an hour and a half. Did you
[24:03] have that issue? >> Okay. So, Steve's Electric did look at
[24:06] it. Um, but that was after that. So I don't know if it was just so hot that
[24:12] day sports games up there turned them on and after 45 minutes we had like three
[24:17] nights of games for 45 minutes it it would not turn off.
[24:21] » It like shut off and then cooled down and then start started back up.
[24:25] » Yeah.
[24:29] » I don't know. I mean I know in the past we've tried to get people look at it.
[24:34] The biggest issue nobody says they have a lift to get up there to look at it.
[24:37] Mhm. >> Uh but I think we do need to commit to
[24:40] figuring out that lighting situation because you guys do do a night under the
[24:44] lights, right? >> We do like three nights under the lights
[24:46] for summer. >> And I know those those people still go
[24:49] up on Friday nights. >> Blitz ball. Blitz ball.
[24:53] » Do they turn the lights on for life? >> Yeah. So like the lights aren't getting
[24:56] used. >> The Mavericks did use them all season.
[25:01] Um because they had to go after Swisher Sports. So it was dark. They used them
[25:04] every time. you know, I I just don't know.
[25:10] » Steve's electric is who replaced the bulbs last time, so I'll just reach out
[25:14] to him, >> which I guess concerns me. There might
[25:17] be something more going on with that left leg because I know that was the one
[25:20] that was out. He replaced the bulbs and it went out again. There's
[25:24] » it's probably the bast or the transformer or something.
[25:28] » So, Steve's electric told you everything was hunky dory. Um well after putting in
[25:35] they ran electric through the middle of the ball diamond and made an outlet for
[25:39] the pitching machine over by the um the batting cage and he did look at the
[25:45] breaker and that issue and said that he I don't know what he fixed but he said
[25:51] that it was fixed. So, we haven't obviously tested it. So, maybe we should
[25:55] go up there and just like flip them on and leave them on for a while um at
[25:58] night. But >> if it's shutting down, it's not in the
[26:02] breaker. It's up. They have a heat shut down on metal how lights and then that's
[26:07] why it takes so long cuz the bulb has to cool completely off before it restarts.
[26:13] » So, it's >> So, replacing the lights to something
[26:16] different maybe. I mean, if the if he's replacing the bulbs, then
[26:21] » it doesn't I mean, he can replace the bulb and it'll still
[26:24] » it's upstream from that. >> Okay.
[26:28] Um, one other thing that I would like to bring up when we talk about duties and
[26:33] roles is Brian talked about I think he said over in Wheelie maybe that they
[26:38] like sold naming rights essentially to like or payload like the ball diamond to
[26:43] the pavilion stuff like that to essentially raise money for the parks.
[26:48] Um, I know you guys do a bunch of fundraising and sponsor stuff, but I
[26:52] think that would be and I don't know if like one of you guys or you guys want
[26:56] Brian to come to your meeting because I think he was going to look more into it.
[26:59] » Essentially, like he said, they basically like kind of put it out for
[27:02] auction essentially. >> Yeah.
[27:04] » You could name the ball diamond, you could name the basketball court, the
[27:08] pavilion, if we build a new pavilion here, that pavilion, which brings in
[27:13] significant money to then reinvest right back in. Um, I think he was saying like
[27:18] the what the one pavilion went for like $14,000 or something. People
[27:25] » did. >> I did talk to the bank here in town um
[27:28] and asked, you know, if we did do something with a playground if they
[27:32] would donate money to it and he basically said, "Yeah, just email me
[27:35] what your plan is, what how much the total is, and then we'll decide like how
[27:39] much we're willing to give to it." So, I mean, that was like a two second phone
[27:42] call. So, I think it would be pretty easy to for big places like that to
[27:49] donate some. >> But I don't know if that's something you
[27:51] guys would like to talk about at like your meeting on like talk with Brian
[27:55] about like how we could go forward with that. But I think that could even if it
[27:59] brought in $10,000, you know, >> we could get somebody to just look at
[28:03] the lights and >> fix the lights
[28:06] » that I'll I'll call Steve's Electric tomorrow. So, that is will be worked
[28:10] out. Um the as far as like soliciting donations and stuff, I can always put a
[28:18] thing out on the clerk net and just ask what other towns do. Um
[28:22] » well because that that was like part of it is you made the post like what do
[28:26] people want to see? >> Number one thing that people want to see
[28:29] is splash bag which they don't realize like that's probably one to$ 1.5
[28:34] million. Mhm. >> I mean, because we don't have city
[28:36] water, but that's it's probably not I think someone said a community center,
[28:40] which there isn't the physical space up there for that.
[28:44] » Um, so it's what other things can we start hammering off this list? And I
[28:48] mean, we don't have a huge budget. [clears throat] Um, but I think even if
[28:54] we start getting ahead of it moneywise to when we're like, hey, if we want to
[29:00] build another park in town, how do we actually start planning for something
[29:02] like that? Mhm.
[29:05] » My thought is to improve the ones we have. We lost three parks in the
[29:09] squisher cuz I never thought we'd have this little far honestly. But
[29:13] » it has come in handy and it was worth it. So it's
[29:17] » and it cannot be so it can't it can that could got it's got room to grow.
[29:22] » You know what I mean? It could be the mediumsiz park
[29:26] » like this one for little kids. Like my mom takes her to daycare and brings hers
[29:31] like there's a lot. But I'm saying like swing like you could add we could add
[29:34] swings there or something, you know? I mean it just because the post people
[29:39] don't see a a splash pad go up doesn't mean that they're going to two years
[29:43] they're going to be like I can't believe the city of Swisser is not doing
[29:47] anything for you know they clearly see the upgrades that are that are
[29:51] happening. >> Yeah. And the thing about it is like
[29:53] I've never heard anybody in town complain about us spending money at
[29:57] parks. You'll have people complain about every other thing that we do about
[30:02] spending money, but I've at least I have never heard anybody complaining about
[30:07] » putting money up at the at the big park or the little park at all.
[30:10] » Correct. >> And like even like everybody talks good
[30:12] about that youth sports club that we or group that it started up there with all
[30:16] that stuff going, right? You know, when when we were kids, uh they had
[30:21] they'd do like a week. I think the Willows ran it then, but they'd have a
[30:25] week where it was like a crafts week for the kids, like four days one week and it
[30:30] was all free to them and like they had volunteers that would do crafts with the
[30:33] kids and or volleyball game or stuff like that. It's neat to see like the
[30:39] kids starting to use the park again like it was
[30:44] » as parks and recck. Do you guys think that you have like the time or
[30:48] capability of like doing fundraising, doing soliciting donations
[30:53] u or planning that kind of stuff? it be worth like
[31:01] I mean I guess what how would you could you do if we started like a if we
[31:07] started a parks Facebook page and then like have a
[31:13] separate like Venmo account that goes into like would that be a thing that
[31:18] that the parks the park because I you got to make it easier for people to
[31:22] donate like you can't be like oh yeah write a check out to the to the city and
[31:26] go down to the you know, the post office and mail it or
[31:30] drop it off to like everything's electronic now. So, somebody can get on
[31:34] and be like, "Oh, I'll donate 20 bucks." >> It's like you see a lot of those like
[31:37] towns like if they want to put in splash pad, they'll be like, "All right, we got
[31:40] to do a community and they just do 100,000 out of it or
[31:45] whatever. >> There has to be a faster way for people
[31:48] to join in." I guarantee there's a lot of people in this town like if we had a
[31:51] quick like if you could Venmo 25 bucks. I just want to know the legality part of
[31:56] it if that's >> so like if we could because it's easy to
[32:00] do a QR scan this QR code and it'll take you our Venmo and you can donate five
[32:04] bucks. I mean you could make a little placard up there and just post it on the
[32:09] pavilon
[32:13] counts. like we could just go that route and then just have it there all the time
[32:18] and then the parents walking by and it's like oh I can give them 20 bucks you
[32:23] know >> for sure sports does have a Venmo and
[32:26] like we don't get the full amount they do t they do take out
[32:30] » right >> you mean that's just
[32:32] » you don't get the full $10 you get >> even as a nonprofit
[32:36] » that's um we use a system called all paid right
[32:40] now um which has an app it as you know, you click a link, I can make a QR code
[32:46] to go to the link and then we could put a donation button on there, too. So, but
[32:51] there's a fee associated with that, too. So,
[32:54] » I mean, $3. >> Yeah.
