[0:03]
Thanks, Ted. Good evening and welcome to
the board of selectmen meeting. Today is
[0:08]
Tuesday, September 1st, 2026,
and the time is 6:03. I'd ask that you
[0:14]
all join me in the pledge of allegiance.
[0:20]
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the
United States of America and to the
[0:25]
republic for which it stands. One nation
under God, indivisible, with liberty and
[0:32]
justice for all.
>> Thank you.
[0:39]
» Uh first up, citizens input. Do not
believe we have any citizens that want
[0:45]
their put their input. I am switching
all of this around. What agenda is this?
[0:51]
» Huh?
>> Go by this.
[0:54]
» Is this Is this 12:00's agenda? Not um
6:00's agenda.
[0:58]
» Right.
>> Anyways, [laughter]
[1:02]
» use this one.
>> Yeah.
[1:04]
» I still don't want that first. Okay,
that's all right.
[1:06]
» Use Use this.
>> I'm going to go with uh I'm going to ask
[1:09]
uh Greg to come up and do his uh thing
first.
[1:12]
» Please,
>> Dan, use this.
[1:15]
» All right.
Yeah, bucket.
[1:18]
» No, I don't have that, oddly enough.
Thank you. Okay, go ahead.
[1:23]
» Hi, my name is Greg Senko. I'm the vice
president of the Country Pond Lake
[1:27]
Association, and I thank you for seeing
me tonight. I know it was short notice,
[1:31]
and you're on a time schedule, so I'll
try and be quick, but I'm prepared to
[1:35]
answer any questions that you have. Um,
as you probably know, the Lake
[1:39]
Association worked together with New
Hampshire Dees and New Hampshire Lakes
[1:43]
to complete a project to restore the
boat ramp, not only for improving public
[1:49]
access, but to reduce storm water
running into Country Pond. That project
[1:52]
was completed at the end of April this
year. Now, we're looking at another
[1:57]
grant cycle. And in our watershed
management plan for company pond,
[2:02]
there's another high value project that
we could uh use for this grant
[2:08]
application. It is the Newton Town Beach
parking area and when Mark's Road, which
[2:15]
uh if you're familiar with the area, the
road slopes down towards the lake, takes
[2:19]
a 90° turn, and that area has um a lot
of storm water issues. Water flows
[2:26]
across the parking lot, starts running
down the street, adds to what comes down
[2:31]
the street and would reaches the corner
there. The catch basins are really not
[2:36]
highly functional. Uh they get filled up
very quickly in just a moderate amount
[2:42]
of range. Uh sorry, moderate amount of
rain. Uh and then the overflow just runs
[2:48]
right into the lake. Uh and even they
they fill up very quickly in the storm
[2:53]
water. the um outflow pipe is draining
into the lake very quickly. So there's
[3:00]
an estimate that uh 2.8 pounds of
phosphorus per year could be um reduced
[3:07]
by remediating this area. For example,
the the boat ramp was about 2 pounds. So
[3:13]
this is even a higher value project. It
would involve
[3:18]
a bio retention area in the corner of
the parking lot to capture uh the the
[3:23]
water that runs across the parking lot.
And then down at the corner under the
[3:29]
street, [clears throat] the catch basins
would be removed and an infiltration
[3:34]
system that um would be a lowprofile
system would be installed under the
[3:39]
street and then the um the outflow pipe
would carry towards the lake. But in
[3:44]
this case, the water would be uh
draining out of that pipe much less
[3:49]
frequently than it does now. So, um
that's the proposed project.
[3:55]
Uh I've had a discussion with the town
engineer, Mike Vnal. We reviewed the the
[4:01]
site, looked at what's going on, and he
just shook his head at the situation
[4:05]
with the catch basins. It's not great.
Um so what we're looking to do now is to
[4:11]
apply in this grant cycle for money
which would cover the the engineering
[4:15]
work surveying
designing
[4:19]
um permitting of the project and then uh
an accurate estimate of the costs and
[4:26]
then the next grant cycle would be uh
applied for for the remediation costs.
