Thank you. And when we want to, I don't number two.
[1:34]
I'll get to meeting. We had our July 1st meeting.
[1:36]
So we're going to, if you can briefly look through the minutes from the 7-1 meeting and we can approve those minutes, everything looks okay.
[1:54]
Madam, I'd like to make the motion, if we approve the minutes of 7-1-26.
[2:04]
Are you sick?
[2:07]
Okay.
[2:08]
All in favor?
[2:09]
Aye.
[2:10]
In the opposed?
[2:11]
Aye.
[2:12]
Thank you.
[2:14]
So we're on item number four the public comment. So any if any one in the public has comments
[2:21]
You can make your comments now, but we're also going to you can make comments behind anything that's on the agenda
[2:28]
You can always have a comment, but this is a public comment section if anyone has any comments
[2:36]
So we share should we approve the agenda first?
[2:40]
Didn't we just do that that was a thousand minutes. Oh, so we need to approve the agenda
[2:46]
You want me to move that we approve the agenda?
[2:49]
Second.
[2:51]
Hall and favor?
[2:52]
Aye.
[2:54]
Motion passes.
[2:55]
The agenda passes.
[2:57]
Okay.
[2:58]
Any public comments?
[2:59]
I have number four.
[3:04]
Okay.
[3:04]
So let's go through the old business,
[3:06]
senior services task force.
[3:09]
So we need to,
[3:11]
um, so I don't know if the August meeting happened,
[3:13]
but we need to assign individuals to attend that task force meeting for
[3:17]
September, in October.
[3:21]
Pulling it for August.
[3:25]
I'm sorry, but I think we need translation in Spanish because there's people do you need translate?
[3:35]
I've never seen that introduction.
[3:38]
In the end, not in the introduction. Perfect.
[3:41]
No, they say that they can, they don't need it.
[3:43]
Okay. So, who went to the senior task force meeting in August? Was there where's where August meeting? Yes.
[3:51]
Yes. Who was in August meeting? No, there was no attendance from the senior advisory committee.
[3:56]
Okay. Who was supposed to go to August meeting?
[4:10]
I don't believe it was discussed. Sorry. I'm sorry. Yes. Maria's rest for now. She wasn't attendance. Yes.
[4:19]
Okay,
[4:23]
do you have to have a given feedback from this senior task force meeting and we also need to assign
[4:28]
so much to attend the September and October and November meetings?
[4:35]
Okay, back.
[4:37]
I arrived late in the part that when I arrived, we discussed about how communicate, how to
[4:47]
Um, me, um,
[4:51]
what?
[4:53]
Oh, you cannot hear?
[4:57]
Okay, now can you hear now?
[5:00]
Okay, okay, so we talk about how we can communicate better and how things, I don't even have a match, I'm not it.
[5:12]
I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry. But the communication was an important thing, and that's where we, that has been time is playing, how was important for me to do,
[5:27]
because the way that was presented these incidents,
[5:35]
that they need to be like the different groups,
[5:38]
you need to sign up, you need to get into the way,
[5:41]
you need to do it this way, you need to that way.
[5:44]
And I felt myself that I was not part of the program
[5:48]
because I learned things in a way that I was not used to.
[5:53]
And I was playing that piece and I said,
[5:56]
I'd like to be more human beings because I love to talk to people and let them know, and people who can go with it on phone or in the computer, that's fine.
[6:09]
But a lot of the population that they are not English speaking people, they have had time to do it.
[6:16]
And as I said, I will love to do it.
[6:19]
At least, I would like to do it the way that I feel comfortable,
[6:22]
committee, committee, committee is working in inviting people different ways.
[6:27]
That's the part that I remember the most.
[6:31]
Did you have any feedback that you want to give us?
[6:34]
Maurice from that meeting?
[6:35]
Yes, sure.
[6:36]
Yes, that was part of the conversation.
[6:38]
Bill trips.
[6:40]
We're going from that that we wanted to do a roundtable to invite anyone who has gone on a
[6:46]
trip or is interested just so we can make sure the communication is available for everyone in
[6:53]
a way that they can best digest. I don't think we will be diverting from the legislation process,
[7:00]
but we can at least make it available for those who need support. But we will be hosting a
[7:05]
roundtable for that towards the end of this month. We also talked about the computer room,
[7:11]
The city pays for or invest in ask Kevin to come and do computer trainings
[7:17]
It has been good so far, but I know we know that it can be better with more our reach of communication and then also
[7:25]
There's an opportunity or easy opportunity to add to senior center in there
[7:30]
It's to be able to utilize their computer room instead of a renting space out of the YMCA
[7:37]
So that there was a conversation about that, there was a conversation about events in public spaces
[7:42]
and making sure that the Senior Center Incans aware of them, just in case there's overlap or anything like that.
[7:51]
We talked about the Senior Prom, making sure that everyone feels welcome in doing the raffle prize giveaways
[7:58]
and just having some kind of ticket under the chair, ideas, something like that.
[8:02]
that could make it a little less cumbersome for those who aren't understanding the language clearly.
[8:12]
Yeah, we talked about people having need-based issues with getting tickets and we were able
[8:19]
to come up with a process there through the Senior Center. There will be Espoil also a academy
[8:27]
wants to have a better relationship and deeper relationship with the senior center so that they
[8:33]
can do some continue on doing their walks in the park and kind of a companionship type programming.
[8:40]
And that was set up by Vice Mayor Abreka, along with Diane Ladine, who was President at the meeting.
[8:47]
I gave them an update on the senior services strategic assessment. We do have a staff
[8:53]
It does have a draft of the assessment and they will release it
[8:58]
confidentially to members of the Senior Advisory Committee as well as the Senior Center Inc.
[9:05]
And then we will be planning to bring that item to Council in November.
[9:12]
Parking out policy where they're going to develop a policy for how parking goes on event days.
[9:17]
I'm just in general just to be clear because that the Senior Center parking lot does have to
[9:23]
with Bell Street Park because it does not have Bell Street Park as I have his own parking lot.
[9:29]
I mean, yeah, that was the just of the meeting from how we went. Am I missing anything?
[9:36]
No, I don't think so. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. That's kind of a question or suggestion there.
[9:43]
If I can just comment, maybe it might help because in just just a thought, like whenever we do
[9:51]
like the surveys, we have the surveys in Spanish.
[9:56]
So maybe the Google Doc.
[10:00]
Maybe we could have a Spanish version? Do we? Maybe. So just a suggestion. Not some just something to just think about. Maybe that might help, but suggestion.
[10:16]
Yes.
[10:17]
No, not a training. A Spanish version. So and we'll talk about it at the end of the agenda. So they mentioned like the field trips and Teresa felt that she didn't feel like she was more
[10:29]
of a part of the events or something and I'm thinking and she didn't really a lot of seniors
[10:36]
maybe if they aren't technical be able to sign up on the Google Doc. So maybe we might have it
[10:43]
in a translation maybe that might help but also just another thought I'm just putting it out here.
[10:48]
Maybe since we have as Kevin as a technology maybe that might be a place for them to be able to
[10:59]
Okay, so any other comments on that? So we need, so you need September, October, and November, so much to attend the senior services task force. And those meetings are on Fridays.
[11:13]
Do we have dates for those meetings? Yes, the next meeting is I'll be September 18th. Followed by, let me pull that up, sorry.
[11:28]
October 16th and then November 20th.
[11:33]
November 20th. Yes. Okay. So, can I ask a question? Everybody here who has not attended,
[11:40]
because this is the part of the senior advisory and the collaboration, so who has not attended
[11:45]
a senior services task force meeting?
