Not read the minutes, or not on Chris's email, Jane. You sent it out.
[0:07]
We're ready to work for it.
[0:09]
Okay, I'll see you in minutes. Thank you.
[0:11]
Thank you.
[0:18]
You're out, Mitch. All right. What time do we have? 734. Call the meeting to order at 734 p.m.
[0:27]
Welcome everybody to semi-monthly parks and rec meeting. We have a short agenda today, but we wanted to have a meeting
[0:35]
mid-summer as baseball's over in soccer hasn't started yet. It's a good time to check
[0:41]
in on some of the things. I don't know if anybody had a chance to review the minutes. Sounds
[0:46]
like some are reviewing. Chris did send them out. I thought they were. Like we talked
[0:51]
about last time, they did match the conversation, which is what we're looking for. I didn't
[0:55]
see anything in there that felt like it wasn't how we discussed it. I don't know if we have
[1:01]
of people to approve. I think we do. Yep. I don't know people. So does anybody want
[1:06]
to see you want to keep reviewing them? I'll do a good deal. Yeah. All right. Did you
[1:12]
see them before? No. Okay. So just again. I'll be more attentive next time. No, it's all
[1:19]
good. I have no problem approving them how they were written unless anybody has anything
[1:24]
that they want to address within them. Don't see anybody. So I would motion to approve
[1:30]
to minutes as they were sent. Second, second by Pat, all in favor of improving the minutes.
[1:37]
That is everybody. Check and done. All right, I wanted to talk, it was like a 2.5 in future
[1:46]
agendas. I wanted to add a time in our meetings for public comment. A lot of people will reach
[1:53]
out on Facebook, a lot of the last questions, and I thought I don't do a very good job of
[1:57]
inviting the residents to these meetings, they're obviously welcome but I don't
[2:02]
publicize it as well as I should. So I'm gonna work on that and try to get more
[2:06]
people who have good ideas to come in and then if we can at the beginning of the
[2:13]
meetings just have an opportunity for them to say something to the committees they
[2:16]
want to and they can take off or they can stay for the meeting or whatever, just add
[2:21]
that future meetings. All the other agendas we have it on man we just didn't
[2:24]
on this one, so we have a time we don't have time.
[2:26]
Yeah, sometimes you have public comments,
[2:27]
sometimes we don't have any questions.
[2:28]
You know, we're probably putting it in there at all.
[2:30]
Yeah, it's gonna be nice.
[2:31]
And I'm gonna try to get more people in person
[2:35]
to know that they're having.
[2:36]
Yep.
[2:37]
So they know they're public, but they're not really publicized.
[2:40]
Oh, would it come in after approval of the minutes?
[2:43]
Probably, yeah.
[2:44]
In the comment?
[2:44]
We'll meet up, we'll approve the minutes,
[2:46]
and then if anybody has anything they want to,
[2:48]
has there's mostly questions?
[2:49]
Yeah.
[2:50]
A lot of people have questions about stuff.
[2:51]
I want to know what's going on, occasional comments, things like that.
[2:58]
All right, so that would be nice.
[3:01]
After that, if we go to number three, it says,
[3:04]
discussion of six graders going to the middle school
[3:07]
as it affects sports.
[3:10]
So obviously, I think everybody knows that six grade
[3:13]
from the entire district now is going to middle school,
[3:15]
middle school has sports programs.
[3:17]
I'm getting that five, six teams from the past maybe affected.
[3:22]
Is there anything specific about this going on with the fall?
[3:27]
Sure.
[3:28]
You're up.
[3:28]
Okay.
[3:29]
So I spoke with Matt Lash, who is the athletic director at the high school and middle school.
[3:35]
And they have no intention this year, even in the near future of bringing sixth grade into sports that are tri-out sports.
[3:45]
So six graders can go for track or cross-country those types of sports, but not the ones that they have to try to for.
[3:56]
So here soccer, baseball, basketball, football, all of those will stay as they are currently built with recreational support, so the fifth and sixth grade because their concern is the fifth graders, right?
