Rise for pledge of allegiance, please.
Flag is by the police officers. I pledge
[0:06]
allegiance to the flag of the United
States of America and to the republic
[0:11]
which stands one nation under God,
indivisible, liberty and justice for
[0:17]
all.
[0:22]
» First item on agend roll call. Five
members of the president. Second item
[0:26]
approving a minute from August 12th. I'd
make a motion we approve.
[0:30]
» Motion made, second by Sue. All in
favor.
[0:34]
» Next item up is um we're gonna skip a
couple. Go right down aiming
[0:40]
new road at Nate.
>> Thank you, Nate.
[0:46]
» How are you, buddy?
>> Good. How are you, Mike?
[0:48]
» Good.
So, what was yours, sir?
[0:51]
» Yeah. So, as you can see, there's two
new roads. Uh one of them is Timberview
[0:55]
uh Drive. Uh that's over off Alagash.
You could have something on your desk
[1:00]
there that says
where that is. And the other one is uh
[1:05]
Banette Way, Banette Lane, I think is
what it is. Uh over from the Belgra
[1:11]
across from the Bandic Road.
Uh but that is because you've got a two
[1:16]
unit on that piece of property and you
also got the storage facility there as
[1:20]
well. So where there's a couple
structures for E911, we needed to put an
[1:23]
address on that. So, uh, it's not
necessarily Belgrade Road, but we're
[1:27]
changing this shot from 53 Belgrade
roads to a number ban lane, I think,
[1:33]
where it is.
>> Yeah.
[1:35]
» And then the other one is right off
Alag. It's an established lot already.
[1:40]
It's being developed. So, we need a
wrote that I named that road. So,
[1:44]
» we picked those two names uh chief sub
and chief with those two names.
[1:50]
» So, there they are. I've made a motion
we accept those two recommendations for
[1:55]
road names.
>> Motion is made, seconded by Sue. All in
[1:58]
favor?
>> Thank you, sir.
[2:01]
» Next item up is going to the chief of
police, Chief St. is going to
[2:07]
» Oh, you want to do the poll next?
>> Yeah.
[2:09]
» All right. Disregarding last
they've been in here all day. So,
[2:14]
» Oh, kids at home.
>> Thank you.
[2:17]
» Get them out of here.
>> That's me. Uh tax commitment update. We
[2:20]
did do our tax commitment on Friday the
4th. Um,
[2:25]
the mill rate uh we ended up with was
$10.92 per thousand and our overlay um
[2:32]
is just at $150,000
change. Um that overlay again just so we
[2:38]
can talk about what it is. We're going
to it's it's used for any abatements
[2:42]
that we have happening which I expect
more abatements this year than than most
[2:45]
years. Um, and then also, um, for those
people that don't pay, uh, timely, it
[2:50]
allows the town to function and to do
all the things they need to do because
[2:55]
they need the money that was set in the
budget. So, that's what the overlay is
[2:58]
there for. Uh, the maximum overlay that
we could have done was $700,000. So, we,
[3:03]
you know, we stayed at $150,000
to stay conservative, but still have
[3:08]
some
money there for us. Any questions about
[3:12]
the tax commitment from you guys?
We are at 100% of market value. So, we
[3:17]
are giving those full homestead and full
veterans exemptions as well. So,
[3:23]
» thank you. No question.
>> Question. I know there's $25,000 for the
[3:28]
homestead exemption. What is full?
>> The full vet right now is $6,000.
[3:32]
» Thank you so much.
[3:42]
» Any no questions? have a question in the
back. Go ahead, sir.
[3:46]
» How much is in the pound reserve account
today?
[3:49]
» Um 1.4 million
in our insured cash sweep. So that is
[3:56]
our kind of our operating. It sweeps
back and forth. Um we have one account
[4:01]
that we operate daily out of. It goes
it's always set at 300,000. So checks
[4:07]
clear, expenses come in, you know,
that's what we operate on. But at the
[4:12]
end of the day, it's either swept out to
make it $300,000 or or money swept in to
[4:18]
make it $300,000. So we we start every
day with 300,000. Then we have um some
[4:25]
trust funds that are invested, the
cemetery trust, distressed person trust,
[4:32]
um BB something trust.
