[0:02] Good morning, everyone. It is 7am, a quorumist present, and this meeting has been duly called and hosted in the time and manner required by law. So I'll call the October 13, 2022, public hearing and regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Lubbock Independent School District to order.
[0:20] We're going to begin by inviting Jeremy Winters, detectives and chaplain for the Lubbock Police Department. Detective Winters, thank you for being here and thank you for your service.
[0:30] Detective Winners is going to open the meeting with the prayer and lead the audience in the
[0:35] pledges to the American in Texas flags.
[0:38] The All-Valgetez with me, Father, we thank you for being present where we are.
[0:44] We thank you for the promises and hope in you.
[0:47] We pray for the members of this board as they work and the work that they do.
[0:52] Father, we come to you today asking for your guidance, your wisdom, support as we begin
[0:57] this meeting.
[0:58] Help them engage in meaningful discussion, allow them to grow closer as a group and nurture the bonds of the community.
[1:05] Give them insight and lead them with integrity that their decisions may reflect what is right and good.
[1:12] Father, we pray for the decisions made here.
[1:15] There are the best interests of the children and the district and the decisions will please you.
[1:20] Dear Lord, grant us humility and always and we ask that we always seek your will and what we do and what we say.
[1:26] in your name we pray. Amen. You'll join me with the pledges.
[1:33] A pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the
[1:37] Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, individual, the liberty and justice for all.
[1:46] And the Texas flag, honor the Texas flag. I pledge allegiance to the
[1:52] One state, undergone, run and indivisible.
[2:03] Detective, thank you so much for being here.
[2:06] I want to be mindful of the fact that one of the important things
[2:11] that you pray for was humility with this next remark,
[2:15] because as we read about the events south of here,
[2:22] the tragic events last May, I don't want to ever say it can't happen here,
[2:27] Right, because we pray that it never will, but I'd just instruct this morning about how thankful I am for the relationship that our district has with our city government and especially the LPD and you guys are a big part of helping us be prepared for stuff that we hope never happens and please pass that on to your colleagues how grateful we are for your department.
[2:52] Thank you.
[2:55] Let me wonder some fun stuff.
