[0:05]
Yes, I am. We'll
[0:11]
put you on speaker now. He's there. Okay, we have almost
[0:22]
everybody here. But now we have a quorum, so we'll get started. Brady is on the phone over speaker phone with us. Just be careful.
[0:37]
That's why I feel confident we can start it. A couple of housekeeping items. We'll postpone the training, like I mentioned,
[0:43]
because it does require electricity and probably not the most important thing in the scheme of what we're trying to do before the light goes out.
[0:51]
But I do need to get complex of interest from you all for this year.
[0:56]
So, if you will take one and pass it down and then fill that out at some point and return it to stable, she will keep track of those for us.
[1:12]
Again, a conflict of interest, if you've got any personal interest
[1:16]
businesses, anything that might conflict with the work that we do,
[1:19]
just notifying it on this document, particularly if anything has changed
[1:24]
from last year.
[1:28]
And then as we do that,
[1:56]
it's the moment, and then we'll move right into our meeting.
[2:15]
Welcome, sir.
[2:18]
We're just really out calling for interest forms for this year.
[2:31]
I'm not making it through, well,
[2:39]
I have to borrow that, and I have to do that,
[2:50]
as we,
[2:51]
as you are filling that out, I would like to move on to the next item in our agenda,
[2:55]
which is the, do we have a mantra for them for them?
[3:05]
No, wait. I had the car keys.
[3:10]
Our father and heaven were grateful
[3:12]
that we could all meet together as board directors
[3:15]
and please welcome that we can do all the things
[3:19]
in our power to help the school.
[3:21]
We're so grateful for the question to Academy
[3:23]
and all those that put love and support
[3:26]
for all the birth of the children that come here
[3:28]
We are grateful for the opportunity we have to serve and please vote so that we can take that responsibility
[3:37]
with good consideration and safety for the languages that are still there.
[3:41]
If you'll please stand for pledge.
[3:47]
I'll
[3:50]
be the pledge of leading.
[3:51]
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which
[3:58]
of stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
[4:05]
Thank you very much.
[4:09]
Blake, would you like to discuss anything about the goals I know
[4:14]
you've met, but I don't believe that you've had time for the teachers to write this year's goal?
[4:20]
No, nothing to share right now. We started beginning of the year reading assessments this week,
[4:26]
and next week we'll be math and then we'll meet with the teachers to go and
[4:30]
collaborate about what the goal is going to be in math and reading this year.
[4:33]
Is it safe to say that by the September meeting you'll have these things?
[4:41]
The next sign on the agenda is to prove the minutes that are presented in the board
[4:44]
packet and you did a lovely job recording that meeting.
[4:50]
All of those components of that meeting.
[4:52]
So I'll entertain a motion.
[5:03]
I'll make a motion to prove the minutes from the GIs July 16th, 2026 board meeting
[5:07]
and retreat as presented by the party.
[5:10]
Thanks.
[5:11]
The first big debate.
[5:12]
Yes.
[5:14]
I'll go 1-3-2.
[5:17]
Okay.
[5:18]
The meeting and the report are fantastic.
[5:23]
Okay.
[5:23]
The motion's been made.
[5:24]
Do you have a second?
[5:27]
I'll second.
[5:28]
The motion's been made by Casey.
[5:29]
The second came from Laura.
[5:31]
Any discussion on the minutes as they're presented in the board packet?
[5:39]
Fantastic.
[5:39]
in hearing their comments. Those in favor of a few remaining minutes as presented in the board packet for both the board meeting and the retreat. Please say aye.
[5:48]
Aye.
[5:52]
Ready?
[5:53]
Aye.
[5:54]
Sorry.
[5:54]
No, that's perfect. I just want to give you the opportunity.
[5:57]
Okay.
[5:58]
That motion carries.
[6:00]
Next item on the agenda is the opportunity for the public to address the board. Is there anyone here who would like to address the board?
[6:09]
going once, going twice, so we'll move along then.
[6:15]
Next item on the agenda is that time for a German.
[6:19]
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one.
[6:32]
All right, we've got a 758, 809, yeah.
[6:37]
Yeah, that's nice.
[6:37]
I'm done.
[6:40]
I'll go ahead and do that.
[6:43]
I was thinking somebody was going to pop off 730.
[6:46]
Yeah.
[6:49]
Okay. I'm here at 7.45, at 7.15, at 7.45, 7.45? Yeah. All in favor?
[6:57]
Through my pudding. Hi. That's right. So Laura, for that. Yeah. I was a little sure about it.
[7:03]
Yeah. For what? 7.45? Yeah. 7.45. All right. I have on the globe, folks. I have on the globe.
[7:09]
So, Laura, I'm going to give you some time for the strategic planning.
[7:13]
I'm going to continue to develop our institutional effectiveness framework.
[7:29]
We are going to be administering the board's governance evaluation.
[7:38]
You will be receiving that.
[7:42]
It's getting to go out tonight at 10.
[7:45]
I don't think it will happen, but that would be cool.
[7:48]
So it is scheduled that way right now.
[7:50]
Do you want me to stop it from being ready to stop it?
[7:52]
Okay.
[7:53]
Yeah.
[7:54]
Well, the reason being is that as we, as Ken and I discussed on prior evaluation, the board
[8:03]
provide their perspective and admin also provide their perspective but we never
[8:10]
separated those results and those are different and so this this year we will begin by separating
[8:20]
those two target audiences and getting feedback from each of their perspectives.
