[0:00] Well, we have 533. I'm going to call the meeting to order, please stand for the pledge.
[0:07] I pledge allegiance to the flag, and the United States of America, and to the public for which it stands.
[0:13] My nation, I'm your God, and this is all, but the 30 and 10 of us are off.
[0:19] All right, thank you. All right, so we are at that time of year when we are reorganizing.
[0:25] So, at this time, I would please seek a motion for the school board chair.
[0:32] Motion for the motion for the motion.
[0:35] Second, second, from Sherry discussion.
[0:39] Are there any others interested?
[0:40] Parties before we discuss the next.
[0:44] Seeing none.
[0:46] All over the favor.
[0:47] Not part.
[0:48] Enemies.
[0:49] Jim.
[0:49] Congratulations.
[0:50] The meeting is yours.
[0:51] Thank you.
[0:52] I will take.
[0:53] Okay, second page, motion for vice chair, motion by Jeremy for a second, second by Sherry,
[1:07] any other ed you good, all in favor?
[1:13] I am a poster of San Carries.
[1:16] We do still need to find a moderator.
[1:20] So, if anybody out there is interested in moderating, I know George said that he was done.
[1:29] So, if anybody has interested, please reach out.
[1:34] Treasure was elected.
[1:37] That is, Linda Hayver.
[1:39] School District Clerk.
[1:41] We have Asia.
[1:43] You received the most amount of nominations.
[1:47] We have accepted that.
[1:50] Correct.
[1:50] Are you accepting that?
[1:54] Yes.
[1:55] So I will take the emotion to a point.
[1:58] Asia, well-in-herst as school district clerk.
[2:00] Motion by Sherry.
[2:01] Second by Ed.
[2:02] Any other discussion?
[2:04] Seeing none.
[2:05] All in favor?
[2:06] Aye.
[2:08] carries.
[2:09] And executive secretary.
[2:15] As Mike currently.
[2:17] But it's generally just listening to the superintendent.
[2:19] Yes.
[2:19] will change as well. Okay, we can do as many times now, we can wait and do that after later.
[2:29] Yep, we can move on to that one, you know.
[2:40] Yeah, that's what it's going to do.
[2:42] So school policy time is policy VEA in our board packets.
[2:48] We have altered from that the last few months moving to five and 30.
[2:54] So, I think if we're happy with 530 and it doesn't seem to be an issue, I'd like to make
[3:00] a motion or take a motion to update policy BIA to the school where meetings be at 530.
[3:09] Motion by Ed 2nd by Jeremy, any other discussion there?
[3:14] Um, the only thing I wanted to ask about, and I don't know if this, I was looking at the
[3:20] policies and I don't know if it will fall under this one exactly, but the special meetings
[3:25] or emergency meetings, is that under the E.A.
[3:32] Because I saw that it did call out special meetings,
[3:42] but...
[3:42] We do have a policy for that.
[3:44] It changes the posting requirements.
[3:47] If it did emergency meetings, instead of setting clear post to days, that it gets...
[3:51] So, it's not under this specific policy.
[3:57] And I'm fine if we have to table that.
[3:59] I just wanted to request that moving forward.
[4:01] if we do have a special meeting or an emergency meeting,
[4:05] we've posted two places, but I'd also like the staff
[4:08] to have an email.
[4:10] Yep.
[4:13] So it's not, but we could bring that policy next month.
[4:19] I'll find the letters for that.
[4:21] Could that be?
[4:23] The E.B.
[4:24] The E.B.
[4:24] Thank you.
[4:25] Thank you.
[4:28] So the B.E.B will bring next months
[4:30] so that we can update and just add.
[4:32] Is there anything else in BA that you can see
[4:40] if none, I will take a, have a motion in a second to approve as amended?
[4:48] As a first reading, we just do it as an adoption for BA.
[4:54] Yeah, I think you're okay, I don't think you need to think you're just,
[4:57] which is updating the policy.
[4:59] So I have a motion in a second to update the policy.
[5:02] All in favor?
[5:03] any opposed to the same carries.
[5:07] All right, non-public session.
[5:10] So I will take a motion to go into non-public session.
[5:12] Motion by Jeremy.
[5:14] Second by Dev.
[5:17] Yes.
[5:17] Yes.
[5:18] Yes.
[5:19] In Jim.
[5:21] I have 632.
[5:23] We're back.
[5:23] Sorry for the delay.
[5:25] Action is all to non-public.
[5:27] The board approved summer enrichment staff,
[5:30] of Katie Gilmett and Tammy Flenagan for some enrichment.
[5:35] The board approved the nomination staff of the staff,
[5:39] and I'm going to read it out with the professional staff.
[5:43] Elizabeth Arsenal, Kim Bryant,
[5:45] Jamie Butler, Mary Dorty,
[5:46] Ryan Dune in these Ferguson, Tammy Flenagan,
[5:48] and Freddie Kifford.
[5:51] Take Gilmett, Diana Hayward, Christine McDonald,
[5:54] Kristen McDonnell, Laira Massey,
[5:56] Edemic Andrews, Sarah Rodriguez, Rachel Samier,
[5:59] for Charo, Stephanie and Stanley, the non-CVA staff, Jenna Cox, Holly Crocket, Heather Wooden,
[6:07] and the hourly staff, Tom Dicoto, Herschel Crosse, Savannah Bergstrom, Gretchen on Leesaker
[6:13] and Kathy Joe's Jackford, Heather O'Donnell, Jen Robinson, and Sherry Wittaker.
[6:19] All right, that was it.
[6:27] Public comments open seeing none.
[6:31] I don't see any right.
[6:32] That's not here.
[6:33] Nobody else should say that.
[6:34] All right.
[6:35] I just do this.
[6:37] One night, obviously, none of the town hall anymore.
[6:40] So I was wondering where we stood with the MOU for a wreck.
[6:42] Say, let's see anything on it.
[6:47] I don't, but they may have it.
[6:49] And they need decided I just saw that.
[6:50] I can answer your questions.
[6:54] I, after it was approved here, I gave it to Heather O'Donnell to present to the support for their approval.
[7:01] Okay, so they have it now.
[7:03] Good.
[7:03] Fair enough.
[7:06] One more topic.
[7:07] First of all, thank you guys for putting together the budget.
[7:09] Didn't go the way that I personally like to, but I know it's hard work, so thank you guys for that.
[7:14] and being the first in that motion to leave the library media
[7:18] specialist at full time, I would like to respectfully ask
[7:22] the board to find those cuts elsewhere
[7:25] and leave that position as full time if possible.
[7:28] I know it's tough.
[7:30] But I think the voters spoke into the deliberative session, and they'd like to see it remain that way.
[7:39] Others has left it all on Adam's shoulders tonight.
[7:45] Okay. Oh, shoot. Sorry. Back to action results, not public.
[7:52] The board appointed Wendy Lockhart to the superintendent.
[7:56] Sir, committee. Was that a committee?
[7:59] I just saw that as a look forward, and I've got to mention that. Sorry.
[8:07] All right, I'm going to leave public comment open probably agenda take a motion to approve the agenda
[8:14] Motion by Deb second by Ed any other discussion
[8:18] Seeing none all in favor hi carries
[8:23] Proval of the minutes of the March fifth school board meeting take a motion to approve motion by Deb second
[8:30] by Jeremy any discussion
[8:32] to
[8:35] none, all in favor, any opposed to abstaining housing.
[8:40] One abstention, Ed,
[8:43] and then I have the non-public minutes of March 5 as well.
[8:47] Take a motion to approve those, motion by Deb, second by Jeremy, any other discussion there.
[8:52] So none, all in favor, aye.
[8:55] Any opposed to abstaining housing?
[8:57] One abstention.
[8:59] Consent agenda of your principal's report, your enrollment board.
[9:02] You direct for student services report.
[9:05] Kind of middle school and high school principals reports,
[9:07] capital reserve fund balances.
[9:10] You have a copy of the capital reserve plan in there.
[9:13] Revenue is report and expenditure is report.
[9:15] It's quite lengthy.
[9:17] Anything you want to draw on.
[9:19] Take a note and discuss.
[9:25] I don't think taking out, but if you're asking.
[9:29] Pulled out for discussion?
[9:30] Yeah.
[9:31] I know this is a pain, it's a lot of work, but the enrollment, which pains you down on.
[9:40] It's on 13,
[9:45] we have here the enrollment for this year, I know it's too soon to get our numbers
[9:50] for next year,
[9:54] but should we put in North Star Academy and should we consider putting in
[9:58] through a academy
[10:02] because we have woodlands in frost and I imagine we may be missing some
[10:09] children.
[10:12] What is the breakthrough academy? It's the new one that's opening.
[10:16] It's in Chicago. We, we, we said I've had some meetings with Kim, their director, about
[10:25] special ed services and transportation.
[10:30] I know that they're finalizing enrollment,
[10:32] I'd be happy to get the board and update on what their projected enrollment might look like,
[10:38] but I would just caution that it would be a, you know, not some of the set you're watching by.
[10:44] But I can't see why adding them would be a bad thing.
[10:50] Just as we move forward, as we get numbers from them.
[10:55] They're two other.
[10:57] Yeah.
[10:58] I know it's getting difficult to report on all these pop-up charter schools.
[11:01] But it gives us the actuals.
[11:05] And do we monitor and check and make sure
[11:10] that the numbers on here coming from those schools
[11:13] are accurate to us?
