[0:12] 23rd.
[0:15] » Roll call please.
[0:17] » Mr. Sager
[0:18] » Here.
[0:18] » Mr. Graia
[0:19] » Here.
[0:19] » Mr. Joseph here.
[0:20] » Mr. Havis
[0:22] » Here.
[0:22] » Mr. Richtor. Mr. Mayu. Mr. Wells here.
[0:25] » Mr. Vial here.
[0:26] » Miss Hy here.
[0:27] » Miss Sat here.
[0:29] » Okay. Okay. Anyone wishing to address
[0:31] any item on the agenda?
[0:45] » All right. Adoption of minutes u from
[0:47] the meeting dated February 23rd. Um
[0:51] everybody had time to look over.
[0:52] » I so move.
[0:53] » I second.
[0:54] » So we got a motion by Miss K.
[0:58] Good.
[0:59] » Good evening everybody
[1:02] » To the Hustler Fire Department.
[1:05] » Turn to Michael.
[1:07] » You need a motion.
[1:10] » I'll make a motion.
[1:13] » And I'll second.
[1:15] » So we got motion by Mr. Engrai and a
[1:18] second by Mr. Joseph.
[1:21] » Mr. Joseph.
[1:22] » Yes.
[1:22] » Mr. Havis.
[1:24] » Yes.
[1:24] » Mr. Richel. Mr. Mayu. Yes.
[1:26] » Mr. Wells. Yes. Mr. Val.
[1:28] » Yes. Miss Hyde,
[1:29] » Yes.
[1:29] » Miss Sat,
[1:30] » Yes.
[1:30] » Mr. Sagra, yes.
[1:31] » Mr. Graia,
[1:32] » Yes.
[1:36] » Okay. And next is the monthly reports.
[1:38] We went over them in the finance
[1:40] committee. Um, we will be setting
[1:42] meetings up with the chiefs to go over
[1:43] their budgets. Um, whether they have an
[1:46] overage or an underage. Um, we'll go in
[1:48] there and discuss all that with them.
[1:51] Other than that, we're some of them are
[1:53] trending high. reason why we want to set
[1:55] meetings for them. We're in this first
[1:56] quarter, so we're going to sit down with
[1:59] them and go over it and see where we're
[2:00] at.
[2:02] » And that's all I have.
[2:05] » Okay, we need a motion to approve the
[2:08] monthly budget and check registers.
[2:10] Everybody had time to
[2:13] » Yeah, I I'll make that motion.
[2:18] » Motion by Mr. Havis, second by Mr. Mayu.
[2:21] » Mr. Havis.
[2:23] » Yes.
[2:23] » Mr. Richto,
[2:24] » Mr. Mayu, Mr. Wells, Mr. Vial, yes, Miss
[2:27] Hyde, yes,
[2:28] » Miss Cotat, yes, Mr. Sagra, Mr. Engra,
[2:30] yes,
[2:31] » Mr. Joseph,
[2:32] » Uh, let me say before I vote, that there
[2:34] were, David, correct me if I'm wrong,
[2:36] four fire department that had overages,
[2:39] right?
[2:39] » Yes, sir.
[2:40] » And he's going to meet with those fire
[2:41] department, those chiefs individually.
[2:44] But I suggested that if it's possible,
[2:48] whichever council member is in that
[2:50] district, you might want to invite them
[2:52] as well.
[2:53] » Oh, we are.
[2:54] » Okay. All right. Yes.
[2:56] » So, I have a question. We had
[2:58] departments with overages at the end of
[3:00] the year, correct? Are these the same
[3:02] departments that are already trending to
[3:04] be over for this year?
[3:05] » Um, they're all they're Yes, those plus
[3:10] a couple of other ones are starting to
[3:11] trend a little bit more. So, we're want
[3:13] to get ahead the ones that still have
[3:16] some money in their banks, in their
[3:17] capital, but try to get them back in
[3:20] line with that. And the ones that are
[3:21] overages, we just got to sit down and
[3:23] talk to them, see what what they can do.
[3:32] » And and and Bridget, just just to let
[3:34] you know that uh it's it's mostly
[3:39] what's turning up. Um, I I don't know
[3:42] what we're going to do to fix this, but
[3:44] it's a serious problem that the whole
[3:46] fire department has, and it's I don't
[3:49] think it's no fault of anybody in this
[3:50] room. It's just it is what it is. We got
[3:53] to figure out a way to try to fix it.
[3:56] » David, are we making any progress on the
[3:58] things that we had uh
[4:01] have to implement to try to help manage
[4:04] our insurance rates in the future?
[4:08] » Yes. So, he is shopping our insurance
[4:11] right now. Um, I asked last week to get
[4:14] all the drivers and driver's license
[4:16] numbers to get it to them because I'm
[4:18] pretty sure they were running MVRs.
[4:21] Didn't get them all. I just got some
[4:22] today. So, you know,
[4:25] got when information's asked for, we
[4:27] need to get it in. That's the problem.