>> Yeah. And then there's another trust. We
[4:39]
can't really touch those. those kind of
operate on their owns. And then we have
[4:43]
special revenues along with a little bit
of general fund money. And that's about
[4:48]
1.6 million that's invested in bonds.
[4:59]
» No further questions. Thank you ma'am
for coming in.
[5:02]
» Thank you.
>> Next item up is Kelly introducing
[5:08]
» Yes. So, we have a new police officer,
very actful staff. Um, officer Derek
[5:14]
Brill comes to us from Cumberland County
Sheriff's Office where he spent the last
[5:19]
20 years as a deputy. While at
Cumberland County, he was a field
[5:24]
training officer and patrolled the town
of Standish. Derek also held several
[5:29]
other certifications.
Dererick is from originally from
[5:32]
Winslow, Maine. He attended Winsel High
School and then went on to the
[5:37]
University of Southern Maine where he
received a bachelor's degree in sports
[5:40]
medicine.
In a time where there's a big shortage
[5:44]
of police officers, we're very fortunate
to have such qualified professional join
[5:49]
our staff. So, welcome Derek.
[5:59]
You want to say anything?
[6:09]
Thank you.
>> Next one up is Chief Cochell with EMS
[6:13]
resolution.
>> Yep. See, you should have all received a
[6:17]
draft of the EMS resolution in your
packets. Um, we're now required by state
[6:22]
law to have that. I have had legal
review it and they said it meets all the
[6:28]
state requirements and I think I'll have
Dave speak a little bit more about where
[6:34]
this came from and why.
So it's um it's actually main state
[6:41]
statute that each town
adopts this resol a resolution which
[6:48]
will tell the residents
who the transporting agency would be to
[6:53]
take them to the hospital.
[6:59]
So once once we accept the resolution we
have to report it to a bunch of state
[7:03]
agencies
then that would become part of the
[7:08]
town's book of ordinances if you will
has to be posted in the same manner as
[7:12]
any other county or some of the website
easily easily found
[7:18]
so this is a step in that process so
required by the state the resolution
[7:23]
that that we put together was was a
plate from mains also reviewed by the
[7:28]
town's council South to be.
>> Yeah, they said it was it was fine.
[7:35]
Pretty boilerplate.
>> I assume you recommend that we sign this
[7:37]
thing, right? I make that motion. Motion
made by Bob. All in favor?
[7:49]
» I'll pass this down. You can sign it.
>> Thank you.
[7:54]
Um,
>> next thing up is Kelly with the talking
[8:00]
about TRIO training.
>> Yes. So, as you know, our TRIO software
[8:05]
that we currently use to assess and
budget and cash receing and motor
[8:11]
vehicle. It does everything that makes
us function as a town. Um, that our
[8:16]
version is going to be end of life in
December at the end of December. and you
[8:21]
had approved us and the budget, we put
the money in the budget to go to SQL Web
[8:27]
or no, Trio Web um their newest version.
And on April 8th, you approved us to
[8:35]
close the office at 2:00 on October 8th.
There's been a scheduling conflict and
[8:41]
we need to move that day to October 22nd
that we would close the office at 2:00
[8:49]
to attend uh online training. Uh
everyone in the office that uses TRIO
[8:55]
will be attending this training and that
way we don't have to pay overtime. If we
[8:59]
can shut down 3 hours early, it'll give
the girls, you know, 30 minutes to cash
[9:05]
up and then head to the training room.
day of the week.
[9:10]
» Thursday.
>> Thursday
[9:13]
time.
>> Yeah, I think October 8th was Thursday
[9:17]
as well. So, I think TRIO only does
trainings on Thursday.
[9:20]
» We don't close at what time?
>> 2:00.
[9:23]
» I make a motion we close at 2:00 on
October 27th, but training.
[9:28]
» She had a question. Motion
[9:34]
made. Do we have a second? Kelly may
make a second. Thank you. All in favor?
[9:39]
» Thank you.
>> We are going live on December 1st,
[9:44]
so bear with us.
>> Next one up there is another one for
[9:46]
Kell. It's Mission Square. Sure.
>> Um, so as you know, our retirement
[9:53]
company is Mission Square Retirement. um
part of our program and and contract
[10:00]
with them. You have to you become an
employee, you have to wait 6 months
[10:05]
before um you can contribute like a
six-month probationary period. Then you
[10:11]
can start contributing to your
retirement. Currently, the employees
[10:16]
required to do one and a half% the town
does 8%. But you have to be vested for 5
[10:23]
years.