[4:11]
like what that would do with that fifth sixth grade program. However, they did come into last year,
[4:18]
they didn't have the numbers for softball and so they ended up going down to the sixth graders
[4:23]
and asking, is there anyone willing to play? Because there was one school, sorry, there was one
[4:29]
school at the middle school last year, it was Miller. So they asked those children, is there anyone
[4:34]
who would be willing to play middle school softball? And so they had two girls that were in sixth
[4:39]
straight at the time that did play no school softball.
[4:43]
But that was, that's not to be the norm.
[4:46]
They're hoping every year they're gonna have the numbers
[4:48]
to be able to make the teams.
[4:50]
But if the need arises,
[4:52]
that would be something that they would consider doing.
[4:55]
I did ask specifically in regards to Italy
[4:58]
because of the age group.
[5:02]
Every year I've been a player agent for the last,
[5:05]
I don't know how many years,
[5:06]
But every year I've had one boy who has aged out, but is a sixth-grader.
[5:13]
So because of the little league age bracket, it ends August 31st, but school goes with
[5:20]
kind of October 15th.
[5:22]
So you've got those sixth-graders that turn 12 after that particular day and then they can't
[5:33]
play little league.
[5:34]
So every year, it had one boy that has not been able to play
[5:38]
little league, but has been in sixth grade, so they've had
[5:40]
no options. And the baseball being kind of dying sport, but
[5:45]
it's definitely not a rooming sport. You know, I did ask
[5:49]
Matt if they would consider, you know, that one particular
[5:52]
child who might be interested in playing baseball can't play
[5:56]
little league because of the age would they be willing to. And
[6:01]
he said he'd consider it. They wouldn't want to make
[6:04]
that the norm either because once you open the door, you know, but I thought that was
[6:09]
more of an exception and not necessarily like opening it all six graders, but because
[6:13]
there was one this year in the book, there will be one next year, but they're not union
[6:17]
kids.
[6:20]
So other than that, everything, so soccer basketball is all that will stay with the
[6:32]
I don't know why I can't show it back and forth that always has.
[6:36]
In fact, I played as a sixth grader here and a kick from Warren as a sixth grader played
[6:43]
here on the seventh grade team and they've always had to adjust it back and forth.
[6:49]
I don't know why.
[6:50]
You can still go into the triophage if you know you don't have so many trying out.
[6:55]
I don't know why they can't say, okay, well, you can pick five of them, have them try out and say, okay, well, I'm going to keep two if you need it to.
[7:07]
They still could do that, but again, it's whatever.
[7:11]
Yeah, and that's for right now, obviously, this is new, this skirter's being up in there.
[7:16]
It might evolve, like, as the golf team keeps growing.
[7:21]
Yeah, that's right.
[7:21]
Yeah, no.
[7:22]
Yeah, so, let's see.
[7:28]
From a parks and rechts standpoint, that's great.
[7:30]
Yeah, so it's longer than you guys can.
[7:32]
It's longer than the past ball, right out of here,
[7:34]
so I'll throw these for the little stuff.
[7:37]
Yeah.
[7:37]
Awesome.
[7:38]
Yeah.
[7:39]
Love it.
[7:40]
It sounds like probably a more discussion on that,
[7:43]
down the road, as things adjust,
[7:44]
because this will be the first year they'll figure it out.
[7:46]
So what was the thing to keep asking each year if there's changes to come with high school sports?
[7:54]
Yeah, high school, no school sports.
[7:56]
Yeah, as the school adjusts.
[7:58]
Right.
[7:58]
We'll have to adjust obviously.
[7:59]
That would be, you know, we'll follow their lead on that one.
[8:03]
Perfect.
[8:04]
All right.
[8:05]
Anything else for anyone on six grade sports how they go?
[8:11]
All right.
[8:11]
Number four says discussion of merger of Union rec slash union LL funds.
[8:19]
I don't know what to put it in, I suppose.
[8:22]
Perfect.
[8:30]
He brought it out.
[8:31]
I assumed that he was going to discuss it.
