All right, I'm going to call the meeting
to order at 7:06.
[0:06]
Uh, rise everyone to salute the flag.
>> I pledge algiance to the flag of the
[0:13]
United States of America and to the
republic for which it stands, one nation
[0:19]
under God, indivisible, with liberty and
justice for all. And at this time, the
[0:24]
mayor always asks us to remain standing
for a moment of silence to honor the men
[0:29]
and women who keep us safe around the
world. And this meeting, I would like
[0:34]
everybody to keep the Shiffron, the um
Depro, and the Schmidt families in your
[0:41]
hearts because we had big losses in town
this week.
[0:47]
Okay. Thank you.
[0:52]
Whereas chapter 231 of the public laws
of the state of New Jersey requires that
[0:56]
the commencement of every meeting a
statement of compliance be read. Now
[1:00]
therefore be advised that the meeting
requirements for for this meeting have
[1:03]
been met by publishing a meeting notice
in the record in our town by posting
[1:06]
such notice in the office of the burough
clerk as well as in a public place
[1:09]
within the municipal building and by
notifying interested citizens. Said
[1:13]
notice was posted on January 5th, 2026.

On roll call, Mayor Bolan is absent.
[1:39]
Council members Bennon
>> here.
[1:41]
» Herk
>> here.
[1:42]
» Pavano
>> here. Smith is absent. Alman
[1:47]
» here.
>> Flynn
[1:49]
» here.
>> Burough attorney Scatino
[1:51]
» here.
>> Bur administrator Fbre
[1:53]
» here.
>> Burough clerk despotto here. We have a
[1:56]
quorum.
>> Okay, first item on the agenda is the
[2:00]
presentation and proclamations. The 100
anniversary of the fire police.
[2:04]
» So I'd like to call the fire police up
to the day, please. And uh Claire, since
[2:09]
you're the fire commissioner, would you
like to
[2:12]
» Oh boy. join.
>> I want to get a good picture.
[2:19]
[applause]
[2:29]
[applause]
[2:36]
» Doesn't sound on.
[snorts]
[2:49]
I don't want I don't want to get yelled
at for not being on TV when I'm talking
[2:53]
about you guys. So, I'm going to start
out by reading this certificate of
[2:57]
recognition. for this. Uh, this
certificate is proudly presented to the
[3:04]
Maywood Fire Police in honor and
celebration of 100 years of dedicated
[3:09]
service. Since its founding, the Maywood
Fire Police has stood as a steadfast
[3:14]
guardian of public safety, directing
traffic, securing scenes, and protecting
[3:18]
both the community and its first
responders in their most critical
[3:22]
moments.
On this milestone centennial
[3:26]
anniversary, that's 100 years folks. We
pay tribute to the men and women past
[3:31]
and present whose commitment, courage,
and selfless service have defined this
[3:35]
organization for 100 years. May the
legacy of those who came before inspire
[3:41]
all who follow. And this is given to you
all in honor or by the mayor and
[3:47]
council. Where is Karen? You're over
here. Um, I would just like to say I
[3:51]
think everyone in town knows this, but
there we [clears throat] have so many
[3:55]
people who do different things, who
volunteer in different ways,
[3:59]
and some people do this event, and some
people do this parade, and some people
[4:03]
are firefighters and are out all the
time. These guys are at all of the
[4:09]
things. We all do a little. Some of us
do a lot. They do it all. They're
[4:14]
everywhere all the time. It's crazy. I
don't even understand how they sleep.
[4:19]
But I'm always impressed that they're
willing to continue to do this because
[4:24]
it's a lot. We ask a lot of you. Um, our
fun things and our hard things and
[4:29]
everything. You're always there. So, you
know, on behalf of everybody, I just
[4:34]
want to thank you for your just always
being there for us and always being
[4:38]
there for me. I'm going to make myself
cry. I always get myself worked up when
[4:41]
I say things like this.
>> I thought, [laughter]
[4:44]
» well, we all this always happens, right?
So, I'd like to let Claire, do you have
[4:49]
anything to say as the fire
commissioner?
[4:52]
» Yeah, I'm crying already, so it's okay.
[laughter]
[4:55]
» So, do you have anything to add as our
fearless leader?
[4:59]
» There you go. [laughter]
>> On behalf of the mayor of fire, please,
[5:01]
we want to thank the council of uh
Maywood uh for this recognition. We
[5:05]
really appreciate it for 100th service
anniversary. So, thank you again so
[5:09]
much. We appreciate it.
>> Here's to 100 more. [laughter]
[5:13]
» Yeah. [applause]
[5:18]
» [applause]
[5:23]
» Can we squish and shoot?
>> Squish and shoot.
[5:32]
» Yeah. I want to get a picture of the
fire.
[5:37]
» Let's get us all in and then we'll get
us alone. My husband is rescuing me.
[5:44]
» All right, Adrian, you need to organize
this.
[5:48]
» [laughter]
>> left shoulder.
[5:53]
» Let's uh
>> Yeah, you can't see the guys in the
[5:56]
back.
>> You guys are right.
[6:07]
» Hey Roy, where's Roy?
>> Right there. Perfect. Perfect. Let's
[6:15]
see if we can do even if that makes
sense.
[6:30]
» Yes.
[6:37]
» Did you say I made that perfect?
>> I did. [laughter]
[6:41]
said, "Take a perfect picture."
Cameron, just move your head to your
[6:45]
right a little bit. [laughter]
>> That way, that way.
[6:52]
» Boom. Thank you.
[applause]
[7:04]
» Yep. Yep. Yep.
>> Face forward. No shoulders.
[7:17]
Yeah. Scooch together a little.
[7:24]
» Yep. Perfect.
>> Come smiling.
[7:30]
» Everybody [laughter]
say
[7:37]
» that looks awesome. It does.
>> Sorry.
[7:43]
» Thank you. Thank you. [applause]
[7:48]
» Thank you.
>> So nice.
[7:57]
» This is going to be a quick meeting. I
have to be this hot.
[7:59]
» Okay.
>> Nothing wrong with that.
[8:00]
» Thank you.
>> Thank you very much. Appreciate you.
[8:04]
» I can feel it.
[8:12]
Thank you.
>> Thank you very much. Are you kidding?
[8:14]
» Thank you.
>> Thank you. You too.
[8:19]
» My husband went to the coronet and
grabbed me another pair.
[8:21]
» That was very nice.
>> What did he What did he go?
[8:24]
» Very nice.
>> Yes, it was very nice. I'm glad you said
[8:26]
something because I'm like I was going
to say I was going to say something
[8:29]
about all the stuff they do. So, I'm
glad you said
[8:31]
» because every time I start saying those
things, I like make my own self cry.
[8:34]
» I was very very
>> Yeah. Well, you held it in. You were
[8:36]
good. You were good. You kept it
together. [laughter]
[8:40]
» Like I'm really It's like I'm really
good at getting myself worked up.
[8:45]
» That's why I can't read cards in the
hallmark.
[8:51]
» So, council president, next item on the
agenda is public hearing on pending
[8:54]
ordinances. We have ordinance 7-26, an
ordinance to amend chapter 52, the
[8:59]
burough code of the burough Maywood
entitled personal policy.
[9:03]
Council President, we need to open the
floor.
[9:05]
» So, I'll open the floor to public
comment on ordinance 726.
[9:11]
Do you have any comments, John?
[laughter]
[9:17]
» Um, does anyone Oh, well, I should close
then. Um, seeing none, we'll close the
[9:24]
uh public portion. Does anyone in the
council have any comments or questions
[9:28]
about this? This is the second reading,
so we're going to pass it tonight. I
[9:32]
will say, Adrian, I did notice the part
about training for AI policy. And I do
[9:38]
want to make sure that we put a pin in
that and that actually happens because
[9:42]
AI is confusing to people and employees.
And you know, we had a little issue with
[9:46]
using a graphic once that we didn't have
the permission for. So, I think making
[9:50]
sure that the staff really understand
what the intention is here is super
[9:55]
important.
>> I'll talk to Frank and see if we can get
[9:58]
uh some of the MSI training, some
videos. Yeah,
[10:00]
» they usually provide that if there is
something available.
[10:03]
» Yeah,
>> we'll get it.
[10:04]
» And just like let them know like we're
serious. Like they should read this and
[10:07]
acknowledge that they've read the policy
change because this is a brand new We're
[10:10]
in a strange new world here with AI. Um
all right. So, uh I think it's time to
[10:17]
take the role. We need a first and a
second. Oh, I'm sorry. Can I have a
[10:22]
motion?
>> I'll make the motion.
[10:24]
» I'll second.
>> On roll call. Bennon,
[10:28]
» yes.
>> Herrick,
[10:29]
» yes. Padavano,
>> yes.
[10:30]
» Olman,
>> yes.
[10:32]
» Flynn,
>> yes. Motion carries. Be it resolved by
[10:35]
the governing body of the Burl Maywood
that ordinance 7-26B and is hereby
[10:39]
passed upon second and final reading and
that the burough clerk is hereby
[10:42]
authorized and directed to advertise the
same according to law. Next item on the
[10:47]
agenda is the approval of minutes. We
have the May 12th, 2026 work session and
[10:51]
close session minutes and the May 26,
2026 council meeting minutes.
[10:56]
» Okay. Can I have a motion?
I'll make the motion.
[11:01]
» Second that. Anybody want to second it?
>> I'll second.
[11:06]
» Can we have the vote on roll call?
Bennon,
[11:09]
» yes.
>> Herrick,
[11:11]
» yes.
>> Favano,
[11:12]
» yes.
>> Almond,
[11:13]
» yes.
>> Flynn,
[11:15]
» yes.
>> Motion carries. Next thing on the agenda
[11:18]
is our engineering report for June.
[11:25]
» Thank you, honorable council members.
So, we should an engineers report uh
[11:29]
dated uh the 16th for tonight's meeting.
I'll briefly go through the topics. I'll
[11:33]
tie the first two together, which is
Memorial Park improvements and the
[11:37]
lighting, sports lighting improvements.
Projects been completed for a while.
[11:40]
We're just uh punch listing uh and
requesting documentation from uh the
[11:46]
contractor. They'll move forward with
close out and then uh be providing uh
[11:50]
documents uh to open space so that the
bureau can receive its outstanding grant
[11:54]
funding for that project.
uh the permeable paver projects, there's
[11:59]
been no action with respect to it. Uh
we're awaiting uh sports seasons and
[12:03]
events to end. [snorts] Uh once that
occurs in late fall, that project will
[12:09]
move forward in the winter. The under
drains will be constructed and then
[12:12]
you'll be able to use the fields uh in
the spring of that year of next year,
[12:16]
2027.
uh Taplan and Laughlin. Uh we received
[12:21]
uh documents from uh the burrow today
which will allow us to make submissions
[12:25]
both to uh community development and DOT
by the end of the week. Then you'll be
[12:29]
in the queue to receive the outstanding
grant funds for both of those projects
[12:33]
too. Uh next item on the list is uh
Dodto. Uh we had a bid opening uh that
[12:40]
occurred on uh June 17th. We issued a
recommendation package uh just this week
[12:46]
on yesterday the 22nd. Once uh funding's
available for that project uh the award
[12:52]
would occur and we would anticipate that
uh piping would be installed August
[12:56]
September. You'd let it settle out for
two to three months and pave right
[13:00]
around October, November. Uh Memorial
Park, the Spring Valley uh entrance side
[13:05]
improvements project. Uh we've been
working uh with the governing body with
[13:10]
our office of repair conceptual plan for
that. Improvements include three
[13:16]
separate items. Uh the base bid is going
to be the retaining wall grading
[13:21]
improvements near the Spring Valley Road
parking lot. Uh what that'll do is
[13:25]
eliminate the current condition where
you see the slope eroding over and you
[13:29]
actually can see some of the the granite
that's located there. Uh that wall will
[13:34]
allow us to fill over that. You'll have
uh top soil there and be able to plant
[13:38]
there and uh hold that slope and soil in
the alternate bid of that project will
[13:44]
include an irrigation system. The
irrigation system will ensure that that
[13:48]
those plantings are maintained and then
the alternate bid B which would be if
[13:53]
there's sufficient funding would be to
take the pathway where which now ends
[13:59]
and begins in the middle of the drive
aisle where residents would walk through
[14:03]
the parking lot. We're now locating that
along the right of way of Spring Valley
[14:08]
uh along the frontage. That would
require you to eliminate some of the
[14:11]
smaller saplings that have been planted
there. We will set the bid up so uh we
[14:17]
attempt as best as possible to remove
those plantings and move them to other
[14:22]
locations within the park so that those
plantings uh aren't wasted. Uh what we
[14:27]
have done if if you've seen the plan is
developed an ADA ramp that will come
[14:33]
toward I guess the east toward the
basketball courts. You'll work your way
[14:37]
up at 5%. You'll then bend your way off
to the
[14:42]
» right
>> north that is toward the dog park. We'll
[14:45]
have a separate walkway into where the
dog park is, which is ADA accessible,
[14:50]
and eliminate that stone area, which has
kind of been thrown down and is not not
[14:56]
clean and needs to be tidied, so you
have a clean entrance to the uh dog
[15:00]
park. Then you'll loop around with that
5% slope and be able to get uh to the
[15:05]
basketball courts. If you don't need to
use the ramp and and and don't need the
[15:09]
ADA accessible ramp, there's going to be
a stairway that will take you up
[15:13]
directly to the basketball courts if you
want to uh eliminate going to the uh dog
[15:18]
park. So, there will be in between
there, which I think will be uh
[15:23]
something that'll create intra aesthetic
interest to the park. There there'll be
[15:27]
a small retaining wall that will loop uh
in between uh the 88 ramp where you
[15:32]
slope 5% to loop around toward the
basketball court. It'll be a planter box
[15:36]
that you could put trees, decorative
plantings in and and create an aesthetic
[15:42]
uh as you're either choosing to enter
the dog park or choosing to enter the
[15:47]
main [clears throat] park. Um I I know
we potentially may have a meeting uh
[15:52]
this week. All are invited to uh visit
and we'll walk through and I can present
[15:58]
and show based upon the plan where these
separate improvements are going to be
[16:01]
located so you can visualize it uh in
the field.