[32:56] » Yep.
[32:59] » Yeah. I mean, I I would think like even separate from use for like I I really
[33:06] think like the naming rights. I don't know how we all feel about it, but I I
[33:10] just think that could bring in significant money to actually like start
[33:14] » cuz I mean, >> did they do it for projects or did they
[33:18] do it for like already built >> already constructed?
[33:21] » So, sold off. like that small or the new pavilion and the smaller one down there.
[33:26] » You could be it could be full curl concrete or king's concrete
[33:31] » pavilion, you know, they'd have little placard on it.
[33:35] » That's kind of the name of the game.
[33:40] » Field, you know, >> Denny did the bench down there and stuff
[33:45] like that. But I just think that is something you guys could maybe discuss
[33:48] and start working towards >> even if you do one a year or something.
[33:52] You know, you don't have to do all the basketball all of them at once, you
[33:56] know. But >> do we have do we have company signs
[34:00] across the outfield fence right now? >> Social use that's all switcher sports.
[34:04] » That's all switcher sports >> and they'll get changed again. Yeah, we
[34:07] got more sponsors, different sponsors this coming year.
[34:12] And all I do is I send them an email and have them sign fill out a spreadsheet,
[34:16] you know, like, you know, with their donation and then I, you know, contact
[34:19] them and yeah, they mail a check or send drop it off at city hall
[34:23] » because there's a lot of parks that do that that have the all of them across
[34:26] those. >> Well, the you could sponsor the dugouts.
[34:30] » Yep. So then Yep. We have dugout sponsorships then also like yearong
[34:34] sponsorships and then Yeah. >> And it's a yearly fee for them like if
[34:38] they want to keep the sign up. >> So Yep. that comes with the yearly fee
[34:41] and then the dugout fee and then we just have a little bit more extra I wouldn't
[34:45] say perks but just some other things for like the dugout sponsors and then
[34:48] there's seasonal sponsors but they're all different
[34:52] » but you also got to remember that's separate from yeah
[34:56] » so we could yeah >> test for the sponsors or like the like
[35:00] the naming rights part of it if we if we want to move forward with this small
[35:06] park and get another like milestone project. We could do the if you want to
[35:12] look into like the or you know make us our QR code and we'll say looking for
[35:18] donations we're going to put a pavilion at the small park and you can have
[35:23] naming rights and then you the largest donor gets naming rights.
[35:28] » You know what I mean? So it's while we're while we're fundraising then it
[35:32] just keeps track of oh this person donated $5,000. Their name's going on
[35:36] it. >> What do you want? We just have to make
[35:39] sure that that gets sent to businesses, >> right?
[35:41] » Yeah. >> Well, probably the easiest way is to put
[35:45] it on Squisher Strong. >> I mean, if we want to get people excited
[35:49] about, oh, we're going to get a pavilion there. That's nice.
[35:52] » Oh, we could be it could be named after our family.
[35:55] » Yeah. >> Should we should we when we do that,
[35:57] should we post it like there there's a goal of $20,000, you know, or something
[36:01] like that? I would just leave it open-ended because it's all going to go
[36:04] to the parks and wreck. >> Yeah.
[36:05] » Fund. Well, they have people has to have to know that there's an end
[36:11] » because they'll be like, "Well, if I'm donating to the pavilion, how much
[36:15] » we don't have." >> Well, yeah. But what if someone's like,
[36:17] "I want naming rights and donate 20,000. You don't want everybody else to keep
[36:20] donating to it?" >> I I think you'd have to put that in like
[36:23] the language that once our goals met, the other funds will be just donated to
[36:28] parks in general because if they put a donation in and commit it to that
[36:31] project, you have to use it on that project. And we don't need like a, you
[36:35] know, $500,000 pavilion, right? We could do a community center, right, for that.
[36:40] [laughter] >> But,
[36:43] um, >> I think that's the way to reach
[36:46] everyone, though. I mean, it's Yeah, >> we can send out mail. We can mail
[36:50] whatever we want, but we're still going to miss somebody and they're going to be
[36:52] like, "Well, we didn't get we didn't get anything mailed to us." So, when you see
[36:56] it on Facebook or Swisser Strong, at least people are excited about it and
[37:00] want to participate. Do we still send out to some of the members or some of
[37:05] the citizens in town? Do we still send out their bill?
[37:08] » Yes, I send out 208 bills a month. >> See, that'd be something like because
[37:13] you got to remember like a lot of them people that you send it out to might be
[37:16] older people >> that have some money.
[37:18] » Yeah. >> You know, they you might want to put
[37:20] like a little memo in the next one. >> Yeah. I do the newsletter out in the
[37:24] back. >> Happened to be doing that, you know, at
[37:26] the time. And they might say, "Hey, we'll throw 500 bucks into this or
[37:30] whatever, you know." >> So, what do you think the next project
[37:33] we should think about doing? The small pavilion right here.
[37:36] » We'll talk about that again. >> Yeah.
[37:41] » We have We have any other things we want to discuss as far as goals? I I mean is
[37:47] everyone in agreement that parks and wreck should be doing donations
[37:52] doing the planning for parks and
[37:57] » I haven't been up to the park. How how close are we how close is dying doctors
[38:00] being done this week? Yeah. >> Yeah. I didn't know if they got backed
[38:03] up because of the rain. >> They did a little bit but they allotted
[38:06] some time and so it should be done by Friday. But I would also say like
[38:10] council like if parks and come with us with a recommendation
[38:15] if the money and the funds are there we should push it through
[38:21] » just like with PNC when they make recommendations on go forward with this
[38:25] we always follow that I think we should also trust
[38:28] » well a lot of times too when we vet that kind of stuff is you're getting again
[38:33] going back to quotes or whatever if you got like two or two or three things to
[38:38] put against each other. That helps us make a decision, too. And all the
[38:42] information that the council can get on any specific project or whatever, that's
[38:49] so the more information we get, the better it is. If and I will say if
[38:53] you're going I mean and I'm sure you guys have discussed it before but for
[38:57] for bids and I mean we'll do our best to hey we talked you know if Patty or I or
[39:03] whoever goes out and gets a bid this person's really excited about this or
[39:09] gave us way more information did but they're not the lowest bidder.
[39:13] » You can choose to not choose the lowest bidder.
[39:16] » Yeah was not the lowest bidder on the pavilion.
[39:18] » No I I get that. I just want to make sure that
[39:21] » Yeah. I think what HR Green does is they solicit bids for our infrastructure.
[39:27] They provide us with the list of all the bids and then they make a recommendation
[39:30] based on what was in the bids. They compare them all. So, I think that'd be
[39:34] a good like structure to be like, here's all the bids. This is my this is our
[39:38] recommendation. So, they have all the information.
[39:43] » Anything else? uh liquid. Did you ever figure out the water at the park up
[39:48] there and good and bad? >> Yes, it um it did come back um no
[39:52] nitrates, no bacteria, but it did come back for three different PAS chemicals.
[39:57] Um so if we put a water fountain up there, it does need to be filtered. It's
[40:01] about $6,000 for a filtered water fountain.
