[0:06] Okay. So, we're gonna stop that.
[0:14] You ready for us? Ready?
[0:17] So, we have somebody that's on the
[0:21] commission
[0:22] uh that's teleconferencing in Jane
[0:25] Cohen. And so what we want need to do is
[0:29] confirm that the teleconference location
[0:32] was proper properly noticed according to
[0:35] state law and J answer.
[0:43] Okay. Was that a shaking of the head?
[0:47] Yes. Okay. I saw that. And is the
[0:49] teleconference location accessible to
[0:51] members of the public?
[0:58] Is she chatting? Yeah, I don't know if
[1:00] she can. Can you hear me, Jane? Hey,
[1:03] Jane. Can you hear us?
[1:08] I don't think it would be open.
[1:13] Jane, can you hear us? I can hear you,
[1:16] but can you hear me? Yes, you can. Okay,
[1:21] so you answered the first question.
[1:24] Hello. Teleconference locations properly
[1:27] noticed according to state law. Yes or
[1:31] no? Can you answer that,
[1:39] Jane? So, Jane, I'm going to ask you
[1:41] three questions. I need you to
[1:44] respond. Do you understand?
[1:47] Can you speak louder, please?
[1:51] All right. All right. All
[1:54] right.
[1:56] questions which I need your responses
[2:00] to the conference
[2:04] [Music]
[2:16] location listening and join on this
[2:20] conference call. Yes or no?
[2:26] Can you can you hear her, Jane? No.
[2:28] Can't hear her. Can you use a
[2:30] microphone? I am using a microphone. Can
[2:33] you turn your Can you turn your computer
[2:35] up, please?
[2:37] What's I think it might be Jane's audio
[2:40] because I can hear you.
[2:43] Yeah, I think my audio. You can hear me
[2:45] though when I speak, right? Yes,
[2:48] I think that's Try the first question
[2:51] again.
[2:53] Was the teleconference location properly
[2:56] noticed according to state law?
[3:01] I can't hear it.
[3:04] It's because reflections. You might want
[3:06] to talk
[3:07] about email questions to Jane or we can
[3:10] hold them up or maybe if I if I read
[3:14] them maybe she can hear me. I don't
[3:15] know. I think it's a different kind of
[3:18] frequency voice. Okay. It's these ones,
[3:21] right? Yeah. Okay.
[3:23] Jane, I'm gonna try on this side.
[3:26] Thank you.
[3:28] Okay. Okay, Jane, can you hear me? Yes,
[3:31] I can. Okay, I'm going to use my summer
[3:34] camp voice. Um, was the teleconference
[3:38] location properly noticed according to
[3:40] state law? Yes, it was. Okay. Is the
[3:45] teleconference location accessible to
[3:47] members of the public? Yes. Okay. Is
[3:52] there anyone present in the
[3:54] teleconference location besides the
[3:56] commission member?
[3:58] Just just a brown hairy thing with four
[4:00] legs. Otherwise, no.
[4:04] Okay. I I think I think Jane has
[4:07] answered those questions. Thank you for
[4:10] doing that.
[4:13] Thank you, Jane.
[4:15] So, uh we are open for public comment
[4:18] and we have two
[4:21] residents that would like to
[4:24] speak and I think these are items that
[4:28] are not on the agenda. Um, first one I
[4:31] have from Art Whipple of Miselia Hills.
[4:39] Do I have the microphone or
[4:43] you forgot? Did you do Paul again? I
[4:45] think we need to do both. We need to we
[4:47] need to call the meeting to order and
[4:49] establish a non do the pledge of
[4:51] allegiance then we'll do the public.
[4:54] Okay. I was sorry about that. That is
[4:56] okay. All right. I call the meeting to
[4:57] order if you don't mind waiting here for
[4:59] just a minute.
[5:02] Um can you establish forum for? Yes I
[5:07] can. So Commissioner Besi here.
[5:11] Okay. Commissioner Gallagher Thompson
[5:15] here.
[5:16] Okay. Um, Commissioner Trapno here.
[5:20] Okay. Uh, Chair
[5:24] Cohen. Chair Cohen here.
[5:28] Perfect. Commissioner Huckaltz here. All
[5:32] right. Uh, Vice Chair Olsson here.
[5:37] And Commissioner Dixit. Yes. Okay.
[5:42] We have a form. Wonderful. and stand for
[5:44] the pledge of allegiance. You know what?
[5:46] Just one quick thing before we do the
[5:47] pledge of allegiance regarding forum. We
[5:50] just want to make sure during this
[5:52] meeting that we are timely and also if
[5:56] people
[5:57] leave on the commission before it's over
[6:01] and then we have less than um the
[6:04] members here to vote then we then the
[6:06] meeting needs to end. So just just
[6:08] wanted to mention that. Um, and without
[6:12] further ado, we can do the pledge of
[6:14] allegiance.
[6:20] I pledge algiance to the flag of the
[6:24] United States of America and to the
[6:27] republic for which it stands, one nation
[6:30] under God, indivisible, with liberty and
[6:34] justice for all.
[6:38] Everybody, we do have five items that we
[6:40] do want to vote on today. So, we want to
[6:42] make sure we can be timely and pay
[6:44] attention here for all the discussion.
[6:48] So, thank you all for your attention.
[6:57] Thank you for letting me speak today. I
[7:00] have a couple of quick items. Mostly
[7:02] what I'm trying to do is to make sure
[7:03] that resilient myself and who spends a
[7:05] lot of time figuring out how to take
[7:06] care of seniors coordinates with you so
[7:08] that you're not surprised by anything
[7:10] we're doing tell us to stop if we're
[7:13] doing something you don't like. Um item
[7:15] number one uh at Tuesday last Tuesday's
[7:18] special uh the study session uh at one
[7:22] point uh council member Flighter uh
[7:25] proposed that city staff set up a budget
[7:26] for 500 emergency kits. Um Mr. England,
[7:31] city manager said that that part was the
[7:33] word of Los Alto. We're selling Los
[7:35] Altos uh and we're working with the city
[7:37] and we are already supporting seniors.
[7:39] So, one of the things I wanted to know
[7:41] is do we know where this request come
[7:43] from? Did it come from the senior
[7:45] commission by any chance?
[7:48] Okay. All right. So, I will work with uh
[7:50] with Nissan. Um we did start uh this is
[7:54] part of the things that we're doing. We
[7:55] did start working with this year's
[7:57] commission uh uh compassion week
[8:00] activity. So we will be doing that in in
[8:02] October uh which mostly the part that we
[8:04] do supports seniors uh in Los Altos with
[8:08] emergency supplies done for the last two
[8:10] years. Uh second uh one of the things
[8:13] you need to realize is that in the event
[8:15] of a significant emergency the the city
[8:18] uh one of their planning assumptions for
[8:19] their emergency activities is that they
[8:21] will not be able to support uh citizens
[8:23] of the of the city for up to five up to
[8:26] seven days after a a significant
[8:28] emergency occurred. So what's going to
[8:30] support seniors in this period called
[8:33] VOADS volunteer organizations active in
[8:36] disasters. Brazilian Los Altos is a VOAD
[8:39] active in Los Altos. Uh there are
[8:42] several dozen uh VOADS active in Santa
[8:46] Clara County. Um the one that is the
[8:49] overarching boad for this uh is the is
[8:54] Cadre which stands for collaborating
[8:56] agencies disaster relief effort in in
[8:58] Silicon Valley. Uh they're the official
[9:01] Santa Clair County OAD. Uh for many
[9:04] years the Santa Clair County Office of
[9:06] Emergency Services uh had funded Cadre
[9:10] uh and this year and next apparently
[9:13] funding is no longer coming from FEMA so
[9:15] that's not going to happen. So what
[9:17] Kadri was able to do was to get in a a
[9:21] grant from Americanore
[9:24] um which uh in order to to fulfill all
[9:27] the things for Americanore she needs
[9:30] 1,000 volunteers to spend it who are
[9:34] over 55 years old who are willing to
[9:37] spend at least an hour doing some
[9:40] volunteer effort to uh make this go
[9:42] forward. So, this is an opportunity for
[9:45] volunteers to be engaged in doing things
[9:47] that will support uh Santa Clair
[9:50] County's uh emergency response because
[9:53] Los Altos is not unusual. Mountain View
[9:55] and PaloAlto all have the same idea that
[9:57] we our six policemen and our six firemen
[10:01] are not going to be able to take care of
[10:02] 30,000 people. Right? So, I'd like to
[10:05] engage with you at some point figure out
[10:06] how to get to the extent that you're
[10:09] talking to seniors. We want to get them
[10:11] to sign up to be spend at least an hour
[10:14] doing uh helping evacuate people or
[10:17] working uh in translation services or
[10:21] going to a trail or pretty much anything
[10:23] like that that we can do. So we'd like
[10:25] to find a way to coordinate with with
[10:27] Kaiser with the commission since you
[10:30] seem to have an access to a lot of
[10:31] senior folks. Real quick third item. Uh
[10:35] we're going to be doing an outreach
[10:36] program this year. we had a a a team
[10:40] that is going to be going doortodoor to
[10:42] seniors um and talking about how to get
[10:46] prepared. So, this is an outreach
[10:48] problem program uh that we're trying for
[10:50] the first time this year. Maybe we can
[10:52] expand it dramatically in the future.
[10:54] One of the things we're going to try and
[10:55] do is to work with the city so that we
[10:57] have some sort of a badge that this kid
[10:59] can carry so he doesn't look like he's
[11:01] somebody just trying to scan the uh scam
[11:03] the old people. Uh and then just one
[11:06] line it one last item uh we are uh
[11:10] presenting at the senior lunch uh which
[11:13] happens on September 10th uh the day
[11:15] after the health fair. So hopefully
[11:18] we'll be engaged in both of those. The
[11:20] giveaways that we're going to be doing
[11:21] is uh this is at least one of those
[11:24] items. You can just take care of look
[11:25] this is what we're doing for uh getting
[11:28] to plan for uh seniors. Okay, that's all
[11:31] I have. Any questions? Yes.
[11:34] Where did you get the list of
[11:38] seniors that you could visit their
[11:40] homes?