[11:14] Two of the best of our ability, those things change a lot.
[11:16] And we don't have the same level of communication
[11:18] that we have with Canada obviously.
[11:20] But we do, to the earlier section,
[11:24] we do have meetings with those charter school directors.
[11:27] Some are, we communicate more than others, and having that conversation about enrollment does happen.
[11:35] So, yes, we can do that, but it's not going to be as
[11:40] timely as we get kind of numbers.
[11:42] What about homeschool students?
[11:44] So, homeschool, homeschool, the statute only requires homeschool students to declare that their homeschool one time, one time only.
[11:52] So, that number is only as good as the, you know, it's good data in good data out.
[11:57] So if we don't have good, if it's bad data, bad data out.
[12:00] So it's only as good as the information.
[12:02] So these are, these are, so it's become school students
[12:06] that we're living in Madison when they opted
[12:10] in two homes were right.
[12:11] They may not live here anymore.
[12:14] Or they could be others that should be on here
[12:17] that move from somewhere out to them.
[12:19] If you were a homeschooler, and I don't know,
[12:20] it makes nothing natural, and you come up here,
[12:22] and you never learn a public school system,
[12:24] and you come to Madison, and you don't.
[12:26] They may never declare here.
[12:28] Even for the EFA funds.
[12:30] That would be different.
[12:32] So if you want to access the EFA funds, then you have to go through a different process.
[12:35] So that has to be reported.
[12:37] That needs to be reported.
[12:38] So that would be updated.
[12:40] Just.
[12:42] And then we always want to access those funds right.
[12:45] Okay.
[12:47] I did have a question, but I was going to do it during the principal report about
[12:51] Okay.
[12:52] I'm going to give you a minute.
[12:53] If you have many.
[12:55] Don't find that.
[12:59] Yeah.
[12:59] I'm not having the updates on.
[13:01] Okay.
[13:01] Can I do it?
[13:02] I'll look it up and report for me.
[13:05] I can do it.
[13:07] Okay.
[13:09] All right.
[13:09] Anything else in the consent agenda?
[13:12] Take the motion to approve it.
[13:15] My depth.
[13:15] Second by Jeremy.
[13:16] Any other discussion?
[13:18] All in favor?
[13:20] Any closer.
[13:21] Okay.
[13:22] Okay.
[13:24] Get a guard for registration for 14.
[13:29] Dair graduation for 8 to 15 April break 27 through the 1st of May.
[13:37] Next regular school board meeting is the 4th of May for the 4th of May with us.
[13:43] All right.
[13:44] Let's get a few of that.
[13:45] 530 PM in this room here and the SOU9 13 joint board meeting is the 24th of May.
[13:52] at 6 p.m., and that's usually at the rest of the development center at the middle school.
[14:00] And the SEU 13 joint board meeting is June 22nd at the Madison Madison at 6 p.m.
[14:07] And while I'm on this, with Madison TV, we are acceptable to video SEU 13 joint board meetings.
[14:19] It was brought up at our last joint board meeting, and I said, I'd bring it up to you guys, and I totally forgot to write now and talk about it.
[14:28] If you could check.
[14:29] It's just a one set.
[14:30] There's generally four year.
[14:34] And it's usually once in Madison rotates.
[14:38] Maybe twice in Madison, but once in Danworth, once in Freedom.
[14:41] I don't see any problem right now.
[14:44] But I'm meeting on my board in May, and I'll bring it to them.
[14:47] And I'll get you the, I'll send you a copy of the S.U.S.
[14:49] 13 short points scheduled as well.
[14:52] It's in here.
[14:53] It's in here tonight.
[14:53] It's in here tonight.
[14:54] If you approve it.
[14:56] Thank you.
[15:00] All right. So now I have James, noise, memorial hall, plaque, cathodic.
[15:07] Yes? Hello. Hello.
[15:10] So those of you who don't know me, the name of this cathodic, my son, Benjamin Shackford, is a second
[15:15] greater here. And I'm a lieutenant with me, I'm sure, state police. This past year, when I came
[15:23] into vote, I had my son with me and I asked him, as we were coming through the auditorium, if
[15:29] knew who James noise was and he didn't. So I was a little bit disappointed and we looked
[15:35] for the plaque and I realized it's a really small and outdated plaque. So I went back
[15:40] to St. Police. We have 10 fallen troopers at New Hampshire St. Police. James noise is one
[15:46] of them. In every building and facility and troops station we have all of their plaques and
[15:53] We're big on plaques, let's say, please.
[15:56] So I went to the Trooper's Association
[15:58] and asked if they would support me coming forward
[16:02] to the Madison Elementary and to replace the plaques
[16:04] in some sort of way.
[16:07] And they are willing to entertain discussion
[16:09] of funding that project.
[16:11] So I wanted to throw it out there.
[16:15] As an option, we'd love for safe please to be able to,
[16:17] and this wouldn't be a safe please saying it literally
[16:19] would be for, you know, to replace the plaques
[16:22] in any way shape or form doesn't necessarily have to be about his association with
[16:28] as a state trooper but necessarily as I think the original plaque says like for the
[16:32] dedicated to the children of Madison or whatnot so I love that so I'm willing to
[16:39] help facilitate that and we're willing to pay for it and I wanted to throw it out there as an option
[16:46] and willing to work with whomever to be able to do that.
[16:49] Okay, I'm as a I think is a board I'd take a motion to approve that and then we can have
[16:55] Catch me with the building grounds committee
[17:00] Motion by Deb's second by Jeremy any other discussion
[17:05] Thank you for taking
[17:07] Thank you this right all in favor
[17:09] Aye any opposed from standing carries. So just reach out
[17:14] We're gonna do committee assignments later to the building grounds committee and
[17:20] Thank you.
[17:21] Thank
[17:23] you.
[17:23] That's all for what?
[17:25] All right.
[17:25] So we'll start with that.
[17:26] Staff presentation.
[17:28] We'll wait in here for a patient.
[17:30] Thank you.
[17:32] So part of their leadership team discussion this year has been about trying to
[17:37] present to the board.
[17:38] This is our first one.
[17:42] And we've been focusing on literacy and seeing some some good games since
[17:48] letters, instruction, training that our staff are taking.
[17:53] So they're going to present, and I'm just going to make a note
[17:55] to community members, board members, that we aren't taking questions
[17:59] tonight, because they've worked hard to create a presentation.
[18:02] We don't want to catch any of them off guard.
[18:04] So the last slide really says, if you have questions to send them
[18:07] to the superintendent, and he won't go away,
[18:09] then we'll get answers either in our board packet,
[18:12] or present at the next meeting.
[18:15] All right, so I'm starting to saw if I'm dying to hear your word a few years ago, the
[18:21] DOE came to us with the idea of letters training and a couple of staff people got involved
[18:28] in it and then quickly after it, just kind of like being momentum in the whole school.
[18:33] And so many staff power professionals, teachers and administrators were sort of immersed
[18:39] in life.
[18:39] So just a real quick overview for that is the volume one.
[18:43] There's two volumes.
[18:45] Volume one has used one through four and each unit has sessions.
[18:49] So there's eight sessions each unit and there's six sessions
[18:53] and each unit we're volume two.
[18:56] And each session takes about 15 hours.
[18:59] So it was a big portion, it was a big time commitment.
[19:05] And you had to sort of stay with the pace of the course.
[19:08] So there was on average, like I said, 15 hours.
[19:13] There was reading activities, online activities,
[19:15] and classroom application practices.
[19:19] So when you take a look at all the people that
[19:21] took advantage of it, it really was super beneficial
[19:23] and we're starting to see some of the games
[19:26] from a lot of that work now.
[19:30] So some of the takeaways from volume one,
[19:32] which was really geared more towards phonics
[19:36] for you to go on this, phonological awareness was understanding the challenges of reading, learning
[19:42] about the speech sounds of English and the importance of phonological skill development, and then
[19:47] what skills need to be taught in ways to assess phonological skills. So it was like I said, it was
[19:53] phonics sort of beginning phonics word recognition and spelling, and then it took it into advanced
[19:58] decoding and encoding and word recognition. So really that learning to read peace, getting
[20:04] kids where they where they can be on that foundational level and then also
[20:09] ways to intervene on the different levels. And then the second volume, after
[20:13] kids became fluid and learning to focus on language comprehension, the
[20:19] importance of understanding vocabulary and how to teach vocabulary, ways to
[20:23] create like language origin classrooms, ways to identify, you know, some of the
[20:29] is that kids face and why are they miscompring and comprehending information, and then teachers
[20:37] learn all about different comprehension strategies, questioning techniques, how to adapt,
[20:42] and scaffold, to support comprehension. So then we've done that for real-time meetings.
[20:47] So basic takeaways for me, from the teacher, the teacher, in addition was just the importance
[20:53] of phonological awareness at all levels, foundation, additional, and intensive, and then understanding
[21:01] the progression of skills needed to learn, to decode, and to learn to read.
[21:05] And then, once the students are fluent decores and encoders, shifting the focus towards language
[21:09] comprehension.
[21:10] So, once the students, once the kids are fluent, I know all of the rules, then they
[21:15] It could move towards being independent writers, and you know, as well, that influence
[21:20] because that letter took all of us to an end.
[21:29] Letters was easily the best professional development.
[21:33] I think I've ever taken and once a bunch of us had taken it, the next question was, well, now,
[21:42] now, what do we do with all that information that we've gained?