[16:06]
Next item on the list is the call for
DOT municipal aid grant projects. Uh
[16:11]
yesterday we submitted a grant
application for uh Ham Place. Uh we
[16:16]
would anticipate that around
Thanksgiving time, end of the year is
[16:20]
when the state would be awarding grants
and you would construct that either
[16:23]
spring or summer of next year based upon
uh funding availability. Uh and then the
[16:28]
final two items that are listed in the
report relate to the municipal storm
[16:32]
water management program. Uh, one was
the stormwater pollution prevention plan
[16:37]
and storm water management plan and also
the storm water control ordinance. We've
[16:40]
submitted those documents to Bergen
County. They're under review. Once
[16:44]
they're completed, uh, the burl would
upload those to their storm water
[16:47]
section of their website. The other is
the uh, larger watershed assessment
[16:52]
report. We're preparing that report.
We'll be issuing a draft by the end of
[16:56]
July. Uh, that report's due uh, at the
end of uh, this year. And then a final
[17:01]
item that's that's off the report, but
we had discussed at last month's meeting
[17:05]
was the Central Avenue paving that the
county is going to undertake. Uh we we
[17:09]
received correspondence that they
they're not going to be paving that
[17:12]
roadway into uh until 2027 based upon
their funding and review.
[17:18]
Some good aspects of the project though
and information that we've acquired. One
[17:22]
is that uh the county is going to be
implementing a bike path from Hacksac
[17:28]
through uh the burrow of Maywood as as
part of this project. Now when we asked
[17:33]
for the shoulder striping that was
requested, the burl has the option and
[17:37]
they asked us to pull the governing body
uh would you want uh shoulder striping
[17:42]
or would you want them to continue the
the bike path uh through the burrow? So
[17:46]
that's something that you would need to
consider. you don't need to take action
[17:50]
tonight because it's not going to occur
till next year, but they they'd like an
[17:55]
answer from the governing body as it
relates to that. And then the final
[17:58]
item, I know the mayor had asked as it
relates to traveling um eastbound on uh
[18:04]
Central Avenue toward Hackinack about
lengthening that left turn lane because
[18:09]
you have some queuing that actually ends
up in the straight lane heading east.
[18:14]
and they said they will definitely uh
implement that, include that in the
[18:17]
revised construction documents when it
goes out to bid. So, you'll see that
[18:20]
lengthening occurring, hopefully less
queuing that impacts uh people traveling
[18:25]
eastbound on Central Avenue. That
concludes our report. Be glad to address
[18:29]
any questions or comments the governing
body had though.
[18:31]
» Can is I guess maybe they won't have
this yet, but with that bike path, the
[18:37]
shoulder striping question, um it' be
good to see a plan. I I would imagine
[18:42]
people might be
I mean Ryan I know is already like bike
[18:47]
path, right?
>> I just I have a question about So
[18:49]
Hackinack is installing the bike path,
correct? So, well, the county is going
[18:54]
to paint paint it on the uh c since
they're paving all of central avenue
[18:58]
from Hackinack through
>> my assumption is that Hackinack is
[19:01]
paying for no
>> it on their So, so that's my next
[19:04]
question is the county if we're talking
is going to continue if we so choose the
[19:09]
bike path will continue paving or
painting the bike path at their cost not
[19:15]
to the cost of
>> No, it's all this is all this is
[19:18]
project.
>> Yeah, just it's just choice on what to
[19:20]
That's going to be very
>> I'd love to know is it just paint or are
[19:24]
they planning on putting any kind of
>> Ballards? I mean Central gets quite
[19:29]
narrow between
Maywood
[19:33]
and uh Rochelle.
>> It is. It is.
[19:36]
» So
>> So I I know that I I I doubt they will
[19:39]
put Ballards in because the the
>> those little orange thingy bobers
[19:44]
» issues with uh vehicles traveling by
larger vehicles. I'd be glad to ask the
[19:49]
county to supply a striking plan for
what they intend to do within the
[19:52]
roadway. And I I I could distribute that
uh through the administrator of the
[19:56]
governing body to take a look at it.
>> Those skinny I'm sorry. Those skinny
[20:00]
little orange things that aren't quite
cones. I don't know what one would.
[20:04]
They're not bothered. It's probably not
the right word.
[20:06]
» Delineators they're called.
>> Oh, okay. Traffic delineators.
[20:09]
» You did not know that.
>> Exactly what I would have called them.
[20:12]
» Traffic delineator. They were located I
know at uh Maywood A and Spring Valley
[20:17]
and they get clipped a lot.
>> They absolutely get clipped but it's
[20:20]
better that they get clipped than the
people on the bikes is. So yeah know
[20:24]
into every life a traffic deliminator
must fall occasionally.
[20:27]
» What is the difference between the
shoulder and a bike path? Aren't they
[20:32]
are they similar in size? Is it just
that they put arrows for the bike path?
[20:37]
» They paint it. So I I would envision it
and I don't want to speak out of term
[20:42]
because I haven't seen the plan myself.
I was just asked the question. The the
[20:45]
white stripe would be your typical
shoulder that you you see that that that
[20:49]
you did on Spring Valley.
>> Spring Valley, right?
[20:51]
» Um your bike path would have the double
white with the paint the painted color
[20:56]
in the middle with the symbol of the
bike bike traveling bike
[21:00]
» of which no one would be able to park on
said bike path on central on that side.
[21:06]
Correct. Well, it depends on where they
put it. There's there's only parking on
[21:10]
what
on the part between Maywood and Rochelle
[21:14]
A. There's only parking on one side of
the street anyway. So, if the bike path
[21:17]
was put on that side,
>> hopefully it would be on the other side,
[21:19]
but it's so narrow. I mean, I've ridden
my bike on that street. And it's
[21:23]
» we'll probably be better off with I
mean, just for traffic in general to not
[21:28]
have cars parked on that road.
>> Yeah. Because when you have multiple
[21:32]
cars going at the same time, sometimes
you go around.
[21:35]
» You can't just decide that people can't
park on
[21:38]
» Well, no. County road. That's a county
decision.
[21:40]
» It's a county decision to some extent,
right? And if that then I mean, if the
[21:45]
bike path is up, then you can't park in
a bike path that not on that side of the
[21:49]
street, but on the other side, you'd be
able
[21:51]
» to park.
>> I just wonder what they're I guess we
[21:54]
have to see what they're
>> Yeah. I'm sorry, Claire. I didn't mean
[21:57]
to speak over you.
>> I'm talking to Adrian who's making a bad
[21:59]
face.
>> Okay. Stop making faces.
[22:01]
» I'm I'm making I'm I'm in my bicycle.
>> If you're going to make faces, do it on
[22:04]
your microphone so it gets on the TV.
[laughter]
[22:07]
» Um we uh so obviously we need some more
information because the idea of a bike
[22:12]
path is a great idea. I mean, we
remember we we Ryan and Doug had uh sort
[22:18]
of champion the idea of putting the bike
path along the rail line.
[22:24]
You know, if that's still an option,
perhaps this bike path they're talking
[22:28]
about could be diverted. on to that
through Maywood. Um, and then we would
[22:33]
avoid people. Why are you looking at me
in that tone of voice? [laughter] So,
[22:39]
» my tone of voice
>> that could that could um I it's just a
[22:42]
thought, you know, like to explore.
[laughter]
[22:47]
» So, can we see a plan, please?
>> Yeah, that's it. That's it. That's it.
[22:51]
» The uh county traffic engineer announc
the more we think about. Does anyone
[22:56]
else have any questions for our
engineer? Um just one thing I I had
[23:00]
brought up to Mr. Peniac before which is
and that we discussed we did get the
[23:07]
information back from the county saying
that they are of course okay with us
[23:11]
putting up crosswalk signs. Um I've
reached out to our CFO to just check on
[23:16]
the funding and I've also asked Mr. PLA
if he could look into some possible
[23:20]
grant opportunities for that to see how
much we would have funding for um if
[23:25]
we'd have funding to do all six um
across May would have the crosswalk
[23:29]
signs already in place from an old bond
bond ordinances um andor get some grant
[23:36]
money andor if we
>> my understanding was we have the money
[23:40]
set aside so yes we can get grant money
for other crosswalks.
[23:45]
» True. You're going to be waiting a year
or two then if you
[23:47]
» Oh, no. No. These I
>> Gav's on the roof.
[23:50]
» Great. Did I not just say those girls?
>> Is there such a thing as a grant you get
[23:54]
immediately? If there is, we would love
to have it.
[23:56]
» That is the one thing is is is if you
are looking for grant money, it will
[23:59]
take some.
>> It's going to delay.
[24:00]
» Okay. Well, I'll let you know what Sher
>> It would turn into it would turn into a
[24:04]
next year project.
>> Yeah, we we've been promising these for
[24:07]
a long time. We've been told we have the
funding for a long time. It would be
[24:09]
really exciting to get crackacking on
this situation. So I would uh like
[24:14]
» So basically the next step is once I
just hear from Sher with everything that
[24:17]
everything is a-okay and then uh we just
need to official have an official
[24:23]
» bid the project
>> say for you to start putting together
[24:26]
the package. And just so everyone
remembers, you did say it's roughly
[24:30]
$50,000 a crosswalk, and that is doing
the work soup to nuts, but that does
[24:36]
also include striping across the street,
of which we would not have to do because
[24:40]
the striping already exists on Maywood
Avenue that the county did do. So,
[24:46]
» although we I mean, you never know. It
might need a little touch-up.
[24:48]
» It might need a little touch-up. I mean,
that might be part of what we have to
[24:51]
look at, but that would be the
>> and and that's not the expensive part of
[24:57]
the No, the sign, right?
>> I think we need some traffic delineators
[25:01]
in the middle of the crosswalk as well.
Just going to say
[25:04]
» put that in the
>> Do you have another
[25:06]
» Greg? I have a question. Sure. Um
>> the patchwork on Maywood Avenue, now
[25:12]
that she brings it up, especially by
Burrow Hall, is is horrible. Um is the
[25:17]
county coming back? Are they sending
their contractors back to address that
[25:21]
or is that is that the way it's going to
stay?
[25:23]
» Yeah, I I I I could reach out.
>> I I've actually been meaning to reach
[25:26]
out to you about this, but but Katherine
just brought up uh what she brought up
[25:29]
and just popped into my head right now.
>> Which patchwork are you talking about?
[25:33]
» I'm sorry.
>> Which patchwork are you talking about?
[25:36]
» The one on the corner of Park and Well,
actually all over, but on Park and uh
[25:40]
Maywood A is pretty bad right out front
here. Um and and it was done without any
[25:46]
I I believe it was done without even
talking to the the planning I mean I'm
[25:49]
sorry the building department until
after like they you know like they
[25:52]
generally
>> under the cover of night.
[25:54]
» Yeah. I mean it's always emergency work
>> and and it was the county or was it a
[25:58]
utility? It was
>> I want to say it was PSEG but I I
[26:03]
believe it was PSEG. I think
>> Was it the gas leak?
[26:06]
» You talking about the GL the gas leak
right out here?
[26:09]
» If that's what they were calling it. I'm
not exactly [laughter] sure what the
[26:11]
reason was.
>> That's what they were calling it. Yeah.
[26:12]
I mean, listen, they have
>> purportedly
[26:15]
» they've never met an emergency they
didn't have a name for. I mean, you
[26:19]
know, they just it gives if by calling
it an emergency, they can just do as
[26:23]
they please.