[11:42] So, so we don't have that list. We have
[11:44] the voter rules and we have that sort of
[11:45] stuff, but we're basically going to be
[11:47] walking doortodoor
[11:49] uh to talk to people and say if they
[11:51] want to see us, they can obviously say
[11:53] go away, but we hope they'll engage long
[11:55] enough to to say, well, are you signed
[11:57] up for Alert SEC? And do you know
[12:00] Genesis? Do you know how to get out of
[12:01] your neighborhood uh if you need to?
[12:05] So you would be at doors of people who
[12:07] are less than senior. Yes. We're going
[12:11] to go through the community and uh but
[12:13] focusing hopefully on particularly on
[12:15] the ones that are uh need more support.
[12:18] You know the well even the 55 year olds
[12:21] can probably get out of there. It's the
[12:23] ones that are older than that that we're
[12:24] really going to be interested in.
[12:28] I have perhaps a redundant question.
[12:30] Have you engaged with the ser group as
[12:33] it volunteers to do this some of this
[12:35] work that you described with with the
[12:37] church group
[12:40] ser yes yes we are the the loss all are
[12:44] part of resilient loans yeah about 125
[12:48] of us are beautiful yes um you were
[12:52] looking for volunteers senior volunteers
[12:55] yes
[12:57] what kind of training will they get uh
[13:00] probably they're going to walk in with
[13:02] the training that we want. Uh so it's
[13:05] not so much training the volunteers as
[13:07] having them be volunteers. So uh we're
[13:09] going to be having them working in in
[13:12] compassion week for example putting
[13:14] together uh hygiene kits and emergency
[13:17] kits for seniors as an example. So to
[13:20] the extent they spend an hour working on
[13:22] that they would we have emergency
[13:25] documents that are in uh different
[13:27] language or they're mostly all in
[13:29] English and we need to get them into the
[13:31] threshold languages of Spanish Tagalog
[13:36] uh Japanese Vietnamese and there are
[13:39] five languages that really Santa Clara
[13:41] County should be
[13:44] you wouldn't be having this kind of an
[13:46] assembly here then I can get volunteers
[13:50] Uh well I don't want so we're planning
[13:52] at this point. We don't have any
[13:54] specific things. I know there's going to
[13:55] be a bunch of activities going on in uh
[13:59] when the passion week goes on which is
[14:02] uh October 4th through 12th. Thank you.
[14:06] very much. Thank you.
[14:08] Appreciate you coming in updating us. Do
[14:12] we have his number? Yes. We have it on
[14:14] the I want to say there's three
[14:17] anticipating you participating in Yes.
[14:21] Thank you. Thank you.
[14:27] So we
[14:32] have Kathleen Parker.
[14:37] Yeah.
[14:40] Yeah.
[14:43] Thank you. Please do clarify your phone.
[14:45] Sure. Not super great looking, but I'll
[14:48] try.
[14:49] Okay. My name is Kathleen. Is that
[14:51] right? My name is Kathleen Harter and
[14:54] I'm the outreach coordinator for
[14:55] Friendly Voices. We are a local
[14:58] nonprofit out of Melo Park that is
[15:01] combating loneliness and seniors. Our
[15:05] founder Doris Stur started the um
[15:08] foundation in for the nonprofit in 2020
[15:12] after the pandemic. And what we do is
[15:16] pretty simple. Well, seems simple, but
[15:18] it does take a lot of compassion and
[15:20] friendship is we create one- on-one
[15:25] calls every week with seniors who might
[15:28] be feeling lonely and isolated. Um, our
[15:32] volunteers, we have over 90 volunteers
[15:35] in 23 and 24. We made over 5,000 calls,
[15:39] our reach calls. Our calls are set up
[15:42] every week um at a mutual time. The
[15:46] volunteers are HIPPA compliant. their
[15:48] background check and they go through
[15:50] about a threeh hour training with Laura
[15:54] um what compassionate listening um what
[15:57] to listen for if there's crisis um and
[16:01] so on. So we were awarded a grant from
[16:03] the Elino Healthcare District and we're
[16:07] combating this loneliness primarily in
[16:09] Sunnyville Mountain View Los and other
[16:14] surrounding areas. So we're working with
[16:16] Stanford Hospital with their
[16:18] transitional care teams and um the
[16:21] psychiatric team their geriatric
[16:23] psychiatric team
[16:25] there's met before um we're working with
[16:29] hospitals set hospital
[16:32] um one so and then local nursing homes
[16:37] um community centers drives you know
[16:40] dishes etc.
[16:45] I mean, that's what we're doing and I'm
[16:47] looking forward to partnering with the
[16:49] town and seeing how we can go with it.
[16:53] Um, we need to talk. I'm William
[16:56] Buckles. I'm a position. Uhhuh.
[17:00] Um, I have some
[17:03] um offers to you to speak at
[17:07] and would like to work with you. That
[17:09] would be wonderful. But there's a 30%
[17:12] increased mortality. Yes. Yeah. I mean
[17:16] loneliness affects seniors well actually
[17:19] just people in so many different way
[17:22] because you know
[17:25] depression recali rates go up and so on.
[17:28] So and it and we're different. We're not
[17:30] a wellness check like
[17:32] um we don't call in and we don't call um
[17:36] our senior guard our buddies and make
[17:38] sure that they've taken their medicines
[17:41] or things like that. It's you know if
[17:43] it's just strictly about companionship
[17:46] and friendship and um most of our
[17:50] seniors have been with us over some of
[17:52] them have been with us almost five years
[17:54] since we founded and stuff.
[17:58] This another perhaps
[18:00] trivial question. Do you curate any
[18:03] solution for the seniors that might need
[18:05] it? Do we create solutions? Curate or
[18:08] facilitate?
[18:10] I like if they need help like with a
[18:14] service or provider or some other form
[18:18] that do they come to you with you as a
[18:20] part of it evolving their loneliness and
[18:23] problems. Do they do they ask for help?
[18:26] Yeah, some of them some of them would
[18:28] well a lot of our um referrals come from
[18:31] the hospitals and care teams and we
[18:33] worked a lot with the case managers and
[18:36] social workers on like if um you know we
[18:39] have a from somebody like our volunteer
[18:42] place a couple calls and we haven't
[18:43] heard back and so we have kind of a
[18:46] partner in the healthcare industry that
[18:49] we work with to help do that. But yeah,
[18:52] we we're not we don't like to do
[18:56] referrals of like this would be your
[18:59] best bet here or that because we don't
[19:01] have enough experience with that and
[19:03] we're we're we're primarily just trying
[19:06] to build friendships and stuff but we
[19:08] will we won't leave them. We'll
[19:10] definitely
[19:11] help. There we go. Thank you very much.
[19:14] You're
[19:16] welcome. So that's wonderful.
[19:19] Thank
[19:24] you. I love having
[19:32] Thank you very much
[19:34] to our residents that came in and
[19:37] participated. We appreciate that. Um,
[19:40] now we
[19:42] will go to our items of um, minutes for
[19:47] approval for
[19:49] our April
[19:52] meeting. So, everybody's had a chance to
[19:55] review those minutes. Anybody care
[19:58] to make a motion for approval of the
[20:02] minutes or changes?
[20:07] Approval.
[20:08] Okay. Second.
[20:11] Yeah. All right. Any uh anybody opposed?
[20:15] We'll think about anybody.
[20:18] Okay. Thank you very much. So, we have
[20:22] one sing
[20:24] and then you have five approved four
[20:29] minutes to pass. Yes. Yes. Very good.
[20:33] Thank you. So now let's move on to our
[20:35] next which is the senior health fair and
[20:39] we move to the staff recommendations. We
[20:42] have five items which we're going to be
[20:43] voting on here tonight and let's the
[20:48] first one is to finalize the event title
[20:52] so that way we can move forward with all
[20:53] the marketing and promotion of this
[20:58] album.
[20:59] Um I would say does anybody have any
[21:03] comments recommendation? Yes.
[21:07] So um so I attended the health fair that
[21:09] was held in Certino uh in in May and it
[21:13] was called live well age well and it was
[21:16] really it was terrific. It was an
[21:19] outstanding experience and I thought it
[21:21] was a great title live well age well. I
[21:24] don't know if we can use the same title
[21:26] or the variation, you know, slight
[21:28] variation on it, but it certainly
[21:31] captured what I think ours what we hope
[21:34] to accomplish. And I don't see why we
[21:38] couldn't use it, you know, they haven't
[21:39] copyrighted it or anything. And uh what
[21:43] I loved about
[21:44] it, besides the title, uh was that they
[21:48] had the whole program on the back. So on
[21:51] the when you came in the door, you got
[21:53] the flyer which had the, you know, the
[21:56] basic information but in pro the child
[21:59] program. So you didn't have to go, you
[22:01] know, fiddling around or looking on your
[22:03] phone or finding little slips of paper
[22:05] or you should be here or there. It was
[22:07] all in one. And I
[22:09] thought about it that would be a a
[22:12] thought for the marketing pairs to to
[22:16] consider doing something similar. So
[22:19] that's my vote. live well age. Thank
[22:22] you.
[22:25] Any Dr.
[22:29] Thank
[22:31] you. Um I'm uh thinking about a
[22:37] longterm goal of optimal health
[22:44] uh that
[22:45] the rec department would want to
[22:49] promote. And I wonder if that was
[22:54] I wonder if that is a type of um
[22:58] endeavor that the health fair by
[23:02] whatever name chosen
[23:05] uh would be an initial initial part.
[23:09] So I I would like the name for the
[23:14] upcoming fair
[23:16] uh to be in the context of ongoing um
[23:21] presentations to the
[23:23] community. They would be related to um
[23:27] health.
[23:34] Um I don't have any other specific
[23:38] recommendations other than promoting
[23:41] optimal health span which is not going
[23:45] to be part of the title for the event.