[40:04] » $6,000. >> Yeah.
[40:07] [clears throat] >> Yep. But there is a grant um there is a
[40:10] grant through Delta Dental that they provide public drinking water sources.
[40:14] They provide the fountain to you and you just have to pay to get it installed. So
[40:18] I'm waiting for that to open up I think in October. I have it on my calendar and
[40:21] then I'm going to write that grant to try to get that a free fountain. But
[40:26] yeah, >> it would be nice to have water there.
[40:29] » Yeah. I just I I know we had one there before, but in my good conscience, I
[40:35] couldn't be like, "Put it back up knowing that city hall also tested
[40:39] positive for the same three chemicals." >> Take it down because any of that I think
[40:43] » it was broken or something. >> Yeah.
[40:46] » So, >> yep.
[40:48] But yes, it is on my radar. >> We're ready to move on then. We'll go to
[40:53] D which is flow an approval process with city city council which I think we kind
[41:00] of you kind of touched on that. >> Yeah. Basically make recommendations to
[41:04] council um or usually you guys will give me your minutes, your recommendations
[41:11] and then if it's already something you guys want to do I if it's small enough I
[41:14] put it on the claims list. If it's bigger like a project, then I will put
[41:18] it as an agenda item and you guys are welcome to come to council and talk
[41:21] about why or just submit a note with it and then we make the purchases. So I I
[41:30] or Brian will make the purchase.
[41:38] Okay, we'll move on. We develop five year
[41:42] goals.
[41:46] » What are some things that you guys want to see and obviously we'll have to
[41:51] budget for as well. Um, but I think it's just like we have with our roads. We
[41:57] have a 20-year road management plan. I think we should start developing a 5 10
[42:02] year parks plan as well like this is what because like there's a that park as
[42:09] P said nothing happened to it for 20 years now we're trying to do a lot fast
[42:16] and it's definitely obviously not feasible but at the same time like Mal
[42:21] and I and Patty were talking one day like we have a budget amount for you
[42:25] plus we have through the Swiss are open like 10,000 almost dollars that are
[42:30] still sitting there to be spent, which hopefully we spend tonight. Um, but you
[42:36] know, I plan on keep I think Adam's going to keep doing the open with me and
[42:40] we raised about 4 to 5,000 every year towards that, but I think there's a lot
[42:45] of things that still need done. So, we need to I think create a longevity plan
[42:49] here.
[42:53] Is there any type of leagues or anything you guys would interested in like
[42:57] getting started up there or anything like that? Well,
[43:02] Adam doesn't know yet, but I think Adam's going to help me start a
[43:05] volleyball league next year. I'll sign in.
[43:09] I I mean, a lot of these communities have volleyball leagues.
[43:11] » Yeah. >> Uh I was looking at doing eight teams
[43:14] Monday nights, doing it like seven weeks long where you play every team once,
[43:18] then you have a tournament at the end of the year, something like that. But
[43:21] Monday night seemed to work. I kind of already talked with Sonia to see if I
[43:24] could get like a special in the bar, you know, for or at the Legion or whatever,
[43:28] you know, to get people then to come into town. But just something that one
[43:32] time if you go up and watch, but I've talked to a lot of people and they're
[43:36] like, "Oh, I'd put a team together. I'd put a team together." You know, I think
[43:39] start small. Probably need even a half load of fresh sand on top of it just to
[43:45] make it all nice and good. But um that's something I'd probably look at starting
[43:50] in the spring. >> There there's a you know there's a we
[43:52] could always start like a a five or six week kickball league too. That's that's
[43:57] going over well in in in Elely I know for a fact. I mean it's going over good
[44:01] there. That's a you know you could do that like on a Thursday night or a
[44:05] Sunday night or something. Three games and or you know I mean we only got one
[44:10] diamond and they play on three or four over there but still I mean it could be
[44:13] a small one. >> No problem. I'll advise you with on all
[44:16] these leagues. You have to have someone that
[44:19] » kind of grabs bull by the horn and actually runs it,
[44:22] » right? Like it's great to have all these ideas, but
[44:25] » it's a lot of work. >> It is. And that's like even me doing the
[44:28] volleyball league. I'm like, man, do I really want to commit my
[44:31] » spring and early summer to it? Yes and no. And when you get rain out of all
[44:36] this, I mean, even have an adult league, so sports, but to
[44:40] » Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. Well, I think once we get
[44:44] the pickle ball courts there, maybe you could get pickle ball.
[44:48] » We've had like so we had one last winter and we went over to Shyville as adult
[44:53] and the parents were like, "Hey, we want to do pickle ball." And so for sure
[44:56] sports, you know, we >> created a little thing. I mean, and they
[45:00] kept on asking us, "Hey, you going to do it again?" So, I mean, that's I think
[45:04] adults wanted people are wanting to do that. It's just
[45:07] » it it just takes time, right? You know, and a lot of Yeah.
[45:12] There's so much potential. >> Yeah.
[45:15] » Yeah. >> I think in terms for a five-year goal
[45:19] plan is like facilities wise like what do we want to purchase,
[45:23] » right? Project projectwise the the leagues can come.
[45:27] » Yeah. as they >> and that's why like even like the next
[45:30] line item when we start talking about new equipment um one thing I really
[45:34] advise and hope is like you guys would take a layout of it and think all right
[45:39] in year one we're going to purchase this and put it here because then in year
[45:44] three we're going to build put in new swings over here or whatnot but instead
[45:49] of us just start like all right there's an open space here let's do that which
[45:52] then compromises the yeah the rest of this layout Because
[45:57] honestly the railroad ties some of that up there.
[46:00] » Well, the railroad ties are getting replaced.
[46:02] » They are getting replaced. The actually the the new ones are getting delivered
[46:06] this week. So those will all be gone. >> And plus I think I think on our plan too
[46:11] is we're redoing the fence. Not this year but
[46:14] » that's right kind of saying >> around the pickle ball court. You know
[46:17] the fencing is we couldn't do it all this year because we're doing the pickle
[46:21] ball court but that was something we >> see this is some stuff that you guys all
[46:26] knew about. We're in the park. We have no idea.
[46:29] » That's why I think you guys should be bringing your ideas to us instead of
[46:32] Yeah. >> Yeah. Because you feel like we're
[46:35] getting the information from you guys, >> so we're not communicating together,
[46:39] which I drove by the park and I was like, "What in the
[46:44] » heck is going on with the basketball parking?"
[46:47] » I had no idea. That's where I just think, you know, even for the citizens,
[46:51] we're like, we could be like, hey, next year we're putting up
[46:54] » pavilion at the small park. In two years, we're redoing the fencing around
[46:58] the basketball court, right? >> And then we could just refer to this
[47:01] plan and say, this is what's coming. >> Then we can put it in our budget, too.
[47:05] » We do kind of do that with the budget, but our all of our large projects I have
[47:09] on that spreadsheet, and then I if we don't do them that year, I move them to
[47:12] the next page and it's for the next year. So,
[47:15] » stuff that we need to share with the rest. citizens that nobody has any idea.
[47:21] » So fiscal year, >> how do you say 28? Next year, next July
[47:27] 1st. >> Like would a goal for you guys be to try
[47:31] and get a pavilion up here at the small park?
[47:34] » I think that would help the farmers markets to have the bands could play
[47:38] under it. People could sit under it. >> I know the daycarees would love to be
[47:41] able to do picnics up here, >> right? Um, and even families could use
[47:46] it for like say they got some people coming in or whatever.