[8:27]
So why are we doing this?
[8:31]
This is not new for us.
[8:33]
We've done it a bit since I've been here.
[8:36]
But this year we are establishing kind of a baseline.
[8:40]
So we can track progress over time.
[8:43]
So the survey has changed someone.
[8:46]
Still it's accomplishing the 10 domains that are outlined by
[9:01]
There is no required outline for a charter school board, but there are a lot of documents
[9:08]
out there with items on them so that you probably pulled something from maybe one of
[9:14]
the districts to get the information that you started with.
[9:16]
I don't know, for sure.
[9:17]
So I basically based that outline on the training that we do update years.
[9:23]
So there are 10 learnings that are trained on.
[9:26]
And so the survey is going to be letting your feedback on those 10 domains.
[9:31]
Except for the administrative side, we're not going to deviate on those 10 domains.
[9:39]
Except there are environmental domains that are in alignment, but not all of them.
[9:45]
For example, training is something that they would see, or it's not, I mean, it's a choir.
[9:50]
It's not an expectation that they attend training.
[9:55]
So, we're doing that also in alignment to our certificate priority, which is, I mean, not the core element.
[10:04]
And I
[10:11]
totally face all this.
[10:13]
It can possibly be on sustainability.
[10:15]
So we just have three elements, core elements,
[10:18]
academic excellence, students,
[10:19]
board and can talk to the individualities
[10:21]
for this effort, both within that category.
[10:25]
And more specifically is the strategic priority
[10:28]
that we have, the strategic priority in reference
[10:33]
in reference to what I'm
[10:38]
working on right now.
[10:40]
It's just no matter how much I'm
[10:47]
sorry.
[10:49]
We're currently working on this.
[10:54]
Are you asking about the training that we're working on?
[10:57]
Or the, no, I apologize.
[11:02]
I don't know why, when I am under pressure,
[11:05]
I get to forget things.
[11:06]
It happens to all of us.
[11:16]
So it's part of our strategic plan to enable us to see how well are we doing at the board and the feedback will help us be, you know, what areas of the strength we want to continue building upon and where the areas of opportunity that we want to also address.
[11:35]
So, when do you take this with me? Please be candid. So, that's the only way we can,
[11:42]
we can identify our areas for the strengths and various opportunities.
[11:47]
So, that's communication from that point.
[11:50]
So, let me just make sure that I have, I just stopped the, I cancelled the schedule
[11:54]
send, but do you anticipate what we've done to change the board?
[12:00]
And can I extend it to the board, but we can hold up on the admin side?
[12:04]
Well, the survey actually branches out.
[12:09]
If they respond, certainly.
[12:11]
Admin?
[12:11]
It will branch out to just a question.
[12:15]
You might, that might be higher than my name, Grace.
[12:17]
I don't know.
[12:19]
But I can, and I don't know if you will doubt that.
[12:22]
I don't know.
[12:23]
So I don't use that.
[12:24]
I use quality.
[12:27]
I don't know how to do that, but it will just talk all the questions that are in the form.
[12:34]
Can it?
[12:36]
It doesn't work.
[12:38]
I can use them.
[12:39]
They go to that.
[12:40]
All right.
[12:41]
Then I will hold a pod on it all.
[12:43]
Sometime in the next couple of days we will get an email from us with the reflection survey.
[12:50]
Yeah.
[12:51]
to echo her words. Please be candid. Give us the feedback and stay the only way for us to continue to improve.
[12:58]
And then in the meantime, we're going to figure out how to do that.
[13:02]
You've done it before?
[13:03]
No, it's not.
[13:04]
Fantastic.
[13:05]
All right. All right. Thank you, Laura, for putting that together and working on that.
[13:10]
That brings us to the end.
[13:12]
You've helped a lot. That brings us to the teacher reports.
[13:15]
lady. I'd like to come on up so that you can be heard by our microphone in this extra big space.
[13:22]
I know, great acoustics.
[13:25]
I'd like to see my handbrake in.
[13:28]
Yeah, we could.
[13:29]
So our kind of focus was the behavior management system that our admin has completely rocked
[13:37]
this year.
[13:38]
I touch the space with the fifth grade and they are amazed at how much more effective behavior
[13:44]
your management is in their classrooms,
[13:46]
and overall teachers are just feeling very confident
[13:50]
in the systems that have been set up
[13:53]
to catch things and to support students.
[13:58]
Also, I really want to shout out the sixth and seventh grade
[14:01]
teams because their teams, their morale
[14:04]
and the mindset that they have together
[14:07]
has made such a huge difference in those groups.
[14:10]
And it's incredible to see how effective they are,
[14:12]
how excited they are and just how much they love their students.
[14:18]
Amazing, I'd love to add on to what Emily has shared.
[14:22]
The fourth grade wanted to report that the new SOAR cards,
[14:26]
the initiative that Chance has begun of having ranked SOAR cards,
[14:30]
has been a major success for the fourth grade team.
[14:33]
Also in behavior management, it's been very inspirational for them
[14:36]
and it's helping them get students excited about ways
[14:40]
that they can show respectful behavior throughout the whole school and I'd
[14:44]
love to second that third grade is also finding that same success and so we're
[14:48]
excited to see that continue throughout the fiscal year.