[23:52] Thank you very much. I agree. I think
[23:55] the idea of you know a long lifespan has
[23:58] sort of been replaced by the idea living
[24:01] long isn't the objective it's living
[24:04] healthy and long so that your idea has
[24:12] widle maybe helping lip span as opposed
[24:16] to just
[24:22] helping I That's all I'm happy with
[24:25] whatever you choose. So it sounds like
[24:28] Dr. vocals. You're talking
[24:30] about a continuation of what the senior
[24:35] commission might offer through different
[24:37] speakers or different activities
[24:40] throughout the year which would cover
[24:42] the optimum health span and
[24:46] longevity rather than having it be for
[24:49] this particular
[24:52] goal. um that health span idea optimal
[24:57] health span
[25:02] um exhibition
[25:05] or program I don't have any catchy title
[25:11] for it
[25:13] expo idea I had another thought and that
[25:17] is it's never too late to feel great
[25:20] that's kind of a catchy one you have the
[25:23] subtitle has to
[25:26] be the subtitle live well age well live well into your hundreds or
[25:33] something like that you know the
[25:34] longevity so some so I kind of like that
[25:37] one occurred to me um the only uh the
[25:41] only input I had about using the same
[25:44] title was that we are trying to
[25:47] establish our identity here and if we
[25:51] start with a title that we can continue
[25:53] to use each year. Then we'll have some
[25:57] repeated um you know people who will
[26:00] attend or we'll have some kind of a
[26:02] repeated understanding of what our ideas
[26:05] are or what our commission is trying to
[26:07] do for senior health. So not the same
[26:11] title as somebody else but our own. It
[26:14] could be similar. I like
[26:17] optimum healthy lifespan. Optimal
[26:20] healthy lifespan.
[26:24] I don't know what that means.
[26:26] [Music]
[26:33] Optimel three minutes to finish this
[26:35] title.
[26:37] Can I make a suggestion? Just because
[26:40] when this flyer gets created, we're
[26:42] going to get lots of calls, right? So,
[26:45] we want to we want something that is
[26:47] going to be easy to understand just what
[26:51] is it? And so, if you have something
[26:53] that, you know, we had an open house,
[26:56] it's just something because then it's
[26:58] also easy for the folks at the front to
[27:02] help promote. I think these are great
[27:04] but just think of it in the marketing.
[27:06] Good point. Very good point. So, so far
[27:09] the one I like is healthy
[27:12] lifespan, but there was another one
[27:14] optimal healthy lifespan.
[27:17] Yeah, you optimal health optimal health
[27:24] span. And
[27:27] that's going to require too many. What
[27:30] the hell are you talking about?
[27:33] So
[27:36] long I don't want to say any
[27:40] the book that I wrote was live longer
[27:44] live larger but um live longer live
[27:49] health there's drugs to help
[27:56] this was not advocate Yeah.
[28:05] Something like this is very very
[28:07] personal. Some what what is a a
[28:09] wonderful name for to someone to one of
[28:12] us perhaps not for the other. My sense
[28:14] is that this particular man has been
[28:17] essentially tried and true as guilty as
[28:20] I am. So my sense is why not that I have
[28:23] no problem being a a copycat. Yeah. Not
[28:27] much as long as it really conveys the
[28:30] meaning that we're trying to do. In
[28:32] fact, I I do agree with the big deal
[28:35] here that I think what we want to do is
[28:37] you know somewhat imply a uh a sustained
[28:41] effort on our part.
[28:45] Excuse me. Can I can I
[28:52] Okay. But anyway, so my my sense is that
[28:55] I think for lack of better option for
[28:58] that better suggestion, I would be
[29:00] entirely content to go with as well.
[29:04] Which is which one you're pointing to?
[29:07] The one age well. Yeah. Jane, do you
[29:10] have any comments or
[29:12] suggestions? Okay. So, I guess having a
[29:16] general overview such as something
[29:18] that's already worked, it covers those
[29:22] that might be 50 all the way to 90. Um,
[29:26] and it isn't just specific and we can in
[29:32] the marketing we can also add in titles
[29:35] such as optimum health span and
[29:38] longevity. Doesn't have to be the
[29:40] overall purchase title would be my
[29:42] thought. So they you can also add in
[29:44] it's never too great but that's that can
[29:48] be under what we're really trying to do
[29:51] and as we had mentioned the last at our
[29:55] last meeting we're
[29:57] covering seven different topics of
[30:00] trying to demention nutrition exercise
[30:03] sleep socialization caregiving and
[30:05] public safety so
[30:07] to cover all of that well I think really
[30:13] is general enough we cannot cover it.
[30:15] Okay. Live well, age well. How many
[30:17] want? Wait, wait. Can I please?
[30:22] Are there any other comments? I I have
[30:25] going off the live well, age well. We
[30:28] could say live healthy, age healthy, and
[30:32] bring in the health more than than was
[30:35] true so far.
[30:39] So we're not exactly copying. We're
[30:42] liberating.
[30:46] We could add the
[30:49] loss out way.
[30:52] No, but you have to have those skills as
[30:55] well. Okay. Well, I think what you could
[30:58] do is have a subtext that essentially
[31:01] covers your locality.
[31:03] doesn't have to be the product. It could
[31:05] be a subject that somebody can can pick
[31:08] up the employer can see it as a top
[31:10] subject is a space.
[31:16] Do you have any comments? I
[31:20] like it. Well, I think liberal age
[31:24] health expo would be my my vote because
[31:26] it tells exactly what it is. It's you
[31:30] know it's an expo you know there with
[31:33] You also have vendors and so you have
[31:35] that already knowledge once we get that.
[31:40] Let's move.
[31:42] Any other comments? Jane.
[31:46] Okay. Very good. Are we
[31:48] ready? Let's make a motion to vote on
[31:51] the title a health exp. I move for the
[31:55] vote.
[31:57] Okay.
[31:58] I second.
[32:00] All right. All those raise your hand for
[32:05] the title.
[32:07] Yes.
[32:09] Any
[32:11] oppose? No opposition. All right.
[32:16] What is our title? Liberal age well
[32:18] health expo
[32:21] maybe something about
[32:24] that can be in the small small something
[32:26] right. The only thing I would say
[32:29] without any city name is we want people
[32:32] from other cities to come not just from
[32:35] the salt or the
[32:38] hill or we want
[32:41] [Music]
[32:43] San that's all part of markets and
[32:46] getting the word out and I think that
[32:49] social media social media our contacts
[32:52] you don't want it to think oh you have
[32:54] to go to those cities um Yes. Okay.
[32:58] How about sponsored by the city of
[33:03] city?
[33:05] [Music]
[33:06] That can easily be put in the marketing
[33:08] journal. Yes. But having the title that
[33:10] we can put across for which is the segue
[33:13] to item number two of the marketing
[33:16] banner
[33:17] location which we have two choices.
[33:20] suggestion would be the San Antonio El
[33:23] Camino by Chef Choose up there or Long
[33:26] Lincoln
[33:27] Park. Open that up for discussion.
[33:31] Can you please say that again? Sure. San
[33:34] Antonio El Camino. We have a so the city
[33:38] would be providing and printing up a
[33:41] banner which would go across the street
[33:43] and the locations two locations that
[33:46] would best reach those
[33:51] commuters two choices would be Lincoln
[33:54] Park which it
[33:56] is near what is Main Street and uh
[34:00] Foothill and so you're going north or
[34:04] south you can see it or you have it at
[34:07] El Camino and San Antonio which is near
[34:11] chef shoes and it's going across San
[34:14] Antonio. So that way you're also getting
[34:17] going south and those folks going.
[34:21] We can only do one. All right. For
[34:24] comments, please. We'll take five
[34:25] minutes on. Yeah. My original I made
[34:28] that suggestion that we have it across
[34:30] main street because that very visible to
[34:34] Los Altos, but it's already taken from
[34:37] that date. So we can get either the
[34:40] Foothill Expressway, you know that big
[34:43] long fence that's Lincoln Park on
[34:46] Lincoln Park. It would be along that,
[34:48] right? Or it would be I guess across San
[34:51] Antonio.
[34:53] So the San Antonio one gets more
[34:55] traffic. It's on the corner in front of
[34:58] like above chip shoes doesn't literally
[35:01] cross. Okay. So it's a sh location. So
[35:04] if you're going
[35:06] down or the city
[35:09] if Yeah. Or San Antonio not you don't
[35:13] see it from one
[35:17] direction south.
[35:21] going south for sure. Yeah.
[35:27] Okay.
[35:29] Any other comments?
[35:31] Why can't we have two
[35:34] money for
[35:38] the I thought there was a budget
[35:42] there. There is but there's other things
[35:45] to consider for the fair. So if you do
[35:47] that then you take away from other parts
[35:51] in the town right because there's going
[35:53] to be other ways giveaways the different
[35:56] things that our city will be providing.
[36:00] So there's one. How much is it going? Um
[36:04] it can be up to between 500 to
[36:09] 700 for one. And so you could use if
[36:12] you're spending all of that on those two
[36:14] banners, you're going to take away from
[36:16] other things that we need for the fair.
[36:20] And just to factor in all the other
[36:22] marketing opportunities that are going
[36:24] to cost us, social media, we're going to
[36:27] do ads.
[36:31] The speed of people on
[36:33] port is faster than
[36:38] Elino. Okay. There's more traffic going
[36:41] down to low, but I don't know if that
[36:46] would
[36:47] be as
[36:50] effective as a lot more foot
[36:56] traffic and people
[36:58] who stop light there. So, they're going
[37:01] to be looking at
[37:03] something.
[37:06] Um, I would appreciate any other ideas
[37:11] on where people are going to be most
[37:15] receptive to looking at this and
[37:18] possibly making a decision.
[37:22] Jim, do you have a thought?
[37:25] If you don't, that's okay. I'm I'm okay
[37:28] with Again, this is very subjective. I I
[37:30] really do frequent the downtown area a
[37:34] lot. I frequent the community. I I find
[37:38] both of these options quite quite
[37:40] viable, but I'm not the only one. So,
[37:43] thank you.
[37:46] So, personally, I think the San Antonio
[37:49] would reach more residents that are not
[37:51] Los Altos. Yeah. And so that's if we're
[37:54] wanting to outreach to Sunnyale,
[37:57] outreach to Menllo or Palo Alto or
[38:00] Mountain View, I think placing it with
[38:03] San Antonio would be the the optimal
[38:05] spot. And in Los Altos, we have so many
[38:07] businesses. We can put paper ads in all
[38:09] the businesses and that should cover.
