[0:05]
We'll start with the flag version of the loots.
[0:09]
Are you doing to turn our answer down?
[0:11]
No, he's got a flag there.
[0:13]
I can. I play the loot dance.
[0:16]
Good to have the United States of America.
[0:19]
And two, three public for which it stands.
[0:22]
One nation undergone an invisible liberty and justice for all.
[0:28]
All right, ready.
[0:31]
Okay, we have a couple of additions to the agenda and
[0:39]
I get a motion to approve the agenda as amended.
[0:45]
You'll have to know that.
[0:46]
Oh, yeah, of course.
[0:47]
So we have an addition to the consent agenda of guilty resignation for warranty and grades full.
[0:56]
And then we have the addition to the first policy reading.
[1:06]
It was K and A, and then Pan A, AR-1 and AR-2.
[1:15]
And then for building level reports, they will be presented in September.
[1:22]
Those are the changes.
[1:23]
It's hard,
[1:26]
these policies are gone, if underneath this first reading, yeah, okay, first reading, yeah.
[1:35]
Yeah.
[1:35]
And it's good to me, we had another, another, another,
[1:38]
Reset teacher, Resignations, how he said.
[1:39]
Yeah, yeah.
[1:41]
What was that?
[1:41]
Kate Niemick, Nildiett, in the consent agenda.
[1:47]
That's a great school.
[1:50]
Okay.
[1:52]
So, some moved through the, I mean,
[1:57]
And then we will call the votes on that.
[2:06]
So direct or have a loan.
[2:14]
He said hi.
[2:15]
I don't.
[2:15]
What did you?
[2:16]
Yes.
[2:17]
Thank you.
[2:18]
Oh, yes.
[2:22]
Correct.
[2:22]
Correct.
[2:25]
Yes.
[2:27]
Yes.
[2:27]
Yes.
[2:29]
Yes.
[2:29]
I am also yes, but we have thick, one option
[2:44]
passes, thank you.
[2:51]
Okay, we will move on to the consent agenda.
[2:58]
Do I get a motion to approve the agenda?
[3:03]
Okay,
[3:10]
Director Kevelona,
[3:15]
Director Marie, yes,
[3:21]
yes, yes, and I'm also yes, so the motion passes,
[3:28]
but
[3:43]
Okay, so our action item we have new business we the first line of business is to approve the super intent evaluation tool for this year.
[3:57]
I'm going to accept it as representing the packet.
[4:02]
OK, thanks.
[4:04]
Do we have a second for a fix?
[4:11]
Do you have your capital owner?
[4:12]
Well, I'll just mention that.
[4:14]
Nothing changes the same thing as you did last year.
[4:19]
I just made some changes to the calendar,
[4:22]
the one page calendar, and the size more in line with what we actually
[4:27]
our border leisure, whatever. Yeah, and some of it didn't seem to line up,
[4:33]
white with what we'd like to do. So I changed that. So make sure and look over that, make sure
[4:38]
you all agree with what I put in there. It's not significance. Can you hear that, Alex?
[4:45]
Yeah. Okay.
[4:48]
But line up with what we did last year. Okay. So the only changes to the
[4:52]
evaluation tool, I don't know if you could hear Andrea, but was just the one page schedule to better align with what we with our existing schedule that we do.
[5:06]
So this is Adrian.
[5:08]
It would be page nine.
[5:10]
Oh, sorry.
[5:11]
Oh, it's written down.
[5:13]
Yeah.
[5:19]
Do we have any further discussion on this item?
[5:22]
I did crystal set.
[5:24]
Did just.
[5:25]
Oh, now.
[5:27]
I didn't.
[5:28]
Oh, yeah.
[5:29]
I was like.
[5:30]
Wait a minute.
[5:30]
I was like, you've never been found.
[5:32]
Okay.
[5:34]
We'll go ahead and do the role.
[5:35]
Vote on.
[5:36]
On that director.
[5:38]
Yeah.
[5:41]
You can thank you.
[5:44]
Yes.
[5:45]
Director Simon.
[5:47]
Yes.
[5:47]
Director.
[5:49]
Yes.
[5:51]
I vote.
[5:52]
Yes as well.
[5:53]
So we have this.
[5:54]
The motion passes the six.
[5:57]
And one absolutely.
[6:01]
Okay.
[6:03]
The next item.
[6:05]
Is approval for first reading.
[6:11]
or the policies, do we have any, do we talk about it first, or do we ask for the motion?
[6:24]
I don't know.
[6:26]
Okay, thank you.
[6:31]
First readings.
[6:33]
Any discussion?
[6:34]
Yes.
[6:47]
Data tab.
[6:48]
Thank you.
[6:48]
level.
[6:52]
That's very delicious, though.
[6:55]
Well, they're sitting here in the first place.