[21:45] So, we committed, as a staff, to make sure that every student case through three was getting fundations, and that's the phonics program we use here, to teach them all those rules about how letters worked and how words worked, and with that, being intentional about starting to use decodable readers, so in the past, most of the books you learned to read with were predictive.
[22:15] and they followed a pattern, and you could guess some of the words to make it make sense,
[22:21] but now using more of a jacotable lens, I'm not putting a book in front of a student,
[22:26] unless I've explicitly taught you the skills you need to read.
[22:32] It's more intentional. It builds a confidence faster. We're also using jacotables that not only align with our foundation's program that we use, but also the arts and letters, language arts, curriculum that we've started to use this year as well. So it falls right in line. The topics are the same. The scope and sequence mimics each other, and that's really helpful as well.
[22:57] In addition, in kindergarten, they're also receiving
[23:00] Heager at Eucalyte Heager these time every day.
[23:04] It's five to seven minutes, and it's just oral
[23:06] Phenemic Awareness.
[23:08] So like for today, example, one of the tasks was
[23:12] to delete, delete sounds in a word, so say flip,
[23:17] now say flip, but take away that, and it's repetitive,
[23:22] and it's almost like a drill, and it really,
[23:25] We see fantastic results from it.
[23:33] We use what we call the MTSS model here which stands for multi-tiered systems of support.
[23:41] We use this model to address the needs of all children in all their aspects of learning, including academic, social, emotional, and behavior.
[23:51] This model is based on universal screening and progress monitoring, multi-tier systems of support and data-driven decision-making.
[24:02] So that's the base of MTSS.
[24:06] So we move that towards, it's in three levels.
[24:09] We move that to the universal level, which is called universal support.
[24:14] And that includes research-based curriculum, program materials, and highly impactful instructional practices.
[24:23] And then here at MES, our Literacy Instruction in K3, that would include the great lines of videos that K3 described.
[24:32] It's the integrity, it's the fundations, which is K33, which is another phonics based program and other resources, either as a whole group or as my group.
[24:48] The second level is additional supports where instruction and support is based on the students needs.
[24:55] This instruction is meant to be timely and uses evidence-based resources.
[25:03] An example of a program is just words, which helps the kids with spelling and sounding out words.
[25:11] And our strategy is to include different instructions.
[25:15] We change it a little bit.
[25:17] I think on the students' needs, forward learning styles,
[25:20] a small group instruction, and then tutoring, which happens mostly in the morning, there are many children
[25:27] come in and get a little more tutoring in, reading in.
[25:34] And then the third level is called the Intesified Support.
[25:39] This varies based on student needs.
[25:42] And it can include specialized instructions.
[25:44] So the example is the Wilson or Lips, that's a program that for the used,
[25:50] that includes speech services, and then again tutoring,
[25:54] that would be a possibility.
[26:01] All right, so the end result.
[26:03] Since the introduction of letters, what we've seen
[26:05] is a great improvement in student test scores,
[26:08] historically we have discharge students from services.
[26:11] Usually in fifth or sixth grade,
[26:13] we are now seeing a trend shifting towards an earlier discharge.
[26:17] Some great examples.
[26:18] I have a board grade student who is discharged from all special education not just each
[26:23] in language in March of this year.
[26:27] So in 2023 his scores, I'm from the logical awareness test, we're below average and now
[26:34] in 2026 both of his scores, I've got the test that I administered to him and his scores
[26:39] are in the solid of the average range, and again across the board this child was able
[26:43] to be discharged to additional students, one-third and one-fourth grader have potential
[26:47] for discharge from at least each in language services, a fourth grader who is
[26:53] phonological skills progressed from the below average range. His scores were
[26:56] more than one standard deviation below the average in 2023.
[27:01] They are now within the solid the average range.
[27:04] And as Diana mentioned, letters also has that language component, which I'm seeing
[27:07] great success. This particular student I'm talking about three years ago.
[27:12] His receptive language skills were more than one standard deviation below the
[27:16] is expressive language with two standard deviations below the mean.
[27:19] So significant, his language skills currently are already in this hall of the average age.
[27:24] The third grader in 2023, his receptive language skills were in the border line range.
[27:30] So more than one standard deviation below the mean expressive again were in the low range with two standard deviations below the mean.
[27:36] He also had articulation difficulties.
[27:39] At that time services focus on those language skills and the articulation before the phonological awareness piece came in.
[27:45] The phonological awareness piece came in in March of 2024 when specialized instruction was introduced after
[27:53] whose academic assessment.
[27:55] At that time, his actual phonological awareness skills were in the average range, but what we
[27:59] told is phonological memory were in the four range, and they were now all solid and
[28:04] I think
[28:07] it's a good thing.
[28:09] I think it's a good thing.
[28:09] 14.
[28:14] Oh, this is me.
[28:15] I think it's a good thing.
[28:17] Sorry.
[28:19] So this is just our starting date of grades 1 through 6.
[28:23] And this is mine and sort of post-led or strange pre-led or strange.
[28:27] And even numbers are released because of themselves.
[28:29] If you look at that, when you're 25 to 26, the jumps are an intervention
[28:34] in the, you know, the drops, on launch, intervention, and above.
[28:42] So we're seeing what we could result from the work.
[28:51] Thank you. Thank you.
[28:52] Thank you.
[28:53] Thank you.
[28:58] So we will put it on the website.
[29:00] I want to present first.
[29:01] And so we will put on the website.
[29:03] I want to present first.
[29:04] I want to present first.
[29:05] If you, if you access it and have questions,
[29:07] to submit them to the superintendent and the question manager.
[29:14] Thank you.
[29:15] Appreciate it.
[29:18] Other building updates.
[29:20] So as far as coming on registration currently and we're still accepting
[29:23] registrations because we had someone call today.
[29:26] We have seven scheduled.
[29:27] We have three in preschool.
[29:30] We're doing a little bit differently this year with preschool
[29:32] that we did last year because last year was our first year.
[29:34] So we don't need them to come in to do the screening because we already know them as students
[29:39] So it's more of just assigning up. So we're looking at 10 freaking a garden at this moment
[29:45] So which is a pretty good number and we're I
[29:49] Don't think we've captured everybody, but we have people that wasn't on it that wasn't on our list
[29:56] Continue to keep doing a push for people to sign up
[30:00] We know we always have folks that don't realize that they should sign up until it's August.
[30:05] Okay, take any of the way. Other building updates, the performances last week are absolutely phenomenal.
[30:13] If you missed it, then please make sure you catch it on Matt TV. They were there, Thursday night, to record.
[30:21] So it is just so incredible to work that comes together between the staff working with these kids.
[30:27] Diana Bowie as choreographer helping out because it was a musical, so it was really wonderful.
[30:33] We had a great community lunch. Miss Janet pulls it out every time. This year I think there's the least stressful community lunch.
[30:42] And even because we're down and employee because the freedom person is not available.
[30:47] So yeah, we pulled it off.
[30:48] To be fair, somebody who offered to come help.
[30:50] We forgot to show up.
[30:52] That wasn't me.
[30:54] It was me.
[30:55] I mean, it was long stress, I mean, everything went great, so it was fantastic and we're
[31:02] just thankful for people coming and celebrating with us.
[31:06] And lastly, just a shout out to our PTO, we are small, but we are maybe, and they're doing
[31:10] some great stuff for our school, the May Fundraiser calendar fundraisers are a big one that's
[31:15] coming up.
[31:15] Our cake auction is May 17th and they have a family bingo night with pizza dinner this Friday
[31:22] at 5.30? I think? 5.30? Yeah, 5.30. So just a lot of great things happening for kids, families,
[31:31] all around. I think any questions for Heather? The play was great. It was when I
[31:39] cried in the night, so it was really great to see continuing. So I think that was good.
[31:46] And then the only other thing that I'm going to ask is when you get to your board, Officer
[31:49] community assignments. I'm choosing to step down from the Master Plan Stern Committee and I would
[31:56] highly recommend that it be a school or a member of that service on that committee. I don't feel
[32:01] like it's my place as a non-resident to make some decisions and they need someone to make decisions
[32:06] and to have votes and I don't feel like that's my place as a non-resident. I'm happy to give input,
[32:11] facilitate things, conversations, whatever that is, gather data that I did talk with Tia
[32:18] at their form last Saturday.
[32:21] So I'm hoping that you'll choose to add that to your list
[32:24] and that someone will step into that.
[32:25] It's one meeting.
[32:26] I'm on this the first Wednesday from 5.30 to 6.30
[32:29] at the town hall.
[32:31] And there were some parents that are here tonight.
[32:34] That were at that community forum.
[32:35] And I'd great thanks to say a lot of it.
[32:40] Anything else?
[32:43] OK.
[32:46] Nothing in Grounds.
[32:52] Do we mean Ed, we picked up a lot of the wood that was all by the shed, get rid of a lot of that.
[33:01] Get a lot of tree work out there.
[33:06] I'm doing a lot of upgrades here and there.
[33:17] So the generator, park is planned for April vacation, roughly ending any sicknesses or anything else.
[33:23] So we'll have the telecom fed, and then we have the decision to renovate the downstairs bathrooms.
[33:29] So we're working on that RFP as the bigger project for this summer.
[33:34] Please, we see it.
[33:35] Those ones there.
[33:36] To do both of them.
[33:38] That was going to be a total remodel key.