[38:13] Any other comments? Be ready to vote.
[38:17] All right.
[38:19] Somebody want to make a motion to move?
[38:21] I make a motion that we take San
[38:24] Antonio.
[38:26] Okay. Does someone second? Yes. All
[38:28] right. And let's raise the hands of
[38:31] those to approve San Antonio
[38:35] location. Those that would prefer the
[38:40] um All right. Jane, did you vote?
[38:46] So, what do you want? San Antonio.
[38:50] I can't hear every nuance of your words.
[38:52] I know you can hear me perfectly, but I
[38:54] can't hear you.
[38:56] Um, do you do you have a a vote for the
[39:00] banner either being on at Lincoln Park
[39:04] or San Antonio or El Camino? So they
[39:08] just everyone who voted right now for
[39:12] San Antonio El
[39:13] Camino and then if there's opposed or
[39:16] interested in voting for Lincoln Park
[39:19] for the banner to be placed. Oh for the
[39:22] banner. Yes.
[39:25] So, so people voted already to have it
[39:27] San Antonio. And
[39:30] so, so far those that are in favor of
[39:33] the San Antonio El Camino
[39:37] location that you can still vote for
[39:40] that or the second choice is Lincoln
[39:44] Park.
[39:46] I like the San Antonio El Camino. I
[39:48] think it's more inclusive of mountain
[39:49] view of different communities that we
[39:51] want to bring forward to our to our
[39:53] health fair. And that's my perspective.
[39:55] If you have it at Lincoln Park, it's
[39:57] very um Los Altos Los Altos Hills only.
[40:01] And I just like to see it a little
[40:02] broader than that. I don't know what
[40:04] you're expecting. Yes. You join everyone
[40:07] else's votes. Well done. So the vote at
[40:12] Thank you very much. Appreciate your
[40:13] input. All right. Moving on to item
[40:16] number three. providing feedback and
[40:18] direction on the
[40:21] giveaway and direction on
[40:24] giveaway. Yeah.
[40:28] And so
[40:31] well I recommended I did look at all the
[40:34] options that were in the right price
[40:37] range. My recommendation was to we can
[40:41] probably only do one but maybe two. um a
[40:45] keychain that goes around the wrist, you
[40:47] know, because people were joking about
[40:50] when you mention the question. So, where
[40:53] did I put my keys?
[40:58] Wonder if they can have a random risk.
[41:03] Okay. And we've also had ideas of a bag
[41:06] that they can put everything in. Another
[41:08] one or a notebook.
[41:13] [Music]
[41:15] Um my wife suggested having a raffle so
[41:19] that people will sign in and be given a
[41:23] numbered
[41:24] ticket and at various
[41:27] times the people attending are going to
[41:32] vary but we can keep people motivated to
[41:36] be around during the times that the
[41:40] winning numbers are going to be. as far
[41:42] as the items will be given. Um, it can
[41:46] be a much more
[41:49] modest
[41:50] price, but um, simply would only be
[41:54] actually raffling off maybe five of
[41:57] them. Um, that would be within a budget
[42:02] and within reason.
[42:07] Anybody else have funds? pretty good.
[42:11] But what I would also like to add is
[42:13] since we're still working on vendors in
[42:16] which uh who would be participating many
[42:20] times, I know at
[42:22] the fall expo that we had at the senior
[42:28] grant, there were a number of vendors
[42:30] that gave out bags. So, I think if we
[42:34] can hold off for a month and secure the
[42:38] vendors and see if we
[42:40] can
[42:41] request them or if they have the bag so
[42:45] that way we're not putting money into
[42:47] something that will already be provided
[42:50] and for them it's advertising because
[42:52] they have the fun. But I wanted to add
[42:54] on that. Um, uh, I spoke with a few,
[42:58] it's okay. I spoke with a few vendors
[43:00] whom I spoke with and they said that,
[43:03] uh, they need more lead time to invest
[43:06] in bags. So, at this point, they'll only
[43:08] bring whatever they have left over.
[43:14] September.
[43:18] Just a point. The microphone is for
[43:21] Zoom, not for us in the room. So, I can
[43:24] tell Jane was straining to hear you. So,
[43:27] I see. Yeah. Thank you.
[43:32] Comments. Well, the only Oh, go ahead. I
[43:36] was just going to say I think it might
[43:37] be good to have some handouts as
[43:40] well, you know, assuming we get the bag,
[43:43] right? Uh so by handouts I mean for
[43:47] example the list of upcoming senior
[43:49] lunches who the speakers are the new
[43:52] lunches are uh upcoming things that they
[43:55] fall for right I meanformational items
[43:58] that we know about because we're tuned
[44:01] into it but a lot of people don't that I
[44:04] find and they don't get the town crier
[44:06] you know the receiving notices so forth
[44:08] so I think that we ought to have that as
[44:11] part of our giveaway boy.
[44:20] Oh, you know, I think we need to decide.
[44:24] It's it's a little giveaway that would
[44:26] give everybody kind of sort of with the
[44:29] name of the of the event on it in some
[44:32] way. So, if it was a pan, they could
[44:35] have the name. If it was the nonperfect
[44:38] name, I'm not sure about this thing for
[44:42] the king as opposed to something that
[44:44] just a few people get if we get a
[44:54] raffle. I was thinking a
[44:57] triple all that information would be
[45:00] given including people register.
[45:04] So that that basically you're flooding
[45:07] the market.
[45:12] So are we voting on the item or one
[45:15] versus
[45:17] uh raffle versus the Well, I think with
[45:21] the raffle that is one way to keep
[45:23] people there and keep them interested
[45:25] and have them either have them have a
[45:28] raffle for the speakers. So they come
[45:31] and listen to a speaker as a way to
[45:33] direct them and inspire them to go
[45:36] listen and then come back. So that could
[45:39] just be five items and that would be a
[45:41] donation or potentially a vendor might
[45:44] be able to supply. Um may may I just
[45:49] provide a little a little
[45:51] context? There's a couple things. So,
[45:53] the the giveaway is is something to
[45:56] decide on like
[45:59] um the keychain or is it going to be a
[46:04] bag or a notepad and pen? Um when you're
[46:08] talking about a raffle, that could
[46:10] potentially be something where you're
[46:13] looking, you know, to businesses to
[46:16] sponsor something or maybe the vendor
[46:19] wants to contribute something to a
[46:21] raffle. But I think for this particular
[46:24] item is do you have um something you'd
[46:27] like to see as that work that is being
[46:30] handed out. So for example, when we did
[46:34] our open house, we had a bag um for that
[46:38] event and which had what the event was
[46:41] on it. So that's just the difference
[46:43] between the two. And so it sounds like a
[46:45] couple things have been mentioned.
[46:47] Do you know
[46:48] what do you know the price?
[46:52] cost they have to be they have to be
[46:54] under a certain number and I think it
[46:56] might be $4 or so. They usually sell
[46:59] them in bulk. So I think first the idea
[47:02] would be what type of
[47:04] [Music]
[47:05] giveaway is the commission interested in
[47:08] then we can look at what the prices are.
[47:12] The only thing is that you could have
[47:13] both if you have the right and you get
[47:16] members to contribute something.
[47:20] The only reason for the giveaway is
[47:22] there is a budget
[47:24] for the It looks like Jane has our hand
[47:28] up. Hey Jane, you
[47:32] Yes, I do. Let me um shut it down. But I
[47:35] was wondering if if one of the prizes or
[47:38] the main prize could be an offering of
[47:40] one of the classes that we hold
[47:45] like out of maybe five classes or they
[47:47] can choose among five classes. That's a
[47:50] good present because they have to pay
[47:52] for classes. Anyway, just an idea. um
[47:55] that's
[47:57] so so keeping with what Bridget was
[47:59] talking about of our giveaway from the
[48:03] senior commission to everybody who's
[48:06] coming and I think having a logo having
[48:09] the name of the event on something so
[48:12] that way
[48:14] um has our the city gun exactly what it
[48:19] is and if it is a bag then they have
[48:21] something that we give them and they
[48:24] will be reusable.
[48:32] Excuse the shopping bag. It would be a
[48:35] durable um advertisement.
[48:41] So with the budget, we'll figure out the
[48:43] budget and we can figure out how many
[48:45] can purchase within that. So to be the
[48:47] first 100 that come, people that come.
[48:50] Are we saying we're having a bag? I
[48:52] haven't heard what.
[48:54] [Music]
[48:56] Take
[48:59] another same sample. So I have a bag.
[49:06] A thought could be I don't know what the
[49:08] budget is for the giveaway, but it could
[49:11] be we spend a certain amount on so many
[49:13] bags and maybe another amount on
[49:16] keychains or wrist for keys. And that
[49:20] way the first 100 people get a bag
[49:23] everybody else gets the rest. I have a
[49:26] process question. Do we have a budget
[49:29] subcommittee that decides how much money
[49:32] we have and what goes to what bucket so
[49:35] we can make
[49:36] decisions largely based on what what
[49:40] that budget indicates for us what line
[49:42] items it can support. Do we have that?
[49:45] there is the budget. Um, but then it
[49:48] depends
[49:50] with with this particular decision that you're all going to
[49:55] make. Then we'll see what the cost is.
[49:57] And wait, I mean, I can give you input
[50:00] because I've been working with J on
[50:02] this. Sorry, I didn't. There is a
[50:05] budget. What I was saying about the
[50:08] amount per item isn't like we're going
[50:10] to pay that much. However we get the
[50:12] item, it has to fit within. We're
[50:15] expecting 100 maybe 200 people. One
[50:18] question for you. Do you know the what
[50:19] the budget is? I know roughly and she
[50:23] gave me a
[50:24] list of items that fit the budget. Okay.
[50:28] All right. So we couldn't So you pretty
[50:30] much answer my question. That means
[50:31] there is a budget there and also a body
[50:33] of people that know what that line is in
[50:36] that budget or is that true? I don't
[50:38] know if budget is too strong. is what
[50:40] they spend in the past and assuming the
[50:43] number of people that might attend being
[50:46] on the order of
[50:48] 200 in solution, right? Okay. She wants
[50:53] to say something. Jane has her hand up.
[50:56] I'm going to pass this on because I
[50:57] don't.