[6:56]
So for this second, the second packet, you know, just the
[6:59]
quality of things we received last week. Yeah. And they need to get a
[7:03]
free budget. And they're so, you know, that's why we're just
[7:06]
we're adding the night. Oh, and the first reading. There are, um,
[7:10]
we're going to go with, there's some bracketed language in there.
[7:14]
And we're just going to go with the recommended language because they have
[7:18]
The quality itself is refired and then the ARB, the first ARB is highly recommended, so I think you can go with it and then the second ARB form that I think would be.
[7:30]
Very helpful to our admin. So I think you would just, if you see any graduate language that you need to be concerned about, just let us know when we start out.
[7:41]
Okay, and for them, that represents a little bit more to the law and why it's.
[7:53]
You would like me to.
[7:56]
Yeah, yeah, if you want to.
[7:58]
I was speaking to the, um, for the immigration course.
[8:02]
Yeah, that that was just recently put into effect.
[8:06]
And I got a email today from OGE recommending that we move forward on it as quickly as possible by the end of September.
[8:14]
As I just said, it has to be put in.
[8:17]
But in essence, I think it's providing awareness
[8:21]
of what you can do as a school district in a state of Oregon,
[8:27]
versus what is required by federal law.
[8:30]
So it just really delineates everything for people
[8:32]
so that there's no misunderstanding in terms of what were required
[8:37]
to do by law, but also the protocols that need to be followed
[8:43]
in the event that there is some immigration enforcement on campus.
[8:49]
So we just, you know, we're filing.
[8:51]
And we did fit the start of the, I would say the,
[8:57]
the government's interest in getting more involved in immigration enforcement.
[9:02]
When that started happening months and months ago,
[9:05]
we immediately had information that we put out to our buildings
[9:10]
that basically gave everybody a good idea
[9:13]
of what they had to do.
[9:15]
And so it's really about following
[9:17]
the appropriate protocol.
[9:24]
We have a further discussion on the.
[9:28]
So we can we can look this over there and
[9:31]
discuss it.
[9:32]
We'll be able to discuss that next month and
[9:35]
let go on a consent agenda,
[9:36]
but you would be able to contact the district office
[9:38]
and we could.
[9:40]
If we have questions.
[9:42]
If you have questions or if you have concerns,
[9:44]
And again, if there are a lot of concerns that come out of it, we can put it on and read it again as a, as another reading.
[9:51]
Do we report a lot of consideration needs on?
[9:54]
Oh, no, that's, I mean, this is, this is where there are some expectations that we have not had in the past.
[10:01]
We're following law, you know, we are a state that has a particular view that is based in law in terms of being a sanctuary state.
[10:11]
that sometimes comes up into a, you know, opposition to federal law, but we, again, have been told that we have simply have to follow the law.
[10:24]
When you look for things like language around liaison and points of contact, those are things that we haven't had, but we will need to put that in place.
[10:31]
That would be like me or, you know, somebody that's designated, but usually it's a superintendent that would be informed, but I think this is a good.
[10:45]
It's an example, I think of, you know, I've been talking quite a bit to people about just accountability in a lot of areas.
[10:54]
I think it is going to be under scrutiny.
[10:57]
And so you have to, when they tell you that these things have to be put in place, you have to have these things in place.
[11:04]
They're going to try and they'll try to verify.
[11:08]
I have a great, this is a great handout that I got yesterday or today from OD that kind of spells it out.
[11:16]
And I can certainly send that to each of you if you'd like.
[11:20]
That goes beyond policy and just is a little bit more.
[11:23]
I think easier to digest, so if you'd like me, I'll send that out to send it out to you.
[11:30]
Yeah, I'll send it out to you.
[11:31]
Thank you.
[11:34]
Okay, any other questions?
[11:37]
No.
[11:38]
Okay.
[11:40]
Director Kevalanda, you improve.
[11:43]
Go to the first reading.
[11:47]
Thank you.
[11:48]
Director Marie?
[11:50]
Director Simon City?
[11:54]
Director.
[12:01]
I'm going to go to the next item is our goal discussion and
[12:21]
the first one is the superintendent goals and then we have board and district.
[12:28]
What's up?
[12:30]
Is it that the reading?
[12:31]
The reading.
[12:34]
But we're here.
[12:37]
This is all right here.
[12:40]
I'm the evaluation.
[12:42]
Based on discussion with Andrea.
[12:44]
We, well, we just set these goals last year.
[12:53]
And I don't think that we want to make substantial changes at this time.
[12:59]
Well, yeah, as I said, we spent quite a bit of time on this to put this more into place, right?
[13:04]
That's,
[13:07]
but.
[13:07]
And I think.
[13:13]
Based on conversation.
[13:16]
When we read who are goals.
[13:19]
Next year, you know, when we go through this process next year with a new superintendent.
[13:24]
That's where we really want to, you know, determine whether we're on the right track or not this year.
[13:29]
We're going to actually follow through with them and see it.