[15:00]
Thank you for joining us. Thank you for risking driving to be here with us anytime. I got a ride, so.
[15:29]
Okay,
[15:29]
1747 this morning and I looked at that true dummy
[15:37]
So we went one of them, which is great
[15:43]
30 I know we're bunches usually around 100 or 1,000 and 10
[15:49]
20 that's our cannot remember
[15:50]
No, we did
[15:53]
We were ambitious
[15:59]
Yeah, normally we budget on $100 or $110.
[16:04]
We go low, so we're showing, right?
[16:06]
OK, so that was ambitious of us.
[16:08]
OK, well, then we'll make sure we get them.
[16:10]
Yeah.
[16:11]
We'll make sure they're here.
[16:13]
Yes, so we're excited.
[16:14]
We have amazing new students in GWA.
[16:17]
And we also have the highest retention for students
[16:21]
who are white overall, but also the highest retention
[16:23]
of fifth, going into sixth graders.
[16:24]
Other sixth graders, is that capacity with 30-needs class?
[16:27]
I think we lost two this week, so it might be 30 in two classes and 29 in the other two,
[16:33]
but that's amazing.
[16:35]
And I have reached out to the 6th and 7th grade teams to collaborate with them
[16:40]
of how we continue that momentum into 7th grade, so that retention can continue.
[16:44]
And then hopefully we'll be at a capacity that we didn't even anticipate
[16:50]
when the school opened its expansion events.
[16:52]
We did not think we'd have these numbers by then.
[16:54]
So we're excited about that.
[16:56]
Going through strategic priority number one, academic excellence, this was the report
[17:03]
that I shared in the July meeting as well, so it has not been updated.
[17:08]
The academic excellence portion will be quite big in September because we're going to have
[17:12]
the Acadian's map and Acadian's reading data.
[17:17]
David, that's a really good question to me about comparison to Washington County School
[17:21]
district and just so for you guys your knowledge is this data doesn't go public
[17:28]
in usually until October and November on a platform called Vatican Gateway. Once
[17:33]
they hit the Vatican Gateway, then I'm able to compare it to the district. Right now
[17:36]
it's only our school and the state as soon as we get that, then I'll compare it
[17:40]
to the district as well so there'll be three points. And you'll be able to access
[17:44]
that access that anybody can look at that. So maybe that would be a good thing for us to spend
[17:49]
and then sign an award meeting, pulling it up,
[17:51]
and showing them how to actually find it,
[17:54]
and then do it their own comparison.
[17:56]
Yep.
[17:56]
I love that.
[17:57]
So moving to strategic priority number two
[17:59]
of student support, we will be, every time we present
[18:04]
on student support priority number two,
[18:07]
it's going to look the same thing with the same initial topics,
[18:11]
as well as the build out of these graphs.
[18:14]
And you see that the data coincides
[18:15]
with what Olivia and Emily share as well,
[18:17]
with the current behavior data compared to last year's current is blue and last year is green at the exact same time frame.
[18:25]
So the first sheet is admin versus teacher-manage behavior. Of course teacher-manage the minor behaviors and when it gets to the admin level, it's a more serious behavior.
[18:36]
So if you go to the next sheet of B support calls, B is for behavior and we have three support calls at the school.
[18:43]
a B1, a B2, and a B3.
[18:46]
A B1 is just saying there needs to be a 40-year admin presence
[18:50]
or a counselor's presence in the room.
[18:53]
B2 is what we call stay-in-the-game conversations
[18:55]
where an admin will take over the teacher's post
[18:58]
and the classroom and teach the class
[18:59]
while the teacher has a stay-in-the-game conversation with the student
[19:02]
so that the relationship is built directly
[19:05]
with the teacher not just an admin.
[19:07]
And then B3 is when an admin is called
[19:10]
to usually ask a student to come and talk to us
[19:12]
in our office or pull them out for a more serious behavior.
[19:16]
So you see, we currently don't have any two calls
[19:20]
at the time of the report.
[19:22]
We want to be three or significantly down
[19:24]
for this time last year as well.
[19:27]
The next sheet is out of school and in school suspensions.
[19:31]
We have not had either.
[19:33]
And you see last year at this time,
[19:35]
we had already three in school suspensions.
[19:39]
And then going to the two-searched priority number three
[19:41]
capacity and sustainability. You see the enrollment numbers put up like
[19:45]
grade and also the wait list numbers and we are also solidifying in our team what
[19:50]
the trainings will be on teacher prep days as well as faculty training that I'm
[19:54]
going to add to this as a list as well of what we're focusing on. We're framing
[19:59]
every teacher prep day as almost like a mini conference with three different
[20:04]
sessions that our teachers will rotate through and every rotation that will
[20:08]
a line to one of the strategic priorities as well.
[20:12]
Thank you for being so intentional.
[20:14]
Absolutely.
[20:15]
Any questions on his reports on the board?
[20:23]
You had a question.
[20:24]
I have a question.
[20:25]
This is more future-moving.
[20:28]
Know how this behavior report is.
[20:33]
How did I leave it?
[20:36]
I would might have to make it that presentation.
[20:40]
At
[20:44]
what point, perhaps, are we going to kind of know
[20:48]
other schools, what would they impact?
[20:53]
The tweaks that we've made to our major system.
[20:56]
Yeah, great question, Laura.