[4:32]
» Sure. uh this grant cycle uh because
it's a planning project, it's a
[4:37]
different type of grant and no match is
required if we get this project to pass.
[4:43]
Uh so that's great news. The next cycle,
it's not entirely sure what type of
[4:48]
grant we'll be able to apply for. Uh we
were very lucky with the boat ramp to
[4:52]
receive an ARPA grant that covered 90%
of the costs. That was fantastic.
[4:59]
Uh, but right now what I'm looking for
is a letter from the select board
[5:04]
supporting that we apply for the grant
and that this project could go forward
[5:08]
if we get the funding.
>> Sure.
[5:12]
» Okay. Uh, I thank you for recognizing
the issues and trying to keep the lake
[5:17]
clean [music] in your efforts. Uh, I'm
in favor of it for sure. You got
[5:24]
anything?
>> I think we need to do it.
[5:26]
» Yeah. Joe,
>> no, I'm good. You good with the Bob?
[5:30]
» Nope. Uh, the boat ramp came out. I was
actually there for the opening um of the
[5:34]
boat ramp. They they did a wonderful job
on that. Um I I was happy to see that.
[5:40]
And I can't wait hopefully that they'll
be able to correct this situation, too,
[5:46]
which would be nice.
>> I know it's way too early to ask, but I
[5:50]
are we going to lose any parking at the
town beach?
[5:54]
There may be a a loss of a couple spaces
I would guess. Um that corner where the
[6:00]
bio retention area would be it's under a
big pine tree. I wouldn't want to be
[6:04]
parking under the pine tree anyway. But
uh yeah, there'll be
[6:08]
some loss of space
>> come to us with a plan and everything
[6:11]
else but
>> yeah there'll be detailed drawings uh
[6:14]
developed.
>> Good. Okay.
[6:15]
» Okay. So with that said, I move to sign
a letter of support for Country Pawn
[6:18]
Lake for the Newton from from the town
of Newton Beach and Winmark Road
[6:23]
project.
>> I'll second that.
[6:26]
» Motion made by Joe, seconded by Bob. All
those in favor?
[6:29]
» I. That is unanimous. Thank you very
much.
[6:31]
» Well, that was quick. Thank you very
much.
[6:34]
» Thank you for all the work you do.
>> Thank you for your support.
[6:39]
» Election.
[6:44]
Yeah, there's no one here.
>> The town projector and uh
[6:50]
» Thank you very much.
>> Yeah, sure.
[6:55]
» Have a good night. Good.
>> Uh next up, we got a election worker
[7:01]
appointments. The election workers need
to be formally appointed by the select
[7:04]
board per procedure. So, I'll entertain
a motion for that. So with that said, I
[7:09]
move to I move that Robert Sinsky,
Patricia McCarthy, and Crystal Brown be
[7:14]
appointed inspectors of the election for
the town of Newton with term to expire
[7:18]
November 30th, 2028.
>> Second.
[7:22]
» Motion made by Joe, seconded by Bob. All
those in favor?
[7:25]
» I I That's unanimous. Next up, fire
chief
[7:39]
Good evening, board.
>> Evening.
[7:40]
» Good evening, chief.
>> Uh, might as well start with
[7:46]
the August
runs
[7:50]
since I did July
at our last meeting. We've been meeting
[7:55]
every week. Uh, just real quick, uh, for
August there was 53
[8:03]
calls.
Uh you have in front of you what the 53
[8:07]
were. Uh I'll just go quick. On August
1st, Newton A1 requested class ALS for a
[8:14]
medical. On August 6th, plast fire
assisted engine 2 with a commercial
[8:21]
sprinkler alarm out on Puzzle Lane. On
the sixth, car one and engine two was
[8:28]
requested by Southampton for a CO call
at the campground. On the 7th, A1 was A1
[8:37]
requested class star ALS for a medical
and crane crossing. On August 10th,
[8:44]
Newton car 1 and engine 2 and utility
one worked a residential structure fire
[8:48]
in Southampton for the town of
Southampton.