[47:49] » Yeah, it'd be another like revenue s even though it's small, it's still a
[47:52] revenue source like >> I would say if we commit to that, we
[47:56] also know that that's probably going to take up almost all our budget because it
[48:00] is a big but at the same time if we raise $20,000 in donations, then we can
[48:05] turn around and be like, "All right, now we can purchase two more playground
[48:08] equipment." Yeah, >> but but I think in the last year, year
[48:12] and a half, we've done a lot. We've already spent a lot of money up there.
[48:15] So, it wouldn't be I mean, you guys might not need nothing up there next
[48:19] year, you know. >> We also have to look for the trees that
[48:23] have to come down and really put it otherwise back up in its place.
[48:27] » It does need trees up there. >> I mean, that's another thing though that
[48:31] we can uh grants, donations, memorials. Um just put five.
[48:37] » Yeah. Well, and we've taken a lot down.
[48:42] » I've taken a lot down. >> Yeah,
[48:46] » that might be another one, too, where people would donate a tree and decorate
[48:50] someone. Yeah. >> You know, that's kind of a fine line
[48:53] there, too. Do we want the big >> benches? Do we want this or that? You
[48:57] know, everyone's like, well, you have to come up with an idea for a bench. Well,
[49:00] every you might have a different idea for a bench that memorializes your
[49:04] family than what I have. Mhm. >> So, you kind of got a fine line there
[49:08] what you want. >> Yeah. And especially like with the
[49:11] person that's donating, you might want to like
[49:13] » go over it with them and not just say, "Hey, this is what we're buying." Yes.
[49:16] » And they like don't want that, you know? >> We could also make up like a portfolio
[49:20] of some sort like, "Hey, if you want a memorial tree, these are the options."
[49:25] And you know, you donate the money, we'll do everything else. And then we
[49:29] can work with Tipsky or something and like have trees that they know that
[49:34] we'll get or benches. Pick out two or three that we like for the park and
[49:37] these can be memorial benches. You can donate them.
[49:42] » So are we in agreement like fiscal year 28
[49:46] focus should be on this but they'll hang up at the little park.
[49:50] » Yeah, I would say I mean I would shoot for that. That way and moving forward we
[49:56] can work on a more well a more elongated plan I guess because we're not gonna
[50:03] come up with a fiveyear plan in tonight 30 minutes.
[50:08] » I was thinking like if if ne 28 we focus on
[50:13] uh a pavilion here this way you're 29 let's get all new fencing around the
[50:19] basketball court or something like that. Right. One thing I would also like to
[50:23] see is up around the ball diamonds, uh, it'd be back towards home plate,
[50:27] there's these two awkward little gravel triangles
[50:32] that just like that probably wouldn't be a lot of money concrete wise to do like
[50:37] in the next year to just have someone cuz then it's all concrete back behind
[50:41] there. And then I think we set aside a concrete budget.
[50:46] » We talked about that. and just keep coming away from the dugouts out so that
[50:51] in five or 10 years that's all concrete back behind there behind the trail to
[50:56] get ri you know eliminate all that gravel stuff.
[50:59] » Mhm.
[51:02] » Even if we set aside 5,000 and talk to anybody Frank Hart and say all right
[51:08] 5,000 how far can you come out this way? >> We'll just keep doing that every year.
[51:12] You know, is there anything we could do for the
[51:18] um between the farmer and the park with the uh post that he's put up?
[51:25] » Build a wall. >> He has asked he has approached the city
[51:28] and asked us to put up a fence at some point in the past. I don't know what
[51:34] went on with that. >> We got a quote for that at that time,
[51:37] too. There was a quote that ran all the way down the first base, all the way
[51:42] behind home plate, all the way down, all the way back and it was astronomical. It
[51:47] was huge. >> I don't think against the the field
[51:50] would be so bad, but just like kids are always running on his driveway.
[51:54] » He has been a lot better in the past year.
[51:58] » But it would be nice if we could get rid of those
[52:01] » Yes. >> pokes it look a lot nicer. So, I mean
[52:05] that'd be something like >> honestly why wouldn't you just instead
[52:08] post why don't we just put a rope there or something so it looks foolish with
[52:12] those posts there >> but that' be like the thing like five
[52:16] years from now do we want to is that our big ticket item at the park too just all
[52:20] along his driveway put a 4 foot high fence or
[52:24] » 30 foot high six foot high I don't know >> more advertising surface there
[52:30] » yeah side for himself.
[52:35] » As long as he weed eats his side going to keep it nice, right?
[52:40] » But like that's the other thing like those swings. I think I was a little kid
[52:44] on those swings like and not only like the swings themselves, it's it's just a
[52:49] huge structure that takes up a lot of space where I think we could still have
[52:53] the swings but reduce the amount of space that the swings take up which
[52:57] would then lead to more playground equipment. Right. Those swings come from
[53:02] the Swisser school. I have no idea. They might have that long ago.
[53:08] » Remember when they had teeter totter up there?
[53:14] » Go around. They had a teeter. >> So if we get the funding for the
[53:17] pavilion before Tony made there any way we can just go ahead and get that
[53:23] approved and go for it. >> Oh yeah. If we get donations or
[53:28] anything, anything can be expedited. I can change anything but property taxes.
[53:32] So if we get if we get the money for it. Yeah, we can't. Yeah.
[53:36] » Yeah. >> Um but yeah, if you guys get enough
[53:40] donations for a pavilion or for anything,
[53:43] » we know how much it would be to whatever.
[53:46] » I I did ask Riss when he was doing the large one. um it would need concrete,
[53:50] but it if it was the size of the smaller pavilion at the other park um and needed
[53:56] concrete, it would be about 26,000 is what he kind of just ballparked it. So
[54:01] » for total >> total for a small pavilion and the
[54:05] concrete, >> right?
[54:06] » Cuz that that one was only 20 the large one over there was 21 and this wouldn't
[54:10] even need all of the things that has, >> right? We already we we have electrical
[54:15] we can tie into from city hall be smaller open ceiling
[54:19] » for brand new for that's >> say 30,000's our goal
[54:28] » there's enough money this time to get there
[54:34] » yeah I I know this playground equipment um is deteriorating as well obviously
[54:40] you can see it's super faded things are chipping off of it and it's going to
[54:42] start to rust, too. So, that's like stuff that we need to start thinking
[54:46] about maintaining so we don't have a big rusty structure right there.
[54:50] » You're talking about this new one? >> This one? Yeah. Yeah. The rubber comes
[54:53] off and like it just chips away and it's already starting to get some rust in
[54:57] some spots. All the plastic's fading. I think it just wasn't maintained from day
[55:01] one. I don't even know what the maintenance is for that, but I'm sure
[55:05] there's something to keep it nice. Wasn't that a big donation from
[55:12] » didn't cop charge Mary did >> I think uh
[55:17] Schmidt construction demmet I think he paid for that
[55:21] » that were donated >> there's there's some there's some names
[55:24] on the bench too that did some donations for it
[55:27] » it says back on the rock I think um there's a rock like a memorial rock
[55:33] » I think that was just the rock you don't >> yeah it wasn't for the park.
[55:37] » There's some plat out there. >> Yeah.
[55:39] » Yeah. So, it's all >> Could we do like a home run derby and
[55:44] have like a thing like a all come together? I mean, I'm happy to open up
[55:49] something on Swisser Sports and then have all that money go to,
[55:53] you know, but I don't have anything I don't know anything about a home run
[55:56] derby, but all that, you know, having up at the Castic Park and raising
[56:01] the funds for >> something
[56:06] you think about. I don't know. I mean, >> everything's open.
[56:10] » Yeah. >> Yeah. I I think that's a big thing is
[56:12] like with parks and recck with not having youth sports now that I feel like
[56:16] that should be the main focus of like raising money making plans for parks and
[56:21] what do >> you mean not having sports now?