>> You know, you made me think of something
[26:25]
else.
>> Oh, no.
[26:26]
» I'm sorry.
>> Sorry. Sorry.
[26:28]
» Um there I know I said to you and to
Gary, there's a little there's a bit of
[26:34]
a sinkhole developing on Orchard Place
in front of like fairly close to the
[26:38]
end. There's an old patch probably from
152 years ago. So, Gary said he called
[26:43]
in a uh a mark out cuz he wanted to see
which
[26:48]
utility might be in the vicinity. Um I
don't know, maybe we don't have a record
[26:52]
of who it was, but if you it's in front
of nine orchard place and since you're
[26:58]
going to be at the aphasia center, you
could go just take a little detour. Uh,
[27:03]
so right in the corner of the patch
there's a hole and it and when you look
[27:07]
in it, the a literary agent editor
thought it seemed deep and dangerous. So
[27:13]
[laughter]
I don't know if I mean it looks pretty
[27:16]
deep to me and I I don't know. I'm
worrying that the whole that whole big
[27:20]
block we've been talking about that's
already falling apart is like now being
[27:24]
undermined.
>> Um, so
[27:27]
» a
>> lot of road discussion today.
[27:29]
» Yeah, good stuff. Good stuff. Uh, Greg,
if I may, just to
[27:33]
» pile on your report, which generated a
tremendous amount of discussion tonight
[27:37]
to circle back briefly
on to the bike uh lane, there's, I'd
[27:44]
say, a better chance than not, I will
not be on the council when this finally
[27:49]
comes to a vote. So I would like my
colleagues and for it to be on record
[27:55]
thinking uh or saying rather that
in my opinion there's no question it
[28:00]
should be a bike lane. I've said on this
day it's for almost nine years now and
[28:05]
I'm sure if you looked at the 90 years
before that the county has never offered
[28:09]
to put a bike lane in any municipality
uh at no cost to the burrow. People are
[28:15]
still going to drive their bikes to
Saddlebrook Park. Kids are going to
[28:19]
continue to drive their bikes to Saddle
Brook Park because you could see them
[28:22]
every evening playing basketball and
pickle ball and tennis there. So, if we
[28:27]
could uh do something to make that drive
a little safer, I think we would be
[28:32]
silly not to.
>> Duly noted, sir.
[28:36]
» Yeah.
>> Thank you.
[28:37]
» It would help me make my bike trips
longer, which I would appreciate because
[28:42]
I would feel safer. It's not safe on
Central on a bike. I'm just going to
[28:46]
tell you. Um, all right. Is there
anything else or have we exhausted the
[28:50]
engineers report and can we let Greg
scadaddle?
[28:55]
» You got anything else, Greg?
>> I kind of did it already.
[28:58]
» Don't unless anybody has any questions?
>> You
[29:01]
» sure you don't want to circle back to
the bike lane? [laughter]
[29:05]
» We do have under new business this
concept plan and the grading for
[29:08]
Memorial Park, which you did already
review. Does any even though that's
[29:13]
later on the agenda, does anyone else
have any additional questions
[29:16]
specifically about that?
>> Just you said there's going to be a
[29:19]
meeting you're going to show where the
>> So I I think uh
[29:24]
the burough administrator and I have a
meeting 2:30
[29:28]
uh for a matter at the uh Peerless
Firehouse on Thursday. After that
[29:33]
meeting uh we're going to have a meeting
at uh the Spring Valley side of Memorial
[29:38]
Park just to walk through uh that plan.
So we can you can everybody can
[29:42]
visualize it in the field and then we
can discuss potential revisions if you'd
[29:46]
like to revise the plan.
>> So you guesstimate like 3:30ish
[29:50]
» 330 we should be
>> I'm going to the theater. It can't be a
[29:53]
lot later than that.
>> Definitely would
[29:55]
» around 3:30 on Thursday.
>> Around 3:30.
[29:57]
» Yeah. Because I I'm looking at the the
plan you gave, but kind of want to see
[30:02]
it in real life.
>> We we'll show you in real life and we'll
[30:05]
also have a larger scale plan so that
you Yeah. Yeah. That's tiny. All right.
[30:08]
Well, and if as many of us can get there
as possible, then and if anybody else
[30:12]
has questions, I'm going to try to get
there. If you have questions and you
[30:15]
can't get there, feel free to
>> ask.
[30:18]
» John, is this something since there's
going to be no discussion about is this
[30:22]
something that we have to worry about a
quorum or can we just everybody just
[30:25]
show up and look around. It's a park.
We're there.
[30:28]
» No replying all.
>> Well, right. If there's no going to be
[30:31]
no discussion and no action taken, you
could all go on a site visit.
[30:35]
» Okay. Just want to make sure. Thank you.
Thank you.
[30:38]
» We could speak amongst ourselves. Just
not discuss it.
[30:41]
» Just just no replying all.
>> Just no discussing the pro [laughter]
[30:44]
the project.
>> Yeah.
[30:45]
» You're going to if you're going to
discuss the project, then
[30:48]
» it's listen only.
>> It's listen only.
[30:50]
» Listen, take note. Well, it's just an
understanding what's going on. We can
[30:54]
have the discussions after. All right.
So, can we let Mr. Piniac go?
[31:00]
» Unless the member of the public has any
questions for him, I would say yes.
[31:04]
» The member.
>> All right. I think we can dispense with
[31:08]
you, Mr. Pony. And you may go home to
your lovely family.
[31:11]
» Thank you so much.
>> All right. Have a wonderful night and
[31:14]
we'll see you Thursday.
>> Bye, Greg.
[31:16]
» Have a good night.
>> All right. So, on to bills and claims.
[31:21]
Uh,
so do I just call for a motion or do you
[31:25]
have to say anything first?
>> Okay. Can I have a motion? Hope
[31:29]
everyone's had a chance to take a look.
>> Make a motion to pay the bills.
[31:34]
» Would anyone else like to pay the bills?
I'll second.
[31:37]
» There you go. And roll call.
>> On roll call. Bennon.
[31:41]
» Yes.
>> Herrick,
[31:42]
» yes.
>> Pedavano.
[31:44]
» Uh, yes to all recuse from the hour
town.
[31:52]
» Uh,
>> man.
[31:53]
» Yes.
>> Flynn.
[31:54]
» Yes. Motion carries.
>> Okay. The next thing is we are going to
[31:58]
open the meeting to the public. Uh, does
anyone from the public have anything
[32:03]
they would say? Oh, surprise surprise.
Would you like to come? You have to come
[32:08]
to the microphone and speak in clearly.
>> Want to sit down?
[32:12]
» Name and address, please.
>> Do you have a What? Are you giving us
[32:16]
your report? He
>> has notes.
[32:19]
» No, it's something else.
>> It's just one page though.
[32:23]
» So, you're shocked.
>> Let's go. Mr. Brown.
[32:27]
» John Brown. Still at 417.
>> John, [laughter] is that on? See if it's
[32:31]
on. The green light. It wasn't on
before.
[32:33]
» Hold the green light. I mean, hold the
button until the green light.
[32:36]
» Can you hear it?
>> Oh, John can hear you.
[32:38]
» Green light's on. Test.
>> Oh, that's better.
[32:41]
» Ah, okay. I'm still John Brown at 41
Sterling Avenue. Um, two weeks ago I
[32:48]
stood at the same spot after the
presentation of of the budget
[32:54]
[clears throat] and at that time
I had concerns
[33:00]
with the stated surplus
uh that remained and I stated that it
[33:07]
was $1.2 million if you recall. If you
don't, you can watch it on the video.
[33:14]
It's at 34 minutes and 10 seconds. So,
I'll give you the reference
[33:17]
» into our minds. Continue.
>> At that point, Mr. Wilcox said there is
[33:23]
not 1.2 million left. There is really
2.2 million left because of that
[33:29]
interfund issue.
>> Yeah.
[33:32]
» And he stated that at 3450.
Um, again, you can verify that
[33:39]
we had two weeks in between and there's
been discussions
[33:43]
and I I gotta commend Adrian for acting
as the referee, punching bag and
[33:49]
sparring partner at times. Uh, but
during those discussions, I decided to
[33:56]
ask Mr. Wilcox in a different form and I
I propo I posed two questions to him.
[34:04]
one was that if he were to fill in or he
were to remake the slide which was the
[34:11]
last slide in your package okay and it's
entitled budget highlights there are two
[34:18]
figures that are on that slide the first
one I don't have any uh qums with
[34:22]
» now you might need to what is the figure
just without getting into details say
[34:27]
quickly what
>> the first figure was the the amount
[34:29]
that's used as surplus into revenue
>> okay
[34:32]
» okay The second figure is the surplus
remaining as of the end of the year.
[34:39]
That's what I was stating the 1.2.
Um so what I asked Mr. Wilcox through
[34:46]
through aging um if you were to redo
that slide, if you had to redo that
[34:52]
slide, what would be the second figure
in that? And I yet I did that because on
[34:58]
that slide that was presented, there was
only one figure. In other words, the
[35:03]
remainder was not on the slide. Whereas
in the past four maybe five years, that
[35:09]
figure had always been shown going back
to Chuck Cuchia when he was the CFO
[35:15]
through um uh Sherry through Steve even.
I think he probably presented it maybe
[35:22]
once. Um that was always part of the
presentation. That is what I was
[35:27]
referring to.
Okay. So
[35:32]
when I received the answer, which was
today, Steve responded in an email
[35:39]
saying that he would have put $1.2
million as what was remaining as of the
[35:45]
end of 2025.
The same number that I said to you.
[35:50]
Okay? So it wasn't wrong. It was
correct. I know what Steve is saying.
[35:57]
The interfund transfer would bring 900.
>> Well, it will it will bring it in the
[36:03]
future. It's not here.
>> It was forwardlooking. Yeah.
[36:06]
» Okay. Accountants normally don't talk in
terms of you know I hope I wish I pray
[36:12]
you know it may be you know it's it's
documented in
[36:16]
» Isn't that why he wrote the 1.2 because
the 900's already gone and it's got to
[36:20]
come back in the future.
>> Yes.
[36:22]
» And I and I expect that. Okay. I in fact
I hope it happens and I I I don't have
[36:29]
any reason to do believe it.
>> He has to do worse happen yet.
[36:33]
» Correct.
>> And in fact as I stand here right now
[36:36]
» all of you you have $1.2 million.
>> Correct.
[36:39]
» You don't have the amount until that's
transferred back until Sher does the
[36:45]
transfer and and I don't think any of us
know if that was even done yet.
[36:49]
» No, it won't be. I think it'll be more
like the fall, right?
[36:52]
» Yeah, that's that's what I thought. can
only be done in November, December, and
[36:56]
January.
>> It'll be the end of the year
[36:58]
» in February.
>> So, you can keep asking us about that.
[37:00]
» So, you don't have a penny more than
what I told you.
[37:03]
» Okay? And and once that transfer, I
understand it. The transfer is going to
[37:07]
happen. Okay? At the end of the year,
you'll you'll know exactly depending
[37:12]
upon what you spend in the rest of the
year,
[37:14]
» right?
>> Going forward. Okay? So I I just want to
[37:18]
clarify that and to make everybody
understand and you know it brings to a
[37:24]
point something I've been harping on for
several years that presentation should
[37:30]
be done when the budget is introduced.
We wouldn't have to go through all of
[37:36]
this.
>> It's it's almost like telling me what's
[37:39]
in the soup as I'm eating it.
I know what you're saying and I know we
[37:43]
discussed this and we had all agreed oh
yeah let's have it early but then we
[37:47]
were told that we were not allowed to do
that by am I wrong about or
[37:51]
misremembering that
>> you can't have the public hearing
[37:54]
» you can't have public hearing for the 28
days that was why
[37:58]
» but you can have a discussion on the
budget you can do the presentations
[38:02]
there is plenty of of town
>> it's different than public hearing
[38:06]
» so we could do the presentation
>> but you can't entertain questions or
[38:10]
statements So we so so would you be able
to control yourself
[38:15]
» if we had a presentation
>> control myself and not and you were not
[38:19]
allowed to speak you would not be
allowed to say anything but I mean I
[38:24]
think we can take this under advisement.
One other thing that I will say happened
[38:29]
this year because of the delay with the
state getting us their information uh
[38:33]
through and also all this crazy business
that happened with the insurance and
[38:38]
other things. The budget went later than
we would have liked. We
[38:42]
» Everybody got a delay.
>> I know. So, so we could have probably
[38:46]
had some additional meetings, but then
that would have just put off passing it
[38:50]
which was kind of that creates a certain
number of problems because you're on the
[38:54]
temporary budget. So, we were
>> there was two meetings in between which
[38:59]
allowed
>> but it wasn't the 28 days that's the
[39:01]
problem. So, we were aware of what you
said and then we got told that what we
[39:06]
had thought we could do we couldn't do.