[8:33]
Well, we have for the last, well for this season, discussed taking our little league parents,
[8:41]
associate union, little league funds that has historically supported some portion
[8:47]
of the Union of Italy, I inherited it, my account for me, and we've carried it on now
[8:53]
to Jess, but it seems like this current version of town leadership has supported Union
[9:00]
of Italy in a way that has been much greater than years past. From my perspective, I have
[9:08]
not seen anything, any pushback from the town, if there's a reasonable ask, and it seems
[9:14]
like it makes sense to take our money and roll it into the town's money for two
[9:20]
reasons. One, a gesture of good faith that we are going to be a good partner is
[9:27]
going down the road and it's just nice to have it all in one place that way there's
[9:31]
no question what is available. So there's the T-off, here comes the softball, the
[9:52]
I just purchased some more new equipment for next year but everything's been cleared.
[10:06]
We've had 20, I mean we still have a decent amount in the checking account, we roll over, so.
[10:15]
So Todd and I have had the discussion about this whole thing, obviously we talked about.
[10:19]
You guys first got to talk to him.
[10:20]
Yeah.
[10:21]
And they're working on, they got to work with, I know he said that he had to talk to the slept board.
[10:28]
And then from there, what we need to do is there is an account set up where there's a line item
[10:34]
because they've done collecting software, fees,
[10:38]
to put into that, the challenge, or some of the challenge,
[10:42]
but I guess that's how I got to describe it,
[10:44]
is to have the money put in there
[10:46]
and have it turn over every year.
[10:48]
So, meaning because the budget gets cleared
[10:52]
and then you start again.
[10:54]
So it's having that money there.
[10:55]
So, I said this to Todd, and I don't know if it's the same thing.
[10:59]
So, please, nobody go me to it,
[11:01]
but it's kind of like a reserve account.
[11:02]
The reserve count keeps rolling over and more money goes into it each year for certain
[11:07]
items of the town.
[11:08]
This would kind of be like that.
[11:09]
It would just stay in that line item and get turned over.
[11:13]
So this keeps rolling out.
[11:15]
It's on a little capital account.
[11:17]
So that way it doesn't get wiped out when we're starting again.
[11:20]
So that's the plan is to try to set that up so that if you guys move that into that it
[11:25]
just stays in there.
[11:27]
It keeps building.
[11:28]
It's strong out when we need stuff or whatever may be.
[11:30]
No different from what you're doing now.
[11:34]
It's a good point because the goal in all of the contributors wouldn't want to have
[11:39]
that money be appropriated somewhere else.
[11:43]
And that's the other thing I thought I discussed too is that somebody that wants to donate
[11:47]
to baseball, those funds need to be recognized in that account as baseball funds or if it's
[11:53]
basketball funds or if it's soccer funds or whatever it may be, you know, sponsorship
[11:59]
ship manners are going to baseball, you know all that stuff so it's got to be, that's
[12:04]
why I say there's a set up phase that Stacy's got to do to try to make that happen.
[12:08]
We will make it happen, it's just getting in to go through.
[12:13]
So that's the plan.
[12:15]
I think the town's done a fantastic job, just making this look even better every year, the
[12:20]
paint, the ramps, what they just did to the field again, I assume they put drainage in this
[12:30]
But, you know, it's all I mean, it looks awesome sports fields just came, had everything.
[12:36]
I don't want to get an off track game match, but I came and had everything, did infield again,
[12:43]
sprayed, did the line, the fences again, sprayed the fences.
[12:47]
They're coming back to Erie and Oversey and we're also in, this was talks last year
[12:56]
here because of keeping people off it, we're going to have gates put on the openings by
[13:02]
the dugouts so that we can close them, shackle them up, or whatever we're going to do to
[13:06]
keep people off it, because I couldn't keep people off it, because people were showing up
[13:10]
on the weekends and going out and sickened that deep in the mud, even though we just had it
[13:14]
already done.
[13:14]
So that's the plan is to put gates on and keep the animals next door off the field.
[13:24]
So that's the plan, but again, anybody takes a look out, I mean, I was gone when they
[13:31]
did it and I came back and I looked out and I was like, oh, we got out, it's pretty
[13:35]
awesome, you're selling.
[13:37]
So there's an idea from Little League to help the town pay for some of the cost of the
[13:40]
things that they've been doing.
[13:41]
So if you have extra money that's for baseball, and you give it to Parks and
[13:45]
and we dedicate it to baseball.
[13:47]
Why not just keep it in Italy?
[13:50]
I guess that what you're thinking is
[13:52]
that the town would use it for baseball
[13:54]
things outside of Italy before the...