So,
[10:27]
Cheryl, our finance director, was doing
some digging and speaking with um
[10:31]
Mission Square and realized that we had
a forfeite account for the unvested
[10:36]
employees that had left. I mean, you're
talking this goes back years. Um we did
[10:43]
receive the check today. I I said that's
our money. Get it back to us. uh $50,000
[10:52]
50,6302.
So
[10:56]
um
I would like to we still have four
[11:00]
employees that fall under the old policy
in that employee separation account that
[11:05]
when they retire they're paid out a
third of their sick time if they were
[11:08]
hired before 2003.
So, we have four people
[11:14]
and I would like to put the money in
that employee separation account to
[11:19]
cover that and we won't have to budget
for that for a very long time.
[11:34]
I'll make that motion that we put that
into that
[11:38]
for time or whatever.
>> Employee separation.
[11:41]
» Employee separation for all the old
people when they
[11:43]
» pay out sick time. Uh if somebody
leaves, we do have to pay out vacation
[11:48]
time for law.
>> Yeah.
[11:49]
» Um we do a retirement plaque or
something.
[11:52]
» Most years we've had that in the budget
to do that every year, right? Year after
[11:56]
year. Yeah, we've had some big
retirements. Jan
[11:59]
uh and Doug Jan.
>> Yeah.
[12:02]
» Eric.
>> Motion is made. Do you have a second?
[12:06]
Second by Sum. All in favor question.
>> Yeah.
[12:09]
» Question.
>> I understand the for this is a plan
[12:12]
question. The forfeite of the employer
contribution,
[12:18]
» but what about unvesting personal
contributions? Are they an individual?
[12:23]
Those they keep the portion that they
the 1.5% that they contributed
[12:30]
» outside.
>> No, they keep that. It's just the p the
[12:34]
town's portion.
>> Thank you.
[12:36]
» Yep.
>> Motion to second by. So, all in favor?
[12:41]
Thank you.
>> Thank you.
[12:43]
» Next one up is an MMA annual conference.
>> Uh, yep. They're having it in Augusta
[12:49]
this year. Um, last year was Portland, I
believe. We didn't go. TRIO is doing a
[12:56]
lot of sessions. Um, so Cheryl and I are
going to attend. It's a two-day
[13:02]
conference right in Augusta,
uh, 8 to 4 both days. So, letting you
[13:09]
know that
>> Constitution,
[13:11]
» uh, we do this every year. the Daughters
of the American Revolution out of Fort
[13:17]
Halifax chapter um like us to sign a
proclamation
[13:24]
um this week this year. It's uh
September 17th to the 23rd. Patricia
[13:31]
Gorman has asked us again this year that
the town of Oakland signed the
[13:35]
proclamation and asked our citizens to
affirm the ideals and framers of the
[13:39]
constitution had in 1787 by protecting
the freedoms guaranteed to us through
[13:45]
this guardian of out liberties
remembering that lost rights may never
[13:50]
be regained. So um they just need the
chair to sign it. So, I've kind of
[13:55]
filled it in. Want to sign and copy and
attest and seal that
[14:03]
and mail that back to her.
Next, I'm going into old business
[14:10]
couple weeks ago. We talked about our
SU8
[14:14]
uh school board starting the the term
and day decision that was done back in
[14:20]
2009.
I happen to be the chair that time. We
[14:24]
tabled that last week and you had some
information you want to put out.
[14:28]
» Uh yes. So since
uh when SAD became RSU8,
[14:34]
SAD 47 became RSU8, the school board
starting term date has been July 1 for
[14:41]
the town of Oakland for its existence.
Um I did speak to the superintendent.
