All
[0:06]
right, so we'll call the meeting to order, the Big Harbor Arts Commission, and why don't we start out with a roll call, and I will leave it off.
[0:17]
Sonia Johnson, chairman, Deborah Vrenman, commissioner.
[0:22]
Suzanne Gilman, commissioner.
[0:34]
And then if everyone had a chance to take a look at the minutes of our last meeting and I think that was our creative endeavor, yes, meeting, can we have a motion to approve the minutes for that meeting?
[0:54]
This morning we have two new commissioners who you have joined us.
[0:59]
So, you know, unfortunately under tragic circumstances, but now we have these two new commissioners,
[1:05]
so I think are going to be a real nice addition to our group.
[1:09]
We have Robin Avmi, and Robin was previously on our Arts Commission.
[1:14]
She was also on the State of Washington Arts Commission.
[1:18]
She's an author and an artist.
[1:21]
And she's currently the president of the municipal art group.
[1:25]
And then we have Nora Eckstein.
[1:30]
And Nora somewhat recently moved here from California.
[1:34]
And she is very active in the performance.
[1:38]
So she's an acting coach and a teacher.
[1:40]
and she's taught at Tom Taylor YMCA and I know you actively teach in the Los
[1:46]
Angeles area. So we have the visual arts and performing arts, so I think that's
[1:51]
going to be a really nice addition to our group. So welcome to both of you.
[1:56]
Thank you. Glad to be back.
[2:02]
So we don't have much of an agenda today, not a lot
[2:07]
to talk about, but one of the things is our Harbor-Arbor Art Project. And I don't know, typically
[2:13]
if you've got any updates as to any applications that we may have got, we have not received any
[2:18]
applications. But we did get that email yesterday. Yeah, did you get the email from the email?
[2:25]
Right. Yeah, right. So Lynn used to be in charge of the Harbor Art. I mean,
[2:32]
she was a member of the commission, but that was her project. And she did a great job with it.
[2:36]
and she was always out there actively, like, you know, in the forest, looking for snags and
[2:42]
meeting with the artist. And so she, and did you get a copy of her email too? Yeah. So, you know,
[2:48]
she had some, not even concerns, but some things that she kind of wanted to bring up with us and
[2:53]
saying that, you know, this artist that we had was a really good carver. And I think the problem
[2:59]
with it, though, if I remember correctly, it wasn't that, it wasn't even the fact that
[3:04]
he wanted to do the art in his studio, I think that would have been fine. But it was
[3:08]
the process then of getting the city's public works department involved. And it was like
[3:14]
using a crane and machinery and all that kind of thing. And they just couldn't dedicate
[3:19]
that time and machinery to it. Because it's like if this gentleman had some way that
[3:25]
he could do something that didn't require that huge installation, and you know, Carolyn,
[3:30]
I know you've kind of taken this on as your project, but I think that would be great to
[3:35]
be able to use him if it could be something that didn't lead to that installation.
[3:40]
Right. My, well, not having the information that we didn't get any
[3:48]
applicants to do similar snags, my initial thought when I read her email was,
[3:54]
was that bad for how?
[3:57]
When we first discussed the project most recently,
[4:01]
we thought we were talking about getting
[4:04]
some more snags carved and things like that,
[4:08]
and then creating a QR code and placing
[4:12]
into the different entrances so people could go and kind of
[4:15]
find the different snags.
[4:17]
And I thought that was such a great idea.
[4:19]
The thought of putting all this other art in there
[4:23]
kind of, in my opinion, kind of took away from what a cool caravan forest would look like, you know.
[4:30]
They talked about mosaics and something else, and I was trying to find out how does that work with bullet.
[4:36]
Right. And when I was originally looking for other parks, because originally we thought,
[4:43]
maybe we'll do this all over the city, all these snags all over the city and how cool it would be,
[4:47]
me. The other parts of the city really did lend themselves to, they didn't have the larger
[4:55]
pieces of stags that we have in the brand new. So, I thought, well, if they wanted to
[5:02]
do something, we wanted to do something more upon a lot, looking like what she, whoops,
[5:08]
My mom's talking to me about it, but it was a nice house for me.
[5:14]
You know, maybe we could look at that for other parts, you know, doing other art that would
[5:22]
be more viable for that kind of art.
[5:25]
I just think kind of putting a bunch of other art pieces in grand view, just kind of, I
[5:31]
don't know, kind of...
[5:33]
What's already there in this art?
[5:35]
Yeah.
[5:35]
I don't know. That's just my opinion. Long winded opinion.
[5:39]
Well, you know, I took a look at our call for ArtTube because I thought maybe we need to expand the definition or expand what we're looking for.
[5:49]
But it doesn't just say carving. It does say embellishment. And so I think it is a little bit more open-ended because I just wanted to make sure it didn't just say that we were looking for wood carvings.
[6:00]
But even, you know, maybe not a mosaic,
[6:04]
but even if there were some truck in somebody,
[6:06]
you could nail something on it or do something.
[6:09]
I mean, I could see how you could have some sort of art
[6:13]
still on the tree snail without being, you know,
[6:18]
not true to the character of the service.
[6:21]
Besides the gigabyte, is this call for artists
[6:25]
raised to anyone or else?
[6:27]
Well, it was on the city's website
[6:28]
And then it was promoted in social media in the gigabyte punk.
[6:33]
Should I make a suggestion?
[6:35]
We could promote the arts, the state arts commission would promote it as a potential project.
[6:42]
I think it would give them this. They put it on their social media.
[6:45]
I think if we gave them a social media post.
[6:49]
Does it have to be a gig hard?
[6:52]
Are we an artist?
[6:53]
No.
[6:56]
But I was wondering, even just more locally, what about, you know, your, your peninsula
[7:01]
early?
[7:01]
Do you have some sort of an email blast or a newsletter or something?
[7:05]
We have a couple different things.
[7:08]
Yeah.
[7:08]
We have a creative brief every two weeks that goes out.
[7:11]
And then we have a digital magazine that goes out five times a year.
[7:16]
So we'd be happy to put it in there.
[7:19]
That's not an issue at all.
[7:21]
If it's the two-week one, that would be nice.
[7:25]
And maybe some of the artists there
[7:26]
are looking at the gigabyte, maybe missed it.
[7:30]
So there might be someone, right?
[7:31]
And that's what already happened.
[7:33]
Then it could be potentially someone.
[7:36]
I think that I know there's no tree carvers.
[7:39]
So I'm going to go there.
[7:43]
But I thought the idea of a mosaic was interesting.
[7:47]
And we do have some mosaic of artists.
[7:49]
And I would, if you want, I would just reach out to them directly, because I haven't read
[7:55]
the call for artists, but I don't know if it prompts anything like that, you know, like
[8:02]
the Mosaic of Artists could look at it and think.
[8:04]
Yeah, and then Roe said, Lynn, she didn't mention Mosaics, and so I was trying to
[8:11]
picture how that blueboard would.
[8:14]
Well, or it could be, you know, there are paths there, right?
[8:18]
So there could be like half markers or something in Mosaic, something like that.
[8:26]
I haven't been in the park in a long time. I'll have to walk and see what's there.
[8:33]
But, and this is, this is.
[8:37]
So how do you park is the one now that has that the building in it, right?
[8:41]
This is just on the other side of right over here.
[8:47]
Okay.
[8:48]
All right.
[8:49]
All right.