[50:59] All right. Jane, thank you. Is it my
[51:01] turn? You're talking about handing out
[51:04] um like little tote bags, tote bags to
[51:07] all the participants, everyone who
[51:09] comes. Is that what you're talking
[51:11] about? Yeah. Okay. So, I have a comment
[51:14] about that. Um two comments. The the
[51:17] little green bags that were given out
[51:19] when the community center opened and and
[51:21] for all their events as we were opening
[51:24] other other aspects of it, they were
[51:26] fantastic. People loved them. The size
[51:28] was perfect and everything was great.
[51:30] And they're not as expensive as bigger
[51:32] bags. But I do want to point out when I
[51:34] went to the Certino fair a year
[51:37] ago, almost every single vendor gave out
[51:41] a big tote bag with their, you know,
[51:43] blasted with their name and everything
[51:46] on the tote bag. So by the end of the
[51:48] thing when you walked around, you ended
[51:50] up like having 15 big tote bags. And so,
[51:55] you know, I'm just I'm just offering
[51:58] that up that there's going to be a lot
[52:00] of tote bags. I'm sure they're going to
[52:01] do that again. So, anyway, but I if
[52:04] we're going to do tote bags, I think the
[52:06] smaller ones are special
[52:09] because the big ones, you know, you get
[52:12] lost in them, but the little ones you
[52:13] can use for little things. I just think
[52:15] they're really they were really great.
[52:17] People love them. Thank
[52:20] you. Okay,
[52:24] we need to move on. Uh, so we did talk
[52:29] about giveaway bags, which the smaller
[52:32] ones sounds like budget, but good option
[52:34] and keychains could be another option.
[52:37] Not having a budget, not knowing uh
[52:40] exactly how many. I think we could look
[52:44] into that and find out how much. So,
[52:47] what's a list of possible items that fit
[52:49] the budget? Right. But that wasn't
[52:51] presented to us and it was not given to
[52:53] us. So we don't have that. So I think we
[52:55] need to tackle that discussion bring it
[52:59] out for the next meeting and by that
[53:01] time you can have an idea of the cost of
[53:03] the smaller bags how much you want how
[53:06] many you do want to purchase consider
[53:10] having also keychains with the name and
[53:14] marketing. If it's going to stay the
[53:16] same you can use it the next year as
[53:17] well. Y.
[53:20] So, we don't need to vote on this at
[53:23] this time. We're just going to be
[53:25] looking into more of the budget items
[53:27] and how much for the smaller bags and
[53:29] the teachings and we can do a report on
[53:33] that at the next meeting. I make for
[53:35] last. No. Yes. Yes. I don't need to if I
[53:40] just wanted to make sure that the the
[53:42] comment Jane made is made of because
[53:44] offering a class really.
[53:48] Yes.
[53:50] And that would be part of a that I think
[53:53] that that was separate than the giveaway
[53:56] for the raffle. I think that's something
[53:58] the city at the table there which that
[54:01] would be the classes that for parks and
[54:05] rec will be promoting at this particular
[54:08] event. They that would be great ways to
[54:10] do giveaways for that.
[54:12] So I just want to remind you that we do
[54:15] not have I believe the July meeting. So
[54:18] we would be pushing this till August and
[54:22] then that means probably like a month is
[54:27] time frame. So my recommendation may be
[54:31] that if you decide hey we want a bag and
[54:34] a notepad saying hey Jamie this is what
[54:36] we like ideally can you do this and see
[54:38] you can work with the numbers.
[54:41] But we don't have all the options that
[54:43] are supposed to be within that budget.
[54:45] So, first you need to get presented
[54:47] that. I mean, she's not here, but you
[54:51] know, talk about the wrist thing, uh,
[54:55] the bag, the pen. I don't know if the
[54:58] pen and notebook, but certainly pen.
[55:01] Those were the budget.
[55:04] So people really like to be able to
[55:10] [Music]
[55:13] I know that I use the notepads and they
[55:16] last a long time. So those are something
[55:20] that we can agree upon
[55:23] um that we would depending
[55:27] upon later making. Oh, let's do
[55:30] something else in addition. But the no
[55:32] pads would be a starter for sure.
[55:38] So I make the motion that we do take a
[55:40] vote today because I think we do need to
[55:43] get closure so we can move forward and
[55:46] but I don't think it needs to be either
[55:47] or. I think we can have
[55:50] multiple things that we include in this
[55:53] idea of giveaway.
[55:57] So, let's make a I made a motion to vote
[56:00] on giveaways which we have the ability
[56:04] to talk about the bags and potentially notebook and the wristband
[56:09] and it will then be determined by given
[56:12] out within the budget that Jamie works
[56:16] with. Does that
[56:19] sound good? Okay.
[56:21] [Music]
[56:23] So, should you make a motion? Do we have
[56:25] a second? Um, what the motion could you
[56:30] to move forward with a giveaway working
[56:35] with Jamie on pricing? Uh, so it becomes
[56:39] items within the budget whether be
[56:43] bags, notebook, pen or wrist.
[56:49] Thank you. And we'll take a vote.
[56:53] Everybody in favor of any these items
[56:56] for giveaway and I'll determine what the
[56:58] budget will be. All right,
[57:03] Jane, but she can't hear me. Jane, we're
[57:06] voting in f in favor of the giveaway.
[57:09] Yes.
[57:11] Okay, great. So, we have unanimous
[57:15] on
[57:16] that. Thank you very much. All right.
[57:19] provide feedback on the
[57:21] speaker. And so we've got the handouts.
[57:26] We got Commissioner G Thompson.
[57:32] Do you want to talk about that?
[57:38] Yeah. So we have two speakers confirmed.
[57:42] Two, one confirmed.
[57:45] So the
[57:46] woman I'm sorry will do the overview
[57:49] talk on healthy aging preventing
[57:52] cognitive decline something like that
[57:55] because she she's working on the title
[57:58] and the topic of family caregiving
[58:00] building resilience in family caregivers
[58:03] the personality is an expert in her area
[58:06] as well she works for the VA she has to
[58:09] get permission so that most likely that
[58:13] will
[58:15] The other piece that I wanted to say
[58:18] about this is that Jamie has been Jamie
[58:22] has contacted I believe it's both police
[58:25] and fire. Um I'm not 100% sure. I
[58:28] couldn't find my notes on that but I
[58:31] believe it was both of them about
[58:33] regards to safety issues public safety
[58:35] issues and both are agreeing to be
[58:39] vendors which I shared with you and as
[58:42] well as giving a talk of some sort. So
[58:47] in the last meeting at uh well I
[58:51] followed the outline that Amanda who
[58:54] used for the certino health
[58:59] fair of having the speaker commit to 30
[59:02] minutes and no longer than 30 minutes.
[59:05] So 30 minutes giving them move from
[59:07] 30,000 sheep you know the overview of
[59:10] what a philosophic was then there would
[59:12] be about five 10 minutes at the most for
[59:15] Q&A and then they would
[59:17] transition there according to the
[59:21] tenative schedule that I am proposing
[59:24] there would be up to nine speakers and
[59:26] that depends on whether we're hearing
[59:28] from the other individuals from the
[59:31] committee whether we have any of the
[59:33] other ones firmed up I How many how many
[59:36] we actually have at this
[59:39] point? Maximum we could handle is nine.
[59:42] I don't think we wouldn't have
[59:44] nine but if we had six that would
[59:48] probably be ideal. Why? Because Dr. Buck
[59:51] would like to have a panel and in order
[59:53] to have a panel discussion we need to
[59:56] have time in the schedule for that to
[59:58] happen. So if we had six speakers there
[1:00:01] would be time for a panel discussion. um
[1:00:04] at the you know toward the end of the
[1:00:06] time or we could put it wherever but there would be time to
[1:00:10] drill that in. So um I guess that's the
[1:00:14] working report that I can give at this
[1:00:16] point. I think we've made progress
[1:00:19] there's more to do to firm things up but
[1:00:22] I think if we have in mind six figures
[1:00:25] would probably be
[1:00:27] optimal. Um, but we could go online and
[1:00:31] if we want to do a panel, then we have
[1:00:33] to figure out where exactly to put that
[1:00:36] and how to how to work that in. May I
[1:00:40] please make a comment?
[1:00:45] Um, ma'am, would you respect you're
[1:00:48] talking about nine speakers? We haven't
[1:00:50] found nine so far and we have very
[1:00:54] little time left.
[1:00:57] We're not meeting next month and in
[1:01:00] August if we decide what if we don't
[1:01:04] have these many speakers what is the
[1:01:06] backup idea to have the panel to fill in
[1:01:09] with the panel the panel would be the
[1:01:11] backup well the panel could reserve no
[1:01:14] matter what but it would fill in the
[1:01:16] time very nicely if there were six
[1:01:18] people I see okay thank you for can I
[1:01:21] make suggestion also
[1:01:27] I would think that six might be enough
[1:01:29] to exceed as opposed to something for
[1:01:32] and possibly try to exceed. That's
[1:01:35] largely because people get saturated.
[1:01:37] They
[1:01:38] get information overload and we lose attentiveness. So my my feeling is
[1:01:44] six is probably not about
[1:01:49] so at this point
[1:01:56] Sorry about
[1:01:59] [Music]
[1:02:05] um I have made contact with Linda
[1:02:10] Conover who is both uh has a business
[1:02:15] uh relating to
[1:02:17] caregivers and is giving a
[1:02:21] talk there upon
[1:02:24] um at the church I go
[1:02:27] to she is agreed to be a speaker about
[1:02:31] the issue of
[1:02:34] caregiving remind me the name of the
[1:02:36] young woman who spoke earlier here
[1:02:42] Kathleen was a C or K C
[1:02:48] and her last name I'll give it to you
[1:02:49] later Okay. Um, I think that she might
[1:02:52] be also a potential speaker.
[1:02:57] Excuse me.
[1:02:58] The social the social
[1:03:00] isolation in its literal sense is a
[1:03:03] killer.
[1:03:06] The
[1:03:07] [Music]
[1:03:09] loneliness is a 30% increased mortality.