[8:52]
On the 13th, A1 requested plast for a
medical in South Maine. At the same time
[8:59]
that was going on, Newton A2 was
dispatched
[9:03]
to Jacob's Way for another medical. So,
we had two medicals right on top of each
[9:07]
other. It's nice having both ambulances.
On the 14th, A1 was requested by
[9:13]
Amesberry Fire for station coverage.
While A1 was sitting in Aimsberry
[9:19]
covering the city, we had a second call
where we uh A1
[9:26]
uh requested Plastile to cover the call
on Bay Hill Road while they were in
[9:32]
Amesberry.
On the 15th, Plasty EMS was requested
[9:38]
for a medical on Pakame.
On the 16th, Kingston EMS was requested
[9:44]
for a medical on Wildest Grove. On the
16th, Amesberry was requested to do a
[9:51]
medical on Durgen. On the 16th, again,
Plasty EMS was requested to do a medical
[9:59]
at Packa Meadows. On the 17th,
A1 was requested by Plasty Fire to do a
[10:07]
medical in their town on Newton Road.
On the 18th, plaster engine was
[10:13]
requested by engine 2 for assistance
with a CO call on Willy Drive. On the
[10:20]
19th, A1 requested plast
for a medical on Wilders Grove. On the
[10:27]
20th, A1 requested plast for medical on
Lilac.
[10:33]
Also on the 20th
again backto back A1 requested plasty
[10:39]
for a ALS for a medical and crane
crossing on the 25th. Plasty fire
[10:46]
assisted Newton engine 2 with a
residential fire alarm on the 26th
[10:53]
and 27th. We'll do both of them at the
same time. A1 requested plast
[10:59]
for medicals on both.
Also, I have a little note there that I
[11:04]
have completed. I have written and com
submitted the town's 2025
[11:10]
assistance. The firefighter grant the
AFG application was sent to the grant
[11:15]
reviewer and has been submitted to FEMA
for the amount of 135,500
[11:23]
and that is to re replace approximately
half of the department's 25year
[11:29]
portables. Uh fingers crossed
we get the money. [laughter]
[11:38]
» Didn't you already apply for that before
though?
[11:41]
» We've
>> in the past
[11:42]
» not for the portables. This is the first
time last year we won the AFG
[11:48]
for the EMS equipment.
>> That's what I meant is that you've
[11:52]
already applied to this AFG once and you
got it.
[11:56]
» It was for something different, but you
got We received uh three AFGs.
[12:02]
Oh man. One Dunlop grant. We re the town
received the I think it was a $50,000
[12:10]
grant for thermal imagery camera. We've
received for personal protective
[12:16]
equipment,
defiills.
[12:20]
Uh we've received a bunch. We just
received uh energy drinks, a whole case,
[12:27]
the supply.
>> Was that what was that? The one of the
[12:31]
grants that we got for the stretcher,
too.
[12:35]
» Came out the stretcher something
different.
[12:38]
» The stretcher came out of uh
>> Well, the first stretcher came through
[12:45]
» the state.
>> Yeah, the state grant. Okay. A different
[12:48]
grant though. Okay.
Well,
[12:52]
» I wish you luck, Chief.
>> Yeah, keep applying.
[12:56]
» Fingers crossed. We'll see what the
federal government does. [laughter]
[13:01]
» All right. Uh, next thing on the agenda
is respectfully
[13:06]
asking that the board I Austin Holly
who's a US Army core medic and
[13:17]
as a firefighter EMT advanced and
Vincent
[13:24]
Dah.
Uh Vincent actually
[13:28]
was forced to work at 24 today at his
other full-time job, so he couldn't make
[13:32]
it. Uh also firefighter EMT advanced,
both at the base rate at 26 an hour.
[13:42]
» So I move to hire Vincent Dar of the
firefighter advanced EMT at the hourly
[13:46]
rate of $26 pending. He meets the
requirements set forth by the chief.