[11:51]
Okay. You're not sure? Okay. Would you be willing to
[11:56]
Tim, okay, yeah, I know you would.
[11:58]
So can we, can you, can we get somebody to volunteer
[12:02]
for September 18th October 16th
[12:05]
in November 20th?
[12:08]
One, 30 PM.
[12:18]
Any volunteers for those?
[12:22]
Which one, goate?
[12:25]
October 16th, okay.
[12:28]
Anybody, is it?
[12:32]
If I'm local, at the time, I'll be going to go.
[12:37]
Both, what?
[12:38]
September 18th.
[12:39]
member and October. Okay. So September 18th, we have Isaac. October 16th, we have
[12:47]
court in November 20th, we have Q. Okay. Thank you, everyone.
[12:54]
Are they here? They're held
[12:55]
at the senior center. Okay. Okay. Thank you. So I don't number two, oh, business, senior
[13:05]
from. So maybe we could give get up to date on the senior prom and where we are. So everybody should
[13:13]
have a flyer. The senior Paul senior ball is September 25th, 2026. So it's called a evening
[13:21]
without borders. So we definitely want to be very intentional about bringing everybody inclusive,
[13:26]
bringing everybody together. So we just want to make sure that everybody felt welcome and a lot of
[13:32]
on this. So the committee is very very diverse. So initially the tickets are much higher. Do we have
[13:40]
an update of how many tickets we have sold at this far? On event by we saw it 112 tickets. The senior
[13:48]
center itself has sold 2018 tickets so that's 130. And then we also got sponsorship tables for
[13:56]
supervisor at least we're going to say and ask Kevin, so that's an additional 16.
[14:03]
And, and Matongi.
[14:04]
And Matongi approaches their own table, but they're feeling it themselves.
[14:08]
That's another eight.
[14:09]
Thank you.
[14:09]
Thank you.
[14:11]
So that brings us to 24, so 100, right, 100 and 54, I think it's total.
[14:15]
Okay, so just, if I can say this, we have to, we have to make sure that, because our entertainment,
[14:22]
like some of the entertainment, they're going to not be paid, they're going to have, so make sure
[14:29]
we have to get all those just lots for those people. So they'll be able to be in attendance as well as
[14:34]
not over so. Absolutely, but can you keep a track about please keep, I'm not keeping a count on that,
[14:40]
can you keep count on entertainment? I think men says we have, but I am, isn't my action item in my list?
[14:47]
Yeah, I think Chinese dancers for six free tickets, so make sure you reserve for that.
[14:54]
They don't get paid, so we offer them six free tickets.
[14:59]
Thank you.
[15:00]
All right. There's been track. Thank you. Yeah. Okay. Perfect. Anything else on the senior prom that we would like to share?
[15:22]
People for the photo, photo booth. They're available. The only thing is we have to get the paperwork done.
[15:34]
Okay, so what what miserable thing so we have entertainment so we have secured entertainment from
[15:41]
To be as though we're trying to be culturally inclusive of everyone
[15:46]
animatongy
[15:47]
to be a and I think
[15:50]
Licela the Chinese answers and then the Mary all the Mary actually man so
[15:56]
We were looking at the budget and and I'll add that on the minutes this Friday when I do those
[16:04]
for photo booth and we didn't know if that was going to be in the budget but it looks like
[16:08]
it is. So I, that's the action item. How take care of the two Miss Ruth went to the
[16:13]
middle part senior center and they had a senior prom and she liked what they work because
[16:19]
it wasn't available that they print out the pictures everybody wants something to be able to take
[16:24]
with them. So I'll, thanks for my action item. I'll do that this week. Anything else on that?
[16:33]
I have a question. Where does one actually go to get tickets to the senior ball?
[16:42]
On the flyer, there's a QR code. You can scan, if you don't like scanning the QR code.
[16:49]
It's on the Vimbright.
[16:52]
Okay. We'll make sure you get the ticket.
[16:55]
Okay. Thank you.
[16:58]
Okay. So, O Business Item Number 3.
[17:01]
So the change in the title. Oh, yeah, the change in price to tickets. So as of August 31st, the tickets were $40 in August and with the
[17:13]
Processing fee, I think it was like $45 in some sense. So now after August 31st, tickets are $50 plus the process and fee. So I don't know what the total amount is
[17:27]
But it's not $75
[17:30]
It's 55 and some change.
[17:32]
55 and some change.
[17:34]
Good.
[17:34]
So it looks like tickets are selling fast.
[17:36]
So if people want to participate,
[17:38]
you probably need to get those tickets right away.
[17:43]
Mr. Dempsey recognition.
[17:45]
So it looks like that was on the agenda somewhere.
[17:48]
I must have missed it.
[17:49]
But I think it's very important that we do that.
[17:53]
And maybe did you have any recommendations on
[17:55]
and how we want to celebrate Mr. Dempsey suggestion.
[18:01]
Yeah, I think we have to do it in the same fashion.
[18:05]
We celebrated Miss Ola Augment, but we also have to include
[18:09]
his tenure with the Ravenswood City School District.
[18:13]
He served 20 years with the school district, and then he also served 20 years here at
[18:19]
the city of East Palo Alto, along with his military career, so I think it needs to be a
[18:28]
conversation ahead and potentially at the senior services task force meeting because all
[18:34]
of the parties involved have expressed wanting to recognize and honor him somehow. But the city
[18:41]
itself will definitely do a resolution. I think the senior senior senior advisor committee should do
[18:48]
resolution, maybe we, I don't know where we host the event at, but make sure that it's
[18:55]
well attended for him. So, okay. That is my initial thought. I'll open the floor to anyone else.
[19:02]
Okay. I have a suggestion.
[19:08]
So, potential dates and I'll be location like Kuli landing or
[19:18]
where and and is there a budget for that
[19:27]
the city will be supporting this event
[19:29]
seeing as how he was a city employee for so long and integral member of the
[19:38]
senior of the older adult community so we'll be taking care of that. Maybe what
[19:47]
about this space I mean consider I mean we have like on new business that's the
[19:50]
Next item.
[19:51]
Maybe the November pilot, we can turn that into a Mr. Dempsey celebration.
[19:58]
I need whatever need everybody's.
[20:03]
I think it's a matter of chair. I think it's a good idea to recognize people that have been in this community for a long time and have dedicated their time and service. I think that we probably should do a subcommittee, plannings, this event.
[20:27]
and date and time and all that should probably be discussed at that meeting and I'd like to be a part of it and part of the planning committee so thank you.
[20:45]
That is awesome.
[20:47]
Would anybody else like to participate with Madonna and planning that?
[20:51]
You know Isaac,
[20:54]
okay?
[20:54]
You probably need one more person.
[20:58]
Okay.
[20:59]
That's okay. Yes. Yes. Yes. That's it. Okay. You got your three members? And of course I'll help. I'll support you. Okay.
[21:14]
Okay. Moving on to, I don't number six. New business. So I had thought about doing just a,
[21:23]
for the November meeting doing like a potlet because they you know order food or whatever
[21:29]
people want to cook or just this is just the way to be able to get together to share
[21:32]
have a real light agenda and then can do a potlet. That was my suggestion but people
[21:41]
can say no or whatever but I want everybody's thoughts. He's talking about for the senior
[21:46]
advisory committee meeting in November. Yes. Okay. And it's going to be the holidays
[21:53]
isn't everything, so I thought that we could just do something kind of festive.