[8:49]
All right.
[8:49]
After the meeting.
[8:50]
Um, but yeah, it could be some sort of marker or something that could be a mosaic.
[8:56]
I mean, if you're open, if you guys like other ideas, um, I think the I, but
[9:04]
But I do know that we don't have, you know, if it was just that you wanted tree snags,
[9:10]
I'm not sure that there's anybody in the Peninsular League who would do that.
[9:17]
But maybe they might know somebody who does.
[9:21]
Not sure.
[9:22]
That's the first possibility.
[9:23]
They might.
[9:25]
But yeah, but I mean, happy to put it in our newsletter, not a private one.
[9:33]
It's just, you hate to see another year go by without adding something to that.
[9:37]
So the money's set aside already, and so it's just a question of how much is the budget.
[9:43]
So this was the, it's since has expired, the time to apply was May 1st.
[9:51]
But this was the newsflash that went on.
[9:55]
So it does say artistic carving or embellishment.
[9:59]
Is it 1500?
[10:00]
No, no, it was like 7,500.
[10:02]
Yeah, I mean, that's that's a good budget. It's all artistic things. I think that I think we know say it could be interesting, especially, but yeah, stones just, you know, stones or and something nice to open it up and see what people come up with.
[10:20]
Yeah, I agree. I think the thing is, is that like with any sort of installation right like you have to make sure there's a whole bunch of safety.
[10:30]
So the trees are pretty self-standing. I mean, self-supporting, you know, for example.
[10:36]
But what is the city's view, I wonder, on, like, something like the Mosaic in terms of maintenance, et cetera?
[10:44]
Yeah. We'd probably have to talk to our public works department about that if the commission was going to open it up to something like that.
[10:53]
Yeah. I was thinking that even if it were mosaic, we're still talking about the trees
[10:58]
and the snags, because that's kind of what the whole purpose is. I was thinking it would
[11:03]
be somehow embedded in the tree trunk. And then, just like the snags, though, it's kind
[11:09]
of left to naturally weather and deteriorate. So I don't think anyone would be out there
[11:15]
polishing it off or doing anything to it. My concern would be as it deteriorates,
[11:20]
Is there stuff falling? Is there, that's, you know, if it's a lot of stuff is
[11:24]
attached and then it's crumbling, that would be fine.
[11:27]
Sure, sure. Depending on what.
[11:31]
Yeah, kind of cool if we were going to do something like that to look at our other parts
[11:37]
and maybe, because we want to, we have, I think there were, if I remember right,
[11:41]
this was about a year ago, I think there were seven parts in the city and I visited all of them
[11:47]
And they're all have all have walking trouts and none of them have any would be kind of cool to be able to say
[11:52]
This is our mosaic park. This is our snag park. This is our nice, you know, and and we can have a whole
[12:00]
because that would be
[12:02]
You know something that people might a destination right you kind of like the big hobbit things, you know
[12:07]
Oh, yeah
[12:18]
So, you know, a troll or a haunt is, you know.
[12:21]
Well, you know, even like Nora was saying, if it was done with stones,
[12:24]
and that's having two of them as it naturally deteriorated, you're back to natural elements.
[12:30]
So, you don't have shards of glass or anything like that that people would have to repart.
[12:35]
Yeah.
[12:36]
Yeah, like stone or mosaic.
[12:39]
Stone would be nice.
[12:39]
Like you're just saying one of those, like when you go to the beach and people go,
[12:43]
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right. And those would be very natural, right?
[12:49]
Or even like garden some kind of, like a natural. So, I really like your idea of separating them out.
[12:58]
But if we did that, would we want to define it or just let it naturally be defined by what shows up?
[13:07]
Well, I don't know. I guess let's talk about conversation.
[13:09]
Do we want to have things for each owner, or do we want to open it up for, you know,
[13:16]
not going to be kind of cool to open it up for different art cases at different parks?
[13:21]
If you have a thing, though, do we need to clear that with ten-met parks?
[13:27]
You know, though, since we don't have any offers at all, since no one is interested,
[13:32]
I kind of think we need to leave it open.
[13:34]
We can't, you know, even though we have no offers, here's what we want in this park.
[13:38]
So let me see what we get and then just let the artists sort of have to find that maybe right. Yeah
[13:44]
Right. I think I'm as far as this they're separate. Yeah, okay
[13:50]
I haven't I haven't been to any of the parks. So
[13:53]
I have been here for almost nine years. I've got value, but it feels new so
[13:59]
There's a great shoot. I wish I'd remembered the streets
[14:03]
There are some great parks. Well, there's just even
[14:05]
and sound music part right at the end of sound music.
[14:09]
I thought that was the right thing for the first time.
[14:12]
Yeah, but you know, people walking down to seven seas,
[14:15]
you know, like, you know how to like that,
[14:17]
but it's right, you know, seven seas is,
[14:19]
yeah, it's that little park up to the right.
[14:22]
There's, yeah, there's all sorts of parts
[14:25]
and they're all walkable and they're really kind of cool,
[14:28]
but then it'd be kind of really fun
[14:30]
to have to come out of pieces.
[14:32]
It's like summer projects.
[14:33]
Yeah.
[14:35]
So does this the money that's put aside because I forget when we put this money aside if they've had any sort of limitations on could it be what you know does it have to be an installation kind of be some sort of creative invent or something like that.
[14:54]
Well, I think it's not for an event, but it is for any kind of installation in those.
[15:00]
Forest is my understanding, so it's been focused on carvings, but it could be embellishment, but
[15:06]
it's not like to have an art show in the forest. It's not for that. It's for a certain piece of art.
[15:14]
Yeah. Okay, I was just thinking more of like, I know of events that have not events, but just
[15:19]
flower installations in forests. So you put, you work with somebody like the West Sound Flower
[15:26]
sure there are a lot of flower farmers in this area and, you know, in the summer they've got an
[15:34]
abundance of, you know, and if you had them come in and do flower installations and trees, I mean,
[15:42]
I've participated in something like that before and then it just naturally decays. It's not like
[15:48]
you'd have to take it down, you know, and some of them, even if they're dry flowers,
[15:54]
to be quite beautiful, but I don't know if that's outside what you're thinking or whatever, so just
[16:00]
an idea. Do you know anything about glass flowers? About what? Do you know anything? No, not glass,
[16:06]
real flowers, where they would come in. There's like, you know, 15 or 20 flower farms in this area.
[16:14]
Yeah, there's some pots. And actually, I don't know many, this is what my books about,
[16:20]
that's why I know about it. But there's actually, if anybody's ever heard of farm girl flowers,
[16:27]
there are headquarters down here on the peninsula. Yeah, so they move from San Francisco to here.
[16:36]
So there's lots of resources to do something like that in the summer that could be, it's not
[16:45]
really an event but it could be like an installation for and you just leave them
[16:50]
there and let them decay but I don't think it would cost this though but it's
[16:55]
kind of making me think when you say I mean to be honest I'm like you I've been
[17:00]
here diners and you think I've been in one of the you know and that's kind of
[17:05]
sad because there's a reason or a reason to go you know to check something
[17:11]
Yeah.
[17:11]
I would not be kind of cool.
[17:13]
Oh, is this the flower?
[17:14]
Yeah.
[17:14]
I love that idea.
[17:17]
I would be natural.
[17:18]
Yeah.
[17:19]
I can send you examples of, you know, what's been done in other places.
