[1:28] So Michael's role for the last about 8 1/2 years, is that about right?

[1:42] Housing and Community Development Citizen advisory Committee.

[1:46] And on that committee last year and this year.

[1:55] Development Advisory Council.

[1:57] And what this?

[2:00] What these councils have been doing.

[2:03] And correct me if I if it's wandered off and I'm not aware of it, but.

[2:11] The Federal Housing number and development.

[2:15] They distribute.

[2:15] Block grants.

[2:17] To various municipalities.

[2:19] And also.

[2:21] On behalf of smaller municipalities like ourselves, they distribute a block grant to the county.

[2:27] Which is administered by the county.

[2:28] But we are represented on these councils by.

[2:33] Michael Anderson and other cities like Kearns and Taylorsville and Riverton.

[2:38] Also have representatives on those councils and what they do is they.

[2:42] Review annually.

[2:45] Grant requests.

[2:47] From.

[2:49] Nonprofits and other organizations that provide.

[2:52] Services that fulfill the mission of HUD.

[2:55] And so Michael and the other representatives will.

[2:59] Review these grants.

[3:01] And make a recommendation to the County Council, who then awards these grants to.

[3:07] These organizations.

[3:08] Whether therefore.

[3:11] Affordable housing or?

[3:14] Addressing homelessness.

[3:17] Substance abuse issues, I think.

[3:19] And maybe you can.

[3:21] When you have a chance to speak you.

[3:23] Clarify if I've got that wrong if there are more areas.

[3:28] Michael's been serving on that role. Michael also in his professional career as a as a shareholder partner at Par Brown Guy and

[3:32] Loveless, a downtown firm.

[3:37] As a very robust law practice.

[3:43] But in his.

[3:44] Spare time, one of the things he does is serve on this committee. It tends to go from January to April.

[3:49] But uh.

[3:53] Also, a little bit of quick history. That's a role that I used to have.

[3:56] Prior to joining the Council.

[3:58] And I served in that same committee.

[4:00] For three years until I joined the the City Council.

[4:04] After which I recruited Michael and and he gladly accepted that role and he's been serving in that role for the last nine years.

[4:10] So with that, thank you very much.

[4:14] Mike Michael is going to take a sabbatical or a.

[4:17] Or take leave from that position and.

[4:21] And we'll roll that.

[4:25] Another person Michaels recruited for us.

[5:36] So halfway houses and.

[5:41] You know that there are also ordinary things more.

[5:45] Ordinary things that we do like, umm, uh.

[5:48] Ensuring that sidewalks are.

[5:50] Are compliant with.

[5:52] The ADA.

[5:53] So someone can get to and from their home.

[5:56] To the grocery store.

[5:57] And back safely.

[6:00] But things that really tug at your heartstrings, like Hospice care for homeless.

[6:04] Folks and.

[6:07] I'm really proud of the work that we did.

[6:08] And uh.

[6:10] Making sure money went to those who.

[6:14] In my view.

[6:16] It needed it most.

[6:17] So it was a real honor and a privilege.

[6:20] To serve.

[6:22] In that capacity.

[6:24] And I just have a lot of gratitude.

[6:28] For the opportunity so.

[8:45] Through the generosity of some folks in the Draper Area Corporation down there.

[8:50] They've granted us some money.

[8:53] To help high school age kids.

[8:57] Ages 14 up to 21.

[9:00] And the purpose of that grant money is to.

[9:03] Help them develop a little bit more about what it is to develop their career interests. Maybe even think about like.

[9:11] You know, I'm down the line, what what would I really like to do?

[9:13] And and I had specifically in mind.

[9:16] Youth whom I have an interest in becoming firefighters.

[9:19] Or police officers and serve the public.

[9:22] And so I was talking with the Chiefs.

[9:25] And let them know that I think we got a partnership opportunity to do this.

[9:30] And I'd really like to, you know, utilize this grant money for kids in this area right here and just, you know.

[9:37] Basically pay their registration. If anybody was in scouting, you know, back in the day, there's always a registration fee along

[9:42] with all that stuff. Well, that's what I'd like to use these dollars and cents for.

[9:47] And help kids.

[9:49] Get a sense of like, hey, if I'm thinking.

[9:51] I'd like to put your police officer, give him a real taste of like, what's the experience going to be like so that they may

[9:56] confirm in their mind is like, yeah, that's what I thought it was.

[10:01] Or maybe they might even think like.

[10:02] That's not what I had in mind.

[11:08] We would like to try and pursue.

[11:11] If there was a way to pursue nuisance household.

[11:15] You know, from what I understand there's some code that you can.

[11:17] Apply where you have to. You can actually evict A tenant if they're a nuisance household, but.

[11:22] Essentially, I've been a.

[11:23] A holiday resident since May of 2011.

[11:26] I personally have witnessed.

[11:28] Multiple.

[11:29] People registered on the sex offender list come through this property.

[11:32] Which then LED in 2022 to Internet crimes against children.

[11:35] Being called for them.

[11:36] There was another incident with which I believe drugs were on the property in 2024.

[11:42] Another incident with the Unified.

[11:44] Police Department just two days ago and then.

[11:47] The fire department called on them in 2022 for burning trash in their backyard and so.

[11:52] It's right across the street from the West side of the Cotton Club.

[11:56] It's on a path with kids walking there every day to their junior high.

[12:01] And you know, I just would love it if.

[12:03] The City Council consider.

[12:05] Maybe reaching out to the landlords, which I'd be happy to provide their information.

[12:10] And simply just saying, you know, there's concerned members of the public.

[12:13] And this has now become a public issue and was brought up in City Council. We think you should be aware landlord.

[12:19] And then, you know, I think that's about all we can do.

[12:22] So that's pretty much my only request.