[56:22] » Because youth sports is its own separate you know they're not managing that
[56:27] anymore. [laughter]
[56:29] I think that once we get the once we get the page or however we're wanting to
[56:34] structure getting the funding or reaching out for donations for that then
[56:39] what you don't need necessarily need anybody's permission to do anything like
[56:43] Cody and I could go up and start the hey Monday
[56:48] uh we're going to start a you know a volleyball thing and the donations for
[56:52] this year are going to go to the new pavilion you know and then you just
[56:56] bring the bring the money in or however Yeah.
[56:59] » So then then something's already concrete like, hey, you can go look at
[57:03] what we're raising money for. This home run derby is going to all the funds
[57:08] raised is going to go to that. It makes it easier for you to
[57:12] » to put something out there to where people can actually see like, oh, okay,
[57:16] that that's where it's going. >> One other not big ticket thinking, but
[57:20] decent ticket item that I was thinking about is the shed down there. It is so
[57:25] small. It is so cramped. Um, my dad just bought one of those prefab
[57:32] sheds for down at his cabin. I mean, it's a good size shed and I just text
[57:37] him asked him and it was like 4,000. So, >> I mean, I thought you like a
[57:42] » You could probably even reach out to like Iowa sheds and be like, "Hey, so
[57:46] sure you sports or the parks and wreck want to upgrade this? Would you donate
[57:50] one >> or or donate half
[57:53] match the other half or something?" But I think even like something like that,
[57:57] like my dad has one back behind his house now, which I think that would
[58:01] probably be ample enough room that we then go in build shelves in it so that
[58:06] everything has a spot. >> Yes.
[58:08] » And there's even a cement pad right next to that shed that's down there. So I
[58:12] mean, >> yeah.
[58:14] » Well, you know, you could do is >> sell the shed that's there to someone.
[58:20] Somebody would want it or buy it. >> Is it on concrete?
[58:23] » Yes. It is. And I know Prairie, I don't know
[58:27] who you would contact, but Prairie has like a construction thing that kids come
[58:31] out and builds. >> I've been trying to get a hold of them
[58:33] to build us picnic tables. They never call you back. I've been trying for
[58:37] months. >> Yeah. They do houses and everything.
[58:40] » Yeah. Well, they the Army Corps of Engineers, all the high schools in Iowa
[58:44] built picnic tables and donated them to the Iowa to the core of engineers. So,
[58:48] all of those spots at Sandy Beach have new tables. And so I've called the Army
[58:52] Corps of Engineers to get their contact information and I've left messages and
[58:56] yeah, >> I've been trying
[59:02] » like that's where like even when we do our Swisser open like if we can raise
[59:07] 4,000 I would like to donate said let's just go get a shed right now.
[59:11] » Like I get we could probably fund raise and do other ways for it but
[59:15] » here's $4,000. just go purchase it, move that other one, and let's get a shed set
[59:20] in place that >> can actually handle this.
[59:22] » So, you can decide if you need to keep that other concrete pad or something.
[59:26] » No, I was going to put the pitching machine in there during the winter then,
[59:29] too. I would >> pitching machine is in there during
[59:31] because we don't have anywhere else to put it and all that stuff stays in there
[59:34] because there's nowhere else to >> And that's in their agreement, too, that
[59:38] they can use the shed. >> Yep.
[59:41] » Yeah. Which we're very thankful for. It'd be nice if you guys had and I don't
[59:46] know who does the who always does the field up there. The city guys do or you
[59:50] guys do. >> We spray the lines and buy the paint,
[59:53] but the city guys >> do the
[59:56] » mowing and the drag. >> The mowing the grass.
[59:59] » Would it be nice if you guys had your own little mower or what? Not mower, but
[1:00:03] you had some so you could drag the infield. Yeah,
[1:00:05] » we had a little tractor or something up there. So you guys
[1:00:08] » I know's been doing a fantastic job. We've been
[1:00:13] doing Yes. >> Like when I had my tournament, he asked
[1:00:15] like what day I started cuz he wanted to make sure the field was drugged and then
[1:00:19] he we played games Wednesday, then he drugged the game on Friday. Yeah.
[1:00:23] » He has been doing a phenomenal job. >> Whenever that guy asks for a raise,
[1:00:27] » don't deny it. That guy like he's done more in two months than anybody has that
[1:00:34] we've had. >> You got here.
[1:00:36] » Oh my gosh. It's amazing. He does doing such a good
[1:00:41] job. So, is there any other like bigger items that you guys have discussed at
[1:00:47] your parks and recck meeting that you guys are seeing down the line that you
[1:00:51] would like? >> Oh, we we wanted to get something to
[1:00:55] replace that slide that they took out. I think you have one in your package
[1:00:59] » like yellow slide. >> Yeah.
[1:01:02] » Yeah. >> So, Mallerie has this.
[1:01:05] » Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah.
[1:01:07] And that is nice, but that is a lot more than the slide that we were facing.
[1:01:15] » But you know, I think there's one or two slides up there right now. I know
[1:01:18] there's one for sure >> on the big
[1:01:24] » There's one that's actually like a tree that can be flipped over to be a slide.
[1:01:28] So >> probably
[1:01:30] close to that. >> I wouldn't just like little kids trying
[1:01:34] to climb. I get like your >> I don't think it's meant to be climbed
[1:01:36] on. >> Is it? I think so.
[1:01:39] » I think it is. >> I mean, it has an opening, but I
[1:01:42] » I think like maybe I can tell Brian just flip that. So, it's another
[1:01:46] » Yeah, >> just something for kids.
[1:01:49] » They probably put it like that to make it elongate the lifpan of it. They're
[1:01:54] like they're going to need when they built it. They're going to need another
[1:01:58] slide because they're not going to do anything up here for 20 years. So do you
[1:02:01] think we should get some other thing or what's or should we go with the slide or
[1:02:08] » that's our next um item on F. So for our five-year goals, anything to add to
[1:02:14] fiscal year 28 and beyond. So not this year. This is already in that in this
[1:02:19] year. Anything else to
[1:02:23] » is this thing already ordered? >> No.
[1:02:25] » No. >> I put it on council's agenda. you guys
[1:02:29] wanted to discuss it at this meeting, so that's why it's on here. So,
[1:02:33] » what do you guys all think of this? >> I'll just
[1:02:36] agenda item. >> Um,
[1:02:40] I guess for me, I'd say pavilion next year, two years, look at redoing the
[1:02:44] basketball fence because it is >> So, they're just doing the court.
[1:02:48] They're not doing They're not doing the fence.
[1:02:50] » They're doing a two Yeah. two and a half inch overlay of basketball. Okay.
[1:02:54] » Two pickle ball courts, one half basketball.
[1:02:57] » I don't know. maybe 5 years from now just to spread it out is they doing the
[1:03:03] fencing behind home plate that's that's getting pretty damaging.
[1:03:07] » So like all that fencing there >> um I don't think that would be the
[1:03:12] » How's the fence going down first and third? Is that still pretty good?
[1:03:15] » That's not bad. >> It's not bad. I'm curious to see what
[1:03:18] the like in the infield when he fills it in
[1:03:22] like the there's that black thing tile there. So yeah, that'll be interesting
[1:03:26] to see. But I think something like whether it's along first and third or
[1:03:31] just back behind home plate, whatever it may be. But are they uh so they're not
[1:03:36] put they're not putting the fencing back up there? They took it down, right? They
[1:03:40] will. They are. >> They are putting it back up. Okay.
[1:03:42] » They'll put that back up. But I say >> well I was thinking I mean if we're
[1:03:46] hitting my if we want to do keep going with the larger projects and see like
[1:03:51] obviously 28 we can do if you're talking the next physical budget uh like when we
[1:03:58] do that fence to do some sort of structure on above it like I know like
[1:04:07] this this guy has the removable one but a fixed like if you're if you're doing
[1:04:12] it, you might as well not put just chain link fence up. You know what I mean?