[4:30] But, we got some of it in. Um,
[4:32] » Why aren't we getting it in?
[4:33] » I don't know. It seems like it takes
[4:36] forever to get some information.
[4:37] » Certain chiefs, not chief. I mean, we
[4:38] need to sit them down and talk with them
[4:40] just like we do with budgets. I mean, we
[4:41] have to get this information. I have no
[4:43] idea what chiefs you're talking about,
[4:44] it doesn't matter to me.
[4:46] » But this information is critical. I
[4:47] mean, the money we're spending on
[4:49] insurance now is just out of control.
[4:51] Yes.
[4:51] » And if we can't even get the chief to
[4:53] cooperate and send us the information we
[4:55] need, then we need to sit these guys
[4:57] down and, you know, give them an
[4:58] ultimatum
[4:59] » 100%.
[5:01] » Um, so on the driving, we did have a
[5:03] couple infractions. Um, and I told them
[5:06] I need to have some kind of We went over
[5:08] the SOGS. You got level one, twos, and
[5:11] threes. Level two is not wearing a seat
[5:13] belt. What's the consequences? That's
[5:16] where the chiefs need to get together
[5:17] and they need to come up with
[5:18] consequences. I need that to give to the
[5:20] insurance company. Um, I talked to the
[5:23] insurance company, told them if the
[5:25] carrier sees the infractions on the
[5:26] cameras that it's being handled right
[5:28] now, and then I'm working on getting
[5:30] that to them if they happen to see it.
[5:33] Um the next step to me would have been
[5:36] to ban them from driving any firet truck
[5:38] in Tangville Parish. I'm not going to
[5:40] have two two or three people threaten
[5:42] all the whole parish. Either the
[5:44] insurance goes up or they drop us.
[5:46] » So chiefs are supposed to have a cheese
[5:49] meeting. They're going to get together
[5:50] and they're going to come up with
[5:51] whatever the consequences for breaking a
[5:53] level two is.
[5:54] » That's where it needs to come from.
[5:56] Needs to come from the chiefs. Okay.
[5:57] That's
[5:58] » Because I can't I can't risk losing
[5:59] insurance for a couple of people. and
[6:02] David. Yeah. If we don't get it correct,
[6:04] we looking another $200,000 or more.
[6:08] » Yeah.
[6:09] » So, I'm steadfast on that part of it.
[6:12] And I need some information and I need I
[6:15] I need the information.
[6:16] » Mhm.
[6:17] » And and it's the same thing with the
[6:19] motor uh the motor vehicle uh the
[6:21] background checks for the the DMV. I
[6:24] mean, if they can't supply with a DMV,
[6:25] then they can't drive a truck. I don't I
[6:28] I don't know what else to do. I mean,
[6:30] that's it's
[6:32] That's why I'm I'm almost positive
[6:34] because they're shopping the carriers. I
[6:36] guarantee you they probably, which I
[6:37] haven't talked to them lately, but they
[6:39] wanted that information to run MVR on
[6:41] guys
[6:42] » To see if they're even supposed to be
[6:43] driving
[6:44] » Because they are looking at the risk.
[6:48] » Well, yeah, it's all part of it. I mean,
[6:50] » Now in in in the whole scheme of things,
[6:52] it the cameras have helped. We've had
[6:55] we've definitely changed a good trend
[6:57] going forward. It's just seems to be
[7:00] some just
[7:01] So buck the system.
[7:02] » You know, some it takes time to change
[7:03] behaviors,
[7:05] » Right?
[7:05] » But if some people don't conform, I
[7:07] mean, the chiefs need to come up with
[7:08] the rules, not us.
[7:09] » But if they can't conform, they don't
[7:11] need to be driving the truck. I'm sorry.
[7:12] It's the way it is.
[7:13] » We definitely trending in the right
[7:14] direction. So, but now we've done hit
[7:16] these little bumps and we need to fix
[7:17] those bumps, too.
[7:18] » Sounds good. Thank you.
[7:19] » And that meeting's on the 30th.
[7:21] » Yes.
[7:21] » So, we'll Okay.
[7:26] » We got a
[7:28] » The eighth eighth war truck.
[7:32] Yes, I asked to amend the agenda. We had
[7:34] a donation came in from Slidell Fire
[7:36] Department to Chief Buyers. Um it
[7:39] actually came in I think Wednesday. Um
[7:42] so we already had the agenda set and
[7:44] everything was in motion. Um he's going
[7:47] to use it for a med truck so we don't
[7:48] have to run fire trucks up and down the
[7:50] road for medical calls. So he got it
[7:53] donated from slot L. So I'm asking that
[7:55] we amend the motion. Amend the agenda to
[7:57] accept that.
[7:58] » I'll make a motion to amend. I'll
[8:00] second.
[8:01] » So, we got a motion by Miss Hyde and a
[8:03] second by Mr. Havis
[8:06] » To amend the agenda.
[8:08] » Roll call.
[8:09] » Roll call.
[8:10] » Mr. May,
[8:11] » Yes.