[20:58]
So, just to clarify, so you guys all know this summer,
[21:02]
we looked at various systems, whether instructionally or
[21:06]
behaviorally, and instead of doing a whole system-wide
[21:10]
overhaul, or that was mentioned a few months ago
[21:12]
board meeting of like the house system we decided to fail on all of that and
[21:17]
instead just look at our current systems and where we could tweet. We're reading a
[21:22]
lot of research of just a brand new system could cause some overwhelming
[21:27]
feelings for the teachers so we decided to just look at our current systems and
[21:31]
tweet those. I would say in a year we're going to know the massive impact that it
[21:36]
has but I'll continue updating this monthly as a chance ends that are
[21:40]
report to the teachers every month of where we're at with behavior and then he also gives
[21:44]
some items of encouragement and maybe some clarity of things that we can work on.
[21:49]
So I hope we continue seeing these graphs move and even if the graph gets worse in some
[21:53]
areas that will be presented as well as all the plan of how we're going to mitigate that.
[21:59]
Just within that context I know the teachers also mentioned that they were really appreciating
[22:03]
what kind of tweets do we see in terms of what you're talking about that you want me to.
[22:14]
So,
[22:18]
as we were looking at behavior and we were looking at the house system, and kind
[22:23]
of the novelty of systems in general, we decided to approach this as well as the generation
[22:33]
that's currently in our building of trading cards and collection, instead of just having
[22:38]
one blue sore card that didn't have a rarity level or a common level, like what we have
[22:45]
now, everything was just the same.
[22:48]
So we look at it more of common cards, rare cards, epic cards, and legendary cards, just
[22:54]
like it is in the Pokemon world.
[22:57]
And there are certain employees that have certain cards.
[23:00]
So the teachers have the common card, you're going to see it's specials teachers because
[23:06]
that we saw that the behavior would be different for a specials teacher like art, music,
[23:11]
and TV.
[23:11]
The behavior would be different for them than it was for the general education teacher.
[23:15]
So we wanted to mitigate that by giving them a more rare card.
[23:19]
As well as lunch, staff, teachers, this, this, had, and a leadership team have a different
[23:23]
card.
[23:24]
That's the most rare that you're saying.
[23:25]
So, at one point, this is saying that teachers and employees have to be more intentional
[23:34]
at handing out the cards because the students need cards, so that in every month, there's
[23:39]
a new drop of cards that they can switch out those cards for actual trading cards, where
[23:45]
this month, we have Catherine Johnson and a lot of the CKLA figures and a lot of the figures
[23:51]
that are in the gym now are highlighted of why they're a historical figure that we want
[23:57]
to learn about and also what leaders may have that they come inside with.
[24:00]
So kids are now switching out their blue store cards, their basic cards and if they get
[24:04]
five of those, they get the Catherine Johnson card.
[24:08]
And in the leader of the binders, they all have card sleeve, just like card collectors.
[24:12]
So they're always excited for the next month's drop, which is next week with the September
[24:15]
drop, who are they going to collect.
[24:17]
In fact, we also wanted to have an impact on choir concerts and musicals and the STEM
[24:22]
Expo, so we have cards that you can only get at those events by attending those event ball festival.
[24:28]
So just having kind of the collection of mentality but also saying, I'm not only going to earn a
[24:35]
sore card just from my teacher and maybe from another staff member, every staff member is
[24:40]
walking around with cards that are promoting that collectibility.
[24:43]
And we also asked all the teachers in the building not to change her revampers into systems,
[24:51]
but instead of some teachers having, like, cow cash or, like, carcass or something for those
[24:57]
monetary systems in the classrooms that revolve around sore cards. And so if they're getting a
[25:03]
sore card in the hallway, in the lunchroom, outside of recess, or in the classroom, it matters in their
[25:08]
the classroom as well.
[25:10]
And so however they want to utilize their sore cards,
[25:13]
if there's something in the classroom
[25:14]
that they're working towards, great.
[25:16]
They want to do something with the counselors, great.
[25:19]
They have options, which is great.
[25:21]
So it's a true school white system.
[25:23]
Instead of, oh, I got a sore card,
[25:25]
we actually do something different in my classroom.
[25:27]
This doesn't really be in anything,
[25:29]
and might win a $5 frozen yogurt, or, you know,
[25:33]
and so it's truly a school white system now.
[25:36]
So we're currently looking for sponsors,
[25:38]
is the sponsor of his business card.
[25:40]
I have donated 75 cards already, but they have to come to the very end of the deal.
[25:48]
We are very appreciative of that, Sharna.
[25:50]
What we're looking for is monetary, because we have to pay for the sword card.
[25:54]
And now, because it's ramping up, and more people are handing it out, and kids are using them,
[26:00]
we're going to be running out in the next few weeks.
[26:04]
The donations quickly are appreciated.
[26:06]
It's hard to figure this might be done, you know?
[26:09]
Sort of piece of card stock.
[26:11]
But anyway, those revamps, like Chance said,
[26:14]
I think were really the linchpin and this whole entire thing,
[26:18]
because teachers would have their own incentive systems
[26:21]
or their teams would and then the school was working.
[26:24]
So now everything is more coherent that everyone is using the same system,
[26:27]
no matter what location or classroom they're in in the building.
[26:30]
And I think it's bringing a lot of understanding
[26:33]
because it's of what these are and what the school expectations are.
[26:36]
Okay. Thank you.