[1:04:18] Like if we're looking for those larger projects to keep this momentum going,
[1:04:24] » you know, like we'll pick >> pick one
[1:04:27] » like milestone project per year, right? So pavilion, little little park
[1:04:33] pavilion. the next fiscal year we can do fiscal fiscal
[1:04:38] » fiscal uh you know yeah we're going to put fencing in up there the smaller
[1:04:43] concrete stuff like the budgetary like improvements for like the um like the
[1:04:50] baseball diamonds but if like that can get lumped in there but if we're looking
[1:04:54] for like a project a year you know what I mean like that's what I was
[1:04:58] » I just think every year with concrete we just said this much every year concrete
[1:05:02] at the >> ball diamond
[1:05:03] till it's done >> and then just pick one larger like
[1:05:07] » and that's something you guys can talk about at future meetings and
[1:05:11] » but it'd be nice to just you know by winter be able to say here's our
[1:05:16] fiveyear >> plan so that when people ask us be like
[1:05:19] oh behind home plate that's getting done in uh three years. Yeah,
[1:05:24] » but that would but that would give us an idea too when we enter into our budget
[1:05:28] sessions. >> We can look at what you have for your
[1:05:32] fiveyear plan >> and we can look at it and say, "Well, we
[1:05:35] can budget x amount." We may be able to knock off a little more than what you're
[1:05:40] actually looking at. >> Especially if we if we're if we add in
[1:05:43] like the fundraising totals and everything else, all of a sudden we get
[1:05:46] $20,000 donated. Well, it's not really costing us $20,000.
[1:05:50] » That's right. Yeah. Now we could do another piece of playground equipment.
[1:05:53] » Exactly. We could use >> if we don't know what that is going into
[1:05:57] budget, we usually if we look at what we did previous year and that's what
[1:06:02] carries in. >> Is is there any more money that needs to
[1:06:04] be put into that concession stand up there?
[1:06:08] » I don't think it's it's >> what it is. It's so
[1:06:11] » Did the floors get painted? >> No.
[1:06:15] And I got a couple of estimates and it was like $2,500
[1:06:20] » to get it painted like to hire someone to paint it.
[1:06:23] » Yeah. But all the salt would be >> solid. Yeah.
[1:06:27] » Oh, in the in the actual con in the bathrooms.
[1:06:30] » In the bathroom. >> I honestly think we just bite the bullet
[1:06:34] on that and do it because they smell so bad and you'll never get rid of it
[1:06:39] unless you tear it out or seal it up. So like we just have to it's that epoxy
[1:06:45] stuff is expensive unless you do it yourself and it's still pricey
[1:06:50] » bud just put on next year's budget that's
[1:06:53] » must do and that has to be >> because that's the the only way to get
[1:06:57] rid of it is to tear the concrete out or you have to seal it off with like a
[1:07:01] physical like that epoxy stuff otherwise it's always going to smell. Would it be
[1:07:05] reasonable enough to have you guys come up with a list before before the
[1:07:08] November meeting so we have at least two months to kind of iron out some of the
[1:07:13] stuff before going into budgets? >> We're good at list. Yeah, we'll get
[1:07:18] » You're good at this. [laughter]
[1:07:21] » Okay. Anything else on the five-year goals?
[1:07:25] I'm going to move on to discussion of possible approvals of estimate for
[1:07:30] equipment at Castic Park. So, I know you guys had um asked for the
[1:07:35] prices on these three slides. Um but then when Patty put the post on Swisser
[1:07:39] Strong and I got that list, I kind of made an executive decision and asked for
[1:07:44] pricing on a different piece of equipment that was more aligned with
[1:07:48] what people were asking for. Um it is more expensive. We do have the money for
[1:07:53] it. Um there is money um from the Swiss are open that has been donated um that
[1:07:59] we've never used. I mean, it's all in the same general fund, so it's just
[1:08:03] sitting there in our general fund. Um, so we would have the funds to purchase
[1:08:09] the more expensive. This doesn't include installation or freight. Um, I talked to
[1:08:13] Brian to see if he would be comfortable installing it and he said he we would
[1:08:18] just need to get with the manufacturer and see what that looked like um to see
[1:08:22] if he'd be comfortable doing it. So, there may be more cost involved. Um, but
[1:08:26] I think it's u definitely doable with our budget this year for parks. We had a
[1:08:30] little bit left over from a project we're not doing for roads for local
[1:08:33] options sales tax. Um, and we should be able to absorb that.
[1:08:38] » This would like give people the monkey bars.
[1:08:41] » Yeah. If four climbers and a monkey bars through the middle and
[1:08:45] » they say freestanding like once you put it up, you don't have to do any like
[1:08:49] » um post or anything. >> This is Oh
[1:08:54] the freestanding slides are on their own that I think they're just because
[1:08:58] they're not attached to anything else. Um, I will say I asked this play pro to
[1:09:04] I took a picture of the structure we have up there and I asked him could we
[1:09:09] add on to this for $12,000 instead instead of putting a separate structure.
[1:09:15] Um, because like Cody said, some of the things just take up a lot of space up
[1:09:19] there. Um, he hasn't gotten back to me on that. he wanted to come out and
[1:09:23] actually take a look at it and measure and like see what we could add on. So,
[1:09:29] I mean, we could wait, we could do this. Um, we could do a slide,
[1:09:35] but I just thought with what everyone had asked for, the majority was monkey
[1:09:39] bars that we could bar, >> you know, with no price being put on
[1:09:43] there, you know. >> But you found things.
[1:09:47] » Yeah, there you could put in down. >> Yeah, there's a ton of things. Um,
[1:09:52] » but that's where I just think like you take like a a layout of that park and
[1:09:56] say, "All right, here's where we have. This is where this infinity wing is
[1:10:00] going to go. This is where a future zip line will go. If we replace the swings,
[1:10:04] this is where those would go. Maybe tear that stupid tire out."
[1:10:10] Just nature moved, I think. >> Um, Dusty did just comment. Um, he must
[1:10:15] be trying to talk, but it's not. I don't know if my volume's down. He said um on
[1:10:19] the five-year goals and plans. So going back one um he said um we should talk
[1:10:25] about how we want to structure the parks and wreck program for longer term
[1:10:31] growth. Um do we want to set a goal of developing a parks and w staff? How do
[1:10:36] we want to think about investing in the opportunities and organizing to grow
[1:10:39] most effectively? Um obviously a couple years ago um Shelley the previous clerk
[1:10:45] and um had moved Swisser Sports away from the city. I don't know why really
[1:10:51] um other than it's a lot of work financially aid like doing all the admin
[1:10:54] stuff. Um, but
[1:10:59] um, I had talked to Britney about I went to Fairfax and Fairfax has a concession
[1:11:03] stand and I know that it's hard to get volunteers. So, I asked Britney about
[1:11:07] even if we were to hire a high schooler to work in the concession stand whenever
[1:11:10] sports are going on to make it more consistent um, and things like that.