[33:46] Just the blister pump? Where it was leaking?
[33:50] Oh, yeah. So we are and I've already have the purchase order all set so that's getting
[33:54] replaced. Yeah, so this it's weeping a little bit so we're going to get it fixed correctly
[33:58] so that we can also isolate it and try it off. The event does a problem. Is that the one just as
[34:04] you're walking on the right? I'll see that still. Yeah. Yeah, well if we decided to do the
[34:09] We're going to do it all.
[34:13] Yeah.
[34:13] Perfect.
[34:17] Perfect.
[34:20] Thank you.
[34:22] Corner schoolhouse.
[34:24] I've been sitting on there.
[34:26] They've met.
[34:27] They're still moving forward.
[34:28] They're working on the Alchip grants again.
[34:33] They've been very active in doing a great job.
[34:37] I made the last meeting, I haven't made many in the last six, eight months,
[34:44] but they're moving forward
[34:45] Nancy and the whole team have been doing a great job looking at grants and grant funding and trying to figure out where to go with it.
[34:54] So I think that's all I have there, Tammy, can I miss anything? Sorry to throw you a corner school house, anything?
[35:01] I think we've still continued, I missed the last minute or half of the minute.
[35:08] I have the choreography practice, but I think we can continue to be certain.
[35:15] Grants that we're getting a plan that we can pay for, partially by brand, because we're talking by our own fund,
[35:23] that will allow us to apply for more grants.
[35:26] So we're getting that preservation report together.
[35:31] And so that's going to open up a lot of opportunities, I think, for what's as well.
[35:35] And the other $25,000 that was approved this year, to go to that helps as well to go to matching
[35:41] grant funds.
[35:46] Questions?
[35:48] Okay.
[35:51] Student Services Director, update.
[35:55] Yes, on page 14 you'll find Lisa's report.
[36:00] First part of that report talks about extended
[36:03] We're going to be here with a full run July 6th to August 5th Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 9 a.m.
[36:09] 12 p.m.
[36:10] We'll be here at Madison Elementary.
[36:13] We have our BCBA Gen Ben.
[36:16] We'll be coordinating summer school.
[36:18] I guess why this year.
[36:20] And we are currently accepting letters and applications to work.
[36:24] So if you're anxious to come spend the summer with us,
[36:29] please send in your applications to Gen Ben.
[36:32] And currently our case managers are gathering up our student registrations to make sure we are ready to hit the ground running.
[36:40] The second part of this report, you'll find the case loads and identification for students' case through 12 on that table.
[36:49] And then finally, Lisa gave a little update on preschool.
[36:58] And you have to add a number of hours on here.
[37:01] Sure.
[37:02] That's one point.
[37:03] And I do another one.
[37:04] So we have data.
[37:10] And to add point, we haven't done a student services report in the packet.
[37:16] Consistently.
[37:17] So that's something we're really striving to continue to do.
[37:21] If there are things that you'd like to see in that report, please let myself
[37:24] or at least know when we'll make that happen.
[37:27] Thank you.
[37:27] Thank you.
[37:28] it.
[37:29] It's helpful.
[37:30] All
[37:33] right. Any other questions or comments? Special end. Lieutenant, okay. Have a show.
[37:44] Okay, must be short. If the fund out, it is April. I do my best, but I'm sure this will change on the coming months.
[37:53] That is a pretty large fund out and it did not surprise me. We had, and what we were anticipating to be in our district placement that never happened.
[38:02] they were able to work some magic and keep the student in regular school.
[38:09] District, we have two unfilip teaching positions and other benefits to go with that.
[38:15] Then in general, I do find this district more so than any of the others watches what
[38:22] they spend in quotes out before they commit to buy you.
[38:26] So we will have a fairly large fund balance.
[38:30] I didn't put much in for discussion.
[38:33] We have the one special Edward article to be paid from fund balance at 15,000.
[38:38] Everything else was from local appropriation, if it passed.
[38:42] So there will be a fair amount going back to the town.
[38:46] I don't know if I would end more.
[38:48] March is kind of our make a break month when it comes to special ed.
[38:52] it's the long month. It takes, we have some schools or special providers that have not
[38:58] built such January. Usually in some time in April, they get caught up in May as a little
[39:05] bit better looking. It's a lot easier to forecast one month out than two or three.
[39:09] So, what is better is it goes?
[39:11] When does Conway usually build it? They used to build us right at the beginning. I don't think
[39:15] we've gotten our mid year buildings for Conway and that is one that worries me.
[39:19] Okay,
[39:21] I know that that one's always been kind of it obviously it's not I don't think it's going to be
[39:25] Let's cover up in low and I have heard that there's a different way of tracking and at least I thought they were low
[39:31] Perhaps they were not staffed. I could be part of it as well
[39:35] But we have not seen the midyear one yet
[39:39] So that is not reflected in here. We've encountered some money, but we have no idea for on target
[39:44] Okay, does this also include
[39:49] And I mean those, those may not materialize, but I was pretty conservative on the anticipated revenue.
[40:02] No.
[40:03] Public comment again.
[40:05] Okay.
[40:07] Questions?
[40:10] I just see really bad.
[40:12] But you explain why.
[40:17] All right, any other questions for how to have a few of anything else for us?
[40:29] I'm on to the superintendent.
[40:30] All right.
[40:31] First item, I've been in touch with School Board Association with Barrett and Kathy.
[40:38] Kathy was a former superintendent of Governor Woodworth as a sophomore for School Board Association.
[40:43] So the idea is what I'd like to propose to the Board is to have Barrett and Kathy come to speak to you about the strategic planning process.
[40:50] What that entails from start to finish and then the price tag that accompanies that so I have two dates
[40:57] It is May 4th or June 1st
[41:01] Let me know what you like and I will do my best to make that happen. Hey May 4th meeting
[41:11] Did they tell you about what the price tag looks like?
[41:15] It's, yeah, I would say, we're going to have some money with that fun balance, but I'd say we're looking at probably 10 to 15,000.
[41:27] Don't take that as gospel, but that's kind of what I was able to say.
[41:31] You're paycheck.
[41:31] Fair enough.
[41:32] All right.
[41:32] All right.
[41:33] I guess next year's paycheck.
[41:37] Yeah.
[41:37] That means you cut us.
[41:38] Yes.
[41:39] I'm going to write over that with it.
[41:40] Like a big man with a big card like that.
[41:44] Okay, because, and
[41:50] I know we've been talking, I know we started talking about this kind
[41:54] of late in the game this year, but about how to get it done sooner rather than later,
[41:58] because I think it is important that we figure out how to do it sooner rather than later,
[42:03] especially with our supernatal leaving, then you start a new administration, and you start
[42:09] changes and and all these other things that then it's getting caught up to speed to start the process
[42:18] Other ways Heather under the school board
[42:23] Function in our budget that we might be able to make this work and you don't have to give us an answer now
[42:28] I can look for that. There are some unspent ponds in the school board function
[42:32] 15,000
[42:33] Maybe not. Okay, but it might be worth looking at. I know we've talked about because if we
[42:40] if we wait and go through a couple budgets, I do a budget cycle to get to there. It's going to be a year
[42:47] over year before we can get started. And this will not be a weekend, as I said before, it's not a
[42:53] weekend project. This is going to something that takes months to do and will last you probably five
[42:59] So, this is not something that is a very important document to it to be had for a superintendent, for a school board to help guide you where you're going and to Jim's earlier points on your at the right time to do all those things.
[43:12] Yeah, and I think a lot of this came out of discussion with the budget committee of how, you know, what do you plans to do with empty classroom?
[43:21] What do you plan? You know, when do you when do you want to close the school? When do you want to make these decisions and make these things happen?
[43:29] So any agreements? It's something we all need to look at and we've talked with the joint board about how do we do that with with the other two towns as well?
[43:42] Let's get there in here and maybe maybe fourth
[43:46] I will see if we can make that happen confirm the email with all of you. Thank you
[43:51] Well, we haven't made it on it.
[43:53] What's up?
[43:54] We haven't made it on it.
[43:54] Right, but what you know, if it's going to be on the agenda.
[43:57] All right.
[44:01] Next, I have the proposed 2627 calendar.
[44:05] There is one that is the student school calendar.
[44:09] And then there's the other that is the school board meeting calendar.
[44:17] And if you have the black and white version,
[44:20] it might be hard to tell what's what.
[44:22] But for the most part, Madison is the first month of the month.
[44:28] Correct.
[44:32] The only thing on the student calendar is,
[44:39] I believe in November 6th of the election day.
[44:44] I really liked when the kids were here on election day.
[44:47] I mean, I thought it was great when the kids could go down.
[44:50] to see the process. I know that change that was a directive from the state back a couple of years ago.
[45:01] It was one year not to do it, and we didn't, and then we've kind of pulled it out.
[45:08] Personally, I think it's a good day of lesson for the kids. At least one or some of our election,
[45:18] because I know this is the state general elections, but then we also have the town elections.
[45:26] So, one of the other right-brothers, the kids here at the school, just so that it can be
[45:32] with, in the business of educating them.
[45:37] That's only my thought, but I don't know.
[45:40] I agree.
[45:41] Yeah, I think the less we pull them out the better they are.
[45:46] So, is there?
[45:47] We will need to, if the board does choose to do that, which is totally your purview.
[45:51] We would need to find another spot for that parent teacher conference day.