[8:12] » Mr. Wells, yes.
[8:13] » Mr. Vial,
[8:13] » Yes.
[8:14] » Miss Hyde,
[8:15] » Yes.
[8:15] » Miss Cotapat, yes.
[8:17] » Mr. Sager, yes. Mr. Graphian, yes.
[8:19] » Mr. Joseph, yes.
[8:19] » Mr. Havis, yes.
[8:20] » Mr. Richmond,
[8:22] » Now we need a motion to donate to
[8:24] approve the donation.
[8:25] » All right. So, what And
[8:27] » It's a 2008. What is it?
[8:29] » Suburban.
[8:30] » 2008 Suburban. So, we need a motion
[8:34] » To approve it.
[8:34] » To approve the donation from Slideel to
[8:38] Eighth Ward 2008 Suburban.
[8:41] » I'll make the motion.
[8:42] » Second.
[8:43] » Dave. David, what are you going to use
[8:44] that for? What are you going to use?
[8:47] Medical. Okay.
[8:49] » To help keep his big engines off the
[8:51] road.
[8:54] » All right.
[8:54] » Motion by Mr. Havis and a second by
[8:59] » Mr. Val. Roll call, please.
[9:01] » Mr. Wells,
[9:02] » Yes.
[9:02] » Mr. Val,
[9:03] » Yes.
[9:03] » Miss Hyde, yes.
[9:04] » Miss Sat, yes. Mr. Sagra, yes. Mr.
[9:06] Graia, yes. Mr. Joseph, yes. Mr. Havis,
[9:09] yes.
[9:09] » Mr. Richtor, Mr. Mayu,
[9:11] » Yes.
[9:14] » Okay.
[9:14] » Thank you.
[9:15] » Done.
[9:17] » All right. Other fire matters. M.
[9:19] Johnny.
[9:25] Uh, thank you, Mr. President. Um, I'd
[9:27] like the board to know that uh in 2024
[9:32] we had to spend some overtime for
[9:33] Hurricane Francine.
[9:35] We just we spent $9,242.19.
[9:40] We just got a reimbursement from this
[9:41] for this overtime.
[9:43] » Good.
[9:43] » So, I'm going to present this check to
[9:45] the fire administrator and I would like
[9:46] it to be put back in my payroll budget
[9:49] as possible.
[9:51] » Seems reasonable to me. Okay.
[9:54] » And um my secretary, my volunteer
[9:58] secretary, she she's trained in in
[10:00] getting these reimbursements.
[10:01] » So, I'd like to bring up next fireboard
[10:04] meeting. Introduce you to her because
[10:08] you know, Ida, we got reimbursed. Every
[10:11] department didn't get it. That's a lot
[10:13] of money we could recoup.
[10:16] So,
[10:17] » Yeah.
[10:17] » Yep. I agree.
[10:18] » Definitely.
[10:19] » Thank y'all.
[10:21] » All right. Thank you.
[10:26] any commissioner's privileges.
[10:29] » Um, yes, I would like to say something.
[10:31] Is Chief Joiner, he left? I don't know
[10:33] where he went.
[10:37] » Okay. Um, so two weeks ago while we were
[10:40] here uh for council, Twin Steeples in
[10:42] Ponchatula was struck by lightning and
[10:45] um I just wanted to thank Chief Joiner,
[10:48] his crew, anybody and everybody that
[10:50] went out there. Um I believe that that
[10:54] fire department saved that building. And
[10:57] so I just wanted to thank them and
[10:59] recognize them. Of course, it was being
[11:01] videoed by people, so it was put on
[11:04] Facebook, but it was great to see you
[11:06] guys in action. Um, your swift response,
[11:09] I believe, saved that building from
[11:11] being destroyed. So, just wanted to
[11:12] recognize Chief Joiner, his crew, and if
[11:15] any of you guys and your crew were out
[11:16] there as well, thank you so much.
[11:21] » Okay, anybody else?
[11:23] » Uh, straight up.
[11:25] Um at the salt conference it was
[11:28] announced that council member from
[11:31] Ponhatula
[11:33] on the punchula city council lost his
[11:35] wife Mr. Tuma.
[11:38] » Yeah. So on behalf of parish government
[11:40] we extend our condolences simply to to
[11:43] Mr. Melvin.
[11:44] » Yeah.
[11:47] Did did you know her straighter?
[11:49] » I did and I haven't heard any
[11:51] information about her services.
[11:53] » Okay.
[11:53] » So yeah. That's good. That means they
[11:55] probably
[11:58] » Okay. Motion to adjurnn.
[12:00] » Mr. Origal.
[12:02] » I got one more.
[12:03] » Jill stuffed that financial disclosure
[12:05] in here. So, y'all be sure to check this
[12:08] that time again.
[12:09] » Oh, yes.
[12:11] » Look at it. It's way in the back
[12:12] » In the Manila. Manila
[12:15] » Way back there.
[12:16] » Y'all be sure to bring that home.
[12:17] » Get it filled out.
[12:20] » All right, y'all.
