[1:34] Commission works out to order. First of all, I want to welcome everybody and welcome guests. Thank you for attending.
[1:43] The first thing for discussion is the Christmas parade discussion. As we talk about this, one thing that I want to start out with is just the acknowledgement.
[1:57] kind of that set my
[2:05] just my reasoning here for this is that I think we've all been in situations
[2:11] in our employment careers where we work for jobs, work for bosses, sometimes it's just
[2:17] that they didn't want to hear whatever they didn't want to hear dissension and stuff.
[2:24] If you had concerns, they weren't really interested in stuff and one thing that has kind
[2:28] struck me is that it's not what we, that's not the kind of thing that I want to do as far
[2:35] as that, if they are concerned, if there are, you know, just some thoughts that I want all
[2:41] employees to kind of feel for you to share those. And to make those known and stuff, it's not
[2:48] meant to be, to turn into just a debate or to become adversarial. It's just that I think about things
[2:56] like the O-rings on the challenger is that that was a known problem but nobody from below said
[3:03] anything and then never did go upwards and so then there was a challenger explosion.
[3:09] So from that standpoint we're not dealing with anything like that big but also at the same
[3:14] time I want to stay you know if staff have concerns is that feel free to bring them to me
[3:20] and then I'm not just going to sit on, I'm going to bring those up for the to the commission
[3:25] to that hear the concerns that are raised and then go from there.
[3:30] Ultimately, I think we all all staff acknowledges that the decisions that are made in the
[3:37] direction that is given that comes from the commission.
[3:40] We fully understand that.
[3:42] We fully support that and understand the process and everything.
[3:46] But we also appreciate the fact that we can have these open discussions to make sure that
[3:53] making good decisions on behalf and for the community.
[3:59] So I just think it's important for us to kind of start from that standpoint.
[4:03] And that's my objective here is just to begin if I'm hearing concerns,
[4:08] I feel that you guys want me to pass them on and not just set up and stop.
[4:13] So from that one thing I will say is Lieutenant Herko is here to for the police.
[4:21] Assistant Chief,
[4:24] he is getting married, so that is something that they had already planned.
[4:29] They asked me, I felt like it handled this a little bit, and so I, that is why Chiefs
[4:36] happened and Chief Heath aren't here enough stuff.
[4:40] So, but gets into too much logistical, I'll let, we'll have Lieutenant Herko discuss, answer any
[4:49] question but I think we should be good. Overall I gave you the notes that were put together
[4:56] again like I said but don't want to get into debate it was just that we wanted to be able
[5:02] to voice our concerns to you and so from that standpoint it's just that some things that
[5:08] kind of jumped out at me that I wanted to make note of. Parade route would affect five major
[5:16] intersections that was pointed out. This was stated that it created a greater disruption to
[5:24] normal traffic flow than we experienced during our annual independence day celebration, as presented
[5:31] as kind of discussed if we close the Udwar Ringoed Absent Pike intersection.
[5:43] I'm thinking about
[5:46] Lee Highway that come in over the bridge from Aperson, where do they go if we had that completely
[5:52] blocked off and stuff for an extended period of time.
[5:57] So from that standpoint, there's just a few concerns about that, parade route being in
[6:03] the dark that provides, creates a little added specter of safety for anybody walking it,
[6:13] If we open it back up after we're, after we're done, what does that mean for pedestrians
[6:20] that might be needing to cross roads and that sort of thing?
[6:25] So there's a few concerns about that.
[6:28] As far as police and staffing and emergency response, all hands response from police
[6:34] department, and there's just that a little bit of it because we have a lot of intersections
[6:39] and traffic to kind of be managing at that point.
[6:43] And so police work, and certainly we would have enough hands on deck to be able to do that.
[6:52] And so those are just some of the issues I'm trying to looking over some of the things I've highlighted.
[7:00] Essentially we're talking about a, you know, when we have our July, we're just in this space, but we're creating an event space that's about a mile or a long or so.
[7:12] And so that creates a little bit more challenge, and then just also the parking itself.
[7:18] The community church parking lot, not sure that it's going to be available.
[7:23] There, at this time, they've indicated tasks they're not inclined for us to use as parking lot.
[7:29] And just...
[7:31] So that is really like I said, that is really all I really wanted to just kind of share that information.
[7:39] At the end of the day, if the commission is like, this is what we want, this is the date that we want it.
[7:47] Then staff will do our dead level best to have the events, make it, try to do our best to keep it safe for everyone and ensure the safety of everyone.
[7:59] one and put on the best possible event as much as possible.
[8:07] With that, I'll open it up for discussion.
[8:11] Mass a quick question.
[8:13] Since, for a second, for safety reasons and everything you've been
[8:18] heard on that that you know and all the rounds that we've done.
[8:20] What do you suggest is a good route to you?
[8:29] for everything that we are trying to do as a community,
[8:36] 630 in the evening, on a Sunday night.
[8:42] Saturday night.
[8:43] Saturday night.
[8:46] Me personally, I think the best is what we did last year.
[8:50] Thank you.
[8:51] They're just going to do it as Saturday night.
[8:52] I'm church poverty.
[8:54] Yeah.
[8:55] Because the university.
[8:57] It's Saturday night.
[8:57] It's a little property.
[8:58] So, but you asked me what the best route was.
[9:00] And I think last year, with everyone lining up on what is now innovation arrived, can we get
[9:06] up down the university and then everyone has anything out onto the church and school parking
[9:12] lots like we did last year.
[9:14] I think that that is the best option, but as the chief, the assistant chief and Lieutenant
[9:20] booth, all of us have discussed, whatever y'all tell us to do, we will get it done, the best
[9:29] But would Sunday be an option to that Sunday instead of Saturday?
[9:35] Because after the sun goes down on Sunday, then it would be open.
[9:39] Yeah, I apologize.
[9:40] I understand you.
[9:41] What's in the business?
[9:43] The only problem at the school, I think that's...
[9:46] Yeah.
[9:47] Concerns we have.
[9:50] This is part of it.
[9:52] So I got a couple of suggestions.
[9:54] And that, you know, I didn't appreciate the bus mayor and what she came up to start this discussion.
[10:02] I still think me personally, the best route is to have people go into the ball field, line them up that way.
[10:11] These times the ball field.
[10:13] They come out and go left on a little day parkway.
[10:20] left on some pipe at the red light, and the red dot will be closed,
[10:29] one line so they couldn't
[10:31] come all the way over into, because they'd be in the storage line.
[10:35] I know there's a rest, but we can put up barriers and stuff to kind of come down, that short
[10:41] distance from the ball field to the red light there.
[10:46] Take a left on AppSumPyke, and go down one side of AppSumPyke,
[10:53] make a new turn at X on, come back up, and then go back into the
[11:00] ball field at that point.
[11:04] I don't remember how many people, because the past year,
[11:09] how long it was.
[11:11] I think last year was a little bit smaller than anticipated,
[11:14] because it was below freezing.
[11:17] Yeah.
[11:17] It was very cold.
[11:19] I've been very vocal about two things.
[11:23] One, I think we need to combine both events in a one.
[11:27] I think I think we'd have better crowds.
[11:30] Secondly, I've been very opposed to doing it on a school night, because I think that detracts
[11:35] from families, Sunday nights or tough, parents are trying to get their kids back in the
[11:40] groove to go to school the next morning.