[17:23]
Okay.
[17:24]
Yeah.
[17:25]
I seem to remember that we discussed that the 7500 was to go to one artist.
[17:32]
Is that correct?
[17:36]
I think that was for the person crying for a second.
[17:40]
For what it could be and we kind of while we were looking for proposals. So, yeah
[17:45]
Depends on what what the proposals were somebody might have said here
[17:48]
I can create this for three thousand and somebody might have said I can create this for two thousand and you know
[17:53]
So it really depended. I think on what came in
[17:58]
Okay
[17:59]
Yeah, I guess it's like if somebody came in with mosaic and said oh, I could do that for $3,500
[18:06]
Right, yeah
[18:07]
then you could accept multiple applications.
[18:12]
It's the forest. Unfortunately, they don't have a lot of sunshine, but when you were talking flowers,
[18:17]
I've seen really beautiful plantings of flowers that are in a design or a shape of something,
[18:25]
but they generally do much with shade of the forest.
[18:29]
They're all shaped loans.
[18:32]
Yeah, you could plan in an interesting way.
[18:36]
Coley is especially.
[18:38]
Yeah, they don't look pretty.
[18:40]
They have a big design, but just a lot of plans.
[18:44]
I mean, in kind of installations, I've seen two,
[18:47]
whereas they just kind of go,
[18:48]
I didn't make it more like a fairy forest.
[18:51]
Like, do you know what I mean?
[18:52]
Like it's not just put a heart in there or something.
[18:56]
That's great too,
[18:57]
but they kind of make it like exploratory and little kind of, you know,
[19:03]
tuck this in a snag here and that in a snag there, you know. And it's not made the last, right? So
[19:12]
it doesn't necessarily matter that there's not a lot of snags because... Right, right.
[19:17]
Well, would it be better to say if we were going to go down this route that
[19:21]
that any art would need to be self-sustainable
[19:24]
and to not put labor onto the city, would that do it?
[19:29]
Yeah, I'll have to look at what the contract says right now.
[19:36]
I'll have to see if there's anything about maintenance.
[19:39]
I would assume that it's not.
[19:41]
I would assume it's a hands-off type of a thing.
[19:45]
So I'd have to confirm that.
[19:47]
Yeah, that's a good question.
[19:48]
But yeah, it's fine.
[19:49]
It's fine too.
[19:49]
Yeah.
[19:50]
Yeah, I forgot that when I went out to the different parks looking for snags, I created a report and I will try to find it.
[20:01]
That was like a year ago.
[20:02]
Yeah, that's why I was told more.
[20:04]
Well, try to find it because I've had pictures of all the different parks.
[20:06]
That would be great.
[20:07]
So I'll try to find it and send it.
[20:09]
Have you all been to the different parks before?
[20:12]
I have questions.
[20:14]
Okay, you're the best one of them.
[20:16]
I have to lay across the street from the sound.
[20:23]
That's the one that's kind of the hot part.
[20:26]
Yeah, the sound part, sound you purse the hot one right now under a lot of discussion.
[20:33]
Was it difficult to take about how to mention. Yeah.
[20:37]
But they're also talking about what to do in that house, right? Yeah.
[20:42]
There's a house somewhere.
[20:43]
Yeah, I didn't know there was either.
[20:46]
Yeah, so far and I don't know. I've never been to that part.
[20:50]
I don't even see it.
[20:53]
Yeah, the sound you guys. Yeah.
[20:57]
I have to go walking down there. Yeah.
[21:00]
You know, when you were talking about obits and trolls,
[21:03]
but I've seen those little fairy houses too.
[21:06]
And those can be really cool. Like the moss for the room.
[21:08]
We've been giving him a lot of bark and all that, and then touch those up, and that's, you know.
[21:12]
That would be a sweet idea too, just to, like, ask people to do a fairy house contest.
[21:18]
That's probably a good idea.
[21:19]
You know what I mean?
[21:20]
I mean, when you were saying they don't have carvers, but I would think there are people that probably either
[21:25]
they wouldn't do that or wouldn't do that, and that would be a fun thing.
[21:30]
If there were 10 fairy houses in the, and then, you know, you walk around and look for them.
[21:35]
I would think kids would like that and adults would like that.
[21:39]
In the heart there is a tree and it looks like an old man in the trunk and it looks like it has two
[21:49]
eyes and a big nose and kind of a smile and I think that it's a family that does exactly that.
[21:54]
They've created this little fairy and all on their own and every time I walk my dog through
[22:00]
there it's changed so I'm filming it's it's kids you know parents and their kids
[22:06]
that go and change it all the time and a Christmas time I'll go to the dollar
[22:09]
store and kind of add to it you know because I like I thought oh wouldn't
[22:14]
it be fun if you were a kid something you know changed and then something new so
[22:18]
I do that regularly but it is really cool because it the trunk of the tree
[22:22]
looks like this old man in the tree it's really wild and they yeah it's
[22:27]
Grandview Park. But yeah something like that in a park with me. Yeah so Sonia with the fairy house
[22:34]
I do know a fairy not smart essentially he was he was at the our summer art art festival two years
[22:41]
ago. He was so popular and he's the nicest guy he just he just pulled back from doing festivals
[22:48]
because they were just too stressful for him, which I understand. But he, I mean, he's amazing.
[22:58]
And I guess the thing would be, if we did that, could we get them high enough so people wouldn't
[23:03]
steal them or whatever? Right, right.
[23:08]
But I mean, the snags are high, right? If you put them on
[23:13]
top of snags. I think it just depends. I think some of them are, some of them are lower.
[23:17]
Yeah, but that is true. I mean, I guess you do always have to worry about theft, but it's just it's like the idea of these little
[23:23]
various things, a lot of that.
[23:25]
I love that, doesn't it?
[23:26]
I think that's really sweet. I think that's great.
[23:31]
And a little more, you know, and it would naturally decay, it could naturally decay.
[23:37]
And you could secure them in there. I mean, you could nail them in.
[23:40]
Yeah, that's true.
[23:42]
It's true.
[23:43]
Yeah, that would be great.
[23:45]
Okay.
[23:47]
Do you want me to reach out to the fairies?
[23:51]
I'll let Ireland speak. It's kind of in your project, but you know.
[23:56]
Yeah, I think we just have to determine what we do at a brand new or if we move it into the park.
[24:02]
Well, let me reach out to him and see if he's interested in putting in a response.
[24:07]
Because there's a limit.
[24:08]
Then you tell me.
[24:10]
There's a really cool park. You can't move in every crossroads. It's over. I'll darn it. But it's a rather large park.
[24:19]
There's mainly park and we walk all through it. It would be really cool for that because it gets some of the sun in it.
[24:28]
And it would be really, that would be, it has a little bridge. You know, we go over a little lake and it would be really kind of cool.
[24:35]
That would be smart. I would think that would be really neat.
[24:39]
And I guess the other thing we would have to check on, though, is that May 1st expiration date.
[24:44]
Yeah, we'd have to restart the recruit.
[24:50]
And we'd want to change the language because right now it's only referring to SNACs and Psygram and Forest Park.
[24:55]
So, yeah, you'd have to just basically let me know what kind of art and what park and if you want specific themes,
[25:04]
then we want to include that in our request for proposals.
[25:12]
For initial funding and initial putting it out there, do you want to keep it Grandview
[25:18]
or do you want to add some park to it?
[25:21]
Don't have any SNAG artists that are coming forward.