[14:48]
They have nothing in their bylaws
regarding any towns when towns can
[14:54]
appoint their their board members. Each
town does it differently. China starts
[14:59]
at a certain time, Belgrade, Rome,
Sydney. Um
[15:04]
I checked with our lawyer just to make
sure and he agreed that it's a pretty
[15:09]
much a town's decision. Um, the town did
have a special had it on a warrant
[15:14]
article in the 2012
May town meeting that had it for July
[15:20]
1st start date. So,
um, so I I tabled that myself because I
[15:27]
want I remember that we had quite a
conversation on it at a time. So I would
[15:31]
and I called the superintendent, talked
to superintendent, talked to the
[15:34]
assistant superintendent, talked to the
chair of the board, the current chair,
[15:38]
and I talked to the old chair, the the
one that just got done. All of them
[15:42]
agreed and and they all gave some very
valid points saying that at the
[15:47]
beginning of July,
committees are assigned to all members
[15:52]
to all members. So I just give you a
hypothetical situation. Dana is all in
[15:56]
sports and I'm all into academics. Well,
Dana would be in a committee of sports
[16:01]
and I'd be in academics. Well, if I'm
termed out, not termed out, if I'm voted
[16:06]
out come January, my replacement would
naturally go into my seat and would take
[16:12]
over as the, you know, into academics
and might not even want to do anything
[16:16]
with academics. And so, it disrupts the
whole program in the in the school
[16:22]
committ. Um, so that would be one thing.
Another thing, they start their budget
[16:26]
is what they said. They start their
budget and I remember this very clearly.
[16:30]
They start their budget as of July 1
already thinking of numbers for the next
[16:35]
year already thinking of how many people
and if somebody comes in halfway through
[16:41]
then again they take in they're halfway
through the process and it's kind of
[16:45]
like you know they're playing catchup
for the rest of the year. So there's a
[16:48]
number of very valid points. Um each one
of not each one of them only a couple
[16:53]
said sounds like you're trying to fix a
problem that doesn't exist and and and
[16:58]
so for as far as I'm concerned we should
not change that
[17:02]
» comments.
I would agree with that um for for two
[17:08]
reasons. Because I think that the voters
that voted the the current school board
[17:12]
member in deserve to have that person
complete their term as did the person
[17:16]
that ran and was um and was elected. And
additionally, I know there was comments
[17:22]
that this town does, this town does it.
I don't really think that she was just a
[17:26]
precedent to change anything just based
on what another town does because people
[17:30]
want Oakland to be Oakland, not another
town. And each one of the chairs and and
[17:35]
and the superintendent, assistant
superintendent said, even though they
[17:39]
have been elected to the school board,
they can attend all those meetings and
[17:44]
try to be caught up to, you know, to
where they should be come the first part
[17:50]
of July. And the other and and I said
all of them agreed very much unlike the
[17:56]
town of Oakland, we start our budget
season in
[18:00]
January. So it it's not catchup. I
started last week.
[18:04]
» Yeah. Yeah, you do. But we we don't get
it until but you all your your
[18:09]
department heads get it and all that. So
I I my recommendation just leave it
[18:13]
alone and move on. Boom.
>> Ch a question. Um so the the the newly
[18:19]
um elected um school board member is
able to attend the meetings and observe
[18:24]
so that they can be up to speed January
July one if they like. I think that's
[18:29]
that's
>> that works. Ma'am, how are you?
[18:33]
» Yeah, I'm
a teacher district president. Um, so I
[18:39]
have a lot to do with the district and I
have no problem with them starting in
[18:44]
July. The problem that I and other
people in the district have is that
[18:48]
they're not they're voted in November
and they don't start till the following
[18:53]
July. So you have someone voted out last
November, served until just kept it
[19:00]
voting and doing everything until the
following July when the the new person
[19:05]
that was voted in in November start was
able to start. Um the consideration that
[19:11]
I would like you to make is that why
can't we have the voting in June when
[19:16]
you did the school board elections?
Vote them in in June then they start the
[19:21]
next month. every other district,
four of the three of them start the the
[19:28]
day like right away. Um, and one of
them, Belgrade's the only one that has
[19:34]
the election in March and they start in
June, so it's within a couple months.
[19:38]
Ours, so I don't mind I I mean, we're
fine with it starting July. Your logic
[19:44]
is great. It's spot on, but we would
like them to be elected closer to the
[19:51]
date they start. So that the people of
Oakland have vote that have voted people
[19:55]
in, you know, and voted somebody else
out don't have the person they voted out
[20:00]
in for months and months.
>> Exactly.