[13:34]
We're going to try to find them.
[13:36]
Yeah, we're going to go together with this series.
[13:46]
So yeah, we're sort of on with our current goals in our strategy plan.
[13:53]
They're doable. They're from from your opinions.
[13:59]
We're we're on track with these on.
[14:02]
I guess my question is, do we, do you feel we need to meet as a board, are we, are we off target on stuff that we need to discuss?
[14:11]
Are we over achievers and we put too much into this, do we need some maybe some guidance?
[14:20]
Yeah, I, I looked back on the evaluation comments that you all provided me and I use that as a way of determining whether or not
[14:31]
many of the goals that had been set were accomplished or not.
[14:36]
And I feel, you know, honestly, the way director Green just said it, it's like they were written
[14:45]
in a broad enough way that it allows for lots of opportunity to address big issues that you're
[14:54]
never going to stray away from as a school board.
[14:57]
You're always going to be looking at continuous improvement.
[15:00]
With regards to academics, you're always going to look at ways that you can, you know, retain and and and recruit great educators for and staff members for for this community of schools, you know, you just go down the line, you're there, you're not going to want to change these two dramatically. I do think if you get down into more specifics, which we did talk about last year.
[15:27]
The goal, I think, this year is to present to you what I would say is a much more standardized
[15:34]
eight, well, school district in terms of protocols and procedures that you'll have for
[15:42]
as long as you want to have them, you'll be able to continue to go back, revise, tweak them,
[15:48]
remove certain things if they become redundant or obsolete. But, you know, the goal is to
[15:54]
to put that kind of information together for the district.
[15:59]
And so that would be in all areas, you know,
[16:02]
scope and sequence for students,
[16:04]
what are they supposed to know and understand
[16:06]
in every grade in our district and in every academic discipline?
[16:13]
What do we, what are our expectations around extracurricular activities?
[16:18]
We want to, if we have, you saw kind of an example of how our administrators met with me and we, and they really took on looking at discipline again in the district and putting their eyes on it.
[16:48]
I think you're fine with, yeah, I don't, I don't speak. I think, Andrea, making sure that you're going through all your policies, getting that house in order is really, really important.
[17:00]
Yeah, so you don't have to go back and do that again. Yeah, I think it's just getting, getting the foundation.
[17:17]
And I will say, we talked about this last year, everything is amenable, right, that you have,
[17:25]
we can write these, but at any point in time when we're doing poorly reviews, you can add,
[17:31]
you can take something away, who knows something could happen where you feel more attention
[17:37]
as to be put toward something in the district.
[17:41]
You know, and you want some attention put on that, we certainly can shift at that moment.
[17:49]
Okay, thanks.
[17:56]
So we have any further discussion?
[18:00]
No, we don't.
[18:01]
We don't need.
[18:02]
Most of them.
[18:02]
Nope.
[18:03]
I'm just asking.
[18:05]
We can move on to the next item, which is the superintendent report.
[18:12]
I'm
[18:18]
going to look at my watch for a second.
[18:26]
Thanks for letting me.
[18:28]
Just for sharing.
[18:31]
Well, a few things.
[18:34]
I want to make sure that I acknowledge Isaac Anderson and
[18:37]
the maintenance grounds crew for the work they've been doing all summer.
[18:41]
It looks great and coming into the park and
[18:47]
doing all the hedges, I don't know if you've gone by the grade school, but all those hedges
[18:51]
have been trimmed. And that looks terrific. If you have a chance, go in. They came together
[18:57]
last year. We got them working together as a team on certain projects. And boy, if you get
[19:04]
into the grade school, look at the floors. They really spend a great deal of time getting rid
[19:09]
of the old wax, putting on new wax. And it really is remarkable. So Josh and Josh, at the
[19:16]
school, Henry and J.L. and at the middle school, Steven and Michael here at the high school
[19:20]
Elias has been working on the grounds and just a terrific commitment under Isaac's leadership.
[19:28]
So I appreciate that. You know, so again, part of what always happens at the start of the year is
[19:35]
people come back and they always take a look at the school and they wonder, are we really ready to go?
[19:40]
And I feel like, you know, a very confident in the work that they've been doing.
[19:44]
Kevin, who does our technology, has really been going through this kind of the summer work of
[19:51]
technology, getting that ready. I've met with him a couple times, most recently, about AI,
[19:59]
and you're going to keep hearing about AI going into this year, it's just getting to a point
[20:04]
of discussion in terms of its impact on schools. I know that director Simesen brought up, whether or not
[20:14]
you're going to start seeing things like that becoming more and more developed. They're not there yet,
[20:20]
but it sure seems like you can't go out. Go through a day where there isn't some story about
[20:26]
like AI driving a subway or something that you didn't expect, right? Where they take over something.