[21:59]
To the chair, would this be open to the public or would it just be internal?
[22:05]
It would be open to all seniors.
[22:06]
I mean, everybody.
[22:08]
I was thinking, everybody.
[22:12]
Okay.
[22:13]
We'll have a conversation just offline.
[22:17]
I think the madam chair, it's going to be on our meeting night.
[22:22]
So, it's open to the public, I mean, the public comes to the meeting, they're certainly
[22:27]
a part of the potluck and so you need a committee for that too.
[22:37]
We got all these documentaries, we get ready to get everybody busy, so it's not just us.
[22:41]
We have people nice crowd out there, we can get them all subcommittees and get them involved
[22:45]
too.
[22:46]
So, can we, should we take a motion on, is that something that we want to do?
[22:57]
I have to be a motion, could it just be the consensus of the body?
[23:01]
Do we have a consensus of the body?
[23:04]
Yeah.
[23:04]
Is that something everybody, I know I need to hear some voices.
[23:07]
Miss, probably, I haven't heard you.
[23:10]
Yes.
[23:11]
Okay.
[23:13]
I want to make sure I hear everybody, miss.
[23:16]
Our seniors need to be out and as active as possible, especially.
[23:20]
So whatever we invite them to, it would be great to do.
[23:24]
Absolutely.
[23:27]
And I just wanted to do something like, it'll be during the holiday before Thanksgiving, just
[23:31]
to kind of do something, because kind of get people together, and then fancy, just to
[23:39]
get people get music, just to get us together.
[23:42]
And yes, this can be a beginning for something that is the feel that the old be seniors and
[23:49]
everybody in the community with parents and grandparents are part of this group that we
[23:57]
working together for everybody, essentially the grownups, the older adults. Okay. Thank you.
[24:06]
And well, Maurice, we'll have a conversation. But I'll be the head of that. I don't number two on the
[24:19]
It's been a very long and stringuous year, so just like we did last year. I would like to not have a December meeting that was my recommendation, but I want everybody's
[24:32]
Input and consensus with that or I mean
[24:36]
How could have a December meeting we could just have somebody else run it.
[24:45]
I mean, I'm just being honest. I mean, what does everybody feel?
[24:49]
I mean everybody likes kind of get together but what is what is what is what is I need
[24:52]
everybody's voice everybody starts and then we get a career disagree.
[24:57]
Who's a chair?
[24:58]
Yes.
[24:59]
The city manager.
[25:00]
There has asked that we have a work plan that we present to city council for the following year.
[25:08]
So if you think we can have a work plan ready to go for the technical December hiatus,
[25:15]
I leave that up to the committee.
[25:18]
So a work plan that's due to the city manager win?
[25:22]
He would like to see it for the new year, so January.
[25:28]
Good to cheer,
[25:33]
so Mr. Baker, how long have you known that it's was going to be asked for the last week?
[25:41]
It's last week.
[25:42]
She doesn't want all boys and commissions.
[25:44]
Okay, so probably help to have that information as soon as you received it and send it out to us on an email so that we could schedule.
[25:57]
Maybe a separate meeting to really fill it together because if we waited for now tonight and we're talking about doing the end of the year events this that kind of puts us in a position where we have to hurry up and get it done.
[26:25]
I don't know if it should be, you know, a special meeting call before October, so that we can work on this.
[26:38]
September, this was so working on this.
[26:41]
So, let me ask you, can I find something that it's September now, okay?
[26:46]
right. We're going into October. So if we had a meeting at the beginning of October,
[26:54]
because now we know we need to get this tap. What is what did you call it?
[27:01]
Work on. Work on together. We need to know what that means. Exactly.
[27:09]
So what we call the meeting, the early part of October and just focused on the work plan and get it done
[27:17]
as much as we can. Are you asking for two meetings in the beginning of October? Well, you know,
[27:22]
what I'm asking for, whatever it's going to take to get this work plan started because time
[27:28]
is not standing still for anybody. And you know, like I said, as soon as something important comes
[27:36]
through the pipeline that affects our ability to get together and meet to implement something,
[27:43]
we need to know that right now. So we're looking at our calendars. We're planning things
[27:47]
from right now till the end of the year.
[27:50]
I apologize. I thought three months notice was adequate, but I do apologize.
[27:54]
Next time I'll send an email that night.
[27:57]
So all I'm saying is if we have to call the separate me,
[28:00]
that's what we have to do. We don't really have too much choice.
[28:04]
Because if you're saying for the recognition for Mr.
[28:11]
DMC is going to happen. Well, we don't know what is going to happen. But we know that we need
[28:18]
just said a day to do this. So I will suggestion.
[28:24]
How about we make October the working meeting
[28:27]
to do the strategic plan? I'm just being honest. I'm tired. I'm tired. So we can list
[28:33]
Since as many meetings as we possibly can to meet, do you all, can I ask city staff, do you all have an example of what, I mean, I've done a strategic guidelines of what needs to be in the strategic plan.
[28:48]
Yeah, we've done one before the past. It's in 2024. It's just that we need to do an updated one for 2027.
[28:55]
So I will compare with everything you guys need is that is so we did one in 2024. Is that is that did I leave that?
[29:05]
Okay, I can't remember
[29:06]
It was I was I don't you are on a Jeff Austin
[29:12]
Okay, yeah, is that that's so that's not the cafe report. No, it's okay. It's just a senior advisory committee work plan. Okay, okay
[29:19]
if you can at least send an example
[29:20]
So we can at least just get our eyes on it to see what we're responsible for doing.
[29:26]
I'll send that to you this evening.
[29:27]
Perfect.
[29:27]
Thank you.
[29:29]
So I'm still on for December hiatus.
[29:35]
You know what?
[29:35]
I'm in agreement because you know we all have busy lives.
[29:40]
We we need to take a break.
[29:42]
We're public.
[29:43]
We're we're volunteers.
[29:44]
We're not getting paid for all of the time that we commit to be on different committees and the things that we do.
[29:52]
And so I don't have a problem with taking the month of December off that gives us time to focus on some things in our
[30:00]
person alive. So I'm in support of it. So we take a roll, let's take a roll call. Let's take a roll call, let's
[30:08]
without with let's do a roll call and see who's in agreement.
[30:12]
Chair, where was he?
[30:14]
Yes, I'm in agreement December hiatus.
[30:16]
Vice chair Ruth Kasi.
[30:18]
Yes.
[30:20]
I don't know about it, good.
[30:22]
Isaac Stevenson?
[30:23]
Yes.
[30:24]
I'll go along with it.
[30:25]
So, Skinna, certainly.
[30:29]
Thank you.
[30:30]
Where were we going, Rainer?
[30:32]
Yes.
[30:33]
Look, that's what I said for Nantes.
[30:35]
Yes.
[30:36]
Can you smith?
[30:37]
OK.
[30:38]
Thank you.
[30:39]
You know, that gives the chance to work on September, October, work on the, um, yes.
[30:45]
Okay. So we're going to move to item number, the new business, six number three, summer
[30:50]
activation field trips, roundtable. So what we, what we want to do, we know, and then people
[30:56]
in the public, this is whenever you can have, um, your experiences, we want to hear your experiences,
[31:02]
because we want to continue to do it, um, differently, and continue to improve. I know a lot of
[31:07]
people took surveys, but we just want to get people's ideas of what your experiences, where
[31:14]
we want to hear your experiences, what can be approved upon or different things like that.
[31:19]
And I even have, so I know there was one field trip that was canceled, so the type A personality
[31:26]
that I am.