[20:03]
» I understand that and I I don't and I
and each one of them had said the same
[20:08]
thing. We could do a June vote, but I
think our June vote is we might get 500
[20:15]
people sometimes. You know, I know a
couple years ago we had 228 people
[20:19]
voted. uh like our town meeting held in
May uh last year I count them every time
[20:25]
when we're sitting there we had 98
people representing 6,432
[20:30]
people and and I just think me
personally and this is we can talk about
[20:35]
it more but me personally I think that's
a very poor representation when you get
[20:40]
100 or 228 people voting for school
board you know that
[20:46]
» you had the town was Say it again, sir.
>> I think we haven't listened to that at
[20:52]
our town meetings and we're spending a
lot more money.
[20:56]
» So,
they voted in their own.
[20:59]
» Yep. So, sir
>> agree with 110%. I just think it's the
[21:04]
right thing to do. Why keep someone
hanging on for till 6 months? You know,
[21:10]
seven months and you know they're
getting kicked out that just creates
[21:13]
poor vibes all the way through. You know
what I'm saying? At the same time, each
[21:18]
one of the people I talked to at the
school said they think that is the best
[21:21]
way we're doing it and they said that
they wish the other towns would do it
[21:25]
also.
[21:29]
» They said I asked them on purpose. So,
you know, that's what we
[21:32]
» I mean, we could move it to June, but
>> we get more voter participation in
[21:38]
November.
>> Vote participation is is big in
[21:41]
November.
Kelly,
[21:43]
» um I I would like to see us move to them
being elected closer to the time that
[21:47]
they serve.
>> Absolutely.
[21:48]
» Um I I think it makes perfect sense to
do it that way and relying on whether we
[21:55]
have a big vote in November or not. I
don't think that's a a valid thing
[21:59]
because we can do absentee ballot for
the school board. So people can still
[22:02]
vote and not come on that day. And maybe
we'll generate more people showing up
[22:07]
through our school board uh
voting. I I to me it makes more sense to
[22:14]
have them serve closer to when they are
elected.
[22:21]
I'm involved.
[22:25]
I I believe that
when it was set for beginning in July 1,
[22:32]
the people had a good reason. very good
reasons here on both sides.
[22:36]
» Okay.
>> Um but but the difference between a
[22:40]
couple hundred voters and couple
thousand voters is is important, I
[22:46]
think. So I don't see that we need to
change.
[22:50]
» I I agree. We've have been criticized
before for doing major things on
[22:56]
offtime elections or whatever you want
to call it that we should do major
[23:00]
things during our November elections
when we get a lot of people. We get a
[23:06]
pretty big turnout for November
elections normally for a smaller town.
[23:17]
Sir,
>> you change that. Instead of July, you
[23:19]
have a change to December.
Change the time that you
[23:23]
» start in November.
>> Yeah.
[23:25]
» Again, it goes back to what the school
board told me, right?
[23:27]
» You know, and they said you're halfway
through the year.
[23:30]
» Committee start, you know, so people
playing catchup halfway through and and
[23:36]
I understand, you know what is and I
understand both sides. I I I truly do.
[23:41]
And I do understand both sides of so
that's why I'm saying if you vote in
[23:45]
November December you get put in you
start fresh beginning of the year
[23:49]
» but it's the middle of the school middle
of the budget
[23:52]
» but it's the middle of the budget it's
middle committees it's the middle and
[23:55]
and they gave me a ton of good reasons.
So with that being said
[24:00]
» yeah no the Sydney and Ran elections and
take office in March China elections and
[24:07]
take office in November.
Belgrade election in March and take
[24:11]
place in June. Those are all in the
middle. Those are not anything to do
[24:16]
with budget season which does not start
July. Really we are negotiating right
[24:23]
now for the sports staff at RSU8
because they don't start their budgets
[24:28]
until November December.
>> So would be a great time.
[24:35]
» I'll make a motion we take a vote. We
can go for a vote. We'll go from there.
[24:39]
At this time, I'd like to make a motion
that we vote on uh leaving it the way it
[24:44]
is. Uh they they come to uh voting in
November and there's pros and cons on
[24:50]
it, but there's voting in November.
Schoolboard member starts on the July
[24:56]
one is that that's my motion. Second,
seconded by Dana. All in favor and
[25:02]
opposed.
There you go. Next thing up is the
[25:11]
I'm sorry. You guys stick together like
please do one vote something to pass.
[25:18]
That's it for one person.