[13:50]
» Second.
>> Motion made by Joe, seconded by Bob. All
[13:54]
those in favor? I
>> I that's unanimous.
[13:56]
» I move to hire Austin Holly as a
firefighter advanced EMT at the hourly
[14:00]
rate of $26 pending. He meets the
requirements set forth by the chief.
[14:05]
» Second.
>> Motion made by Joe, seconded by Bob. All
[14:07]
those in favor? I
>> I. That's unanimous.
[14:10]
» Austin, you want to come up to the
floor?
[14:16]
» Thank you for all your service. We
appreciate it. And welcome aboard.
[14:19]
» Welcome.
>> Thanks. Welcome aboard. Thanks.
[14:26]
Uh the other two quick things, we're
probably going to wait and not come back
[14:30]
at the next meeting for two more new
hires. We're going to try to give it a
[14:35]
little break, but probably either the
next meeting or the meeting after that,
[14:39]
we'll be back in front for possible two
more new hires. Also, I submitted in
[14:46]
that uh plast
is having a meeting next Thursday at the
[14:52]
school.
I think I sent that email in.
[14:55]
» Yep. The 10th.
>> Yeah. I I think that's senior the senior
[14:59]
cookout.
>> Yes.
[15:01]
» Okay. I don't know if anyone was
planning on attending. Things are
[15:05]
changing
with the fees for plastic.
[15:13]
» Do you know yet?
>> What I Yes or no? Okay. There's going to
[15:19]
be we're still
going there's still going to be a fee
[15:26]
for when they respond and transport. A
lot of those that we just mentioned
[15:31]
today that the ambulance called for the
paramedics if they do not transport
[15:38]
they do not charge us. So they have to
transport
[15:43]
the charge the town a new
>> but don't normally we do the transport.
[15:48]
» Correct.
>> Cuz their ALS is just the suburbans.
[15:51]
» Correct. The difference they are the
paramedics. That's why we're hiring
[15:55]
advances. Yep. Uh,
so we we don't they don't charge.
[16:03]
What the talk is
is warrant articles
[16:08]
for fees like $50,000 for year one.
>> Oh jeez.
[16:14]
» Add 10,000 to year two and so on and so
on. I do not know what the exact fees
[16:19]
are. I've heard numbers.
>> Is he not anticipating getting another
[16:23]
endowment?
He's pretty crafty that guy.
[16:26]
» He is
he is working feverishly
[16:31]
constantly.
This is just
[16:33]
» this an insurance policy for him
>> just in case.
[16:36]
» Yeah.
>> Just in case. And right now it's he has
[16:41]
different figures if all the communities
stay in.
[16:44]
» Sure.
>> Or if communities try to go out on their
[16:46]
own. I can tell you I think the highest
amount was, don't quote me please, I
[16:54]
think the highest amount might have been
90,000,
[16:57]
» but that was year three or four. That
wasn't year one,
[17:01]
» correct? I've stood in front of the
board just to have one firefighter
[17:04]
paramedic 24/7 is $2 I think 70
something,000.
[17:10]
And that's at a rate that we're paying
now,
[17:13]
» right?
>> Okay. When do you
[17:16]
» when do you think he'll have that uh any
indication if he gets the endowment or
[17:20]
not?
>> That's what that third state
[17:22]
stakeholders meeting is to bring out all
the information.
[17:26]
» Chief, I'll try. I'll I believe I can go
to that.
[17:29]
» Okay. Yeah, he is he is I mean the
amount of funding
[17:36]
to get this project up and running and
the amount of funding that he has been
[17:42]
able to acquire
uh is unbelievable.
[17:45]
» Oh yeah. Yeah.
>> It's totally unbelievable. The service
[17:50]
is unbelievable. And for a small town
>> with only one ambulance
[17:56]
» Whoa. [laughter]
for for a small town like Newton,
[18:02]
it's it's it's worth it than trying to
put a firefighter medic on shift for
[18:09]
24/7. And I believe it's 78 to 82% of
the calls
[18:17]
a basic and an advance can take care of,
>> right?