[45:54] believe the 8th just for not I'm not suggesting that we we don't do that we absolutely can find another spot for that
[46:01] But I believe the 8th is also state elections and September 8th I'm correct
[46:06] So they are in school that day. Yes, I think it's the first day. They come back
[46:13] No number of parent comfort states also a day off
[46:16] Teacher works up to in Conway
[46:19] I just said that one is a common way to do try to match things with common way to the ticket conscious effort to try to do so.
[46:26] Do you do, is it parents, teacher conferences, or is it mostly led by the students part of the conferences?
[46:35] I will let Heather speak to that, but I believe that there's some elements that depends on your grade level if it's student lead or
[46:40] They are typically student lead because I just say I'm like that.
[46:43] If they're leading their conferences, they are still going to be coming here.
[46:50] I mean, the other one could be the March, which is the town elections.
[46:56] So, as long as there's one on here for next year that they're in the building,
[47:00] I'd be happy with them and possibly looking at future years to make sure that we build the calendar that way.
[47:08] It's just a thought of mine.
[47:09] Yeah, I think it's good.
[47:11] Okay, understood.
[47:14] So I will take a motion to approve the 2627 calendar by Jeremy.
[47:21] Second by Ed, any other discussion on favor?
[47:26] Aye.
[47:27] Any opposed?
[47:28] Okay.
[47:30] All right.
[47:33] School board meeting calendar.
[47:34] We really don't need to approve that, but there is.
[47:37] Let's see.
[47:38] Um, there's one month I was thinking that
[47:44] time where we got me to the 14th, just the way the day's well.
[47:48] Right.
[47:49] That's true.
[47:49] I think that promise.
[47:52] No.
[47:54] No.
[47:55] I mean, I think that's fine.
[47:56] That's the first rather than the holiday.
[48:00] No opposition to that.
[48:03] Take a motion to approve the school board calendar.
[48:06] Motion by Jeremy, second by Deb, any other discussion?
[48:09] Seeing none all in favor?
[48:11] All right.
[48:12] Any opposed to him say?
[48:13] Okay, all right, thank you.
[48:18] First student, this was just a communication from first student. Yes, and the reason I put this in here is because there were some talks of first student going on strike and I know there was some concerns about how that would impact transportation.
[48:30] And so, the letter that's in your packet is actually just talking about about the, that this wouldn't really interrupt service, even if they went on strike because of our region, and then since then I've also got a follow-up letter that was dated on the 31st that they're pleased to share that they've reached constructive dialogue at the table, and they've reached a tentative agreement.
[48:52] So we are going to be a good shape, and the reason I bring that to Tam, excuse me, the reason I bring that to Madison is because both Madison and Tam worth will be using for student next year.
[49:00] The last thing we want to do is start a school year with a new transportation company without
[49:05] transportation.
[49:08] They're off.
[49:11] Okay.
[49:13] School of Policy, BC, and I put this in the boards packet, just as a guiding document, I
[49:18] know we're going to have a school board training on June 22nd that will be for the full
[49:25] joint board.
[49:26] So I put this policy in the packet, just as a, I think it really encompasses and is a good framework for our board members to be aware of.
[49:37] We'll probably be looking at a number of policies as this training approaches.
[49:42] And yes, I know being a school board member is not an easy job, and this is a great document to familiarize yourself with when difficult situations arise.
[49:51] Okay. No, I should be taking a minute.
[49:53] No, okay.
[49:57] School of Business.
[50:00] Second reading of policies.
[50:05] Me in minutes.
[50:06] So B-E-E-D-G. Me in minutes,
[50:10] kind of proposed policies are both in the packet.
[50:16] Any questions there?
[50:20] I think I know we have some discussion about it.
[50:23] I just wanted to make sure that I understand the first paragraph of, is there a number
[50:37] associated with that kind?
[50:50] It just came up at the last minute, I don't know if it's under B approval and access to
[50:54] minutes.
[50:59] No, go to page 51, number 4,
[51:05] that's where I highlighted, don't know if that's.
[51:08] Yes, it's that section.
[51:10] So, I know, now we're getting the minutes ahead of time, which is great, but I notice
[51:17] it does say board members may, since the gesture changes back to the minute recorder.
[51:25] Is it possible that if things aren't caught early, we can still make changes when we're
[51:30] at our meeting?
[51:31] Yes.
[51:32] And I would say, I think, in the spirit of what this is to capture the minutes of the meeting.
[51:40] I think if there's grammatical changes, things like that, let's get them to middle and not waste.
[51:44] Time dealing with that and I get it.
[51:47] They make sense to some people who don't read string on sentences like myself.
[51:55] But if there are contextual changes, like at the joint board, there was a question
[52:01] about one of the board members that I don't think I voted
[52:04] in favor of that.
[52:05] It allowed some discussion to say, no, don't you remember,
[52:10] oh, yeah, I did, okay.
[52:12] Something like that, we need to do that in meeting,
[52:15] but I think other stuff doesn't matter as much.
[52:20] To the, but if it's about, I think we miss this in the mess.
[52:26] That would be captured.
[52:27] I think it gives me something.
[52:30] And that either is not clear or a question of whether it's accurate or not.
[52:37] We still can come here and make change.
[52:39] I think that's where we should make the change.
[52:45] Because let's just say, Deb, you look at the minutes and say,
[52:51] made a motion to do this, and Sherry's second at it, but I heard it differently, and I send
[52:57] Janet and say, this, you said, now we've got conflicting that I don't think we can do because
[53:06] that everything has to get added to you. Then it becomes even a longer piece of stuff.
[53:11] Right, so I didn't know if it needed to be more clear that the changes that would be made without
[53:20] copying the others would only, would not change the substance of correct.
[53:26] Inside it, I feel like this, if we've talked about it, is clear now, but I just
[53:33] wanted to make sure that we were all on the same page that really the change that we
[53:39] could give back to Janet before the meaning would be minor things and then anything that
[53:47] and substance to whether there's interpretation,
[53:51] we would do here.
[53:53] Yes, okay.
[53:55] So that's right.
[53:56] Makes sense.
[53:57] Policy committee.
[53:59] Make sense.
[53:59] Sure.
[54:01] I did have a question as well.
[54:03] In one of the sections,
[54:07] the public minute show also reflect
[54:10] the object objecting member's name,
[54:14] statement that that member objected.
[54:17] When we've objected here, we haven't had to make statements of why.
[54:22] We haven't made rationale.
[54:24] We definitely could.
[54:27] And some RCC should.
[54:30] That's what I'm asking, is this saying that you're supposed to be doing that or not?
[54:43] So, my...
[54:45] I have no problem going to the spirit of how this reads.
[54:50] But right, so let's say you abstain from a vote.
[54:53] We're going to know which 91A it falls within to be able to say it.
[54:58] I think it's my question.
[55:01] You know, is that so that's saying that you would reference the provisions of RSA in
[55:10] 91A3 that was the basis for the objection?
[55:15] You can request, yes, I believe you can request a board member at any time to say why you object to that.
[55:20] Okay, but we don't have to.
[55:25] I'm just going to say you have to.
[55:26] I can request.
[55:27] Because I know on other boards, I think the budget can many of somebody abstain.
[55:32] You can ask.
[55:33] You can ask.
[55:34] The person to say why.
[55:37] That's how I feel like I read it here.
[55:39] I'm not sure if we should change that or.
[55:43] Or if the flaw we should be doing it.
[55:46] Right.
[55:47] Right.
[55:47] That's what I'm trying to get out.
[55:49] Can I just ask the point of order to make this?
[55:53] Where you're at, it says reference to the note, says C section D. I don't see a section D in this policy.
[56:04] Unless I've missed it, I just do.
[56:07] Because I was thinking that might give you more clarity, but I don't see a section D.
[56:20] What's on the policy?
[56:22] Well, when the policy committee moved this forward, there was an option to go.
[56:28] If we remember correctly, there was an option to move a version of this policy forward, or you
[56:35] could not adopt it, and we have to believe the policy's committee's recommendation was not
[56:38] to adopt that change, which we would have dropped.
[56:43] So you should just strike that.
[56:44] It's in your own policy too, that same statement, and there's no D. So yeah.
[56:50] So should we title this until we, or just the first reading, or just the first reading?
[56:56] And then we could have to come back with that stricken format, which in little more clarification
[57:03] of those as to if it is required or if it is just merely a recommendation.
[57:20] will take on motion to approve as a first reading with changes to come back to us, motion
[57:26] by Ed 2nd by Jeremy, we did it at the, that was a very convoluted meeting.
[57:35] So why don't we table this? Yes. Until next meeting, I think we've
[57:40] tappled it once already. Well, we, we have the first meeting in January. I'm not sure
[57:45] we wanted to suck it. No, that's right. We, we were talking about changing the number
[57:54] days, but we questioned the attorney, but we couldn't. We couldn't change that and I think
[58:01] maybe we did. But I don't think that was Jim or I think that was delivered if because you
[58:05] didn't have a attorney at public hearing, right? It was.
[58:11] I don't think you had a doctor. I don't think you had a doctor for street. That's what I've
[58:24] So yes, let's table it and bring it back.
[58:28] I mean, the way this reads also is it's talking about the subject matter being discussed.
[58:32] We're not talking about a phone.
[58:33] He's talking about, like, hey, we're talking about, I don't know.
[58:38] We're talking about facilities.
[58:39] Someone says, I have Jack talking about that.
[58:41] And we've got to say, why you object to that specific issue.