>> I think it's time for you to move
[25:22]
forward.
>> You got that choice in November.
[25:25]
» Yeah.
>> At this time, we're going to move on. Uh
[25:29]
the next motion, the next item up is the
RV camper discussion. Kelly.
[25:34]
» Yep. So, I understand we had a citizen
complaint regarding someone living in a
[25:38]
camper right next door to their house.
Um, the complaint was brought to you and
[25:45]
me.
[clears throat]
[25:47]
I spoke to our code enforcement officer
about it and that's not the process to
[25:53]
take. Um, I'm going to call the citizen
tomorrow, have them come speak with
[25:58]
Nate,
do a formal complaint, and then Nate can
[26:03]
then go and start his process with the
property owners.
[26:08]
Um, since it's sitting on the property
owner's property. So,
[26:16]
and by doing that, it strikes up a
conversation with the owners of the
[26:21]
property and we can find out how long
it's going to be there because we do
[26:25]
have a they can be there for six months.
Um but I really don't want to talk about
[26:32]
it yet because I don't want the citizen
to
[26:36]
I want the citizen to have a
conversation with our code enforcement
[26:39]
officer first.
>> Okay.
[26:41]
» Next item up is the manager's update.
>> Excuse me. Uh we did the tax commitment
[26:49]
update on our open positions. Um,
we hired a wreck coordinator position.
[26:57]
Um, it's part-time. It's 25 hours a
week. We hired a Liberty Olivia Budro.
[27:03]
Um, she's been working with our summer
wreck program since 2022.
[27:08]
She lives in Oakland. She graduated from
Mealonsky. She's very familiar with our
[27:13]
Oakland WCK program, the kids. Um,
so she started a week or so ago.
[27:20]
» [cough]
>> um the transfer station attendant. Um as
[27:26]
a the full-time position, we hired
Dawson Puland. He started last week.
[27:31]
He's from Sydney, graduated from ESO in
2017
[27:36]
or 18. So young, strong kid, so he'll do
well up there. Um and we still have a
[27:45]
CDL
public works truck driver position
[27:49]
available. I have three applicants, one
has a CDL.
[27:54]
So, it's Jeff Jeff's been so busy with
the boat landing in the parking lot that
[28:00]
I haven't had a chance to connect with
him. So,
[28:04]
» question
>> public works CDL the class.
[28:09]
» I have CDL
>> want
[28:14]
call sand.
>> What's the pay? $25 an hour.
[28:20]
» Now we're talking.
[28:25]
» I can't bring you in above that.
[28:30]
» Um so yeah, that's that update. Um
hopefully we'll get that filled. We got
[28:35]
to start pulling sand here in a few
weeks. So
[28:39]
yeah,
[28:43]
[clears throat]
>> Waterfront Park,
[28:45]
you've been down. Beautiful. They did
such a good job.
[28:50]
Yeah. Um,
uh, Manter did all the inwater work and
[28:56]
then our guys, our crew did,
excuse me, everything outside of the
[29:02]
water. Um, boy did the design work. I
mean, they saved us thousands of dollars
[29:08]
by us doing it ourselves. Um, we did
were able to get a state of Maine grant.
[29:14]
Uh, the state's been over and looked at
it. They're they're like, "Wow." They're
[29:19]
very impressed. So, um, we are replacing
some signs.
[29:25]
Um, the friends of Masalotsky is having
Leon signs make a new sign down by the
[29:31]
water that talks about the lake and the
invasive plants and all that. It's
[29:35]
really nice. So, I think when those
get put up and the rest of it gets
[29:40]
paved, I want to talk with the chamber
and maybe do like a little ribbon
[29:45]
cutting just to thank everybody for
pitching in.
[29:50]
It was It's a good job. And the um
Midmain Marine and Hamlins
[29:58]
absolutely love it because they're
pulling boats in and out all day long.
[30:02]
» Sure. I think they do a fantastic job.
Thank you. And it's not going to be all
[30:06]
clogged up anymore as one way traffic.
It's going to be excellent.
[30:10]
» Yeah.
>> And there
[30:12]
where Heroes parked kind of toward at
the Music Series concerts. Um it's going
[30:18]
to be like angled parking. So that'll be
one way out as well.
[30:22]
» Yeah. Awesome.
>> Yeah.
