[0:00] Good evening everyone and welcome to tonight's regular board meeting. Eric is not with us this evening and so we'll get me.
[0:09] First thing I need to do is tell you a few things that happened in closed session.
[0:20] We have a rather long list, so get comfortable. The first is we had a couple of resignations, Dolores.
[0:29] I'm sure about a lot of my apologies to her, and ELLA is resigning effective June 5th.
[0:35] And Jacqueline Warren's science teacher is resigning effective June 5th.
[0:40] In addition, we have a request for a student contract for next year and Matt Weber at 60 percent
[0:45] and Mary Erin 40 percent and we share in second grade eight at Argonaut Elementary.
[0:49] We have a number of new findings.
[0:51] Daniel Brenner is coming on board as a commentary teacher, affected August 10th, Megan Casey
[0:58] as a school psychologist, effective August 1st, Brianna Delgado, as a speech and language
[1:04] pharmacologist, effective August 10th, Catherine Prusneck, and a kind of apologies for mispronouncing
[1:10] the last name as a special education teacher, effective August 10th, Erica Montana's, as a science
[1:16] teacher, effective August 10th, Kayla Nez, as a kindergarten instruction aide, effective
[1:21] August 13th, and Peter Palomo, as a behavior tech effective August 12th. We are delighted
[1:26] that all of them are joining the district. All right. Moving on, we have a action consent.
[1:39] Sorry, that person, I'll leave a little for you, Jim.
[1:44] Sorry, action consent.
[1:49] I'm not
[1:50] consent. May I have a motion?
[1:57] Thank you all in favor. Thank you very much. Okay, moving on to
[2:05] communications. We will take comments from the community. First of all, though, I'd like to point
[2:10] you to the yellow cards that are over by the door. If you come here tonight to make a comment, I ask that
[2:15] you do a quick fill out one of those and pass it forward. Anybody here came to make a comment?
[2:20] Okay. I won't pause waiting for you to fill out the little cards. Moving on to comments
[2:27] from the Hawaii Groups. I think thank you. Comments from the Superintendent? Yes, and I'm
[2:31] in for my time to Moira, and she's going to give the statement about the investigation that
[2:36] was launched back in November, the website code. So the investigation that's covered about
[2:45] about six months, more than a time has been completed.
[2:49] The summary board reviewed the documents
[2:51] in the report in post-session.
[2:54] There will be a public notice announcement
[2:56] that will go out this week.
[2:59] We are planning for revised
[3:01] paragraph policies, protocols, hiring and clearance practices.
[3:07] We'll be working on that during the summer.
[3:10] Parents will be invited to review
[3:12] and give input in August
[3:14] before the finalized document is presented to the governing board for voting hopefully
[3:23] sometime in August.
[3:26] Personnel actions regarding this are always confidential and will be addressed in a closed
[3:32] session.
[3:35] Thank you.
[3:35] Anything else?
[3:36] Thank you.
[3:40] I just wanted to call out the end of school year.
[3:47] It's always a good time.
[3:50] As always, you know, she goes on board schools,
[3:55] which is always quite a scheduling fund.
[3:59] Scheduling, worrying.
[4:01] The business is very pleasure.
[4:03] So it should keep my soul.
[4:05] It gives me great pleasure.
[4:07] That's why I'm here.
[4:09] those students and programs and our schools that's by the year say there's going to be
[4:16] able to go and graduate from the students and the staff for the publishing.
[4:26] Thank you.
[4:26] No?
[4:30] Well, I do have some good share.
[4:33] First of all, I didn't mention end of the school year.
[4:37] I'm very grateful for the entire school year thanks to all the staff members and teachers
[4:42] and superintendent for a wonderful years this year.
[4:46] We've made a lot of progress and lots of things
[4:50] that we have piloted and looking forward
[4:53] for next year and I want to see what more on things
[4:57] we are going to bring into our school.
[5:00] And I just wanted to tell the community
[5:04] that I was unable to attend the elementary school,
[5:07] three elementary school graduations
[5:09] because I had a gas leak in my house and the owner has to be less than you call it PG&E.
[5:15] And so I had to let the executive secretary know last minute that I was
[5:19] I need to be there so apologies for that. I also wanted to add one more thing that I wanted
[5:26] I didn't know that I could have qualified at last for meaning. This is regarding the agenda item
[5:32] on the superintendents contract.
[5:36] There was an agenda item that went for approval,
[5:40] the seventh amendment to employee agreement
[5:42] for services as superintendents.
[5:44] I just wanted to clarify that I didn't know
[5:48] on the basis of the increase by 1.25% longevity.
[5:54] That was a convict part that I was unsure
[5:57] because I did not have enough data
[5:59] from the other school districts and neighborhood districts
[6:03] and more information on that.
