[3:33] Communication is imperative within an organization. Before we reached out to Mr. Cobb, a few emails

[3:38] were sent to the Barn Manager and were unanswered. Mr. Cobb is the first and only DISD staff member

[3:45] to try his best to help find a mutually agreeable and fair resolution for all involved when no

[3:51] one else would consider it. For that we thank you. Second, the construction of the new Barn.

[3:55] While it is appreciated and welcome to have a new open-air barn, there are flaws with it, just like any new construction project there are flaws.

[4:03] When the project started, it was promised to have awnings over the outdoor side of the stalls. These awnings are needed and cannot be cut.

[4:11] When it rains, it rains into these stalls. They become hazardous to the project and the students.

[4:17] It floods and holds water in these pens. This can cause many health issues, for example hoof rot.

[4:23] The walkways in the barn hold water as well slippery and hazardous conditions to the cattle and the children

[4:30] Drains the drains are backing up the washer acts are holding water

[4:33] Along with many other issues

[4:36] This is how left the barn staff in a very unfair position and they are doing their best to make do they have been left to defend

[15:52] Central office meetings.

[15:54] I conducted one-on-one meetings with each member of central office team.

[15:57] these interactions were invaluable in understanding the strengths, challenges

[16:03] and needs of our district's administrative team. Our discussions have

[16:07] laid the groundwork for a collaborative and cohesive approach moving forward.

[16:12] Principal meetings. I have held individual one-on-one meetings with each

[16:16] principal across our district. These sessions provided insights into the

[16:20] unique needs of each school community, enabling me to better support our

[16:24] principals and their staff. Our focus was on ensuring that the resources and

[16:30] support provided are customized to meet the specific requirements of each

[16:35] school. Effective communication establishing clear and open lines of

[16:41] communication has been a priority. I have emphasized the importance of

[16:46] transparent and frequent communication between the central office, principals,

[16:51] staff and the community. This will ensure that we are all aligned in our

[16:56] efforts to support our students effectively. Community engagement. I have

[17:02] begun meeting and greeting various community members and stakeholders.

[17:07] These interactions are essential for building strong relationships and

[17:11] fostering a sense of unity and collaboration with our district. I will

[17:16] continue to engage with the community to understand their perspectives and

[17:19] keep them informed about district initiatives. Intentional synergy. One of my primary goals

[17:26] is to streamline intentional synergy throughout our district. By aligning our efforts and

[17:32] working cohesively, we can achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness in our operations

[17:38] and educational programs. Budget focus. As we move into the beginning of the school

[17:44] year, budget management will be a key focus. I'm working closely with the finance

[17:49] team to ensure that our financial resources are allocated strategically to

[17:54] support our school needs and district priorities. Parent community meet and

[17:59] greets. With the start of the school year approaching I am organizing meet and

[18:04] greet events at each campus for parents and community members. These events

[18:08] will provide an opportunity for open dialogue allowing us to build

[18:12] partnerships and gather feedback to enhance our district's efforts. On

[18:17] On another note, I am pleased to inform you that our ESC team is diligently planning a

[18:23] series of back-to-school events to welcome our teachers returning in August.

[18:29] These events are designed to provide our educators with the resources, support, and inspiration

[18:34] they need for a successful start to the new academic year.

[18:38] In addition to our teachers-focused events, we have also scheduled back-to-school activities

[18:44] for our DISD students and their families. These events aim to foster a sense of community,

[18:51] provide essential information and ensure that our students and families feel prepared and excited

[18:57] for the upcoming school year. We are committed to creating a positive and engaging atmosphere

[19:03] for both our staff and students as we embark on this new academic journey. Further details

[19:09] on these events will be shared with you in the upcoming weeks. Additionally, I want to

[19:13] moment to address the impact of hurricane barrel on our community. In response to severe

[19:19] weather and the needs of our residents, we opened our doors to serve as a cooling center

[19:24] and provided a safe place for community members to stay over the weekend at the high school.

[19:29] This initiative was crucial in offering relief and support to those affected by the hurricane.

[19:35] Our staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone who came to

[19:40] our facilities, receive the care and assistance they needed.

[20:33] working relationship with Arcadis who originally they were Bay Architects then

[20:40] became then merged with IBI and now they're Arcadis. They started back with

[20:45] us. They did K.E. Little, Bay Colony, San Leon, Calder Road. They did the high

[20:53] school additions, N-Wing, the gym, the band hall, the ninth grade center. They

[20:59] They did the renovations to transportation in 2010, to food service in 2010, and to technology

[21:07] in 2010.