[1:11:15] That's one thing we talked about. I didn't even think to bring that up
[1:11:18] earlier, but um, so yeah, Dusty just commented that. So I don't know if
[1:11:22] anyone wants to make a comment on that while
[1:11:27] » I think in the four five years they're going to have to combine
[1:11:33] Swisser use for is going to have to come back to Swisser
[1:11:36] » just because why should one person volunteer all their time and effort and
[1:11:41] not get paid for it >> when it should be aligned all the other
[1:11:45] towns I believe are through the towns. So, whoever does that should be getting
[1:11:51] paid for it. >> That's where I was going to talk to you
[1:11:54] after this about like what is the long-term lookout of switches sports if
[1:11:59] we do bring it back. >> Maybe that should be a council agenda
[1:12:04] item because we actually have to get brought back to council on that. But
[1:12:07] then for council to figure out what does that paid position or temp position for
[1:12:12] concessions look like, >> right? So I don't know what all the
[1:12:17] duties would be required and I I guess I don't know about your
[1:12:21] longterm I'll send you right again don't think
[1:12:26] » I I want it to continue so it's not like you know it it it is a lot yeah but
[1:12:32] » yeah I mean the program has >> so maybe
[1:12:36] » gotten huge since we took over and since we got out of the city and you know when
[1:12:41] we took over us three Shelly you just yeah she was very proactive and
[1:12:48] just told us to you know yeah she did was kind of done dealing with with it
[1:12:52] » maybe put that on a paper counsel >> did that go through did that go through
[1:12:56] us at the same >> cuz I don't remember ever discussing
[1:13:00] » no it didn't so like I was very like bus and she had this reason why
[1:13:07] » well and honestly that would be a way for the city to make some money
[1:13:11] » yeah I feel like it's come back to >> yeah it's confusing having it be
[1:13:14] separate. I always get calls about Swisser youth sports um and like
[1:13:19] facilitate things with Britney and and it is fine. I'm happy to help. Um but it
[1:13:24] is confusing for people donating money like is it going to the city? Is it
[1:13:26] going to switcher sports? Are they the same like with the banners? Are those
[1:13:30] from the city? Are they you know >> well that just a way for the city to
[1:13:34] make money. Yeah. Then we have money to push to some of this stuff. When you say
[1:13:38] you want to get this on agenda coming up, how soon you thinking
[1:13:46] » like is it something that you'd like to be in place for next spring season or
[1:13:52] fall season? >> Probably like next fall.
[1:13:54] » Yeah. Which would actually >> like to talk about it or have it
[1:13:57] » you're not talking >> have a decision talking
[1:14:01] » 2027 2028ish. which football probably be the best because
[1:14:06] » it wouldn't affect our current budget as long as you sports state you sports.
[1:14:10] » I won't I won't say we won't. >> Yes, but I'm saying if by fall of 27
[1:14:18] that would actually be budget we could actually budget if
[1:14:23] » which in the first of the year we could look at. Yes, we're going to look at
[1:14:27] holding in the budget >> for for a position. I would have a
[1:14:32] conversation sooner because we're going to have our budget discussions, but we
[1:14:37] give parks and public works and all of that their budgets to look at and talk
[1:14:42] about. I give those in like October, November, and then we plan in December,
[1:14:48] we schedule in January for our budget sessions. So I feel like starting that
[1:14:51] conversation early with Britney what your goals are, what your plan is, time
[1:14:55] frame, finances kind of thing like >> I think starting it the earlier the
[1:15:01] better. >> So like the budget part of it is not
[1:15:07] » but the budget could also >> but it also could
[1:15:11] » it could pay part-time position for someone to that.
[1:15:16] » Yeah. Correct. >> Yeah. And that's where I look at it is
[1:15:18] if those youth programs could at minimum
[1:15:23] maintain a part-time position. That's fine.
[1:15:27] » Doesn't have to make a ton of money for the parks. It just has to be
[1:15:30] » Yeah, we're trying to make money with it. We're just trying to maintain it. It
[1:15:35] is what it is. >> For the kids, you know, I think it's a
[1:15:38] great thing. That's what it means. I mean
[1:15:41] » cuz the enrollment costs is around $40 or 35ish but that's just the cost of the
[1:15:46] jerseys >> and that's what we pay Ironside and you
[1:15:50] know the money that [laughter]
[1:15:54] » the money that that we get is for the sponsors you know it's Yeah. We ever
[1:15:59] thought about maybe not going such high-end
[1:16:03] on having >> no like how about
[1:16:05] » jerseys t-shirts? We have put out numerous
[1:16:10] emails and the parents love the jerseys. >> I will say I did vote for the jerseys
[1:16:15] because they love them. They have their name on them.
[1:16:17] » Love them. All the kids love them. >> Yes.
[1:16:22] » I don't have I don't know. the second September meeting be like enough time
[1:16:27] for you to >> second September
[1:16:30] » just to like have a conversation >> the second meeting September like the
[1:16:33] end of September. >> Yeah. It's
[1:16:35] » just like start that conversation and then we could council could work on that
[1:16:39] on our end and we could figure out a decision by
[1:16:42] » the 28th September 28th. End of September.
[1:16:47] » Yeah. How does Elely have their own their
[1:16:51] during this city? Every town, Fairfax, um it's all
[1:16:58] » Yes, >> Fairfax also has
[1:17:01] » eventually that's what's going to happen.
[1:17:03] » So, you might we might as well get a little ahead of the game here.
[1:17:06] » Oh, yeah. >> And with the town the size of Swisser,
[1:17:08] you might be able we might be able always have just a part-time person
[1:17:12] handle it, you know. But I will say that there's
[1:17:15] » a lot of people coming from a lot of towns because sports has run and it's
[1:17:21] just great. >> Yeah. Which is phenomenal.
[1:17:23] » My grandkids are from Neely. They came to play in the sports thing
[1:17:26] » and once registration closes, I mean, we get a whole handful of
[1:17:32] » Yeah. >> Yeah. It's all good.
[1:17:33] » Yeah. Which is great. It's It's really cost-effective and which is nice because
[1:17:38] I've put it out on like foster care pages and stuff because foster parents
[1:17:42] generally can't pay $400 for a kid to be on a club team, but they can pay $40 for
[1:17:46] this league. So, I'm always putting it out there.
[1:17:49] » I want it to be and I want it to always stay that. I don't want to have
[1:17:52] » Right. This is more like league. It's not competitive town, you know, league
[1:17:57] ball and stuff. don't want it to go. I mean, there's times that we did play
[1:18:01] summer ball with Elely, >> but it's not I want it to be here in I
[1:18:05] don't want to be a club sports. Like, that's not what it is all about. It's to
[1:18:09] get everybody here. We can create our own teams and have it. Yeah. But that's
[1:18:13] something else that we can discuss later. So,
[1:18:16] » okay, let's get back here to the approval of
[1:18:21] » of an estimate for equipment to cast. That's amazing. And that's what this is
[1:18:28] right here. >> Yes, that's the structure. It's the the
[1:18:30] very bottom line. >> Yeah.
[1:18:32] » Um the other three are just slides. It has a total, but the total is kind of
[1:18:36] irrelevant. Like we would not buy all of those.
[1:18:39] » Um >> what's
[1:18:43] what's the 29 for? >> That's what they're relevant. Yeah, they
[1:18:48] just did that because they sent me an estimate instead of sending me
[1:18:51] » four different ones. So, we we budgeted 5,000
[1:18:56] um and we have money on our um in our cash general fund for parks um sitting
[1:19:04] there. I think it's like 12,000 maybe. Um so, so we like I said, we do have the
[1:19:11] money to do this. Um we do have some leftover local option sales tax um on
[1:19:16] the fiscal year 27 budget sheet that lays out everything. I mean it's the
[1:19:22] beginning of the year so it's hard but >> what is part of 2026 playground sale
[1:19:28] like it's on sale that way >> where do you on the
[1:19:33] » expert freestanding wave slide >> on the
[1:19:38] » um >> yeah it's on sale yeah
[1:19:41] » that's cheaper >> y
[1:19:42] » oh from the 4 foot one >> and I'm not opposed to getting
[1:19:46] freestanding slides but you also don't want like some cobbled together part
[1:19:53] that we just start putting random slides all over
[1:19:56] » and form uniform and like it's like it was designed
[1:19:59] » the way it was designed >> like this I think could replace over
[1:20:03] there but I also want to say like what's our long-term like we do want to put in
[1:20:07] the zip lines where does that lay out on this structure too
[1:20:11] » and we have to I mean this company like just when we go with the same brand
[1:20:18] » like >> you know what I Oh, can't there's a
[1:20:22] really good deal on this slide over here. Well, it's a different brand,
[1:20:25] different color, different structure. It's going to look like look
[1:20:29] » we want to build one that's like you can add on to
[1:20:32] » just keep going around like you were saying and hey, let's replace this next
[1:20:36] little tight. What can we put there? And then it'll all kind of match after.