[13:57]
They would use it for...
[13:58]
I think the expenditure for baseball
[14:00]
has exceeded what we've seen in the past
[14:02]
due to the upgrades.
[14:04]
I think it would be nice for us to,
[14:06]
I get to show some appreciation
[14:08]
that allows some of this money that we have
[14:11]
that accumulates through all kinds of different things.
[14:14]
some of its paybacks.
[14:16]
There are different things to have in the baseball world.
[14:19]
But I think just out of pure fairness,
[14:21]
we have asked the town to buy certain things,
[14:22]
and they've done that.
[14:24]
But it would be nice for us to contribute something
[14:26]
out as well, just to be fair, I think.
[14:29]
It's a big story.
[14:30]
To offset the cost of some of the stuff in town
[14:31]
has done for baseball.
[14:32]
Yes.
[14:33]
It would also be important that if there's a fund that gets set up
[14:37]
that it doesn't get looked at by the budget money and say
[14:40]
We don't need to budget baseball for a little league in the wreck's budget next year.
[14:45]
I don't want to have a checking account with a bunch of money and I'd say we'll use that
[14:49]
for a little league and we're going to take the little league line item off of.
[14:53]
That's why I would expect the person to try to designate it so that it stays in that line.
[14:58]
Yeah, it should just...
[15:00]
It should definitely not be used for the operations budget that we currently have for the league. Still going to have to have that ain't no budget, no matter what for everything. Pick a ball, glue the basketball, glue the soccer, you know, all the things. Anything that knew that we come up with anything that's still going to have to go across the board. Yeah, I just don't want to, I don't want anybody to look at it. Say, oh, baseball has a bunch of money in this account over here. We use what we use this for is like last year, our shirts about our hats, which didn't come out of the town budget.
[15:29]
which cost us what like $1,300 if we didn't have that we wouldn't have been able to buy all the kids their shirts and their hats
[15:39]
because we didn't have a sponsor for our shirts in our hats. I also didn't like knock down 10 to 20 doors to find sponsors for it
[15:48]
but it goes right it bought food for all of our cookout that 50 or 60 people showed up for.
[15:56]
We paid for insurance in the past, we filled our, we redid the shack, the snack shack,
[16:04]
we did, we did a bunch of stuff with all that money that we didn't, so like that's
[16:09]
kind of our, what is it, our net, I don't know, the term I want, I can't think of that,
[16:16]
but that's what that was for.
[16:18]
Yeah.
[16:19]
So the way literally, and it sounds like the board is leaning towards us next year, our
[16:24]
fees to play willy are like unbelievably low just because of we want everyone to be able to play so
[16:33]
it was $45 for a kid to register to play and that covers they got a shirt they got the hat but for
[16:42]
willy you have to pay insurance on everybody you have to pay an accident insurance you have to pay for
[16:47]
the charter so what we do is we do a fundraiser on the side so they stole a bottle tickets so
[16:54]
So all of the minor teams, the T-Ball teams, anything that they sell from the towns, the
[17:01]
sales from that comes back to their literally to help offset that you only collect it $45
[17:07]
in the hat cost 25, you know, just those six and things, but also so you can have the
[17:13]
money to buy fats or teas or whatever is needed.
[17:18]
So it's definitely not a money maker or everything so you definitely don't want to lose the money
[17:23]
that does build over time I totally get what you're saying because you don't we try to keep
[17:29]
the cost low for every player but at the same time we don't do like the discount of multiple
[17:34]
kids or we have it in the past of multiple kids just because of then that becomes a whole
[17:41]
another bookkeeping nightmare but they do scholarships as well where they wave the fee if someone's in
[17:48]
need. So it's definitely, I listen to the towns around us $90 for their kids to play
[17:55]
tea ball. And then a little later, say it's $100 for them to play little. Well, then
[18:01]
if they want to play all stars, it's another $125. We don't even charge the kids for all
[18:06]
stars. So it's just $45 and they're done. I'm not going to worry about anything else. I think
[18:13]
the board, we talked about if we were going to increase, I don't really know.
[18:18]
Yeah, we decided not to.