But we will take this under advisement
[39:09]
and we will try to see if next year will
be a more normal year.
[39:13]
» All that's all I can ask.
>> And you when you have questions, you
[39:15]
need to ask them because we're here.
Don't wait till the last minute.
[39:19]
» Except for on that day if there's a
presentation and no one's allowed to
[39:22]
speak.
>> Yeah. Oh, yeah. No, then don't. Yes. Ex.
[39:25]
I take it all back. I retract what I
said. And and I just want to address
[39:29]
Claire's comment about what I said to
her. I don't even remember saying that,
[39:34]
but both you and Adrian said I did.
>> And I believe you. I believe.
[39:38]
» Absolutely. I I almost flew over and I
believe I even said, "I'm going to
[39:42]
remind you of that at the next meeting."
>> And I thought about it. I thought, "Why
[39:45]
would I say that?" BECAUSE IT WAS TRUE.
>> MY DIARY,
[39:49]
» I actually thought about what and and
for for those of you who weren't here,
[39:53]
uh Claire said I said it was a good
budget. And looking back
[40:00]
based upon the information I had, I
probably thought that for one thing, I
[40:05]
didn't find any blatant errors. I didn't
find any, you know, holes that could
[40:10]
have been used to fill gaps. Uh,
other than the um previous suggestions I
[40:17]
had in which I was declared the uh what
was it?
[40:22]
» I don't know. But I've never seen
>> Oh, the Grinch.
[40:24]
» The Grinch. The Grinch of Maywood. So,
>> I don't know. But I've never seen
[40:26]
anybody backpedal in the same and not
move. [laughter]
[40:29]
» You haven't moved a spot, but you've
been backpedaling this whole time. I've
[40:32]
never seen
>> I will remind you that you suggested
[40:34]
cancelling Christmas.
>> All right. The [laughter] the other
[40:36]
point was I I I
didn't see anything in the budget that
[40:40]
that cleared to being bad. Um and I was
looking at the border towns. The
[40:46]
information I had at that time, the ones
I was concentrating on were the ones
[40:50]
that literally border our town. And
there were Hackin Sacks which had a
[40:54]
10.7% increase. Elwood Park which had
16.7%
[40:59]
increase.
>> Third year with 7%.
[41:02]
» She lives there. She knows they're
double digits.
[41:04]
» They're the worst county through through
the pain. Um you know all the other
[41:08]
towns were higher and that's why I made
that statement when I had the full
[41:12]
information.
>> You know I I have a question.
[41:16]
» Yes.
>> If you sir you want to go down this
[41:18]
road. If the CFO came in in two weeks,
>> right,
[41:22]
» and did the transfer and now there's 2.2
million in surplus,
[41:26]
» right?
>> Does the does the C whatever you gave
[41:29]
does it go to a B+?
>> Yeah, it might. Okay, just question.
[41:33]
» And can we serve Crow?
>> BUT BUT [laughter] YOU KNOW
[41:37]
» YOU KNOW what you can't
>> How many black birds were baked?
[41:41]
» You can't spell CLA without a C in it.
[laughter]
[41:45]
» OH,
>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH. That that was a bit
[41:49]
much. Okay, let's uh thank you, Mr.
Brown. Um on that note, I will close the
[41:57]
public portion and move on to
correspondence uh and report of the
[42:01]
burough clerk.
>> Thank you, Council President. Um I do
[42:05]
not have any correspondence for
tonight's meeting. Um my report was
[42:10]
going to be progress, but then Greg
had a bell go off in my head. Um
[42:15]
» I hope it didn't hurt. No. Um, did the
Shade Tree Commission um, look at that
[42:22]
ordinance?
>> Not yet. We haven't had a meeting. I
[42:25]
know. I know. I know.
>> We have to get that done.
[42:27]
» Because I think we tried to do this a
couple years ago and it kind of got like
[42:31]
lost in the mist.
>> It didn't get lost.
[42:34]
» Just we
>> when they first came out with the model
[42:38]
ordinance and they kind of said they
wanted everyone to do it. It wasn't
[42:41]
really clear that you had to do it.
>> Yeah. We have to do it and we have to
[42:45]
get it. Shade Tree Commission,
you know, they're kind of being put in a
[42:50]
position where guys, just so you know
what this is, they want us to update the
[42:53]
shade shade tree ordinance. And you
know, our shade tree commission involves
[43:00]
our burrow trees, which is that first 10
feet from the curb and the residences
[43:05]
and the public grounds, you know, the
parks and things like that. They they
[43:09]
want us now to pass an ordinance where
we're going to start
[43:15]
regulating, for lack of a better word,
bigger trees on people's private
[43:20]
property. So that if you're going to
take down a big tree, you have to
[43:24]
replace it by a certain number of trees.
And if not, you have to put money into a
[43:29]
shade tree bank. And the problem with
this, in their opinion, and I think they
[43:33]
have a point, is who's going to enforce
this? because it isn't going to be these
[43:40]
resident commissioners who were on the
shade tree and so and and they really
[43:46]
were concerned I mean look preserving
large trees is important but they also
[43:53]
don't want to engender any animosity
towards the shade tree in you know by
[43:59]
telling homeowners that they can't take
down trees in their backyard. So they
[44:03]
they
were supportive of the concept, but they
[44:06]
were concerned about the specifics they
were being asked to do. So now we're
[44:10]
being told we have to pass this or we're
not going to be in compliance with the
[44:14]
D. And I don't really know what the
repercussions of not being in compliance
[44:18]
with the D is, but I assume it's not
good and not something we're going to
[44:22]
do. So uh the shade tree is going to
look at it. I I'll you know what? I
[44:25]
should also share a copy of it with all
of you so you can take a look at it. Um
[44:31]
it's just a big it's an ordinance. It's
a sample ordinance with red highlights
[44:35]
where you can change things. So
>> set fees and stuff like that
[44:39]
» set fees and things like that. And so
one option is to say you can't do this
[44:43]
but the fee if you do it is zero. Um but
then that might encourage people. So we
[44:48]
have to think about it. Um
it's a little it's just a little
[44:53]
balancing a few things. So anyway, we
have to deal with that.
[44:57]
» Anything else?
>> Progress.
[44:59]
» Okay. Thank you. And administrators
report from the administrator.
[45:04]
» Thank you, madame council president. Um
[clears throat]
[45:07]
the uh just want to mention something.
The the tournament they had the uh the
[45:12]
MA had their tournament.
>> Yes.
[45:14]
» Uh teams from all over the county came
and the
[45:20]
it was rave reviews for our field. I'm
told it's being called the complex.
[45:25]
» Nice.
>> They call it the complex in quotes. So,
[45:28]
with a capital T and a capital C. So,
they they said the fields were
[45:32]
beautiful. Um, obviously, whatever the
conditions are in terms of uh there's a
[45:37]
little little bit of weeds in some
places. We're working on that right now,
[45:41]
but other than that, they just loved it.
The lights um baseball on at night uh
[45:46]
over there is just something special to
see.
[45:48]
» Lights are amazing.
>> Yeah,
[45:50]
» they really are.
>> Um, Field of Dreams. There you go. We
[45:55]
[laughter]
we we've I have an update on one of the
[45:59]
situation on Jagger. Um some people I'm
sure we all know about. It's been on
[46:04]
Facebook. There's a um
>> I don't get into detail, but there's
[46:09]
there's um
>> a house with serious property
[46:12]
maintenance issues.
>> Yes.
[46:13]
» That are very concerning to the
neighbors who are very upset.
[46:15]
» Yes. Yes. Yes.
>> Rightly so.
[46:17]
» Um they have been remedied. So I I have
>> remedied or we've made proc progress.
[46:25]
» They have been remedied.
>> Oh my lord.
[46:27]
» So the sewer there's there was a sewer
there was an issue with the sewer
[46:31]
backing up into the basement. Uh I have
a receipt from the the the attorney for
[46:38]
the trustees sent me a receipt. Um they
cleaned the sewer out. They did a they
[46:44]
snaked it. So it everything is is
working now. And they also have a
[46:48]
company coming in or by this point
probably came in already to uh clean out
[46:54]
the basement completely. Um and with
that we the there was a you guys I'm
[47:01]
sure you guys were told but the mayor
came in and spoke with the building
[47:06]
department and also spoke with the um
>> social worker the trustees
[47:11]
» and the trustees and basically kicked
this into gear. got this going uh got
[47:17]
them moving uh lit a fire under the
butts of the people that he needed to
[47:20]
light a fire under the butts from the
county and got this moving forward. Um
[47:25]
and at that point our building
department moved into action and put
[47:29]
some colorful stickers on the doors
which really got things moving and um
[47:35]
there we are. So my my understanding is
everything's taken care of and there
[47:41]
might be a change going forward. Um, I
don't need to get into that, but there
[47:45]
might be a change going forward where
this doesn't happen again. Hopefully,
[47:48]
the the the instigators of this will not
be doing this again.
[47:52]
» Is there uh
>> I'm talking in code. I'm sorry. No, I
[47:56]
understand
in first of all, the front is just in
[48:01]
general disrepair. Is there going to be
some, you know, lawnmowing in the front
[48:06]
and cleanup of the situation in the
backyard, the outside? My understanding
[48:11]
is um there might be a new situation
over there where the people that that
[48:17]
» No, I understand what you're talking
about.
[48:19]
» They're going to be fixing it up.
>> Okay.
[48:21]
» But but as it stands now, everything's
going to be brought into uh code.
[48:25]
» Yeah. So all the stuff outside is going
to be removed.
[48:28]
» Correct. Everything that's out there
will be removed. A company's going to
[48:31]
come in and take care of that if they
haven't already. Um and everything's
[48:35]
working as it should. So there'll be no
need to do what was being done.
[48:40]
Although I don't know how that could
even possibly be the solution, but it
[48:43]
was. Um, but anyway, it's taken care of.
>> Will there be followup by the building
[48:49]
department or property maintenance to
ensure that the these things are
[48:55]
done?
>> Um, we don't have we don't have access
[48:58]
to go in there,
>> but on the out the things that they were
[49:01]
just discussing on the on the
>> Yeah, we'll be able to we'll be the the
[49:04]
the count the board of health will be
able to go the you know, as you know, we
[49:07]
use the county for our border of health.
we have a a shared service,
[49:10]
» they'll be able to go and confirm
because there was a notice of violation
[49:14]
on that. So, they'll have to know uh go
there and double check to make sure that
[49:17]
it was remediated. So, they'll be able
to tell uh check on that. Uh a lot of
[49:22]
the the fines that were going to be
racked up were at some point kicked into
[49:27]
daily fines. So, there was an incentive
for the the attorneys to take care of
[49:31]
this and and get everything taking get
everything done so that they weren't
[49:35]
incurring those daily fines.
>> Okay. So, if you could keep us updated
[49:39]
about I will
>> that we would be very appreciative.
[49:42]
» Yep. Um,
we got the the camp started on Monday.
[49:48]
Um, going well. Uh,
>> Barb, do we have the uh I'm sorry. Do we
[49:53]
have that resolution? I spaced on that
>> for the director.
[49:56]
» Yeah. Yes.
>> Okay. uh you'll see there's a a
[49:59]
resolution to name uh the the
>> assistant
[50:03]
» assistant director right now as acting
director and there will be the pay
[50:07]
increase obviously because she's doing
the position of that of uh the director.
[50:11]
There was an issue a health issue with
the the director that would have been
[50:15]
there this year. Uh we're praying that
he comes back next year, but in the
[50:19]
meantime we have somebody also that will
be replacing her as the assistant. Just
[50:23]
moving everybody's basically just moving
up the line. Um, I'm hearing great
[50:27]
things so far about the camp. We got a
brand new ping pong table because the
[50:30]
other two were ratty and older. We got a
real sturdy one now. Um, and um,
[50:37]
everything that I'm hearing right now,
at least in this early stage, people are
[50:41]
happy.
>> Do you want to talk about the cutting
[50:44]
through?
[50:48]
» We could.
>> I think it might be a good idea.
[50:50]
» Okay. Um, maybe. Okay. Yeah. Um,
as you guys know, because you guys are
[50:58]
the ones who did it, you had the the
guts to actually do this. Um, you put
[51:01]
the gate on the entrance to Duvier.
Unfortunately, I think a couple people
[51:08]
came in and complained and it was never
closed, so it's just there. Um, we've
[51:13]
had several
near close calls last year and we've had
[51:19]
one that I know for sure since the
pool's been open, a close call. And by
[51:23]
close call, I mean either a kid, either
a child or on a bike or a child walking
[51:29]
or an an older adult walking across from
one side of the parking lot to the side
[51:35]
that's up against the fence and having
to either stop or speed up because a car
[51:42]
is coming through the drive. Basically,
they use the parking lot like a road
[51:46]
parking lot as a cut through to not have
to go on to Central to get onto Route 17
[51:51]
or vice versa. not have to go through
Hergusell and all that. They just come
[51:55]
through the they just come through um
from 17 that way and go into Maywood.
