[1:33] done uh one item that came out of the new business was the 2024 draft budget

[1:40] they're going to be getting rid of some of the phone lines down at the fire hall

[1:43] which should reduce the uh our costs from about $10,000 down to

[1:50] about $4,000 because what did you say it was about $100 a month

[1:57] yeah so there's motion made that we reduce the budget there and uh

[2:03] streamline a little bit some of the lines will be saying so it doesn't

[2:07] affect the fire fire an operation but just some of the extra lines that were

[2:10] there we're taking up three it was

[2:16] four uh and alen steing was there and he did

[2:24] a debrief I meant to bring my copy but I forgot that at the joint meeting he's

[2:30] going to be presenting the debrief of the 20 2023 Wildfire event that we had

[3:50] the Town Council needs to award it uh but then we come bring that to the next

[3:55] council meeting uh for an official award this but then uh MD will be involved

[3:59] than that uh just a reminder January 2nd Council meetings cancelled that the

[4:05] office is closed next week uh fcss coordinator position has been selected

[4:11] uh slated to start January 8th please don't ask me a name I don't remember um

[4:16] still recruiting Public Works operator getting it narrowed down um Christmas

[4:21] Recreation opening hours so the community center will be closed 24 25 26

[11:27] inside um so we we do have uh Council does we'll have some I think uh every

[11:33] three years so organizations like uh Crossroads Legion we got quite a few uh

[11:40] Council does uh that that own their buildings and then request for a tax

[11:45] exemption and you know the usually not for-profits and providing services to

[11:49] our community um and then to exempt them on their taxes so Council can can do

[11:55] that uh this one is uh a renter and inside the mall and the when we reviewed

[12:03] the uh lease the lease is not linked to uh

[12:08] taxes so that's why our recommendation is deny the request it only benefits the

[12:15] ball owner not the organizations so it doesn't uh reduce

[12:24] their leas from what we can see unless you know because we actually ask as for

[12:29] this information we provided it and we conf and then sue and confirmed it um

[12:34] that their lease is not linked to taxes so we at this point don't understand the

[12:42] point uh because it doesn't benefit the person request the organization

[12:47] requesting for the exemption which is why we that we recommended to council

[12:52] the deny the request from the food bank and the uh

[12:57] chamber any comments or question it's Tim here I I thought I

[13:03] thought this was I I thought this was odd it's it's I I'm just making a huge

[13:08] assumption here but maybe the landlord is charging in their portion of property

[14:58] uh to give us the the go ahead to do the public auction uh and those are the

[15:04] three motions one being authorized Administration to conduct a public

[15:09] auction on March 14th with the terms of the sale outlined in uh the RFD uh

[15:16] motion number two Council authorizes Administration to use to suppli assessed

[15:20] values to set the reserve so that's basically the minimum bid and

[15:24] recommendation number three is the CAO becomes the auctioner for the for this

[15:31] any discussion by Council any comments questions

[15:36] concerns I just want one more thing uh and I just want uh Council to know that

[15:42] the auction is not near as exciting as the one that happened at the Christmas

[17:13] surprise it's higher than we thought so that's a good

[17:16] thing um yeah the the RFD kind of explains kind of the highlights uh this

[17:23] does reflect uh no ta no mill rate increase

[17:28] for 2024 at this

[17:32] time um yeah so it's just the two motions if Council so wishes is to adopt

[17:37] the 202 to adopt the operating budget is the 2024 interm and then uh motion

[17:43] number two is to adopt the presented uh 2024 capital is the 2024 interm capital

[17:50] budget and as we know when we we will adopt the final budgets in April but can

[17:57] almost guarantee something's going to change by then because it always tends

[18:01] to but this is our best guess at this time okay any

[19:24] the highlights are uh salaried staff uh would then be paid um which like with

[19:31] Carolina and myself and pavell and those kind of people Sal were salaried staff

[19:35] so we don't get overtime uh this would allow uh compensation that way uh the

[19:41] firefighters uh a couple things here is that there is we found out after uh

[19:46] there is actually a wild land rate so if DRP is going to kick in and our

[19:53] firefighters were working in a dealing with a Wildland Fire The Province

[19:59] actually has a different rate so that they can be compensated

[20:03] that rate uh and yeah that's pretty much the highlights of it because any other

[20:09] staff that work overtime will get paid overtime as per our policies because

[20:12] it's there um yeah that's that's kind of the

[20:16] highlights and that just kind of helps uh uh this is some uh what this does

[20:20] this will then also be submitted I think the MD is doing it as well will be

[20:24] submitted with the claim uh to help cover some of the uh those as

[20:30] well any thoughts of council comments questions

[21:48] I got Su to pull it today so but it was $155,000 in 2018 and so we took this out

[21:53] of our discretionary discretionary yeah so it's not currently in the intern

[21:57] budget just passed uh so if whatever Council wishes to do we'll budget

[22:02] accordingly or you can pass the buck on to the economic development

[22:09] committee Chris oh go ahead Joe no no I was gonna no I was going to ask him a

[22:14] question but you go ahead first um what is the economic development committee

[22:20] going to do with this okay that was my question

[22:23] too we would most likely decide whether or not we would sponsor like take from