[11:44] What if we did it on Thanksgiving night?
[11:47] You've got families in town, you've got a lot of people in town.
[11:51] They're looking for something to do other than a $20 movie ticket.
[11:56] What if we did a Sunday night, Christmas parade, and combined both into that night?
[12:02] It would avoid Sabbath.
[12:06] McKee's going to be shut down.
[12:10] I think traffic should be considerably lighter on Thanksgiving night.
[12:16] Would that be Thursday night?
[12:18] The Thursday night?
[12:19] Yeah.
[12:20] It doesn't.
[12:21] I think a lot of people go out of town.
[12:24] Well, it depends. I mean, all of our family comes to our house. So we've got 25 people looking for something to do.
[12:36] I just think something to help and they like that is bad choice.
[12:40] Because we do the, our family does the boat parade every single year.
[12:46] The Friday after Thanksgiving for us, that's a family tradition.
[12:50] And I think it's a chance to do something very similar here.
[12:55] I don't just, you know, you were talking about what's for your family and I understand that I see where you're coming from.
[13:04] Not family, we're doing a lot of traveling.
[13:07] Oh, thanks, give me, give me, give me back.
[13:09] You know, there's not much of it left so we try very much to get together.
[13:14] So to me, I mean, y'all do much, I won't.
[13:16] It'd be hard for me to do it on Thanksgiving.
[13:19] Number one, I'm pooped out from cooking and traveling.
[13:22] That's just been personal because I leave Wednesday, we go down and cook, and sometimes
[13:28] I don't get home after I've been down Thursday.
[13:32] Yeah, I think for our staff on the holiday weekend,
[13:38] but to have to do that,
[13:44] you know,
[13:44] I would not want to personally ask them to do it.
[13:47] I don't think it's given up.
[13:48] The one thing that kind of strikes me, and like I said,
[13:55] is that nothing art, art, art,
[13:59] particularly out, doesn't lend itself easily to a parade, a parade, and I know that
[14:09] Christmas parades are great, but that is, in my opinion, half of the challenge is
[14:15] is that we don't have a clear, easy parade route that really lends itself where people can
[14:26] park easily and get to the parade route, watch it, and then get back to their vehicle
[14:31] sees.
[14:32] And stuff, you've been talking with you, I've mentioned East Ridge, and so I was looking
[14:39] at that and had a discussion and chiefs out talk with them a little bit about what there's
[14:48] are along that main road and stuff and but it's got all of those side roads to go off
[14:55] for people park, walk up and sit and watch the parade and then go back.
[15:00] It's a little easier to get out, get back and forth. To me, that's probably one of the biggest challenges
[15:06] is that we have looking at it. It's, it's, you know, where do people park to be able to walk to,
[15:13] wherever we're doing it. So we could block or get the property over here again.
[15:21] All the businesses around here. They're going to be closed on the weekend.
[15:26] And I know you said some of the business owners over at
[15:31] track-trust five shopping center, Vietnam,
[15:34] they're good friends of mine who managed the lost
[15:36] potterals, since they would love for it to have it there
[15:39] because it brings business into them.
[15:42] And it's, you know, they'd love to participate some of these
[15:47] as well.
[15:48] But I talk to track-trust of five, too.
[15:51] And they had no objection because, again,
[15:59] I didn't say that somebody said that, I'm just saying that that's when I was talking to you that they might object to it.
[16:08] We haven't even had any conversations.
[16:11] At the end of the day, one thing that we always have to remember, though, is that we're always working with the good graces of any of these businesses and staff.
[16:19] and that we're holding a city event and relying on parking
[16:24] that they provide to us if they want to.
[16:28] The thing that concerns me is that one incident
[16:32] and stuff if somebody trips and falls or something like that,
[16:38] then we're looking at their looking at potential litigation
[16:41] and stuff like that.
[16:42] That is a concern that I don't think you can just dismiss after I was here.
[16:46] No, but we've had that for a year.
[16:48] Sure.
[16:48] The fourth of July we've had it here for a year, I mean, and I know that we do an entrance policy over here.
[16:59] What do we do on the McKee's property across the street?
[17:02] What do you have?
[17:04] What is that?
[17:05] No, I don't know what it's called.
[17:06] Police agree.
[17:07] Police agree.
[17:07] Yeah, yes.
[17:09] Police agree.
[17:09] So, you know, I mean, we've been doing it in both of July, just now all the businesses
[17:15] is, in fact, there's some part of parking lot for hours.
[17:18] It's probably from about five o'clock until 10 o'clock.
[17:22] When everybody gets to clear that out.
[17:24] I mean, we've got that.
[17:25] We've got parking over at first horizon,
[17:28] and some of those businesses up there.
[17:30] We've got parking lot,
[17:36] and you can go up to a high school,
[17:38] middle school, and park there, and walk down.
[17:40] I mean, there's a lot of places people can park at.
[17:43] But I will tell you, I've been up to clean,
[17:46] And on key street, their Christmas parade, it's the same top as probably East Bridge.
[17:53] I mean, we went over there at 819, we knew it was Christmas parade, and we parked down
[18:00] the side street because we can't get to the restaurant.
[18:04] I just think that there's a lot of roads.
[18:08] They have to be concerned with as well as us, but I think if we come up with a different
[18:15] rate route everybody likes. I don't want to shut down ooloring or I think that's the main
[18:20] thoroughfare we've got to keep open.
[18:26] Could we talk to some of our office to work with us? Is this a staging area?
[18:32] A lot to lean on.
[18:33] Well, remember Jack, three years ago, did not want. He said he can't protect the prey people
[18:40] in the prey even at cell days. So that's why I was thinking that we shut down.
[18:47] That's the pocket that lives in poor play and can come up the ball field through the ball field out.
[18:54] Excuse me, but has anyone, do you say that no one's talking to the businesses?
[18:57] Has anyone talked to the church yet?
[18:59] Yes, and they've sent the notes.
[19:02] That right now they're not inclined to let us use that particular.
[19:09] This is basically a book
[19:12] for staging, I think.
[19:16] University's good, I think, for my share.
[19:18] The thing is having to deal with it the fact that you say private community.
[19:21] And we have to, we'd have to do it before, can't do it Saturday night, but have we done
[19:28] after or sundown, or now most schools are out for the whole week?
[19:35] Now, not just, when's the Thursday and Friday?
[19:38] But most schools are going for the whole week, as parents have complainer, how much account,
[19:43] Georgia schools, surrounding schools, the kids are getting a whole week for, for thanks
[19:48] given the share.
[19:52] I'm still trying to understand the parade route.
[19:55] So start stage over at the, at the, at the ballfields.
[19:59] Yeah.
[19:59] Come up the driveway.
[20:01] Yeah.
[20:01] Take a look.
[20:03] I don't know.
[20:03] Is that a tenth of a mile?
[20:07] Down to the intersection.
[20:08] Take another look.
[20:10] So in, once you get the intersection, take a look.
[20:13] And then the parade will hug the westbound lanes going in, you know.
[20:20] either side, it doesn't matter, it wants to get the X on like a U term and come back up, so everybody else can, you know, see it out, call it close.
[20:29] Okay.
[20:29] The only thing is, is when they go this way, and they do the U term, go on back, and this side can't see the other side.
[20:35] I think this guy down's twin year, and then Pride Blots end up at the Commons.
[20:39] What we're serving as park and spots for the Pride Blots.