[25:24]
If you wouldn't mind putting it in, but maybe we make it a grander park.
[25:32]
If a SNAG artist would go to Grandview, and the other artists would go to another
[25:37]
park.
[25:37]
Yeah, I don't mind putting it in the newsletter, but I will tell you with our constituency you're
[25:45]
not going to get any snags, so I would say that if you brawned it, like with mosaics
[25:58]
or, you know, houses or ideas for, you know, nature friendly installations that you would
[26:11]
potentially get some people that way.
[26:19]
So right now we say artistic carving and or embellishment of select three states.
[26:28]
Yeah.
[26:28]
Well, well, I think embellishments are rather blind time. Don't we need some suggestions and parentheses maybe, you know, or maybe examples of photos, photo examples of what's been done or something.
[26:44]
Well, if we're talking a fairy park, very dark park.
[26:50]
Oh, I'm sure that we could Google fairy garden park. Can we look?
[26:53]
Yeah, and I can look as well, first of these symbols too, and I'll send them all to you,
[27:03]
whatever I find, and then get some feedback.
[27:08]
Well, then it sounds like we want to somewhat
[27:12]
broaden this statement of artists meeting, and then, Caroline, if you want to put thought into
[27:21]
to what other park you might be thinking about.
[27:24]
Yeah, I'll find that report and I'll resend it to everyone.
[27:29]
That would be great.
[27:31]
And along with his address.
[27:34]
So I didn't want to, you know, see if it's true life.
[27:40]
I mean, you could do a whole thing around this, right?
[27:45]
Tie it with, depending on which park you did it,
[27:48]
you could tie it with chop the harbor.
[27:50]
right you know if you did the sound view part it'd be and then go visit the the ferry installations
[27:57]
yeah chopper right it's all walkable and right the city would love that i know right here
[28:06]
we go
[28:07]
can you even find key elements of a fairy garden bar
[28:12]
A.I. spit out.
[28:20]
This would be so sweet.
[28:22]
That's such a good idea.
[28:24]
It's really exciting.
[28:26]
Thank you.
[28:28]
Oh, yeah.
[28:29]
Yeah.
[28:29]
I mean, that is wonderful.
[28:36]
All right.
[28:36]
Well then, let's try it for next meeting.
[28:39]
Let's try to think about broadening that definition and then
[28:42]
pair with a few things about parks.
[28:45]
And
[28:49]
we can get that done at our next meeting.
[28:51]
Yeah, and now it's kind of the season to do it.
[28:57]
I know, we got to hurry up.
[29:02]
Chop the harbor in August 15.
[29:05]
I think it's at the end of summer.
[29:07]
Okay.
[29:08]
So it gives you some.
[29:09]
We might have time.
[29:11]
Okay.
[29:13]
Chop the harbor as well.
[29:15]
August 15th. What is it? Oh, it's drawing something. Oh, chalk. Yeah, I thought you said chalk.
[29:24]
We're going to look at you on the previous one.
[29:26]
Logging, logging events. That's very interesting.
[29:31]
Chalk is a harbor, I totally know it.
[29:37]
All right, that sounds good then. Neurogon Park and expand the definition for the next 10.
[29:43]
It's not on the agenda, but just to touch back on it for creative endeavor, France.
[29:50]
Any comments or things that you felt didn't go well or that you'd like to see change in the application for next year?
[30:03]
Let me just say, thank you for our work.
[30:06]
Just
[30:09]
to have to do with the application, but Tiffany gave us the charts of like 23, 24, 25, what had been given, who applied, and everything. If you could make one for 26, I think there was a very helpful message.
[30:29]
Yeah, absolutely. And then I'll probably, I'll do that as I'm doing the website when I have time to do the website.
[30:36]
I would really like to see us insist that people give us a full budget, like I was saying
[30:45]
at that last meeting, instead of just a little list of what they're planning to buy, because
[30:53]
it really makes a difference if they're going to be getting a lot of grants from other places
[30:58]
are flying then we would know really without that knowledge not that these
[31:05]
people are going to be doing something unethical but there is a potential they
[31:11]
could be receiving a lot of funding from a lot of different organizations that we
[31:15]
would never know what we're spending that money on ethical yeah but if we're
[31:20]
asking are you saying like doubling like take like doubling the grants so same
[31:24]
Yeah, like from setting the same documentation to to like multiple organizations who are okay. Yeah, just we need to say a budget includes all of your income potential income and all of your expenses.
[31:40]
So we can.
[31:42]
I'm not sure, I mean, you have to check with how, I mean, I'm not opposed to that, but
[31:48]
I'm just saying I think I would check how other organizations do it because as a non-profit
[31:56]
you might not have to do that or, you know, it all depends.
[32:00]
I used to do grants and development, so yeah, we used to do that for non-profits.
[32:07]
Yeah.
[32:07]
And what about since that these are small grants, is there an industry in small and
[32:10]
large?
[32:10]
I don't think that it's an issue to be asking if they're expecting to get a grant from somebody.
[32:21]
Don't we have a question?
[32:23]
Yeah, we have that on there.
[32:24]
But I don't know if it asks about how much or it just says, I think it just says,
[32:30]
You receive funding right?
[32:32]
Right, it's a pretty simple.
[32:35]
Yeah, it's not going very deep.
[32:36]
Excuse my ignorance.
[32:38]
Do we frown upon it? Do we only expect it? No, it's not at all. Oh, does it? Does it inform it? Yes, it's more information. More information.
[32:47]
I have to ask you, are you still writing grants?
[32:52]
No.
[32:55]
Nice. That is a smelly smell. It really is.
[32:59]
I'm looking for a grant writer.
[33:03]
I used to write them for the singing group that I'm in and to come up, but we would apply
[33:11]
for multiple grants.
[33:12]
I mean, they were very big, but we would apply for multiple and our budget was our budget
[33:18]
and if we got the grant that helped us meet the budget and if we didn't get it, we had
[33:23]
to.
[33:24]
No, there's no problem in getting tons of as much money as you would try for.
[33:32]
It's just the knowledge.
[33:33]
You just want to see those figures and you want to see where it's coming from or eventually
[33:37]
yeah I get that.
[33:38]
Are sponsorships different from grants?
[33:41]
Yes.
[33:42]
Yeah.
[33:42]
Okay.
[33:43]
So if you get a sponsorship from a business.
[33:46]
Typically there's nothing involved in that.
[33:48]
There's no springs or it's just right.
[33:51]
Right, it's like a, you know, well, you promise they're going, they're going, right, right.
[33:57]
Versus the grant where there's reporting involved.
[34:01]
Well, we had a couple of applications that didn't have much at all about what they were going to spend the money on.
[34:11]
It's kind of a broad category.
[34:13]
And I think that was $1,500 for supplies or something like that.
[34:17]
Yeah, and it's like what supplies or what, yeah.
[34:20]
I guess I don't mind a little bit more detail, but I feel like the grants aren't that big
[34:26]
and we're supporting local projects.
[34:29]
I guess I wouldn't want to be nickel and diming somebody on the money, and also that's not
[34:36]
our responsibility.
[34:37]
That goes to the city because the city is the one that handles the finance and not
[34:41]
us.
[34:42]
So if there were, I verify that they've used the funds correctly, not you.