[31:27]
I even have now I have a flow sheet of what the registration process is, and I even have a flow
[31:33]
sheet of what the cancellation process is.
[31:35]
So we do have copies of that so you guys get follow along if you want to but if if the public has any comments or anybody from the senior advisory committee
[31:44]
Any suggestions recommendations feedback that might be helpful.
[31:55]
Sure.
[31:56]
It's near the back of your packet should be I believe beneath the flyers.
[32:04]
Also through the chair, a comment regarding the registration for this field trips.
[32:08]
That firm was online in Spanish as well as Spanish and English.
[32:13]
So,
[32:16]
this item was brought to our attention because of, you know, the trips that everyone
[32:21]
did that we take during the summer times and we wanted to ensure that everyone felt
[32:27]
comfortable talking in the space, there may be some that don't feel comfortable talking
[32:32]
on the public and public channel like this on a recorded line, so if you don't feel comfortable
[32:40]
the odd planning to have a round table at the senior center. We will bring snacks and we just want
[32:47]
to hear from you all and hear from everyone about how the their experience was with the trips,
[32:52]
how we can improve the trips because here in my division at the city we always want to be getting
[32:57]
better and I know everyone else feels the same so I'll just kind of open the floor up there to
[33:05]
anyone who wants to have a comment.
[33:23]
Oh, where?
[33:24]
Oh,
[33:29]
hi.
[33:30]
My name is Karen Williams.
[33:32]
And I had the last two trips to San Francisco.
[33:35]
I wasn't able to take the others.
[33:37]
But I had a grand old time.
[33:39]
I had a good time.
[33:40]
And when we got there, we had a little time to walk around.
[33:45]
And then we had to, you know, get on the ferry.
[33:49]
And when we stepped on that ferry, I was in seven heaven.
[33:52]
Because I like a casino, but it didn't have a casino.
[33:55]
had a bar. So a couple of us seniors, we got our cocktail. We went upstairs to the second floor.
[34:05]
We had a nice trip. It was a nice ride. It was beautiful. And I would like to do it again.
[34:14]
And we took pictures. And the boat got the rocket a little bit. And so I didn't know if it was
[34:20]
drink of the boat. So I was saying rock study baby, rock study baby, and
[34:25]
standing here Toby's carrying set out. But after the boat got
[34:30]
studied, you know, you're in the water. I was able to go out to the
[34:33]
deck and take pictures. I got to see Alchemtrance. I never saw Alchemtrance
[34:37]
before. So it was to me, it was a good trip. And the other trip to the
[34:42]
Korean. That was a good trip. And then we ate after we walked around. So
[34:46]
There was only two ideas, but I loved it.
[34:49]
And the people on the bus, everybody was friendly, everybody got along and had a grand
[34:55]
time.
[34:56]
And I hope we can do it again.
[34:58]
The only suggested I have.
[35:00]
I'd like to see what a man on that bus.
[35:04]
Thank you, Pierre.
[35:07]
I'm sorry, I'm sorry. This is the type of, I'm sorry, please.
[35:21]
Good evening, everybody. My name is Sandra Green and I've actually had the, the blessings
[35:27]
to be on most of the trips and I feel like there were well organized, everything was communicated.
[35:34]
We had a grand old time and we were able to reconnect with people that I hadn't seen in decades.
[35:40]
So it gets us out the house.
[35:42]
So I want to thank you, Paris and Maurice and the city for putting these together.
[35:48]
Thank you.
[35:53]
So this is the type of feedback we need and we need to hear it.
[35:57]
Honestly, we need to hear it often because we're in a time now where we want to really document
[36:04]
it. The good things that are happening around the city and the things that like you just
[36:10]
said, bring our older adults out of the house because our older adults need to get out of
[36:14]
the house more. Can't control how many men get on the bus, but I'm a lesser hand of that
[36:20]
part.
[36:24]
I think you mentioned a point where people could go in their own spaces and do what
[36:30]
we're enjoying to do. We need to make sure that we're providing that all trips because they are
[36:36]
those who may want to have a live agency or two. And then there are those who just want to hang out and
[36:41]
be around their people. So we need to just make sure we're doing that and that's the emphasis that we want to
[36:47]
talk about in these trips is the registration process easy for you. Is there something that we can do better?
[36:53]
because like I said, we're always trying to improve.
[36:58]
Chair Hill doesn't amazing job curating these trips.
[37:01]
It's her ideas and not not not the cities.
[37:05]
So I will say, help us get better.
[37:09]
And that's where we're trying to go.
[37:14]
And I would say that I've enjoyed the trips
[37:19]
that I've gone on, my husband and I,
[37:22]
that's a good way to pull him out of the house.
[37:24]
And he's enjoyed them too, and they're well orchestrated, and although Paris and staff do
[37:36]
they're very best to get the word out, there's going to be a few humps along the way where,
[37:44]
you know, you're going to hear people say, I didn't know about it. I didn't hear about it.
[37:48]
But usually, if you know about a trip this, I'm going to take place, if you could just
[37:57]
tell your friends and family members, because that's the way we do things, word of mouth gets
[38:02]
around better than an email or a text sometimes, you know, but do whatever you can to
[38:13]
involved those people that you know may not know and yeah nobody's perfect and of course
[38:21]
we want as many to show up because we have that 50 passenger van bus tour bus and you know
[38:30]
most of the time it's full so anyway I think you're doing a great job you and Maurice thank you
[38:41]
So, oh, can I come in?
[38:44]
Okay, so, um, we have, so what I do is, so whenever I'm curating the trips, I'm looking at cost,
[38:56]
and if you know, notice I always try to have maybe two high-end kind of a little bit.
[39:03]
So I'm looking at the cost of the total budget, and I'm also looking at,
[39:08]
And this happened, I got this feedback, that we had a 55 passenger van bus, 55 passenger bus, 55 passenger bus and other people wanted to attend.
[39:22]
Just because I have a 55 passenger bus, I've only purchased a certain amount of tickets.
[39:29]
And the bus company in, and it takes a lot of going back and forth with the bus company to see what's available, what's not available.
[39:36]
And if I'm going back, say, okay, we need a 35 passenger, we need 25, and then if people don't show up, we're just trying to stay within the budget.
[39:45]
So normally, initially, I was doing 25, 35.
[39:50]
So I kind of go up a little bit, but I try not to take about, I try to take no more than 40 on a trip because also,
[40:00]
Safe the reasons, you know, and how many people that we have to keep track of.
[40:07]
So, but my goal is I will love to expand it and do a year round. That's a different conversation.
[40:16]
But I think in the summertime is great, but I think we need more of it, but we need the support of everybody and give us the honest, the honesty back.
[40:28]
So we've been doing this, this is our six year and I know the registration process, that's the reason why we have the Google document is because we have to track all data of who's coming.
[40:46]
That's something that the city needs, the requirements they need that data.
[40:50]
So it's important if you don't know how to use the quick Google document. That's also why I have my phone number on the flyer because what I'm doing is I'm looking at what they have who's clicked on who's registered and then I'm making sure we don't go over our numbers
[41:07]
I'm making sure we don't go over a number and to make sure we have enough tickets. So it's a lot of balancing in the background that people don't see but the honest feedback is important for us to be able to just just get better
[41:21]
in the other comments on that.
[41:25]
Anybody else have?
[41:27]
Thank you.
[41:30]
I went on all the excursions and I enjoyed all of them.
[41:34]
I enjoyed interacting with other seniors on the trip.
[41:38]
And there was quite a few seniors that don't drive.
