Next item on the agenda is the consent
[1:24]
agenda. Matters listed under the consent
agenda are considered to be routine and
[1:27]
will be enacted by one motion and one
vote of consent.
[1:30]
There will be no separate discussion of
these items. If a discussion is desired,
[1:33]
that item will be removed from the
consent agenda and considered
[1:35]
separately.
I move we approve the consent agenda. Is
[1:38]
there a second?
>> I'll second.
[1:40]
» Any discussion?
>> Mr. Posey.
[1:43]
» Aye.
>> Mr. Cole.
[1:44]
» Aye.
>> Mr. Berry.
[1:45]
» Aye.
>> Moving on to new business. Mr.
[1:47]
Schweiker, you have resolutions 109 and
110.
[1:50]
» Yes, good evening, Board. 109 is to
authorize upfit equipment for a truck
[1:55]
that we purchased, a replacement vehicle
back in August. Uh this is to include a
[2:00]
service body crane and some other up fit
materials to this truck to help us
[2:04]
better serve the community, faster
response for storm uh emergencies and
[2:09]
situations like that. Uh we provided
three quotes as documented out in the uh
[2:14]
the memorandum. Be happy to answer any
questions regarding this up fit
[2:19]
equipment.
>> Any discussion?
[2:22]
Thank you.
>> Thank you.
[2:24]
And resolution 110 is to purchase rock
salt for the upcoming winter season. I'd
[2:29]
like to touch on that we participate
with 93 other agencies in Southwest Ohio
[2:34]
to do a collective bidding process. Due
to the fact of this previous winter
[2:40]
um and explained in the documents uh
provided for this resolution,
[2:44]
uh the pricing per ton went up 64%
I believe to $123.50
[2:51]
a ton. So um we only received one bid
for a potential multi-year bid uh packet
[2:58]
along with many other jurisdictions. So
we'll navigate next year when that time
[3:02]
comes, but for this upcoming season um
recommending to go with Champion
[3:08]
Landscape Supply who was our sole bidder
for this upcoming season. And due to the
[3:13]
increase in salt, um we will do
everything in our power to not uh negate
[3:18]
services, but we'll try and find
additional ways to be creative so that
[3:21]
way we're not um blowing through the
budget on on rock salt and have to do
[3:26]
additional uh fund transfers, but just
we'll be mindful this upcoming season
[3:30]
and still deliver the services that are
expected to the residents. And I'd be
[3:34]
happy to answer any questions regarding
the uh rock salt
[3:37]
uh resolution.
>> Any questions?
[3:40]
» Thank you.
>> your thorough explanation of uh on the
[3:42]
unusual circumstances we find ourselves.
>> Thank you.
[3:46]
» Mr. Carlson, do you have resolutions 111
and 112?
[3:48]
» Yes, good evening, Board. Uh resolution
111 is a resolution to authorize
[3:53]
participation in ODOT's bidding process
for the Kings Ridge Drive pedestrian
[3:57]
improvements. Uh, it's hard to believe,
but uh, the initial project agreement
[4:02]
for Kings Ridge Drive we entered into
just over 3 years ago. Uh, so this is
[4:06]
process is uh, kind of coming to the
end. We're getting ready to bid. This is
[4:10]
ODOT's chance to say, "Hey, before we
take this to bid, are you still up for
[4:14]
the project? Are we still moving things
forward?" So, it's sort of a
[4:17]
housekeeping item. There's no real new
obligation here, but it is saying, "Yes,
[4:20]
we do want to participate in your bid
process." Are there any questions?
[4:24]
» Thank you.
>> Um, resolution 112 is to authorize the
[4:28]
Township Administrator to execute
agreement with Volkert uh, for
[4:31]
right-of-way acquisition for the State
Route 741 pedestrian improvement
[4:35]
project. Uh, we are through phase two
engineering for the Springboro Pike
[4:39]
pathway project and are now in the phase
where we need to start acquiring uh,
[4:43]
some temporary and some permanent
right-of-way. So, this would allow us to
[4:47]
execute an agreement with Volkert uh,
with ODOT as well uh, to start
[4:53]
uh, the right-of-way planning and
procedure
[4:56]
uh, acquisition.
>> Do you have any questions on this one?
[4:58]
» Any questions on this one? Thank you.
Moving on to the public comment portion.