[52:00]
They they basically skip they beat
traffic. But that's all well and good in
[52:07]
the winter, fall, and spring, but in the
summer when we have camp and the pool,
[52:13]
it's a real hazard. And it's not a
matter of when of of if. It's a matter
[52:18]
of when somebody actually gets hit by a
car. I'm not saying it's going to be a
[52:24]
life and death situation. Could be, but
I mean, just touching somebody's body
[52:28]
with a vehicle is going to do damage,
especially if it's a kid. Now, many
[52:32]
times these kids are so hopped up on
sugar or just happy to go either to the
[52:37]
pool or leave the pool. They just had a
great time. They're excited. They're on
[52:41]
their bike. They just took their bike
off the bike rack and they want to go
[52:44]
home and they're not thinking. They're
talking to their friends and all it
[52:47]
takes is that split second and the kids
hit by a car. And because these people
[52:51]
don't necessarily
drive slow through there either, they go
[52:56]
at the speed they want to get to. They
want to get to Route 17 basically is
[53:01]
what they're trying to do or get home.
So, they're not exactly going slow. Um,
[53:05]
and even if they are, if a kid's not
looking, it doesn't matter because
[53:08]
they're going to get hit. So, what I
would ask you guys to think about, and I
[53:12]
know this was the chief's recommendation
from day one, which is during the
[53:16]
summer, and he could speak to this um if
he wants to, but I I have talked to him
[53:20]
about it. During the summer when the
pool and camp is open, Duvier is just
[53:24]
closed. The entrance from Duvier is just
closed. We get some kind of signage and
[53:29]
we put it on Lennox saying that it's
closed so people don't come in traffic
[53:34]
cuz once you come in on Duvia, it's a
dead end over there. unless you go
[53:37]
through. If it's closed, you have to
back up. So, if we have some kind of
[53:40]
signage on Lennox letting people know
that there's no cut through. And then
[53:44]
now the only way to get into the pool or
out of the pool is uh central Brook
[53:50]
Central Hericell Brookke. Uh that's the
way to get in and out. Now, you're ahead
[53:56]
of time because you guys dealt with this
prior uh probably around 2020 2021ish.
[54:03]
Um, people on Lennox or people close to
Lennox Toma are going to be real angry
[54:08]
because they can't drive to the pool now
that way. They can walk to the pool.
[54:14]
They could ride their bikes to the pool,
but they can't drive into the pool that
[54:17]
way. Nor can they exit the pool that
would they be able to exit the pool to
[54:20]
go home. So, they are going to have to
go out and it's going to be an
[54:24]
imposition. I get it. But the the
thought is what's a bigger imposition
[54:30]
having to spend the rest of your summer
in a cast because you broke your leg cuz
[54:34]
you got hit by a car if and that's the
best case scenario. You you're you know
[54:38]
you're tied up in traction because
you're a little kid and now you can't
[54:42]
enjoy the rest of the summer because I
live on Lennox and I didn't want to have
[54:46]
to go all the way around on Central. And
I'm not picking on people on Lennox. It
[54:49]
could be anywhere in town. It could be
Lafayette Avenue. I just didn't want to
[54:52]
have to go on central and the long way.
>> But that's what we're going to run into.
[54:58]
That's the kind of um obstacles push
back we're going to get. But I think
[55:02]
when people realize that we have had
um several that I know of for sure last
[55:07]
year two near me miss miss miss miss
[55:08]
miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss
[55:08]
miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss
miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss
[55:08]
miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss
miss miss miss miss misses and those are
[55:09]
the ones reported not everybody report
they don't go back and tell um
[55:14]
» I mean one of the reasons that the camp
is maybe we we didn't have as many near
[55:21]
misses because last year anytime the
kids cross we're
[55:27]
» you know they it was being blocked by an
officer and what we're doing
[55:31]
and the direct director. I mean, that's
the only reason, but it's specifically
[55:36]
we have to do that because of that crazy
cut through.
[55:40]
» So, now we're doing that with the camp.
So, that solves the issue for the camp.
[55:44]
It does.
>> So, that's an extra. We're bringing an
[55:46]
officer,
>> the officer comes down and and the w
[55:50]
director takes care or or the camp
director will take care of closing
[55:53]
closing off for those few minutes while
the kids walk down or actually some for
[55:57]
the most part they get dropped off down
there. So they don't have to walk down
[56:00]
but they do it for when they walk back.
But that does all that does is we are
[56:03]
able to protect
>> the campers for that one walk. We're not
[56:08]
able to protect for the rest of the day.
>> We have to institute something like that
[56:12]
because of the cut through. Correct.
>> Right. I mean, still not that we
[56:14]
wouldn't walk the kids, you know, during
the time, but you know, it's even more
[56:18]
we've got this extra blocking off that's
happening just for
[56:22]
» I I think and what I'm suggesting is at
least for now, I'm just suggesting the
[56:27]
council think about just during camp
season and pool season. I'm not during
[56:32]
that should honestly that should not be
a cutthrough for anything because it's
[56:35]
just wear and tear, wear and tear. And
we also do have uh senior groups that
[56:40]
are there. I mean,
>> it's not as frequent.
[56:43]
» People coming and going to coaches,
>> but at the end of the day, that's what's
[56:46]
happening. That's a cut through and I
can't stand that because it's wear and
[56:51]
tear.
>> I anytime I've ever been down in the
[56:53]
pool, there's always somebody flying
through that lot.
[56:56]
» Yeah.
>> The day we did the Pro Lodge Day of
[56:58]
Impact, they were staging out there
getting stuff into the into the cars. We
[57:01]
almost got hit three times. Yeah.
>> And then somebody actually had the
[57:04]
audacity to lean on their horn because
we were in their way as they were trying
[57:07]
to fly through that. People were doing
that with the with the truck like the
[57:11]
the the tractor thingy. What are those
things called? A front loader. Uh when
[57:15]
they were putting the mulch in and
people were just like this person was
[57:18]
honking on the horn. I like walked
around. I'm like,
[57:21]
» is there a gate at the other end?
>> There's there's a there's a it's not the
[57:25]
trial gate. It's actually the black gate
that matches the fence.
[57:28]
» Would it make more sense to maybe close
that one as opposed to on Duvier?
[57:35]
» Chief, you want to speak to that one?
>> Yeah, cuz they'll get all the way
[57:37]
through. I'll go through
>> the main entrance.
[57:41]
It's a wider open
[57:47]
[clears throat]
>> and the kids play basketball during the
[57:51]
summer camp right there as well. I know
we use the big blue
[57:55]
barriers, but
>> they're going back and forth. It's not
[57:59]
like they only cross that the one time.
>> I think if if if we do close it, um I
[58:06]
don't know. We have to definitely let
>> we need signage
[58:10]
» that that it's being closed. Yeah. So
that barrier a barrier cross duty there
[58:14]
with a sign saying I I mean we could hit
all kinds of I know we make jokes every
[58:20]
five minutes like oh put in the hour
town but we would put in the hour town.
[58:23]
» Um
>> the hour town
[58:24]
» we joke around like
>> the physical signs of
[58:27]
» we would and we would put it we would
put it on the digital sign. Hey this is
[58:30]
closed. um is during this time get you
know um they have those signs like that
[58:35]
we could put right there on the corner
like as of such and such a date this
[58:40]
road will be closed.
>> Yeah. I think that with the chief uh one
[58:43]
of the things I talked about with the
chief one of the things that popped up
[58:46]
was like that the you know those signs
that almost say um uh like wet when the
[58:53]
ground's wet you put it up it's like a
triangle. Something similar to that. not
[58:57]
as flimsy obviously, but something like
that that's that's there that just
[59:00]
basically speaks to this is closed
during this time because I I don't think
[59:05]
if you put some and it's right there
because if you put something that's like
[59:08]
a on a on a pole or something, it's
easily missed and you don't
[59:12]
» you're talking about ava electronic
signed. I think I
[59:16]
» Are you talking about electronic sign or
a sign?
[59:19]
» Electronic sign. I think that's what
she's talking about. electronic sign
[59:21]
like the ones that say like road work
happening here
[59:23]
» construction
>> like the construction coming
[59:26]
» is indicating that's not what he wants
>> I think just I think just what I think
[59:30]
what do they I forgot what they call
those signs
[59:32]
» like a warning like a yellow sign or
something that says
[59:35]
» a sandwich sign you're think
>> would you like to
[59:39]
» a plastic folding sign
>> yeah put it on Lennox Avenue at so you
[59:44]
can see it as you're coming down the
block can't put it on the side of the
[59:47]
road
>> gate closed then can and leave.
[59:50]
Otherwise, everybody's going to go down
beer and now you're going to have
[59:54]
» and would you put it also at Lennox and
Maywood Avenue
[59:57]
» to stop them from
>> But I think after you guys make a
[1:00:01]
decision to close it, you do a rave, you
get the signs made, you give a deadline
[1:00:06]
when it's and then that's it.
>> And then people that don't know are
[1:00:09]
going to cut down Lennox. They're going
to see it before they get to do and
[1:00:12]
they're going to turn on.
>> Yeah.
[1:00:15]
» And go around.
>> Will help. Sorry.
[1:00:18]
» So if we [laughter]
The re the reason why we couldn't
[1:00:21]
» she just made a scrabble a word of
search for that.
[1:00:24]
» There's a there's people that live on
they live on there. So,
[1:00:26]
» right. You can't close that. And will we
reopen it at 8:00 once the pool is
[1:00:30]
closed or are we keeping it closed?
>> No, just it's going to be locked. It
[1:00:33]
would just
>> for the whole summer season.
[1:00:36]
» Yes. Yeah.
>> Okay.
[1:00:37]
» And then just keep everybody safe. And I
would ask that when you send out the
[1:00:40]
messaging that the just my opinion as
the editor uh the first thing you know
[1:00:47]
for you know the utmost safety of of
children and pedestrians the decision
[1:00:52]
has been made so people understand that
this is like a safety issue.
[1:00:55]
» Editor for as minute I just thought the
newspaper I was like did you
[1:00:58]
» No no no I'm not the newspaper editor.
I'm just an editor editor.
[1:01:01]
» I get it. I get it. But but to put that
first that this is about this is you
[1:01:06]
know it in you know with the with the
children and pedestrian safety being of
[1:01:11]
utmost importance the difficult decision
has been made toah
[1:01:15]
no but in the messaging.
>> Yeah. I mean we get listen I I I think
[1:01:18]
this
>> I think it should have it
[1:01:21]
» we should have this is something I would
I would have done this when I was the
[1:01:26]
mayor. I would have the council we would
have put this together. I didn't think
[1:01:29]
of it. You guys actually did it. Yeah.
>> But then, you know, when people
[1:01:35]
» when people complain,
>> we have to have the courage of our
[1:01:37]
convictions. And I don't think our, you
know, it's one thing for a police
[1:01:41]
officer
who is trained to do traffic control, to
[1:01:47]
be stopping traffic, but to have our
wreck director down there do, you know,
[1:01:52]
holding off mad drivers with her body is
like insane. And that we had someone
[1:01:56]
doing that.
>> Young kids [clears throat] get verbally
[1:01:59]
abused. She shouldn't have to do that.
It's it's
[1:02:03]
» Can we the the pool membership? Don't we
have all their
[1:02:06]
» Yes, we can.
>> Yeah, we have we
[1:02:07]
» that's our target audience.
>> We have their emails
[1:02:11]
» people cutting through
>> from community pass.
[1:02:13]
» You know who else?
>> Well, I don't care.
[1:02:15]
» The business I agree with Ryan on that.
The businesses on Brook Avenue need to
[1:02:19]
be notified too.
>> Yeah.
[1:02:22]
» Community that and I think we should
think about working on Halcraftoft next
[1:02:26]
» but I don't want to get ahead of
ourselves.
[1:02:28]
» Yeah. talk if we're eliminating
>> fire tonight, sir. [laughter]
[1:02:34]
» All right. Shall we move the things
along? I I would like to say the air
[1:02:38]
conditioning has come on. So, now we've
gotten into
[1:02:40]
» Where are we with this? Where do we
leave off?
[1:02:43]
» It sounds like Well, is everyone in
agreement? Do we need a motion or a
[1:02:46]
resolution, John, or is it just Does
anyone object?
[1:02:49]
» I mean, the gates's in place already.
It's just a matter of locking
[1:02:51]
» to the plan that we have.
>> What would the date be that we're giving
[1:02:54]
that this thing is closed?
>> The camp started already. No, I know.