[34:46]
Right. So we just make a suggestion that we'd like to see that get the money, but the city handles that
[34:54]
Actually, and if they don't meet that they won't get reinterested. But in their final report
[34:57]
Don't they have to have an accounting and patty stuff? Oh, oh, yeah, I haven't seen me ask you to. Yeah
[35:04]
Sorry, I've seen paid invoices. Yeah, I need proof that it was paying it
[35:07]
I need proof that it was spent that way. Yeah, that's someone who wrote that file
[35:12]
On vacation last year, because I didn't realize it was due, but it was due.
[35:18]
Yeah, it takes a while, but it does.
[35:21]
Yeah, the bigger projects like it, it's a lot of paperwork that comes through the door.
[35:26]
They get reversed for their time, though, also, right?
[35:28]
You can use, you can include, you know, volunteer losses as time for reimbursement, yeah.
[35:38]
Oh, I didn't know that.
[35:39]
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You just have to provide volunteer logs, something that shows. Yeah. Yeah. We're 100% volunteers. Yeah. That's probably really easy for you.
[36:03]
Yeah.
[36:03]
We're almost like to, not that everybody volunteers, but it's just hard to get people to log their hours. Yeah. Yeah. Which you're shaking your head. Yeah.
[36:14]
Well,
[36:18]
one thing we did talk about last month also was to try to get all of us individually to go to more of these activities that we're hoping to find.
[36:30]
Yeah, we're gonna have a list of dates that they have.
[36:35]
That's the website when I went BS.
[36:37]
That's my goal, is to get that on to the website.
[36:39]
We're just making more work for Tiffany.
[36:42]
Yeah, right?
[36:44]
It's on the list as well.
[36:46]
Well, what website are you talking about?
[36:48]
Your guys' website, the Arts Commission website
[36:50]
I was gonna put just kind of the grants that were...
[36:53]
I didn't even know we had the website.
[36:55]
We have a website.
[36:57]
That's how we all got contacted
[36:59]
did when all that stuff went down was our names were all on one website together, one
[37:03]
with age together. That's how we all were, yes. That's how they got our names. Let me
[37:12]
show you. It's on the city.
[37:16]
It's a page on the city's phone. You go, this is a, well
[37:21]
she's doing that. Did you, did everybody ask for a grant, get a grant on the street?
[37:27]
All but one, last one, who didn't get them around.
[37:33]
It was a high school kid who wanted to take elderly patients around to different arts.
[37:41]
It was only from a specific neighborhood.
[37:44]
And it wasn't brought in on.
[37:46]
It doesn't sound like a beginner project.
[37:48]
It was a buddy project with seniors.
[37:52]
years, you know, which we were all in favor of, and I think it sounds great, but I didn't
[37:57]
really see, we didn't see it as a creative endeavor.
[38:00]
You just went in for the senior ground, that's what I was suggesting, I think he did, he
[38:05]
went to Shea afterward.
[38:07]
But if you just go to their main webpage and hover over the government, and these are
[38:12]
all of the boards.
[38:13]
Oh my goodness.
[38:14]
Oh my goodness.
[38:15]
And that's where, sorry.
[38:18]
I did, I went off.
[38:23]
What did I sign up for exactly?
[38:26]
So down here is where I can get the names of the new commissions.
[38:31]
Down here is where I can put the, you know, the recipients of the 2026 grants.
[38:37]
Yeah, we were able to give most of the people that apply what they asked for just because
[38:45]
We didn't have, we had $35,000, which was $5,000 more than we've had in the past.
[38:53]
And it didn't, our applicants didn't exceed that by a whole lot.
[38:57]
So we looked at it and said, well, we might be able to give everybody today.
[39:01]
That's great. It's pretty, pretty good.
[39:03]
It was close.
[39:04]
Yeah.
[39:04]
It was really close.
[39:05]
It was like zero plus, but it was close.
[39:07]
And it was worth it.
[39:08]
We were you grant applications and the money is allocated by the city is or by you guys, we make a recommended allocation.
[39:20]
The budget is determined.
[39:23]
That's around March.
[39:26]
Okay.
[39:26]
That we have that meeting and all applications are in.
[39:30]
I see.
[39:31]
Yeah.
[39:31]
Yeah.
[39:32]
So yeah, this year when I signed up for, but here I had.
[39:34]
Yeah. So yeah, the city sets the budget and then you will make the recommendation within that budget.
[39:38]
It's probably the largest thing, right, that we do.
[39:43]
Yeah, so we have an orchestra concert at the end of May, but I'll be attending that one.
[39:49]
So there's one of our first, uh, first creative endeavor, right?
[39:56]
I think that was for last year's orchestra, I think, so that was coverage.
[40:02]
But I don't know.
[40:03]
I'll make her look back until we get started on the website.
[40:08]
And we'll invite you to the opening party for the National Fine Arts Show.
[40:12]
Yeah.
[40:13]
We would love that.
[40:15]
Yeah, because I know you've got the art show coming up this summer, and then there's the net shed.
[40:20]
They're going to do the...
[40:23]
That's right.
[40:24]
Oh, yeah.
[40:25]
That's right.
[40:28]
That's right.
[40:28]
That's right.
[40:29]
And then is there something this weekend up on the grass and maybe something?
[40:35]
That was last week.
[40:36]
That was last week.
[40:37]
Oh, this last week?
[40:38]
Yeah.
[40:38]
So, geez.
[40:40]
Okay.
[40:40]
Yeah, there was something.
[40:41]
There was an event.
[40:42]
I can't remember what it was for.
[40:44]
Somebody mentioned something.
[40:45]
Oh, I just thought that if the barbie bear or something.
[40:49]
It was for this week.
[40:51]
Yeah, it was like a craft bear.
[40:53]
Was it?
[40:59]
or the one from the previous.
[41:01]
Okay.
[41:02]
Was that for Bees Bagels?
[41:04]
No, that was for two weekends.
[41:06]
That was Mother's Day, that's about it.
[41:08]
No, it was number two.
[41:09]
Yeah.
[41:10]
It was called Farmer Favorites.
[41:11]
I don't know, but I have not just a fine word for it yet.
[41:14]
Yeah, I wasn't in town, so I didn't go to that.
[41:17]
Did anyone go to that mother's day?
[41:19]
So, there was.
[41:20]
It was over at Mother's Day weekend.
[41:23]
Oh, the Bees Bagels?
[41:24]
Yeah, Bagels.
[41:25]
I drove by.
[41:26]
And one of the artists of Powell was in there
[41:28]
and she did very well. She's reasonably priced, so she sold out Saturdays.
[41:33]
Oh, that's good. But I drove by, and it was about 10 tents.
[41:38]
Oh, okay. So not real big.
[41:41]
Not real big.
[41:41]
No, that's more than I thought.
[41:43]
Yeah, that's what I thought, too, which she sells.
[41:46]
She does miniature paintings, and she sells prints of them, so they're very affordable.
[41:52]
You know, she don't want like those six by six.
[41:57]
You know, she now like she frames them and stuff.
[42:01]
I mean, she's been in our show on the Peninsula Art League wall and her work always sells.
[42:06]
It's just there's something very charming about her work.
[42:10]
And so she did very well.
[42:13]
But then I think they were like, it looked like there were about 10 booze there.
[42:16]
And then the last one last weekend had about, I think, 25 foods and food trucks.
[42:30]
I think they had a little, the weather was kind of, it was always sort of like when you
[42:35]
do these outdoor things.