[20:42] And then they're already there for the second part of the event, the Christmas tree lighting.
[20:47] because that would still lead you to the park.
[20:49] You need to set over there.
[20:50] Yeah.
[20:50] The cul-de-sac and front of the honor.
[20:52] You just have the floats actually end up at Founders Hall.
[20:56] And they stage there that way they can attend.
[20:58] The Christmas tree lighting.
[20:59] Santa Claus arrives.
[21:00] That's where they park.
[21:02] We just don't let it.
[21:03] I just know a lot of people want to write down their floats.
[21:06] Get out there.
[21:08] Yeah.
[21:08] Yeah.
[21:08] It would be difficult.
[21:10] And they can go all the way through which her left and leave.
[21:19] guess I would just have to be a condition of being in the parade as you don't get to leave that lot until the set time.
[21:27] Can I offer a suggestion?
[21:30] So we are the parade.
[21:31] You also have about 50 ROTC cadets and they seem to be always the ones that are like,
[21:39] where do I pick up the kids?
[21:40] I'm supposed to go over here and I'm now being told to go over here and so we're going to have all these kids here.
[21:46] What if that's what you guys choose to do because you will have those people that have the animals
[21:52] You know, depending on the weather and you want to get those animals home the kids stuff like that. If we designated
[21:59] We're gonna shut it off. If you want to keep going, you continue on to
[22:04] Leone and then exit out into a wringle or if you want to turn it state when you have to be designated to
[22:10] All right, we know flow it's three through seven. We're gonna turn in towards found us all
[22:14] than 8 through 12, we're going to keep going.
[22:16] They just have to designate ahead of time
[22:18] what they're going to do so traffic, no.
[22:19] I think that works.
[22:21] Luckily, we don't have animals anymore in our parades.
[22:26] I knew we'd just stop the dance in horses,
[22:28] but I didn't know if anyone put like a cow.
[22:30] The Supreme Council is back on the city on the city.
[22:33] No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
[22:37] Yeah, you shut up, I'm crazy.
[22:39] It says that I've been in the four that people that have animals, either of their animals have a little
[22:45] basket on the very end by your own contacts or they have their own people more round, scooted up.
[22:51] No, no.
[22:52] Lieutenant, would they be able to just, if they went right up, swan y'all, up to where the...
[22:59] back in, could they just pull over there to break down, did we just designate that as the
[23:06] ending spot, where they could break down and then go?
[23:09] Yeah, we just, we have it.
[23:11] Yeah, we just, just out and off the right, right here at Fortlander's place, and like, hey,
[23:16] you're, this is the list of people that should be pulling off into the back and parking area
[23:22] to break down or what have you, and that will limit,
[23:27] because if you tell parents that, okay,
[23:31] my junior ROTC, this is where they're going to end up,
[23:35] then you will have 50 cars already parked
[23:38] there waiting to get their children.
[23:40] That's true.
[23:41] When I used to believe in one middle school
[23:43] where they picked up my bat,
[23:46] I know I put my son up there many times,
[23:48] and crazy into there,
[23:50] I think when I'm back down to the, um, not all of them.
[23:54] So I just wrote all my back down to where they originated,
[23:57] Jacques Hatt wrote, and that wrote the show off.
[24:00] And they just pulled in there and stopped.
[24:01] That's where we used to have it.
[24:03] And they walked from there on the way down.
[24:05] There's a nice little wall.
[24:07] People parked on the sides and everything.
[24:09] And it seemed to work well for a while.
[24:11] And we did the ballpark, which, that was fun,
[24:16] because you want to use up all the little living park
[24:18] way shooting it down.
[24:19] But this year, this is the route chosen.
[24:23] All they have to do is walk in founder's hall to the beautiful 350.
[24:29] The parking lot.
[24:30] They can pick a, if you're on a float like a baseball team or something, tell them, they don't
[24:37] let the behavioral case just wandered towards the parking lot,
[24:44] but the only issue there
[24:46] be your disassembly because someone, oh, I didn't, I signed up last minute and I didn't
[24:51] know about this and we may tell them before you need people along.
[24:54] Well, I want to see the Christmas crew lying and it could just turn into a little bit
[24:57] issue and that's what she used to do.
[25:00] Do you tell them they're getting cold with that point?
[25:02] I'm sorry.
[25:04] And the way that we do are is we find out what spot, what number you are when you get there.
[25:12] don't designate ahead of time because people will show up late and then it just makes it harder
[25:17] for other vehicles to get in place. So it would be a almost spot making a list and trying
[25:24] to get it too. Well, and I think that's more doable than I could even be like a shared Google
[25:32] sheet so you can get it on your phone. Yeah, I mean I wouldn't put, I would put it on my officers
[25:37] are very good. I would put someone that was more seasoned to be paying attention to something
[25:42] like that. And if I'm in the same position that I was last year where I was lining
[25:48] everybody up, okay, you know, do you plan on pulling into founders all over, no, and then
[25:56] I just marked that off and I share that as we go.
[25:59] Some people like the older cars or new sport cars, they may just drive when they go after they get through just going out when you drive the home.
[26:10] So now changing for mine.
[26:13] Commission, if you're here to do what the Commission is.
[26:16] If you guys are open to letting us, because I was thinking about what you're about.
[26:21] If we did that on the north side of down and made a new turn down by Exxon and came back this way and went back in.
[26:30] If you're open to letting us create the route and to something that we can manage a little easier,
[26:40] I mean, if you're open to that, I think, and still have a lengthy parade route,
[26:45] I think that we might be able to give what you guys are wanting and stuff.
[26:50] So how long is the parade last last year?
[26:53] I've been going to it.
[26:54] I'm tired.
[26:55] I was tired.
[26:58] It was a little bit over now.
[27:00] And it was not a mile long.
[27:02] How many participants total?
[27:04] I think last year it was 60.
[27:09] It was cold.
[27:10] It was cold.
[27:11] It was cold.
[27:12] But I think I'm more than a handful.
[27:15] Didn't show up because it was.
[27:16] It was the coldest parade I've ever had.
[27:19] That's one reason I didn't get it.
[27:22] I walked it, it was very cold.
[27:25] So are we saying set a start in Inspot and y'all decide how to get from point A to B, or?
[27:30] I think if you guys are open to that, I mean, I think we can come up with something that'll be a little
[27:37] easier to manage, but still have some to have a lengthy, long enough parade route and stuff.
[27:45] Yeah, I think that's a good suggestion, because I like the idea that if people are parked
[27:50] over in that area and staff and then as seen as we're done, if they're all coming back
[27:57] this way and going out that direction, that they can kind of pull off to the side, get
[28:03] their staff together, and then either stay or continue on if they're not going to the
[28:09] life.
[28:09] What I like about that, too, is that I'm going to add some pot, I mean, I'm going to go out
[28:14] while we're going over, if you didn't get some fight, if I get to the keys to war, or if
[28:20] you need to do someplace else, I'll probably probably have ways to have a little David Parkway,
[28:26] and most of the workers are charged ship after sundown on Saturday, I believe, except for the
[28:32] truckers, and they roll, I think.
[28:34] Like, after 10, not like, you know, Sunday, but anyway, we know it's important for them so we won't be considered about that, but at least employees still have to get to.
[28:44] And I like that, because if we're not extending out into the intersection itself, then people coming over the bridge from absent direction, then they still have options of which way they could go.