[5:02]
This is the portion of the meeting where
you, the residents of Miami Township,
[5:05]
are invited to share your thoughts with
the board. Please note that this time
[5:08]
has been set aside for the board to
listen to you. Your comments are valued
[5:11]
and will be taken into careful
consideration. The board will not engage
[5:14]
in dialogue at this time and
presentations are limited to 5 minutes
[5:17]
each. Anyone looking to public comment,
come forward.
[5:20]
All right. Thank you for being here,
though.
[5:23]
Moving on to consideration of
resolutions and motions. I move we adopt
[5:26]
resolution 109-2-2026,
a resolution authorizing the Township
[5:30]
Administrator to purchase truck
equipment for the road department. Is
[5:33]
there a second?
>> I'll second.
[5:35]
» Any discussion?
>> Mr. Posey.
[5:38]
» Aye.
>> Mr. Cole.
[5:39]
» Aye.
>> Mr. Berry.
[5:40]
» Aye.
>> I move we adopt resolution 110-2026, a
[5:43]
resolution to purchase rock salt for the
2026-2027
[5:46]
winter season. Is there a second?
>> I'll second.
[5:49]
» Any discussion?
>> Mr. Posey.
[5:51]
» Hi.
>> Mr. Cole.
[5:52]
» Hi.
>> Mr. Berry.
[5:54]
» Hi.
>> I move we adopt resolution 111-2026, a
[5:57]
resolution authorizing local
participation in the O dot bidding
[6:00]
process and agreeing to pay local costs
for Kingsbridge Drive pedestrian
[6:03]
improvements. Is there a second?
>> I'll second.
[6:06]
» Any discussion?
>> Mr. Posey.
[6:09]
» Hi.
>> Mr. Cole.
[6:10]
» Hi.
>> Mr. Berry.
[6:11]
» Hi.
>> I move we adopt resolution 112-2026, a
[6:14]
resolution to authorize the township
administrator to execute an agreement
[6:17]
with Volcker Inc. for right-of-way
acquisition services for the MOT
[6:21]
741-2.03
pedestrian improvement project. Is there
[6:25]
a second?
>> I'll second.
[6:27]
» Any discussion?
>> Mr. Posey.
[6:29]
» Hi.
>> Mr. Cole.
[6:30]
» Hi.
>> Mr. Berry.
[6:31]
» Hi.
>> Department of comments. Chief McCarty.
[6:35]
» No comments for the record.
>> Mr. Schweiger.
[6:37]
» Just one brief one. I don't usually
mention anything about developments.
[6:41]
It's not our realm, but public works was
invited to the Wawa grand opening where
[6:45]
we did a sandwich making contest with
members from administration and the
[6:49]
board and
I'd like to say that we were crowned
[6:52]
champions in the sandwich making and
brought home a trophy. So it's right at
[6:55]
our nice public works entrance for
everyone to enjoy. But it was a good
[6:59]
time and thanks for the invitation.
>> I'm excited your other skills have been
[7:02]
recognized.
Mr. Carlson.
[7:04]
» I want to apologize to administration. I
was not able to make it to the sandwich
[7:08]
making contest. It may have turned out
differently. So that's my first comment.
[7:12]
My second is just want to express my
appreciation to the board for
[7:17]
all of the work that we've been able to
do so far on the Kingsbridge Drive
[7:20]
streetscape project. This project was
first placed into a township
[7:25]
comprehensive plan in 1996. So we are
coming up on 30 years from when it was
[7:29]
first suggested. We're a long way out
from that initial suggestion, but again
[7:34]
appreciate the board allowing us to move
forward on some of these projects to
[7:37]
improve our community. Really excited to
get some of these under our belt and I
[7:40]
think we have several more in the queue.
So again, I appreciate all the support.
[7:44]
» Thank you for your hard work.
Mr. McCoy.
[7:46]
» Just a brief comment. The auditor state
released our financial audits for fiscal
[7:52]
year ending 12/31/25. So, they're out on
the website, Township website, and also
[7:57]
through the auditor of state.
>> Thank you.
[8:00]
Elected official comments, Mr. Barry.
>> I'd like to congratulate the public
[8:03]
works department on their win at Wawa,
and thank you to everybody in the
[8:07]
Township. That was a great turnout.
And I apologize to the administrative
[8:12]
staff that I couldn't do better on the
hoagie making contest. If there's ever
[8:15]
another opportunity, we'll get them next
time.
[8:18]
» Thank you. Mr. Cole.
>> I have no comment.
[8:21]
» My only comment was the hoagie making
contest conflicted with a fire district
[8:24]
meeting, so I was unable to attend or
participate.
[8:27]
With that, I adjourn the meeting at 6:08
p.m. Thank you.