[58:46] That's the subject matter you're talking about.
[58:48] It's just not an actual phone.
[58:53] And it's an objection, not an abstention.
[58:55] It
[58:59] doesn't say it's a no vote.
[59:01] Right, just a little bit.
[59:02] Thank you, Jack, to talk about it.
[59:08] Sorry.
[59:09] Just because you cleaned up.
[59:10] So, is it a table or a table?
[59:13] Until next month, to at least the D is removed from there
[59:17] that it referenced is not going to figure out where this is.
[59:19] Right, we're fine.
[59:20] We're just seeing it.
[59:21] No, that's from, that's, I do recall.
[59:24] Because we put this for, like this was probably in January.
[59:29] So, but there was an option to choose.
[59:30] How do you can't you page it miss it that choose X or Y especially for the way you report out of
[59:35] non-public minutes and it was because if you report out the actions of like how we do that's
[59:40] what this board shows and you can go into different levels of that so that goes with that set.
[59:46] And you did and looking at the minutes from January you did do it as a first rate in January.
[59:51] Okay, I don't know if that was right up.
[59:53] Should we do the second minute, deliver it up?
[59:56] Yeah, I think that's what I'm talking about.
[59:58] That's what I'm talking about.
[59:59] Yes, we take it.
[1:00:01] We didn't discuss it last. We didn't bring the policy forward, draft meeting.
[1:00:11] Okay.
[1:00:14] E8 AG.
[1:00:16] Use a general artificial intelligence.
[1:00:20] This was a very interesting news.
[1:00:23] Super-drive, little change, weekly.
[1:00:26] Yeah, a tech world at all.
[1:00:28] It changes daily sometimes.
[1:00:30] Yep.
[1:00:32] I guess the only questions I had on it.
[1:00:35] Actually, I put a motion to approve this first reading on the floor.
[1:00:39] It's already been read.
[1:00:39] It had, so this is a motion to approve, motion two dollars, motion by, add second by Sherry discussion.
[1:00:52] Just, you said it was already read once, but I thought it wasn't in the packet.
[1:00:57] When we were supposed to read it.
[1:00:59] That was why I'm questioning, I'm just seeing it says Mark Smith.
[1:01:03] Yeah, when we went to read it, remember it wasn't in the packet.
[1:01:06] Could this would actually be appropriate?
[1:01:08] I think it what I could be totally wrong way I remember it was it was in the packet that we didn't get to it because it was
[1:01:15] Nope, we didn't have it there for reason and
[1:01:19] I could be right that's how I recall it like I could be the minutes say that that it was
[1:01:25] deferred to the next meeting so there was no acceptance
[1:01:28] So resend your motion
[1:01:36] Second I'll take a motion to prove the first reading
[1:01:39] Second.
[1:01:41] Okay.
[1:01:42] Now, discussion.
[1:01:46] I just mentioned, I just looked through the guidelines for teachers, and AI, district
[1:01:50] personnel, teachers, may only use generator AI tools that have been formally approved
[1:01:56] by the district or school, is there a
[1:02:04] procedure in place to approve?
[1:02:07] Okay,
[1:02:11] teachers will participate in district-provided training on AI literacy and responsible classroom integration is there a training.
[1:02:23] Look, we'll build that into is either a opening day piece or push it out through any time
[1:02:28] so it's training so we have throughout the year.
[1:02:31] I'm not sure if you like it, but this is very much filled with them.
[1:02:33] And the wrong.
[1:02:35] Kicking and screaming?
[1:02:37] No, not necessarily, but usually, I think it doesn't get involved with policy, too, sir.
[1:02:41] Got much.
[1:02:43] In short, compliance should be monitored by the IT director.
[1:02:50] There are policies and procedures in place to be able to monitor.
[1:02:56] Yes, we have the ability to whitelist and blacklist sites that are not approved.
[1:03:04] The main driver for that, especially for teacher use, would be things that don't, that aren't in one of their data privacy agreement.
[1:03:16] Any other questions?
[1:03:18] The motion in the second on the floor for first reading all in favor. Any opposed or anything.
[1:03:28] You have school association training.
[1:03:31] We have June 22nd.
[1:03:34] I think we need that in somewhere out already.
[1:03:36] But just June 22nd.
[1:03:39] This is the date that Eric has on the calendar for us.
[1:03:42] And he will be reaching out to me prior to.
[1:03:47] So if there's anything that four members would like to see,
[1:03:51] specifically in that training, or want to highlight,
[1:03:53] or you, you know, emphasis on,
[1:03:55] let me know, and I'll definitely give a time and look at it.
[1:03:58] Madison, next school board meeting.
[1:04:01] Join four meetings, 6 p.m. Madison,
[1:04:05] can we talk about meeting for earlier?
[1:04:08] We did talk about the idea of meeting an hour earlier.
[1:04:12] We did it, okay, so I'm going to put it out there for five o'clock.
[1:04:16] Yeah, I haven't set a specific time other than it's going to be, I don't care when they,
[1:04:22] when they, if they want to come in six, it's fine if it works in their schedule, but if we start
[1:04:26] five, then we could be, got done with the general meter by six.
[1:04:29] Yeah, that's, I did, I thought we talked about it, but I don't remember.
[1:04:33] No, we did, you're right.
[1:04:34] Can we get, can we get set up in the gym for that meeting, please?
[1:04:41] So, because it will be joint boards.
[1:04:42] I'm confirming June 22nd.
[1:04:45] Yes, ma'am.
[1:04:46] Head by the call.
[1:04:47] Yes, please.
[1:04:48] OK.
[1:04:51] Do we know how long it is?
[1:04:54] I imagine it'll be hour and a half, two hours, maybe.
[1:04:57] Seven, three, four, four.
[1:04:59] I won't get that answer.
[1:05:05] And this is also free, because you were all members
[1:05:08] of New Hampshire School Board Association, so.
[1:05:11] And do you think the color would like to attend?
[1:05:13] $50 a piece.
[1:05:14] And then we can throw out the free word.
[1:05:16] It's a good thing.
[1:05:17] Right.
[1:05:17] All right, playground safety, you know, we had some discussion about this last month.
[1:05:27] So I think we're going to kick that on to the building grounds to work on that as well,
[1:05:37] to make sure that we're in compliance as we move forward with what we do for the playground.
[1:05:43] I have not reached out.
[1:05:44] I've waited for the vote to happen,
[1:05:46] and it seemed that there was no district funds available.
[1:05:50] Like, I just stalled for a month,
[1:05:53] but I think I'll reach back out and figure out
[1:05:55] what's out there and available.
[1:05:57] Okay, I was gonna also reach out to the person
[1:06:00] that you mentioned.
[1:06:01] Okay.
[1:06:02] Just to see if they need any help.
[1:06:04] Okay.
[1:06:06] Yep.
[1:06:06] Do you have contact information or I believe I do?
[1:06:09] Okay, if not, let's discuss it
[1:06:11] because I can get it for you and then just to have one person
[1:06:14] doing it. I'm fine with that as well.
[1:06:20] Superintendent Search Committee is underway.
[1:06:24] We have, what's
[1:06:25] that? He's gone.
[1:06:41] So, committee's being formed as we speak between the three districts, and as you office, we have
[1:06:48] have an add out there posted out there right now.
[1:06:52] Yeah, that's everything coming in.
[1:06:54] Pretty safe.
[1:06:56] And then we're going to try to move forward as quick as possible.
[1:07:01] To be able to bring something to the joint board as soon as possible.
[1:07:06] Sean, a Peterson in Timworth is kind of leading the charge to get everything organized for us.
[1:07:14] And then once we get that organized, we'll start with going through the resumes and then from there we'll go through the interview process.
[1:07:22] And then I think that was some talk if we get down to, you know, a couple of really great viable candidates, then maybe do.
[1:07:30] We'll move some type of meeting with the joint board. If it comes out into making a decision that way, if it comes
[1:07:37] down to one, still have a discussion with the joint board, but then figure out where we go from there.
[1:07:42] But once that committee is all completely formed together and move forward, then we'll have a little bit more.
[1:07:47] So as the months progress will, we will keep you informed as much as we possibly can to keep it up to date with that.
[1:07:58] Board committees and assignments.
[1:08:07] First turn on my list, do we want a table and discuss next month budget committee?
[1:08:12] I need to talk to you about that, I need to have a question.
[1:08:18] As a...
[1:08:19] This is a bit of an item, but I know we've talked about not having a budget committee representative.
[1:08:24] Well, actually join your agenda.
[1:08:27] It's just down further.
[1:08:29] Yeah, like I thought we had...
[1:08:31] Yeah, some dates or whatever in here.
[1:08:34] So we do we have the budget timeline, the committee assignments just came up first.
[1:08:42] So let's table this and move to that and then we'll go back to it.
[1:08:45] We'll do this right at the end.
[1:08:47] Student recognition in the board packet you do have your honor roll list and
[1:08:53] high-on is less of your high school middle school students, they're slowly getting those out
[1:09:00] to us a little quicker than they didn't happen the past usually. We had a little bit earlier,
[1:09:05] but having Carol make sure that those are available for our more package once the letters are sent
[1:09:10] down in sign for all the students. It's great and it's also keeping this item on here if there's
[1:09:16] anybody else out there, not necessarily a elementary high school middle school student, but a former
[1:09:22] Madison Elementary Student or Madison resident is doing good things it'd be nice to hear
[1:09:27] those things as well about where they are now. So yes. The middle school does
[1:09:36] assemblies where they give out awards for different there's like five or six
[1:09:43] different ones I don't remember all of them and I can't even tell you how many
[1:09:47] Madison kids have received like every every time they have them so it would be nice
[1:09:51] to get that information over here.