[26:40]
It sounds like it's working.
[26:42]
Yeah.
[26:42]
But the truck fingers call, but it continues for everybody to take it.
[26:46]
Okay.
[26:47]
Thank you.
[26:47]
Spencer.
[26:49]
All right.
[26:52]
So not a whole lot to report on.
[26:53]
We're a month into the new fiscal year.
[26:56]
But if you look at the summary, I'm kind of going back to the enrollment.
[27:02]
discussion that we were just having.
[27:05]
It is off to the 2030, but if we look over at the ratios in the top right, you're going
[27:12]
to see there are a lot higher than what we're accustomed to seeing at this time of the year.
[27:16]
Usually we see this around at December timeframe once that true up from the state comes through.
[27:24]
So we're just kind of ahead of the game a little bit.
[27:27]
And so a lot of this was intentional, especially as we were going through that bond process.
[27:35]
David really emphasized wanting to have, to report numbers that were more intentional
[27:47]
yet.
[27:48]
And so, yeah, that's kind of the thought process that went into that as we put this budget
[27:58]
together. So if the enrollment does dip a little bit, don't be alarmed. We do have plenty
[28:06]
of cushions to absorb that. That would happen. But looking at the budget report as a whole,
[28:16]
when we're looking at the each of these line items, you can see some of them are in red. Again,
[28:22]
don't be alarmed by that. Those are those line items that we're accustomed to seeing turned
[28:28]
high at beginning of the year. So like text books, technology, hardware, those things that we need
[28:36]
to purchase before the school year starts. And so we see it trending high, but we still have
[28:42]
plenty in each of those buckets to utilize if we need to throughout the year. Again, at the bottom,
[28:49]
You're going to see that reserve section there and we see another 461,000 coming out of that.
[28:59]
Again, those are just for the building costs.
[29:01]
More invoices coming through.
[29:04]
And so we do have that bond that we're utilizing for those expenses now.
[29:12]
But yeah, nothing too concerning at this point.
[29:16]
everything's looking great and we're just working with the auditors to finish up
[29:22]
last year's audit and we'll get that close out and be able to focus 100% on this
[29:29]
fiscal year for a few months until we repeat the cycle for next year. I did get
[29:36]
an email from the auditor which I responded to. Oh perfect. So that comes through.
[29:56]
So I think it's the last board meeting there's a
[30:00]
A big discussion, I think it was Kevin that brought up the concern about the salaries turning
[30:06]
a lot higher than the overall revenue increase from the state, and that brought a little bit
[30:13]
of a concern. What I did is I worked with Debbie to reconcile those positions, making sure
[30:21]
that we weren't budgeting on more staff than what we're actually utilizing and what we found
[30:30]
is there was a lot of savings. We had added those lines a little bit more than what we were
[30:37]
using and part of the reason behind I guess I mean it's not intentional but the reason behind
[30:46]
that happening is we're starting on those agreements for staff months before we get this
[30:54]
budget in place and so it's that revolving door we don't know who's going out who's being hired
[31:01]
and so it was there were few positions where we just had a placeholder in there for a new hire but
[31:09]
that new hire was already accounted for somewhere else so yeah going through that process we did
[31:16]
find a good amount of savings in those in that salary line out of the 100s so
[31:22]
just wanted to report back as I know that was a concern last month but we do
[31:29]
have we're in a great position as we move forward to next year and we start
[31:35]
seeing those new bonds show up on the expense I feel like we're in a great
[31:41]
position to be able to absorb them and not be hindering ourselves from providing a salary
[31:48]
increase next year.
[31:49]
So anything else, Casey?
[31:56]
No, it's okay.
[31:57]
Perfect.
[32:06]
Any other questions for Spencer?
[32:09]
We'll move on.
[32:12]
Sounds good.
[32:13]
Yeah.
[32:13]
Thank you very much.
[32:15]
All right.
[32:15]
That brings us to the committee reports.
[32:18]
So we'll go through those.
[32:19]
Being at the beginning of the school year, I suspect that many of these committee have
[32:23]
not met yet.
[32:24]
So, we'll move through those as quickly as possible.
[32:27]
Right?
[32:28]
Nothing to report, but we're getting some work from the state that we're going to have some work to do in the next month.
[32:36]
So, there'll be policies coming our way, but nothing to report yet.
[32:39]
And let me just pause there. I know that we are still waiting for these state annual state report documents every since then yesterday to say where is it?
[32:50]
And they're investigating.
[32:53]
And then just for everyone's, yeah, awareness is the state still sends us email
[33:01]
even though reporting calendar isn't published and this is due then. So it's not
[33:06]
like we're missing anything that is due. There's just a calendar as
[33:10]
matter of these. I suspected that would be the case and I'm as confident as I'm
[33:14]
sitting here that it won't change much from last year. Dates possibly but
[33:19]
the months that they are due will still be the same.
[33:25]
Finance committee, anything to report there?
[33:30]
Other than what's been chaired?
[33:33]
What you say to the new chair is...
[33:35]
Shardin.
[33:41]
I couldn't make it to the meeting.
[33:43]
I have one meeting a month that I can't.
[33:45]
We did change the date.
[33:47]
You can reach out to your hoping.
[33:48]
Perfect, perfect.
[33:51]
Thank you.
[33:52]
We'll look forward to hearing from you next month, but I'd love you to do the other.