[42:36]
But I'm sure anything that's, you know, it's just as unlike any maid that I've
[42:44]
Yeah, it's like the one thing that totally stresses all of us out.
[42:48]
Well, not the one thing.
[42:52]
One of them.
[42:53]
One of them.
[42:58]
But they really did a nice job.
[43:02]
They had tables out, people sit and you say,
[43:06]
That wasn't on the list.
[43:08]
No, so who sponsored it?
[43:10]
No, I think you guys sponsored it.
[43:13]
We did the these bagels.
[43:15]
Well, the mother, they want that.
[43:17]
But I think that I don't think that.
[43:20]
Yeah, because we, because I remember discussing it because the one that has been there for the last two years, they weren't doing it.
[43:27]
She jumped in and this other person jumped in to replace that.
[43:32]
So we didn't realize that we thought these bagels was taking kind of taking that place.
[43:36]
Well, I think they both were kind of thinking somebody should jump in, and I mean, I don't know, but it just seemed like one weekend, I'm on the next.
[43:45]
Right, right. You think they could buy them what they'd like, right?
[43:51]
Interesting.
[43:53]
But we love these bagels because they're supporting us in the summer festival to help feed the artists.
[44:02]
Oh, that's nice. Yeah, so they're great.
[44:08]
That's such an interesting place.
[44:11]
When they're donating for the youth mental wellness summit, they're donating some.
[44:17]
They do a lot to support the community. Yeah, they do. And the farmers market starts this Thursday.
[44:22]
Yes, it's starting up, you know.
[44:27]
Well, another thing that I'd like to talk about on our next month or put it on our next agenda.
[44:35]
I
[44:37]
still, I would like to see, well, I guess I have two different places, two places.
[44:42]
One is signage and one is that talking about that love locks again because we've talked
[44:49]
about the city taking the locks off of the bridges because of the weight and all
[44:53]
kind of thing from the bridges and putting up some sort of like a wire kind of a sculptor.
[44:58]
Yeah, textures.
[45:00]
And Stephanie, our former commissioner, she had brought in some pictures and was all enthusiastic
[45:06]
about that. And I was saying, I'd like us to come up with either a letter or a proposal
[45:11]
or something to give to city council and say, we think it would be nice to do a love lock
[45:16]
sculpture and maybe have a plaque that has Stephanie and Joanne staying on it. Something
[45:21]
of, you know, and I know we named the creative endeavor grants after them, but I think it
[45:25]
because that's huge but just a nice plaque and they were both involved with
[45:29]
them. I think that would be nice but I'd like us to proactively say to city
[45:34]
council we think this would be a good idea. And then also that big art
[45:38]
installation that we talked about for the last two years you know the
[45:40]
medallions. So now it's in. So I walk by that the other day
[45:45]
there's no sign that says what the name of it is. There's nothing and it
[45:50]
would be nice to have something that says here's what it is and then to
[45:54]
have a QR code that says here are these different discs and it'd be nice to give
[46:00]
credit to the Arts Commission too you know where let's do that to show the
[46:06]
involvement of the Commission.
[46:09]
It's kind of like a rare if you're walking
[46:12]
Yeah, I don't even know what direction it is.
[46:14]
Yeah, it's that roundabout kind of thing over it.
[46:17]
Yeah, it spins in and there's a little bit of a drive.
[46:22]
But it's just you're walking down the sidewalk.
[46:25]
Yeah, and then it's there.
[46:26]
But there's no sign.
[46:28]
There's nothing.
[46:29]
It's just you kind of see it as you walk over it.
[46:33]
So is it in the, yeah.
[46:36]
So how to walk across the road to get to the middle
[46:41]
No, it's not about the sidewalk.
[46:45]
You walk right over it as you're just walking out of the sidewalk and voice along.
[46:50]
Oh, yeah.
[46:52]
Come on, guys.
[46:53]
I think it's longer.
[46:59]
Oh,
[47:02]
sorry.
[47:02]
What budget does the lock thing come from?
[47:07]
That's public works because that was their idea. They want to have something to put those lots up so that people don't think, you know, I love, you know, and I love it like we promote it, but just over here bridge.
[47:21]
So they made a presentation to us saying that they would like to do it.
[47:24]
It comes down to worker went to any further. Okay, that's even better.
[47:29]
budget and work plan so your request to council can be that they prioritize
[47:34]
that in the next work plan for public work. Okay. Did they get a proposal
[47:39]
where they wanted it located? They were talking about well they would they want
[47:44]
it where people are putting the locks and so the next one was like donkey
[47:48]
creek and there's that kind of that space where they could put it. They
[47:52]
also talked about the old ferry landing. Yeah, they don't pass there. But I think
[47:57]
they just whatever one seems to be attracting the most lots is where they want it. But it
[48:02]
and Donkey Creek seems like it would make some. Yeah. Yeah. Is there are there lots down in the
[48:07]
old period? I think a few. I think they keep cutting lots.
[48:15]
Yeah.
[48:18]
And every once in a while
[48:19]
there's some posts and somebody goes I can't believe they're cutting the lots off of the
[48:23]
Can we sign down there to say?
[48:26]
Don't put your lost picture down.
[48:28]
I mean, yeah.
[48:29]
If we have a place with us.
[48:31]
Yeah, once we get it.
[48:33]
But sort of off there.
[48:34]
Sure.
[48:36]
And when there, you said there were examples of other sculptures that have been done.
[48:39]
Yeah, Stephanie.
[48:40]
And I've got pictures of her.
[48:43]
One place, a big heart that was very nice.
[48:46]
And one was like a fish kind of a thing.
[48:49]
And yeah, there was some cool pictures.
[48:52]
I'm sure, I'm sure that I, well, I'm sure I still have that.
[48:56]
I wonder if you're my favorite.
[48:58]
And I found that I'm not seeing this right now.
[49:05]
Yeah, some of these.
[49:07]
Again, I think, did you do this with the snakes?
[49:09]
I have this.
[49:10]
Oh, yeah.
[49:11]
Yeah, I have your presentation on snakes.
[49:14]
Oh, there you go.
[49:15]
Yeah.
[49:22]
Which I thought you did a really nice job on.
[49:24]
Well,
[49:29]
I have the proposal, but I don't have the pictures.
[49:34]
Yeah, if you were.
[49:37]
That was, that was for review.
[49:39]
Oh, yeah, this was the two, she knocked Sam in.
[49:43]
Oh, for my part.
[49:46]
Oh, that's an incentive.
[49:52]
Well, I suppose they did my scales.
[49:54]
So, like,
[50:00]
it was a frame, like a wire framework.
[50:02]
And then, you know, just the open wires.
[50:04]
And then you put them together.
[50:05]
Yeah.
[50:06]
I heard of members.
[50:10]
This project started when I was in McKinney, Brooklyn.
[50:13]
I picked it off.
[50:15]
So this is what's there now already.
[50:17]
So this proposal for this.
[50:24]
So where is it?
[50:30]
I'm a little confused.
[50:33]
That's great.
[50:36]
Public works.
[50:37]
I'm for the same, I feel like it was two years ago.
[50:40]
Do you think it was two years ago?
[50:42]
Yeah, it was 2024.
[50:43]
It was two years ago.
[50:45]
Public Works, thank you to us.
[50:49]
That's great.
[50:50]
That's what they were thinking about.
[50:52]
That was cool.
[50:53]
Yeah.
[50:54]
That's great.