[30:26]
» Excuse
[30:31]
I'm good.
[30:34]
» It's called Golden Rod.
>> Oh, I hear you there.
[30:43]
» Um,
I know we had talked a couple meetings
[30:48]
ago about having two meetings in
November,
[30:54]
doing the first and the third week. And
then after looking at the schedule,
[30:59]
Kathy and I were like,
that's the day after elections. I mean,
[31:03]
Kathy works like what, a 17-hour day, 18
hour day. And I don't not sure how
[31:10]
productive we we're shutting the office
down. Everybody's working elections. Um,
[31:15]
it's going to be a big one, I think. So,
so could we maybe not do the meeting the
[31:22]
council meeting on the 4th and if we
need to meet do a special meeting the
[31:28]
following week.
I'm just not sure how coherent we'll be
[31:33]
at 6:00 that night. I know I won't be.
>> Good idea.
[31:40]
» Yeah. Can we vote on that?
>> Yeah.
[31:44]
I'll make a motion that on November 4th
meeting is now
[31:49]
cancelled unless we have a special
problem that comes up
[31:56]
second the following week.
>> Yeah, we can call me
[32:00]
» and then the third week we're going to
have the auditor will do his
[32:07]
presentation too. So
>> um
[32:12]
that's all I had.
>> Kelly, do you have any Sue? Did you have
[32:17]
any problem?
>> I do not.
[32:21]
» One minor thing. Um every year at budget
time, we talk about our recreation areas
[32:26]
and whether what kind of troubles we've
had during the summer. We need gates and
[32:30]
people attending the gates and stuff
like that. So, I would like to have
[32:34]
Aaron and our police department get
together before one of our next come
[32:38]
upcoming meetings. And
>> usually we discuss this during budget
[32:42]
season when we're busy and don't have
much time to really
[32:45]
» work on it. So, if they could get to us
one of our next schedule meetings and
[32:50]
give us um their opinion of how things
went.
[32:57]
I know the cameras at Pleasant Point
Park have helped,
[33:01]
but they're still leaving a lot of trash
down in the trails where there's no
[33:07]
cameras. So,
>> yeah, we can do that.
[33:12]
» The only I have is the the road next to
the corner store and up high street is
[33:18]
horrible and it's getting worse by the
day.
[33:21]
» That's true. right beside the corner
store and it's all rippled out of the
[33:25]
state.
>> Yep.
[33:27]
» And I asked I talked to Dave Allen and I
said, "Can we dig it up?" This was end
[33:33]
of July. I'm like, "Can we dig it up?
Put a good base just in that one
[33:38]
section."
>> Yeah.
[33:39]
» And repave it. And he goes, "Well,
that's slated to get all redone in
[33:44]
2028." I go,
>> Dave, I go, "It's really bad right now."
[33:50]
Um, he goes, "Well, let me send my
experts out." And I haven't heard a
[33:54]
word, so I will follow up.
>> You can tell when you're going through
[33:58]
there if you're following a native. The
native has moved all the way over. So,
[34:04]
» and the outer state is don't know about
that straight.
[34:08]
» Yeah.
>> Riding a snowmobile.
[34:11]
» Yeah. It's awful.
>> It is.
[34:15]
» If that's it, I'd like to enter into
executive session at this time under one
[34:19]
Yes. Um put together anything at all to
observe um Friday the 25th anniversary
[34:25]
of 911.
>> I mean we're going to fly maybe flags at
[34:30]
half mass or we do something to
recognize the day.
[34:39]
Don't flags have to come from the
governor.
[34:42]
Yeah. Flag has to be set by the
governor.
[34:44]
» Well, I mean you pretty much are the
governor of the town, right? I mean you
[34:47]
guys right here, right? you get the
governing body.
[34:55]
» Even if even if town buildings we don't
have say over that
[35:02]
» been made supposed to be half staff
made by
[35:07]
» okay but we will be flying half staff.
>> Awesome.
[35:12]
» AJ gets all those notifications.
All good.
[35:17]
» At this time, I'd like to enter into
executive session 1 MRSA 456 now. Thank
[35:23]
you folks. Time now is 6:36. I have a
motion seconded by by Dana. All in
[35:28]
favor? Thank you folks. Good night.
Thank you for coming.
[35:34]
Okay.