[34:00]
Which brings me to Katey, Katey to report on the audit.
[34:07]
Benefit committee?
[34:09]
How the new chair is Debbie.
[34:10]
Debbie?
[34:11]
Cabaca.
[34:12]
Yep.
[34:12]
Love you Debbie.
[34:13]
Benefit?
[34:14]
Yep.
[34:15]
Anything you'd like to reach our attention at this point, other than the fact that you're
[34:19]
in.
[34:19]
I'm not saying right now, okay, thank you.
[34:23]
Curriculum committee, do you see anything you'd like to plan out?
[34:26]
Our first meeting will be next week, we're super excited.
[34:30]
I'm super excited, I should say.
[34:32]
The team is going to be very excited once in a while.
[34:35]
About the direction that we're heading, so we are going to be reviewing Curriculum and kind
[34:41]
of taking that into different avenues, so not only reviewing for potential new additions
[34:47]
or improvements to curriculum, but also reviewing
[34:49]
the curriculum that we currently have
[34:51]
and figuring out what pieces we might be missing
[34:53]
or resources and tools that teachers are not utilizing
[34:56]
to its fullest, because they may not know
[34:58]
that it's there or over time
[35:00]
and they're keeping guide and things like that
[35:02]
and might have gotten overlooked.
[35:04]
So a lot of work to come down,
[35:07]
but we're gonna be focusing mainly on our detail,
[35:10]
the language of, and we're gonna keep them good
[35:13]
and give our rights towards as well.
[35:15]
I'd love to hear that.
[35:16]
and Laura, you'll be online committee, thank you both, outreach committee, I think you can leave, okay.
[35:26]
Technology committee, I know he's not here, but is there anything he would like-
[35:31]
No, he didn't have anything on board.
[35:33]
Okay, Brady, my trust, anything there?
[35:36]
Okay, PTO committee.
[35:39]
So the PTO has been really productive this month.
[35:43]
We have a leadership transition and Ashley Marie has officially decided to step in as
[35:49]
a president.
[35:50]
We're really excited about that.
[35:52]
She was vice president, originally.
[35:55]
We inducted interviews according to the bylaws of who was the new sis and we narrowed it
[36:02]
down to two candidates and we met today and voted.
[36:07]
She started being adamantly to fill out the position with Brittany's front.
[36:12]
She's earned a vice president.
[36:14]
So that's exciting that our fellow leadership team all come together and functioning really well.
[36:22]
Everyone's been really willing to jump in during this transition, so that's being great.
[36:30]
Ashley and our Chargers finalize the PTO budget for the year and I believe they can invest in it.
[36:36]
which I shared with you so you could update your document.
[36:39]
Okay.
[36:41]
And then we're just jumping up for a fall bet.
[36:45]
Did you hear the question?
[36:46]
Can you share?
[36:47]
I don't know.
[36:48]
How fast?
[36:48]
Will you tell me what date that is?
[36:50]
That is going to overthink.
[36:55]
I don't know.
[36:56]
I don't know.
[36:57]
I don't know.
[36:57]
Yeah.
[36:58]
I don't know.
[37:00]
Yeah.
[37:00]
That's been there.
[37:02]
And before that, our next activity on the calendar is to go into the program.
[37:07]
And that's on which thing?
[37:09]
That is on.
[37:10]
But Tuesday, I agree.
[37:11]
Back to the week.
[37:14]
Yes.
[37:14]
September 8th.
[37:17]
So overall, I think we're in a place where we can go to now.
[37:23]
I'm glad to hear that there was interest in for that commission.
[37:26]
And that she was willing to send its president.
[37:28]
that the wants of being to trouble in the last minute,
[37:32]
so we appreciate that.
[37:33]
That should be great.
[37:34]
Fantastic.
[37:35]
Keep it any headway with Miguel and Ed.
[37:39]
Not the official.
[37:40]
We're hoping to meet next Monday.
[37:44]
Although it's still in the flux.
[37:46]
There's lots of people who put it inside there.
[37:49]
That's not the heart part.
[37:51]
I get that.
[37:52]
All right.
[37:53]
We'll look forward to maybe some update on that in September.
[37:57]
As far as board development committee, as we were going to do the open and public meeting
[38:01]
act and the first preview part of the preview, we'll postpone what you're going to do
[38:07]
today, to next month, and we'll probably end up backing some of those things out.
[38:13]
Can I ask a small question, may I speak to the bill committees?
[38:16]
No, I have no idea who to fill those committees.
[38:18]
I was not able to add it, but then it is what I, and I have a tinkered on my side and
[38:24]
give it everybody permission.
[38:26]
So I think what I need to do is copy it, put it on a different page, and try again.
[38:31]
But I was thinking about that as I was driving on my way here tonight, but because you, David
[38:36]
sent me a couple messages a couple of times, all of the things that I sent out.
[38:40]
None of them have been responded to, so I wonder if it's whatever, I don't know.
[38:45]
And I use Google lots of people to fill out all the time, so I don't know why it's not.
[38:51]
I don't know what's wrong, but watch for probably tomorrow or Monday an email from me
[38:55]
with a copy and paste it, and hopefully that will fix it.
[38:59]
In the meantime, mark your calendars for those of you who can join us to support the
[39:03]
VTO on the aid to help with the donuts and groceries.
[39:07]
Thank you.