[50:55]
It almost looks like I'm on air.
[50:56]
It is.
[50:58]
Oh, I see because it goes.
[51:01]
Quite a popular thing to do.
[51:03]
Yeah.
[51:03]
Yeah.
[51:04]
Everybody.
[51:04]
Yeah, sure.
[51:05]
Lots of public.
[51:06]
Everybody.
[51:07]
Imagine a hair in Paris.
[51:09]
In the middle.
[51:10]
Yeah.
[51:10]
Everybody.
[51:10]
Sure.
[51:11]
Yeah.
[51:11]
Yeah.
[51:12]
There wouldn't be wires across there.
[51:14]
And then they'd hang.
[51:15]
Right.
[51:16]
That's really cool.
[51:17]
Yeah.
[51:18]
Somebody else.
[51:18]
I'm a little confused.
[51:19]
So where exactly is it?
[51:21]
They came to you.
[51:22]
This is.
[51:23]
Yes.
[51:23]
So two years old.
[51:24]
Right.
[51:24]
So it's two years old.
[51:25]
Public works was like, we think that, you know, we should do something.
[51:29]
we have some sort of a sculpture or something where people couldn't put their locks and we're like
[51:33]
what a great idea and we kind of got some pictures together but then it's never it's not on their
[51:39]
work plan if it's not on their work plan and it's not on their budget and it's not on the work plan
[51:42]
and that's that's where the hold up is right so would this be the work plan for 2027 yeah are
[51:49]
they planning that now it'd be next year's work plan but I just thought the fact that they
[51:53]
brought it up, not us. The fact that we have the two commissioners that were
[51:58]
interested in it, that could put a little push behind it and maybe have them
[52:03]
decide to prioritize it and get it done. So what's this? What's the step to
[52:09]
reinvigorate it? I think that that would be also along the lines of
[52:15]
suggesting to City Council doing a letter or a memorandum saying that we
[52:23]
recommended be put out there. Were they looking to our team to find an artist to
[52:29]
create a design or what not to make it? Are they just considering it? A lot of ideas.
[52:36]
Right. The first stop. Well I think what we've done what might be if I recall from
[52:43]
this might be a bid for you or on Sonia, but they come for different things like the sidewalk thing.
[52:52]
And I don't know if you were on council then when they first came for that one.
[52:57]
To us, I was on council.
[53:00]
You know, they do like the storm drains.
[53:03]
Yeah.
[53:03]
But then the actual getting it done is the part that doesn't seem to happen.
[53:08]
You know, where everyone's enthusiastic, but then it doesn't get the place that I'm trying to judge.
[53:14]
We would, the Arts Commission would do a call for artists for them once they had it on their work plan.
[53:20]
So that's what we did for the embedded sidewalk, some other projects, you know.
[53:29]
So if they, if they are budgeting now for 2027,
[53:35]
There are budgets that are going to be starting soon.
[53:40]
Okay, so if we –
[53:41]
Now it sounds like now you'd want to say, okay, here we want to do this.
[53:46]
We could get a – I mean, basically you just need to get a bit from somebody on what you think the project will cost.
[53:52]
And then ask them – then you need to say, yes, we have –
[53:57]
And do a call for artists. And here's our created schedule, right? And I'm just saying, because they would give you the budget, right?
[54:07]
But I think what we need to do, you know, get them to put it on their agenda. It's just, it's not on their radar right now. Yeah.
[54:15]
Yeah, that's why I would suggest either letter or memorandum to city council saying, we think this should be.
[54:23]
Does it go to city council or does it go to city council and?
[54:27]
Well, city council sets the work plans.
[54:29]
So you'd want the, yes, council sets work plans.
[54:33]
So I would write the letter to the council and ask them to prioritize that on the work
[54:39]
and the public works.
[54:40]
This would probably be something where you're coordinating also with the parks commission,
[54:43]
because it's going to go into a park.
[54:45]
So it might be some, there might be coordination between the commissions,
[54:48]
But I think a letter to the council asking them to prioritize an art project is a good
[54:57]
idea.
[54:57]
Because then it would get it on their radar because right now it's just something they
[55:01]
mentioned and, you know, they've got other things they're focused on.
[55:05]
In the letter, do we offer suggestions as to what our ideas are?
[55:12]
For instance, are we looking for a heart or are we looking, I mean, what are we
[55:16]
asking them to do the budget for it? Put it in the budget? I think we're
[55:23]
asking for them to put it on their work plan and then when they put it on the
[55:28]
plan and say we've got this much money then we could start talking about who
[55:32]
would do it and and what would the design be but for right now it's not
[55:36]
even a rate of fashion and I mean we can you guys can put together a
[55:40]
proposal or ideas but without knowing what the budget is what what
[55:45]
councilor with the city's willing to spend on it? Right. But I think it helps to give them an
[55:54]
idea of what it would cost. So I think, you know, we need to include that. Here's what it could look
[56:02]
like. People don't, they can't imagine. So you're going to put these pictures in.
[56:10]
And, but I think it would be helpful to say that this could be a $35,000 project, you know.
[56:18]
I mean, when you put a sculpture in, to a public park, it has a lot of things that have that.
[56:24]
So, but it would probably be helpful, don't you think, to give them, like, well, yes, $35,000.
[56:31]
I guess I, well, if it were me, I wouldn't be talking money.
[56:34]
Yeah, because we're good. It's not even approved. It's not even I would just say to them
[56:39]
We'd like to see you move forward with this and have them put it on their agenda. Then they say
[56:45]
It's 15,000 or whatever the whatever they put in that. Yeah, then we know
[56:49]
So what is that deadline for sending them something? What is the budget? Oh, well, yeah, that's that
[56:56]
I don't think I got it until next month. Yeah, you've got time. Yeah
[57:00]
Yeah, why don't I do a draft on the letter and then I'll just that he gives us an idea something and then we can all change it out.
[57:08]
Maybe you could send it around. Yeah.
[57:10]
Yeah.
[57:11]
Do a draft.
[57:13]
But I agree. We shouldn't have some sort of semblance of what.
[57:19]
Right.
[57:20]
We'll give you $5,000.
[57:23]
Exactly.
[57:23]
I think it's important to have a rough idea of what the cost would be because that will
[57:29]
help them decide whether or not they want to put it on the work plan and whether or not
[57:32]
they want to budget for it.
[57:35]
I know I've asked this before and I am so sorry, I don't remember the answer.
[57:41]
That teenager that they were going to create a sculpture, does anybody know if that ever
[57:48]
happened?
[57:51]
Yeah.
[57:53]
So we didn't give them anything.
[57:55]
Oh, no.
[57:56]
We just had to get it.
[57:57]
That was just your.
[57:59]
Okay.
[57:59]
Yeah.
[58:00]
I was just going to, I was trying to figure out some sort of budget that
[58:04]
we might have.
[58:04]
Okay.
[58:06]
And then I also would like us to put something to the city council
[58:11]
about that.
[58:12]
I think it should have some sort of signage.
[58:16]
or any QR code.
[58:19]
Yeah, that seems right.
[58:22]
But wouldn't it be cool if, again, if we
[58:25]
had all these different parts and everything had a QR code,
[58:29]
so you could go up to the website and you
[58:31]
could get there's an app or something.
[58:34]
So that's, oh, we're meeting this.
[58:35]
It could be Harvard for the weekend.
[58:36]
These are all the places we want to go.