[1:02:57]
But we can't just close it. I mean, we
can
[1:02:59]
» I don't know how long it takes to make
signs up. So, I mean, to get
[1:03:02]
» How long does it take you to make a
sign?
[1:03:04]
» Gary's not here. Um,
>> well, then it can be faster.
[1:03:08]
» Maybe as of July 1st. It's the 23rd.
That gives a week.
[1:03:12]
» I I'll find out from Gary tomorrow.
>> Okay. I mean, really, as soon as
[1:03:16]
possible.
>> Do we even need this? I I'm I But I know
[1:03:18]
we've bered the sign thing. Can't we do
lawn signs which could be printed in
[1:03:23]
like two or three days and they're back
front and back and we can put them on
[1:03:27]
the corners of Maywood still.
>> It's a lot easier to say I I missed
[1:03:30]
that. I didn't see it. You know,
>> we buy 10 of them and line them down.
[1:03:35]
» I I think that I I hear what you're
saying, but I think to the chief's
[1:03:38]
point, it's it's in it's there. You
can't miss it in the road. It's a lot
[1:03:42]
easier to ignore signs that are on a
lawn because I mean they're they're
[1:03:45]
ubiquous. They're everywhere. one says,
you know,
[1:03:47]
» I'm trying to go for expediency and and
visual. If you got 10 of these signs
[1:03:51]
lined up and it say road closed, you
know, duvier closed [clears throat] as
[1:03:56]
» could, for the sake of moving things
along, c can we is it amanable to
[1:04:02]
everybody if the chief and Adrian and
Gary put their heads together with the
[1:04:07]
understanding that we want everybody to
be safe and we want this to happen as
[1:04:10]
quickly as possible and you will keep us
surprised. And if anyone has a
[1:04:14]
completely massive objection, please
alert the hounds. Okay. Is that fair?
[1:04:20]
Can we do that? All right. Let's move
on.
[1:04:22]
» Okay.
>> Um, so what what are we up to, Barbara?
[1:04:25]
» Uh, I was just I was actually
>> Oh, you're not done.
[1:04:28]
» No, that was a You brought me to
>> There's more. Wait,
[1:04:31]
» there is there actually isn't more, but
I just I was about to say um That's it.
[1:04:36]
» Do you want to There was the senior
center. You were going to say something
[1:04:38]
about that. No, you don't want to. Just
say it quickly. Don't look at me in that
[1:04:42]
tone.
>> The the senior center is uh being
[1:04:46]
remodeled the out front, the outside re
um
[1:04:50]
» something rehabed. Rehabbed
>> rehabilitated. We have the samples
[1:04:54]
upstairs uh for of the stone of the
siding of the colors. So, anybody wants
[1:04:59]
to take a look um once we pick a final
color, the architect has already done
[1:05:05]
the design. He'll put that into the mix.
we be he'll spit out one of those things
[1:05:09]
where you could look at it on an easel,
>> an elevation.
[1:05:12]
» There you go. And then from there,
>> it's a go.
[1:05:17]
» We're going to have to go out to bid
obviously
[1:05:20]
» and um this money has been bonded for
>> uh and it's ready. It'll be ready to go.
[1:05:26]
hope is to have this taken place if we
can coincide with the the ending of the
[1:05:32]
camp and the beginning of the the
umenior
[1:05:36]
» senior club season
>> with the bids with the bid process
[1:05:40]
» and if that can fall into place
everything works out we might be able to
[1:05:43]
do that work in between.
>> Yeah.
[1:05:46]
» Um
>> make sure you unlock the gate. So
[1:05:49]
everyone go get up there and look at
that if not tonight at some other point
[1:05:53]
so you can see it and and yes we needed
the designs because it has to go out to
[1:05:59]
bed. So that's why that happened. Um all
righty then. Um
[1:06:03]
» so could we bond for our offices next
year
[1:06:06]
» so we can have privacy in our offices?
>> Getting crazy now.
[1:06:11]
» Just throwing that out there.
>> Just throw it out there. So, um, on the
[1:06:15]
list,
>> we're on to committee reports. Should I
[1:06:19]
do the mayor's report or
>> did he give you a report?
[1:06:23]
» He didn't give me his report other than
to talk about
[1:06:27]
» the thing. I mean, I can just quickly do
my report. Um, which isn't that
[1:06:32]
complicated. We had an excellent
meeting. Uh we actually got a small
[1:06:39]
grant from sustainable Jersey for the
SJPSG energy efficiency efficiency
[1:06:46]
partnership program.
It's a $2500 grant program, but it's
[1:06:51]
also technical assistance and Tara,
Doug, Adrian, and I had a an initial
[1:06:57]
like a kickoff meeting. Uh we're going
to have a few more meetings and the
[1:07:00]
whole point of this is to put together a
uh community outreach campaign uh so
[1:07:08]
that we can educate the community about
existing
[1:07:14]
energy efficiency programs that will
help them save money on their electric
[1:07:16]
bills and make their house more energy
efficient. It's there's actually a lot
[1:07:20]
of good programs available that people
don't know about. And one of the things
[1:07:25]
that's besides the $2,500 that's nice is
there's actually additional money
[1:07:30]
available
um like up to 5,000 I think she said for
[1:07:34]
other sorts of things like we were
talking about tablets to sign people in
[1:07:38]
to programs and things like that. Um so
there's potentially more money but they
[1:07:42]
are also willing to do a mailing for us
which a mailing is like $3,000. So
[1:07:50]
that's a great, you know, once it's all
designed, they're going to give us a
[1:07:54]
page, like a desk, a landing page for
information about Maywood and energy
[1:08:00]
efficiency. So we'll be able to send
people to this website. They're also
[1:08:04]
going to help us with collateral like
door hangers and other sorts of things.
[1:08:07]
So, they're bringing a lot of help and
we're going to be able to help the
[1:08:10]
residents and uh we did sort of figure
out in the meeting that we're going to
[1:08:14]
be able to use this uh you know once we
get this stood up and we have this um
[1:08:21]
infrastructure in place to communicate
with everybody when prologus gets going
[1:08:25]
and their community solar project gets
approved we'll be able to use what we've
[1:08:30]
created to communicate with the public
about that and perhaps other things. So,
[1:08:34]
it, you know, it seems like a good
program. We have a couple more meetings
[1:08:39]
set up and we have an a few assignments
and I'm supposed to be sending an email
[1:08:43]
reminding everybody about what they're
doing and I will do that. Um, I also
[1:08:48]
because uh going on with green team
would like to thank the uh Green Team
[1:08:53]
Maywood Arts Collective and the Maywood
Crochet Club for their yarn bomb textile
[1:09:00]
art installation on Pleasant Avenue. Um,
they do this every year. I believe
[1:09:05]
there's actually an international yarn
bomb day. Um, but it's just a fun,
[1:09:11]
wonderful art project that they bring to
the down downtown area. It's very
[1:09:15]
whimsical and um, so it's fun to see the
work that they've done over the year.
[1:09:20]
They who knew, right? They um, they're
picking it up tomorrow in case anybody
[1:09:26]
is curious about that. It's just a short
period of time. Um, and they're still
[1:09:29]
looking for people to come to the green
fair. So, if you know of any
[1:09:32]
organizations that would be appropriate
for that, please turn them on to Tara.
[1:09:37]
Uh, Shade Tree is still collecting um
names for people who are interested in
[1:09:41]
getting trees for the fall planting. And
the other uh big excitement in the
[1:09:46]
Burough of Maywood this week was that
the mobile motor vehicle
[1:09:52]
commission uh I'm like, what does MVC
stand for actually? Motor vehicle
[1:09:56]
commission. Uh the mobile unit came to
Maywood on Saturday. Uh the you know
[1:10:04]
they bring this big trailer. They went
to the library. It's always a very last
[1:10:08]
minute thing apparently when they do it
on a Saturday. They call you on Tuesday
[1:10:12]
and you need to stand this up by
Saturday. So Caitlyn uh who was very
[1:10:19]
helpful and agreeable about doing
something seemingly very last minute.
[1:10:24]
She jumped into action. And we got
Adrian got the flyers updated. We got
[1:10:28]
the information out to everybody. Um
people were able to get real IDs and
[1:10:34]
other things by appointment. You were
able to do things walk up. Uh every
[1:10:38]
single appointment they had was filled.
The uh truck was busy from the minute
[1:10:43]
they opened to the minute they closed.
Uh it they had uh Spanish speaking staff
[1:10:49]
there, so they were able to help people
in uh you know who needed that. and we
[1:10:54]
serve they served over 106 people over
the course of the day. So it was an
[1:10:59]
absolute rip roaring success and uh just
want to thank Caitlyn and Chris Hillman
[1:11:04]
of the DMV for bringing them to us. I
asked him to sign us up for future dates
[1:11:10]
and he said he would keep us in mind but
he's got a lot of people in front of us
[1:11:13]
now. Uh and anyway with that concludes
my report. Uh so who we got? Katherine
[1:11:20]
» progress.
>> Okay Doug. progress as well.
[1:11:24]
» Oh, you guys. Claire
>> progress.
[1:11:27]
» Oh, geez. Louise, [laughter] don't you
want to talk about
[1:11:32]
» Wait, I've got eight things. I
apologize. [laughter]
[1:11:34]
» No, no. Really?
>> No. No.
[1:11:35]
» Ryan,
>> I just I'm very briefly I I was just
[1:11:39]
going to get something on
>> talking agenda
[1:11:42]
» into your mic.
>> Oh, no. Just communicate uh with Barbara
[1:11:47]
and Adrian about getting something on
our next agenda. There's a group um the
[1:11:52]
Northeastern Community Council for the
MS Society came and did a mapping
[1:11:56]
project of walkability of Maywood. So,
they just wanted to come and present
[1:12:02]
their findings like 10 15 minute uh
thing.
[1:12:06]
» Oh, interesting.
>> That's cool. Thank you.
[1:12:09]
» Ryan, do we have the information to to
reach out to them to schedule it?
[1:12:13]
» Yes.
>> Okay.
[1:12:14]
» All right. I'll also copy you. I'll you
you'll be the point. I can share that
[1:12:20]
information,
>> Barbara. Awesome.
[1:12:22]
» Perfect. All right. Thank you.
>> Thank you, Ryan.
[1:12:25]
» Of course,
>> for at least having a report unlike the
[1:12:27]
rest of these guys. Um, okay. So, now
we're on to new business resolutions for
[1:12:33]
consideration.
Um, does any how does everyone feel
[1:12:37]
about this resolution urging the New
Jersey state legislature and governor to
[1:12:43]
repeal the gas tax escalator and restore
accountability to fuel tax increase?
[1:12:50]
Does anyone have any thoughts, opinions,
any interest?
[1:12:54]
» Are there other towns? Obviously, this
is
[1:12:56]
» why that's why I sent it because a lot
of towns are now passing this and
[1:13:01]
spreading it around.
I have to be honest, I don't know much
[1:13:05]
about it or what the implications of it
are. So, I don't feel like I'm
[1:13:09]
particularly prepared to
speak for or against it. Does anyone
[1:13:14]
else have any thoughts?
>> I think if lots of other towns are doing
[1:13:16]
it, we should just hop on the bandwagon.
[laughter]
[1:13:21]
» Okay. How does everybody feel?
>> I definitely feel like we should very
[1:13:25]
least put it on the agenda and so we
could all look at it and discuss it.
[1:13:29]
» All right. So, I'll list it as old
business next month. Okay. So, everyone
[1:13:33]
take a look, see what there is to see.
We can ask
[1:13:38]
I don't know. We can ask, you know,
maybe it's a good idea to ask Lisa and
[1:13:41]
Chris if they can tell us what it's all
about. They might be able to give us
[1:13:43]
some information.
>> And to Cla's point,
[1:13:45]
» it's probably self-explanatory. Usually
they are when they ask you to support
[1:13:48]
something.
>> So, please everyone take a look and read
[1:13:50]
it and we'll [clears throat]
discuss it next meeting.
[1:13:53]
» I was just going to say to Cla's point,
there's usually um strength in numbers.
[1:13:57]
These are the kind of things when you
get the whole all the municipalities as
[1:14:01]
many as possible at least.
>> Well, we have to make sure it's all
[1:14:03]
sometimes you get thrown these things
and then find out that there's
[1:14:06]
» if this assuming that this is something
that's good for New Jersey and the
[1:14:09]
residents and the more municipalities
you get on board.
[1:14:12]
» That's when things move.
>> So, let's hope it is good after
[1:14:16]
reviewing it. Let's hope it is good for
the town for the communities.
[1:14:19]
» That would be great. And then we have
the Bergen County Snow Plow salting
[1:14:22]
agreement for 2026 2028. So this is here
because it's new. Are there any changes
[1:14:28]
here we need to be alarmed about? This
is the county.
[1:14:30]
» Well, no. This is what we So what this
agreement does is the county pays us for
[1:14:36]
our workers who all the county roads and
>> they supply the salt.