[28:58] And ring gold, and then come from Lee Highway, same thing, is that traffic is going to be unimpeded.
[29:08] Because we're Chris and I were waiting to hear back from Tita and to close that intersection down completely.
[29:16] I think we're going to be concerning to them.
[29:19] The side Daisy has it too on a state highway, and Easter is a side Daisy and also it's keeps for you.
[29:27] I can't remember the state.
[29:29] You know the state road.
[29:31] But it's not lying just like us.
[29:35] But more businesses and stuff.
[29:39] So what about the date?
[29:42] That's the second wrinkle in that.
[29:45] Is there a better date that would work?
[29:49] I think we need to think of him.
[29:52] Jim McKee has been very vocal, but not one ever, right?
[29:56] On a Saturday night.
[29:58] Pillight.
[29:59] Pillight.
[30:00] Public comment pre-speached— What time do they go to work over, what time do they go to work across
[30:16] the trots roll out?
[30:19] But then, you had to understand, too. Waquie is a seven-day Adventist community.
[30:24] So, they're very strict, I mean, for example, they don't donate things for football night,
[30:31] for if you're in sports, they'll donate two schools for health and all that, but they
[30:36] don't play games, anything that's played on a Friday or Saturday, no, it's to boot.
[30:42] So, after Sunday?
[30:43] So after Sunday?
[30:43] Until after?
[30:44] Well, yeah.
[30:44] But Sunday is not to Sunday.
[30:47] No.
[30:47] Saturday.
[30:48] Saturday.
[30:49] Saturday.
[30:50] Saturday.
[30:50] in the wintertime, Sunday at the 631?
[30:53] Yeah.
[30:53] So, each time after 631, I was sorry, not.
[30:56] They can do things.
[30:57] I said, I had a lot of balls, soft balls, that plays.
[31:01] I'm sorry now.
[31:02] I know they did something.
[31:03] I'm sorry now.
[31:04] I thought it was with their school, but I didn't know what it was for sure.
[31:07] And I think that, once you get to November, December, the sun goes down around
[31:10] Bob 30.
[31:11] Because then, quickly.
[31:13] And their discussions that they've that Connie has had, like, sure, she's not here.
[31:20] that Connie has had with me is that as soon as it's sundown on that Saturday on the 21st,
[31:27] because at that point they're shipping everything, all the little Christmas trees,
[31:33] they're going out, close to coast that at that evening. And so that soon sundown goes,
[31:41] is that that's at that point they're ready to ship things out.
[31:45] I think the Christmas tree cakes would have already been delivered before that,
[31:57] I'm just going off what she said is that that is when they have a lot of things going.
[32:03] You would know.
[32:04] Out the door.
[32:06] So we only have to shut down until nine max for everyone to clear out.
[32:11] That's not a big delay for them.
[32:17] It's not as much of an impact if we just say we're not closing down the Udwa, the four corners, I think there's a work around with that.
[32:30] A little bit at that point.
[32:34] The 28th is the following Saturday and then December 5th is Saturday after that.
[32:46] One thing I do want to point out is that Christina has been working on setting the dates for getting
[32:56] like market vendors and different things like that.
[33:00] And she's not sure whether some of them at this point that she's already had them like Santa
[33:07] is one instance that she's already had that set and stuff.
[33:11] So, she'll do a best to get somebody else if it's a different date than what she is originally
[33:17] set it on.
[33:18] I don't know if we'd want a lot of vendors taking up our space for the price floods
[33:21] but need to go.
[33:22] Sure.
[33:22] I'm there with you.
[33:24] So, just Christmas tree lily.
[33:26] It's an hour, maybe an hour and 15 minutes for the private cell.
[33:32] Yeah, you have to operate and then press tree lighting.
[33:35] People are going to be ready to go.
[33:36] Thanks for coming.
[33:38] Thanks for coming from the rest.
[33:41] So
[33:46] are you still thinking the 21st or are you looking at other things?
[33:51] I don't really like the 21st, but, you know, that's the one.
[33:56] I think maybe after I don't, you know, usually Santa Claus comes in sometimes I'm Thanksgiving
[34:05] morning.
[34:07] I have a lot of places I haven't come in then.
[34:11] I guess it's just me, my tradition of not having Santa Claus come in before.
[34:16] I don't know.
[34:16] I don't know.
[34:19] I don't know.
[34:21] I don't know.
[34:22] I don't know.
[34:25] I don't know.
[34:25] I don't know.
[34:26] I don't know.
[34:26] What is Thanksgiving?
[34:27] What is it?
[34:28] It is the 26th.
[34:30] Yeah.
[34:30] Yeah.
[34:30] I'm with you, Dave.
[34:31] Yeah.
[34:31] I think before Thanksgiving, it's just a little too premature.
[34:35] I'm sorry.
[34:35] You want to get Thanksgiving over with to get in the Christmas spirit.
[34:40] And that Friday people hit Thanksgiving that morning after that.
[34:43] Because Easter is just, there's the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
[34:47] There's the 21st.
[34:49] Easter is just, and there's on the 21st.
[34:51] They're going to hit it that black Friday.
[34:52] So that would be, I mean, that's not Christmas decorations as well.
[34:57] Yeah.
[34:57] It's not Halloween yet.
[34:59] I got it from the commentator.
[35:01] I got Halloween Christmas and Thanksgiving.
[35:03] How about 21st would be more accommodating for our staff,
[35:06] that way they could have Thanksgiving weekend,
[35:08] if they are going out of town.
[35:12] But I'm found whether they're the bigger thing I was concerned about
[35:14] is moving the parade back to the comments areas.
[35:17] So we could do one larger band.
[35:21] Well, and I think Chris correct me if I'm wrong.
[35:24] And it's that you guys would be able to do a lot of staging
[35:27] as on the few days beforehand and stuff
[35:32] to have everything pretty much ready to set in place
[35:35] if we're condensing things to the round our events,
[35:41] you know, footprint.
[35:43] You'll be able to get a lot of things set in place
[35:46] and be staged so that it depending on which day you did it,
[35:52] that you would be able to, even if it was over that Thanksgiving weekend, is that they could quickly move and move things in a place on say that Saturday to get that done.
[36:06] Yeah.
[36:07] One day I would like to use the places for the business that I talked with last year that may concern was the garbage.
[36:13] People filling up the garbage cans. They ask that if if we could provide garbage cans on the property, then they can fill them up.
[36:21] because they're overflowing, their garbage cans aren't big enough.
[36:26] I don't know, ex-son and who is at the place right there
[36:29] by the Dollar Tree, by and there,
[36:32] because people fill up their garbage cans.
[36:35] It's overflowing, and they need a bigger garbage can out there.
[36:39] I mean, we provided cans for last year's Christmas breed,
[36:45] and similar to the Freedom Fest we could do that as well.
[36:51] Well, one thing I'm going to say, and I'm going to quit doing is just assuming silences,
[36:59] consent, or a scent.
[37:02] So, good, clear direction from you guys on the date.
[37:07] It's really what I need.
[37:10] I think, Alonio, to what you suggested about working out the plan with everyone involved.
[37:18] My concern is the date, that's the big thing, so what do you want me to ask?
[37:23] The dates don't be killed for many hours.
[37:26] I don't think we need to ask Connie to explain.