[18:19]
Yeah, we decided not to, so I think it's going to stay at 45 again and that's something drastically
[18:22]
happens in the world, nothing needs to go up, but just try to keep it so everybody can
[18:27]
play, but also cover some of that costs, but yeah.
[18:34]
So with literally, that's all the towns, so we're talking to all the towns,
[18:38]
right departments are so different yeah everyone's a different I think
[18:43]
keep I think Warren Warren doesn't that one yeah Warren goes through their
[18:48]
department and then Waldeburg and friendship have their own little
[18:54]
there's a whole it sounds like every town does it differently I think
[19:01]
Waldeburg goes through their town and in Waldeburg and Washington have like
[19:04]
little, it's an auxiliary group. And then for Washington, I float Washington's
[19:14]
bills and then when his raffle money comes through, we offset the raffle money.
[19:19]
But that's what gets hard. You know, you don't have raffle that's been doing it forever
[19:24]
to man that money and then things fall apart. So having the town have that kind of
[19:30]
provides that consistency when the parents turn over, you know.
[19:35]
And the relationship here is fantastic between the town and us.
[19:39]
That's not always the case.
[19:40]
No, I think that just shows the strength and confidence
[19:43]
in the relationship.
[19:45]
Well, all four of it, as long as we can keep our thing separate
[19:48]
so that that money doesn't disappear.
[19:50]
And people keep their eyes on it.
[19:51]
Make sure it's going to proceed as we envisioned it.
[19:56]
And these things need to happen differently
[19:57]
than we can do that.
[19:58]
So we'll get a drive.
[20:00]
Or need it.
[20:00]
I don't want to do a bunch of stuff with that extra money.
[20:02]
And then you guys need money out of it.
[20:04]
And then they'll have to be there.
[20:05]
So it should be a communication that, yeah.
[20:07]
Awesome.
[20:08]
That's something that's really cool.
[20:10]
As long as you manage with it.
[20:11]
So good.
[20:15]
All right.
[20:15]
Anything else on Little League?
[20:19]
I know.
[20:20]
Chief executive officer.
[20:24]
Every time I send him an email, I think that.
[20:28]
All right.
[20:29]
Number four says, old business, new business.
[20:32]
It's all kinds of, because old businesses is mostly shut down.
[20:38]
We had lots of stuff we were discussing.
[20:40]
Nothing anything's been formalized or finalized anywhere,
[20:42]
other than that there's going to be a soccer team, right?
[20:45]
That's a new business.
[20:46]
Yeah, soccer, we have pre-KK team with about eight kiddos on it.
[20:52]
And then we have a first and second grade team
[20:58]
with about eight kiddos on it.
[21:00]
nine kiddos on it. So yeah, which is great. So we'll have, you know, have their own
[21:10]
Rex Up routine this year. And then we have one fourth grader. That's all that's
[21:15]
signed up, which that's still good. But I've talked to John through Warren and
[21:20]
he's very accommodating. So we'll have to put that fourth grader with Warren, which is
[21:26]
fine, but so yeah I will play against boring and I'm assuming Washington because that's how
[21:35]
we've always done that.
[21:36]
Is there a lead for that?
[21:38]
I guess there are lead fees, is that paid out of the kid fees or is there something that
[21:41]
we owe to be part of the work?
[21:43]
No, we just coordinate.
[21:44]
I mean we'll do, we have sponsors for short and then we bought the town, all of our the
[21:50]
balls and the balls and the nets and all the equipment that we need flags all
[21:57]
that stuff and then we'll play here and then we'll play on more in field so we'll
[22:02]
just play against that's how we'll play. Yeah, a line of soccer field in the outfield.
[22:06]
Yeah, awesome. Yeah, cool. So you're going to aerate it for three.
[22:15]
By the way we are probably going to
[22:18]
you stake off the inner field, you close it off.
[22:23]
Use the orange.
[22:24]
Yep, snow bends.
[22:25]
Yep.
[22:26]
We're going to, because we're just going to be done
[22:28]
and try to keep everybody off of it.
[22:30]
Because any divots get made, the water's
[22:31]
going to set in and all of it or so.
[22:33]
Yep.
[22:33]
You and I haven't gotten that far yet.
[22:35]
And there's still plenty of room, right?