[6:06] But I want to make it very clear to the community
[6:08] and the staff members that has nothing to do with this contract
[6:12] or his renewal or anything else on the agreement itself.
[6:17] It was just that 1.25% on giving.
[6:19] That's all I want to say.
[6:21] Thank you, thank you.
[6:22] Okay, moving on then, we move to a district operations update.
[6:27] Okay, lots of pictures for our end-of-the-year celebrations, thank
[6:45] you.
[6:48] So this is a picture of the rehearsal with students who are going into their promotion
[6:53] exercise at evening.
[6:55] Next time.
[6:58] We have a big class leading us to 232 eighth graders and I think next year is a little bit
[7:03] bigger class.
[7:04] I think it's 241 and that gets a little smaller after that.
[7:07] So that's the promotion from Friday night.
[7:11] And then of course, we always have our elementary promotion ceremonies and what I appreciate
[7:14] about our schools. We're trying to make our schools very similar and the academic expectations
[7:18] and the rigor and the expectations to behaviorally. But there's a lot of personality and uniqueness
[7:23] amongst our elementary schools, which is fun and it comes out, things like this. The promotions,
[7:27] the promotions are very distinctly different and have a different flavor and it makes it really fun,
[7:32] especially when you go to four of them. It's a nice variety.
[7:36] And our retirees who want to always
[7:38] congratulate and recognize the ad on handwork and a bourgeois camp retired after 30,
[7:43] 39 years? 39 years? 39 years?
[7:46] In structural labor, Tire, Sherry, Brian, our groundskeeper has been here for many years
[7:51] in Mount Ramona. He's retiring, and Nikki Jordan, she was a structure for many years at
[7:57] Hargo Elementary, so we've co-hosted with STA, a retirement celebration for all of the
[8:04] all units in our district.
[8:08] And a lot of traditions that we have, field days, there's a bike, quite a bike event,
[8:13] at the middle school. We have our new rhythm of moves, which are calling something else because
[8:19] there are teachers that they were hosting field days at all of the elementary sites, which
[8:23] are very popular in the food weather. And this is an annual event that PTA is sponsoring along
[8:31] with site principal to host new parents to the middle school. And they have a panel of students
[8:37] said, I think it's the third one that's been done. So, it's successful as a wildly- attended.
[8:43] Very well, isn't it? Good, great. So, that's a very positive thing people really want. I think it
[8:47] goes to show the effort we're putting behind the transitions, getting kids from 5th to 6th, being going
[8:52] comfortable, partially getting parents comfortable, right? So, this is a- we just keep layering on
[8:57] layering on efforts to make it like Swiss cheese, cover the holes against, just keep adding those
[9:02] until people are really comfortable with that transition.
[9:08] And in part of that, they had tried to mix up lunch and get
[9:12] people to get students to talk to another in a different way.
[9:14] So it was cool to care week.
[9:17] And for the LMGTK breakfast, which I think is an annual event.
[9:24] And volunteer appreciation, Saratoga at the end of the year.
[9:31] And it's just some facilities and maintenance.
[9:33] We do have quite a bit of activity happening.
[9:35] They're not as big as roof replacements.
[9:37] But we're getting some interior classroom paintings started
[9:39] organized.
[9:40] We don't think those are the things in sense we built.
[9:43] So that's great.
[9:44] A field trip replacement.
[9:45] It seems to field turf at Saratoga.
[9:48] Accessibility from pathways to the back top to the gardens.
[9:51] So students have with disabilities that have access.
[9:54] Redwood Middle School, the way the Keyless Access project.
[9:57] So treatment from fields.
[9:59] Trying to get the cafeteria server on and installed
[10:02] and renovation of music room flooring.
[10:05] And then foothill is where summer school is at. So it is not getting anything but lots of use this summer.
[10:11] I will clarify on the cafeteria. So we're going to need a fancy process. It's been so slow.
[10:16] And so we're just doing part of drumming today and I have to say get free. I don't know if it's in summer, but it's.
[10:23] It's in motion.
[10:25] And then lastly, just some school reminders. These are the dates for summer school. It's standard year tree house and jumpstart.
[10:33] and that's all occurring on foothill. Those are the hours. And then we do have a pretty robust
[10:37] treehouse extended care until 530 about each of students. And then school officers closed
[10:44] at the end of the month, except for foothill. Of course, we're open all summer at the district.
[10:49] We have Juneteenth off. And then for July 4th, we're kind of
[10:52] straddling the biggest July 4th visit Saturday. So it's a little strange this weekend. And then
[10:58] people are working all summer. So if two people do need appointments, two good business offices,
[11:02] This is what usually takes place for tax for a number of fees and things like that, but we're all here.
[11:09] Okay.
[11:12] Questions, comments?
[11:14] The public comment on this.