[20:32]
And so we better be, we better be, be somewhat ready. We'll be talking to a little computer here
[20:38]
month or two. Thanks to Cindy, the way transportation was handled. Stephanie took care of our kids,
[20:47]
the summer with our food service program for summer lunches and then with summer school, so that
[20:53]
was really great. Again, we have such a solid group of directors that's really, really remarkable
[20:59]
and terrific. Rikers have been working at getting all athletics up and running and my plan is to
[21:07]
have him come and do a presentation to the board at each and at the conclusion. It may not even
[21:13]
be at the conclusion, but at each board season where he could come and present and we can
[21:21]
provide. And you guys can certainly provide input in terms of what you'd like to see,
[21:26]
you know, in terms of the kind of information and the report like that. But I think that would be
[21:36]
You know, Courtney, Amy, Linda, Kate, Brooklyn, Barb, Philly, and and Char. I mean, they just did a great job. Every time I went into a classroom,
[21:49]
kids were just big smiles really enjoying being in school and that wasn't always the case
[21:54]
when I was a kid. You know the idea of going to the school in the summer had like not, but they
[22:02]
make it so informational educational and flat out fun. Like kids really really enjoy being there.
[22:13]
So I appreciate that. My kids just look really happy. We're going through negotiations
[22:20]
Obviously it's been scattered through the summer, it's hard to get people together, but I think the discussions have been good.
[22:28]
The middle school building.
[22:30]
Is moving forward? So hopefully that's going to reach a, I guess the building will be tightened up enough for the interior can get worked on, you know, one school gets going.
[22:44]
Great to have all of our administrators back and preparing for the new year. There's a lot of excitement and good energy, lots of ideas. So that's that's always a fun for me. I, I've never tired of the beginning of a school year.
[22:57]
And I've never hired of the end of the school year, you know, like I look forward to it at the beginning and the end for various reasons, but they're all very excited.
[23:09]
I had a chance to tour the former library building that is owned by the district.
[23:17]
You know, I had that moment of nervousness when Mike put me in that ball.
[23:20]
Yeah, sorry, I'm a little bit.
[23:25]
But didn't appreciate that.
[23:29]
Yeah, that's it.
[23:33]
It does kind of give me the heat.
[23:36]
But when Mike has that way of not smiling at those moments,
[23:40]
I was like, this could this could be.
[23:43]
And they didn't look like there was a phone.
[23:44]
There was a, he demonstrated there is something in there.
[23:47]
You get air.
[23:57]
I think he's going to have more information for you all with regards to the value and just looking at different options.
[24:09]
It's a pretty expansive piece of property, just the surrounding parking lot spaces.
[24:16]
Is everything else like I was amazed that there's not much there besides just the building. So it'll be interesting to hear your your thoughts on that.
[24:27]
So that's it.
[24:29]
Yeah, I took.
[24:30]
No, I'm sorry.
[24:31]
Okay.
[24:32]
I got a couple questions.
[24:36]
So we did we did get the coaches.
[24:39]
It's recorded me with the coaches on a student policy for release after activities for parents to take to take students.
[24:51]
We're in that I had a conversation with him about wanting to make sure that we have that in a.
[24:58]
In our handbook so that every understands that's what we do.
[25:01]
We have a district policy for transportation.
[25:04]
It shouldn't be coach by coach.
[25:06]
Okay, last as to whether or not he's met with him. I don't know, you know, he said that chance yet.
[25:14]
I do have, and there's nothing to do about it now. I do have one concern. I saw the steel going up. I did kind of acting for it through there. I thought
[25:22]
This is me assuming, but I thought of that. Jim, we would have a traditional
[25:29]
center ridge
[25:30]
rough line like a house, slow two directions. The slope of that roof is sent in all the water back
[25:38]
towards the school. I'm concerned if we if we had a lean to rough system that we had that we did
[25:44]
not at least take that lean to and push that water away from the school. We're going to if anything
[25:50]
happens we're going to push all that water between two buildings with runoff.
[25:55]
Yeah, I was all part of engineering and I was also in a lean roof, but I mean, as far as the engineering and the water's kind of go.
[26:02]
It's got to go.
[26:03]
There's got to go somewhere and not.
[26:06]
And I do know actually we did have a, we did have an issue where we had to find that we're the water went to go to the drainage.
[26:14]
Detection were supposed to go.
[26:16]
So there is, you know, the holding, I know there's four holding areas somewhere on the property.
[26:22]
There's four different ones.
[26:23]
Yeah, I'm going to make sure I went down and we're going to want to say the first something to make it go to the different one.
[26:31]
So I know that train has just been been looked at, but as far as a sloping, I mean, it has to be the engineering.
[26:41]
Oh, but it's always been a sloped roof. I do remember that. I guess I, I guess I never saw that, right? I don't remember the growing anyway, I just.
[26:53]
Anyway, that's a lot of water to come off that roof to trap it in in between a building.