[18:20]
» But again, that's going to be a decision
at the end for the voters what they want
[18:25]
to do. will there will be a fee
if you choose. The chiefs haven't come
[18:32]
up with that because the chiefs are
>> the board I've heard crazy numbers up to
[18:40]
like $1,000
if you if you're not part of the
[18:43]
coalition per se.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
[18:45]
» And you call them.
>> So I'm sure that they'll have all the
[18:48]
signed out before budgeting process.
>> That that is the game plan
[18:51]
» right around the corner.
>> That is the game plan.
[18:54]
don't I don't think it's to put on the
warrant for this year. I'm not sure.
[18:59]
Depends on what's left for funding
>> through the ALS program, but
[19:06]
uh the chief is willing to come any
point in time.
[19:09]
» Oh, yeah. Yeah.
>> To speak to the board. He'll go to any
[19:11]
one of the communities and speak. When
this first came about a few years ago,
[19:18]
didn't didn't we know that there was
going to be charges eventually like into
[19:24]
the hundreds of thousands?
>> Well, no. Year three was going to be I
[19:28]
think it was 103,000 or something to
that effect. But then he
[19:32]
» I think it is year three
>> coming up, isn't it?
[19:35]
» But he got the the first time it
started, he got a grant, not a grant, he
[19:40]
got a donation. He was able to get it up
and running and then he got the second
[19:44]
one was somebody else's donation for
like 2.4 million. Wasn't it exit? Didn't
[19:49]
they donate something?
>> It it if I'm correct he had anonymous
[19:54]
donors
>> exit
[19:58]
» is it Beth Israel Ley?
>> Yeah. Israel Lehey donated
[20:02]
[clears throat]
uh
[20:06]
» Janet Stevens.
>> Yep. was able to acquire a state grant.
[20:12]
I think he's received federal grants.
>> Yeah.
[20:15]
» I mean, he he he's he's doing the
>> So far, it's been a zero cost to all the
[20:19]
towns.
>> Correct.
[20:20]
» Including plastic.
>> Correct. Other than the transport.
[20:23]
» Correct.
>> When they come out and
[20:26]
I think it was $80 and now it's $120.
One of the things
[20:32]
that everybody has to remember is when
they come into a community and they do a
[20:38]
transport, that community is able to ask
for reimbursement
[20:42]
from the health insurance for a
paramedic level transport. He doesn't
[20:48]
ask for that.
>> Yeah.
[20:49]
» He asks for $100 and whatever the
insurance provides the community.
[20:56]
» Sure.
>> It goes to the community.
[20:58]
» Yep. Uh, and like I said, I stand by it.
Uh, dollar for dollar. I mean, one way
[21:06]
or another, the voters are going to have
to make a decision.
[21:10]
» Yep.
[21:13]
» That's So, that's where I'll be
Thursday, I will not make the senior
[21:18]
» barbecue.
>> Senior barbecue. Okay.
[21:20]
» Well, it's at night,
>> isn't it? At 7 at night.
[21:23]
» Yeah, I think it is. It's either 7 6 or
7
[21:26]
» barbecue. 5:00.
>> Oh, it is?
[21:29]
» Yeah. Chill. Usually level by six.
>> And where's the meeting at the P house?
[21:32]
» No, it's at the the school.
>> Timberlane.
[21:36]
» It's at the school.
>> Yeah.
[21:39]
» How many communities are involved in
this coalition?
[21:41]
» It changes. Last I I think there's
15 18.
[21:47]
» Really?
>> I think there's around 15 18, but it
[21:49]
changes. There are some communities that
are looking to hire straight paramedics,
[21:56]
the staff paramedics.
I am not too well welcomed with my
[22:02]
opinion. So,
[22:07]
» you want me to send Bob?
>> I'm sure we'll run the same opinion.