[37:30] We are going to all ring the open, and we will not be shut down. Is that impact? And ask for what our truck sir rolls out, because people can get to work.
[37:45] Yeah. Well, the trucks can't go through down the main street because of the train trussle unless they, well, no, because they have to go through it and return it. They have to come down parkways over the parkway in order to get out that way.
[37:59] It didn't matter.
[38:00] It did not matter.
[38:00] We were rolling because of the sun down and just about that time, it's great stories.
[38:07] Because they had to load up.
[38:11] Okay.
[38:11] You can ask, finally, that, and see what she thinks.
[38:15] The net, the net should be brought up.
[38:16] Yeah, it does.
[38:18] I'm opening any suggestion after that.
[38:20] They won't.
[38:22] We need to take a David up the top of the sun.
[38:25] So we have 20 years open.
[38:28] When I check with Lee N. Yes?
[38:29] So are we saying the 21st of the 28th, or are we loosely, or the fifth, or the fifth, I don't want to go later than the fifth because nobody wants to go to Christmas tree lighting after they've already been looking at Christmas trees.
[38:44] I think that I like where we've always said I'm the third, the first Sunday of each December, so we've always done it.
[38:49] When did we get the last year?
[38:51] One day.
[38:52] The parade?
[38:53] The second Sunday.
[38:56] 14th of December.
[38:57] So, we do it the first Sunday or the December.
[39:00] We're always used to do it.
[39:02] We did it the first Sunday of December.
[39:03] That is school life, though, because they're still in the bush.
[39:07] You're wanting to do a late night.
[39:09] Well, yeah, because school is out on this from the 17.
[39:13] Then, have to be that last weekend in November.
[39:18] So, the kids would be out of school.
[39:22] The housing county is in school, at least in the two days of Thanksgiving.
[39:29] I don't have a couple of weeks
[39:37] off, and as-
[39:38] So check on the 28th and 5th to see my building.
[39:47] Yeah.
[39:47] I'll stick with it.
[39:50] Currently, the 28th is open on the city calendar for the comments because of it being the holiday.
[39:56] And the fifth is pending already being booked.
[40:02] Okay.
[40:03] 28.
[40:04] 28 is on what day?
[40:06] Thank you.
[40:06] Thank you.
[40:07] Thank you.
[40:09] I'm a Saturday after Thanksgiving.
[40:10] I don't know.
[40:11] That would kind of go online with the Black Friday
[40:13] and Santa Claus coming to town.
[40:15] No, just places and stuff.
[40:17] So why don't you check with Connie?
[40:21] So, like we've got possibilities for the 28th.
[40:26] Now, we have to thank anybody so we can have a nice given.
[40:30] So, and then let us know, and then ask us, would you definitely prefer?
[40:35] No, okay.
[40:36] We can respond to you individually.
[40:42] So, I can do that.
[40:44] And the rail.
[40:50] Thank you, Lieutenant.
[40:51] For a good idea.
[40:55] All right.
[40:56] Moving on, the US flag veterans memorial park discussion.
[41:00] We do have some members, one member, from the,
[41:11] I always get a mixed up VFW, thank you.
[41:15] And so, I don't know if you've seen the agenda that management summary that I put out and stuff.
[41:22] I proposed basically that we put out the bigger flag for flag day, which is falls on June
[41:35] 14th and then independent stay and we just keep the large flag up between flag day, June
[41:42] 14th and independent stay and then take it down afterwards and then again on veteran stay.
[41:48] So, with that, I'll just kind of open it up to any discussion of what the commission thinks.
[41:56] What up to the commanders, Smith, back there on meeting.
[42:01] And he's perfectly fine to keep it at that 20 by 30 flag.
[42:07] He's trying to keep us from having an extra work as well.
[42:11] And I appreciate that.
[42:15] I think the 20-30 flag was a bit of a fly as better than the heavier flag, that was
[42:22] back to the ones of those.
[42:26] My suggestion was only a starting point for the discussion.
[42:32] I think correct me if I'm wrong.
[42:37] I was sorry.
[42:37] I agree with you, but you correct me if you wanted what was suggested before for safety issues.
[42:45] are y'all more inclined to keep it
[42:50] and what y'all were suggested to begin
[42:52] or do y'all think it's feasible to change it
[42:55] for the larger for these certain days
[42:56] because it does go close to the ground for half mass.
[42:59] It does fly, I know.
[43:01] Or in fact, it's capable of picking a man up
[43:03] when the wind comes strong.
[43:07] Justify that because my son flew it.
[43:10] When he had the help, he would fly up in the air
[43:13] I think I loved it, you know, but I know Dennis had talked about that safety that he would be in more, that's my concerns, more safety.
[43:27] Do you have anything to say, sir?
[43:33] So one point I did, the confirmed size of our platform, so if it's 120 feet, it's all that is the minimum size to fly at 30 foot 5 feet before flying.
[43:45] So that's telling you that whole just makes minimum the height because you should always average according to the maximum size of the height of the line.
[43:57] But that doesn't take into the mechanics that are built in this, so that it's the minimal for that size, but it may not be the minimal for the best capability for the mechanics inside the black hole and work it.
[44:10] But if we want to look at it, according to the black hole, the warranty flag is the characteristic flag, which is a 20 to a 30 to a 40 to a 40.
[44:19] And that is large flag as far as I need to alteration, so let the 30 foot left, let me put flag that usually, you know,
[44:28] camping world, and Mr. Leonis doing his, is a, or do you wish they also find for that protest, but,
[44:36] rolling out so, 20 by 38, the nearest flag, is the tip way to top it, is the largest flag, and of course you have flag,
[44:44] it's also large flag and flag on military installations.
[44:47] The one below that is usually found on non-Hallody, is the post-like which is a 10-fold
[44:56] by 19-foot-like.
[45:20] So, the most flag is 17 by
[45:27] 113A, 8 foot, 8 foot look, 8 foot look, 7 foot, so it's a little smaller. Our recommendation is if we're going to fly the air supply again, we're going to get some flag up, because it is the smaller one we put up. It's not that drastically different from a visual standpoint, but it's there.
[45:49] 30 by 50 up on the pole and, you know, it should be select holidays.
[45:56] We have organizations ourselves,
[46:01] suitable high school, that can come out of and assist
[46:05] the city if it's needed to raise and lower the flag, but then we look at which holidays
[46:12] are going to choose from.
[46:14] So, you know, in US flag vote and in military regulations, there's a set number of holidays to
[46:18] why the Lord is flagged on, but it also said that you can fly at a smaller version and
[46:24] a little bit of that one for saving experience.
[46:27] And since we're not military, we wouldn't have to amount that back.
[46:32] Yes, but it is recommended.
[46:34] So for our organization to be up to the American Legion, are our servo-one, regularly, or
[46:40] bylaws, and servo-one or manual procedure, says the fall of the military, or US Army
[46:46] to build a ceremony, manuals, and that covers the Yosami flag
[46:51] and needles, and everything, as well.
[46:55] If an organization does not have a set standard,
[46:58] it is recommended to use the Army and Yosami manuals,
[47:03] et cetera.
[47:04] So that's where we're making that recommendation
[47:07] to kind of follow what the military manuals say,
[47:11] because they're in line with the Yosami flag code,
[47:14] but fly on those like holidays,
[47:15] We can put the larger one up, and it says, but then again, if I come into watch holiday,
[47:25] we're going to get an I see on the notes, it's like a for the July, better in the day,
[47:32] but I would argue Memorial Day is the most important.