[11:17] Moving along, we have a contract to announce the architects for facility master plan preparation.
[11:26] call them key. And so I asked, I don't know how to say just a few things. It's a bit easier.
[11:33] It's like, okay. So, we work through a process of issuing an RFQ or a fee. It doesn't require
[11:41] a formal bid because it's a service contract. However, we should get stands and issue an RFP
[11:47] for that. We did get six responses as well as we had a quote from our current architect
[11:53] So we went through those reports, scored them, Joe and I individually scored them, I can review that or comment with that.
[12:02] We selected two of the vendors to come in for an interview, so we held online interviews with them.
[12:08] And they kind of got our field rules, and we felt it was a better fit for our district.
[12:12] and the team selected BKA for the facility master plan.
[12:19] So the goal is that they would start with this in July,
[12:22] but they should be hopefully by February 27th.
[12:26] So they really had a big focus on community involvement in the use.
[12:33] So they needed a lot of that and the proposal,
[12:36] and there's you can see that they have tried to keep the session still involved
[12:39] and all of the same positions to the A,
[12:43] wonderful mastermind.
[12:46] I'll answer questions from the board.
[12:51] I know this is something we've been talking about,
[12:53] just comment it.
[12:55] It is a bit on the expensive side,
[12:57] but they're all on the expensive side.
[13:01] Okay, comments from the community.
[13:05] Okay, then we will move.
[13:07] May I have a motion regarding this?
[13:10] I make a motion to give your work contract to QKA4, that's a please not.
[13:16] Thank you, Rami.
[13:17] May I have a second?
[13:21] Thank you all in favor?
[13:23] unanimous.
[13:24] Thank you very much.
[13:25] All right.
[13:26] Go to a gene.
[13:28] A.
[13:29] A.
[13:29] A.
[13:29] A.
[13:29] A.
[13:29] A.
[13:34] That's coming up next, so that was the facility.
[13:39] Okay, next I need to close the public here.
[13:42] Actually, first let me ask.
[13:44] Did we receive any comments at the district office regarding the LCAP?
[13:48] I did not.
[13:50] It's an exciting thing.
[13:52] It is an important thing.
[13:54] So at this point, I'm going to close the public hearing for the LCAP plan.
[14:00] and we need to say action on that motion.
[14:06] I'm
[14:08] going to hear a full of great comments each one.
[14:12] I'll cap.
[14:14] Thank you.
[14:14] You may have a second.
[14:17] Thank you.
[14:18] Thank you.
[14:19] All in favor.
[14:20] Thank you.
[14:20] Right.
[14:22] Moving on.
[14:23] We need.
[14:24] With regard to the adopted budget.
[14:27] And statement of excess reserves.
[14:28] If we have any comments to the district, I don't know who they will come to the floor.
[14:33] So there are any comments of the district office.
[14:35] No.
[14:35] We have any comments now on that.
[14:38] Okay.
[14:39] Then may I have a motion to close the public hearing on the adopted budget and statement of
[14:44] access reserves?
[14:46] I can move to close the public hearing and I'm going to move on to the 26th and 7th on
[14:51] the subject and state of access reserves.
[14:53] Thank you.
[14:54] May I have a second?
[14:55] Thank you very much.
[14:56] Paul in favor.
[14:57] Thank you, that's unanimous.
[15:00] Okay, we're just over. Yeah.
[15:06] Did I miss anything about this? Great. Okay. With regards to future agenda items. Well, based on more statement, we'll definitely August have a agenda item or a special meeting around the reforms and findings based on the interpretation.
[15:25] investigation and taking a dimple. Same to that one. Okay. Anything else that we want to go in there?
[15:35] On the matrix and the bottom, we have the stars. I don't know what we discussed exactly about the
[15:44] color in this hand. Oh, yes. And Grace had emailed Eric and I with a little dispute that was this,
[15:52] the current old one, or is this the current old one?
[15:55] So we don't need to have it.
[15:56] Okay.
[15:57] Right back.
[15:57] So I over and answer back.
[15:59] Oh, sure.
[15:59] This is the one that you.
[16:01] Yes.
[16:01] So we will we will do that first meeting in August.
[16:05] Okay.
[16:06] Anything else?
[16:07] And will this star.
[16:08] Can I go with grace for next year?
[16:11] Let's start on this side.
[16:12] Yes.
[16:13] Thank you.
[16:14] Okay.
[16:15] More activities.
[16:20] Summer.
[16:21] Summer.
[16:22] There's two summer schools.
[16:23] or a one for two member, and have a chat to see if that's there, okay?
[16:31] Okay.
[16:31] The two are excellent.
[16:33] I see.
[16:38] Okay.
[16:41] Okay.
[16:43] In that case, unless there's anything else, we are adjourned.
[16:47] Bye.
