[10:25] year's school year, but we did stay open from 4:00 to 8:00 throughout the week.

[10:29] So a lot of the other municipalities around us, they don't do

[10:33] that. Just so you guys know that they typically just open the weekend, shut down

[10:37] for the week, and then reopen the weekend.

[10:38] But we stayed open 4:00 to 8:00, and attendance was great.

[10:42] So the weather's been perfect.

[10:45] Planning for the pool season, obviously, it never really stops anymore.

[10:48] It's a year-round deal. So,

[10:50] hats off to Zach and Chris. We start hiring back in

[10:54] November. So we'll close this year in August and then take about a six-week

[10:58] hiatus and start back with the hiring process.

[11:06] Obviously, as Council is aware, alongside our engineers and design team, we

[11:08] carefully reevaluated the field house and police department,

[11:12] and reduced those costs by 25%, lowering the total estimate to 16.4

[11:16] million, from the estimated 20, without reducing the facility's

[11:19] footprint or impacting the business plan.

[11:24] And then so some of those premium amenities

[11:27] that we did

[11:29] remove for cost-effective reasons and

[11:33] alternatives were the traditional wood floors now replace those LED courts.

[11:36] The hoodie gathering area replaces the indoor playground, and the new common space

[11:40] replaces the concession multi-sports simulator area, allowing for more

[11:43] flexibility to utilize those spaces.

[11:46] So those modifications, along with reduction of sand volleyball, the redesign of

[11:49] utilities, allowed us to reduce that estimated cost.

[11:52] Obviously, the process wasn't simply about cutting costs, it was also about showing

[11:56] the community that we heard them, and we all heard questions.

[11:58] So, that's the big thing. And the other thing is without the footprint not

[12:01] being reduced, those amenities that I mentioned, this basically would

[12:04] be an alternative. So, or down the road. So those things aren't gone forever.

[12:08] The LED floors was a design, we'll save the traditional wood floors.

[12:12] But the other things, depending on fundraising or whatever, could still come back

[12:16] in another day.Internal Recreation Trail Project at City

[12:20] Park will start later this month, and conclude around the beginning of

[12:24] August-ish. This is the next phase of that recreational trail project.

[12:27] So this is the internal loop around City Park.

[12:30] And if you guys can remember,

[12:33] around almost a year and a half ago, the majority of this project

[12:37] had been funded through grants. So most, not all, but most of this project

[12:41] is funded through the Iowa DOT,

[12:44] and through their trails and grants.

[12:46] City Park playground is extremely busy again.

[12:49] Weekends are pretty much at capacity. Husky Health Day just occurred.

[12:53] Our parks were big beneficiaries of this.

[12:56] Split and bundle firewood, hedge maze with the rotary, the flower mounds in

[12:59] front of Carver Park, or it's front of City Park,

[13:02] with the master gardeners, and then the tree plantings in coordination with the

[13:06] Tree Commission.

[13:08] Friends of, we picked up 120 flower baskets.

[13:17] We got 120 of those from Harvey's, and then the next day around 4:30, we all went

[13:23] So the Friends of and some of our parks staff, we took over the

[13:31] been taking that over to date, and have done a fantastic

[13:34] job. Also, the Friends of group held a park

[13:38] rededication and mural reveal at George Washington Park.

[13:41] So if you have not had a chance to go check that out, Christine Hulbert, local

[13:44] artist,

[13:46] did that, and then also a local contractor, Clayton Stevens, took down the wall,

[13:49] put a new one up. And that project was, again, primarily funded

[13:53] with donations for that project.

[13:58] New water line installed at Giffen Fields with assistance from Winterset Municipal

[14:02] Utilities. That might be the longest service line in the history of service

[14:06] lines. If folks aren't familiar with that, it starts at the concession stand and

[14:10] runs literally due east under the creek, and hooks up, I don't know, 200

[14:14] feet to a main. So we've replaced that three or four different

[14:17] times in patches. So we tried to do as much replacement as we could finally.

[14:22] Upcoming programs, T-ball's in full swing with about 180 kids.

[14:24] Pitch, Hit, & Run will be a free event this Saturday.

[14:27] This program came back last year. It's a local event, lets kids who potentially

[14:31] go through this local competition go to a state level and so on and so forth, and

[14:35] potentially end up at the World Series.

[14:37] Pickleball's open, move in the park began Friday, June 19th.

[14:40] We've got swim lessons starting next week. Private swim lessons are open.

[14:44] Middle school recently held a cardboard boat race at the pools.

[14:47] We worked with the school district on that a little bit, and they had

[14:50] 120 sixth graders, I think, out there doing some cardboard boat races.

[19:29] in concert with Indianola, Madison County, and other

[19:32] communities that our South Central Iowa landfill

[19:43] Attended a food bank and Central Iowa meeting last

[19:47] Friday. It was very informative. I can tell you this, that

[19:52] the local food banks in Madison County, specifically Winterset,

[19:56] with our church and our PAW pantry, are well

[20:00] connected with the Des Moines area food banks.

[20:03] And the effort is to try and get

[20:06] information to people

[20:09] in a discreet

[20:11] and helping manner, because they realize that

[20:15] patrons that are attending their food banks are somewhat humbled

[20:19] or somewhat embarrassed, and that we talked a lot about

[20:22] that. How do we discreetly offer that assistance to people and retain their

[20:26] dignity and help them? So we're in a collaborative

[20:30] effort with the school, as well as the utility partners,

[20:34] to work with all of our people and identify demographics that might

[20:38] just be in need of a flyer or a QR code to find

[20:42] food in need so they can continue. So something that was

[20:46] kind of a little more touchy feely, I guess you could say, than normal

[20:49] operations.

[20:51] Projects, as I mentioned, wastewater treatment facility, we did cut that

[20:55] check for PAYF 10, after we got concurrence from USDA.

[21:00] I've been meeting with Travis Squires.

[21:01] We expect to get a rating

[21:04] from S&P,

[21:07] which we expect to be an A+ rating again.

[21:09] We did our due diligence meeting last week, which nothing changed from the last

[21:13] time we applied.