[1:03:14] So you have the
[1:03:17] potential then of healthy aging family
[1:03:21] caregivers like the two people who can
[1:03:25] give aspects of that and then
[1:03:31] [Music]
[1:03:32] um loneliness isolation.
[1:03:39] So that would if it works out that be
[1:03:43] one, two, three, four
[1:03:46] speakers plus the two public safety,
[1:03:49] right? Plus two. Oh, two public safety.
[1:03:55] Thank you. I would imagine that they
[1:03:57] would be together
[1:03:59] or independent. You will have to talk to
[1:04:01] him. Looks like Jane has a comment.
[1:04:05] Jane, you're
[1:04:07] Yes, it is. Is it my turn to talk? Yes.
[1:04:10] You're talking about the caregiving um
[1:04:13] possibility for one of the speakers. You
[1:04:16] know, the our county, Santa Clara County
[1:04:18] is have has a huge initiative about this
[1:04:21] and and the people to call to get the
[1:04:23] most current people on the topic would
[1:04:26] be source-wise who I'm on their advisory
[1:04:29] board and also they're going to be one
[1:04:31] of our vendors. They're the ones that
[1:04:33] are working with that carefully and they
[1:04:36] know all the resources for that. So
[1:04:39] before we just think of people that we
[1:04:41] know, go to the source, which is
[1:04:44] source-wise, and find
[1:04:46] out, you know, what the initiative is.
[1:04:49] It's it's a whole countywide thing, and
[1:04:51] they're really working on it. They have
[1:04:53] funding for it, too, unless the feds
[1:04:54] pull it, but right now they have
[1:04:56] funding.
[1:05:00] That's it. Thank you. Question.
[1:05:05] Um, Dear and I are the couple. We're
[1:05:11] talking about the flow of the day and
[1:05:14] the structure of it. The structure is
[1:05:18] going to be dependent upon the number of
[1:05:21] speakers because they need time. And I
[1:05:24] would say that um 30 plus minutes
[1:05:30] um is a possible again if we okay so we
[1:05:35] need to stay on the subject. So that
[1:05:37] that's that's another topic. Okay.
[1:05:40] Sorry. Thank you.
[1:05:43] Okay. So we have
[1:05:46] the we got your feedback. Any other
[1:05:49] feedback from speakers? I'll have one
[1:05:51] more. One more. Okay. One more thing I
[1:05:54] wanted to say and that is that we need I
[1:05:56] thought we needed to get exercise in
[1:05:58] there for movement and I I talked to
[1:06:01] Jamie separately about the involving
[1:06:04] some of the uh people here who do
[1:06:06] classes and that was a very popular part
[1:06:09] of this one with the two of them because
[1:06:11] they offered that they had Zumba gold
[1:06:14] they had chair exercises um I forget the
[1:06:18] third one they could they used this
[1:06:22] three different time slots and so they
[1:06:25] had an exercise or movement component in
[1:06:27] each of the time slots and it was very
[1:06:30] well received. So, um Jamie I know
[1:06:33] contacted a couple of the features here
[1:06:36] that that offered movement classes.
[1:06:38] Again, I'm sorry I don't have all the
[1:06:40] details. I don't think anybody's firmed
[1:06:42] up yet. I think it was a matter of did
[1:06:45] we have a speaker for that or would it
[1:06:47] be better to do demonstrations and her
[1:06:50] view or demonstrations would be better
[1:06:52] and I would second that based on the
[1:06:54] group that she wants to raise. So I
[1:06:56] think we have I'd like to be sure we
[1:06:58] have exercise in well
[1:07:01] I think that's great suggestion. All
[1:07:04] right. So any other discussion on the
[1:07:08] speaker on the speaker. Okay.
[1:07:11] Um just a quick calculation if we have
[1:07:15] three hours of time and we have six
[1:07:18] speakers that means we having one person
[1:07:21] speaking every 30 minutes. That covers
[1:07:24] the entire time and we have no time left
[1:07:27] for the vendors. They are in they would
[1:07:29] be in the three rooms that are available
[1:07:33] and the vendors are in a separate room.
[1:07:36] People go back and forth. So there's no
[1:07:38] Certino. There was a great flow of
[1:07:41] people float in and out. So they would
[1:07:43] go maybe to hear a talk then they would
[1:07:45] go to the baker and then they would do a
[1:07:47] chair exercise. So there's a lot of flow
[1:07:50] and movement. Nobody's like sat in the
[1:07:52] chair for you know three hours till we
[1:07:55] call. Okay. Yeah. But then that brings
[1:07:58] us to what Bill was talking about.
[1:08:01] That will be determined after we have
[1:08:03] the speakers set up. Okay.
[1:08:07] So let me hand it back to you regarding
[1:08:09] refreshments.
[1:08:11] Our next item unless any other comments
[1:08:14] regarding uh speakers. Okay. Very good.
[1:08:19] Thank you. So for refreshments, there is
[1:08:21] really no vote needed. Um I spoke with
[1:08:24] Losato Hills to provide us refreshments
[1:08:27] and they've very kindly said yes. Um
[1:08:31] Loato Hills will need us to give them a
[1:08:35] number and Jamie has suggested about 200
[1:08:39] to 250 people and so they're going to
[1:08:42] provide a boxed meal. We've suggested
[1:08:45] that it should be not a lunch or a
[1:08:48] dinner but a snack. So, they were
[1:08:50] thinking about providing a sandwich, a
[1:08:52] drink, and
[1:08:55] um like a healthy
[1:08:57] bar, but um James said that Los Altos
[1:09:01] will provide all the
[1:09:02] beverages. So, there's no drink in the
[1:09:05] box. There's a there's a sandwich,
[1:09:07] there's a healthy bar, and perhaps some
[1:09:11] fruit. That's it. That will come
[1:09:15] directly. You get delivered here at
[1:09:16] 11:00. Um, they're looking at caterers,
[1:09:20] so there's no vote. It's done.
[1:09:23] Anybody have questions?
[1:09:26] Seems like a good
[1:09:31] Perfect. Very
[1:09:33] good. Let's see. So, then we move on to
[1:09:42] Well, it's the vendor that would be
[1:09:44] under our
[1:09:49] just our reports. Yeah, you should do
[1:09:52] the vendor report. Okay. So,
[1:09:55] vendors uh there was a list of vendors
[1:09:58] that have been contacted you started.
[1:10:02] You have I have the list and it was that
[1:10:05] spreadsheet. You want me to put it up?
[1:10:07] No, it's also been handed out in the
[1:10:09] working reports with the vendor. So,
[1:10:12] these are folks that we have talked to
[1:10:15] and are working on getting confirmation of their ability to
[1:10:22] um participate and be there. And I know
[1:10:26] I'm meeting
[1:10:28] with
[1:10:38] senior, somebody that is in the industry
[1:10:42] who can help us in making
[1:10:45] suggestions with contacts within the
[1:10:48] county as well as the city. uh and those
[1:10:51] that have gone for is what I like to
[1:10:54] say. And so I will have a updated and I
[1:10:58] can send it to Jamie who then can send
[1:11:00] it out to everyone. So that way we're
[1:11:04] not just giving you the information in
[1:11:06] August.
[1:11:09] Question. What are the vendors expected
[1:11:11] to do at the fair?
[1:11:15] What are the vendors expected to do at
[1:11:17] the fair? So they can take up.
[1:11:21] So the vendors are expected to man the
[1:11:24] table. Um
[1:11:26] our community center is providing the
[1:11:30] tables. They will get the vendors will
[1:11:33] arrive at 11:00 to set up each table
[1:11:37] according to their plan. They'll have
[1:11:40] brochures and leaflets or maybe some
[1:11:44] other visual aids and and giveaways and
[1:11:48] there'll be a contact person with whom
[1:11:52] we have been in touch and that person
[1:11:54] will be available at the table to answer
[1:11:56] any questions. So they will have the
[1:11:59] table at all hours during the event.
[1:12:02] That's it.
[1:12:09] [Music]
[1:12:10] church. So vendors were the most
[1:12:12] exciting part of this whole
[1:12:15] thing and you know granted I mean I love
[1:12:18] lectures you know I love hearing people
[1:12:21] talk and learning these things but all
[1:12:23] that but the vendors were kind of the
[1:12:25] heart of the matter because there was so
[1:12:27] much that I had thought I didn't know
[1:12:29] about I was you know the kids say blown
[1:12:32] away right by what I didn't know about
[1:12:36] what was available in three to four
[1:12:38] seniors and how you could them that you
[1:12:41] know who who to
[1:12:43] contact. They all had giveaways of some
[1:12:46] sort. Usually some paper things or
[1:12:48] sometimes they had um like first aid
[1:12:52] little first aid things you could take
[1:12:53] with you or beautiful flyers very
[1:12:56] colorful so you had information that you
[1:12:59] could put on your fridge you want to
[1:13:00] post somewhere at home. Very very
[1:13:03] useful. So, I'm really excited that we
[1:13:06] have such a good array of vendors.
[1:13:15] We have Columbus. Oh, I have that. Okay.
[1:13:18] So, then we've talked about vendors.
[1:13:23] [Music]
[1:13:24] Um, marketing. I think that's that will
[1:13:28] start up now that we've got the city
[1:13:31] able to move forward.
[1:13:35] And any discussion on getting suggest
[1:13:38] Oh, I know we have the Tom Prior having
[1:13:40] an opinion on piece and
[1:13:45] I'm supposed to be writing that and
[1:13:46] giving that I will do that immediately.
[1:13:49] Okay,
[1:13:50] fantastic. And any other suggestions? I
[1:13:53] mean we do social media but we can also
[1:13:55] do our own um next door and help support
[1:13:59] and then even
[1:14:01] when we get posters and flyers we can
[1:14:04] put them up on telephone calls. Do you
[1:14:07] know when those now that we have do you
[1:14:09] know when they will be available? I do
[1:14:10] not because we have to get that and then
[1:14:14] create it. So I don't have an exact
[1:14:16] time. So would that be something that
[1:14:19] could be sent out to everybody so we
[1:14:21] could pick them up?