[47:36] And that's tough because it's half, half, half, half, half, half, half.
[47:40] It's half, half, half from sunrise and zoom, and you're putting it back on full staff.
[47:44] So there's some extra matter of labor involved to that.
[47:49] But these days, schools out.
[47:51] Let's just sit down here.
[47:53] So unless you've got kids going to summer school,
[47:55] or have them call out and get paid paid.
[47:57] Well, Chris is saying normally does it.
[48:01] I don't know that we really will get to their mess
[48:03] who would apply like that.
[48:06] But potentially.
[48:07] Potentially.
[48:08] I mean, some support if it's not windy,
[48:11] just to make sure the flag doesn't touch.
[48:12] But I think the 20 by 30 year round would be the best.
[48:19] I agree.
[48:21] Yeah, you guys are the experts in the South.
[48:24] I think we need to follow your recommendations.
[48:28] And with that commission, what I'd like to do is to set it by resolution that that's what we're doing.
[48:35] The most sure way to have consistency of what we're doing,
[48:39] So there's not power of personalities and stuff like that saying, hey, we want this big flag or something is that that we have consistent action
[48:48] We know what we're doing. So we'll bring it back in in resolution form to the flag size
[49:13] I think the poll is different too, it's supposed to be not 250 feet in my room.
[49:18] So that, I think some of the numbers were risk-spoken size when you threw that.
[49:23] So higher than 20 feet is the minimum standard.
[49:25] Okay.
[49:26] For a 30 foot above 50 foot, I don't know.
[49:30] I know the Athens flag poles of our 50 feet.
[49:34] I don't know if I did look better about that after the meeting last week.
[49:36] But they're out of the market to be.
[49:39] But they're a mechanics inside the flagpole,
[49:41] or also designed specifically to fly that order flag
[49:44] or the heart-20.
[49:46] Is it minimal because of the set quarter higher flagpole?
[49:50] But our recommendation,
[49:52] and to be able to do, we're doing the air inside,
[49:55] is to put about 38 points on your round.
[49:59] 20, about 20, about 38.
[50:02] 20, about 30, about 30, about 30, about 30.
[50:05] Well, as we would say, but when your work is 20, but very deep, when you fall into the U.S. flag vote,
[50:11] for sending it to the betterment, I think that there's more to the right.
[50:15] Before we, before I reach down, I'll make sure that I got the right work with him,
[50:20] make sure that I got the exact right dimensions.
[50:23] Do not hurt in a slight 20, about 30 here.
[50:27] We're up this 20, about 30, but we're there this 20, about 30 action.
[50:31] And this gentleman, he did this in the military.
[50:35] I do that.
[50:36] I do that.
[50:36] I do that.
[50:36] I do that.
[50:37] I did a part two different.
[50:41] I think that's where I got the two.
[50:42] Because he was talking about the bigger one.
[50:45] That our public out here was like a pattern to do something.
[50:48] Whatever.
[50:48] What I read is.
[50:50] And the reason.
[50:51] I was so large.
[50:52] Actually, our public was not the size that needed to be in order to fly.
[50:56] That's why I think the public had some of the issues that they averaged it.
[51:00] in the windcarts. Is it fair to say that's kind of disliked to refer to it as the 20
[51:04] about 30, and everybody knows it's the 20 about 30.
[51:13] Okay,
[51:23] thank you for coming, thank you so much.
[51:31] The last item on the agenda for discussion was the consideration of changing department head
[51:39] or key manager vacation at Croules.
[51:43] Kristen.
[51:45] So this is a follow-up to the discussion commissioner Johnson started last week.
[51:50] John Michelle and I worked on the proposed accrual schedule that you can see listed there.
[51:57] We feel that this is a good way to kind of do what we're trying to accomplish, and that's
[52:02] for crew experience leaders for those key positions.
[52:05] We have not extended the vacation accrual capital.
[52:08] It still caps at the same number.
[52:10] Follows the same steps.
[52:11] It just starts out a little bit higher with smaller increases on the same gears of service.
[52:17] The other.
[52:18] And the reason I honestly feel like we should do this again for recruitment, retention.
[52:26] Also, key managers are salary employees.
[52:30] It's salary employee, just don't clock out at 40 hours. It'll take 60 hours for a month, like that, and it's the hours to comment their goals.
[52:41] Where the hourly employees, they don't have to say for the education.
[52:50] So, I know our key managers are putting in the time and doing a lot of extra work when it comes to the city.
[53:01] One of the considerations that we've already been discussing even before this came up is
[53:07] the possibility of expanding Compt Time, Compensatory Time, is that right now if you
[53:15] have over five years with the city we don't allow it and stuff we just pay out over time.
[53:23] But I think that is something that I'm not exactly sure what the thinking was when
[53:31] And that was approved and stuff, but, you know, maybe it was to give newer employees the opportunity to get a few more vacation hours and stuff and just the eight hours that starts out.
[53:45] But one thing I would say is that it kind of works if we've been already having that discussion to open that up for all of the salaries, excuse me, all of the hourly employees to open that up, because I know that some would like to
[54:01] essentially have that instead, I would imagine,
[54:04] some would like to use that.
[54:06] And it works out for us as far as $1 wise.
[54:10] It makes really not much of a difference.
[54:13] And that actually works in our favor if we
[54:16] elect them have that as vacation hours.
[54:18] It's still dependent on, because we're really
[54:21] talking about two departments.
[54:23] We're talking about the police and the public
[54:25] works department primarily.
[54:28] It works in their favor as far as their budget to manage their budget a little bit and then the department
[54:35] had always still have control of that to meet operational needs and staff is that they're not more obligated
[54:45] and it is kept at, I believe, 40 hours and staff.
[54:49] So, I know the salary studies complain of part of the hourly people for looking at their salaries
[54:55] correct. Let's say that again. When the salary study is finished, it looks at the hourly
[55:02] employees as well and it knows what needs to be adjusted just like this. Yes, all employees on
[55:07] that is, yeah. I have concerns with doing an increase on vacation hours just for management.
[55:15] I mean, I've been an hourly employee most of my life and I know how that would feel to me when
[55:20] already getting. Management already gets the extra 1.5% for their retention bonus. Now they're
[55:26] also going to recruit a higher rate.
[55:31] Well the cap is the same for like once you get to 20 years,
[55:36] for example, but I think kind of the the idea was two things first. We we do not have any trouble
[55:43] recruiting police officers public works laborers. We we have an abundance of applications and I can't
[55:49] exactly say the same for the key management positions.
[55:53] The other consideration would just be the level of experience
[55:57] they're bringing in potentially, whereas the police officers
[56:00] is potentially maybe more entry level.
[56:03] If you have somebody who's walking into a leadership position
[56:06] with 10 years of experience, that could be something
[56:09] we might want to consider.
[56:13] Because we have two class spaces found.
[56:15] We've got the key managers and the hourly employees
[56:18] if you will. And we depend upon our employees.
[56:24] And it is easier to hire those, like you
[56:27] say, for the police officers or public works. And I know that from a corporate role, three
[56:36] weeks is pretty standard to get when you are in salary, people, people, people. In position.
[56:44] And so I think it is, I personally think it's a good thing for the city to do.
[56:50] Yeah, I think we need to stay competitive.
