[0:36] Good afternoon. This is the real estate committee meeting. It is August 28th,
[0:42] 2026. The time right now is 3:39
[0:49] p.m. We are going to begin the meeting. Fortunately, our secretary is not here
[0:55] today, so we're just going to go ahead on and call this meeting to order and
[0:59] then do roll call. Um,
[1:02] Stephanie Van De Velde. >> Here.
[1:05] » Derek Thompson. >> Here.
[1:07] » And Darrel Morton, chair. I'm
[1:12] I'm here as I'm here as well. All right. Um, so the next item on the agenda is
[1:20] the approval of the June 25th meeting minutes. Is there a motion?
[1:28] » I move I move that make motion that we accept these minutes. So moved.
[1:33] » I second it. >> Okay. It's been properly moved and
[1:36] seconded that we accept the minutes from the June 25th, 2026 meeting.
[1:42] Ready for the question. Roll call. Stephanie Van De Velde.
[1:49] » I. >> Um, Derek Thompson.
[1:52] » I. >> Darrel Morton.
[1:54] » I. >> All right. Minutes approved.
[2:00] All right. Um, correspondence, we're going to um defer
[2:05] the written correspondence to our next meeting because our secretary,
[2:09] unfortunately, is not here today. But, um and then we will proceed to item
[2:16] number five, which is on the agenda, which is public comment period. Um,
[2:21] there is no one in the chamber um for comment. Is there anyone online who
[2:29] uh wishes to speak? If so, we'll make sure you're unmuted and you may proceed.
[2:39] Anyone online for a comment? Last and final time, anyone online for
[2:46] comment? If not, then we will declare the public
[2:52] comment period closed. Proceeding on to
[2:57] um now um finance department update. Um so, as you all know, um we did have a
[3:07] auction earlier this year. Um and so, um we have reported
[3:11] previously on those properties that actually have been sold. Um the
[3:15] remaining properties um were put back into the inventory. Um they also are
[3:22] eligible for folks that if they wish to do a private bid, but we are also now
[3:27] considering moving forward with another auction, this one being more of a online
[3:33] auction process. And so, at our next meeting, we'll come back with um some um
[3:39] particulars and recommendations around that. Um as it pertains to the
[3:44] properties that are now in the inventory of the city for non-municipal use.
[3:51] Well, that would be pretty much the update um from the
[3:54] finance department as it pertains to um city-owned properties that are for
[4:00] non-municipal use at this time. So, um we did have we will say we did have a
[4:05] very successful auction um in that we did have some properties that actually
[4:10] went off um all went back on to actual um tax rolls. Um and so that will help
[4:17] us um to continue to receive those taxes in the years to come.
[4:22] All right. All right. Lower Department update.
[4:27] » Okay. So, we have started
[4:31] um sending out contracts and getting closings together for the following
[4:35] properties, which are they phase two
[4:39] sold phase one properties already. So, the first one is 52 Nursery Avenue.
[4:45] Sale price is 410,000. We have a signed contract. We have the
[4:49] down payment. We're in the process of clearing the title, so I anticipate that
[4:53] closing in like the middle of September.
[4:57] Second one is 157 Elwood Avenue for $10,000.
[5:03] We have a signed contract. We have the down payment. Same. We're in the process
[5:08] of clearing the title, and that should close in the middle of September also.
[5:13] Next is 454 South First Avenue, $30,000. We have a signed contract, and the down
[5:21] payment was received, so we're clearing title, and that should close in the
[5:25] middle of September as well. >> And how much was that for?
[5:28] » 30,000. >> Okay, got it.
[5:31] » Um three Portland Avenue 450,000.
[5:38] We have received the down payment. We're also in the process of Okay,
[5:43] clearing [clears throat] title, and and to close that in the middle of September
[5:47] as well. Yep.
[5:50] This one last one, 50 North High Street. That's 275,000
[5:56] purchase price. I have to get the uh attorney's
[6:00] information so I can send them the contract out. So, I'll get
[6:02] » No, that one got returned back. >> It's
[6:05] » Yes, 50 cuz remember that was the one the last meeting that he
[6:11] » Vacant lot, 50 >> No, 50 is on the corner of um Oak and
[6:18] It's this street. >> 50 North High
[6:21] » 50 North High, that was the one he thought there was a house on it.
[6:24] » All right, then. >> Remember that was the one he thought
[6:26] there was a house on it. The vacant lot. We actually then voted to actually to
[6:31] hold that in escrow. Right, so yeah. >> All right, so that's it for the
[6:37] next month's properties. >> I wouldn't heard anything back on 20
[6:42] Beechwood.
[6:44] » No. >> Okay. I need to follow up with that.
[6:47] » Not since your last communication, right? To Yeah, okay.
[6:52] All right. Okay. Anything else?
[6:56] » Any updates on 52 Marcelus? >> Yeah, she said 52 is the first one.
[7:00] Okay. That was the 410. >> Good. Yeah.
[7:02] » All right, that's the 410 and we should be closing that in the middle of
[7:04] September. >> Right.
[7:06] » Okay. >> Okay.
[7:08] All right, any old or new business?
[7:16] » [laughter]
[7:18] » You got to mute them.
[7:23] No. All right, um All right, if there's no other business,
[7:28] no other new or old business, then at this point I'll uh take a motion
[7:33] for adjournment.
[7:36] » Move that we adjourn this meeting. So moved.
[7:39] » I second it. >> Rowland Jones second that we adjourn um
[7:42] the meeting. Um It is all done ready for the
[7:47] question. All in favor.
[7:50] Stephanie, okay. Garrett.
[7:53] Thompson. Garrett Morton, I. Motion so carries. Meeting is hereby
[7:59] adjourned at 3:47 p.m.