[1:14:24] So what you're asking is once the flyer
[1:14:27] is completed, we can make copies and
[1:14:31] then you can pick them up as a group and
[1:14:34] distribute. Yes. And I will say from
[1:14:36] another organization when putting out
[1:14:39] flyers many times you do two weeks,
[1:14:42] three weeks in advance, not any sooner,
[1:14:45] not any right more in advance because
[1:14:47] they get torn down and they just get
[1:14:49] forgotten. So maybe even August was not
[1:14:54] it's not too late to get them to us
[1:14:57] either because then we have an
[1:14:59] opportunity to get that. Okay. But if we
[1:15:02] could have it maybe
[1:15:04] online, then we could send it out to our
[1:15:08] friends and such and sort.
[1:15:12] Yeah, I've given J some ideas to patch
[1:15:16] for example.
[1:15:18] Yes, exactly. Like next door.
[1:15:23] Very sorry I forgot to say that I wanted
[1:15:26] to pray about the vendors because I
[1:15:28] didn't see it on your list. Maybe you
[1:15:31] wouldn't think of it normally as a
[1:15:32] vendor, but I was thinking about the
[1:15:34] library. I think the library here is
[1:15:37] amazing. And the library system in Santa
[1:15:39] Clara Valley Library system is amazing.
[1:15:42] Any book you want, they'll order it for
[1:15:44] you. They'll bring it, you know, they'll
[1:15:46] practically bring it to your house. Um,
[1:15:49] no cost. Uh, they have they tell you
[1:15:52] about films, canopy, there's all kinds
[1:15:56] of um it's not just books anymore, as
[1:15:59] you all know. there's a lot of love in
[1:16:02] the win. So, I thought maybe if the
[1:16:04] library had an opportunity to show their
[1:16:07] wares that would be helpful to a lot of
[1:16:10] cleaning again is something I had no
[1:16:13] idea. I've learned gradually over the
[1:16:15] years how to use it and what all the
[1:16:18] detail.
[1:16:22] Love that. Thank you. Thank you for that
[1:16:25] question. All right.
[1:16:27] Uh so then we're moving on to our work
[1:16:31] plan.
[1:16:36] The
[1:16:40] event flow. Okay. So we have 14 minutes
[1:16:47] before we go to work plan. Did we talk
[1:16:48] about
[1:16:49] the right
[1:16:55] um the flow is that I mentioned it's
[1:16:58] going to depend upon the
[1:17:01] time that the speakers um have and how
[1:17:06] we want the portions of
[1:17:09] time for transition between talks.
[1:17:15] There are three rooms for speakers and
[1:17:19] then the large room is is it this room?
[1:17:23] We have this
[1:17:27] um for the but the speaker this room the
[1:17:30] one across and which is the third group
[1:17:42] Africa
[1:17:44] sequoia apricot and sequoia are the
[1:17:47] three groups
[1:17:50] that's only activities or best lectures,
[1:17:53] just the speakers. The speakers. Okay.
[1:17:55] And if we do the demos, if there's
[1:17:57] actually demonstrations that move, then
[1:18:00] they will be on. Yeah. Hopefully get
[1:18:04] that. Yeah.
[1:18:08] [Music]
[1:18:18] I still don't really have an
[1:18:22] idea of how much time we have to allow
[1:18:26] for people moving
[1:18:29] around and I don't know whether we want
[1:18:33] some kind of social
[1:18:35] uh connection to
[1:18:38] um to for people to network
[1:18:45] Let me pass the mic.
[1:18:49] Thank you. That's that's that's nice. So
[1:18:52] I need three things that we need to
[1:18:55] discuss. The first is when people come
[1:18:58] in, they'll be coming in from this door
[1:19:00] and that door. Do we want to have
[1:19:03] registration desks uh or do does
[1:19:06] everybody come to the information room?
[1:19:09] Where how does it work? cuz one of us I
[1:19:13] would like to be present at the
[1:19:14] registration desk so that I can register
[1:19:17] people in hand them all whatever bag or
[1:19:20] keychain that they're supposed to have
[1:19:21] give them the agenda.
[1:19:24] How does it work? Well, I think that's
[1:19:27] up to the commission to decide, but I
[1:19:31] can give an example. When we had our
[1:19:34] open house, we did have the registration
[1:19:36] table, but we also had greeters. So, one
[1:19:40] person was at the south entrance here,
[1:19:43] then one person was over here just
[1:19:46] handing out bags and guiding people to
[1:19:50] the front desk which was kind of the
[1:19:52] centralized area. Will we have staff
[1:19:55] doing that or does one of us I think you
[1:19:58] know that' probably be a discussion to talk with Jamie about in terms of how
[1:20:03] you so I think you're trying to figure
[1:20:05] out the flow and you haven't figured
[1:20:07] that out yet. So that's what we're
[1:20:10] trying to do right now. So we will need
[1:20:13] registration. So whether a staff does
[1:20:16] that or one of us has to give time that
[1:20:18] we need to find out. Second, uh where do
[1:20:21] we locate the refreshments? That's going
[1:20:24] to be important because there'll have to
[1:20:25] be a table where the v the the caterer
[1:20:28] comes and delivers and u where we send
[1:20:32] people to keep going and getting their
[1:20:34] refreshments. The third thing is are we
[1:20:37] getting any a separate room where people
[1:20:40] will be able to sit and have their
[1:20:43] refreshment or
[1:20:46] um talk with each
[1:20:49] other. This is something that we need
[1:20:51] from the from the staff. I don't have
[1:20:54] the answer right now but I know we do
[1:20:56] have outside areas where people can sit
[1:20:59] and that's how we had it as well. open
[1:21:02] house, people are kind of coming and go
[1:21:04] most likely. So, they're gonna grab
[1:21:07] something, check out the vendor, and
[1:21:09] we've got all these areas that can be
[1:21:11] utilized. Do you intend to use the uh
[1:21:14] the senior facility as a as a possible
[1:21:17] area of lounging and getting together?
[1:21:20] It's a potential, but I think it goes
[1:21:24] back to the commission. My sense is if
[1:21:25] she at least discuss it with them
[1:21:27] because that that's really a wonderful
[1:21:30] idea. Yeah.
[1:21:32] So another and you're talking with Jamie
[1:21:35] I believe was set up for food. So
[1:21:38] depending on how many speakers that are
[1:21:41] [Music]
[1:21:42] actually set up that could be the food
[1:21:45] area and then it could flow out because
[1:21:47] you have a number of tables that are
[1:21:49] sitting here too. It's not as if people
[1:21:51] would be coming and
[1:21:53] um staying and they eat and then other
[1:21:56] people.
[1:22:01] Yeah.
[1:22:04] I think it's useful to have registration
[1:22:07] at both
[1:22:09] doors particularly since we want to have
[1:22:12] a list of people who are attending so
[1:22:15] that we can stay in touch with them for
[1:22:17] future events. Can I comment on that
[1:22:21] one? My feeling is that I think the
[1:22:22] staff has this abund abundance of
[1:22:26] experience with this particular issue.
[1:22:27] You have done this many times. So I
[1:22:30] would I would defer to the staff but I
[1:22:32] think one of the scenarios that you
[1:22:34] mentioned would be retailers followed by
[1:22:37] leading people to a one central
[1:22:40] registration place where we could do
[1:22:42] work work yourself. just essentially
[1:22:44] take information down, hand stuff out to
[1:22:47] them and if you want to have their
[1:22:49] contact information, we register all
[1:22:51] that in one central place as opposed to
[1:22:53] multimate. So again, a retail plus one
[1:22:56] central registration in my viewpoint
[1:22:58] would would work pretty well. But yeah,
[1:23:02] pretty good sounds.
[1:23:08] And that sounds like what you've done in
[1:23:10] the past.
[1:23:11] The one thing is for the the event. We
[1:23:14] had we didn't have registration. We were
[1:23:17] having people register for classes. So
[1:23:21] people just showed up. So we were just
[1:23:23] guiding people. So that's if that's the
[1:23:26] question that you would need to decide.
[1:23:29] Are people going to show up or are they
[1:23:32] going to register? No, that I need I
[1:23:35] would really recommend that we register
[1:23:38] even if we have uh readers from the
[1:23:40] staff that's great. We need that. If we
[1:23:43] don't have anybody, I volunteer to man
[1:23:45] the registration table. No, I think the
[1:23:47] staff can do that. I don't know. They
[1:23:50] might be busy with other things. If so,
[1:23:52] I want
[1:23:55] done a lot of that that kind of stuff
[1:23:57] going on here because I'm very obsessed.
[1:24:00] So, a vice chair. I think you're talking
[1:24:02] about two different things. I think
[1:24:04] we're talking about pre-registration in
[1:24:07] advance, weren't you? So, we're talking
[1:24:10] about registration. I know there are,
[1:24:12] but you were kind of like you were
[1:24:14] talking about a different thing. I was
[1:24:16] basically trying to figure out with
[1:24:19] events you could do a pre-registration
[1:24:23] or for example most of our events we
[1:24:26] don't do that. People just come because
[1:24:28] then you run the risk of well I didn't
[1:24:31] sign up so I'm not going to come. Yeah.
[1:24:32] We don't want any previous to. Yeah. So
[1:24:35] that simplifies things I think if you
[1:24:37] don't have a registration. So basically
[1:24:41] on the commission when you're going over
[1:24:44] your layout where the public's going to
[1:24:46] be coming in and out you're having
[1:24:48] potentially greeters
[1:24:51] who are just welcoming you know are they
[1:24:53] handing out the bags that you purchase
[1:24:55] is there a raffle those kind of I'm
[1:24:58] sorry this is just I'm just giving an
[1:25:00] example. Yeah. So if you say there is no
[1:25:02] registration, there's no
[1:25:03] pre-registration, right? You don't need
[1:25:05] that. There is a registration when
[1:25:07] people are coming in to the event, not
[1:25:11] before on the day of. Why? Because we
[1:25:14] want to keep their email addresses for
[1:25:17] the future. That's why. Oh, there's
[1:25:20] multiple reasons. That's that's one
[1:25:21] reason. There are other reasons. I think
[1:25:23] what we want to do is co use that
[1:25:25] opportunity as a means of coordinating
[1:25:28] people. And if you have half people
[1:25:29] registering before, half people who are
[1:25:31] not registering before, I think it's all
[1:25:32] getting a little bit compled. I think
[1:25:35] what we need to do is have the greeters
[1:25:37] more or less hurt the people toward the
[1:25:40] registration said and then we can we can
[1:25:44] do the registration handing out the
[1:25:46] whatever tet and trash we're going to
[1:25:48] hand out to them and then go have them
[1:25:50] go to the and guide them to where they
[1:25:52] need to go. I think so too. I would call
[1:25:56] it maybe instead of maybe we're getting
[1:25:58] hung up on the word registration, maybe
[1:26:00] call it a sign in sheet that people sign
[1:26:03] in when they come
[1:26:06] over the door. They sign in and they get
[1:26:09] their name on their
[1:26:10] email. I mean, I don't think that and we
[1:26:13] can give them a printed agenda so you
[1:26:15] know all the speakers where they are.