[56:53] And who are we taking into consideration what other local municipalities?
[56:59] As far as this, well, I guess I'll say separately what we talked about before with the compensation study.
[57:06] I am actively working to compare all of the local cities and all of that.
[57:12] But I would say, I think we need to compare ourselves not only to the surrounding municipalities, but also like Commissioner Johnson said like the private sector.
[57:20] And just knowing that I think key managers, especially, you know, maybe a police officer can only go to a city and be a police officer.
[57:28] But when you're looking at key manager positions, they could go to TVA to, you know, blue cross, whatever.
[57:35] They have a little bit, I would say, more options as far as where they go as well.
[57:39] I mean, I do what City of China go.
[57:42] So City of China, I do actually.
[57:44] And they run on a PTO schedule, but I believe they start
[57:49] in terms of maybe you can help me with this.
[57:50] But I think that they start close.
[57:53] Is it 28 days of PTO?
[57:56] 33 days of PTO, so that I would say is.
[58:01] Inclusive.
[58:02] OK.
[58:03] Just to counter argument, aren't we still being competitive
[58:07] If we increase it for all of our employees and not just the management class, I don't think somebody's not going to take a job with us in a management position just because we increased it across the board.
[58:19] I would agree with that. Maybe two considerations for that would be one budgetary considerations when you're talking about filling shifts like with a police department.
[58:28] You're having to find somebody to cover those shifts.
[58:31] The second thing would just be the expanded comp time. I think that is something we could definitely bring that for approval.
[58:36] If we wanted to also take this for approval, we could bring both at the same time and that would
[58:41] allow all I really am pleased to have the benefit of basically accruing more vacation.
[58:46] So it is sort of the same.
[58:49] How likely do the other departments of the police and public works have opportunities to earn
[58:54] comp time?
[58:56] It probably varies a little bit based on position, but I think that there's, I would say,
[59:00] I'm just thinking of, you know, for Christy and for the court ladies and I mean there's others too, but just they came to mind.
[59:15] I think I'd be more comfortable if we're doing it at the same time, but we're also going to allow the comp time.
[59:20] I feel like I don't want to leave our hourly employees thinking that they are so standard.
[59:25] Well, I think that's what we communicate through HR to them is we are looking at this and the top top limit.
[59:34] Yeah, I think that's a great thing and if you all would be on board with like us bringing back at the next commission meeting both of those things, like you said,
[59:43] the comp time expanded for hourly employees past five years and then this vacation accrual schedule, I think that would be good.
[59:51] Yeah, I think that sounds good.
[59:53] Okay, thank you.
[59:54] And a lot of the corporate because it's so much time and effort into training, getting
[59:58] qualified people.
[1:00:00] So we're talking for them. It's worth holding on to those people. And that's why we're going to favor trying to bring this to us.
[1:00:16] We're clear on this. And
[1:00:22] next step would be commission reports. Anything?
[1:00:27] I've got to help.
[1:00:27] ready. All right. So three weeks now, trash we saw the dollar dinner or a dollar
[1:00:36] pre-store. Laying outside next to absentee. We all drive by daily. Why is it still there?
[1:00:45] Have we done anything about giving you a talk to them about picking it up, talking about getting
[1:00:53] some type of
[1:00:56] rotten, not wrong with ticket, but this was the issue last year before as well
[1:01:03] because I remember y'all have to go out there and speak to them.
[1:01:06] I'm so sorry I've been out a couple weeks with knee surgery, but I'd be happy to have.
[1:01:10] No, but you got people that drive by, I don't know, that's, that's what brought me home.
[1:01:15] Sure.
[1:01:16] They're tree right here.
[1:01:17] Yeah, I mean, they don't have our A-created code case.
[1:01:20] They just look bad for the city.
[1:01:22] Yeah, they may have already created a code case.
[1:01:24] I just have to check them to see where that's all they need to do is be
[1:01:29] going to do a dollar store.
[1:01:31] And I noticed there are dumpsters behind the fence and so when you
[1:01:36] would check on that, they were supposed to be behind the fence.
[1:01:44] I know we ran into a similar situation behind the supercuts,
[1:01:48] for house subs and there was really bad flies and everything and yeah it was kind of
[1:01:55] concluded. Come to find out it was supposedly firehouse responsibility to have the dumpster
[1:02:03] emptied and lung storage short I was able to actually locate the number online for the
[1:02:10] over apparently had changed hands of who owned it and I was able to contact them and they were
[1:02:17] and what quickly contact proper management.
[1:02:20] So it was able to get resolved quickly,
[1:02:21] but it's not always that simplistic.
[1:02:24] Oftentimes, if there is a change in management or ownership,
[1:02:27] and it very well may have.
[1:02:29] I know I can't really talk about the whole lot,
[1:02:32] but I did get an email today from Garrett
[1:02:35] and there's discussion about potential change in use
[1:02:39] of that building.
[1:02:40] And so it could be that that's part of what's going on
[1:02:43] with that whole thing too.
[1:02:44] Yeah, we've had some challenges with that.
[1:02:46] It's not that I'm opposed to it, I like to drink a lot of those into it.
[1:02:51] But there's traces laying around on the asphalt.
[1:02:57] The other one I have, I've mentioned to Chris.
[1:03:01] For lack of better words, there is a gumball top machine that people put a quarter in, and
[1:03:09] it gives them food in their hands so they can feed the ducks.
[1:03:14] Well, that hasn't worked. I know it three months now,
[1:03:17] according to the contact with me about it.
[1:03:20] She says you put a quarter in, it will about turn.
[1:03:23] I said, well, it's probably full of coins, but I'm surprised we have it out there,
[1:03:28] because we can't, I don't know why to keep it up, I guess.
[1:03:31] I'm not sure who put it there. I checked with Scotty Wheeler,
[1:03:36] who's been here 13 plus years. He's never been involved with removing quarters or
[1:03:42] a replenishing supply, so I'm not quite sure.
[1:03:46] Let's see what it looks like.
[1:03:46] Now that operates.
[1:03:48] Practice supply, and then a little girl come running up
[1:03:50] for the quarter minute in work, and so on.
[1:03:54] So apparently someone's been running a business at the pond.
[1:03:57] We have no value.
[1:03:59] Or not, maybe the quarter is full.
[1:04:01] But did you give her a quarter back?
[1:04:03] No, it wasn't the end of the day.
[1:04:07] I know what he's talking about,
[1:04:08] because I spent my baby's up there, and it was always stuck, you couldn't.
[1:04:14] The daycare next to, um, um, uh, good morning, the road.
[1:04:23] The daycare is right past the daycare.
[1:04:28] There is, that ditch, T.D.D.
[1:04:30] never came and cleared that ditch out.
[1:04:34] They were supposed to weigh in with season or the wastewater people as I was looking at everything.
[1:04:42] I don't ever know, we ever got truly resurrection on all that stuff.
[1:04:48] And did you all drag a tire under the straight there?
[1:04:52] Because my answer do you were going to do that?
[1:04:55] Okay, so go pass that a little bit.
[1:04:58] The new building that's been sitting there empty, that's for lease, whatever.
[1:05:03] When you look down at the last rock, I'll call it Pith, the last set of words with the
[1:05:10] greats on it, the water is the standing in there. It's like it's not slope rod or something.
[1:05:16] I'll get you if you drove by today it's going to still have water.