[22:11]
[laughter]
[22:16]
» Thank you.
>> All right.
[22:17]
» Thank you, Chief. Been there, done that.
All right. Uh, next up, Todd.
[22:29]
So, this is just going to be a quick
one. I'm just trying to tick off another
[22:34]
thing off my list. Um, trying to get the
exit repaved for all the potholes. I've
[22:41]
got three different quotes from three
different people, including someone that
[22:45]
is from town. Um,
one of the prices is very low, two are a
[22:51]
little bit higher. I recommend that we
go with the higher ones cuz they're
[22:55]
using better quality materials and stuff
like that. They're going to regrade it.
[22:59]
They're going to make sure that the
drainage is proper and stuff like that
[23:03]
compared to the guy that's got the low
bid. Um, either one of those two guys
[23:08]
would be great. And then it's up to you
guys to
[23:12]
» Oh, yeah.
>> make the decision whether you want it
[23:14]
done or not.
I have I have a question on one of the
[23:17]
uh one of the things. It's like two of
them have square footage, one doesn't
[23:22]
have anything.
>> Uh which one is that?
[23:24]
» The one from Pucket Paving has no
mention of square footage.
[23:28]
» Uh let me see.
[23:40]
No, I will contact him and get him to
send me that.
[23:45]
» Yeah, I think we need to know that
information because the the other ones,
[23:48]
even though the the lower bid is lower,
that's 1694 square ft. Yeah.
[23:52]
» And then Walkers was 2926 ft. So,
>> right,
[23:56]
» we need to compare apples to apples and
oranges to oranges.
[24:00]
» So, we need to have that information
before we can make a
[24:03]
» Yep. All right. I'll get that decision.
And do you know what line item
[24:08]
the money's coming from?
>> Uh, I'd have to look into that. I don't
[24:12]
have the number off the top of my head.
>> We'll need that information.
[24:14]
» We need you to make sure that you have
the money somewhere cuz
[24:17]
» right
>> as Michael will tell you that it's
[24:20]
definitely going to come out of what was
the um
[24:23]
» repairs.
>> Repairs. Even though it's going to go in
[24:27]
the red, but you need to make sure that
you have money somewhere else in the
[24:30]
budget that
>> we can kind of move it around.
[24:33]
» Yep.
>> Right. Yeah, we're not going to move it
[24:35]
around. You're going to go red because
it's bottom line. Yeah.
[24:38]
» Stay within your overall budget so that
you can see the red for next year's
[24:41]
budgeting, you'll know,
>> right,
[24:43]
» where the money's from and be able to
explain [clears throat] things.
[24:45]
» Okay.
>> Okay.
[24:46]
» Yep.
>> So, yeah, I guess um if you get Robin
[24:51]
the square footage on that one quote
and you probably don't have to come to
[24:57]
the next meeting and we'll decide then
and we'll just let you know.
[25:00]
» All right. I'll get all that information
for you.
[25:02]
» That'll work. there's a discrepancy in
the square footage. We just want to
[25:06]
understand why like give us where the
>> So the J& guy doesn't want to do as much
[25:10]
as like I basically want him to do. The
problem with the whole thing is is that
[25:16]
the water isn't draining off so it's
going underneath the pavement.
[25:20]
» So you're trying to cut it further down,
>> right? So I'm kind of trying to pitch it
[25:23]
a different way. Kind of go from where
the coingles are right to where the
[25:28]
entryway or exit is
>> and stuff like that. and he just wants
[25:32]
to do right where the potholes are. So
that's why it's a smaller area.
[25:38]
» Fix it for long.
>> That's J&
[25:40]
» Okay,
>> that wants to do the smaller section.
[25:43]
» Get it done for the long haul so we
don't have to go back in,
[25:45]
» right? And that's the thing. I think
that either Pentek or Walker would be
[25:48]
the better choice because they're going
to use better materials. They're going
[25:51]
to grade it. They're going to go, you
know, to those extremes to make sure
[25:55]
that everything's going the right way.