[39:08]
So for development, it will be the open public meeting training next month, and campus management
[39:12]
was there anything you wanted to draw attention to?
[39:15]
We skipped the land trust, Shannon.
[39:18]
Did it?
[39:19]
No, she asked.
[39:20]
Oh, I guess I wasn't paying attention.
[39:24]
I know.
[39:26]
You wouldn't have had to say anything.
[39:28]
Would you have something to report?
[39:30]
Yeah, I have an update on that.
[39:32]
I don't have an email in my account.
[39:34]
Yeah, I've tried to change.
[39:36]
Yeah, I am.
[39:37]
Okay, perfect.
[39:39]
So land trust is good.
[39:44]
We just continue to get audited and they're switching things you guys might remember last year
[39:50]
We had to put in place a land trust policy of like the date the surveys will be sent out. It's very
[39:56]
very
[39:57]
Rescriptive and so they audited our whole entire land trust budget from the
[40:02]
24 25 year and they found that
[40:07]
1200 dollars was
[40:09]
was given to the land trust line item
[40:12]
that should have been just to the general line item.
[40:15]
One of those was the computer that had been used as,
[40:19]
and so they said to the students don't use it,
[40:21]
it can't be to land trust,
[40:22]
so we were able to absorb that in the journal budget.
[40:25]
And then there was a few other random supplies
[40:29]
that were picked up.
[40:30]
So it was nice working with her,
[40:32]
and as Spencer and I have changed the way
[40:34]
that we budget everything for land trust.
[40:36]
so any purchase order now has to have the specific goal of land trust on that
[40:43]
purchase order and aligned. And then we just have to make sure that it's only
[40:47]
students that are using it. So we can't purchase a Chromebook that a teacher or
[40:53]
an admin would use with the technology for all the hasty students. So we're
[40:58]
learning as we go and she said it was very, very good and she's like we only pick
[41:03]
up $1,200 off of $151,000 budget and I was really searching because she was happy
[41:07]
that it gave us good feedback.
[41:10]
Okay.
[41:12]
Thank you for that update.
[41:14]
Sorry I wasn't listening.
[41:15]
That's all right.
[41:16]
Let's move on to the action items and Brady, will you kindly take item number one and
[41:23]
I'm going to refrain from that completely?
[41:27]
Is it from the creative?
[41:28]
Yes.
[41:29]
Just entertain the motion and work through that process.
[41:31]
Okay.
[41:32]
I'll entertain a motion for UAECS membership views.
[41:40]
If somebody makes a motion for it.
[41:46]
I'll sign it.
[41:48]
I'll sign it.
[41:49]
I'll make a motion to approve UAECS membership views and the amount of $8,288 dollars.
[41:56]
I'll sign it up.
[42:01]
Okay.
[42:02]
Any discussion?
[42:02]
Yeah, I'll just point out that due to the enrollment number right now in 1047, you can see on it that it's $8 per student that will be padded to this as well.
[42:16]
And I can't help myself.
[42:18]
I'm sorry.
[42:22]
If once that is paid, then you'll be able to register for a tour of the Anthropos.
[42:27]
That's a new thing this year.
[42:30]
It's very specific.
[42:33]
Anybody else?
[42:34]
I have a question.
[42:35]
Can I ask a clarification question?
[42:38]
So, are we talking about the training that would participate that you have to buy for that?
[42:57]
So what our membership dues pay for is Royce's time on the campaigning and working
[43:04]
with legislatures of what he does all year round as part of an advocacy,
[43:10]
the one he
[43:14]
It's because that's more of a, you pay to go or you participate in training to go, it's
[43:19]
the training to provide, whoever is coming in to provide those trainings, the funds go
[43:26]
towards that.
[43:27]
They also go towards some of the shared services that are available and the opportunity to
[43:32]
be fingerprinted.
[43:34]
We don't ever take advantage of that down in the Southern Utah area, but in the packet,
[43:40]
there's a letter from Royce that kind of outlines the words that they're doing that this
[43:44]
comes from. Does that answer your questions? And things like, and events, things like
[43:50]
journey on the hill, things like, when we gather all of the, like when we do the, the
[43:56]
Southern New Town Legislative Update and Royce comes down and bringing in some food, things
[44:01]
like that. Yeah, so it's more broad, but what I was thinking, training was just those 10 topics
[44:06]
that we're trying to on and everything that's going on down here is being done all
[44:12]
throughout the state.
[44:17]
No, for the discussion, all in favor?
[44:20]
Hi.
[44:20]
Hi.
[44:22]
Anybody opposed?
[44:24]
No.
[44:25]
I have a speaker.
[44:26]
Oh, yeah.
[44:26]
And you have that one.
[44:31]
Thank you.
[44:32]
Thank you for stepping in.
[44:34]
I actually thought about that earlier today to give you a heads up, and then I forgot to do that.
[44:38]
But thank you.
[44:39]
So the great base and engineering fee proposal is the next item on the agenda to full
[44:43]
will entertain a motion for that.
[44:45]
I
[44:57]
want you to move the motion to approve the great face.
[45:00]
This is an engineering e-corposal in the amount of $7,855. Thank you. Do we have a second?
[45:10]
All turn.
[45:11]
A vote. She's been made by Lauren, second by Brady. Open for discussion.
[45:16]
This was, this
[45:18]
is a simple, should have been simple. They just took the plot that we had and the new land
[45:24]
And I think that we had part participle years ago and made them one plot.