[1:20:39] » And there's there's nobody that's against I mean, if someday we had to
[1:20:43] make that area a little bit bigger either,
[1:20:45] » is there? I mean, >> I think I mean there there's room. Yeah,
[1:20:50] she go. >> Yeah, there's to go towards the
[1:20:52] volleyball and towards the trail a little bit. There's a tree right there,
[1:20:57] » but down much. >> That's the one that the branches keep
[1:21:01] falling off of. So, that's >> if you got rid of if you got rid of the
[1:21:05] the fire uh department's >> water ball thing,
[1:21:09] » water ball thing, you'd have plenty of room.
[1:21:13] um for the
[1:21:17] for this equipment here and it says here no freight and installation or not in
[1:21:22] this but >> do we have any idea what the freight
[1:21:25] cost is? >> I don't.
[1:21:28] » So you need to have roughly like 17,000 saved up.
[1:21:32] » Yeah. So if we approved this approved buying it, I'd just reach back out to
[1:21:36] him, get those prices and put it on the claims list before we order it. Um, that
[1:21:41] way you guys can see what the total price would be,
[1:21:43] » which is >> from Play Pro.
[1:21:47] » I know, but where are they located? >> We got that trailer. Maybe we can call
[1:21:52] it ourselves and say
[1:22:00] a hot shot. >> I don't know what today's price is the
[1:22:05] freight selection. Maybe we should table that so we can make a better decision.
[1:22:10] And maybe >> we need a map of exactly what's up there
[1:22:14] and then decide what we're going to put where.
[1:22:17] » Like they said that fireball thing, the >> water ball.
[1:22:21] » Yeah, >> fireball. Fireball. Whatever. Um if they
[1:22:24] could figure out what they're ever going to do with that either. I mean, could
[1:22:27] you put something >> if we table this? Could you reach out
[1:22:31] and find get an idea of what bring in the
[1:22:35] » I don't know. I can also we by then I could also probably have back an
[1:22:40] extension of what we have up there too. So we could potentially not do this at
[1:22:44] all if he can add on to the structure that's there.
[1:22:47] » I would also say to look at swing sets that might not be so big.
[1:22:53] » So big in terms of space like there's only
[1:22:58] five three regular and two baby swings in.
[1:23:01] » Yep. their life. If we could get a swing set that doesn't take up half the
[1:23:05] playground, >> uh, and like just even get not even
[1:23:09] buying it in the next two or three years, but having the dimensions so like
[1:23:13] you guys can lay it out and say the future swing set's only going to take up
[1:23:16] this much area. We can >> I have that information right now if you
[1:23:19] want me to grab it. [laughter] >> Um,
[1:23:23] » he wants to table that idea. >> Um, but yeah, I do have that. I I have
[1:23:28] some books that I've gotten from um some of the there's three big three big
[1:23:32] companies. >> I'd say share that with them or they
[1:23:34] » Yeah, they I've given them the books.
[1:23:41] » Yeah.
[1:23:44] » Do you guys like this? >> I I don't really have an opinion on it
[1:23:50] cuz my kids won't be playing on it. [laughter]
[1:23:53] » I think it's cool. I mean, >> I I don't really
[1:23:56] » A lot of people said they wanted multipart type things,
[1:23:58] » right?
[1:24:02] » I mean, I guess we could always put that on the Swish Facebook page and
[1:24:06] » have people vote comments. >> Yeah, we could put put a picture of
[1:24:10] three different options >> and give them some options. I mean, at
[1:24:14] least they had they have a way saying what we're doing. That's all
[1:24:19] better. >> Yeah.
[1:24:19] » Yeah. >> Yeah. I give like you said pick three
[1:24:23] » three three structures that are like the same size.
[1:24:25] » Another one that you showed me at Patty. >> Yeah, the dis the spaceship one. Yeah, I
[1:24:30] think that one might not match our colors at all, but um it was like 17,000
[1:24:34] too. >> Maybe it was
[1:24:36] » was that one that had the zipline and it it had two climb up two like spaceships
[1:24:42] and then you could climb up in or do monkey bars under.
[1:24:46] » Was that zipline one too? >> Yeah, there was a zipline too. If we get
[1:24:49] give them about three or four two or three options, we'll be ready.
[1:24:53] » But I think Can we decide about the tire tonight? Is the tire stay? Does the tire
[1:24:58] go? It's your guys decision. >> Yeah, this is your meeting, too.
[1:25:02] » Um, we should probably take that. >> We can definitely get sand to put in it.
[1:25:10] » The problem is the the the only reason why I vote get rid of it is because more
[1:25:15] and more branches fall out of that tree. It's just a matter of time till some
[1:25:21] kid's going to be playing in that and the branch is gonna There wasn't even a
[1:25:25] storm the other day and that there was a branch that just fell off the that tree.
[1:25:30] » I did see that people like those little digger things which
[1:25:33] » kind of go with the box thing. You could even set them up by the volleyball court
[1:25:37] that parents could just like pick it up and set it in there and they could dig
[1:25:40] with it. I mean, we have the space to do a sandbox, too. That it doesn't take
[1:25:44] much to do a sandbox. >> Can we move the tire and just make it
[1:25:49] all on its own with a sandbox? >> Yeah.
[1:25:53] » That's first part. >> Actually, on top of the water thing,
[1:26:00] » what what's it called? Fireman water. Yeah. Make it a sandbox right on the
[1:26:04] cement. And then you're not going to have it go into the dirt.
[1:26:07] » Perfect. >> You dig down, you hit cement, and you
[1:26:09] can't go any further. Sand sand sand toys for
[1:26:12] » yeah build build a structure around it >> box.
[1:26:16] » So smart. >> Okay. Any more discussion on equipment?
[1:26:24] » Did you guys make decision on tire? [laughter]
[1:26:30] » Sounds like you guys got you guys got four members here. You guys might
[1:26:34] » um I'm just thinking the safety as I mean we can keep it and move it but I
[1:26:39] mean >> like I'm just not leave it where it like
[1:26:42] that tree is literally falling apart.
[1:26:46] » Would you think Britney that kids play in it all or not?
[1:26:50] » Well they they sit in it because there's >> it's small.
[1:26:53] » It's nothing there's nothing to do. >> I think it's I think it's used a lot
[1:26:57] more by the little kids, you know, like little three, four, fiveyear-olds.
[1:27:01] » There's nothing in it. So either you get rid of it or you actually build a
[1:27:05] sandbox and put it in that little grass area in between the the park and that fl
[1:27:10] the >> fireman thing,
[1:27:12] » build a nice little square rectangle thingy and put sand in there. I mean or
[1:27:16] you have the volleyball court. I mean >> to me I
[1:27:20] » I would say get rid of the tire. >> I would just get rid of the tire but
[1:27:23] » get rid of the tire and build a sandbox. >> Yeah. Or just use the volleyball court.
[1:27:28] I mean yeah >> they don't do anything besides stand on
[1:27:31] it. Someone's going to get hurt, right? >> Is
[1:27:34] » Is that something we can have Brian just take out?
[1:27:36] » Yeah. >> Do we need to make a motion or anything?
[1:27:39] » Should I post that somebody can have it? >> Yeah.