[22:36]
For, oh, a head side?
[22:38]
That's good.
[22:38]
Yeah, yeah.
[22:40]
And we're in talks with the school, too.
[22:42]
And I ended up being out there, too.
[22:44]
So I'm going to go buy that advantage, Jim.
[22:46]
Do you know whether that season starts?
[22:47]
We normally start, like by the time everything gets coordinated, it's normally the third week in September.
[22:55]
I'm actually going to keep those signs in them, but I'm going to leave them.
[22:58]
Just hungry.
[23:03]
I'm going to leave them.
[23:06]
Alright.
[23:06]
I cover soccer, baseball is over.
[23:10]
I was explaining the wreck golf is going well.
[23:12]
I thought it was 27 inches.
[23:15]
We've had the past signed out 27 different times by 22 unique individuals.
[23:21]
So, some people have gone multiple times, right?
[23:25]
Yeah, a couple.
[23:26]
So, might as well be used and sit there in the clubhouse.
[23:29]
Exactly, so this is the best part.
[23:31]
There has yet to be a time where the pass wasn't available for somebody.
[23:35]
So, nobody has come in and been like, oh, I want to use the pass and it's not available because somebody has taken it out every day or whatever.
[23:41]
So, it has been available to everybody that's needed it and it is being used by D.
[23:45]
So we keep the sign-in sheets,
[23:49]
yeah, people are getting out and golfing, which is wonderful because it's great exercise.
[23:54]
And it's beautiful up there.
[23:55]
And I didn't realize that was going to be such an issue.
[23:58]
But to me, that's a success.
[24:00]
I mean, from this, from sitting here and I wonder if can we still do that here?
[24:07]
Or that needs to be a bigger discussion.
[24:08]
and just maybe it should be determined.
[24:14]
It is still being discussed.
[24:18]
I am thrilled that the 27 times,
[24:22]
and we still got a whole bunch of time left.
[24:25]
To me, it's a success.
[24:26]
I'm a big advocate for golf.
[24:29]
It's not a social club, it's not an explicit club.
[24:31]
It's the mission statement of the golf courses
[24:34]
to get people out to enjoy the game of golf.
[24:36]
off the mission statement of parts of grandkids to get people out, recreating it. It's like a perfect fit.
[24:41]
And, yeah, it's not super exclusive. It's available.
[24:46]
It's outdoors. It's exercise.
[24:49]
And it's really accessible. Young kids are playing five-year-olds are out there playing, and 85-year-olds are out there playing.
[24:55]
It's not super crowded. It's been a really great summer on the course.
[25:00]
So yeah, the concerns that existed have not come to fruition yet, which is really good.
[25:07]
Well, the very positive thing that you're fighting is the stigma from the past.
[25:11]
Yeah, it's wrong.
[25:11]
I mean, we're talking a long time ago.
[25:14]
Yeah.
[25:14]
And that's where that comes from.
[25:16]
Yeah, and that's fine.
[25:17]
It's just, it's not the case anymore.
[25:19]
It's just over, yeah, it's just over coming in.
[25:20]
And it's in our way anyway.
[25:22]
Well, that's proven wrong.
[25:23]
That's right.
[25:23]
Yeah, that's right.
[25:24]
A lot of that's marked.
[25:25]
But 26 people have taken a lot and doing that shows that too. Yeah, I mean, I speak double that I would love to be now and then the more the barrier
[25:33]
Open house
[25:35]
What are we doing today?
[25:41]
You guys got Wednesdays throughout the day.
[25:47]
I also go some time and it's not there. I go with the rent, you just drop 20 bucks in
[25:53]
So I already can golf with a member and members and guests play and families play.
[25:56]
It's not the old bank executive club.
[26:00]
It has a member for a long time, but I understand that there's a stigma there.
[26:05]
That's marketing on the golf courses part.
[26:08]
I'll talk to the marketing director from Union Country Club and see if we can work on the
[26:12]
stigma.
[26:14]
He's busy.
[26:17]
Well I wanted to ask who made the sign for soccer.
[26:20]
That was awesome.
[26:21]
He did.
[26:21]
That can't stay in town.
[26:22]
Check GBT.
[26:24]
That's really good.