[45:31]
We didn't know that it hadn't been done and it would not any of our radars until we
[45:35]
received the information from, yes.
[45:38]
I had a question about it.
[45:40]
Just in my experience, usually, this is part of the contract with the development.
[45:48]
Normally it is, but this was on Nobody's radar.
[45:51]
They thought it had already been done.
[45:53]
And so we were at a meeting with youth, all of their people all together.
[45:56]
and Jason was there and he said that he had reached out to the group to start working some
[46:02]
things and they said that they couldn't work on it until we had worked them. And then
[46:08]
it wasn't part of his proposal, we had to just pay for it.
[46:15]
I didn't even know things
[46:24]
So we're going to reimburse and bonds, though?
[46:27]
I'm sure any problem there?
[46:28]
Yeah.
[46:30]
I mean, directly paid.
[46:32]
All right.
[46:33]
At this point, you're right, actually,
[46:35]
with the inconsiderate reimbursement.
[46:37]
OK, if there are no additional questions,
[46:41]
then we will afford that vote.
[46:44]
Those in favor of approving the rate-based engineering
[46:47]
fee proposal in the amount of $7,865, please say aye.
[47:15]
I don't know how many of you saw that we had the water flow and it's been a process.
[47:22]
Teachers of Inpatient admin has been great.
[47:25]
Is there anything there you feel like we should be aware of,
[47:28]
or anything with the movement in the office that you want us to know of?
[47:32]
It's moving smoothly, and I think Hughes has been really good to community.
[47:36]
Oh, yeah, they're great communicators.
[47:39]
And just a little hiccups,
[47:41]
a few things that we're seeing, they've been great to instantly change and pivot.
[47:45]
that they will start laying the rebar and pouring foundation in the next few weeks, which
[47:54]
will be great.
[47:55]
And right now the plan is that they'll start framing the first week of November on the
[47:59]
additional offices as well as the expansion.
[48:02]
And Debbie, thank you for your patience in that process.
[48:06]
I mean, office phase and not having office phase.
[48:08]
You all have been moving around.
[48:10]
All of you.
[48:11]
So thank you for that.
[48:13]
All right, that's all I really, that's the only update to everything else is moving smoothly, and they've been extremely good at discussing and cooperating with us.
[48:23]
Is there a need for a closed session tonight?
[48:29]
I'm having heard nothing and not being aware of anything myself, then just for information, our next four being will be September 24th.
[48:39]
training at 4 o'clock, 4 or 7 o'clock.
[48:41]
Training at 7 o'clock is the meeting at 7.30.
[48:44]
Again, it will be open in public meeting
[48:45]
so we can check that off our list
[48:47]
and be compliant with our next audit.
[48:51]
Is there anything else that we should be aware of?
[48:56]
In the meantime, you should receive an email
[48:58]
for a survey information.
[49:01]
Please take a minute and fill that out.
[49:03]
And we have about two weeks.
[49:05]
Yes.
[49:06]
Originally the email was sent in the document
[49:09]
that it's due on the 11th of September.
[49:12]
So if we get out next day or two,
[49:14]
we'll keep that one in deadline,
[49:15]
that gives us two weeks to process the data
[49:18]
for the next four weeks.
[49:20]
If it takes much longer than that, we'll adjust it, okay?
[49:24]
All right, so then,
[49:25]
a motion to adjourn.
[49:27]
Oh, my goodness.
[49:29]
All in favor?
[49:30]
All right.
[49:31]
And just to be real,
[49:32]
we don't even have to do that,
[49:33]
but it's kind of fun to do it so early.
[49:36]
And it's really not,
[49:37]
Yes, there's a little bit over there close enough.
[49:39]
Just the lack of lights and the interest is close.
[49:41]
The skeleton of power is the two main transporters
[49:45]
with fuel power areas and four different power companies
[49:48]
wanting them to have.
[49:49]
And so they're cycling the other one,
[49:51]
and it can take months to replace the transformer.
[49:54]
So I filled water containers when you home
[49:56]
and we do that help because the water is pumped into water
[49:59]
powers with power.
[50:00]
Still.
[50:01]
They're running right now on the emergency generators.
[50:03]
If the generators go down to the cycle law, there's no way to refill our water house.
[50:09]
So Costco run on to toilet paper and water it in tomorrow and they can even open their doors?
[50:13]
They probably aren't because no credit cards, there's no bathroom.
[50:16]
So that's why you've been to a place where you keep cash under your mattress?
[50:21]
Yeah.
[50:21]
Well that would be interesting.
[50:22]
What about gas tanks?
[50:23]
I'm afraid if I were to get hold of it.
[50:25]
Oh, yeah.
[50:25]
I mean can we cash in at home unless they have a backup generator?
[50:31]
So that's a good thing to ask Blake.
[50:32]
Do you have a backup plan in case we don't?
[50:35]
I don't know.
[50:37]
Can we hire one?
[50:40]
Yeah.
[50:41]
It will be hot.
[50:43]
It will be hot.
[50:44]
It will be hot also.
[50:45]
Anyway, we are going to use a...
[50:47]
We are going to use a...
[50:49]
And to be honest,
[50:51]
Desert Hills and Dixie High School would let their people in their buildings without electricity.
[50:56]
Yeah.
[50:57]
They made them all wear you so, I'm curious.
[51:13]
Yes.