[41:40]
And so this program was really good for them to get out and be around
[41:45]
other people.
[41:46]
Yeah.
[41:46]
Thank you.
[41:52]
Miss Larry.
[41:53]
Mary. Mary. Mary. Mary. That's okay. Mary. I'm in. I've seen people's faces now. I remember.
[42:03]
Good evening. My name is Bridget Grant and I'm a book east follow up to a senior center.
[42:08]
And I wanted to say misparers, you're doing an awesome job. This year I didn't hear as many comments,
[42:15]
but all the trips that they've been on, they've really enjoyed it. So thank you and your staff.
[42:21]
And I'll continue to work with you as well.
[42:32]
I would like to mention her name is Margaret.
[42:35]
I am a resident of East Malto for the last 48 years.
[42:39]
I've been here and I just want to say thank you.
[42:41]
I'm one of the young seniors and I'm so grateful to Ferris.
[42:47]
Sometimes they keep me out of the loop because I don't know what's going on.
[42:51]
I've got laid off in March.
[42:53]
So I've been off for all that time.
[42:55]
but when I heard of the trips going on,
[42:58]
I'm like, how come nobody told me about this?
[43:01]
So I've been getting information from Sandy
[43:03]
and from friends that, hey, they got trips going.
[43:07]
So the trips are beautiful.
[43:09]
I've gone on the last two to the ferry and then pure 39.
[43:14]
And I have to say they were great.
[43:16]
I call a Paris and ask if the trip was available.
[43:19]
Anybody else goes, she said, was the trip is full.
[43:23]
She said, but if I get a cancellation,
[43:24]
and I will call you. She's been true to her word. She's always called me and I want to say thank
[43:29]
you to Paris. I've enjoyed all the trip. I've enjoyed all the people and it's just been
[43:34]
a pleasure. It's been a pleasure for me because it gave me an opportunity to get out and spend
[43:38]
time with friends and loved ones and not be a home and be bored. So I just want to say thank you
[43:43]
for everything and I'm looking forward to the next one. I'm looking forward to the senior prom.
[43:48]
Thank you so much.
[44:05]
I like to say thank you to all the committee.
[44:10]
Senior advisor.
[44:13]
I am speaking for the seniors going to the senior center.
[44:17]
The ones can not make it.
[44:19]
They really enjoy these trips.
[44:22]
Thank you, Peris.
[44:23]
Thank you very much.
[44:24]
Thank you, everybody.
[44:25]
To make this possibility.
[44:28]
Because they have fun.
[44:29]
that once can make an eye, everybody can make it because they're not working, they work in a very short distance for the once can work, they enjoy.
[44:38]
And I like to really say thank you and continue doing this for the seniors, because we seniors will have time and home, and you can have a leave, how much happiness making when you take them out.
[44:51]
Thank you very much. I know it's a lot of work.
[45:01]
Hello, my name is Sherry Bundy and I've been friends with Paris for like 40 years now and so she asked me to help her with one of the trips to Monterey and when I got there and saw all the singers that was there, it made me so happy to see how happy there were people with backpacks and excited to, you know, ready to get on the bus and stuff and then when we got to Monterey it was like the singers were kids again.
[45:29]
like they it was I mean the excitement you can feel it, you know my sister and I helped
[45:34]
Harris with the trip and I was so happy because I was able to actually see some of the people
[45:40]
that went to high school with my mom and make some connections that way and I admire
[45:46]
Harris's ability to remain calm under pressure because that registration process for the
[45:54]
moderate trip there were people that hadn't registered there were people that we didn't have their
[45:59]
There were people that didn't speak English, and then we were trying to, you know, make sure that we can accommodate them on the best of the Paris was really calm.
[46:09]
And she did a great good job, and I just appreciate what you're doing for the seniors. I remember when my grandmother was alive.
[46:15]
And she was going to the senior center and all of the funds, she was so excited always to be able to connect with the seniors and have the camaraderie.
[46:23]
So I applaud you, keep going this, and thank you.
[46:33]
I'm here and I'll just a lot of applause for this trip types of trips, okay?
[46:39]
Um, this is the type of feedback, please, Ms. May, you want to come up?
[46:46]
I have five names, but anyway,
[46:52]
okay, I have five names, so I go by whatever they call me.
[46:55]
But I've been to a lot of things and all I want to say is thank you guys for helping the
[47:05]
is because it is such a need. I just want to say thank you and a special thank you to an amazing
[47:13]
man. Thank you, Mr. Maurice.
[47:26]
Does anybody know what the Marvin and beer and say anything else?
[47:30]
We're open for suggestion. We'll see. All of the back. That's y'all been around us. Been around me.
[47:37]
I'm open. We don't take offense. We just want to do better. So let me just put this out
[47:42]
there. And maybe people can comment, what do you all think about because these trips is free,
[47:51]
not really free, but is free? Do you think because, and I was going to say a challenge that I
[47:56]
had this year is people were sign up and then they were canceled at the last minute. So I'll give you an
[48:02]
example. And I have to send like a tendon cheats in and a lot of different things, right? So I've been
[48:10]
tracking everybody that attendance and everybody that signs up. So one of the
[48:14]
trips we had like 45 odd people that signed up for the trip. So I ordered a 55
[48:23]
passenger van. I mean bus, bus, but I've been bus. And what I try to do and I've been
[48:31]
pretty good at it is try to at least that's why people say, well, if I can
[48:39]
to let us know. So for instance, for the casino trip, we had a larger, a larger bus, and people
[48:47]
canceled at the last minute. And I mean, things happen, but I think we have like about 10 or 11
[48:56]
cancellations at the last minute at the last minute. And it was me reaching out to people saying,
[49:02]
hey, are you still going to be able to come? Maybe two days before something like that. So I just
[49:06]
really want people just to be mindful because we're working at in the budget and we don't want to be
[49:10]
paying more for a bus and then the bus not be full or the capacity of the tick is that we have.
[49:18]
So I'm just putting this out there what I have suggested potentially and I want to hear everybody see
[49:24]
back of doing some kind of deposit. Doing some kind of deposit. Maybe just a matter of chair.
[49:33]
Yeah. Excuse my indulgence, but I think we're going to be we have some more business on the agenda and there will be a roundtable for deep discussion on this and we can't resolve all of the concerns of whatever tonight.
[49:52]
So I am suggesting that we, at this point,
[49:59]
T-T-T-T-T-T.
[50:01]
We're going to move forward with the rest of our agenda. And for those interested, please come to the round table, table talk, table talk, whatever is called, and give your input, because tonight we're not going to resolve everything. We can go on all night. Thank you. Thank you for that. Okay, but I also want to be before we move on.
[50:25]
And we'll go through the agenda quickly.
[50:28]
Mother Teresa did have a comment.
[50:30]
So I want to recognize her and then we get
[50:31]
if anybody else in the audience has comments then,
[50:35]
but I definitely want to recognize her because she had a comment.
[50:39]
Well, I think it's important for me to mention everything is great.
[50:44]
If somebody enjoys the field trips and works with Paris,
[50:48]
is that is, I always enjoy it a lot.
[50:52]
And everybody, even these punishes picking people that enjoy it a lot, and I make sure they understand and I make sure about everything.
[51:03]
But the one thing I guess at least we can leave it to discuss it later, but it was one time when the field trip was cancelled and people were not notified.