[21:08] So they've been with us a long time.

[21:10] And I'm going to turn it over to Danny and Aaron and let them walk you through the footprint

[21:15] for CTE.

[21:43] We've been tasked to add a, during the bond it was decided that there was going to be a CTE addition to Dickinson High School.

[21:50] And so we're slowly getting that going.

[21:53] There's a lot of interesting things about adding on at Dickinson High School just because

[21:59] of the way the building is cited and what all is going on out there.

[22:02] But we're super excited about it and we're going to show you where we're at tonight.

[22:08] So it begins with visioning.

[22:10] We've had several meetings where we've met with the user groups and the administrators.

[22:15] We've gone and toured a couple of facilities.

[22:17] We've talked about expectations of what programs would be a part of a CTE edition and what

[22:24] goes in to each of those programs once you have it in your school.

[22:29] And so those are just kind of images of existing CTE facilities that we went to that your

[22:37] folks liked what was going on out there.

[22:41] Not all our work, but the one in the middle on the bottom is an IBI Bay Arcadis project.

[22:49] Okay, so as I said, it's been very interesting working at the Dickinson High School.

[22:56] When we got started, we had kind of agreed the best place for this facility would be,

[23:02] what you see up there is called Site One, which is on the west side parking lot right outside the latest addition.

[23:12] But as we get into it and as we, you know, we, as a part of planning for something like this,

[23:18] we have to talk to the city, we talk to the fire marshal, we talk to the folks who are in flood control.

[23:24] And what we quickly discovered as much as we wanted to have it on the west side of the building,

[23:32] there's a lot of issues there.

[23:34] Not the least of which the new flood plains would have the finish floor 18 inches higher

[23:41] than the existing building next door which would create all sorts of vertical circulation

[23:46] problems by putting the building up against it.

[23:49] There was also creating some inefficiencies with some classrooms that were there.

[23:53] It was reducing the number of classrooms that have natural light.

[24:00] So, after really, really trying and spending a lot of time trying to make this work, trying

[24:04] to shoehorn it in, we kind of changed directions and moved the site to what you see a site to,

[24:13] between the science and athletic areas near the Walk of Fame.

[24:17] As you can see here, it does a lot for us.

[24:21] The only cons there were the Walk of Fame, but frankly, by the end of this project,

[24:25] like we can improve the walk of fame very easily,

[24:27] make it a much nicer location.

[24:30] We're gonna lose parking spots no matter what we do.

[24:32] It's just the way it's gonna be.

[24:35] But what this offers us is we don't have

[24:37] the uncomfortable floor finish changes

[24:40] from one building to the next

[24:41] because you actually step outside before you get to it.

[24:45] It allows us to fence the entire campus

[24:48] for the first time for security,

[24:51] which is very important.

[24:53] We are going to have to go vertical.

[24:56] There's just no place to go.

[24:57] So this will be a three-story building.

[24:58] I'll show you some massing models here in a second.

[25:04] But the whole, the entire committee is with us,

[25:08] and we all think that this is the right location

[25:10] for this facility.

[25:14] And so just jump in.

[25:15] We've got some very schematic plans here.

[25:17] We're going to have some more meetings this week.

[25:19] And so we'll develop these plans.

[25:21] but for now we are here's the program we need this in the school where is it

[25:27] going to be and so what's on the first floor what's on the second floor what's

[25:31] on the third floor and so that's what we're working through right now and

[25:34] also access how do we get people in and out how do we use the existing drives

[25:40] the existing parking what changes and how do we get kids in and out and

[25:45] through this building and it's actually a pretty good solution because kids

[25:50] going from the main building to the athletic area will now be part, they'll

[25:55] be behind the security fence and they'll spend part of that trip going through an

[25:59] air-conditioned space. We also have to get parking in because there are going

[26:04] to be programs here where people can come visit this facility. Maybe it's for

[26:08] the vet tech, you're going to bring your dog in or maybe you're you're

[26:11] going to get your haircut or your hair done. So we got to provide a way for

[26:15] visitors to come through and into a secure campus but still be welcomed by the students

[26:21] in those CTE programs.

[26:22] So that's what you see going on here.