[1:14:41]
» They Right. So after snowstorms, Gary
provides me with the individuals and the
[1:14:48]
hours they worked on what streets and
then we submit that and the county pays
[1:14:53]
us.
>> Okay.
[1:14:54]
» For towards the hours going up what
they're paying us then. Yeah. Okay.
[1:14:59]
» Because of the new contract.
>> So do this for the new to for Yeah. for
[1:15:02]
two years.
>> So what do you need us to do here? Agree
[1:15:04]
to put it on the next meeting or do you
want to approve at this meeting?
[1:15:07]
» No, for the next meeting. We have time.
Um,
[1:15:11]
then we already discussed the proposal
from Neglia. There's a block party
[1:15:15]
request for Edel Avenue. Uh, they're
having a party on August 8th if anybody
[1:15:19]
wants to stop by. No, I'm kidding. Um,
shall we uh approve that? Are there any
[1:15:25]
objections?
>> Oh,
[1:15:28]
» does um
>> Oh, we we got the response from the
[1:15:31]
police chief, the fire chief. They've
supplied their um certificate of
[1:15:35]
insurance and they've signed the hold
harmless.
[1:15:38]
» Okay.
>> Okay. Okay, thank you. Good question,
[1:15:40]
Claire. Um, all right. So then I guess
we that is approved and the bylaws. So
[1:15:47]
what do we need to do with this? Do we
need to p pass
[1:15:50]
» a first and a second and a vote?
>> Okay, so we've amended the bylaws
[1:15:57]
to correct
that the municipal alliance was moving
[1:16:02]
uh moved from Jackie now Kyla to Doug.
Uh that was actually something we agreed
[1:16:07]
to in December and got lost in our reorg
shuffle. And we are just officially
[1:16:13]
stating that all of Jackie's committee
assignments or committee positions and
[1:16:19]
liaison positions are now going to be
taken over by Kyla. Um so I just need a
[1:16:26]
first and a second to
>> approve. So Doug,
[1:16:30]
» I'll second.
>> Okay. On roll call. Bennon,
[1:16:33]
» yes.
>> Herrick,
[1:16:34]
» yes. Pavano,
>> yes.
[1:16:36]
» Almond,
>> yes.
[1:16:36]
» Flynn,
>> yes.
[1:16:38]
» Motion carries.
>> Okay. So, here we are with garbage, our
[1:16:42]
favorite topic. Um,
>> garbage.
[1:16:45]
» My understanding, and Barbara, you can
clarify because you'll know more about
[1:16:50]
this probably at this point than I do.
This is basically the bid document going
[1:16:54]
out. So, you guys got a chance to look
at it hopefully. Um, we do need to get
[1:16:58]
it out because I believe the contract's
up in what, August?
[1:17:02]
» It's up in September. We're already in
going to be doing a month month with GA
[1:17:06]
because I have to advertise it and we
cannot accept bids for six months.
[1:17:09]
» Yeah.
>> Six months.
[1:17:10]
» Six months.
>> Okay. So, we have to get crack in here.
[1:17:13]
Obviously, there was a couple of
highlights where the dates were wrong
[1:17:16]
and I'm assuming those are going to get
fixed.
[1:17:18]
» Well, yes, because that right because it
depends on me getting the approval
[1:17:22]
» that you guys were good with it. So, I'm
going to change the date
[1:17:26]
» because that's the last
>> No.
[1:17:28]
» Okay. Well, no, that wasn't the last
time.
[1:17:30]
» It was highlighted so I knew you caught
it already. Um
[1:17:32]
» yeah, so um Councilwoman Smith's name is
going to be change going to be replaced,
[1:17:39]
uh Jackie Demorro. Um the dates of when
the bid is going to be available for
[1:17:45]
pickup, when the bids are going to be
coming back, and then the alternate bids
[1:17:49]
include the suggestion for the once a
week and for the recycling. um if a
[1:17:56]
recycling falls on a major holiday that
it would be picked up the following
[1:18:00]
Saturday
>> and it's clear those are like optional
[1:18:03]
options or
>> they're alter
[1:18:07]
but it but they're optional like are
we're not requiring everybody to
[1:18:11]
» but what do we decide are they I don't
think they're required to bid on all the
[1:18:15]
models
>> I don't think they're yeah they're not
[1:18:17]
required because you don't have to you
know if you like garbage from one
[1:18:21]
company but you like recycling from
another company if you you can do two
[1:18:25]
different companies.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[1:18:27]
» And and if they don't want to bid on the
once a week, they don't have to. But
[1:18:30]
we're not because I want to make sure
that we get as many companies bidding as
[1:18:34]
possible because that's
>> no matter what you do, you're not going
[1:18:36]
to get
>> you're only going to get one. But, you
[1:18:37]
know, I don't want us to do anything to
make it worse.
[1:18:40]
» If you if you're lucky, you may get two.
>> Yeah.
[1:18:44]
» Because you only got one last one.
>> Yeah. I Well, we don't want to drive the
[1:18:47]
one away either. No. [laughter]
>> So, if that's the only thing. All right.
[1:18:51]
Does anybody have any corrections in
addition to the ones that have been
[1:18:55]
identified?
>> No. So, uh, Barbara, what do we have to
[1:18:59]
do tomorrow and get it advertised?
>> All right. So, you don't need a vote on
[1:19:03]
that.
>> No, we already have a resolution for me
[1:19:05]
to go out to to advertise. I just wanted
to make sure everybody was good with the
[1:19:09]
alternates.
>> All right. So, now we are on to the
[1:19:12]
consent agenda.
Um,
[1:19:17]
I just I'm sorry. I have to actually
check one thing really quickly. Um,
[1:19:26]
h
hold please. One. Oh, Barbara.
[1:19:32]
» Oh, it's me. It's me. And I'm just not
being smart. Hold on one second. So, has
[1:19:38]
everybody had a chance to look at all of
these? And uh do we have to form a block
[1:19:44]
and then vote or just vote?
>> No, it's a consent agenda. It's a block.
[1:19:48]
It's we don't do blocks anymore.
>> Okay.
[1:19:50]
» It's a consent.
>> I always feel like that we should do the
[1:19:52]
blocks. Okay. Uh
>> consent agenda is the block
[1:19:56]
» and then we do motion motion discussion.
Is that the order or do we discuss
[1:20:01]
first?
>> You could do the motions and then
[1:20:03]
discuss.
>> All right. Um so motion to move ahead
[1:20:08]
with the consent agenda. I'll make the
motion.
[1:20:10]
» Second.
>> Second.
[1:20:12]
» Okay. I have a question. Um,
does anybody else have a question?
[1:20:17]
First, let me ask.
No, no question. Uh, I just wanted to
[1:20:23]
talk about the number that we are doing
on the 15626
[1:20:30]
and see if are we allowed to talk about
this?
[1:20:34]
» What do you mean the number?
>> The rate. The hourly rate.
[1:20:38]
Yeah. Well,
Karen's officially an employee that
[1:20:43]
hasn't been raced,
>> but this is now a new resolution for a
[1:20:46]
new position.
>> John,
[1:20:49]
» wait.
>> You're going to discuss an employee
[1:20:51]
that's supposed to be raised.
>> Wait, wait, one second. One second. I'm
[1:20:53]
sorry. Are you asking Are you asking
about the rate for the new employee or
[1:20:59]
for the current employee that's moving
up? a
[1:21:01]
» current employee that's moving up
>> the Well, it would
[1:21:06]
» If you're going to change the
compensation down, she has to be right.
[1:21:10]
» No, it's going up.
>> No, she's getting a raise. It's just how
[1:21:13]
» she's going to the same.
>> No, but if it's being it's going if it's
[1:21:15]
going to be different than what she was
told, it has to be discussed.
[1:21:18]
» I mean, it has she has to receive a rice
notice.
[1:21:20]
» Yeah. You just if you're just
questioning what she's already going to
[1:21:24]
get and you're not going to change what
she's already been told, then you're
[1:21:27]
fine.
>> Correct. It's the same as what the um
[1:21:31]
the council approved. It's the same
number the council approved for the
[1:21:36]
director had that director been able to
take over this year.
[1:21:42]
» I don't know what I can say.
>> I think you need to say that based on
[1:21:45]
what then she needs to be raced
>> and that you want this taken off of the
[1:21:49]
consent
>> consent agenda.
[1:21:50]
» Wait, I'm not understanding. It's
>> Well, we haven't discussed the amount.
[1:21:54]
Well, now I mean I can't really talk
about this. Is it possible for us? We
[1:21:57]
can't go into closed.
>> Well, wait. This is the amount that you
[1:22:01]
guys approved for the
>> or a different person with different
[1:22:03]
with different certifications and
different qualifications.
[1:22:07]
» I don't think we're in a position where
we can mess around with with the camp
[1:22:12]
director.
>> She's already started.
[1:22:14]
» Yes.
>> Yeah. No, you can't.
[1:22:16]
» What are we doing here?
>> She's already started. You can't change
[1:22:19]
the salary.
>> We didn't off We didn't authorize.
[1:22:25]
You didn't authorize this. We didn't
want this. She the the the
[1:22:30]
assistant director
>> is had to take over for the director who
[1:22:35]
we appointed because the director had
health issues with you guys.
[1:22:38]
» And did you tell her what her salary was
going today?
[1:22:44]
» Well, it's on the
>> Well, it's on it's on her website.
[1:22:47]
» Yeah.
>> And And how when did she start?
[1:22:51]
» She started Monday.
>> Okay.
[1:22:53]
» I mean, she she would have started
Monday. she would have started working
[1:22:56]
Monday anyway as the assistant.
>> So, so, right, but then she's got she
[1:23:00]
has the other title and she's under the
impression that she's getting blank
[1:23:04]
dollars. She that's in her mind and if
we're going to change that, she has to
[1:23:08]
be right because she's a present
employee and you may be taking a
[1:23:11]
negative action against her.
>> Negative action. You reduce her salary.
[1:23:15]
That's
>> not getting reduced. She's not making
[1:23:17]
anything. She's just being paid
currently what she was appointed at in
[1:23:21]
the beginning of the year. So she ha she
hasn't been given any increase. This
[1:23:25]
would be the
>> I think what John is saying is
[1:23:27]
» No, I know what John's saying. This is
the
[1:23:28]
» from the resolution. She needs to be
rice noticed.
[1:23:31]
» Correct.
>> This So okay. So as long as there's no
[1:23:35]
change, there's no issue.
>> You're fine.
[1:23:36]
» Yeah.
>> Well,
[1:23:39]
» I don't know that we want to be messing
with the camp at this point.
[1:23:43]
» It's not about messing with the camp.
It's just about that.
[1:23:46]
» All right. Well, how does everyone feel
about this? Do you want to table this?
[1:23:51]
get Bryce notice her and have a quick
meeting in two days to discuss it or
[1:23:55]
» it's up to you. I'm just saying that
that's what we needed to do to take it
[1:23:59]
off. That's up to you.
>> Well, I I would like to know what each
[1:24:03]
of you would like to do. Do you want to
wait and do it in two days?
[1:24:05]
» We can make a motion, a second to pull
the resolution and then we could vote on
[1:24:09]
the first and second to pull that
resolution off the consent agenda.
[1:24:14]
» Right. And then
>> and vote on that separately.
[1:24:16]
» Vote on it separately. Either yes or no
or take
[1:24:18]
» Okay. So, let's pull it out of the
consent agenda. vote on the rest of the
[1:24:21]
agenda. Okay.
>> All right. So,
[1:24:23]
» you need a motion to pull it out.
>> I need a motion and a second to pull
[1:24:29]
15626 off of the consent agenda.
>> Oh,
[1:24:36]
do you guys want to pull it?
>> Yeah, that's fair.
[1:24:38]
» I need a first and a second to pull it.
>> I was making the motion for the
[1:24:42]
decision. If you want to pull it, then
make then make the motion.
[1:24:46]
» Okay. So we're using So Doug, you're
making a first to remove this from the
[1:24:51]
consent agenda.
>> Sure.
[1:24:54]
» And then
>> Claire's seconding it to remove it
[1:24:57]
» to to remove it from there. Sure.
>> Okay. So that's to remove. So on roll
[1:25:02]
call, Bennon,
>> yes.
[1:25:06]
» Heric,
>> yes.
[1:25:07]
» Pavano,
>> yes.
[1:25:09]
» Man,
>> no.
[1:25:10]
» Flynn,
>> yes.
[1:25:11]
» Okay, motion carries.
So now the consent agenda
[1:25:17]
that we're voting on is everything
that's there minus 156-26.
[1:25:22]
» I'll make the motion for the consent.
>> Yes. But before we do that, how long can
[1:25:28]
uh Topgolf hold on to that?
>> So discussion
[1:25:32]
» liquor license discussion.