[51:14]
We don't need to discuss it tonight, but I think that it's a very important point because
[51:21]
Effect the people that they were waiting and they didn't know that was considered. So that's all
[51:26]
Thank you. Okay, awesome. Thank you. Do the share. I do agree with
[51:33]
Chair or meeting member Redford
[51:36]
That we could move forward my only question is I want to try to get a consensus of when the best time is to hold the
[51:44]
on table, should we do it during a lunch period, lunch time, or should we do it in the evening?
[51:50]
What would be, what would gather the most attendance?
[51:56]
You could open it to the committee or to the floor.
[52:00]
Okay, so let me, so can, from us, we'll start, okay, with us,
[52:07]
even it would be better for, okay, is it in person or on the zone?
[52:12]
It would be in person.
[52:13]
person. So the evening would work better for me. I'm open for evening.
[52:23]
I'd take evening,
[52:25]
but I have problems with Zoom. Just getting, and I keep thinking again, how many of
[52:31]
our seniors actually are safe online or know how to use the tools? That's a cow.
[52:39]
I'm good for any
[52:43]
me to do in the lunch or even so whatever.
[52:54]
It doesn't matter, okay.
[53:00]
And me I'd love
[53:01]
to level both.
[53:06]
Set it up, it doesn't matter. Okay, and this just reminded me that we
[53:12]
have to make sure we stay under brown act rules for the committees. Only four can
[53:17]
this meeting, by the way. Yep, I know. I apologize. Floor, committee members can attend. Otherwise,
[53:26]
we are going outside of the Brown Act. Okay, but I'll probably can attend. Absolutely. Okay, so
[53:32]
cannot ask. Oh, wait. I'm sorry, Madam Chair. Maybe you can pull who wants to be a part of that
[53:40]
from this advisory committee. You know, you'll be there.
[53:52]
Okay. So who would like to attend that meeting?
[53:56]
The round table. Okay. That's where you got for. Okay.
[54:01]
Can we pull it out? So, so Ben's can take notes on that. So mother Teresa says she'll attend.
[54:07]
Miss Sulean says she'll attend.
[54:10]
Isaac says he'll attend and myself.
[54:12]
No, it's no. Oh, it's rude. Oh, it's rude. One, two, and then to reset. Okay, so, okay, but so, okay, so let me just do this. I and maybe I choose maybe I may not be there because maybe it's just I'm just saying it gives people the opportunity if they're not comfortable speaking to be able to have it because I'm running the program that they might have suggestions or recommendations. They may not want me to hear.
[54:43]
Well, I personally think that if you can't be honest to the person's face, I think we're,
[54:53]
yeah, I realize some people are a little intimidated, but when issues come up, you need to just step up.
[55:00]
One courage and say, what you have to say is not trying to hurt the person's feeling. You have more information
[55:06]
because this is your baby, so to speak. So you can answer the questions that cannot be answered by me.
[55:15]
You have the inside knowledge and our staff person, Mr. Baker. And so you need to be there.
[55:25]
And yeah, you need to be there. And look, I've been here in this honesty word all night.
[55:34]
Words has come from. I don't understand why it's so much confusion about being honest.
[55:41]
I'm an honest person. You know, I learned to be a little more tactful in how I say things.
[55:48]
But the truth is the truth. And we, you know, don't be scared. Come on.
[55:54]
And this guy was just like power and power. Okay, be in power. What a word you want. Okay, okay, so, so,
[56:06]
okay, who is that?
[56:09]
Theresa Sueann, Ruth and Paris. Oh, Sueann came in after.
[56:13]
Isaac, okay. So, that was looking. Okay, she was looking. Okay, moving along. So, we have Theresa, myself, Ruth and Isaac.
[56:28]
Okay, make sure he gets the right day. Yes, okay. Thank you. Okay, so we go have we going to run through this agenda quickly
[56:38]
Transportation subcommittee report. So we had a subcommittee. No, we had a subcommittee meeting
[56:45]
Last month has a subcommittee have you all
[56:48]
Matter have any reports
[56:56]
I think I think it was court and
[57:01]
remember who it was now? No, I've reported last last month. I reported last month when the meeting
[57:11]
was being scheduled on what was going to happen in foster city with the cemetery county,
[57:16]
and I have not received that post report yet. And we have not, if we've met, I wasn't aware of it.
[57:24]
We didn't, I'm not aware of meeting either.
[57:30]
So can we make a commitment to follow up with that item, and if the transportation
[57:37]
and subcommittee, because that seems to keep coming up, and that might be a part of our strategic
[57:42]
plan.
[57:43]
So we want to make sure that we have information to put in the strategic plan and I just
[57:48]
love real change that we can do.
[57:51]
So we can make a commitment to the committee to be able to, if you guys could just meet even
[57:55]
for 30 minutes over zone, if you guys could schedule that and then I would like to
[58:00]
suggest that City, Vince, Maurice, whoever remind us, schedule a meeting, get some feedback
[58:13]
saying, yes, we can make it, and sort of follow up and keep us on track, because I
[58:20]
will want to get thousands of emails,
[58:24]
and text works better, but, you know, I do
[58:28]
manage to get my, my order in for the, for the sandwich. So if I can do that, then I
[58:35]
ought to be able to get to a meeting.
[58:41]
Chair, we can, we can help.
[58:43]
through the chair did we ever find out about the status of the buses that was for the
[58:53]
transportation committee to figure out.
[58:57]
Yes.
[59:01]
Are you talking about the San Mateo buses
[59:04]
or the city? The buses here? The ones that like niche drives. Yeah. I don't know. City staff,
[59:17]
know.
[59:21]
Oh how the tables have turned.
[59:24]
We currently have one shuttle van driver and that is Penny Jackson.
[59:29]
We are going to recruitment for a second van driver and we are looking to have that person
[59:37]
do more weekend driving and also potentially appointments and grocery or shopping and stores.
[59:53]
If I remember right, you remember that we were talking about transportation before the
[59:59]
See you for a minute.
[1:00:00]
Well, I remember at that time, we had everybody had a different information and we, somebody said that it would be nice if the people that come here and give us some information about transportation.
[1:00:17]
Okay. You remember that? So, Megan, what I recall is that meeting, that was before the last meeting
[1:00:24]
if I'm on the second. I think I sent out meeting minutes from that. Right. Right. And I think
[1:00:33]
you were right. But, does it okay? We were just asked the public, since we have a half people now.
[1:00:39]
I mean, if we can ask them, what do you all think about transportation? Because I know some people
[1:00:44]
They don't drive and this is the helpful information for your community.
[1:00:48]
They don't drive so what do you guys think about transportation or how the city can better prepare for
[1:00:54]
transportation for the seniors? Now we do have the Sam Transbus. The right plus. So does anybody
[1:01:03]
have any suggestions, recommendations as far as transportation around the city or needs that you might
[1:01:11]
to see for other seniors that you might be able to share feedback on that.
[1:01:18]
Madam Chair, I thought this transportation report was on, they didn't meet, obviously.
[1:01:27]
So now if you're following up with the question was about the hands that were available
[1:01:34]
to transport seniors, one was inoperative and then there's only one bus driver.
[1:01:43]
So, maybe this is a part of that round-table conversation, too.
[1:01:49]
That would be, that's probably correct.
[1:01:51]
And the doesn't look like that they did.
[1:01:53]
I want to thank everybody for coming, too.
[1:01:55]
But we can use their feedback since they're here, their seniors.
[1:01:58]
Well, we should have extended the time for this meeting.
[1:02:02]
Okay.
[1:02:03]
Well, I mean, everything is important.