[26:24] The blue is just kind of a first blush idea, what can we do at the Walk of Honor to make

[26:29] it even nicer than it is now.

[26:33] But what you'll see in future meetings as we develop this, there's a really nice

[26:37] activity space as part of the program where we can start having events on campus

[26:41] again that it will have a good number of people in them.

[26:47] I think it's too early to go through each program.

[26:49] We'll have sheets for that next time, but access to the first floor is important for

[26:55] some programs, but others, we were able to decide it's okay for those to be on another

[27:00] floor.

[27:04] And so second floor, just slightly smaller, so there'll be a little bit of roof area,

[27:08] but that's a good place for some mechanical.

[29:57] huge row will go right by the west side of our new

[30:00] Now, Holland Road, which is going to connect 45 to 204, that's a long way from being done.

[30:10] Even the city of Tech City said we can't give you an ETA on that.

[30:14] So, as you can see, this is over 3100 additional lots just in this area.

[30:19] So there's tremendous amount of growth coming down here.

[30:22] We do have just east of 204 to your right a little further south than what

[30:29] this drawing shows we have two 15 acre tracks if you'll recall we bought those

[30:34] a couple of years ago no detention requirement on them so we those are

[30:41] designed for elementary schools or possibly a middle school we also have

[30:48] 154 acres just to the east up here in the colored area where the track is.

[30:56] That's our land where it's a little bit lighter colored shade right there. We

[31:01] have 154 acres right there. We did acquire an entrance into

[31:07] 204 about 18 months ago. Just a wide enough path to get into it. We

[31:14] also have directly off of Highway 3 entrance into that track of land. So we

[31:21] do have another 40 acres on the very southern borders of our property down

[31:25] off of Ambrone Road just north of College of the Mainland.

[31:31] bass pond on it right now. A five acre bass pond out there. But there will

[31:37] take a lot of development before we could even really access that right

[31:42] now so we just want to update you kind of show you what long-range projections

[32:38] lost some of the fencing on the north side of San Vitanza Stadium. Other little

[32:44] things here and there, but that's that's the bulk of what we did with

[34:30] classrooms design layout the footprint we are now in meetings with public

[34:36] officials City of Texas City we actually have meetings set up with permit

[34:41] department to visit with them we have to visit with the fire marshal we have

[34:45] to visit with the building inspectors, et cetera.

[34:52] to get some of this done down there.

[34:54] So we're working on the Lago Mar.

[34:57] We are anticipating having an official groundbreaking

[35:33] six months behind on where we were with and that was planned where we were

[35:38] with Lago More. We wanted to make sure we got the elementary up and going.

[36:21] away from the field house as we can but it will be a three-story building it

[37:24] We intentionally are only focusing on the 2024 Scores because of the realignments that we did.

[37:33] So, there were significant changes in the composition of the campuses, right?

[37:37] So, elementary used to have third and fourth grade, middle schools were fifth and sixth.

[37:42] And so now, when we're looking at the elementary, they only have third grade.

[37:49] And there's no growth, right?

[37:51] So, one of the pieces of accountability is how the students did from one year to the next.

[37:56] So, if they only take the test in third grade, the elementary don't have growth.

[37:59] So we're just looking at just third grade

[38:02] for the elementary schools and then fourth and fifth.

[38:05] So we have a whole new grade level,

[38:08] new teachers at each middle school,

[38:09] and then each junior high has a whole new grade level

[38:12] and new teachers.

[38:13] And so we just felt like it's significantly different

[38:16] to where it's hard to compare, you know,

[38:19] how did they colony do this year to how they did last year

[38:21] because they're missing a whole grade level.

[38:23] And then so on and so forth.

[38:25] So we're gonna just look at the 2024 scores

[38:28] and I'm going to turn it over to Dr. Noffsinger.

[38:40] The columns that I want you to pay attention to are these that did not meet.

[38:45] We want the green column to always be the shortest out of the three

[38:48] because we are comparing the state, the region, and the district.

[38:52] And then look at the masters and we want the green column to be the highest column

[38:57] because we want to exceed the state and the region in our masters.

[39:02] So this is third grade RLA, this is third grade Spanish.

[39:08] You'll notice that that's only 126 tests though.

[39:11] So we need to keep in mind that all of our Spanish testing groups are rather small student groups.

[39:17] Fourth grade RLA, look at across the board.