[26:59]
If if our infrastructure was to fail because you're actually right, the water has to go somewhere.
[27:03]
And if it can't go out, it's going to go in a building.
[27:06]
Because it does have to go somewhere.
[27:09]
I hope in that when the design was submitted that it would go through the kind of, those kinds of questions would come up.
[27:22]
There'd have to be city people that would look at it, the permitting process. I can't imagine.
[27:27]
I'll certainly ask the question.
[27:29]
You know, see, that's the first thing I know.
[27:31]
Yeah, I can't tell.
[27:31]
I can't tell a dog because we are basically a, you know,
[27:34]
we're a monolithic floor in there.
[27:38]
We've, we're basically our school's sitting right on the ground.
[27:41]
Realistically, so it doesn't take a lot of water to build up for stuff to see
[27:45]
be in through and under.
[27:47]
So that that was a little concerning.
[27:50]
That's like the rain blot here.
[27:52]
What's that?
[27:52]
You act like it rains a lot here at times that you're been nice to sleep.
[27:56]
But yeah, it's just a concern and as long as python's there is death for
[28:02]
Anyway
[28:04]
Okay, thank you
[28:10]
Okay
[28:16]
They just to go a little more on trip them if any of you want to go look at the building
[28:21]
Monitor it just give us a call. We can take you down there enough month. I hope to have
[28:26]
You would ask me for maybe a
[28:28]
list of important important building stuff we have to do on the district, so I'll have a list of what I think, but of course I want you, you're all as a opinion on what should think of foreign like the grant stand. That's probably number one.
[28:48]
We need to replace that in the next year, I'm hoping to do it this year, but it went above the threshold for RFP, so I actually got a formal RFP, so that's not going to happen to the football grandstand.
[29:00]
And then maybe some playground above will bring a list.
[29:04]
Oh, our bid to high, is that what you're saying?
[29:06]
Let's go to high, over that threshold for bidding, so I have to go up for a formal RFP.
[29:14]
And on summer, as up to yesterday, Stephanie and her crew has served 5,882 meals for the same feedings.
[29:24]
Yeah, that's pretty incredible job on that.
[29:26]
That's awesome.
[29:27]
That's a lot of meals to be put out.
[29:32]
I'm kind of a part of you with some financial stuff.
[29:35]
Didn't get in the board packet, but you have last year's almost final and then personalized.
[29:42]
last year we did pretty good on spending and we're going to be it's almost fine
[29:46]
and I have a few more expenses coming in. We eat about that 95% of budget
[29:51]
spending, which I'm happy about because I think I'll refer to new students and
[29:56]
is going to be a little bit lower than what we expected. So, thank you.
[30:00]
Even now, we should be right on that budget, right on that budget line of our ending fund balance of what our goal was about that $3 million mark for a ending fund balance for last year. So we should be right there on that number.
[30:13]
We want to be for our future.
[30:17]
Looking at this year for the expenses, especially in July.
[30:21]
Don't be afraid of that million dollars.
[30:23]
We up front our insurance and workers' compagments and then we had a construction payment in there.
[30:28]
So that was, um, that was a little high, but we pay our liability general insurance up front
[30:34]
to a discount at 350,000 dollars right there.
[30:37]
I think, um, last year that came in August.
[30:40]
So by the summer spending, we should be even out between the two months of,
[30:44]
don't let that big number scale yet for this month.
[30:49]
Um, and that, you know, um, that your normal cash balances, your student counts for last year
[30:54]
and have any questions on that?
[30:56]
Let me know. I have a question on building. Are
[31:04]
you are you looking at selling the property or are you looking at. Well, that's why I'm going to ask you. I'm going to bring you some options and some expenses and that's honestly that is the boards that's the board's decision. Yeah. Yeah, I could say I love the projects that the school district needs to work on if we had the funds. That's great. But it's really, I mean,
[31:28]
We want to know I think we want to know what the property value is and then if we don't want to sell it
[31:34]
One what kind of improvements need to be done on the property in order to get a good lease for the
[31:41]
Well, yeah, I was I was going to bring that and I was going to bring you some expenses. It's you want to keep the bill
[31:47]
I mean yeah, so you got you got options. I just want to bring you to my spend this thank you and you can make the decision based on what
[31:55]
or wants to do this here, it's a lower statistician.
[31:59]
Did we have much interest in it before it became the library?
[32:04]
Or was the library like our own the option?
[32:07]
When the kitchen was in there, yeah.
[32:10]
So the kitchen's out.
[32:12]
But you can put a kitchen in there fairly easily.
[32:16]
You know, if you have a sandwich.
[32:17]
Do they want to go?
[32:17]
Or do they take the benefits to melt?
[32:20]
All the systems are out.
[32:21]
All the systems are out.
[32:23]
We do have a little leak.