[1:09:53] That's what I'm going to go with.
[1:09:57] Yeah, either.
[1:09:58] I'm going to go with their acronym.
[1:10:00] It does, because there's four fruits like one and then an overall one.
[1:10:05] Yeah.
[1:10:05] I'm going to remember what it is.
[1:10:07] But we've had a lot of messing kids.
[1:10:08] Get those, those, Mike.
[1:10:10] Yeah, I'm writing that down.
[1:10:12] Maybe they can put it in their,
[1:10:13] there's three different tools for board
[1:10:14] or just going to separately.
[1:10:16] Well, we're going to go ahead and wait a minute.
[1:10:17] OK.
[1:10:19] Perfect.
[1:10:19] That's the middle school.
[1:10:21] Yep.
[1:10:23] budget process and timeline. So have it sure would have put a budget process and timeline
[1:10:31] together for us, which came to us last month. Kind of highlighting what things could
[1:10:40] look like. We did have some discussion about possibly meeting twice in October and in November.
[1:10:50] One of those meetings and each of those months related directly to budget only, which is where we could meet as a board with the budget committee as a whole, to eliminate having a school member sit on the budget committee, but that's where they could come and ask and answer those questions.
[1:11:13] and one of those nights actually felt on a...
[1:11:16] Who's that belief, which is the night they generally meet?
[1:11:19] December.
[1:11:20] Most of it because there's a freedom meeting on that Monday.
[1:11:24] Felt in line for good reason.
[1:11:26] Yeah.
[1:11:27] For multiple reasons.
[1:11:30] So, do we want to move this timeline forward
[1:11:34] and go with that or thoughts concerns questions?
[1:11:39] I personally like the idea of this.
[1:11:45] Timeline, having been a budget committee rep, it's a lot of meanings,
[1:11:52] and not a lot of time spent on the school budget necessarily, and I think if we opened a specific meaning for the budget committee to come to, I think we would get more input rather than the go between that we had going on.
[1:12:13] because I would constantly say the board is looking for direction and I think being able
[1:12:23] for all of the board members to be able to ask what we're looking for and hearing what
[1:12:28] they have to say.
[1:12:29] I think the back and forth would be better served and I would hate to see somebody going
[1:12:39] to the amount of meanings that I went to knowing that most of that time is spent going over
[1:12:46] the town budget.
[1:12:49] I felt kind of like Heather was talking about with the master plan.
[1:12:54] I kind of feel like it's not as a school board and wrap my purview to be voting on the town
[1:13:01] budget stuff, as a budget committee rep person,
[1:13:09] so that sometimes feels awkward that I'm
[1:13:11] expected to vote on those things too. So I just think it's a lot of time and we still
[1:13:19] didn't seem to get the kind of information certain board members wanted to be able to address
[1:13:26] in a budget, so I think meeting with them directly is a good idea.
[1:13:34] I like this form better as well, and I think we've tried by having the budget at seven
[1:13:42] o'clock, and for a few years, almost the entire budget committee came at seven o'clock,
[1:13:49] and we had back and forth dialogue.
[1:13:51] we love back of what dialogue this year too, but it was one or two members of the budget committee
[1:13:58] always coming and it made it really hard to get what the others are thinking and then things
[1:14:04] are related. So I like this one better. Yeah, and I think it sends a message that we're expecting
[1:14:12] to participate in those meetings because going to the deliberative and having not a full budget
[1:14:20] community even at the deliberative is kind of disheartening so I think trying to get them involved
[1:14:28] early and have that expectation that we'll have a very informed budget committee and we will
[1:14:35] know better what they're looking for and can address their questions directly as a full board
[1:14:42] rather than just one person.
[1:14:46] Do we need to take an official action on this or can you
[1:14:50] Look those dates into the school board calendar as well for me please and thank you.
[1:14:57] Anybody else have questions or concerns?
[1:15:01] I would just say, if we're going to go with this format, we would want to let the budget committee know, as soon as possible, if you see it's for November and December.
[1:15:13] If you can forward a copy of this.
[1:15:16] She's over. Sharon Sharon, shall we?
[1:15:18] Please.
[1:15:20] Maybe I'll be back as well.
[1:15:22] Right here.
[1:15:24] It's in there.
[1:15:25] She's about Sharon.
[1:15:25] I don't look at it.
[1:15:26] I don't have the pattern.
[1:15:27] Okay.
[1:15:28] Yeah, but we'll send it off to Sharon so she has it and she can relay it out to the rest of the committee.
[1:15:42] Public comment policy, Sherry and I talked a little bit about this. You'd ask everyone put this on there.
[1:15:49] Do you want to talk to it?
[1:15:51] No, I don't know where I am.
[1:15:54] Okay.
[1:15:59] Yeah, I think the reason I wanted it on here is because I'm obviously a big advocate of having
[1:16:13] the public come out and make comments, like I think it's extremely important, but we were
[1:16:19] here until like 10 o'clock some nights and it just was like the same.
[1:16:23] Like keeping a format became very hard.
[1:16:26] And then I think that important topics or important things get a little bit lost in translation.
[1:16:32] So I thought if we could just try to follow what our policy is a bit better and say a little
[1:16:39] bit better aligned to that that we may be more successful in getting our entire packets then
[1:16:46] sometimes without even having them all done. So that's that's why I wanted to have Jim
[1:16:52] put this in here. Just as a reminder that we have to try to focus on what our objectives
[1:17:00] are and what the chairs put together in our packet.
[1:17:07] I agree. I think we've periodically
[1:17:10] we'll put it in a couple of times throughout the year just so that people understand that,
[1:17:14] You know, we want the public comment.
[1:17:18] It's not always a back and forth discussion.
[1:17:21] It is comment from the public related to items
[1:17:24] on the agenda.
[1:17:26] And there is a timeline, and I know I'm, well,
[1:17:31] I'm the one who's tasked with, with enforcing it
[1:17:33] sometimes, and I tend to let it, because like,
[1:17:37] oh, I want people to feel like they,
[1:17:39] but please feel free to task me and say point of order
[1:17:42] to move this on.
[1:17:43] The only question I have is that I know in the past we've we've had one at the beginning and the end of the meeting
[1:17:52] I don't know what the reasoning was behind only just having the one near the beginning
[1:17:57] Is it better served?
[1:18:00] They are maybe that's why
[1:18:04] Can't crack
[1:18:05] But that's the only thing that I would bring up is that so we have to allow 30 minutes. So I mean
[1:18:14] If the board wants to, we can go to 15 and 15.
[1:18:18] I don't mind, I just know that used to be, but maybe things have changed.
[1:18:23] If we try to stay with 15 and 15 before, if more people want to talk in the beginning,
[1:18:29] it's like, okay, we're going to, we're going to go in now 30 minutes at the beginning
[1:18:33] and now I've got to, now that it's going to start all up again in the end.
[1:18:37] So to keep the meetings quick, we figured we'd, because it's related to agenda items.
[1:18:41] And if you want to make a comment about what's on the agenda, then we're more likely to have been able to answer it if you make a comment at the beginning of the meeting.
[1:18:52] And I think probably two, if I'm remembering correctly, is that it was after the non-public use to be at the end.
[1:19:00] Correct.
[1:19:00] So do you want it to be a public comment?
[1:19:02] You kind of had to stay around for that.
[1:19:05] And so nobody really cares.
[1:19:05] Right.
[1:19:06] And non-public at the end made the meetings.
[1:19:10] People just like to continue to talk when people weren't in the hall waiting.
[1:19:14] So it was like the non-public lasted longer and longer.
[1:19:17] Everybody else got to go home and the board was here to love the clock at night.
[1:19:20] When I think at the end of each meeting, we've always opened it up as, haven't we been doing that?
[1:19:27] We haven't. I mean, I would say if there's something going on, a board member can make a motion to add.
[1:19:34] Okay.
[1:19:35] 15 minutes and on public, public comment at the end.
[1:19:39] If there is something that is pressing or somebody didn't get a chance to do.
[1:19:44] And to the same extent, I think if we stayed at the three minutes,
[1:19:48] If there's a lot of people like that word tonight, I'm not going to not allow Mandatok when I allow Tamidok or, you know, I want everybody to do that.
[1:20:00] During that comment section.
[1:20:05] Anything else?
[1:20:10] Staff appreciation.
[1:20:12] In the past, the board has done something during staff appreciation.
[1:20:17] I asked Janet if I could use the kitchen to do a breakfast one day and I'm happy to do it on behalf of the board.
[1:20:29] I think we wanted to.
[1:20:34] She didn't say yes.
[1:20:36] She said she said yes.
[1:20:40] I'm Tuesday.
[1:20:42] What's that day?
[1:20:43] What's the South Appreciation League?
[1:20:46] No, Tuesday will be May 5th.
[1:20:47] May 5th.
[1:20:49] Day after the board meeting.
[1:20:51] I plan, I'm not going to use district money.
[1:20:54] I plan to use my own money to purchase the food,
[1:20:57] but I'd like to do on behalf of the board.
[1:20:59] And if anyone would like to join me and help,
[1:21:02] I'm happy to have that as well.
