[3:27] It was a wonderful activity, a whale boat race, it was a competition between keyboard,

[3:45] Maddenhorn Lakefront, there were food trucks, there was a lot of people there, and eventually

[3:50] we got into the crates.

[3:54] Mayor Cannon was saved, or is that what the word was, from by a boat that was commanding

[4:02] in your environment, please support it.

[4:04] And it was a close finish, it was a close finish at the end

[4:07] and Mayor Canyon pulled it off by racing

[4:10] and beating it everywhere.

[4:11] It was just a front day, and it was a nice activity.

[4:15] I hope they do it every year.

[4:27] property tax relief filing assistance event.

[4:29] that we had on August 26th, Marie, you did a fabulous job, your staff, one wash, everybody

[4:41] that came out to work, the event started at 1 o'clock at 10.30 in the morning, the line

[4:48] began to form. By the time I got there at 12.30, thinking I was a half hour early, the line

[4:55] was going basically halfway around the building and when we finally opened the doors it was amazing.

[5:04] I think by about two o'clock we actually had to close the event out because the state knew

[5:10] that they couldn't possibly work with any more people. We got to number one hundred I think in

[5:15] 90, 98, 198. There were easily over 200 people there. Even the people who weren't seen we helped them

[5:23] figure out where they could go next. What an event. And I have to give Kudos to Mayor

[5:28] Cannon because when he walked in and saw so many people sitting at so many tables, he

[5:34] said, you know what, they've been here a long time. Let's feed them. So he went out and he

[5:39] bought pizza and subs and drinks. And I think that really made everybody happy. They were very

[5:45] happy to be fed and get their filing done. So Kudos again, everyone, Brian, everyone in

[5:51] This office, successful, successful event.

[21:31] I also wanted to bring up, I mentioned it at the last meeting, but I don't know if it's a new format they were trying or a lot of us found it very helpful, there was interaction between the community and the council and the town manager, we were able to ask questions and they answered rather than having and no disrespect mentioned or meant, but rather than having one voice, it was helpful to hear from the other members of the council

[22:02] and the town manager directly.

[22:05] So if that was just a test run, I tried again

[22:09] because a lot of us found it helpful.

[22:14] I'm here tonight, again, bringing up the issue

[22:18] of the storm management system, especially on beach drive.

[22:22] And we need to, I'm requesting immediate response

[22:25] and something to be done because this can't go on.

[22:32] We have we were less flooded a major flood in 2014 and things have been pretty

[22:38] Stable there have been torrential downpours through the years that have not been any big deal

[22:44] In the last two months we've now been flooded twice in our home on the

[22:51] 7th of July and then again last Thursday

[22:55] Two other times in between

[22:57] I mean the street flooded, the backyard came onto our property and our yard was flooded.

[23:07] Fortunately it didn't come to the house and one other time in that same two month period, it started raining.

[23:17] I thought it sounds like it's raining really heavy.

[23:19] Let me go take a look.

[23:20] In a matter of two minutes, the storm drain in front of our house was already over.

[23:25] I mean, if we have a storm management system on our street that can't take two minutes of rain water

[23:32] We're in trouble and it's not acceptable. Do you know what the tide was at the time? I'm sorry

[23:37] Well, the storm drain on your street is only effective as high as the tide is

[23:44] No, it's the tide the tide come you follow me because the pipe outfalls into the bay

[23:48] So if the tide is high, it's much less effective that it loads high absolutely well

[23:55] Overall, it's not very effective because we need to clean the one out that's down the street from your house

[23:59] That's part of the upcoming road project, but in general, that's also a factor as well

[24:03] Well, they're gonna need to do I have pictures. They're gonna need to do more than clean out the main

[24:08] Outfall that's there, but the other issue

[24:12] is

[24:13] That each drive isn't the only one that uses those outfalls

[24:16] So it's the streets all above us all come down there and it's a waterfall effect and

[24:23] And we're the last guy there because it's flat, so we don't have any propulsion of the water to get there, so as these waterfalls are coming from up above us, they can fill that culvert.

[24:36] And if the culvert overflows before the bay is able to go out to the bay, it back washes to us.

[24:44] So basically our street is like a holding tank until the water can get out to the bay.

[24:49] And something has definitely changed recently because, like I said, we haven't had a major any big floods in 12 years and now, sadly, in two months.

[24:59] It just, nothing has, nothing is, plus we're also getting bombarded with mud.

[25:04] There's been mud coming from the south side of the street. I'm not sure where it's coming from.

[25:09] And it's also coming from the right across the street, the hill across the street from us.

[25:14] I have videos of just like this little waterfall of mud that ends up in our house, but it's also not been cleaned out.

[25:23] I know the water, it looks like water is going out of the two outfalls, although there's supposed to be three.

[25:30] It looks like water's going out, but I seriously doubt it's coming from beach drive, especially when the rain is really hitting hard, when you've got all those other drains from on top of us getting there before us.

[25:44] and pushing back to us if it can't get out to the bay at that point, it comes back to our street again.

[25:50] So, it's like we need to have an engineering, some kind of a capacity test.

[25:56] I mean, these things were built 50 years ago.

[25:59] When there was a lot less building, people made their homes bigger.

[26:03] There's also less water absorption because people have taken trees down and maybe put asphalt in or made homes.

[26:10] But it's just I know I talked to a neighbor that lived there prior to we were moving in and he said this has been going on for far longer than just being there since 2012.

[26:24] And it just can't continue.

[26:27] And we feel like I feel like we're having this road work done, but if we don't address the whole storm system and the outfalls are totally inadequate,

[26:36] The water is going to end up back underneath the roads, causing cracks again, causing sinkholes, so we're going to do all this work and be right back where we started from.

[26:47] It's kind of like that right now the storm drains on our street or like the road to nowhere.

[26:52] They can't get out, they can't get to the culvert, they can't get out to the bay, so just come on into my house or any of our houses.

[26:59] is unfortunately or fortunately we love our community

[27:02] and I love our neighborhood,

[27:04] but we're the lowest property there.

[27:07] We had no idea about all this when we first moved in

[27:10] and it's been like I said,

[27:12] fine already multiple times it's been fine

[27:15] for the last 12 years and suddenly in the last two months

[27:20] is it's not acceptable, it's not safe.

[27:24] I don't know what the muck is that comes into our house.

[27:27] We already had it remediated once and I'm welcome to do it again for another $4,000.

[27:34] So, but if it's going to keep raining like this or coming in like this every time, it's just one,

[27:39] I mean one torrential downpour. It didn't last that long. It was torrential, but it didn't last that long.

[27:45] I mean, we've had overnight torrential downpour as that nothing comes into our house.

[27:51] So, I'm asking for some kind of immediate response or plan or something to do more than nothing.

[28:02] Okay, so when we do the road projects, we're going to, do you have a plan for the storm system?

[29:51] downward. So I do understand that the property did receive water. She is the lowest point sitting there at the base and

[30:00] I think it's the, I mean, it's a foot hazard zone.

[30:02] in front of her house, sits in front of her home.

[30:05] Also, the property adjacent to her life

[30:07] is elevated so the water runs off of their property

[30:10] onto the side of the market.

[30:12] And so that also runs there and runs down

[30:15] on into the drive which leads into the home.

[30:21] we went over to clean out the basin by hand.