>> Discuss. So both of them, the two that
[1:25:36]
are inactive because we have Topgolf and
we have the UEE. The UEE also has a
[1:25:40]
liquor license that's inactive. What's
you
[1:25:42]
» Urban Edge?
>> Oh, okay.
[1:25:44]
» Urban Edge bought the liquor license off
of the one down here where Amichi is.
[1:25:50]
» He bought that one when he saw that the
>> the old.
[1:25:55]
So he he purchased that when he saw that
Top Golf s was bought for a million
[1:25:59]
dollars. I guess he figured he was going
to make So anyway,
[1:26:02]
» the state has now created quartiles.
So, the Top Golf, if it is not made
[1:26:10]
active by August 1st of next year,
either by them or by selling it to
[1:26:16]
somebody who's going to make it active
by August 1st next year, it's dead.
[1:26:21]
» Excellent. Thank you.
>> So, that means we'll never get that
[1:26:25]
back.
>> Never get that back. The Urban Edge one
[1:26:29]
because it's based the cortiles are
based on how long they've been inactive.
[1:26:33]
So the urban edge one is the following
August 1st. Now I've notified both
[1:26:39]
» 2027 and 2028.
>> Yes.
[1:26:42]
» Okay.
>> So I've notified each of them that I've
[1:26:47]
told Topgolf you have until you have to
either sell it to somebody or you have
[1:26:54]
to make it active or it's dead. There's
no bringing it back. I also let them
[1:26:58]
know the same with Urban Edge
>> incentive for that.
[1:27:02]
» If they sell it to somebody and somebody
comes into my office to do a transfer of
[1:27:06]
these two licenses that they have to be
honest with these people and tell them
[1:27:11]
it needs to be active by this date or
it's dead because I will be telling the
[1:27:17]
people when it comes in, are you aware
that if you do not have this actively
[1:27:22]
working by this date, it's done. So
that's where we're at. What is required?
[1:27:28]
What is required to have it actively
working?
[1:27:30]
» It has to be in a location being used.
>> And I'm sorry, it's August 1st of 27 and
[1:27:37]
» 28. Yes.
>> So, Top Golf 27, Urban Edge is 28.
[1:27:41]
» Yeah.
>> So, that's where we're at. Have you both
[1:27:46]
have been told
>> and you haven't heard anything from
[1:27:48]
them?
>> Top Golf says they're trying to find
[1:27:50]
somebody to buy it. Nobody wants to buy
it. I did get a phone call from somebody
[1:27:55]
asking
about um how long does it take to do it?
[1:27:59]
So, I thought that there might be
somebody there, but they didn't want to
[1:28:02]
give me any information. So, I don't
know what they were asking, what license
[1:28:06]
they were asking about.
>> Okay. Wow.
[1:28:09]
» But yeah. So, yeah. And we'll never get
them back because we are over the um the
[1:28:15]
allotted amount. Most of our liquor
licenses are grandfathered in.
[1:28:21]
» Thank you. your question.
>> Good question, Ryan. He's on the ball.
[1:28:26]
» All right, then.
>> Okay, so
[1:28:28]
» we need a vote still.
>> We have Yeah, we have the first and the
[1:28:31]
second for the vote for the consent
agenda. So, we have Bennon,
[1:28:34]
» yes.
>> Herrick,
[1:28:36]
» yes.
>> Pavano,
[1:28:37]
» yes.
>> Man,
[1:28:39]
» yes.
>> And Flynn,
[1:28:41]
» yes.
>> Motion carries on the consent agenda.
[1:28:44]
» Okay, so
>> you need a motion to approve, deny, or
[1:28:48]
table. Okay. I just would like to pull
the council about what you would like to
[1:28:53]
do and you know because if everyone's
prepared to go ahead then we can go
[1:28:57]
ahead and if people would like to rice
the employee to have a discussion about
[1:29:02]
this topic together
um then we can do that and we I we could
[1:29:07]
do it quickly. We can have a Zoom
meeting in a couple of days. Um
[1:29:11]
» there is a 48 hour notice.
>> Yeah. Well that's what I meant when I
[1:29:15]
said a couple.
>> [laughter]
[1:29:16]
» So, um, you know, I want you guys, we
haven't had an opportunity to discuss
[1:29:21]
this, which is a little bit what I'm
getting at. So, how does
[1:29:26]
» I have no problem leaving it on and
approving it as it stands.
[1:29:30]
» Okay. Claire,
>> I I agree with that.
[1:29:32]
» Okay. So, then
>> Katherine and Ryan, well,
[1:29:38]
» I'm sorry. What What did you both say? I
apologize.
[1:29:40]
» They said they have no problem going
ahead as is.
[1:29:46]
Okay.
>> Yeah.
[1:29:47]
» Right.
>> I mean, I don't if you have a big
[1:29:51]
objection though. I mean, I
>> I I want everyone to have the
[1:29:55]
opportunity.
Yeah. I understand what you're saying on
[1:29:58]
and we didn't discuss.
>> I I I'm going to say that I understand
[1:30:03]
what you're saying in in the idea of to
have the discussion is the only reason I
[1:30:07]
would not just to to I don't know. I
don't know sort of procedural if you
[1:30:12]
will. But I'm okay as it as it stands.
But to your point about
[1:30:16]
» yourself for future
>> not having had the discussion prior, I
[1:30:21]
can understand we've we usually have a
discussion about something pertaining to
[1:30:25]
any employee and
>> just as a matter of procedure, I would
[1:30:28]
have preferred there had been a rice
notice and we'd had a close session and
[1:30:32]
we'd had a discussion. I would have
preferred that. Um and I think I'm just
[1:30:36]
putting a pin in that please for the
future. Thank you.
[1:30:38]
» I don't disagree. I mean I agree. Okay.
There's basically With that,
[1:30:44]
um,
>> a motion to approve.
[1:30:46]
» Can I have a motion to approve on what
do I have to say?
[1:30:49]
» 156-26.
>> I'll make the motion.
[1:30:53]
» Second.
>> I'll second.
[1:30:55]
» Okay. On roll call. Bennon,
>> yes.
[1:30:57]
» Perrick,
>> yes.
[1:30:59]
» Havano,
>> yes.
[1:31:01]
» Man,
>> yes.
[1:31:02]
» Flynn,
>> yes.
[1:31:03]
» Motion carries.
>> Okay.
[1:31:07]
» So,
where are we? Departmental reports.
[1:31:11]
» Departmental reports are on file for all
to read if you are so interested.
[1:31:18]
» And we have the Tanic.
>> Uh
[1:31:22]
Mr. Brown, would you care to give a very
very very
[1:31:28]
short Tanic report?
>> It's on file.
[1:31:30]
» It's on file. [laughter]
>> Do you want Can you keep it brief
[1:31:34]
because we're tired?
>> What were John? Unless you have good
[1:31:38]
news. Do you have good news? Are they
going to stop flying over Maywood?
[1:31:41]
» Or is it just the same?
>> Do they have a new button?
[1:31:44]
» It's not your fault that the tanic is
annoying.
[1:31:47]
» Yeah, we take it out on you. I So I'm
sorry, John. We should only take out the
[1:31:50]
budget stuff on you.
>> I want you to be able to give your
[1:31:52]
report. I just ask that you be, you
know, as
[1:31:56]
» are quick as possible presentation.
[clears throat]
[1:31:59]
[laughter]
>> Slides.
[1:32:01]
» No slides.
>> Dim the lights. Um there were three
[1:32:05]
three reports to um three meetings to
report on. Um normally [clears throat]
[1:32:10]
it is one one every quarter. The first
was the community open forum which was
[1:32:15]
which took place on March 31st. Purpose
of it was to give the public more of a
[1:32:21]
voice and to give them an opportunity to
learn more about it. Surprisingly, there
[1:32:25]
were 92 people that attended this online
at least. And um
[1:32:33]
the actual meeting took place in the
middle of the day. Took place at 3:00,
[1:32:37]
which I asked why did you do that? You
know, I I've never attended a public
[1:32:42]
meeting in the middle of the day. People
are not home. Um so anyway, one of
[1:32:47]
[clears throat] the interesting points
was the most cited problem was not
[1:32:51]
noise. And it was something I've been
harping on for quite some time. It's the
[1:32:55]
volume
>> of the planes going overhead. Yeah.
[1:32:59]
» So other people are hearing the same
thing. Um
[1:33:03]
there was new voices. One was from
Marstown, New Jersey talking about
[1:33:07]
planes that were coming over his house
heading to Cedar Barrow. Um
[1:33:13]
[clears throat]
and I asked the question beyond the 3:00
[1:33:16]
meeting, why wasn't the consultant group
there? and I didn't get a positive
[1:33:21]
answer on that. You think they would
have been concerned? The second meeting
[1:33:25]
was the actual quarterly tanic uh
meeting which took place on April 15th.
[1:33:31]
There were more um town members not
attending than attending. Again, this
[1:33:38]
has been a ongoing thing. Um three of
the four FAA requests are on hold just
[1:33:45]
like I reported last time. It seems like
they can't walk and chew gum at the same
[1:33:50]
time. Um I asked about uh they reported
about FIFA and this the um sale [snorts]
[1:33:58]
forth on the 250th anniversary. Uh they
expect a lot of extra traffic. Uh and
[1:34:05]
the reason why they were preparing to
get the the runways and and all the
[1:34:10]
projects done. Uh the one project that's
that wasn't done completely was the
[1:34:16]
beacon relocation and the demolishing of
the uh control center. They got a new
[1:34:21]
tower up there. Um,
one other interesting thing, there was
[1:34:26]
one member from the public was from
Paramis
[1:34:30]
and he gave forth something I've been
proposing to this committee which was
[1:34:36]
there should be financial incentive to
get the pilots to use the alternate
[1:34:43]
route.
And I didn't know this, but after I got
[1:34:46]
the minutes, I looked him up and he was
a lawyer. And I'm thinking maybe he's,
[1:34:51]
you know, looking for business. Well,
actually, he's right in line with the
[1:34:55]
runway as I am. So, you know, he's
complaining about it, too. There was an
[1:35:00]
executive meeting. Oh, I felt honored.
Uh May 27th,
[1:35:05]
um there was barely a quorum. Um there
were only two items. They talked about
[1:35:10]
uh an environmental study that's going
to be done for two new hangers that are
[1:35:15]
going to be coming up. So if you had any
thoughts of this airport closing down,
[1:35:20]
» I don't think people will be putting
money into it. Um
[1:35:24]
there was also a talk um uh the second
item was um
[1:35:31]
something we're we're not really
associated with which is the planes
[1:35:34]
coming up from the south. And right now
they take a direct line as they do
[1:35:40]
coming south from the north to the
south.
[1:35:45]
They're changing that to do a serpentine
almost looks like the same thing that's
[1:35:50]
being done with Route 4 with Route 17.
>> Uh so somebody beat me to the question,
[1:35:56]
you know, aren't you just doing the same
thing and you you're driving the traffic
[1:36:01]
over it turns out to be North Arlington.
Um they didn't really have a good answer
[1:36:06]
for that. And and I asked about if if
there's going to be flyovers for the
[1:36:11]
July 4th and for the OP sale. They said
there are only going to be four
[1:36:16]
helicopters, so we shouldn't hear jets
zooming overhead. Uh, actually, there'll
[1:36:22]
be jets, but they're going to be coming
from a different airport. And that's it.
[1:36:26]
» Thank you very much, Mr. Brown.
>> Hey, John. I know you have like a hard
[1:36:29]
time dealing with those people over
there. And and you know, I know you did
[1:36:32]
your best on this, but I'm giving that
report a C minus, buddy. [laughter]
[1:36:39]
» Oh, ouch.
[laughter]
[1:36:46]
So next we have the introduction of
ordinances with ordinance 826.
[1:36:52]

[1:38:19]
open the meeting to the public. Uh, does
any do you have anything else to say,
[1:38:23]
Mr. Brown? Does anyone else have
anything to say?
[1:38:27]
» I just wanted um I had meant to say this
during my quick report.
[1:38:30]
» Oh, now you want to have a real report.
>> Um, I just wanted to welcome Barbara
[1:38:34]
back. We
>> Oh, that's a good point. Yes. [applause]
[1:38:38]
» Thank you.
[1:38:42]
» Was awesome. But we did miss you a lot,
Barbara.
[1:38:46]
» And we are glad to have you back in the
saddle. Thank you for uh thinking of
[1:38:51]
that very very important thing, Miss
Padavana. Um so with that, I ask if we
[1:38:57]
are anybody would like to make a motion
to adjurnn.
[1:39:00]
» I'll make the motion.
>> Would anyone like to second?
[1:39:03]
» I'll second.
>> Or we can stay here all night. All in
[1:39:05]
favor? Let's go.
>> I
[1:39:09]
[laughter]