[26:26]
It's fine.
[26:28]
It's fine.
[26:28]
You can tell.
[26:29]
They had the brushstrokes.
[26:30]
Yeah.
[26:31]
It's fine.
[26:32]
Thank you.
[26:33]
We haven't been to the eye banners yet in the Parks and Wildlife
[26:35]
page.
[26:36]
Yeah.
[26:36]
I think they're wonderful.
[26:37]
The first one that we made, I said, create a banner that is so
[26:40]
obnoxious that any kid looking over their parents face will
[26:43]
want to know what it was.
[26:44]
And it created that crazy color for one.
[26:47]
There's a lot of good.
[26:48]
That's pretty good.
[26:50]
What is that?
[26:50]
Oh, it's off your sign if you want to play. There you go. Yeah, that was the idea and then yeah, it doesn't really clean one. That was nice.
[26:58]
It worked really well.
[27:00]
Awesome. Is there any other new stuff going on as we enter into fall?
[27:07]
Was there a trail thing up or conversation on that or not? Is that on?
[27:11]
There's an ongoing trail discussion.
[27:19]
I think Todd, he's still in talks with the guy that's the trail guy because he is part
[27:26]
of the Reese, I can't remember it's Green Space that he's part of and so he's still
[27:35]
talking about stuff but I think the biggest thing was I was just trying to figure out who
[27:43]
up there so that we can go and still do that.
[27:45]
We still want to do it.
[27:46]
Still going to have public works do a lot of cleaning.
[27:51]
It's just getting to that point.
[27:53]
Can I have to kind of let him, because he's in charge
[27:56]
of dealing with them.
[27:58]
So I kind of just, if he tells me to go do something,
[28:02]
I go do it, but he kind of is in talks with them.
[28:04]
So that's where it is at this point.
[28:06]
Yeah, that's it.
[28:07]
I think that's one of those things where everybody's
[28:08]
going to end up being on the same page.
[28:10]
There's a lot of red tape that
[28:11]
It seems awkward and unnecessary, and it'd be nice because we've been talking about this
[28:16]
for like three years.
[28:17]
If we could just make something happen, we're talking about cutting some sticks moving
[28:19]
them aside and having to show people what we've done.
[28:21]
It's not complicated.
[28:22]
It's just paperwork and legality of it because we live in 2026, so it's a hat through the
[28:30]
woods.
[28:31]
Well, and on top of that, there's a lot of talks about things around town having access to
[28:37]
certain things.
[28:40]
Like, can we use the playground to go through that to get to another piece of property
[28:45]
that somebody says, yeah, you can put something through here. We are, there are other things going on.
[28:51]
I just can't elaborate on it because I don't have, yeah, that's not definitive anything. But that,
[28:55]
that is the plan is to try to incorporate that trail with somebody else's land and tie it to
[29:01]
something here, to tie it to something there. And Todd and I have looked at the maps,
[29:06]
And just because they're up in the town, I know where certain things are, you know, who own certain pieces of property.
[29:15]
You know, back in the day, way, way back, it was always a discussion deal where we were about it was going to be something now can't anymore because all the pieces of property down here got sold off.
[29:24]
This houses down across it, you know, so that's kind of gone by the wayside.
[29:27]
But can we incorporate part of it that came by the big rounds and down through depot street?
[29:34]
You know, still tie that to something else can we tie it to?
[29:37]
Hopefully at some point sidewalks that are gonna happen
[29:41]
When the DOT decides they're gonna redo the comment, but but again, it's all these factors of just trying to get stuff lined up
[29:48]
Is this something that Todd's working on by himself?
[29:51]
Like wouldn't it be beneficial to try to make like a trails subcommittee to have some bodies that he could rely on to
[29:56]
to help with certain pieces of the puzzle.
[30:00]
I don't know what he's doing as far as that, so I really can't answer that question. I know that he asked me certain things at times, so I don't know if it's him and the Greenspace committee or what's coming along. That's fine. I just don't know if we need bodies, because we can definitely, we have volunteers that are part of the volunteer party right all the time, and I know that the town has volunteers that would love to help. I think if it comes to that point, I think it's hard to have no problem saying we need people.
[30:26]
So it would give me an agenda item next month to give us what you can.