[1:21:04] I know people's jobs and things like that.
[1:21:06] Tuesday's my day off. That's why I chose it.
[1:21:10] But I just wanted to put it out there.
[1:21:11] I think a big part of everything going on we need to
[1:21:17] bolster the good things that happen in the school.
[1:21:20] So that's why I wanted to step forward with that as well.
[1:21:24] That's cool.
[1:21:24] As long as I don't have such clean the kitchen, please.
[1:21:29] If it's board sponsored, we could probably get away with
[1:21:33] leaving it to the...
[1:21:35] No comments.
[1:21:37] Public comments are over story.
[1:21:38] I can hear the arrow.
[1:21:43] Advisory budget committee participation, we've already covered that.
[1:21:51] Page 67, 68 and 69.
[1:21:53] Can I make a motion?
[1:21:54] Yes sir.
[1:21:55] I would like to make a motion that we don't even discuss this.
[1:21:59] I'd rather not even entertain.
[1:22:01] Fair enough.
[1:22:03] Can we do a second?
[1:22:04] Second.
[1:22:04] All in favour?
[1:22:06] Hi.
[1:22:06] Thank you.
[1:22:10] We removed item G.
[1:22:14] Did everybody hurt?
[1:22:16] Yes.
[1:22:16] It was all in favor.
[1:22:18] I wasn't even ready.
[1:22:20] Sorry.
[1:22:21] I have a motion in a second.
[1:22:22] I'm looking for G.
[1:22:24] To remove the very last D letter.
[1:22:27] The communication that came and I'll just...
[1:22:30] This plane at briefly came. It was sent to three board members with that. I just made a motion. Okay, fair enough. I want to discuss it.
[1:22:37] Nothing in the second. I'm disgusted by it. Fair enough.
[1:22:43] Do we get to discuss the motion on the table?
[1:22:48] So that vote didn't count, right?
[1:22:49] No, not yet.
[1:22:50] Sorry, just confused.
[1:22:53] So we're just, I mean, it's in the packet.
[1:22:56] It's in the packet, that's it. We're just going to move forward.
[1:23:02] So motion in a second to remove from the packet as we sense.
[1:23:08] So mayors asks the question though, and I don't disagree with Jeremy.
[1:23:13] I definitely agree with them.
[1:23:14] But are we setting kind of a precedent that we're not going to address things
[1:23:18] Residents?
[1:23:21] I did.
[1:23:23] And I guess I'm confused.
[1:23:25] I didn't think the motion was to remove it from the packet.
[1:23:28] packet, it was just that we're not discussing it.
[1:23:31] Right.
[1:23:31] No, it's not really.
[1:23:33] It's not.
[1:23:33] It's not.
[1:23:33] It's not.
[1:23:34] It's not.
[1:23:34] No, I agree with them.
[1:23:40] But I just wanted to make sure we weren't sending some sort of presidents
[1:23:43] that, like, if presidents want to send us something, we're just trying to.
[1:23:46] I think if residents want to send things based on residents, writings, concerns, things
[1:23:55] like that.
[1:23:57] It's okay to do, I think, this two-inch political rhetoric in here, that doesn't belong
[1:24:06] at what is supposed to be a nonpartisan, but that's what I was okay with, not discussing
[1:24:15] it.
[1:24:17] Now people are in the room.
[1:24:19] It's in the board packet that welcome to find it in the reading, so I have a motion
[1:24:23] in a second, all in favor, I would just make a comment if a counts member wishes to send
[1:24:33] something to the board to be in the packet. Please send it to the superintendent.
[1:24:43] Be cautious,
[1:24:45] everybody needs to be cautious about sending a communication to multiple board members at
[1:24:50] given time. And that's why I put it here, not if not if reading it. Because it was sent
[1:24:55] to three board members and I felt that needed to be sent all the way out. That being said,
[1:25:01] we're going to move on. And it's because that would be a quorum. That is correct. It would
[1:25:05] fall in the 91A. Unless you're emailing PCCS.
[1:25:14] All right. Manifest signers, too. In the past
[1:25:19] It's been at night, Ed is now the SUV treasure, so he's going to be there anyways.
[1:25:26] I'm there as well, if anybody's not compelled to do that, I'm happy to continue
[1:25:30] at you.
[1:25:31] Yeah, I'm good.
[1:25:32] I'm sorry.
[1:25:33] Building in grounds, Jeremy, I'll continue this day.
[1:25:39] That's something you have to mention.
[1:25:40] Keeps me in shape.
[1:25:41] It does.
[1:25:42] Walking around the building?
[1:25:43] I'm sure that's the best.
[1:25:44] Thank you, Laws.
[1:25:46] S.A.U. 9, 13 area joint board committee.
[1:25:50] I've been going to everyone.
[1:25:51] Yeah, I need to.
[1:25:52] All right, Deb Sherry, anybody else?
[1:25:56] They usually, what, six o'clock, or six o'clock, or six o'clock?
[1:25:58] Pretty fast.
[1:25:59] Six o'clock.
[1:26:00] Two o'clock.
[1:26:01] No, we don't have to have a point.
[1:26:05] Okay.
[1:26:07] Okay.
[1:26:07] I'll be honest with you.
[1:26:09] I will stop in as, as I can, but not on the committee.
[1:26:13] Who was the third one?
[1:26:15] No third, is that right now?
[1:26:22] CIP member.
[1:26:25] That is kind of rolled into
[1:26:27] It's building in grounds.
[1:26:29] So I'm going to leave that.
[1:26:30] I'll just read that.
[1:26:31] Do you want that?
[1:26:32] Do you want that?
[1:26:32] Do you want that?
[1:26:32] Yeah.
[1:26:33] Do you want that?
[1:26:34] Do you want that?
[1:26:36] Do you want that?
[1:26:37] to Master Plan Committee and
[1:26:42] we'll just see IPO just roll up into Master Plan.
[1:26:48] What did you say that meant?
[1:26:50] The first Wednesday from 5.30 to 6.30.
[1:26:54] I'll do it.
[1:26:56] Thank you.
[1:26:57] Thank you.
[1:26:58] So the planning board I believe has to approve every year.
[1:27:02] So you seem to get your name.
[1:27:04] I'll send it to Tia and then you'll actually sort in and all that stuff.
[1:27:10] It's on one year commit.
[1:27:11] It's dotted as one meeting.
[1:27:13] Welcome to the project committee again.
[1:27:17] Um, the New Hampshire School Board delegate.
[1:27:22] Are you doing that for the drink?
[1:27:23] Yeah, I was going to say, I am just putting me down.
[1:27:26] Sure.
[1:27:26] I think I have information on that.
[1:27:28] Hold on.
[1:27:29] We'll get some dates, some dates.
[1:27:32] Hold on.
[1:27:34] Nelson.
[1:27:35] And they just be delicate assembly as scheduled for Saturday October 17th in Concord, the public office center.
[1:27:43] Saturday October 17th.
[1:27:48] Policy committee.
[1:27:51] All right.
[1:27:53] Two willing members to stay, tuition option.
[1:27:57] I'm willing to continue that.
[1:27:59] Shall we?
[1:28:00] Seeing as we've started this road,
[1:28:03] road will continue to date a governance.
[1:28:07] That was, stay on that if you want.
[1:28:10] That is a dealing technology.
[1:28:12] Yeah, that is.
[1:28:16] Negotiations.
[1:28:19] Kevin Sherry.
[1:28:20] Health and wellness.
[1:28:22] I've been on that.
[1:28:23] I've been kind of enlightening for me.
[1:28:28] Seeing this, I'm not healthy or well, but what the heck will
[1:28:30] give we'll take it on.
[1:28:32] And the corner schoolhouse liaison.
[1:28:34] Got you.
[1:28:35] I'm happy to continue with that.
[1:28:40] You might time me dead after the health and wellness meeting in the middle of the woods.
[1:28:43] I mean, the corner schoolhouse.
[1:28:45] Sorry.
[1:28:46] I didn't say that.
[1:28:50] The lead will balance everything else.
[1:28:57] We voted to a point, Asia.
[1:29:00] Did we do that already?
[1:29:02] We did that at the beginning.
[1:29:02] I thought we did.
[1:29:03] I just want to make sure.
[1:29:05] And then, so we do need a clerk moderator.
[1:29:09] Please.
[1:29:09] somebody step forward, you want?
[1:29:12] All right, anything else?
[1:29:16] What's our job?
[1:29:16] Did Linda stay on his treasure?
[1:29:18] Yes, Linda, Linda won his treasure.
[1:29:21] So that was elected.
[1:29:23] And then, just make sure she gets one in.
[1:29:27] She did a child meeting day.
[1:29:29] Okay, Sherry, did you get someone in town meeting day?
[1:29:32] No, I was there.
[1:29:34] I guess I wasn't paying attention.
[1:29:35] We can swear in Cherry and Asia.
[1:29:40] Can you print it?
[1:29:41] Yeah, can you print it?
[1:29:42] We can do it right now.
[1:29:45] Or right after the meeting.
[1:29:46] Why after the meeting?
[1:29:46] I just don't remember which one it is.
[1:29:47] Because I printed two.
[1:29:49] So that's all right.
[1:29:52] So I like it.
[1:29:53] Did Jeremy?
[1:29:55] Jeremy did.
[1:29:59] So...
[1:30:00] motion, second, adjourned.
[1:30:14] adjourned.