[1:02:07]
If every idea or our suggestion comes up, if the public has something to say, they should,
[1:02:15]
for them in their own minds, say, I need to speak on that, rather than you suggest them coming up,
[1:02:23]
because you're putting them on a spot. And they don't like people. If I want to say something,
[1:02:29]
I'm going to get up and say it when you say, do it.
[1:02:33]
We know a lady will come in in the back.
[1:02:38]
Yeah.
[1:02:39]
No up to the bite of something.
[1:02:42]
Yeah.
[1:02:51]
Thank you.
[1:02:52]
Everything.
[1:02:53]
But what I was just going to say is, like you said,
[1:02:56]
sometimes people don't know.
[1:02:58]
So even when I see people walking,
[1:03:00]
I tell them, do you know about the same train,
[1:03:02]
bus riding the area and giving the phone number?
[1:03:05]
So we just have to work together
[1:03:07]
to help one another because everybody don't know everything and so that's a blessing to have
[1:03:14]
someone.
[1:03:15]
It's just like telling somebody about to say the Lord, to help them.
[1:03:20]
But thank you again.
[1:03:22]
Thank you.
[1:03:26]
Thank you.
[1:03:26]
That's just a sign of it.
[1:03:28]
Thank
[1:03:31]
you.
[1:03:33]
My sons of age group, call me mom.
[1:03:38]
Matthews, Andrews, call me Auntie, Graham, Sonja May, I have five lanes, and my
[1:03:42]
LeGrendo, a great Grendo on the 15th, was somebody to go,
[1:03:46]
I'm on, I'm on to, that's not your, that's the girl big line, that's okay.
[1:03:50]
Okay, thank you. But so, as you all can see, we're trying to do so much in a
[1:03:56]
little amount of time, and we want to continue to get the information out there. So
[1:04:00]
it's important that you guys come to these meetings. It's a great turnout, but it's a
[1:04:04]
you have to be able to participate. So I'm encouraging everybody to be able to
[1:04:08]
participate. You can even be a part of this committee because I think the
[1:04:11]
couple of our seats are going to be up next year. So it will be great to just
[1:04:15]
continue to participate and get your feedback. Thank you all for coming and so
[1:04:20]
Ms. Donna I'm just going to we're going to kind of keep moving on. So just to clarify
[1:04:25]
with the presentation. So we have two vans and only one is operable. Both vans are
[1:04:32]
probably we just only have one driver. Okay. Okay. If if anyone knows of anyone that can drive
[1:04:40]
class A passenger endorsement, please put it out there. Okay. So Madam Chair, it's not on
[1:04:49]
the agenda, but I did want to report that the communication and social participation committee
[1:04:56]
met on July 10th, just be.
[1:05:00]
For our recess, Sue Lynn, Ms. Rainer and Ms. Ruth. We met and we did discuss a few things that we think will be beneficial for our committee to move forward.
[1:05:21]
One of the important things was we need the senior to get the data on where seniors are in this community.
[1:05:29]
I know that's been talked about for a while, but we haven't received anything and that's really a big
[1:05:37]
important part of how we contact seniors at our homebound and to get them involved.
[1:05:46]
There are a lot of good recommendations that came out, so I won't go through all of them,
[1:05:49]
I did want you to know that we did meet and we are going to continue to meet on, we agreed to meet on the second,
[1:05:58]
second Friday of the month at 11 a.m. On Zoom.
[1:06:08]
So, our next meeting is on September 11th at 11 a.m.
[1:06:15]
on Zoom. Okay. Thank you. That's all. I'm going to report. Thank you. Just real quick questions
[1:06:22]
that team will let us at 11 a.m. We won't be finished with the senior prompt.
[1:06:28]
Well, oh, yeah,
[1:06:29]
that is just saying, yeah, I'm sorry. Yes, thank you for that. We could probably move me to after that,
[1:06:36]
right? Well, I'll talk to you with my team. Okay. First, thank you. Okay. So we're going to move on to staff
[1:06:41]
reports and you kind of gave a brief overview of the senior services assessment. So if I recall
[1:06:48]
doing over the summer we had some consultants that were here and they were interviewing a lot
[1:06:53]
of the seniors and they did a town hall meeting I think a couple of times of kind of like the senior
[1:06:59]
services what the seniors kind of want in the community whether it's needed in the community.
[1:07:03]
So we were just trying to put that on the agenda to see if we can get a follow-up item for that
[1:07:08]
that he is. Maurice did give a brief overview but if you can just kind of give a brief for that
[1:07:13]
he is right now. Yes, so right now we have a 41-page draft report. It talks about the senior
[1:07:25]
services that exist in the that are city managed. So senior advisory committee, my senior
[1:07:34]
services staff through the nutrition and the transportation and then also the senior center and senior center ink.
[1:07:43]
Those are the entities right now that are kind of
[1:07:46]
Helmed by the city. However, through the report, we did not touch on all of the different organizations around the city.
[1:07:56]
Non-profits that support seniors as well.
[1:08:00]
So, staff is going to release a report,
[1:08:04]
confidentially to the Senior Advisory Committee.
[1:08:08]
Here's a timeline where released that this month,
[1:08:12]
and we're released it to the Senior Center Inc.
[1:08:16]
And then you'll have time to review it.
[1:08:19]
We will go over it in October
[1:08:21]
at the Senior Services Task Force meeting.
[1:08:25]
And then from there,
[1:08:26]
If there's any refinement, we'll finalize and it'll go to Council, I believe the date we have
[1:08:32]
said for that is under November 16th or 17th.
[1:08:36]
And then from there, it'll Council or the City Council will be able to make a recommendation
[1:08:43]
on what they would like to see moving forward for senior services in East Palo Alto.
[1:08:52]
Okay, thank you for that.
[1:08:54]
Moving on to item number nine. Do we have any announcements?
[1:09:10]
Madam chair. I do have one announcement.
[1:09:13]
Jew Health Foundation is presenting their Drew family and friends barbeque Saturday September 19th
[1:09:22]
from 12 to 4 p.m. at 1191.
[1:09:26]
run a meet street here in East Palo Alto. They're going to have, of course, the barbecue and
[1:09:32]
refreshments, live music and entertainment. This is networking with community partners. So this
[1:09:40]
is a, you have to RSVP also by September 11th. And this would, do you help barbecue at Gmail? There's
[1:09:52]
phone number here so I could just give this a guess to Mr. Baker and maybe take a picture of it.
[1:10:02]
I'll follow up after the meeting.
[1:10:07]
And we have, yes, I don't, I don't even have one.
[1:10:12]
Oh, thank you.
[1:10:15]
So, as our last little kind of get together, we're going to do a job newspaper.
[1:10:25]
So this is September, and it's going to be because it's so important to us that we try to include
[1:10:32]
everybody on the west side to really try to bring the community together. So we're doing it
[1:10:37]
at the little pop-up park there behind Woodland Park over there. So it's going to be for
[1:10:44]
like an hour and a half and for people to just be able to come do some taste test of
[1:10:50]
joboges because I could say for me joboges whenever I go or when sub us I didn't know what to
[1:10:56]
So you don't want to waste your money on something that you don't, you don't like or you don't know.
[1:11:03]
So this will give us an opportunity to be able to, to taste some, um, the flyer.
[1:11:09]
Be able to taste some jambages and be able to give some movement, share exercises and different things.
[1:11:14]
And we're going to have some raffle prizes.
[1:11:16]
I know y'all like prizes, gifts, stuff.
[1:11:19]
So, um, that was a, a jambages pop up and are there any other announcements?