[32:24]
have to take care of where the event went up, if the ass is ready, it's a electrical for a restaurant
[32:30]
that it's ready. We've had a couple of interests, as of as of now, I won't go into who are
[32:41]
wearing it. And of course, every leader has passed one, wants to sell it.
[32:49]
Yeah, so I mean, you'll have
[32:50]
If you want to keep it, you know, they'll be something that's expensive to that.
[33:01]
And there's assignments and repeat the financials yesterday.
[33:04]
So if we can note that.
[33:09]
You want to speak on the budget committee.
[33:12]
They can see an announcement from exploration of that.
[33:15]
You need.
[33:17]
Right before before you go on.
[33:18]
So if we sell that building,
[33:23]
that money has to be spent where.
[33:27]
If you can't go back in as we had capital, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's we can't go back in it.
[33:32]
No, we can't we can't I I thought maybe because it was we back a hundred years ago and the board bought it.
[33:38]
It was we don't have money, but we don't need it.
[33:42]
Yeah, so that will have to be spent on capital improvements.
[33:49]
We have to go down on it if we go on.
[33:52]
No, doesn't see how long enough it wouldn't have a difference.
[33:56]
No, no, if we if you were to rent it if you rent it out to a
[34:02]
a like a restaurant or something, then we would have to pay taxes on that again. But of course, we would.
[34:09]
We would, yeah, I mean for its rent rent for that, but if we rent it's not profit, then there's no taxes paid on it, that property taxes.
[34:20]
But if we sell it, no, we don't pay taxes. So there's no tax money, we sell that.
[34:25]
historically what have we it's been a money maker for us correct I mean
[34:32]
and we haven't it's been a money maker I think for the last time we put any money into it was
[34:36]
I think the roof is about 15 years old so I was a lot and then we did do maybe about $10,000 with a
[34:44]
rye rot and painting maybe five years ago I believe that was right anybody?
[34:49]
a couple of people. Yeah, a couple of realtors and then, and then, yeah, I know a local restaurant here who was interested in it, and then I've had another, another nonprofit that was,
[35:05]
It was a real person to put on a market or a real person to go in, you know, that was out there.
[35:09]
Yeah.
[35:10]
Yeah.
[35:11]
Yeah.
[35:11]
I mean, yeah.
[35:12]
So I would probably look that decision based on that.
[35:16]
The floor decided to use a realtor or, you know, I don't know, just hire a lawyer.
[35:22]
Yeah.
[35:22]
Something.
[35:23]
Yeah.
[35:23]
But yeah.
[35:24]
We'll talk about.
[35:25]
We'll have to talk about that.
[35:26]
I'll bring you something.
[35:27]
Probably next meeting.
[35:29]
Yeah.
[35:29]
That'll be.
[35:30]
I mean, that to me.
[35:31]
That's kind of.
[35:32]
It'll be interesting to see the numbers.
[35:33]
And, you know, that car also has a little sit there, right? I mean, we're not making anything, but we're not losing anything.
[35:39]
No, you know, we don't have a little bit of electricity, but yeah, you know, you know, you know, just
[35:44]
tell what he's facing. Yeah, by it, not be it. Exactly. Yeah. And you, and you just don't want to
[35:50]
sit in empty for too long. Oh, yeah, exactly. Yeah, because I mean, don't mean, we'll try to buy it every
[35:54]
day. Take a look. Yeah, I wanted to long and I can't say that since I've been here, it's only not been
[35:58]
for one month. That was just a transition month. So it's been, so technically this has never
[36:08]
not been rented out.
[36:10]
Right now. We're going to see weeks.
[36:14]
They just finalized their blue braid. Yeah. Thank you.
[36:24]
All
[36:27]
right, then then we have budget committee.
[36:29]
vacancy announcement and term expiration, release the board policy. You have to announce the
[36:36]
vacancy condition and then the possible term denuation of somebody's event will continue
[36:41]
their term. So we will need to open this up to applicants and you will need to go through
[36:47]
the interview process to try to point a new budget member to the vacant position and then once
[36:53]
to decide on that, you'll approve the vacant position,
[36:57]
person and the continuation term person, who's at the,
[37:02]
you know, sober and November body.
[37:06]
There's something that you need to be made aware of now,
[37:08]
and that's okay.
[37:11]
Okay.
[37:11]
When would we make that announcement that it's vacant?
[37:15]
Yes.
[37:16]
Okay, so we do we need to make a motion for that, too.
[37:19]
Okay, we just do it.
[37:20]
It's just, it's a, it's a point that we don't have to do.
[37:24]
This needs to be on the agenda for the record and you guys are all aware and important.
[37:34]
Okay. And then all building level reports, like I said before, will be presented in step ten,
[37:44]
sir.
[37:44]
Again, the next the future of meeting is September 9th, 2026.
[37:52]
six p.m.
[37:58]
We have any discussion items for future meetings.
[38:10]
Does anybody have any of those?