[1:26:18] And I also think we need to give them
[1:26:19] the option of not getting their name
[1:26:21] emailed because I've seen I think we
[1:26:24] need to because as a senior I'm not
[1:26:26] going to trust email. I'm not I went to
[1:26:31] this one and I didn't have to register.
[1:26:33] I got a bag and I went around and it was
[1:26:35] information gathering. I didn't need to
[1:26:37] register.
[1:26:39] I don't read any more emails.
[1:26:43] So that is all part of the discussion in
[1:26:46] the
[1:26:48] I have another reason why we might want
[1:26:50] to have sign in and that is because we
[1:26:52] might want to get their feedback. So if
[1:26:54] perhaps if we gave people a reading, you
[1:26:56] know, we'd like you to sign in because
[1:26:58] we're going to do a survey.
[1:27:04] [Music]
[1:27:10] Jamie, what do you have to say?
[1:27:12] particularly inviting them to suggest
[1:27:15] topics that they would like to see for
[1:27:17] the next
[1:27:24] special
[1:27:26] literature literature.
[1:27:38] I do have one option. Um, so I've seen
[1:27:42] flyers where they have a QR code that
[1:27:44] says, "Please give us your feedback."
[1:27:47] And you could have a QR code and that
[1:27:49] could be like your opportunity drawing
[1:27:51] like, "Hey, give us your feedback that
[1:27:53] it would be a registration." And then
[1:27:54] they could win prizes if they register.
[1:27:58] So that could be another way to an
[1:28:00] incentive to fill out the feedback form
[1:28:02] and get numbered.
[1:28:04] Um, yeah, it's a good thought. I have
[1:28:07] one more question. We have a bunch of
[1:28:09] things that we are going to need
[1:28:11] printed. Um, we're going to need our
[1:28:14] marketing materials printed. We're going
[1:28:16] to need our agenda printed. Yeah. We're
[1:28:18] going to need, you know, things that we
[1:28:22] will place like here is the room for
[1:28:24] speakers put outside that this is the
[1:28:27] time the speaker will speak. This is the
[1:28:29] time the demo will happen. Do we have
[1:28:32] since we're not going to have a July
[1:28:34] meeting, do we have any specifications
[1:28:36] for when this has to be done and how?
[1:28:40] Yeah, that's that's that's a logistics
[1:28:43] that staff usually works on. I mean,
[1:28:45] tell me if I'm wrong, but staff should
[1:28:47] be guiding us through how that that
[1:28:50] takes place because that's a support
[1:28:51] mechanism that needs to be in place.
[1:28:54] She's right. Okay.
[1:28:57] So, what generally happens is um we
[1:29:01] either read the flyer or not sure if it
[1:29:04] is creating a problem it and then um we
[1:29:08] get it approved and then we can find the
[1:29:10] links for you and your sub can give us
[1:29:13] feedback to so now we have a name of of
[1:29:17] the event date and stuff will you be
[1:29:19] able to create the flyer now
[1:29:21] independently or do you need us to do
[1:29:23] any
[1:29:24] I think we can go ahead and move forward
[1:29:26] with creating drafts and then um I guess
[1:29:31] that the discussion would be what drafts
[1:29:32] do you want us to create? So if you want
[1:29:34] us to create something that has the
[1:29:36] agenda on the back and then um we can
[1:29:40] work with your marketing sub commmittee
[1:29:42] to just make sure we get everything we
[1:29:43] need or that could come from the
[1:29:45] marketing sub committee too. And how
[1:29:47] will we work since we are not meeting in
[1:29:49] July? It's going to be by email now in
[1:29:52] the month of June with all of you. Who
[1:29:54] is the marketing subcommittee?
[1:29:57] YouTube.
[1:30:01] I think somebody needs to work on a
[1:30:02] format. So, let's make sure they don't
[1:30:06] let that's the rules. You know, somebody
[1:30:08] needs to work on a format of what shape
[1:30:10] the flyer is going to look like. I mean,
[1:30:12] like this one, right? And that's what
[1:30:14] the staff. Okay. Exactly.
[1:30:17] Do we need uh do we need commission
[1:30:20] involved or one of his team of two
[1:30:22] involved? The email doing it. Okay.
[1:30:26] Got it. Thank you. That's good.
[1:30:29] All right. Any other comments?
[1:30:31] All right. So then we are on to flyers
[1:30:36] working work plan. You have item three.
[1:30:39] What the agenda? So senior healthare is
[1:30:43] item two. Oh. So that's
[1:30:45] just the next meeting because this
[1:30:48] course
[1:30:54] 5:00. Exactly. Five is there. All right.
[1:30:58] So move the item number three to
[1:31:02] discussion for next
[1:31:04] our next meeting.
[1:31:09] So then staff oral reports staff reports. So does uh the town of
[1:31:18] Los Altos have any oral updates they'd
[1:31:21] like to share?
[1:31:24] They just Oh.
[1:31:26] I'm the only one here. I can tell you.
[1:31:28] We just have Amina has something. Okay.
[1:31:31] Yeah. Um we just have our Fourth of July
[1:31:33] parade uh coming up for the Fourth of
[1:31:36] July. Um it's the same parade we do
[1:31:38] every year starting at Town Hall and
[1:31:41] then we walk over to Gardener Bulis
[1:31:43] where we just have some fun activities.
[1:31:45] And then in August we have our um annual
[1:31:48] movie night. Um the movie we're playing
[1:31:50] this year is Moana 2. So feel free to
[1:31:54] bring your family out and don't forget
[1:31:56] to register.
[1:31:59] Okay. And then from Los Altos, Chris.
[1:32:02] Yeah. Adult 50 plus program brochure is
[1:32:05] updated and available. You'll find us
[1:32:06] all sorts of highlights, upcoming
[1:32:08] lunches, upcoming after lunches. Yeah.
[1:32:11] And more activities and gatherings. So
[1:32:13] that's at the desk perhaps. Yeah.
[1:32:18] Vice Chair, may I add something on the
[1:32:20] list? I'll testify. Um, so I just want
[1:32:24] to clarify what one of the public
[1:32:26] speakers had said, Art Whipple. Um, so
[1:32:29] what we talked about at council briefly
[1:32:32] um was about one of the council members
[1:32:36] had asked for um go bags for seniors.
[1:32:41] And what the what the city manager
[1:32:44] explained is that Brazilian Los Altos
[1:32:46] actually has a budget for that already.
[1:32:49] um that they would uh and I also
[1:32:51] mentioned and this is the spoiler alert
[1:32:54] that uh we've talked with uh aligning
[1:32:58] the commission's goals next year with
[1:33:01] council priority of um emergency
[1:33:04] preparedness and focus and this
[1:33:06] commission focusing on senior emergency
[1:33:08] preparedness and and goat. So um so that
[1:33:12] all came up at council last week so I
[1:33:16] kind of spilled the beans.
[1:33:19] Um anyway, so that's actually being
[1:33:22] addressed, but I just wanted to let you
[1:33:23] all know that that was mentioned. And so
[1:33:26] if you hear it in a roundabout way, I've
[1:33:28] now disclosed. So I think that's for
[1:33:30] next year though. We're not going to
[1:33:32] talk about that today.
[1:33:35] We have coming attraction.
[1:33:38] Yes.
[1:33:41] Okay.
[1:33:43] So flyers. Okay. Now we have the flyers.
[1:33:47] So, um, for flyers, we've got our
[1:33:49] upcoming family funday that the next one
[1:33:52] is June 21st. We also have our camp
[1:33:55] starting actually June 16th to August
[1:33:58] 8th, our summer concert with the
[1:34:01] Peninsula Sipity Kickoff concerts going
[1:34:03] to be happening this Saturday, June 7th
[1:34:06] at Grant Park. And then after that, um,
[1:34:09] on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:00, uh,
[1:34:12] we'll be having concerts. We will have
[1:34:15] three at Grant and then three at
[1:34:16] Hillview. We have our flyer that has all
[1:34:19] the wonderful details. Um information
[1:34:21] about becoming a volunteer. Anyone
[1:34:24] interested um please check this out. Um
[1:34:27] along with our Redwood camp, we also
[1:34:30] have Camp Jellybean which is for our
[1:34:32] ages three three and a half to four
[1:34:34] years of age. We
[1:34:37] have see the senior the sen adult 50
[1:34:41] plus is going to be doing the summer
[1:34:43] concert finale on Thursday July 31st
[1:34:46] from 5:15 to 6:30. So that would be
[1:34:48] really fun. These are also in your in
[1:34:51] your packets. Is that adult 50? Adult 50
[1:34:55] plus. Yes. Is that also reflected in
[1:34:58] that flyer that you have? Correct. All
[1:35:01] right. Thank you. Yes. Um, and then
[1:35:04] we've got the um, the hills has the
[1:35:06] Fourth of July parade which had just
[1:35:09] mentioned. We are also hiring. We're
[1:35:12] hiring for the adult 50 plus program,
[1:35:14] our teen center, and also our pickle
[1:35:17] ball program. And um, there was also a
[1:35:22] lifetime achievement award for
[1:35:23] volunteers that took place on Sunday,
[1:35:25] May 18th, 2025 from 3 to 5. It was very
[1:35:30] successful. And that is all that we have
[1:35:33] for flyers at this time. Thank you.
[1:35:36] All right. So, we're set to
[1:35:40] the meeting.

[1:35:49] coming. No numbers.