[1:11:24]
Yeah. I didn't see the address on here. Oh, it's a little popular part in Donna West station about it down to her right on the other side.
[1:11:34]
Don't know if you go.
[1:11:38]
It's where?
[1:11:41]
Is it by 70, never in a cross to bridge?
[1:11:44]
Not that one. It's on the other side.
[1:11:47]
By behind universities are going to be behind four seasons.
[1:11:52]
Yeah. Oh, there.
[1:11:52]
Yeah, you know, okay, you're dating yourself. The whole same. Yeah, yes, okay. Okay, with the address again, please
[1:12:02]
This is it's like we have space shore and down a hole
[1:12:48]
Okay, thank you, and also senior prompts, if you have not gotten your tickets, if you can, you have been, say, tickets are going fast, so with international prompts, so where you're cultural,
[1:12:59]
So, garments, we went with our cultural garments, it was going to be a great time and great
[1:13:04]
pictures.
[1:13:06]
So, if anything else, we can join the meeting.
[1:13:14]
I'll set that.
[1:13:19]
I'm going to go.
[1:13:20]
My name is Bridget Grant and I'm from the East Malawar Prisoner Center and I didn't bring
[1:13:26]
a flyer, but seniors on the move coordinated by Supervisor Jackie Spears will be on
[1:13:34]
September 17.
[1:13:37]
You can register online. Again, I apologize when I bring in
[1:13:42]
flyers because I didn't know it. I can make them a don't smit. We have a bus. I
[1:13:48]
think we're going to have a bus sponsored by Mrs. Spears to come to the
[1:13:54]
senior center. I do have a list of people already, but I can take a few more
[1:14:00]
thing. So you can come over to the Senior Center. You can also register online and it's called
[1:14:06]
seniors on the move and it would be held at the San Mateo County Fairground and it starts from
[1:14:14]
nine to three. What time were the best people in the Senior Center?
[1:14:23]
Probably by eight o'clock in the morning.
[1:14:37]
I'm sorry, I thought it was dinner clock.
[1:14:41]
I think they changed the time.
[1:14:43]
Oh, they changed?
[1:14:44]
Yes.
[1:14:44]
All time was changed.
[1:14:47]
Oh.
[1:14:48]
Eight o'clock.
[1:14:50]
Eight o'clock.
[1:14:51]
Oh, excuse me.
[1:14:53]
I wasn't, I mean, the reason I haven't been told that.
[1:14:56]
So thank you.
[1:14:58]
You're welcome.
[1:15:02]
Okay, thank you. Thank you everyone for coming. Thank you for joining us last time. Don't let the three of us. Oh, you guys from the same. Okay, sorry. Okay, come on.
[1:15:16]
Good evening. Yes.
[1:15:17]
And for everybody, every member's Akirin is, I also try to say, thank you very much for all the
[1:15:30]
Yav you do for all community, and especially for all seniors, seniors, one of the teams
[1:15:40]
and we try to get the information all as much as we can.
[1:15:52]
So especially the most important information we have in all these conversations is very important.
[1:16:00]
And I would like to know if we can go with any members to get the information in Spanish.
[1:16:10]
All also, most of the community, we speak in Spanish.
[1:16:17]
So I would like to appreciate that to get it in Spanish.
[1:16:23]
Thank you very much.
[1:16:28]
Thank you.
[1:16:30]
Can you share
[1:16:34]
the question?
[1:16:50]
Can you share the question?
[1:16:53]
No, that's a question.
[1:16:54]
And really, I'm not going to talk about this.
[1:16:57]
I brought in in online and from my husband for those of them.
[1:17:01]
And keep taking out the dollars.
[1:17:03]
And what happens is, there are some of us,
[1:17:05]
personally, I don't know if you don't see them,
[1:17:06]
but I don't see them.
[1:17:08]
And I don't think they're going to be sending them
[1:17:09]
or they're sending them to us.
[1:17:11]
They're sending them to the water.
[1:17:13]
Okay.
[1:17:13]
I don't know why.
[1:17:14]
I just wanted to say that.
[1:17:16]
Okay.
[1:17:18]
People from Miss Palo Alto,
[1:17:21]
they told me that they were selling.
[1:17:23]
I found out that the people in this panel aren't all senior center, they were selling tickets in cash.
[1:17:30]
Yes, they see, because I see, they don't have a problem line, and other people don't have a problem line.
[1:17:36]
Well, not just that, but I don't know what I'm saying.
[1:17:39]
Yeah, all of those on the angle.
[1:17:41]
Oh, I just want to know why some people were able to pay only $40.
[1:17:51]
and not everybody knew about that, and I feel it's not fair.
[1:17:57]
So you know what I'm saying? I have that question that nobody knew.
[1:18:05]
Yeah. I didn't know. I didn't know that, but maybe Maurice can address it.
[1:18:12]
Yeah. So I just want to clarify, you paid $45 for your ticket.
[1:18:22]
because of that because of the service fee. Yeah. So the senior center, the senior center
[1:18:28]
ink, we were looking for ways to serve those who weren't able to go online and purchase.
[1:18:34]
They were having technical difficulties and they advertised their tickets at $40 not knowing
[1:18:41]
that there was going to be a service fee attached to it. So I, it was my fault that I did not let them
[1:18:48]
know that there was a service fee attached. I should have told them they were $45.
[1:18:53]
Instead of $40. So I have to take responsibility for that. If there's anyone seeking a
[1:19:00]
refund for their $5 fee because they didn't, they purchased online, please reach out to
[1:19:06]
the city and we will, and we will work on that.
[1:19:11]
I just wanted to say that I've been making announcements just about every other day letting
[1:19:15]
them know that we have tickets, reselling.
[1:19:17]
Are you selling them? Are you selling them now? What the service fee?
[1:19:21]
I will be. Okay. All right. So anybody moving forward is the service fee charge?
[1:19:27]
So it would be $55. Okay. So I just have a question there.
[1:19:31]
I need to translate. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Please.
[1:19:34]
Yeah. If you allow me, please. That's it. Okay.
[1:19:37]
Pati, what I'm saying, Maurice, I'm going to do it.
[1:19:40]
This says that the problem of communication,
[1:19:49]
where they didn't know they were covering that car or extra.
[1:19:54]
So, then I can't communicate with them.
[1:19:57]
But I say that if the people are...
[1:20:05]
Okay.
[1:20:13]
So my comment on that is the company that's doing the senior problem. Just make sure that you keep what you are on the meeting on Friday that that list, because we're getting acupacity.
[1:20:28]
So make sure that those people that took that money, you're collecting, that those people
[1:20:34]
names end up on that list.
[1:20:36]
I could see where that could be a disconnect.
[1:20:39]
They show up because we're going to be taking the registrations from the e-vite and if their
[1:20:43]
names aren't, if it doesn't, if it doesn't die, then we're going to be over-capacity.
[1:20:48]
Just FYI.
[1:20:50]
Well, we're not going to be over-capacity.
[1:20:52]
We're just not going to allow more than 200 people to the venue.
[1:21:04]
I think we just said a hundred and thirty hundred and forty hundred and forty
[1:21:10]
But that's the as two hundred hundred
[1:21:14]
Yes, the ones that the dancers and whatever
[1:21:18]
No, I'm like I hadn't I counted those at this moment
[1:21:25]
I need I knew there's numbers to come
[1:21:29]
Okay
[1:21:30]
Do you chair if you are if you're old time now?
[1:21:33]
Oh, it's so time. We can adjourn the meeting.
[1:21:41]
We can adjourn the meeting.