[38:13]
I would like to follow up. I know we had big discussions about our coaching situations.
[38:21]
And there was some overlap of getting
[38:32]
information from players, staff, parents, all that, that I cannot think of the name, what is that called when you do an evaluation.
[38:42]
And evaluation, so I think at the where that's at.
[38:48]
So there is an evaluation process that is already in place.
[38:54]
And I laughed from, this is my recollection of the situation.
[39:01]
Some of the evaluations did not happen on the athletic director's first year.
[39:10]
But going forward, I know that those are being put in play, those are will be handled and put in plays.
[39:20]
And I'm sure that we can when Riker does a presentation that he can bring that to the board when we, you know, when he comes and does this presentation.
[39:28]
Maybe that should be one of the first things that he does.
[39:31]
Yes, because it's been an issue.
[39:33]
Yeah, because you know what that looks like.
[39:38]
And I don't think we wanted, I don't think there was any movement forward on any board policy.
[39:45]
And I think that I don't think there's necessarily a need for a board policy for that unless there continues to be a problem going forward.
[39:57]
And yeah, I know how hard it is.
[40:01]
I think we all have been in a position where you're first year, you're, you know, thrown all these things and you're just trying to fumble around and get things done. So I think, you know, there's a change in leadership.
[40:16]
And the concern has been brought to the attention. So I think that we'll have a much better.
[40:22]
Hopefully, it'll be a much better handle on those situations so that there won't be so much frustration.
[40:29]
The follow-up on Tabletas, though, this discussion started like six months ago.
[40:35]
So we should have evaluations on track coaches right now, softball coaches and baseball coaches.
[40:41]
Because there was a big enough concern with enough people on the board that if we don't have those done, then I have a concern.
[40:50]
If those have not been done by now, we're here to the next school year. That should have been clean.
[40:55]
Those all those got you should have been completed 60 days ago.
[41:02]
I got.
[41:04]
Because there was the substantial concern.
[41:07]
Yeah.
[41:08]
Many more members said we weren't doing evaluations.
[41:12]
Well, I think I agree that we should have that they should be done,
[41:16]
but we also should have a consideration that the administrator that was in charge of all of that left.
[41:23]
Right. So.
[41:24]
Well, but, but Chris, what they said, we had of we had any valuation process at place.
[41:29]
We do, I think, but I haven't been able to do anything we just needed to do it.
[41:34]
So what I'm saying is, did we do it, we should have.
[41:37]
And I think that I think what I recollected was that they were digging into because nothing was left.
[41:45]
So nobody was able to access it. So I think the IT guy was trying to access Google Docs to make sure that he could
[41:54]
all those out so that nobody was trying to reinvent the wheel. They could just carry on.
[41:59]
What was already in place so that it could be done.
[42:03]
And I think they were talking with the prior administrator as well to figure out how to get that information back.
[42:10]
Okay, and I know that, you know,
[42:14]
Dion Marcho, who's six, well, principle,
[42:18]
in this case oversees athletics, right?
[42:22]
She's the principle and charge of buildings
[42:25]
and have athletics.
[42:26]
And so I know that she's been involved.
[42:28]
I've been involved in those conversations.
[42:30]
So that's part of the idea of making sure
[42:32]
that he has an opportunity to come in front of you.
[42:35]
So he can talk about his work, what he's doing,
[42:38]
And the plan right now is that I've asked that we put an athletic committee if you will together that's going to review the handbook kind of look at all the policies that's one of those protocols and procedures pieces that that I expect to have finished in the hope is that will convene that this fall.
[43:00]
And that'll be an ongoing committee that will look at all this, you know, carefully.
[43:06]
Yeah. Well again, it's been 60 days. I guess once again to reiterate, well, I guess why we're
[43:15]
dragging our feet. Again, I think they have. I think they have. I think they have no
[43:19]
concern about it. We haven't been presented. Well, I think we have, but we have, I don't
[43:24]
know who they need to report to you, whether it's a super tent or the principle, but they're
[43:27]
here. So we should be able to find out right now whether we have evaluations completed for
[43:32]
last fall or last brings well I honestly think that we should also consider the amount of
[43:38]
budget cuts and the changes that have been happening in the district and honestly those are
[43:44]
priorities versus an evaluation of a coach like making sure that you know we have the staff
[43:50]
that's needed all of those things changes being addressed all of that kind of stuff to me that
[43:55]
is 110% more important to make sure that we're prepared for this year going into
[44:02]
the new school year with all of the changes versus making sure that we have three coaches
[44:07]
evaluation done. So do I think it needs to be done? Absolutely. Do I think that the policies
[44:13]
or the athletic policies or whatever it might be need to be followed? Yeah. But I also think that
[44:20]
we need to have a little bit of grace for all of the people that have literally had their job
[44:29]
It's a blow and up in front of their face.