So,
[25:58]
» and according to Joe, um the Walker guy
does a lot of driveways and stuff in
[26:04]
town and does top quality work.
>> He's pretty reputable with the with a
[26:08]
lot of people in town.
>> And I wanted to include him anyways cuz
[26:10]
he is a you know, someone from town. So,
that's
[26:13]
» which is a which is a bonus,
>> right?
[26:17]
» All right.
>> All right. So, I'll take care of that.
[26:19]
I'll get it to you.
>> Get that information to us, please.
[26:21]
» All right.
>> CC me on the email that you send Robin,
[26:24]
please.
>> Okay.
[26:26]
» Thank you. Good night.
>> Thank you.
[26:28]
» Um, all right. Next up, resignations
or approvals.
[26:37]
» I move to accept the resignation of
Alexandria Guide with thanks and
[26:41]
gratitude for her service.
>> Second.
[26:43]
» Motion made by Joe, seconded by Bob. All
those in [clears throat] favor?
[26:48]
» I.
>> That's unanimous.
[26:52]
Uh, intent to cut 16-4-14.
>> I move to acknowledge the receipt of a
[26:58]
notice of intent to cut for tax map ID
16-4-14
[27:03]
pursuant to New Hampshire RSA 70 col 10
and signed a certificate of yield tax.
[27:09]
» Second.
>> Motion made by Joe, seconded by Bob. All
[27:12]
those in favor? I
>> I.
[27:14]
» So, just so everybody knows, this is the
[clears throat] most ridiculous motions
[27:17]
that we've ever made is that motion
because there's nothing we can do about
[27:21]
it. It's we have to accept it. It's
ridiculous that it has to come before
[27:25]
us. [laughter]
Stupid outdated laws.
[27:29]
» Um,
next up, agreement of abatement for 125
[27:33]
development.
>> I move to authorize a credit of $10,000
[27:37]
for taxes due on the following
properties.
[27:40]
14-1-27-1
[27:43]
14-1-27-2
[27:46]
14-1-27-6
[27:50]
14-1-27-4-2
[27:54]
14-1-27-4-3
[27:58]
14-1-27-4-5
[28:03]
14-1-27-4-6
[28:07]
for the tax for tax year
26 authorizing tax collector to credit
[28:12]
each parcel as evenly as possible.
>> Second.
[28:17]
» Motion made by Joe, seconded by Bob.
Joe, good job. You made it through all
[28:21]
of them.
>> A lot of dashes. Thank you. A lot of
[28:24]
dashes.
[clears throat]
[28:26]
» Um
>> and just so that people know, the reason
[28:30]
why this is taking place is because um
one of the properties was overt taxed.
[28:36]
So rather than having to pay out a lot
of money upfront, we opted to with him
[28:43]
with the agreement, we were able to pay
just so much and then give him these
[28:48]
abatements for two years so that the
town didn't have to pay all that money
[28:52]
out front.
Okay.
[28:55]
» Motion to approve.
>> I
[28:58]
» I
>> I
[28:59]
» That's unanimous.
Okay.
[29:03]
can uh go ahead and do that cuz
>> I move to acent I move to approve the
[29:08]
consent agenda as written.
>> Second
[29:10]
» motion made by Joe, second by Bob. All
those in favor? That's unanimous.
[29:14]
Trisha.
[29:18]
» Real quick.
>> I doubt it.
[29:19]
» How quick?
>> Quick.
[29:23]
» Real quick. This is Trisha from the
emergency management. I just want to
[29:26]
remind everyone elections are coming up.
The selectman will tell you when. I need
[29:30]
to say COVID 19 is not gone. Um,
obviously I don't want to say stay home
[29:37]
if you're sick, but you have to wear a
mask. I'll provide masks. We'll provide
[29:42]
gloves. No sanitizing will be available.