[30:29]
It just isn't updated this important month.
[30:31]
Yeah.
[30:32]
It's nice to know, just because it's been going on for a long time.
[30:34]
I know that it's complicated.
[30:36]
Yeah.
[30:37]
But if there's some action items that we could take and try to move one piece of that forward,
[30:42]
that would be nice.
[30:43]
Yeah.
[30:43]
There's a lot of moving parts.
[30:44]
I get it.
[30:47]
That was the trails, winter's coming, soccer first.
[30:53]
I was just going to ask about the tennis grant, and is it possible to get an update on that
[31:01]
or a toss on here that's called?
[31:03]
Yeah, and I have no idea about any of it.
[31:06]
I know that he's working on grants for that, and I don't even know where they stand.
[31:11]
I think he had to have a motor while ago, but I do not know.
[31:16]
So we could put that on because he might be here next time, right, so we could just get
[31:21]
an update? Yep, I'm asking that. So another thing to add to the agenda, the tennis
[31:28]
ran, because the pickables kind of tie in with the tennis court. I mean we have people
[31:35]
not coming to play pickable outside just because they think the court's terrible, which it's
[31:42]
not great, but we still play and we have a good time. But so the future of the tennis courts
[31:55]
I know he's talking about configuration of how things would be done when they would do it.
[32:02]
So I know he's working on that.
[32:04]
I know.
[32:08]
I certainly want to mention it to him about comedy.
[32:11]
It would be nice just to see where we are and what he might be that we can support for him.
[32:17]
All right.
[32:18]
Good deal.
[32:19]
Any other new business for anybody anywhere?
[32:21]
I don't know what I was going to say is anybody on the committee not sworn in yet it is it is that time of year
[32:32]
Just make sure that you if you want to continue serving or if your term is good to go get sworn in
[32:39]
Yep, Sonny has all the paperwork. I'll read it. You just walk in
[32:51]
Super easy, yeah, I don't just think you haven't done it yet.
[32:53]
Do that, and if you don't want to be on the committee anymore,
[32:55]
just let me know, and we'll figure something out.
[32:58]
And if you do, awesome.
[33:00]
Next meeting agenda, do we think a month now that it's fall,
[33:03]
soccer won't even have been started yet,
[33:05]
if it's the third week in September.
[33:07]
We're going to run through, so we said like a week or so.
[33:09]
So we were running through September and meet in October.
[33:13]
That makes more sense.
[33:14]
It's going to be busy in September
[33:15]
when it's everything gets going.
[33:17]
Exactly, fall sports are going to go crazy.
[33:19]
So, if we meet at the end of October,
[33:24]
in Halloween costumes.
[33:26]
Yeah, you got to dress up.
[33:29]
What's the count?
[33:33]
If we do a Tuesday,
[33:35]
like we have been, Tuesday the 27th is the last
[33:39]
Tuesday in October.
[33:43]
We'll be like probably just finishing our
[33:45]
soccer.
[33:46]
Which would be great.
[33:46]
We'll have details.
[33:48]
We'll know a little bit about how it went.
[33:51]
Awesome, so does that sound okay to everybody for now?
[33:55]
And this time at night, last time we met at 8, this time was 7.30, it was nice to go after
[33:59]
dinner, I prefer it.
[34:02]
It's a little faster, I don't know why they do, so yeah, yeah, maybe easier to attend to
[34:08]
the result and we're focused or is eaten.
[34:11]
So do Tuesday the 27th of October at 7.30, 10
[34:23]
.27, 26, perfect.
[34:25]
That covers the set, the next meeting agenda.
[34:28]
All right, last and final times,
[34:30]
anybody have anything that they need to discuss?
[34:31]
Or wanted to discuss?
[34:32]
Or anything?
[34:35]
Pressing?
[34:36]
No.
[34:37]
No.
[34:38]
Right, right.
[34:39]
All right.
[34:41]
I don't see anything.
[34:42]
So motion to adjourn.
[34:45]
Second.
[34:46]
Seconded.
[34:47]
Pretty good.
[34:48]
Anybody need a thing?
[34:48]
All right.
[34:50]
808 adjourned.
[34:51]
Perfect.
[34:59]
We called the last