[44:31]
You know what I mean, and scrambling around to make sure that we're doing the very best we can for the district and the students coming in this year.
[44:37]
So I think I think your vet, I think your point is absolutely 110% valid of wanting to see them, but I also think we need to look at the full picture and make sure that we are showing some grace to everybody in the changes.
[44:55]
And if we have to, and we move forward, go in into this.
[45:00]
Is there something that is so, is there something that's so important that happened in the spring sports that I'm not aware of that we that's making it a bigger priority than it is.
[45:18]
Yes, man. I guess you look. I know where to talk about that by evaluating ways and so did we do the same thing with our teachers and so if we're just too busy with restructuring to worry about evaluating.
[45:28]
I mean, honestly, the increase in coaches are not even in the same. They're not even in the process of evaluation process and played for a reason and we have a policy in place to take care of it. So do we ignore our policies.
[45:39]
do we ignore our evaluations? What do we do? I mean, I understand we have
[45:47]
constant and I get that. I do get that. But that's stuff that the board
[45:52]
decided to do and there's job descriptions to tell people what they're supposed to
[45:58]
do in those jobs. Yeah, I mean, it's certainly under my purview in terms of
[46:06]
whether or not things are getting accomplished. I can tell you that the
[46:09]
conversations that occurred last spring around whether it went from there's no
[46:15]
evaluations to what are you talking about the
[46:17]
replacement evaluations. So it was going all over the place I'm like you
[46:22]
assuming and in my conversations with the athletic director that we are
[46:27]
evaluating. Do I have I looked at that? That's not in my work to look at the
[46:32]
evaluations that the AD does for the coaches. That's never been the superintendents
[46:38]
responsibility is it is it is it something that I would like to be a part of absolutely if I if I if I
[46:45]
my master assist in that kind of work no problem sitting down and taking a look at is this the right
[46:51]
evaluation form let's take a look take a look at a maybe a different tool things like that but I
[46:56]
think that's part of that I hope the committee work that's going to take a look at putting a
[47:01]
a handbook together and similar to when you bring up teachers teachers know the evaluation tool that we use
[47:08]
Like that's part of our responsibility of share with them.
[47:12]
Here's what you're going to be evaluated on.
[47:14]
And I would like to see us obviously do that with athletics as well.
[47:20]
I know that Crystal mentioned that there was somebody that had an evaluation system before.
[47:26]
It kind of went away.
[47:27]
They were looking at it.
[47:29]
So if you want specific information on that, I can certainly get that and give you a call.
[47:33]
I just want to yes or no.
[47:34]
Did we ever do it?
[47:36]
Again, I wouldn't, I wouldn't know that I should either understand that question is, did we even do it?
[47:41]
Yeah, I'll look into that for you.
[47:50]
And again, the board is about policy, not about, you know, personnel issues.
[47:56]
So if you're asking to want to see the evaluations of coaches, that wouldn't be something that I would see as something that would be a board responsibility.
[48:04]
Right.
[48:04]
And that's confidential, the kind of assuming I don't think we're asking for that, we're just asking that I shouldn't say we.
[48:17]
Whether the district is doing their job.
[48:23]
That would be my question that we're that we're evaluating our coaches and.
[48:28]
That's certainly the intent.
[48:30]
But that any question?
[48:34]
I mean, and that, like I said before, like the hard part is said, I mean, I mean, I understand what you're saying.
[48:39]
I do understand what you're saying.
[48:42]
But at the same time, an AD is getting paid for it and he's getting quite a few periods a day off to do his job.
[48:53]
So there's time a lot of it for his job.
[49:02]
I think we can move on from, I don't want to see her beat up a horse. I think we just give
[49:08]
the record the opportunity to come and speak. Yeah, that's an idea. Yeah, that's a lot of
[49:12]
really. Yeah, I think it'll be wonderful. And it'll, it won. It will help ease and build that
[49:17]
that relationship with with the athletic director. And I should have already
[49:21]
I think I'm just in for this, that's right.
[49:25]
Well, it's also something that you can contact the administrator for, you know, and check
[49:33]
what and check to make sure if it's been done or not.
[49:38]
Yeah.
[49:38]
Yeah.
[49:38]
I've made it clear when you said he talked to record about what expectations we had.
[49:43]
Yeah.
[49:43]
I feel it here to it.
[49:45]
I think so.
[49:48]
Okay.
[49:49]
Well, future meeting, like I said before,
[49:50]
will be on September 9th, 2026? Is there any other discussions or any other additions to the update on the coaches and evaluations?
[50:02]
Do we want to have any other items that we want to, I think we have.
[50:06]
I think I know, I, I would make the assumption that we do have one of the district has.
[50:10]
No, no, I, no, I understand that.
[50:12]
I'm in other topics to bring to future work.
[50:15]
I'm sorry.
[50:19]
Okay, with that being said, meeting as adjourned.