[39:23] We're looking at our meets and masters.

[39:25] And even though there seems to be some difference, 28, 28, 26,

[39:29] we have to look at the global picture to know that there's really not that much of a difference.

[39:35] Fourth grade Spanish, fifth grade RLA, fifth grade Spanish, and fifth grade is the last

[39:44] year in which we have the Spanish. Sixth grade RLA, seventh grade RLA, eighth grade RLA,

[39:56] Our English 1 EOC, you notice that in our did not meets, that our bar is a lot shorter

[40:04] than the state in the region, so we're very proud of that.

[40:07] Our meets is taller, so that's always a good sign.

[40:11] Our English 2, below state average for did not meet, which is what we're striving

[40:17] for, was our grade 3, our grade 3 Spanish, our 7th and our English 1, above the state

[40:23] average for masters was our third grade RLA Spanish. For our math again we're

[40:29] looking at those same trends we want our did not meet to be the lowest bar we

[40:34] want our masters to be the highest bar. Again we have the Spanish which is a

[40:39] small group of students. Our fourth grade, fourth grade Spanish, fifth grade

[40:46] grade math, fifth grade Spanish, sixth grade, seventh grade, eighth grade, our algebra. Again,

[40:59] we see that our EOCs were getting some really good results with our EOCs.

[41:06] So below state

[41:06] average for did not meet is our grade three, our grade three Spanish, our fifth grade and

[41:11] our algebra. And above state average for masters is our grade three Spanish and

[41:16] in our algebra. We get into our science. We only test two grade levels in science, grade

[41:23] five and grade eight. And then we test again for biology, our EOC. Our science summary below

[41:32] state average for did not meet was grade eight in biology. Above state average for

[41:37] masters was our biology. Social studies, we only test at grade eight. And then we

[41:45] test again as an EOC for US history. So below state average for did not meet is

[41:51] grade 8. Above state average for masters is grade 8. All right so it's hard for you

[42:00] to read that from here but whenever Dr. Brown got here when we started meeting

[42:04] it's meeting with Dr. Brown and then also with Lindsay Suarez our new

[42:07] director of curriculum and instruction and Dr. Brown said her word is

[42:12] intentional and so we took intentional and I like alliteration so we came up

[42:17] with three pillars so we have intentional instruction intentional

[42:20] intervention and intentional interpersonal development which is the social

[42:25] emotional learning I had to do some the SOAR searches to try to figure out how

[42:29] to get an eye for social emotional learning but so intentional instruction

[42:34] has to do with tier one instruction we're going to make sure that our

[42:36] our kids that first teach opportunity is on grade level we're going to make

[42:42] sure that we are our teachers are having intentional use of engaging strategies

[42:48] that are aligned to the district curriculum. We're going to support our

[42:52] teachers and effective instruction. We've had a lot of PD this summer like

[42:56] Solution Tree's RTI at work and ongoing PD throughout the year. With the

[43:01] intentional intervention that's our response to intervention and I like

[43:05] the way Louise Cruz talked about it from Solution Tree at the RTI at work.

[43:09] He said RTI stands for Responsible Teachers Intervening.

[43:13] And so we're going to make sure that our teachers know what to do with those students who don't get it the first time.

[43:19] We're going to have frequent checks.

[43:23] We're going to make sure that teachers are analyzing that data from those assessments.

[43:27] They're going to have pre-planned Tier 2 interventions in the classroom.

[43:30] And then we're going to make sure that that Tier 3 intervention is strategic.

[43:34] And then for social-emotional learning, interpersonal development, it's all about relationships.

[43:37] relationships between teachers and students, between principals and teachers, between central

[43:43] office and the campuses. We're going to look at parent and school partnerships and also

[43:51] behavior or behavior instruction and behavior intervention. So just like, you know, we

[43:56] want to teach students how to behave and then we're going to also make sure that we have

[44:00] interventions in place to help those students who don't get that first teach on behavior

[44:05] as well. I think that's back to Debbie. The next big data which I can't wait to give. On

[44:14] August the 13th we are going to get our accountability ratings from the state. It will come directly

[44:21] to us and then it will be released to the public on August the 15th. So you'll be getting

[44:28] a written report on that and then we will do a presentation at the board meeting to be

[44:34] able to go over all the domains because this is just the first glance at domain

[44:38] one and we'll get to go through all three domains.