[58:38]
We're going to the parts.
[58:39]
We're going to go to the local apps.
[58:41]
And wouldn't that be kind of cool?
[58:43]
It's a great idea.
[58:44]
Yeah, the problem is that you have to have websites that the QR code takes you to.
[58:48]
Yeah.
[58:48]
So someone's got to create that website, maintain that website.
[58:52]
It's just an app.
[58:54]
What kind of an app?
[58:55]
Like, you would use an app?
[58:58]
Well, we would create an app.
[58:59]
Oh, yeah.
[59:00]
No, that's way beyond this app.
[59:03]
Okay.
[59:03]
Capacity.
[59:05]
Okay.
[59:05]
Yeah.
[59:06]
Yeah, especially, you know, maybe get somebody to volunteer.
[59:10]
Yeah.
[59:11]
Go on.
[59:11]
Is there a parts page?
[59:16]
Well, yes.
[59:17]
But again, that was then, I mean, it can take you to a parts page, but that doesn't mean
[59:22]
that it's going to have all the information that you want about the, that's completely
[59:27]
different.
[59:28]
Now you're at, yeah, you're adding work to staff.
[59:30]
No, it's just probably not.
[59:32]
So even the QR codes we're talking about aren't going to happen.
[59:35]
It's got to take you to somewhere.
[59:37]
And so who's going to maintain that website and who's going to create that website
[59:40]
who's going to... So, the whole tiny sign sounds like... Yeah. I mean, I don't know
[59:49]
other cities that have that capacity. I don't know if they do. I've never, I
[59:53]
don't, I've never seen it.
[1:00:00]
They have a walking tour. And it's like our signage that we have along the harbor with the pictures and the old houses and stuff.
[1:00:07]
But they've got a QR code on each one of those and you can take the walking tour and just look at it on the phone.
[1:00:12]
And it's great. And I think it would be pretty easy.
[1:00:16]
Do they have a non-profit?
[1:00:20]
I'm not certain.
[1:00:21]
I don't know who does that. And I can take a look at that too.
[1:00:24]
Where was that?
[1:00:25]
It's great. It's endless.
[1:00:27]
Edmunds.
[1:00:27]
Kirkwood has one as well.
[1:00:29]
I think I'm not Bellevue.
[1:00:31]
But just every single sign, you know, the way we've got the signs already set up is that
[1:00:36]
QR code on it.
[1:00:37]
And then it's only four times.
[1:00:41]
And it takes you like a city of Edmunds page.
[1:00:46]
Yep.
[1:00:46]
And it's all the different sites that you're seeing.
[1:00:51]
Okay.
[1:00:53]
And you don't know what department that's connected to.
[1:00:55]
You know, I don't, but let me look into that. I wonder what that's, that's coordinated through. You know what I mean, right?
[1:01:02]
Yeah, yeah.
[1:01:04]
Or if it's staff or, you know, they might have a staff member who gets paid to do that kind of stuff.
[1:01:10]
Yeah.
[1:01:10]
You know, everybody set up differently.
[1:01:12]
So, I mean, you should, you know, in some places, too, they have a Department of Tourism, you know, like.
[1:01:17]
Yeah, I mean, they're, yeah, like, you know, well, that's most important for destination marketing.
[1:01:23]
the chamber, would the chamber be up for something like that?
[1:01:28]
Or is that more business related?
[1:01:30]
Maybe there's more business.
[1:01:32]
Well, they do, like for the last two years, they've done destination marketing.
[1:01:37]
So visit Gig Harbor, that's all them.
[1:01:40]
So, yeah.
[1:01:41]
So they mentioned destination marketing stuff, the tourism stuff.
[1:01:46]
So I don't know if that's something that they would...
[1:01:52]
All right. Well, we should ramp it up. So, all right. So I'm going to draft a letter city council for love locks. Talk about signage.
[1:02:02]
We want to expand the definition on the call for art. So, if anybody's got thoughts on that or wants to.
[1:02:10]
I can, I can, I can, I'll send the report that I wrote for the brand new park, but I'll, I can again put a draft together and
[1:02:19]
I'll talk about our, it's okay.
[1:02:20]
And then if you want to narrow it down, you do want to think about another park or installation.
[1:02:26]
Well, what I'd love is if some of you could visit the parks on that.
[1:02:33]
Well, so we know what we're talking about, you know.
[1:02:35]
And I'll, I can't remember on my report if it had actual addresses or not, but I'll
[1:02:42]
check it and not have those.
[1:02:43]
And then Tiffany, you're going to try to get the Creative Endeavor recipients their
[1:02:49]
updates.
[1:02:50]
Yep.
[1:02:51]
And then next meeting, too, we can talk about just to kind of make sure that we've
[1:02:55]
got events covered if people want to try to go to them.
[1:02:58]
Okay.
[1:02:58]
Yeah.
[1:03:00]
Cover those so that we have a presence and can check out all of those things that
[1:03:04]
we helped to fund.
[1:03:04]
I'm kind of nice to be able to speak intelligent with him, but I don't know if everybody would tell me your name one more time.
[1:03:14]
Laura.
[1:03:16]
Sonia.
[1:03:17]
Sonia.
[1:03:17]
Deborah.
[1:03:18]
Deborah.
[1:03:18]
Suzanne.
[1:03:20]
Carol.
[1:03:20]
Carol.
[1:03:21]
Robin.
[1:03:22]
I doubt.
[1:03:24]
Tiffany.
[1:03:24]
Sonia.
[1:03:25]
Tiffany.
[1:03:26]
I know.
[1:03:27]
Sonia and Deborah.
[1:03:30]
Suzanne.
[1:03:31]
Suzanne.
[1:03:32]
Carol.
[1:03:32]
Okay. Thank you.
[1:03:35]
It'll take a little while.
[1:03:37]
You know, I can memorize 30 kids' names in like two seconds.
[1:03:43]
Do you want to do an extra?
[1:03:45]
No, I haven't.
[1:03:46]
I did it for a while for a little bit.
[1:03:48]
I had an acting school in Los Angeles for 45 years.
[1:03:52]
I ran for professional young actors.
[1:03:56]
And I was talent manager also.
[1:03:58]
Oh, wow.
[1:03:59]
So I grew up in the entertainment
[1:04:02]
industries. Performing arts is one.
[1:04:06]
You and me both.
[1:04:07]
I love performing arts.
[1:04:13]
That's great.
[1:04:14]
That's your bathroom.
[1:04:16]
Oh, my bathroom is all performing arts.
[1:04:18]
I don't know anything about art.
[1:04:22]
My reason for joining this was
[1:04:26]
was because I was going to get a little promulgable or even kind of, you know, community...
[1:04:32]
We don't have a promulgable or anything.
[1:04:35]
My husband has a good city.
[1:04:37]
Oh, I know.
[1:04:40]
I'm trying to, you know, I'm so a bit ready.
[1:04:44]
We've worked much for an art channel, so you remind me of who's come to work.
[1:04:48]
Oh, well, I see that.
[1:04:49]
Nora is her name.
[1:04:50]
Well, it's Nora.
[1:04:51]
Oh, Nora.
[1:04:51]
Yeah.
[1:04:52]
But just remind me, they have to have their way, they're making some of things, and this is trying to find the hierarchy.
[1:05:01]
I mean, you said?
[1:05:03]
You said.
[1:05:04]
Oh my God.
[1:05:06]
All right.