It affects our ballots in our new ballot
[29:46]
boxes. So, please be prepared to grab a
mask if you feel concerned and also
[29:53]
gloves if you feel you need them. Please
come and vote. It's a rough day right
[29:59]
after Labor Day, but we hope to see
everybody. Thank you.
[30:02]
» Thanks, Trish.
>> Um, with that being said, the town hall
[30:06]
and library will be closed for Labor
Day, Monday, September 7th. Uh, the town
[30:11]
election is Tuesday, September 8th, from
8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. [laughter] at the
[30:17]
safety complex. And apparently, I'm not
done, and I'm going to let Trish go
[30:21]
[laughter] ahead.
>> One more thing. on election day. Um the
[30:24]
statute in New Hampshire requires our
town clerk to be at town hall from 3:00
[30:30]
to 5:00 the day before elections. So
even though it's Labor Day, she will be
[30:34]
there only for election, not to register
vehicles, nothing else. 3:00 to 5:00 on
[30:39]
Labor Day, our town clerk will be here
at town hall.
[30:45]
» Thank you.
>> Uh the senior barbecue is on September
[30:49]
10th. Uh, email recreation to sign up at
recreation@newton
[30:54]
neww hampshire.net.
Old home day is coming up on September
[30:58]
12th, 2026 at the memorial um I don't
know what do you call it?
[31:02]
» School school
>> backyard playground,
[31:05]
» you know. Uh the ratification hearing is
on September 15th at 5:00 p.m. to
[31:11]
correct a procedural defect.
Uh C Coast Veterans Conference is
[31:17]
Saturday 91926.
Sign up. That's what it says to sign up.
[31:21]
This is super helpful. Sign up where?
>> On our website.
[31:25]
» On Newton's website.
>> Yes.
[31:27]
» Okay, perfect.
>> Or you can email them to sign up.
[31:30]
» Say the word sign up and you're
magically signed up.
[31:32]
» Get signed up.
>> All right. Uh Bob, how are we doing on
[31:36]
our planning board?
>> Uh we're doing very well. We've had a
[31:40]
few things come before us um that have
taken place. Um, nothing outstanding or
[31:49]
nothing major at this point.
>> All right, good. Joe,
[31:53]
» uh, couple things. We've had a
successful season at the beach this
[31:56]
year. Uh, lifeguards are off duty now
with Labor Day coming up and all. So, if
[32:01]
anyone goes there, just be just be
careful. And, uh, we have our, uh, old
[32:07]
home days coming up on the 12th and
looking we're still looking for any
[32:11]
raffle items. and anyone who wants to
volunteer the time, we're welcome that.
[32:15]
And also just to remind the seniors that
there will be a barbecue for them on the
[32:20]
on the 10th at the'll be held at the uh
Newton Police Station. And if you can
[32:24]
just sign up uh in advance, that'd be
great. So that gives us an idea as to
[32:28]
what we need to purchase.
>> Okay. Thanks.
[32:32]
» Oh, one other thing, uh if anyone is
interested in joining recreation, we can
[32:36]
definitely use a uh a few alternates and
a new member as well. So, okay,
[32:43]
Mike, I'm going to guess you're good.
>> Yes, I am good.
[32:47]
» All right. And I'm good. So, with that,
I'll entertain a motion to adjurnn.
[32:52]
» I make a motion to adjurnn.
[32:56]
» What?
>> Public.
[32:57]
» Did you want to go into non-public? Hold
on a second.
[33:02]
» Which one?
[33:08]
» E.
[33:11]
I thought we were having that
conversation.
[33:14]
I hope we're ready for it.
>> Um I I know what you're talking about,
[33:20]
but without Ashley here.
>> Yeah,
[33:22]
» I did want to do a full
>> Okay.
[33:24]
» You know what I mean? That's why I
wasn't
[33:26]
» Yep.
>> Okay.
[33:28]
» No, don't let me get out of here.
[laughter]
[33:31]
» All right. We're ajourned.
>> We're awesome. Thank you.
[33:35]
» Thank you.
>> That having still there is
[33:38]
» Oh.