[1:05:20] So I don't know why we don't look at that or...
[1:05:23] Yeah, I mean that would be through Hamilton County typically because they do the water quality
[1:05:28] aspects of the development.
[1:05:31] Yeah, TDOT, I know we've tried to have them come and clean the ditches on
[1:05:35] to our wringle, try to reshape them.
[1:05:39] I don't know that they're full-staffed, think they're just trying to find the time and
[1:05:45] the manpower to do that.
[1:05:47] Yeah, because the first little, where dog wood is, the new set areas there, that first
[1:05:53] water that runs out, it just doesn't have any likes to go.
[1:05:58] In the second one, it's a little deeper for the ditch,
[1:06:02] but again, it backs up because you can't get any
[1:06:06] a pipe under the street.
[1:06:11] We need an office and call.
[1:06:12] I reach out to TDOT and Hamilton County.
[1:06:18] And the last thing I have to have is, thank you for taking care
[1:06:25] or investigating, or the commission, there's a tractor trail that people were ordering food
[1:06:33] and it came in, packed full of food, and people would come in, but ow, it's certain how I
[1:06:38] picked the food up, and the totagope, people say, hey, tractor trailer moved, and there's
[1:06:48] rear-pandom axles, left a huge indention, and I guess it may be too hot, or I don't know
[1:06:56] what it was to have even a truck, but Chris and his team has put up no tractor trailers.
[1:07:03] So was it Scotty or somebody that tried to?
[1:07:06] Yeah, we did, I was able to communicate with the company that was doing that, advise them
[1:07:12] issue they apologized, did indicate that they can't use that facility any more than need
[1:07:19] to find another location and they are waiting for information for me as far as the estimate
[1:07:26] of repair.
[1:07:27] Yes.
[1:07:28] Thank you, Chairman.
[1:07:30] Thank you.
[1:07:32] I want
[1:07:38] to compliment Christina and her crew this weekend for the timbre event. It was probably received
[1:07:44] well by the public. It was fun. I think it'll probably be larger next year. Very fun event.
[1:07:51] And then I was going to ask, I need the T dot contact. We'll have a theme of T dot.
[1:07:55] For who we've been talking to, about shop on May and about that, something very, I'm going to
[1:08:06] I think when Eric was here, because Jerry Daniels who owned that shop, it was flooding and stuff, and T.O.T. on that great end of runoff.
[1:08:23] They told us the exact opposite.
[1:08:25] T.O.T.
[1:08:27] Yeah.
[1:08:27] It was theirs and they weren't, we couldn't touch it.
[1:08:30] Yeah. Well, you've been said, hey, well, at our expense to fix the problem, we'll do it.
[1:08:34] And they, no, we don't want you to mess with it.
[1:08:37] Hmm, so.
[1:08:38] Because I don't know, Eric went out there and did stuff.
[1:08:41] It's a pretty deep hole for it.
[1:08:43] Yeah, it's not been out there.
[1:08:44] You could easily break an ankle.
[1:08:46] They also need to work on, um, we've done it as a courtesy as, but they need to come out and fix
[1:08:56] not manny overheard. Before you get in the money with that street on the backside front of the
[1:09:00] health department, that room is bad. It's always got far holes in everything else and we went
[1:09:06] out and fixed it all the time. Head neighbors in my neighborhood go out and it's not even called us
[1:09:10] probably go out and don't see men so they're trying to protect the part of us because how can we
[1:09:16] kind of welcome out of the site? It's kind of like we're the redhead stepchild. You know we're at home
[1:09:23] back side and they haven't been coming out and to take care of that property. So I get calls
[1:09:30] haven't lately though. I've got calls about why I can be fixed the road. I'm not told
[1:09:35] to call half county called T dot come fixed the road. I have been out there since 1999 and
[1:09:41] that's never been paid.
[1:09:49] Also there's some limbs that are fallen over. I just noticed that yesterday
[1:09:55] When I came with the cables come down because of the wind, if you go around this, you just
[1:10:01] drop that on the right side, big branches have come down over the cable and you're saying
[1:10:07] that there's still hanging there today.
[1:10:09] And where is that location?
[1:10:11] Hostory.
[1:10:12] Yeah.
[1:10:12] Interrupted.
[1:10:13] Back to church.
[1:10:15] And when you go around the corner, it turns into Hostory.
[1:10:18] Right.
[1:10:19] It's about like four houses on the right, there's some trees there and there's huge branches.
[1:10:24] This is not going to be this thing in its kind of getting lower to the ground.
[1:10:30] This morning when I went out, it was there.
[1:10:32] I haven't checked because I met up this afternoon, but I thought somebody said call on that
[1:10:37] because yesterday it was, I don't think it was, I don't think it was, I don't think it was.
[1:10:41] The last people that call it was, it's cheaper for those that fix it when the line comes
[1:10:45] down they don't want to sit in the ground.
[1:10:48] Yeah, that's what they call it.
[1:10:49] No, it's that issue.
[1:10:50] It should either be the county or EPB.
[1:10:52] Yeah.
[1:10:53] The APB came out one time in my neighborhood, and fixed it with it, and that on the back side of our railroad tracks, it was coming down.
[1:11:01] And they came fixed it because the poll was going to go over the tracks.
[1:11:05] That would have been difficult problem.
[1:11:07] But they don't get angry.
[1:11:14] All right, morning, nothing further.
[1:11:16] I would say that I don't have a lot.
[1:11:20] Probably one of the biggest things I've got a due date for the application for the
[1:11:28] two-rism grant for those of you that I haven't shared this with is that we can get up to
[1:11:35] $100,000.
[1:11:38] We have to have a 50-50 match, so whatever we're putting in or whatever we're requesting,
[1:11:44] we have to have 50-50 match.
[1:11:45] Well, we already have $100,000 asked in our put-in to our budget, so I feel, we should ask
[1:11:53] We're another 100,000, that'll allow us to do some all of the way finding signs, but
[1:11:59] also could allow us to move forward with larger signs as far as a larger monument sign
[1:12:08] up on top of Abs and Pike coming in, it really makes a statement as people coming into
[1:12:15] our community and stuff.
[1:12:17] So working on that, Michelle's been helping with that, and that's going well.
[1:12:24] So I could say, keep my fingers crossed, and that's got to be in by the end of the week.
[1:12:29] So I'll have that completed.
[1:12:31] Other than that, and I'm not sure, I've given you the applications, the letters of interest,
[1:12:39] for the airport board.
[1:12:43] My hope on that is or request is that you guys take a look over for those and you will
[1:12:52] send that.
[1:12:53] We'll just do that the same process that we did for the industrial development board.
[1:12:58] Just send me your top five.
[1:13:00] I'll take those votes.
[1:13:02] And at the next meeting of the City Council, which will be on the 8th of September,
[1:13:09] But we'll put that on the agenda for you guys to get them.
[1:13:14] So if I can get those back later, no later than the second, which is the Wednesday before
[1:13:23] the Memorial Day, that would be greatly appreciated.
[1:13:27] So sooner than the better I can get that and get that out of the way and ready to go.
[1:13:33] I was quite pleased with some of the fairly sharp individuals who put in that, so that's
[1:13:39] Sorry.
[1:13:39] Very good.
[1:13:43] And then it's all I have with that.
[1:13:45] There's no other items to will adjourn.
[1:13:48] All right.
[1:13:48] Thank you.
